Sometimes I forget to look to see where the survivors are at, and when I do remember to look I can't see anyone.
^ This. I often forget to look for anyone.

Everyone who only uses it for the BP closes their eyes for 4 seconds whenever they hook someone.
Bro I run kindred and you can always tell a BBQ user because they spin around after every hook and then make a B LINE to one of the 3 other survivors.
If people can't even be honest about a simple thing like this it makes me wonder what else they're lying about.
(But no, BBQ is not even close to OP)
People are saying they use it over other perks because of the BP. Most of us aren't saying we ignore the info, though. I mean, a lot of people forget the info (including me), but when I remember I damn well use it. It'd be dumb not to. Killers only get four perks, not using one you equipped when it could provide important info (though, it often doesn't thanks to its myriad of counters) would be pretty dumb.
People choose BBQ over other tracking perks because of the BP bonus. Other tracking perks usually provide better info and have fewer counters: people would choose those over BBQ if the BP bonus weren't a thing.
-
It's not toxic. People overuse/misuse the word "toxic" for anything that they don't like. Being blinded is not fun for the killer, though, and if it costs them a hook, especially if it was after a long chase, then that can destroy their pressure and they're not going to thank you for it.
It sounds like this killer screwed up bad, though. After the first blind, they should've been on the lookout for future flashlight saves. If they didn't bother to try to counter it, that's on them. Personally, I run Lightborn 100% of the time, because other than slugging everyone before hooking I haven't been able to reliably counter flashlights ever since dedicated servers became a thing; I've been blinded by flashlights outside of my FOV and even when facing a wall.
-
Or devs could just, you know, give players more BP in general. It would help their playerbase feel less [BAD WORD]y after matches where they get stomped by SWF, bad matchmaking, dedicated servers, and/or years-old bugs.
-
My rank didn't change, so I'm still a rank 16 killer and rank 15 survivor.
-
There are sooo many perks, now, that using perk tiers to inflate the grind is just disgusting. It's not even about getting tier 3 of the perk, it's just stupidly frustrating trying to get tier 1 of a damn perk because of how many freaking perks there are and it's all dependent on RNG.
Shoving millions of Bloodpoints into the Bloodwebs and still not unlocking the perk you want is really, really frustrating.
Future perks shouldn't have tiers. If the devs want to keep tiers for the current perks, they could put only tier 1 in the Bloodwebs and then let the player use BP to tier-up that specific perk.
-
Ever since dedicated servers went live, I lost the ability to reliably counter flashlights. Right now I keep Lightborn on 100% of the time because I can be blinded without the survivor even being in my FOV. I can immediately turn away and still be blinded. I've had blinds happen in the past when I was facing a wall. Not cool.
Lightborn really isn't that good a perk. It's basically me wasting a perk slot to avoid being annoyed by something that's out of my control. If someone has a flashlight, I could just slug everyone and avoid the blind problem without shooting myself in the foot wasting a valuable perk slot. Lightborn doesn't win games unless the survivors are really dumb and really intent on getting a blind, which means they're not doing gens and were probably going to lose, anyway.
-
The Mr. Puddles charm is the one I want most to be able to put on my Clown's hooks. I was really unhappy it was survivor only.
Trap-o-Lantern would be nice on Trapper's hooks. And the Dwight Crow would be pretty cool to wear like a little voodoo doll as a survivor.
That so many charms aren't universal sucks. They're really hard to see on survivors, so it seems like they don't want players to be able to see the cool charm they designed when it's survivor only.
-
I have yet to see one, and I'm playing killer and just trying to figure out how to move Blight (I'm actually straining the muscles in my arm and neck trying to pull off some of the more precise moves I've seen other players do since the update, I don't suppose anyone has tips for console Blight?), not attacking anyone, so we always get to EGC... and #########, survivors are actually running out immediately, they never freaking do that. what the hell is going on?? So I'm not getting much time to search for him.
Edit: Put on Wraith instead of Blight and found the gnome first match and kicking it unlocked the charm. Yay! for survivors who decided that making noise notifications at the door was better than leaving.
-
I'm not sure which scene from the movies and series I've seen is the saddest, really, but the first one that pops into my head when the question is asked is Now and Then, Here and There, Episode 11, after Sara finds out she's pregnant.

While it's true their are other measures of victory killers need more objectives at the moment kills is the only real win for killer while survivors could go in and set their own objectives like stun killer or learn to loop a certain area what can killers actually do other than attempt kills
Getting a BBQ 4-stack. There are a lot of killers who base their idea of victory on that. As long as they get that 4-stack, it's a win.
However, if you mean neither killing nor even just hooking, then no, killers don't have anything else to do but harass survivors.
-
I swear to god, if the devs read this and implement some of these challenges, I am going to track all of you down, I am going to come to your houses, and I am going to cry at you. Not cute restrained crying, either, it'll be that ugly sobbing crying. Don't think I won't!
.... also: Get 6 successful post-Blink grabs with Nurse. Must be done in one trial.
You're welcome fellow console buddies.
-
Yeah, I love using killers' powers or a second perk to make the challenges more reasonable. I used Mikey for that challenge and equipped Sloppy Butcher for the Blood Echo challenge.
Mikey was also really good for a previous Haunted Grounds hit-survivors-while-they're-Exposed challenge. 😈
-
I play both roles. I'm terrible at both roles. I understand the game, but I'm the worst at looping and can never remember what to do at tiles (I've watched videos multiple times, but when I'm in the thick of it I just... forget it all). Most people aren't self-aware, though, and will blame their failings on others.
Solo survivor can suck due to bad teammates and/or matches in which it feels like I never had a chance to participate, but killer is the stressful role. A killer is stronger than an uncoordinated solo team, but otherwise killer is the weaker role because a killer can't be in four places at once and survivors who understand and capitalize on that win. Me dying as a survivor in almost every match doesn't change that: I don't die because the other side is OP, I die because I don't get better and because my survival is dependent on the other three survivors not being potatoes. But again, self-awareness is key and the majority of people lack self-awareness, that's why psychologists can make so much money.
-
If they cost me hooks, I don't really have much choice but to tunnel them out or go afk. It's a coin toss which I choose.
During the EGC, camping is the only thing a killer can do, so if I want more hooks or a kill then that's what I'll do: camp.
-
"Like" is too strong a word.
It's an addiction more than enjoyment. I feel a need to do the achievements, do the challenges, finish the Rift. When I don't have one of those to work on, I don't bother to play.
-
Cool.
My ideas have been:
1. Require less stalking to get out of tier 1.
2. Make him immune to Spine Chill in tier 1. The devs removing that immunity for "consistency" reasons was a terrible change. Myers in tier 1 is unique, let him be unique.
-
When I'm playing killer, I often don't even pay attention to lobbies. Sometimes a couple gens will pop before I even notice the match started.
If I'm in a funky mood, I might ditch a lobby if the survivors refuse to ready up within a certain amount of time or if one of them starts flipping through characters a bunch.
I'll ditch a lobby if I see multiple survivors switch to Claudette. If I'm not memeing around and need to play a match for real, I'll ditch if there are 2+ survivors using the same character, because it's too difficult for me to keep track of who's who, even if they're wearing different outfits.
When I play survivor, I'll ditch if there are 2+ Claudettes in the lobby. If I'm having a bad day and survivor queues are fast, I may ditch if there's even one Claudette.
-
I used to try equipping a broken key to see if I could get the killer to equip Franklin's or use a mori. Never worked, though, so I gave up. :(
(I only play solo and I'm on console, so I can't coordinate with the other survivors to do something like four broken keys.)
-
For survivor, I main Kate with red hair (Star Seeker), her xmas sweater (Mustang Sally), and long jeans. Plus I have the Mr. Puddles Stuffie charm on her. Why do I main her? Her appearance.
I change up killers, and I change up their appearances. I often play tier 1 EW Myers, though, but I just wear his default outfit because I've already put a lot of money into the game, including buying auric cells, and the game still feels awful on console. I'd rather look plain and boring than give them money if they're not gonna fix console performance. Oh, and I main Myers because I like being spooky: he has no terror radius, no red stain, and no aura as long as I stay in tier 1.
-
I completed that one by injuring survivors 6 times with Corrupt Purge.

What? Why is that funny as well as it not making sense
You don't get it? The survivors literally "fall" when the killer hits them, injured or no, because NOED makes them Exposed. So they go down, or "fall," over and over.
It's a pun, because you each used a different definition for the word "fall."
-
I actually run Lightborn 100% of the time. I often don't even pay attention to the lobbies.
If you ever get a killer who's running like two stupid perks and one of them is Lightborn, that's me. Hi!
-
You're one person against four others. It's going to feel stressful. Matchmaking putting you against survivors who will be practically untouchable makes it worse.
Getting better helps, of course, but it's also about changing your mindset. Matchmaking, bugs in the game, problems with latency, things that are totally out of your control are going to screw you. You have to make your peace with it and try to put yourself in the mindset of, "Who cares? It's just a game." If you can't get past feeling competitive, you may want to quit now before you get in any deeper.
I'm not competitive, I don't care about rank, I meme around, and I'll go afk as killer when I'm not having fun. I'm still always about one step away from uninstalling the game.

Since the All Kill chapter and more so after this last mid-chapter patch I've noticed it feels sluggish when running around. I get those run for a few seconds, slow down randomly, then go back to running. It sucks in a chase.
I've had this happen! I thought maybe my grip on the controller was failing in my old age, or that maybe it was in my head.
-
It's hard to say. Maybe DbD could add in options like dead zone settings for console and then I could give a more insightful answer. Right now, Trickster feels really suck because aiming on a controller is hard and trying to hit a moving survivor is worse.
Sometimes during matches I'll stop and just aim at inanimate objects to see how I do, and the way recoil and spread mess with it... inanimate objects give me trouble. He already takes 8 hits and survivors can lose laceration damage during chase. Does he really need forced potato aim when the game doesn't even let me adjust the stick's dead zone? ffs.
I have no comment on Main Event. I never use it. The only thing it ever does is annoy me with the mess it makes of my screen when the bar is filled. I don't care, I'm not going to activate it, leave me alone.

So not only did you win your team the game but you also wanna kick the ikller in the balls? You looped him for 3 gens and think he should get no reward?
What is wrong with survivor mains, why do they despise killer players so much?
The killer is "the bad guy." The survivors are the downtrodden heroes just trying to escape a horrible fate. Life is so unfair on these guys, of course all four of them deserve to escape! /s
In every horror survival game, the killer is an NPC. The player gets enough distance running down that hallway and the ceiling caves in behind them; chase over, the AI did its job and cares not how it ended. The AI may be difficult to beat, but it's always beat-able, because in the end it's just a stupid series of if-else statements that can't learn and certainly doesn't think in terms of wanting to get some reward out of a chase that went poorly.
Not only are people playing survivor often not in the right frame of mind in terms of their role in DbD, but DbD itself makes it worse with its terrible reward system. A large chunk of the survivor's points is that 5k for escaping, so the player gets pissed when it's taken away from them. That's the game's fault because it makes escaping seem necessary to having a good match.
This problem is made worse by the way killers are rewarded. One long chase where gens are popping the whole time doesn't earn much for points, so if/when the killer downs that survivor they aren't going to just walk away from the hook, because that's the only thing they have. The survivor on the hook feels cheated because they did well in the chase but they are trained to feel that this was a loss (5k BP for escaping, bye bye). They get mad at the killer but the killer was just trying to salvage what they could from a terrible match. It's usually not personal, but it feels personal to the survivor.
Getting 5k for escaping is terrible. A killer getting 2.5k for no escapes is terrible. Very bad game design decisions. BP should reward playing/ participating. Winning should be its own reward. I really hope one day this game stops forcing each side to hate the other.
-
I did it with Agitation, Iron Grasp, Starstruck, and Lightborn. I totally meme'd around, my one goal was to have lobbies with flashlights in them and then bait someone to go for a flashlight save as I picked up a downed survivor. It's fun and feels satisfying when it works, but it's totally throwing the match just to pull off a silly prank. I got the achievement doing it, though.
-
Unfortunately, they'll never lower the chase music, and I'm not sure they actually know how to fix the sounds. We are forever screwed.
-
I think it's a misprint and they meant to say "Corrupt Purge," not Vile Purge. I completed the challenge by injuring the survivors 6 times with Corrupt Purge.
-
For powers, I'd revert Nurse and get rid of the added cooldown.
For appearance, I'd revert Kate to get back her old hair.
For maps, I'd revert the Coldwind maps because they're bright as the sun and the corn blindness has me dropping every chase and going afk early on each time I end up there.
-
Of all characters, Claudette didn't need another new outfit in the first place.
But that's what the devs chose, so cool, at least it's different from her normal cosmetics...
Except they didn't stick to the artist's original design. What they created is very watered down and blends in with Claudette's other cosmetics, not standing out the way it could've.
So this brings me back to just being generally annoyed that Claudette got another cosmetic, because there's nothing special or interesting about it. It was a wasted opportunity in so many ways.

Why are they legendary? Because they're licensed characters from Crypt.TV and they get a cut of the revenue.
Doctor - The Look-See
Hag - The Birch
Huntress - Mordeo
But The Hag's Birch cosmetics are not legendary/a set. That's why people are so confused: why are Doc's and Huntress's cosmetics linked if Hag's aren't? Especially Doc's.
-
The current tome's challenges are rewarding Rift Fragments right now while the Rift is active. If you're not earning Rift Fragments then that is a bug.
The old tomes stopped rewarding Rift Fragments when their respective Rifts closed, and they will never reward Rift Fragments again.

Oh it's touching gens thay prevents the ban?,
In the few games I've played through this I would find a gen with a little progress I figured to keep the crows away guess it was to prevent being banned.
I wondered why they poked the gens I figurednit would have been safer to be as far away from then as possible so that's where I started looking. Now I know
Again, there are no hard and fast rules. If it doesn't seem like they're trying to complete the generators, report them. Let the devs decide.

Problem is that it’s so hard to prove that survivors are intentionally staying away from generators, even if you’re recording a game.
I agree there has to be a way to speed up the end of the game after 20 minutes or so. Some kind of mechanism to help killer find remaining survivors if they haven’t touched a gen within X amount of time. I had a match recently where I killed two survivors pretty quickly and the two remaining didn’t touch a gen for like 20 minutes. When I finally found them and downed them I let them bleed out. I will say that these types of matches are very rare, but super annoying when you get one
When it's happened to me, it was really easy to tell, because they literally didn't touch a generator. The remaining ones all regressed to 0 and stayed there. In each case they were obviously trying to get me to disconnect (and I got really ticked in one of them because it was a double BP event and I'd burned a Gateau and it wasn't my fault the first two survivors suicided, I just wanted to farm... the remaining two hid together on the edge of the map, wanting me to disconnect on my own Gateau... oooh I was so ticked).
@deckyr said:

oh my god. they can just have the survivors instantly die if they don't touch a gen in 15 minutes lol! why are these rules not enforced in the game itself?
A bunch of us in the forums have been quite vocal about wanting the devs to prevent this from happening in the first place. It doesn't happen often to most of us, but when it does it's really frustrating.
-
It's not unreasonable for Spine Chill to work against Ghost Face, considering he can expose survivors while in stealth. Piggy can dash attack from stealth. And Wraith is kinda sorta invisible.
It's unreasonable for Spine Chill to work against tier 1 EW Mikey. He's slow and has no lunge. He doesn't go invisible. His breathing is supposedly pretty loud. And if he stalks survivors while in stealth, he doesn't expose them, he just graduates to tier 2 EW which is walking-sim-M1-killer mode.
The one thing I definitely want to see concerning Spine Chill is for Mikey to be immune to it while in tier 1. He used to be, and I don't think the change was justified, even if he is a little stealthier than he was before the Undetectable status was introduced.

Yah if there moving around you can find them, if they don't move the birds get them hensd the move methodically and pay attention part.
I dodnt realize it was bannable to not do gens, how long do the devs give before it becomes a banable? I don't play killer often but it'd be good to know so I can report next time
I'm not sure they've said specifically what the minimum amount of time is, but it's something like 15 minutes. If it gets close to or surpasses 15 minutes of survivors not touching a generator, then report them in-game and also submit a ticket with video evidence (it requires both).
-
@wxnickxw said:
Well I was going to say it's easy enough to catch survivors when the hide, they get crows if they stay to long so if your paying attention and checking every locker while moving methodically through the map you can Track down two survivors easily but infigured you'd be better off with a perknthaybdoes thay for you.
And although really slow I don't believe it's bannable for the survivors to be so good at hiding that you can't find them.
I'm curious.did you find them both together or just get one in the end? Or did they escape
The survivors don't go afk, they stealth around the map, staying far away from unfinished generators. This can go on indefinitely, and as long as the survivors hide without touching gens the killer can't end the match.
If survivors go for too long without touching a generator, it's considered holding the game hostage and it is bannable.

The weapons should not be attached to the other cosmetics, they could easily be switched out without breaking the outfit.
The Doctor's huge wrench weapon doesn't even match The Look-See. This is the first legendary cosmetic I've purchased (because shards), and thank god the cosmetics glitch works on console, too.
The Mordeo weapon looks cool, sure, but taking up so much of the screen like that? Players should be able to change it out for a different weapon if they find it hinders gameplay.
-
I like staying at Rank 17 and lower just so it always tells me I'm a "Brutal Killer."
None of the other screens involve the Entity's feelings, neither should the "You sucked" screen. It could say "Sleepwalking Killer" or "Aloof Killer." Something like that would be a lot better.
-
This is why I keep Lightborn equipped on all my killers at all times, it's just a default part of their loadouts. Ever since dedicated servers became a thing, there has always been some problem with flashlights, whether it has to do with POV or latency or whatever.
-
I like Kate's head and top.
Plague's is eh, maybe, but in general I don't remember seeing anything else I was interested in. A very boring Rift.
-
She's hyped, not iconic. When the devs and Capcom decided who the killer would be months and months ago (because it takes DbD many months to create a killer), they had no clue if fans would take to her.
Other reasons it shouldn't be her:
1. It'd be dumb for RE to create a new killer to renew interest in their franchise and then hand her out to be used elsewhere. Why spread your new IP thin like that?
2. It's DbD's anniversary, not the celebration of RE's new game; the addition of an iconic killer is a better way to celebrate, otherwise it's more like an advertisement for someone else.
3. In order to capitalize on as many fans as possible, use an iconic character that brings up nostalgia in DbD. If they release a character from their new game, it will only appeal to the same people who are already giving RE money for the new game (which may cannibalize their own sales). If however the old RE fans aren't interested in the new game, they may pay up to play the iconic characters.
4. Right now, Lady Dimitrescu is hyped. The popularity could be long-lived or it could end at any moment. She is not a tried-and-true character who has lasted the test of time.
Edit: got confused in my head and wrote something wrong.
-
It's bright as the sun. The corn is worse in terms of corn blindness. Some of the tile walls are longer, making the loops worse for killers.
I've only played on two corns maps so far, so I don't have experience with most of the different structures. I did play Rancid Abattoir, and the Slaughterhouse feels awful, but maybe that's just because I'm not used to it yet.
-
The threshold for when a challenge goes from being fun to frustrating is different for everyone. It gets frustrating faster if the person has multiple bad matches in a row (we can't know for sure if that's what happened in this case, but it's often a good bet).
-
Killers don't usually leave me slugged, but when they do, this perk can save just me or it can allow me to save others as well. Unbreakable has taken me from death-imminent to live-to-die-another-day.
Many perks are highly situational, but in the situations where Unbreakable is useful it's invaluable.
-
I used to play Spirit, but I've almost never been able to track via sounds in DbD; I used prediction and her collision to surprise survivors (scratch marks are too delayed to be useful, so for me phasing has always been useless in a chase). When they removed her collision, it really hurt my ability to get any post-phase hits. Before long I dropped her.
I miss her. I like her design and her power. I have a bunch of cosmetics for her. But a regular 110 M1 killer isn't much fun. Tier 1 Myers may be slow, but he has stealth.
-
Spine Chill should not activate against Myers in Tier 1 EW.
Everything else is debatable, but Myers in EW1 is slow and has no lunge. The only thing he has going for him is stealth, and he needs to look at survivors and stalk them to get out of EW1. After he gets out of EW1, he goes into EW2, which is basically just his 'normal killer' mode. He cannot go from EW1 to insta-down mode, so there is really no reason for SC to screw him so hard.
Myers is my main these days and I've had plenty of lobbies where all four survivors were running SC.
-
If a long-standing franchise like RE creates a new character to renew interest in its series and then just hands it out to be used elsewhere, that'll be really dumb on their part. It'll miss the chance to capitalize on fans of the old RE games by bringing characters from the older games to DbD. No one has any connection to Lady Dimitrescu, it's just the new hyped thing. People have connections to other long-standing RE characters, they see Nemesis or Leon or Jill and immediately think "Resident Evil!" They remember (hopefully with nostalgic fondness) playing the games featuring those characters.
It's better to squeeze more life out of the old characters than to spread your new characters thin.
-
Because those are the free chicks? The other free survivors are male, and the rest cost some form of currency to unlock. Many players prefer female survivors because they are smaller (take up less of the screen, easier to hide).
