  • They should add new modes, period. A vanilla no-perk mode would be interesting, just have it automatically reward more BP in return for the handicap and not being able to use any BP perks.

  • A lot of perks are useless if they're not used in conjunction with something else. Many/most survivor perks would have to be reworked. At that point, it'd be easier to just remove all survivor and killer perks from the game entirely. Which I'm fine with, really, so let's do it.

    REMOVE ALL PERKS!

  • The input lag makes skill checks a misery. Skill checks that appear in the first half of the circle are pretty much a guaranteed miss.

I'm still upset about the video record function being disabled. Without video evidence, reporting bugs and griefers is impossible.

DbD should never have been ported to the Switch. It started in a bad state, it only ever gets worse, and BHVR charges people money for it. It's like charging people money for a machine-translated foreign novel: the words in it are technically in your language but attempting to read it is an unpleasant chore. Add to that it being black text on dark grey paper and it's a poor experience all around.

  • Trickster is poorly designed. His change made him better at facecamping and worse at general map pressure. It was a seriously awful change. Like most killers, he is heavily map dependent. I saw a Trickster do stupid well on RPD because of the long hallways. Give survivors a loop with any high walls, though, and Trickster is going to have a miserable time. Also, if the killer is playing on console, Trickster is not a ranged-attack killer: he's basically a 110 M1 killer who can slow himself down even more by accidentally tapping the left trigger.

Right now, most people are playing Trickster not because they want to but because of the Tome challenges. If you see a Trickster standing around not doing much of anything, offer to help him out and you can probably get a lot of points (otherwise have fun with your gen repair sim).

  • Survivors being able to DS the killer after unhooking was one of the bigger problems with DS. A survivor fresh off the hook unhooks another survivor and the killer is in a lose-lose situation because both can stab him. It was absolutely ridiculous when it happened, going after the unhooker is supposed to be the right move yet the killer could still be punished for it.

  • Oh, I love doing dumb crap against these kinds of teams. Like walking around and just looking at them, never chasing, never hitting, never attempting to get a hook. If they don't want to do gens then they're forced to DC. A lot of them will DC. Feels way better than playing their game of whatever it was they had planned for me.

  • I don't equip Dead Hard, I like to screw around and kick pumpkins and look for bones and do anything else that's not useful to the team, so can killers please stop tunneling me out, now?

  • @Clowning said:

The point is just to be nice to other people who might pop that gen or need the archive challenge, to enjoy the event, have fun. I know, a very alien concept in this game.

Yeah, but in the Lunar New Year event everyone still on the map got the points when an event gen popped (and they were all event gens). That was the nice way to do it. This Halloween event has encouraged griefing as survivors get upset if there's no free spot open on an event gen. It's poor gameplay design.

I guess you actually need to git gut you mean? Tons of killer perks have conditions why that perk cant have it

Tunneling and camping is okay according devs.

Tons of killer perks have conditions why that perk cant have it

Because I've never had a problem with any killer perk where the poor console performance makes it unusable. The closest we get is Sloppy Butcher for causing frame drops, but that still screws survivors more than killers.

  • But I like the increased pick-up speed for getting slugs off the ground. That's really handy.

Also, great skill checks are not easy to hit for new players or console players. The people who really need the BP boost are new players, and making the grind more difficult for console players wouldn't be nice, either. Not to mention, skill checks are a completely RNG element; I can repair an entire generator and never get a single skill check.

I mean, they are not really avoidable.. ^^ I guess at least my Nea had a lot of them.

Even tho, it was my favorite map for "Break X Pallets/Gens"-Challenges, since it is full of Pallets which dont need to be kicked right away.

I have read on Twitter that someone got 1.6 million. But I doubt that anyone can have more than that, they probably check which is the clostest value, so someone who got 600k was closer to 100 than 200, while someone who got 1.1 million was closer to 200.

Just replace "unfrozen" with "the thread title" on these forums.

  • I look forward to playing Nemesis a whole bunch those days. It is his best map and god I'm going to miss it when it's gone.

  • It'd have to be this weekend, 'cause I have the new Animal Crossing update to play so not being able to play survivor won't matter to me. Otherwise, we'll need to wait for BHVR to add killer bots.

Edit: Ah, you updated your title: no exhaustion perks and/or gen regression perks. It could be interesting. I never run exhaustion or gen regression perks, myself, but I wouldn't mind playing the game without having to deal with Sprint Burst, Dead Hard, Ruin, and Surge/Jolt for a little while, though.

What consoles are y'all playing on that the ds skill check is impossible to hit? I play on Switch (first gen) and Xbox 1 x, and have yet to miss the DS skill check unless i've been drinking. My reflexes aren't amazing or anything either. are y'all playing on ps3s?

I play on Switch, and even normal skill checks are difficult to hit. The frame drops alone cause problems, and the input lag is inconsistent. I have hundreds of hours on the Switch (thousands on PS4), and there's not a single match where I don't fail at least one normal skill check. On average I probably fail a lot more than one per match, really, but it's hard to put a number on it with how RNG skill checks are.

Excluding RNG, if the skill check appears within the first half of the circle, the reaction time needed plus the low framerate plus the input lag means I cannot actually hit the skill check. Hell, sometimes the input lag alone means there's not enough room for me to hit the skill check if it appears too early in the circle.

  • @anarchy753 said:

I basically never see anyone fail DS. In my eyes the skill check only exists so that you have a choice in using it now, or potentially saving it for if they tunnel you off the next hook.

The game could just let the player press a button, like with Power Struggle and Dead Hard. The skill check made sense with original DS and was iffy with updated 60-seconds-off-the-hook DS. The skill check is an unnecessary gatekeeper now that there are so many restrictions: "It has to be within 60 seconds of being unhooked AND you can't do anything AND you have to not experience any hiccups in the game's performance."

  • I can't run DS because I can't hit the skill check on console. I fail it more than 80% of the time.

Even normal skill checks are difficult on Switch and I fail enough of them to feel very embarrassed. I damn near throw a party if I hit an Overcharge skill check.

The skill check on DS should've been removed when they reworked it so that performing most actions disables the perk. All the skill check does is prevent new players (who seriously need the perk) and console players (don't we suffer enough?) from using it.

  • When I have a daily ritual to mori a survivor, I usually equip Rancor and just kinda chase survivors around during the match. I often don't hook them because I need them to finish gens, and the moment the gens are done I down and mori the obsession. I feel a little bad doing it, I dunno for some reason the mori Daily Ritual stresses me out and I'm just relieved when it's done, but I do it because it awards a good number of points.

On the flip side as survivor, if a killer lets me do gens and unhooks and earn healing points, that's usually a lot more BP than I would get if they played for real from the beginning, so I don't really care if they kill me in the end. It only feels like trolling if say there's a BP offering involved and the killer refuses to participate, won't even swing his weapon, but then slugs everyone once the gens are done and so the match was a waste of time, because without the escape points you've earned basically nothing (this kind of nonsense is why I trash BP offerings when I prestige).

  • Most of my matches go: I bless a totem. A survivor runs the killer to it. The killer snuffs it. The survivor cleanses the dull totem.

I even had a survivor purposefully get me killed because the killer didn't seem to understand snuffing the boon totem (no, I'm not making an assumption, the survivor kept pointing at the hook as the killer carried me, and then they immediately ran to the boon totem rather than unhook me). As soon as I died, the survivor cleansed the now-dull totem.

If killers can destroy totems, then survivors need to lose the ability to cleanse dulls, in which case NOED has to be completely reworked. As of right now, with survivors being able to cleanse totems, totems are an extremely limited resource.

Also, when the survivor dies, if their boon totem is still standing, it should crumble to dust; no, you can't get me killed just so you can cleanse it.

  • The people who own the DLC aren't losing it, so it's not like they have to play Steve and Nancy and Demo right now or forever miss their chance. As long as they own it, they're fine.

It's the people who start playing the game after mid-November who will be upset that Stranger Things left.

As for the rest of the Stranger Things content, I'm going to miss Hawkins Lab when it's gone, and I already miss the old perk names.

    surge.jpg

    forever.

  • Right now I'm watching Downton Abbey, nearing the end of season four.

Before that it was The Haunting of Hill House, Squid Game (subtitled, for god's sake everyone subtitled), and Midnight Mass. Of the three, I enjoyed Squid Game the most.

I've also watched a bunch of movies. Most are pretty crap, so no point listing them all. Late Phases (2014) was enjoyable. Lesson of the Evil (2012) was long, but the crazy-ass payoff at the end was, well, crazy. Grabbers (2012) was quite amusing. Halloween (2018) was mostly good while Halloween Kills was (in my opinion) close to garbage.

I recently watched the entire Hellraiser series. Some were rewatches, some were firsts. I knew going into it that only the first three were truly worth watching, and I was proven correct. It was actually even worse than I expected; Hellraiser: Revelations is one of the worst movies I have ever seen, and that's saying something.

Same, absolutely the best times. Growing up, my favorite thing to do after school was going to the small, mom-and-pop video rental store (they had a small but great selection, a lot of hard-to-find movies/specials), I remember being absolutely enamored with the art on the sleeves and reading the descriptions on the back of them, picking out one or two for the weekend or holiday break, and my mother always fussing before we returned them to make sure I did rewind them. While its nice to have it all more easily available than driving to the local store, it is definitely not the same experience with ordering DVDs/Blu-Rays, or streaming services!

I'm currently very behind on watching anything, but was enjoying this season of What We Do In The Shadows a ton (going to watch the last few episodes I missed here soon), and at some point I really want to see Star Wars: Visions!

Ooh, I'm looking forward to the new season of What We Do In The Shadows. I loved the first two seasons. I was just waiting for season three to be over before watching it. Definitely one of the more entertaining shows currently on TV.

Ohhhhh thank you! So the plants spawn if people have selected the Tome V challenge but are only interactable if you are on that challenge?

Yes. I actually leave one of those challenges forever unfinished just to spawn in the Pustula Plant for the fun of it. I like seeing it around the map.

  • Prove Thyself lessens the penalty but doesn't completely negate it:

    https://deadbydaylight.fandom.com/wiki/Prove_Thyself#Prove_Thyself_Repair_speeds

With two people on a gen, it becomes very close to 100% repair speed per survivor, but it's still a tiny bit under. The more survivors on a gen, even with Prove Thyself, the more that drops. With four survivors on a gen with Prove Thyself, the speed per survivor is 80% (which is much better than the 55% it would be without Prove Thyself, but splitting up on separate gens is still more efficient).

Is that the meta? Survivors being spread out?

Because I disagree but I'm new. Working together knocks the gens out way faster

Actually, it's better for survivors to spread out. For one, gen repair is slower than 100% per survivor when you group up on a gen, so two survivors working on separate gens will get two gens done quicker than if those two survivors work together on one gen and then a second gen. Also, if survivors work on separate gens, the killer has a much more difficult time pressuring gens and slowing down repair progress: it's easier to get multiple survivors off one gen than it is to get multiple survivors off multiple gens. At the beginning of a match, if every survivor works on a separate generator, you can pop three gens by the time the killer gets their first hook (if the first player to get chased is halfway decent). Be aware enough to avoid a three gen and you can practically guarantee winning the match right there.

  • Yeah, I stopped running Blood Pact for a similar reason. I'd be injured, and the uninjured obsession would run the killer at me in a chase. Even had it happen where a never-been-hooked obsession got me mori'd doing that.

I like running info perks that tell me where other survivors are, but I've come to avoid perks that tell other survivors where I am.

  • Red Dead Online has a foggy day, my PS4 Pro's fans are silent.

Dying Light has fog, my PS4 Pro's fans are silent.

Dead by Daylight has fog, my PS4 sounds like a jet engine.

The fog in Red Dead Online and Dying Light looks so much better than the fog in DbD, too.

Battlefront II has forty players pitted against each other on a beautiful map with lots of visual effects and it runs just fine. Dying Light has smoke and fog and rain and flies buzzing around and twenty zombies coming at me in a giant city with me setting off fireworks and lighting crap on fire and it runs just freaking fine. The problem has never been the hardware.

They focus on mobile more than anything else because most people own a mobile phone than a console, streaming services like Google stadia or a PC. Especially in Asia. It's a smart business strategy and they can milk the cow forever.

Same with Wild Rift: League of Legends.

Eh, I'd choose Identity V over mobile DbD. The killers in Identity V look fun and interesting.

But personally I don't get invested in mobile games. They're just not my thing, I guess. I played Love Nikki for a little bit, but I never put in money and just ended up forgetting about it. The only mobile game I really liked was Monument Valley, but that was really short, not a multi-player or forever-ongoing type of game.

    That's me, though.

Have you tried Doom 2016 on the Switch? The game has 0 lag. You know why? Because ID Software knows how to program games.

    BHVR does not.

Hard to swallow the pill but that's the truth lol

Not hard to swallow, just annoying. Like I said, it's not that DbD can't run better, it's that BHVR didn't hire people who could properly port the game to console. That's been obvious from the start. The truly frustrating thing is that they continue to not hire people to fix it and instead keep saying "we're working on it," meanwhile performance keeps going downhill. But hey, they can hire people to make a perfectly functioning mobile game for players who never have to spend a dime, so I guess that's just a lesson that BHVR really doesn't deserve paying customers.

I wasn't even supposed to still be playing on Switch. Cross-progression with PC was supposed to already be a thing months ago.

You know what's funny? The mobile version doesn't lag at all LMFAO

The mobile version that runs on cell phones and is free doesn't lag and has bots? I wish I could laugh, but that's not funny.

[BAD WORD]ing hell, Switch players deserve their money back. I'm not joking or being hyperbolic there, Switch players were sold a broken product. It's not broken because BHVR can't do better, it's broken because they didn't hire a team wo knows how to port a game over to Switch. Plenty of much more graphically intensive games get ported to Switch and run beautifully.

  • Just played Freddy on Switch to do a daily. The survivors sent us to Dead Dawg Saloon. [BAD WORD] that was miserable. The frames dropped into the single digits if I turned the camera. I couldn't track survivors for crap. The colors are washed out, everything is blurry. it's hard to see anything at all.

It's depressing to think I paid money for the game given this performance. That they take money from people for this is shameful. Killer is not playable on Switch, it's not. That's half the game that's not playable, yet it's actually more expensive on Switch.

  • Blight has techs? All I ever experience when I play him is sliding off every single object like it's butter in a chase. I can only use his power to traverse the map, otherwise I'm just throwing.

I still play him, because he's the best killer on console for traversing the map quickly, but using his power in a chase is often a losing gamble. So, my opinion on what Blight needs is consistent, working collision. Unfortunately, every time the devs touch him, his collision has gotten worse.

  • When survivors teabag at me, I assume it means they don't want to be chased and want to focus on gens, so I just leave them alone. I've had a lot of matches where I leave my killer staring at an exit gate. It's unfortunate, but I don't want to be a toxic killer, so I don't force survivors to play a match they don't want to play. I hope the killers you teabag at are understanding like me; there's too much toxicity in this game.

If this is the case, then why did you even start this thread? It seems extremely unnecessary if it's already a foregone conclusion that the cosmetic is being removed. You've started an argument for something that you are sure is going to happen in the near future, anyway.

  • The devs just made the grind even worse by adding six perks with three tiers to the survivors' general pool. They've said they're working on reducing the grind, but their actions show the exact opposite.

I'm extremely annoyed/pissed off at the moment because I'm trying to level up characters and at level 50 in the Bloodweb I'm being forced to spend ridiculous amounts of Bloodpoints to get past these stupid Stranger Things perks to get perks I do want. The BP they've given away for Halloween doesn't even make up for it.

  • @Junylar said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2600562#Comment_2600562

Killers are the only ones who ever complain about DC, because killers wish to see solo survivors suffer in pain unable to leave this hell called "soloQ". Some killers get their sadistic fun out of witnessing all this suffering, so they feel dissatisfied when survivors are able to leave painlessly.

What? I'm playing survivor, and I hate when survivors DC. It's frustrating as hell to be damned to a horrible match because someone didn't like being the first survivor found.

  • The game can't tell if you're "being bullied." If you don't like the way the match is going, you can try to escape from the hook and then forget to hit two skill checks and leave the match that way, no penalty applied. It sounds like the killer is attempting to kill you quickly, anyway, so not sure why you'd rather wait 25 minutes by disconnecting instead of a few seconds by just dying within the match.

  • I let someone blind me with a flashbang yesterday, and the blind worked just fine. I've dropped flashbangs mid-chase and blinded killers and it didn't seem to slow them down, either. The blind doesn't last long and a lot of killers can still follow the survivor using headphones. Flashbangs are more for saves, really. If I use a flashbang for a blind in any instance other than a save, it's only for a challenge, not because I expect it to be useful.

  • What if the downed survivor is just trying to get healed? Maybe he wants to be picked up? It's not his fault the killer's following him.

If the killer's slugging my teammate for the 4k, a lot of times I just give myself up so we can all move the hell on. Oh no, I handed the killer his 4k because he killed 2 survivors. Let him have it if he wants it so bad he's willing to stand around doing nothing. Let his MMR go up for doing half the work, who cares. It's boring to wait out the bleed-out timer just to look for the hatch. And a lot of times, if the killer is slugging for the 4k and the slugged survivor doesn't crawl to his teammate, the killer will pick up the slugged survivor and force them back on their feet and drag it all out even further.

God the end game is so [BAD WORD]ing boring sometimes. It's sad that the game's design makes it so I'd rather give up and not play even though only two survivors are dead.

  • Grizzly Rage

    Hellraiser: Revelations

These are two of the worst movies ever made. There are no redeeming qualities. There's nothing funny about them. They're just bad: poorly written, poorly acted, poorly made, and absolutely boring.

Before those two movies, the worst horror movie I'd ever seen was The Item (1999). However, someone may get a couple laughs out of that one.

  • If it's the last two, I'll probably kill them both. I know when I'm playing survivor and I sandbag someone at the end, it's usually because they did nothing but hide all match or they kept trying to sandbag me, and often I'm not trying to get a free escape, I'm just trying to make sure we both die, so... yeah, as killer, I'll just assume it's the same deal. I mean, I don't want it to look like I'm working with the survivor who sandbagged, but I also doubt the survivor who got sandbagged was an innocent victim (sometimes they are, but still, if I kill both then I'm being fair about it).

If it's mid-match and there are more than two survivors left, I might give the one who got sandbagged a free pass for a bit. I recently had a match where I hooked a Steve, he got off the hook, and then a Dwight I was chasing (who hadn't been hooked yet) ran to a locker and gave up the still-injured Steve. That was so uncool. I downed Dwight and hooked him and pretended I never saw Steve in the locker. I still killed Steve later, but it was after making sure Dwight died.

It's not quite the same as sandbagging, but if I see an SWF group bullying a random solo, I'll kill the SWF group and let the random solo go. I'm not having that. Last time I remember that happening, I slugged the three to death, and the solo ran up and teabagged at them and ran back off. That made me laugh.

  • Wait, I play both killer and survivor. Which one am I grouped with? Am I a killer? Am I a survivor? Which toxic side am I???

Anyone who's not toxic in end game chat is allowed to complain. People play both sides, and people are the ones who can be toxic. Grouping everyone together in this game isn't helpful or constructive.

End game chat is a terrible place, I don't understand why some people want it brought to consoles. 99% of the time it's mentioned on these forums, it's for negative reasons.

  • @thelemonwolf said:

So you must really enjoy getting bad games where the killers just kind of stomp you and all you can do cuz theres now no countermeasure is say "alright let me just give up" or "let me hide while I wait for my team to die." Sounds really fun

Um, before this change, I constantly had teammates who would go into hiding and start waiting for everyone else to die after the first survivor was killed. Yeah, three survivors left in the match (including me), and two of them would crouch around on the outskirts refusing to participate because they wanted the hatch. Didn't matter if there were five gens left or one. It was frustrating as hell.

So far, I've seen that a lot less. Only time will tell if it stays that way. And, since the hatch change, I've gotten the hatch every single time I've been the last survivor left alive. Despite not knowing where it is, I manage to find it before the killer. The change has been great for me as a survivor.

Also, no more being the poor random shoved in with a three man SWF who get me killed on purpose so they can hatch out together. I hated that crap. SWF having a key/hatch advantage was super unhealthy for the game.

I've seen some people still using it but have no idea how they equipped it. I had CoH on Nea, but the game unequipped it, so I know that isn't how people can use it.

Well, I know that the day CoH was kill-switched, I had already opened up the game on Switch, so I could still use the perk. I left the game on all day just so I could use CoH; I was sad when I had to finally shut the system off.

However, it seems highly unlikely with all the crashes and infinite-loading screens that anyone has managed to keep the game from restarting for multiple days.

The game is the #9 played game on Steam and hit its peak 100k players concurrent this month and a few months back. The game is not crumbling or dying by any stretch of the word.

It just has an super overly-dramatic mega-entitled community that likes to feel victimized at every little thing that happens in the game.

He's talking about the game's stability: the crashes, the infinite loading screen, all the bugs.

The game is poorly coded. It was never meant to have a long shelf life, its huge success wasn't something the original devs planned for, and the more that's added into the game, the worse the game's performance gets.

The game cannot continue on like this. It does need to be re-coded from the ground up.

    @dbd900bach said:

It's safe to say at this point in dbds life, it's foundation can no longer hold the weight of everything built on top of it or is being currently built. It is perhaps the sole reason this game is crumbling, why everything has come out so badly. Sure maybe it is the devs being lazy, biased and so on but It is plausible to believe that it is the foundation.

Dead by daylight needs to be remade from the ground up from scratch with the intent of it supporting 10x much more weight than it holds now. Upgrading from a little office to a skyscraper dbd deserves to be if that makes sense. Obviously this would require a lot of resources which I doubt the dbd team will get but if they announced that they were going to rebuild the foundation and halt everything else, then I would be fine with that if it meant fixing everything. I am in no a programmer or game developer but I bet that the poor foundation is at least half the reason why there's so many things wrong with this game, unrelated to balance.

P.s Don't bring NTfs into this, this has nothing to do with that, also this isn't meant to be a hate post towards the devs or bhvr either

The game's problem is basically this: https://zettelkasten.sorenbjornstad.com/#FeaturesWhileTheWorldBurns

BHVR is adding features (new killers, survivors, perks, etc.) while the world burns. Why? Because they're not going to get accolades for re-coding it. They bring in Pinhead, and there are a million articles written, lots of press, money comes in. Fixing the underlying issues? There's no big reward for it. Unfortunately, that means the problems only ever get worse.

I did like the movie except for one part.

    spoilers btw

I didn't like the part where the asylum guy killed himself. Not because it was disturbing but because of the aftermath of it. The message of it was clearly showing how mental illness is treated in society. They see the asylum guy as Micheal because its easier to pin it on him then actually deal with Micheal. They drive a man who just wanted help to take his own life. It was a good message. Then they're just like "okay lets kill micheal now" not even 5 minutes later. Literally a minute after the dude jumps theyre back to the main story. So it really killed the impact of an important topic and turned it into filler.

Another thing would be some of the dialogue is clunky like "You came home Micheal". The same dude who said that just had his husband killed and he's like "Oh this would be perfect to say to the hulking death machine right in front of me". There has to be a level of realism to the dialogue and not just "hnnnng im so edgy im ######### edging rn hnnnng".

I hated that they did that. That whole scene with such a tragic ending, and then everyone turns around and forgets it, it has no lasting impact on the characters in the movie: the impact and meaning of it is for the audience only. The dialogue is the same way. "You came home, Michael." A lot of the dialogue sounds like it's written specifically to be in the trailer or at least is directed at the audience. (And Tommy never shuts up. I couldn't stand him. Tommy's not a character: from the start he's a personification of the attitude the director is warning against. He's a walking disease that spreads to everyone else.)
