I simply dislike Hag. I don't have a definable reason, I just don't enjoy playing as her.
Plague I have a definable reason: her power fails too often. The particle collision they use allows survivors to run through the stream and not get sickened/injured. Low framerates make her extremely painful to play as. As good as it feels to get hits with Corrupt Purge, overall she's more miserable than fun.
-
Gee, I'm so glad BHVR turned off being able to record video on the Switch. Just had a very frustrating match against a Huntress who was cheating. All four survivors were playing default Leon, but she always knew us apart. She beelined to every one of us constantly. Even though I hid in a locker on the other side of the map when she killed the last person, she came straight to me. The only thing she was running was tier 1 Territorial Imperative. But I can't prove anything without video.
It's sad that this game is broken in basically every way possible. Doesn't run well even on some higher-end PCs. Runs terrible on console. SBMM is painful. To make it even worse, there's cheating, DDOSing, and doxing. There's constantly new content, so DbD is obviously being worked on, but the game-breaking, misery-inducing problems remain.

Have you tried Darkwood? That one is actually pretty scary.
That's good to hear. It's on my Wishlist, but I haven't bought it yet. I have the Outlast, Amnesia, and Dead Space series sitting in my Steam library waiting for me. Have you played any of those?
-
Zombies are awesome on Hawkins, but that's about it. They're not necessarily good on other indoor maps, either; it's specifically Hawkins. So yeah, I'm annoyed because there's nothing that's immediately going to fill that gap, meaning Nemesis's zombies are just bad everywhere, now.
-
Heh, and I just made a thread about how I want bots in the game so I can actually get a match if I turn of cross-play.
I wouldn't even mind if I had bots as teammates when I play survivor. If they run around the map and participate, then they're already better than the majority of teammates I get now.
-
Why do so many mediocre add-ons have drawbacks but this strong add-on on a strong killer has no drawback?
There's a real imbalance here. It's like topsy-turvy land where backwards is forwards. I don't know that I'd add a drawback to Alchemist Ring, maybe just make it so that he recovers tokens at 2x or 1.5x the speed or something, but jeez, completely removing the cooldown that's there to balance your power as a reward for basically just using your power... is that not crazy? It certainly sounds crazy.
-
As an update, I turned cross-play back on, got an instant match... and I was miserable every moment of it. Absolutely miserable. After many awful matches, I gave up on the Tome challenges for tonight.
This is not a matter of ability. I completed all the Tome challenges on PS4. Playing killer on Switch is broken down to the most fundamental level. If survivors so much as turn, there's a very good chance an attempted hit will miss. This isn't about killer powers or anything; the most basic elements of playing killer are painful and frustrating.
If we can't get optimization and we can't get cross-progression, then please devs show you care even a little about Switch players and at least give us bots to play against.

At this point I fear it will never happen. And looking at the performance of the game on consoles and especially the Switch it has always been a mistake to bring this game to the Switch anyway.
i bought it because Cross progress was confirmed for September 2020 and I read that it’s not that bad. Big mistake on my part
^ This. My friend actually tried to return the game after discovering just how badly it played on the Switch, but of course Nintendo was like, "Nah." However, with cross-progression promised in just a week or so (at that time), it wasn't too big of a loss and at least we'd be able to move it over to Steam...
Sigh. I'm trying not to think about this, I'll have a mental breakdown if I do. DbD never should have been ported to Switch. Never.

Ds is currently below average perk
So what survivor perks do you like? As they are, right now, without any changes. Which survivor perks do you consider good?
-
Never. If I could go back in time I'd stop myself from ever installing it. They've never optimized for console and now cross-progression for Switch is a "maybe someday, if you're lucky" thing. I'm constantly worried DbD is going to overheat my PS4 and actually physically harm the system. My all-time favorite thing to do as killer was play Spirit and chase one person, then break off the chase and surprise someone else nearby who thought they were safe on a gen or healing. It was the best way to scare someone in this "horror" game, it was great, but with her nerf she can no longer do that.
The reason I started playing this game was for the Hallowed Blight 2018 event. I loved the theme and the cosmetics, so I started playing. That event has never happened since nor will it ever happen again, so I don't believe I'd be convinced to try the game out. There are other actual horror games that would be way more enticing (in fact, I'm playing Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water right now).

Obviously you weren't here 3or 4 years ago were killers were lobby dodging like it was going out of style.
I lobby dodge as survivor way more than I do as killer. I will not play survivor with 2+ Claudettes, forget it. I usually dodge lobbies with 2+ of the same survivor. I'll also dodge lobbies with another Switch player; one survivor playing on Switch per match (me) is a big enough handicap already.
I dodge lobbies as a survivor right now way more than I ever did while playing killer 3 years ago. That was a different time, though. Killers dodging a lobby 3 years ago sent all the survivors back to the end of the line, and SWF had to re-add each other, because there were no dedicated servers.

No, but why do you need to run both those perks. You could just run bond and botany knowledge. Many perks can break the game if 4 people have it. This is just a suggestion to be equal to all perks, but it could be applied to only the more powerful perks, which bhvr will never do.
While the increased recovery speed is definitely nice, we both run WGLF for the stacks. Without it, survivor feels very unrewarding in terms of points.
Yeah, your suggestion of "limit what perks SWF can use" is really more about how miserable it can be when multiple decent survivors run multiple powerful perks and are communicating. If a group of SWF all run the same build that isn't the meta, it's usually not as much of a problem. Or there are survivors like me and my friend: if we both ran the meta, we'd still totally suck at the game and die every match, perks wouldn't change that. (It's possible we should run the meta, then we might not die so quickly, but DH and DS are both out of the question on Switch.) It's sad that the meta is so strong that running it can be like god-mode for a good survivor, and not running it is probably seriously handicapping yourself as a bad survivor. Killers go just as hard on a meme build as on the meta.
-
My friend and I both run Empathy and WGLF. Is it really too OP for both of us to run those two perks?
-
You already have so many Bloodpoints that you don't want to earn more for helping your team by booning totems?
-
Do what others have done to me: point the booner out to the killer and get them hooked. Once they die, then you can cleanse the totem.
Or you could realize that totems are a limited resource, just like pallets. If someone else had cleansed the totem before you found it, then you still wouldn't get to cleanse it yourself. The only difference with it being booned is that the boon totem can help you more than a pile of already cleansed bones could.
-
Constantly bored. My friend and I play survivor together, and we have to make it fun, which means memeing and doing dumb stuff. Playing for real is usually at best boring and at worst miserable; we're better off dying in a funny way than working towards escaping. I was having fun with boon totems for a while, but I dunno, I don't feel like setting that crap up just for my teammates to run over and then get it seen by the killer or waste time flashlight-clicking at me instead of self-healing while I work on a gen two feet away from the boon.
-
Blight
Favorites:
- I can traverse the map quickly.
- I can catch up to a survivor in a chase.
Least Favorites:
- He glides along half the map like butter.
- I'm on console, so I can't do the flicks or techs or anything.
- Controller aim is clunky and in narrow spaces I bump into the environment when I don't want to, basically getting stuck in areas until the Rush ends.
- Even at the highest sensitivity on controller, aiming him after bumping into something is slow and difficult. It's not uncommon that I run out of time, ending the Rush prematurely.
Nemesis
Favorite:
- Zombies on Hawkins Lab.
Least Favorite:
- Zombie AI everywhere else.
-
Lately it seems like I always die to Pyramid Head and Trapper. Also, I'd like to see fewer Pyramid Heads, I go against him way too often.
-
Lightborn - life just feels better with it
Bloodwarden - I don't run it often, but when I do it's super-satisfying to get multiple kills with it

But why do you have to pay to then earn? That concept never made sense to me. You have to earn stuff anyway but then you pay to just earn more again? I feel like the amount of skins you get in the rift is just the amount you should get for $10 period in the game without having to grind after already paying.
I don't pay to earn. I put in 1000 auric cells after I reached level 70 on the first Rift, and I got a whole bunch of cosmetics and charms and also immediately got all my cells back. Then, for the next Rift, after I reached level 70, I did it again. That's how it's always been. I've never paid to earn. If I decide I want to stop doing the Rift and buy cosmetics with those cells instead, I can.
I've gotten eight Rifts' worth of cosmetics for one $10 payment. And I'd love to always get that much in-game stuff for just $10. All of us would love more stuff for less money, hell yeah.

I just hard camp and tunnel Mikaela's and watch 'em DC and laugh
Yeah, during the event my friend went in as Mikaela with no boon perks and was getting tunneled while I went in as other characters with boon perks and laughed at him the whole time. It was great. I mean, he spent the whole time on the hook, but I was getting tons of points booning totems while the killer was busy with him, so I was happy.
-
I like having the Rifts. It gives me something to work towards. There's no need for the cosmetics in them to be exclusive. Not being exclusive doesn't make the cosmetics worth less, I'm still getting a bunch of cosmetics for having paid $10 once for the first Rift and that's all. It's not pointless: it gives players the option to earn some skins through gameplay, but it kindly doesn't force them to nor does it punish people who miss out.
-
Without pumpkins anymore it doesn't even feel worth my time to go looking at totem spots. Boons can be fun but the teammates I'm getting, I'd really rather we all die than use a perk that might help them. It's unfortunate: one way or another, the matches go a lot faster when I'm not wasting time booning.
-
Sensitivity on console, even at 100%, isn't always enough. And I've gotten blinded while facing walls with the survivor out of my line of sight. No, Lightborn shouldn't be a hex. I have Lightborn equipped 100% of the time because ever since dedicated servers the game has been broken and flashlights will blind even when they shouldn't.
-
I agree. People who worked on the Midnight Grove tome should have access to the tome and its entries in the archive.

What was the news?
This:
@DeathByGiggles said:
Yesterday, we announced Dead by Daylight’s inclusion in the Epic Games Store catalogue. While we’re thrilled to provide cross-platform progression between Epic, Steam, and Stadia at launch, we also realize this may raise some questions regarding the arrival of cross-progression for Switch, announced last year.
On any platform our goal is always to deliver the best, most consistent cross-progression experience we can that includes everything our players have purchased to date. Due to technical aspects beyond our control, transferring DLC between all platforms has not been possible, significantly impacting that experience. As a result, while we remain dedicated to doing everything we can to resolve the issue, we can no longer provide a clear ETA on when cross-progression will be available on Switch.
We’ll keep you posted with any new updates as we continue working on the matter. We understand a lot of you are looking forward to this feature (we are too!) and we appreciate your patience!

Oof, like an hour after posting this you saw BHVR's news announcement.
I feel your pain, man. I am so sorry, for both our losses. 💀⚰️

Play only inside the darkest of rooms, so your screen is bright in comparison
I've done that on the handheld Switch, but it still requires turning up the screen brightness (meaning the backlight, because it's a hardware setting, not an in-game setting) to max, which causes eye fatigue and headaches within literally a couple matches.
The game needs an in-game brightness slider, at least for consoles. Even on the same TV, there's a difference between the game's brightness on PS4 vs Switch. It's annoying that having a semi-consistent experience between platforms would require re-adjusting the TV each time.

We have made an announcement a little while ago about the current situation with regards to Switch cross progression
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/293817/switch-cross-progression-update#latest
Due to technical aspects beyond our control, transferring DLC between all platforms has not been possible
This sounds quite final. The announcement ends with "thanks for your patience," but the "has not been possible" part makes it sound like no amount of patience will be rewarded.
I'm sure a lot of people, and this includes me, bought the Stranger Things DLC and cosmetics on the Switch because cross-progression had been guaranteed, but now we all spent a hell of a lot of money for irreplaceable content on a barely playable platform.
Words can't express how not okay this is. With each new chapter that comes out I just hope that's not the chapter that makes the game completely unplayable on Switch, but it's only a matter of time. And when it finally dies, so will my access to the Stranger Things content. It's extremely frustrating because I did the right thing with the information BHVR had given us and then mere days after making the purchases this news comes out. If this cross-progression news had been released before announcing Stranger Things was leaving, I would've made different choices.
I only ever bought DbD on Switch because cross-progression had a set date and it was days away at the time, so I could grind on the go but have actual fun playing it when I got back home to my PC. But the actual fun part never came and possibly never will, now. What I and the other Switch players have is a dark, low-fps, stuttering mess. You know I only play half the game on Switch? I cannot play killer, it is miserable to attempt killer on the Switch.
It's my Stranger Things content being locked to a platform that barely works that has me so, so frustrated, though.
(I'm not so ignorant that I'm mad at the mods on the forums. I'm just mad that the game was ever released on Switch, really, because it shouldn't have been. The forums are where I can express that.)

Very much this. I got DBD on PC at the time cross progression was announced to be coming by the end of Q2 and bought DLC that I didnt have on my switch account becuase I thought I would be able to get all of it when cross progression came out soon... well that was a mistake lol. I play PC almost all the time now but I still have like half of my DLC (including stranger things which I was promised would still transfer even after they are gone... no doubt that promise will probably be broken too .-.) and rift items etc etc on Switch. I just don't understand how the delays are *this bad* considering they were set on delivering it by end of Q2. What happened?? Did they not investigate what to do before starting it?? It's crazy and just another slap in the face to their fans.
Yeah, I bought all the DLC for the Switch. I bought the Stranger Things DLC and the Stranger Things cosmetics on the Switch. I would not have bought any DLC if I'd known it wouldn't get cross-progression.
Oh my god, I'd be upset no matter what, but the Stranger Things DLC going away in a few days has me ready to lose it. And my reaction to "BHVR has seriously screwed up" is not to go out and give them more money for it. So I guess I am stuck with the Switch's terrible performance, and that is just... so unacceptable.
@CheyeneKL said:
I literally don't even know what could be delaying it. They said "unforeseen technical difficulties" but I just find it a little difficult to believe it's solely based on that, considering they've apparently been able to do it for other platforms, and other games seem to have absolutely no issue doing cross platform progression. It just is so disappointing that they keep delaying it after giving MULTIPLE different ETAs.
This:
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/N8OXDDEVDYWI/20211111-093722.jpg
does NOT sound promising and I'm honestly REALLY irritated over it.
At this point, I don't even care if I have to rebuy all the DLC I had purchased on the Switch- just give me my cosmetics and character levels, and I'll be fine. I have rift cosmetics that don't appear to be coming back to the shop any time soon (that lovely pink/blue Feng recolor...!) and I'm really annoyed that 1k hours in the game on Switch basically went to waste, after being told time and time again that cross progression was coming.
If having your full library of purchased DLC between platforms is impossible, good grief, BHVR, just give us what you can. I and many others DO NOT CARE at this point. I will GLADLY give you more money you don't deserve if I can have the other things I worked and played hard for. It's not like I haven't already repurchased half of the DLC I already bought on Switch, anyways lmao

I’m sure switch players care way more about having their save file transferred than some stupid dlc they can buy on pc for €2 a piece. This just sounds like an excuse nothing more. I have some friends on playstation that want to switch to pc too but don’t want to because they’ll have to start over from scratch. I guess cross progression is really low priority for them
... except, one problem with this, the Stranger Things DLC is being removed from the store. So, it's actually rather important that the Stranger Things characters and outfits cross over. I wouldn't be as frustrated as I am right now if that weren't the case.
I am so upset at the thought that I bought the Stranger Things DLC and cosmetics to make sure I'd have access to them and it might have been a total waste of money (and that's no small amount of money, either) because, let's be honest, the game is barely playable on Switch right now and it only ever gets worse.
-
Agh. My frustration is immeasurable. I only got it on Switch because cross-progression had a set date. The delay has been annoying. This news is... ohmigod, BHVR, this game is so broken on Switch, give everyone on this platform their money back if cross-progression isn't in the near future.
Jesus, I might actually have a breakdown.
-
The game used to have 3v1 with 4 gens when a survivor disconnected during the loading screen. It was awful, an insanely easy win for most killers. So, I dunno about 5v1, but I definitely don't want to go back to the days of 3v1 matches.

And another queue time discussion bare any useful information.
Can people pls start such discussion with information like this:
I play on PC, eu west (Germany to be precise), X-Play on, after 8pm local time and have instant lobbies as killer. I can't even check my offerings before getting the pop.
^ This. Region and time of day are two of the most important factors when it comes to queue length and which side has the longer queue.
For instance, on the USA (west?) servers I get instant survivor queues during the day and instant killer queues in the evening after about 7pm or 8pm.
-
That's working as intended. Which is surprising, because that's so often been broken.
-
Like I mentioned in another thread about the same topic, through history most sadistic killers have been male. Most. It's rare, but there are a small number of females. Elizabeth Bathory is a well known unsympathetic female killer, and I think people would love to see a character inspired by her in DbD.
-
I dunno, she seems like Candyman to me. She's an artist, her hand(s) are cut off by a group of people, she has crows instead of bees.
To be fair, though, I haven't played EW2. I keep meaning to, but so far I've only played EW1.
Edit: To reword something I messed up on, 'cause I'm forgetful sometimes.
-
I like playing Myers, so when I see someone else playing Myers when I'm survivor I'll be like, "Yay! Hi!" I'm always disappointed when they just down me instead of tiering up, like what the hell, why wouldn't you take the easy tier up?? But whatever.
No, I don't take this game very seriously.
-
I think this is part of the reason it's a bad idea to write overly detailed backstories for characters in this game. I hate when movies and stories explain everything. I love the mystery of the unknown. I love when things are left up to interpretation. Horror especially is a genre where filling in the blanks with your own fears is super effective.
Some people may prefer to debate whether a character was a villain or a victim, and that was sometimes possible with the old short lore, but ever since Huntress the length of the text just grew and grew. I'm honestly surprised so many people read the lore. I find it tedious. But I think my opinion is often not the popular opinion, so... eh.
Anyway, more on topic, I know most sadistic killers are male, but there have been a few sadistic female killers. Where's our Elizabeth Bathory? It seems way past time. I don't really care that the writers fall back on tragedy and torture as an easy way to engage the readers, it's a pretty standard horror trope, but I would like to see a Bathory-esque killer. Give her some spider traits (black widow, not tarantula) and boom! Winner.
-
My friend and I died in a match because we had to take all the aggro, especially to get the final gen done. One of the other survivors stayed in the match and made sure the killer saw her teabagging before leaving through the exit gate. She earned soooo much less than me and my friend, and we died.
Why is it the useless ones who do that nonsense? No, never mind, I know the answer to that, but still, it's embarrassing.

i agree with this mostly but in all ptbs i never game across a game breaking bug that made me unable to play
Really? Sometimes new maps have spots where players can fall through or get stuck. Those are game-breaking bugs.
Even if a bug's not "game-breaking," because one of the purposes of the PTB is to find bugs, players will go in and mess around with bugs they know of, and if the randoms who get put in the same lobby don't want to be part of that then they shouldn't be penalized for disconnecting. The PTB doesn't have matchmaking turned on and it doesn't affect a player's rank within skill-based matchmaking. Players don't permanently gain or lose anything within the PTB. It's like a sandbox.
-
The PTB is a "public TEST build." It's not uncommon for a test build to have bugs, including game breaking bugs. You can't have a DC penalty when you're asking people to test out your product and report bugs they find.

I don't want killers to reapply totems or have more dull ones.
Only thing is necessary is to make boons one time use only so it's power varies from how actually good use u give to it. Survivors should stop rely on it and spam all over but instead should think through game and place it when they actually need it. It will be fair skillcap perk that shows how actually good u are, and won't be abused as it is now.
Riiiight... I carefully think and place one down, two seconds later one survivor (or two! today I saw two survivors in one match do it!) runs the killer over and points at the boon repeatedly, and that's the end of that. Why would anyone ever run a perk that your teammates can (with total finality) grief you out of two seconds later. At least right now when they do that I can place a new one.
Being a one-time use would take away the best way to play DbD: ignore gens completely and go in circles around the map blessing totems over and over again. Maxes out Boldness points pretty quickly, and it's a totally ridiculous thing to do. Woo! (Nah, I never actually get to do this. I'm a killer magnet, they always somehow find me even if I'm miles away from any gen.)
-
I got the Tome challenge done on PS4 against an AFK survivor, thank the lord for that.
I'm dreading doing it on the Switch. That's going to really suck.
-
Ever since this hatch change, I get the hatch almost every time when I'm the last survivor left alive. It's great.
I wouldn't mind if the hatch still spawned once all five gens are done, I thought that was an unnecessary change, but considering that change required altering an achievement (which is a huge pain with Sony) I doubt the devs did that lightly, so they must have their reasons.
-
I barely saw him at all when he was released. After a couple days it dropped from "barely at all" to "practically never." I don't think the average person likes playing a killer with an extremely difficult-to-aim ability that has very little effect and is ridiculously punishing when you miss. It's [BAD WORD]ing awful trying to aim that nonsense on a controller, and with a bad framerate he's best as an M1 killer with a second objective for survivors. There is no point trying to use his chains on Switch, it's more painful than walking on LEGO bricks.

Oh. i thought it used to go forever but thats just what i have heard
I don't know if players ever used to be able to earn an unlimited number of BP in a match, but that's not the question here. The thing this poll specifically is asking about is removing the 8k limit per category but keeping the 32k max.
Personally, I like that idea. It's so easy to max out one category and get nothing in the others, especially the Survival category. If the killer is chasing me and I max out Boldness and I have a feeling I won't get a chance to do anything else in the match, I'll just... stop. I dunno if the killer realizes why I stop or if they think I've just given up, but if I'm not earning BP, then my time is being wasted. I know other people who are the same way. Fun is fun and all, but in this game trying to get the perks I want on a character just takes forever even if I'm as efficient as possible.
-
I haven't played Spirit for a long time, but when I did play her it was because I enjoyed chasing one survivor, then surprising a nearby survivor who wasn't expecting it. You can't do that anymore, so what's the point? The fun thing was her unpredictability in those situations (I got some good scares doing that), but unfortunately not knowing what she was doing at loops wasn't fun, and you can't change that aspect without changing the other.
Edit: I guess I should point out, I wasn't necessarily a good Spirit player. I just liked that she was one of the few killers who could get messages like, "Oh my god, you really terrified me at that one part!" after a match. That kind of thing made me stupid happy.

I will tunnel you because other 3 guys have Dead hard which make its so hard for me to tunnel them.
Yeah, that's the truth. It's all "don't blame me for tunneling if you use this" but really it's "if you don't use this I'll tunnel you because it's easier." The killer wants to eat the DS and get it out of the way early. Oh, the survivor isn't running DS? Great! Back on the hook you go. 😒 ... Dude. C'mon. Killers complain about the meta but meme builds are a death sentence.
I'm still gonna meme though, because playing for real in this game is the least fun thing a person can do. I am so confused by players who take this game seriously. You haven't lived until your friend has gotten you off the hook and then the two of you keep trying to push in front of the other to get a protection hit while the killer stands there just looking at the both of you. (I wasn't even running WGLF; I just thought it was funny.)
Anyway, for now, I'd rather die than run Dead Hard. And I do die. A lot. ❤️💀

the word "abuse" and "toxic" are both way overused on these forums. No perk is abusable if you're using it.
I agree with this 99.9%... except for the previous version of DS when a survivor would do something like hop on a gen in the killer's face, get pulled off, DS the killer, and then pop the gen. I saw that happen too often when I played survivor. Maybe it wasn't abusing the perk, but I'd feel bad for the killer. I always quietly hoped for the survivor to get tunneled out after.

So it's the survivors' fault and they should get less points if the killer decides to throw the whole match and chase one player all game, and doesn't down them so the survivors have no way of healing because nobody else is injured?
If you want to "trade off looping" as you said, then you can voluntarily try to get chased, sure, but that doesn't mean the killer has any obligation to actually go for you.
^ This. Recently had more than one killer throw the match chasing me, and other people tried to get between us and he just refused to switch targets, even if I ran circles around a gen being worked on.
Also, when it's a Nurse who does this, I get no points despite being chased all match because she's too far behind, chase doesn't proc. The BP return is even worse if it's The Twins, running Victor around doesn't count as chase period.

I dunno, some survivors are awful. Two days ago one survivor DC'd because I refused to chase them and then a second survivor DC'd not long after being unhooked. So, there were two survivors left, I felt bad, so I went and stood near an exit gate to let them do gens and escape... they took 10+ minutes to do two gens. Not even kidding. With crap like that, no survivor should ever expect or feel entitled to killers being nice about DCs. You never know when it's going to bite you in the ass and make you regret all your life choices.
