  • God, I hope not. From what I've seen, dedicated servers are nowhere near ready to roll out for all players. We already have worse FPS than PC users, do we really need to be punished with dedicated servers, too?

  • I can't get past the "press x to start" screen. Keeps giving me errors about connecting to the service. It's not my internet or anything, 'cause now my friend is using the PS4 to play Red Dead Online, instead.

  • Playing against her sucks. I get very few chase points because she falls so damn far behind that it doesn't count us as still being in a chase. I shouldn't have to stop and wait for the killer to catch up to get Boldness points.

  • I'm also on PS4.

When playing killer, I've been yelled at by survivors for not playing the way they think I should play.

When playing survivor, I've been yelled at by survivors for not playing the way they think I should play. (Even back when I was new at the game and still learning, and I tried to point that out and apologize, the invective didn't abate. Admitting I wasn't good just got me, "Yeah, you got that right." -_- Way to encourage new players to stick with the game, guys.)

I do not know what it is about playing survivor that brings this out in some people.

  • I run Beast of Prey, Distressing, BBQ, and Whispers for most of my killer matches. Doesn't matter which killer. Easy farming with three Bloodpoint perks. No add-ons, so I'm in the black no matter how poorly the match goes.

When I play Totem Protector Bubba, I run Beast of Prey, Distressing, Lightborn, and Hex: Ruin. I used to run BBQ, but flashlights have become so prevalent--and I often don't hook anyone when doing this meme, anyway--that I replaced it with Lightborn: it's great how survivors will park themselves nearby and stand there trying to blind me as I walk over and chainsaw them.

My friend enjoys goofing off as survivor with Plunderer's, Ace in the Hole, Unbreakable, and Empathy. He mostly searches chests and dies, because he's terrible at survivor, but he has fun doing it.

Absolutely, if you cannot come up with enough content to put spread over the tiers of the rift, then shoddy recolours of the same charm are not adequate substitutes, especially when 8/10 are paid for.

We don't have any for Brutal Strength, Unnerving Presence, Agitation, Botany Knowledge or Self-Care, only Empathy. Those would at least make a cute little collection, and that would fill up the slots of 5/8 of those recolours.

For some reason we got Feng's Technician perk which just seems out of place. At least if this rift let us make a collection of Claudette and Trapper pieces, each in future could build on that. Instead we got 2 perks and one doesn't even fit the rift.

I know, I don't get it! Why is Technician one of the charms? And the arcade machine? (Which is cute, but this is the one charm I'd actually like to see recolors of, because bright pink is pretty polarizing.) The charms should be themed to Halloween, Trapper, and Claudette. That would make the most sense.

I'm also annoyed that the cosmetics feel incomplete. Hag gets a body and arm but no matching hair (which she needs). Huntress gets a weapon and head but no body. It's like a grab bag with doll parts that when combined can never form a whole. When DbD puts the cosmetics in the store in six months, are the missing matching cosmetics to form a full outfit going to be there? Are players going to have to buy the finishing pieces separately? Because I don't think people would take kindly to that.

  • I agree.

It would also be nice if each free tier of The Rift gave a few Bloodpoints or something.

Also, if future Rifts are going to be just like this one, then they should reduce the number of tiers. How many tiers on the Rift give recolored Trapper head and perk icon charms? Too many. Players' charm inventories are about to become the overflowing junk drawers of this game.

  • Killer and survivor queue times change depending on time, day of the week, platform, and region. In other words, it's pretty much different for everyone.

  • Don't feel dirty. I did the challenge by gathering up all my traps and setting them in one spot, then I began stepping in the traps. The survivors saw me and followed suit. We had a blast.

  • I just think that if multiple map offerings are burned, then only the offerings for the map which is actually gone to should be consumed and everyone else should have their map offerings returned to them. Someone burns their one map offering and another player burns a competing map offering, the unlucky soul who chose the wrong match for which to burn their offering shouldn't lose it. That just sucks. Players can go through a lot of Bloodweb levels and even millions of Bloodpoints before getting another offering for a specific realm. There's no reason to consume a map offering when the player didn't even get to go to that map.

I also think killer map offerings should get preferential treatment over survivor map offerings. The killer is basically the Dungeon Keeper. A killer tricked out for one map getting put on the wrong map... that can end up being a really boring match for the survivors. Not only are the killer's add-ons and map offering wasted in these situations, but there's no challenge for the survivors if the killer is neutered by the map before the match even starts.

  • I usually play whichever side has faster load times. On PS4 the queue times go up and down. Sometimes survivor is instant and sometimes killer is instant.

I meme around all the time as killer. I doubt I would meme around if load times took forever. If load times take too long, I usually just stop playing altogether and do something else, anyway.

Taking DbD seriously is a surefire way to misery. Goofing off and memeing is the best. I got a nasty tirade of messages from a survivor last night because apparently they take the game seriously and don't appreciate the fact that I don't. Just sort of reinforced my desire to meme around.

  • She's just not fun. Doesn't matter if I can get kills with her or not if playing as her isn't fun.

In Hawkin's you litterally have ambience noises all over so you can't hear anything, plus gen noises muffle the footsteps. Again, in the maps all Mirror Myers used, you couldn't see anything. It was clearly broken if the devs fixed it. You no longer have an almost guaranteed game, now you have to mind game SC users, the horror /s

Btw asking everyone to just buy headphones shows how broken it was. I shouldn't need anything outside game mechanics to counter something

The game's audio is part of its mechanics. Headphones are just equipment. You need a computer/console and keyboard/mouse/controller and speakers/headphones. Using better equipment will get better results.

Other video games are the same way. I don't need to have headphones to play a shooter, but if I do have headphones then I can hear the guy trying to attack from behind me. If I play without headphones, I accept that I'm handicapping myself.

Tier 1 Myers should be immune to Spine Chill. The devs never said him being immune to Spine Chill was broken. They said they made the change to keep the killers consistent. However, that's a poor reason to change him. Each killer is different. Just because the others aren't immune to Spine Chill doesn't mean he shouldn't be.

  • I try to go easy on survivors who seem to be struggling in my matches. If they keep running right into me, they're either really inexperienced or they're having a very unlucky game. I wish I knew for sure when really low ranked survivors were in my lobby so I could try to give them a fun match, because sometimes I do mistake newbie immersion for deliberate selfishness and then I feel bad for killing them.

  • People on the PTB look like they're having so much fun with him.

I play on console; it makes me sad to know I probably won't get to play him while he's fun.

  • Was watching my friend play survivor earlier. After dying, he spectated a rank 13 survivor (last survivor alive) being a bad sport and BMing the killer before leaving via the hatch. The killer was a rank 20 with only one tier 1 perk.

It spoiled my friend's mood and he turned the game off after that.

The matchmaking is such crap. What's the point of having the ranks divided up by color if the matchmaking pulls from a range of 6 above or below? Rank 16 killers getting a lobby of green rank survivors. Rank 20 killers with one tier 1 perk, no add-ons, and like five minutes of playtime going against survivors with four tier 3 perks + items and add-ons. It's busted.

  • Probably Feng Min's. Though Ash's upcoming one looks pretty sweet.

  • And yesterday I had the problem of teammates who refused to heal me.

Hook-camping Huntress. A David manages to trade places with me on the hook. I try to find another survivor to heal me. Finally, Nea pops a gen and I run over to her. She ignores me. I click my flashlight at her and she just looks at me and walks away. She goes over to try to save David, but it's a half-assed attempt: she takes one hit and then runs away. We might've saved him if I'd been healthy and we could work together as a team. But no, David dies, and I soon get hooked (and die) because no one would heal me.

Had a Claudette later who rescued me off the hook then started working on a 0% gen and refused to heal me. Oh, what fun playing solo survivor is.

Also had an incident where I rescued a Jake. He runs up on the Pale Rose and I follow him. Obviously, I want to heal him if I'm following him. He stops right next to a chest, and the moment I press the button to start healing him he starts self caring, so instead of healing him the game decides I meant to open and immediately close the chest right next to him. sigh. Why would you start self caring next to a chest when I'm following you?

  • I don't get why they gave her a new vault animation like this. It's comically bad. All they had to do was have her immediately grab the ledge or something as soon as the vault starts, then phase through like always. Survivors will clearly see she's vaulting, but she keeps her current awesome animation.

  • The challenge I had the biggest problem with was the flashlight the killer twice in one match challenge. I never use flashlights, so I'm terrible trying to aim the thing. It's hard to aim without a reitcle when using a controller. Hell, it's hard with a reticle. I finally did complete the challenge, against a Demogorgon, go figure. I get the killer with no eyes and suddenly I'm spot on with aiming the flashlight.

I really wish the devs would stop with this "in one trial" stuff. I'm worried about what tome levels 3 and 4 hold in store. I don't feel that flashlighting a killer multiple times in one trial is a good challenge. I felt bad doing it, too. After I blinded the killer the second time, I went to a hook and pointed at it. I shouldn't feel like a dick just for trying to complete these challenges.

This happens with every game. Play a Horror game which was terrifying for you like 5 times in a row, you will not be scared.

I mean, Amnesia - The Dark Descent was REALLY scary at first. Later you only try to glitch out the monsters instead of running away from them.

Darker Maps would help tho. The Maps dont look dark at all. But yeah, it needs to be easy for Killers to see people I guess...

They could have the maps darker for survivors and brighter for killers. That's what Battlefront II does for their "horror" mode: the victims need flashlights to see anything while the hunters have great night vision.

Most of the DbD maps are bright as daylight. It really doesn't try much in terms of "horror." Other than using killers from slashers and a few of the mori animations, there's very little in the game that has an actual horror feel to it.

  • There's no real way to nerf SWF. And you can't punish people for playing with their friends. They need to buff solo survivors, give them more information so solo and SWF are on even ground, and then buff killers accordingly. Attempting to balance killers around solo when SWF is in the game is making both killers and solo survivors miserable.

  • I did this by memeing. I set up all my traps in one spot, then I started stepping into one of them. Another survivor saw me, and soon everyone was stepping in my traps and we all had a blast.

I'm sure if you're good at playing Trapper it could be done legit, but I didn't feel like bothering with that nonsense when I could do something really stupid instead.

  • I've been playing Dying Light recently. It's awesome.

  • Mind games are fun. Effectively using the power of whichever killer I've chosen is fun. Pulling off daring saves as a survivor is fun. Managing to break line of sight and lose the killer in a chase is fun. Stealthing when the killer is right there and managing not to be seen is fun.

Looping isn't fun. If I'm being looped as killer, it's just repetitive and a waste of time and I'll ditch the survivor and go elsewhere. If I'm looping as a survivor, which is rare 'cause I suck at it, but if I am, well, it doesn't feel satisfying: it just feels like I'm running in circles. Which I am. I kinda feel like I'm abusing the killer at that point.

  • I don't camp. That's why I think playing killer is hard. I try to hook each survivor once. Then I try to hook each survivor a second time. If I actually plan on sacrificing anyone that round, I usually try to have everyone on death hook before the first one dies.

That's not easy. That's a lot of juggling, and it can be stressful.

I hate the Hawkins map. It's the only map where I won't bother as killer or survivor. If killer I'll patrol gens but won't chase, if survivor I'll work on gens but won't run. I have no desire to play on the map and will just take my depip as quickly as possible and move on.

I feel much the same way. I hate that map. It's nothing but LoS blockers, and I still get constantly lost on it. I'll half-ass any match I play there.

  • They just need to implement the husk mechanic for disconnecting survivors, then this wouldn't be such an issue, anymore.

  • I recently saw a survivor accuse my friend of tunneling. It was two minutes into the game, no hooks yet. He finds Claudette and starts chasing her. She jumps into a locker, he pulls her out, and she disconnects, then sends messages accusing him of tunneling and saying tunneling is cheating and she's gonna report him and get him banned.

I still can't figure out what in the survivor's head tunneling means if that's what she thinks it is.

It's amazing. Survivors think they can report a killer and get them banned for daring to play the game at all.

That's a nice tip, with the interupt challange, was thinking about doing scratched mirror Myers in Lerrys, but your idea sounds fun too =)

I have also done the same trick with Spirit and the basement chest, standing in one corner and waiting for a survivor to come down and start searching it. More often than not someone will take the chance. Can't use Insidious for it, 'cause your TR will come back the moment you start to use your power. You just have to stand still, no matter how much they run around or flashlight you, so they think you AFK'd in the basement.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xkxg663-BSc&t=2m26s

It's a compilation of the basement chest trick in action. It shouldn't work, it really shouldn't, but it does. I'd say doing it with Ruin is more of a sure thing, though; survivors are more likely to take the risk to cleanse Ruin than to search the basement chest.

the olds ds was easily avoidable by dropping a survivor and hook him actually, with the new you cant. actually i prefer the olds ds when aswell enduring countered yeah.

Old DS was only able to be countered vs the Obsession (and they had to be close to a hook, and if any of their friends tried to body block then that was it, you were screwed). If all 4 survivors ran it, then the 3 who weren't the obsession would stab you after you'd already wasted a lot of time getting them most of the way to the hook. And Enduring didn't counter it, it just shortened the stun.

Old DS was awful. New DS can at least mostly be countered by slugging and not tunneling. The only problem with it is that it can still hurt killers even when they don't tunnel. 60 seconds of immunity is a long time for doing nothing other than getting hooked.

  • Why are survivors so determined to take away the killer's ability to hook them? They want wiggle speed increased. They want fewer hooks on the map. A killer's whole purpose is to hook survivors. That's the thing they need to be able to do after they manage to win a chase. Or would survivors rather play a generator repair sim without any killers at all?

I get stuck on the stupid environment all the time while trying to carry survivors to a hook, I can't imagine the number of times I would've lost someone off my shoulder without the "hook vacuum." A 5% speed increase would be even worse.

Sure, I'd love to get off the killer's shoulder more often as survivor. There have been times I got soooo close and man, it woulda been great if I'd escaped. But at the same time, I lost the chase, and moving the little stick on my controller doesn't really count as earning a second chance, it doesn't take skill; it's just there to prevent the killer from being able to carry me across the map.

And if another survivor equips Leader, you get a 25% speed increase to cleansing totems. Don't need an extra 5% on top of that.

  • If DS is an anti-tunnel perk, then it at least shouldn't be able to activate during the EGC or if there's only one survivor left alive. Tunneling is something that happens early in the game, not at the end of it.

  • Nope. I've been using Ruin, Lightborn (too many flashlights recently), Beast of Prey (so I get lots of points just for them running around in front of me), and BBQ. I just stand there, often with the chainsaw revved. If I leave him standing there a little ways back from the totem, in the majority of matches I've had a survivor will try to cleanse it hoping I'm afk. It's crazy.

I did the same thing with Spirit to do the "interrupt grab" challenge. I just stood there staring at the totem, and a survivor started cleansing it in front of me, so I phase-walked the two feet and grabbed them.

  • I did this one by equipping Ruin as Spirit. Then I just stood there and stared at it until a survivor came over and started cleansing it right in front of me. I phase-walked the two feet and grabbed them off of it.

  • If they'd just implement the husk mechanic, this wouldn't be such an issue. They really should've added husks for disconnected players before releasing the Archives/Rift.

  • I look forward to the day something is done about disconnects. Tired of it happening early on in a game and ruining the match for everyone. And survivors disconnecting to give the last one the hatch... ugh.

Had a new one happen to me today. There was this one Meg in the match who was obviously a lower ranked player (or having a really unlucky match). Anyway, it seemed mean to kill her, so when it was down to two left, I went looking for the other one. The Meg followed me around a bit and then disconnected to give her higher ranked friend the hatch.

No one was slugged. Either of them could've been working on gens, but they weren't. The fourth survivor was just camping the hatch. The hatch shouldn't be a goal, and where is the husk mechanic so that disconnecting doesn't automatically pop the thing open?

The Meg was a rank 18. Seems mean to have her disconnect and take the hatch for yourself.

  • The thing that really gets me is having to keep selecting challenges when I switch back and forth between killer and survivor.

Play survivor, select the pallet one. Then, when I switch over to playing killer, if I don't go back in and change the challenge to the 20 gold+ emblems one, then I don't get progress towards it (which is what happened). It's annoying. It's not user friendly.

  • I keep seeing players say that devs should give out something special for those who already own these cosmetics, and while I understand the desire for that, I think it's missing one of the main purposes of doing this. There have been a lot of people losing cosmetics from their inventories. This is going to help deal with that. If devs give out a new exclusive cosmetic, it's going to be something else that devs will have to individually look into each time it goes missing from someone's inventory. Because it will. The game is buggy like that.

I had so much fun with my totem defense wraith build to farm shards/archive fragments:

You basically do nothing but defend your totem all game while cloaked (ruin) sooner or later survivors will find it, you're allowed to chase them off (if the opportunity presents itself down them) but ultimately you have to return to your totem, I threw on noed aswell (which I normally never use) just to spice things up a bit for those pesky survivors at the end =P I dont kill anyone, and dont get many points but I'm having fun and the repsonse from survivors is largely positive too!

I've been doing something similar with Bubba! All I do is protect my Ruin totem all match.

I was originally gonna use Wraith for this, but I don't have Ruin on him. Plus, I like using Bubba because the survivors can't try to body block to protect the totem cleanser.

  • @FriendlyGuy said:

I played huntress with fun perks and no addons yesterday to get a better muscle memory with her hatchets. I got trolled by a 4man teabagging flashlightclicking blendette squad. I understand killers that wanna be able to win every game.

I try to practice Huntress sometimes. When the survivors start doing that, walk away and practice throwing hatchets at trees or some other inanimate object. They hate when you ignore them. I've had survivors DC over that.

Also, I've started equipping Lightborn since Tome level 2 went up. I've had a lot of survivors trying to flashlight me, way more than usual (either because of the challenge or because of the Halloween flashlights), and it's nice to frustrate them without having to do too much. I dunno if they actually tried to blind you or were just clicking away to be annoying. If it's the first one, Lightborn's good, and if it's the latter, muting the game is good.

I dunno about you, but I get satisfaction from ignoring the survivors who try to bully or taunt me. If they get nothing out of it except a boring generator repair sim with no killer interaction and possibly a depip, maybe it'll stop being fun for them.

(Also, I'm still terrible with her hatchets. I have trouble lining it up to hit trees much less a moving target. I wish there were a reticle or something to help with her on console, because damn she can be frustrating.)

More on topic: If survivors want to see a wider variety of killers, they shouldn't scare people off of playing the other killers by treating them like garbage. Just play the game normally without being jerks. That alone would help. Losing isn't the worst thing, but being treated poorly when you're already struggling will stop people from trying again.

  • If they're going to remove collision while phasing, they should fix the audio so I can actually hear survivors. I can never hear a dang thing in this game; I've never been able to track via sound.

And can someone make a video of her just doing her current vault (ie phasing through the window) over and over? I love how it looks, but it's rare to see it from a good vantage in a video. I'd just like to see someone record it from a bunch of different angles before it goes away. I'll miss it.

Most rewards will be exclusively available via The Archives for a period of time and released into the Store at least 6 months after their Rift has ended. More information will be provided at a later date.

Our goal is that everybody has access to the amazing content the team has created. Therefore, nearly all content from each Rift will eventually arrive in the Store. Of course, some seasonal items will wait until it makes sense again, such as our Halloween related content. We want to maintain the level of fairness we have strived for in Dead by Daylight–to create options for obtaining rewards that are respectful of our players.

    Just a few questions:

Where is info on the time savers..? I looked for a few minutes, but couldn't find anything.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/833333#Comment_833333

Is the ~175 hours the time it takes to complete the rift with or without doing challenges? Because if it's without accounting for that I'm afraid the time taken is going to be much lower. I have the feeling people are throwing that around and not thinking about it. I'm at tier 24 and I have put nowhere near the ~62.5 hours I'd be at.

Okay, this is how I did the math.

The devs said that the challenges will award 350 Rift Fragments, which is the same as 35 tiers on the Rift. There are 70 tiers on the Rift, so if you complete all the challenges, that leaves 35 tiers on the Rift to get via XP.

I timed myself earning tiers on the Rift with only XP. Even with the daily bonus, due to queue times it could take anywhere from 4 to 6 hours to earn one tier (10 Rift Fragments). So, I average that to 5 hours. 35 * 5 = 175. Now, you'll be completing the challenges and earning XP at the same time, so if you complete all the challenges within 175 hours, then that's how long it'll take to complete the Rift: 175 hours in 70 days. If you don't complete all the challenges, then it'll take even longer to complete the Rift.

  • @Go_Go_Roboto said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/833113#Comment_833113

Personally, I don't believe that the average person is supposed to complete it. I'm at tier 23(or so?) and play the game a lot... obviously. It's something to reward players who've earned it, not something everyone should get for being around at the right time. That's at least what I think of it. Yes it's a ######### grind tho...

But the devs said the average player should be able to complete it. They said that playing one hour per day would be enough to complete the Rift. This isn't something the players came along and claimed should be the case, it's what the devs claimed to be aiming for.

So it's the fact that the devs said it, and the information they gave is wrong. The math says it'll take more than twice as long to complete. Instead of 70 hours in 70 days, it's more like 175 hours in 70 days.

  • When there are only two survivors left, it's pretty common for the killer to camp one of them if they manage to get a hook. The other one is either coming for you or he's gone immersed to get the hatch, but either way he's probably not on a gen, so patrolling gens would be futile. Searching the entire map would basically guarantee the hooked survivor gets saved, and then the killer's got no one on a hook. Why would he leave?

Slugging is the counter to DS. It's a common tactic. I go plenty of matches where I never get to use DS. You're never guaranteed you're going to get to use any perk.

You disconnected because the match didn't go your way. I don't think players should bother to message each other unless it's just to say "thanks" or "gg," but the killer wasn't wrong. The killer doesn't seem salty in this instance: you do, because you disconnected.

  • If you leave the match wearing an inactive RBT, it should stay on your head until the next time you face Pig and can find that key.

That'd be a great cosmetic. A bit confusing during Pig matches, but otherwise awesome.

Only if they're afk for the whole match.

Some players might utilize an endgame build that will end quickly without being afk.

I prefer to play Totem Protector Bubba. Kinda like protecting the basement chest, except it's my Ruin totem. Slows down the game a pretty good bit in the crap ranks (which is where I'll stay as long as I keep this nonsense up) with minimal effort. Good way to farm XP.
