  • Yeah, her lunge is weird right now. And it feels like hitting a wall when I come out of Haunting.

There is ZERO reason they can't put the items in the store for auric cells. NONE. All other event cosmetics are in the store to be purchased with money.

Not only are they in the store for money, but the Halloween cosmetics from last year were able to be earned during this year's Halloween event.

  • All the maps are darker. The new map and the MacMillan maps are way too dark, now.

  • @Retry said:

I can understand the code-related ones, those make sense. But no compromise on the event skins is needed - players earned those skins by completing the in-game events. If you didn't, I see no reason you should be entitled to them whatsoever. As much as I would love the huntress one, I was not playing the game at that time - so there's zero reason for me to receive it, regardless of if I pay for it or not, as I did not earn it.

That's the point of event skins; giving players something to earn. It's not fair to give those out to those who did not earn them while there are those who worked for them; it's just silly and unfair. They deserve to keep those unique skins that they worked for. They're the same as the legacy skins, even though the difficulty in earning them is not at all comparable. I'm not entitled to a legacy skin because I did not earn it, so I'm not entitled to an event skin I didn't earn, either.

All event skins released since the Hallowed Blight 2018 event have remained obtainable/earnable. The devs are the ones who created the system where all players, new and old, can get event skins either through the event itself or in the store afterward. Players are asking the devs to be consistent rather than playing favorites with event skins. We're not asking event skins be given out for free, just that there's a way to earn them.

Legacy is different because it's more of a reward for beta testing the game. The BBQ and Howling Grounds were events, just like Hallowed Blight and Lunar New Year. Events and their cosmetics should be treated equally across the board.

  • I agree with this.

It was when I began playing that they started putting every event cosmetic in the store. This would be fine if all previous event cosmetics were also put into the store, but they weren't. And there's no way to earn those cosmetics. So not only do new players not get exclusives of their own, but they don't have any way to earn past exclusives. That really sucks. The problem isn't just one or the other, it's the combination of both that makes newer players feel unappreciated. We have to share our new toys with all future players, but the old toys aren't shared with us.

I understand not giving them away for free; the new event cosmetics aren't given away for free, either. Not having a way to earn the old event cosmetics is frustrating, though.

  • Audio is always getting messed up. They don't want Spirit players to be able to find via collision, but they never bother to make sure sounds are balanced enough that you can find survivors that way, either.

It's awful on the new map, regardless of which killer I play: I can hear the survivor intermittently but I can't see them, and the sounds aren't good enough that I can pinpoint their location. Absolutely ridiculous.

  • @Fen said:

    Spirit is still strong.

Btw, did they changed her "new" vault animation or it is the same?

She still looks like a monkey while vaulting, if that's what you mean.

Yep. I gave up today. I just can't anymore. I have lost all faith in BHVR.

I completely understand. I'm really getting close to that point. It's the "but I already put so much time and money into it" thing that's holding me hostage, but that's wearing thin.

Oh yeah. This game is not getting a single cent from me until they show actual care towards the killer playerbase. Reach just came out, so I'll be taking a hefty break.

Yup, I hadn't bought the Stranger Things DLC, yet, and unless things change for the better, I probably never will, because I'm not going to put money into a game that constantly disappoints.

I started playing Dying Light due to the lack of a real DbD Halloween event, and I've continued playing it since. Unlike DbD, I can play Dying Light to relax and have fun... such a weird feeling.

Doc is the most recent killer I’ve finally gotten to P3 50, and well on the way to having almost every perk.

I will be HIGHLY irritated if in a few weeks that has all been a complete waste of BP. I.e. rendering him totally unplayable.

Yeah, I recently P3'd him, too. I wanted to have a build for when I see 4 Blendettes with toolboxes in my lobby. I only wish The Game map offering was more common, but he can spread love on other maps, too, just not as effortlessly.

I'm going to be extremely annoyed if they mess that up.

  • Ditto. I have expressed my lack of hope elsewhere in the forums, as well.

It literally takes away his entire playstyle in favor of a new one..question is...how much are they giving back to him after taking his early and late game tools

Such a good question, especially when BHVR seems better at over-nerfing than actually balancing.

  • The reaction to adding a cooldown to Nurse's power was negative. Cooldowns are not fun. One of the things older killers have going for them is that they don't have cooldowns, so of course let's take that away from them. -_-

One of the nifty things about Doctor is his passive ability. My friend enjoys playing Doctor specifically because of the passive. So, this change will have to be amazing to not just cause severe disappointment.

  • @Mtom912 said:

I played her and barely noticed a difference, except for post phase, I don’t know if it’s just me, it could be my controller, but her post phase is non existence, I know it was changed, but it felt like there wasn’t one at all

It's almost like hitting a wall when coming out of phase, it's weird.

  • I try, but today's update/chapter has left me... feeling less reasonable. Between the frame drops on PS4, the new map (huge, covered in obstacles and foliage, and dark as hell; tracking survivors is damn near impossible on it), Oni's nerfs/clunkiness on console, all the nerfs to Spirit, the changes to DW, and the leaked upcoming changes to Doctor... All of this together? I'm struggling to not be venomous in my posts.

Or maybe I just need more sleep, I dunno.

  • Buttons should cause the effect on the first hit, considering how crap DW is.

A missed attack should not stun Legion and take them out of FF, considering it's a non-lethal ability.

Not only was the time needed to mend reduced, but now as long as the survivor is sprinting the timer doesn't decrease? Really? That's how they fixed this?

They need to rework Legion, already. They're absolutely useless and not fun nor rewarding to play as. They get awesome cosmetics and shafted in every other way possible.

Compensate people when the bug is fixed for the Archive challenges, like give Bloodpoints, Auric cells, Iridescent shards, or Fragments. It's what all other companies do when something messes up.

That's not what BHVR does, though. Such measures have been suggested during previous mess-ups, but the players and the devs disagree on just how inconvenient this game's inconveniences are.

  • @BDS22 said:

I mean they should at least put them in the store to buy since all event cosmetics can be bought now. I mean some people have been unlocking the Halloween cosmetics by grinding hours while others just took a few seconds to get them in the store. It absolutely makes zero sense as to why these items cannot be obtained anymore with how BHVR runs their cosmetic store. If they want to put event cosmetics in the store they all should be in the store, there should be no special exceptions.

    I agree with this.

It was when I began playing that they started putting every event cosmetic in the store. This would be fine if all previous event cosmetics were also put into the store, but they weren't. • I hate this! It is so distracting. The gates light up and everything to show they're powered, the only thing the noise notification does is cause confusion and annoyance.

  • Sometimes the closest hook is the basement, and it's that or have them wiggle free.

I've only hooked one person in the basement so far today, but that was because it was the closest hook. (I also camped them to death because it was EGC and their friend was abusing the speed glitch to hell and back, but that's neither here nor there.) Sometimes you just have to hook someone in the basement.

Also, there are multiple Archive challenges that specifically require hooking in the basement. This bug couldn't have happened at a worse time.

    Solutions?

    1. See a survivor in the lobby, holding a key? Bring a mori, get rid of them ASAP.
    2. Tunnel that survivor (dickish move, but it works).
    3. Dodge the lobby.

Usually, if I lose survivors to a key, it was a key found in a chest. The only thing I could do is tunnel them out, and that's only if I see they have a key.

It does look rather silly, however, I am sure they were rushed and simply found an animation that worked.

Maybe, but that's still not a good reason. Especially since they already had the phasing-through-the-vault animation. All they needed to do was add the ledge-grab part, and I think short killers--including her, now--grab the ledge before vaulting through.

  • @Pulsar said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/888163#Comment_888163

She has the same animation as Freddy when vaulting.

    So it still looks ridiculous?

That is so disappointing. All they had to do was make it so she grabbed the vault ledge before phasing through so she couldn't fake it. I really, really wish they had gone that route.

  • I understand why they changed Prayer Beads. I understand that Yakuyoke Amulet was a strong add-on, but I don't understand why they nerfed it so hard. And I don't understand why they nerfed a dozen of her other add-ons.

I don't like that they took away collision in her basekit. If you can't track via sound, she's completely blind during Haunting. There were only two weeks during the past year+ I've been playing the game where audio was balanced in such a way that I could use sounds to track survivors. Otherwise, I'm always just playing a guessing game when phase walking.

Has anyone seen The Spirit vault, yet? Did they keep that ridiculous version where she crawls through the window like a monkey, or did they fix it so it doesn't look so comically awful?

  • It's not an exploit, it's literally listed in the patch notes:

"Fixed an issue that prevented Killers from lunge attacking on the hay block of the combine harvester in the Coldwind Farm maps."

If giving people a ton of free cosmetics and then finding a better way for the ones that people had to earn makes someone lose faith, I don't really know what to tell them. At that point it would be an awfully selfish thing to do to get upset about not getting those last four.

As far as recolours go, we aren't looking to do that at the moment. Some of them are recolours of existing cosmetics to begin with, so a recolour would just be the default cosmetics that are already available. But in the end, giving everyone a recolour doesn't change the fact that you don't have the original (if you didn't earn it).

But it's unfortunate that there's no way for new players to earn those cosmetics. Every event cosmetic released since I started playing has remained obtainable in the store. The only ones that can't be earned/unlocked in any way are from events from before I started playing. It sucks for new players. The Huntress's Hound mask is so nifty, but there's no way for players to currently or any time in the foreseeable future earn either it or a cosmetic similar to it.

  • @MrsPiggyIsSoSneaky said:

If the developers can't keep things secret and from being leaked like most other developers can, then they shouldn't delete threads like this, it's already public so why try to keep it a secret if it's already known?

Exactly. The new descriptive text is literally in the game right now. That's not the fault of the players.

  • Maybe I'm crazy, but I don't find Legion's power fun to use. Whiffing is just a fact of life on console, so it's not uncommon for me to enter FF and then immediately stun myself out of it, which isn't fun in the least. FF is not a strong enough ability to justify that sort of punishment for a missed attack.

  • It's unfortunate that new players have no way to get those cosmetics. Ever since I started playing during last year's Hallowed Blight, all of the event cosmetics released have stayed obtainable through their store. The only ones that can't be gotten through the store are of course the ones that were given out before I started playing. It sucks.

  • I guess I should've specified "recently." Legion have been having a bad time of it. Nurse's add-ons needed to be reworked, but... well, one of them now turns her into an M1 killer. And did they keep Spirit's new vault animation where she climbs over the window like the other short killers? Because that looks comically bad.

I'll admit, though, I'm probably being unreasonable. Ever since the update it's been frame drops and not being able to track anyone on the new map and Oni's power being clunky as hell. I had so looked forward to playing him, he looked so fun in the PTB, and even though I knew that might not translate perfectly on console, I had hope. Then, on top of the translating-to-console issues, he also got nerfed, enough so that I'm seeing people who loved him in the PTB saying they'd rather just play Billy, now. So, not being thrilled with the new update today, it worries me to see a leak of a future update that describes an unwanted (in my opinion) nerf. My friend is taking the hits to the killers harder than I am, and if it keeps going the way it is he's going to stop playing, so more than frustrated I'm also rather sad about it all. It's a bad combination. I apologize for how I come off.

  • I've been using him as an M1 killer. Got the adept that way. I just use his power at the very end to go back and forth between exit gates.

... that makes me really sad. I had been looking forward to him. His power feels clunky on console, though.

Also, [BAD WORD] the new map. Covered in foliage and dark as hell; even just one of those would make it miserable for killers and difficult to see anything, but both? It's impossible to track anyone. Worse, the map is huge. For [BAD WORD]'s sake, I wanted to like the new map, but I just dread getting it, now.

I think we should wait until we have the full list of changes before making any judgments. It's obvious that this isn't all of the changes. For all we know, there could be some god tier add-ons that weren't leaked.

Their track record with changes has not been good. Freddy is the only killer who came out better after they messed with him.

  • @teegyl said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/886894#Comment_886894

Go read his power in game and look at the scraped tape and Calm addons

[BAD WORD], those changes are awful. They made it sound like they wanted to improve him, not nerf him into uselessness. He's already not that great to begin with. Are they nerfing his Static Field because it's powerful on one map?

  • Most players aren't going to know about the bug. For the devs to ban for it, they would first have to post an announcement, especially considering how many players are running basement builds right now because of the challenges. Also, unlike using certain add-ons and perks being a choice, sometimes the basement hooks are the only nearby hooks.

Edit: The devs would have to post an in-game announcement, not a forum announcement. Just to be clear.

  • Dunno, PS4 doesn't give that info. But I just reached Devotion 8, so maybe that gives a rough idea?

  • Every Oni I've gone against today has gotten crap for points. They are not doing well, and it makes him quite boring to go up against. (PS4)

  • @Broosmeister said:

I know killers prefer an easy 4k instead of learning how to play without dirty, cheap "tactics". And i expected people to try to explain why it should be in the game ( so far i only hear it's because it's simply in the game so that's reason enough ) so yeah, no one convinced me why something stupid like slugging should be in the game. Please can someone just come with a good argument?

What would you replace it with? I mean, that's the real question. It's in the game because there needs to be a health state between being injured and being on the hook. The alternatives are 1. remove hooks and instead survivors immediately die when they're downed, or 2. survivors teleport to a hook instead of being put into the dying state. I mean, I guess a third option is survivors being able to pick themselves up from the dying state without a perk, but that would make it damn near impossible for killers to apply pressure in a lot of situations, and applying pressure is already difficult. Sometimes slugging is the right choice, so if whatever is implemented makes it so that hooking is the wrong choice and slugging is the wrong choice, it would break the game.

  • My killer sensitivity is at 100%.

I think I left survivor at default, I don't remember.

  • I'll suicide on hook because, even thought it was a green ping, the lag is so bad that I pretty much can't play. I shouldn't be banned for that. Suiciding lets the killer at least get their points. Survivors also suicide to give the last player the hatch.

I've also accidentally died on my first or second hook because my finger slipped during the stupid struggle phase.

Anyway, it's an in-game mechanic. Banning for using it would create problems. Especially if you end up banning people with arthritis or other ailments who physically cannot handle struggle phase.

  • @TKTK said:

Spirit nerf wasn't so bad idk why they gave the amulet a down side like that, they could have just taken the speed boost off instead of adding slow down that you have to use the green speed addon to counteract it. I wish they just nerfed prayer beads by making collision not a thing on that and other addons but instead that change went to her base.... oh well

The Nurse i have no opinion on cause i can't play her but i do see her new omega blink addons are really strong still probably better cause she gets more distance. It's a shame about the base cooldown making you wait to double blink.

Legion is losing more perk uses and nerfing there stall over all with mending being even faster and the on hit effects of perks like sloppy butcher won't work on FF stabs so survivors will also heal faster than before. Borrowed time got a little buff as a result from faster base mending.

I think the Yakuyoke Amulet should've stayed the same but gotten rid of the increased recovery speed. I know she's still faster than normal with the speed nerf, but compared to normal it feels like going through molasses.

I like the idea of removing collision to nerf Prayer Beads but leaving it in her basekit. I'm going to miss collision; I don't know if it's my headphones or the crap audio in the game or what, but I can rarely track via sound. Also, I like using collision to surprise survivors in the exit gates, for giving them that love tap on their way out. Otherwise, they like to run out before I even reach them and then I get no Brutality points. Like, why do that? Why do they wait in the exit gate area but leave before I get a hit in? Makes no sense, just a waste of everyone's time.

Really weird, when I play at ranks red I can end chases quite quickly with well timed blinks and reads despite the survivors best effort at looping and evading... I play on console as well... hmmmm... ahh that doesn't matter she must suck cuz when i play her I dont succeed! That surely can't mean i'm just bad at this new version of nurse and need to practice her more to get good... naaaaah

I specifically said it doesn't matter how well I do or don't do; it doesn't feel rewarding. The new mechanics just aren't fun to deal with. And it's not fun to play against her because most players aren't good with her, so it's a boring match. Before the change, even inexperienced Nurses still managed to interact somewhat with survivors, but now they might as well not even be on the map.

I'm starting to think this guy is baiting people..we may just want to drop it..

You're probably right. Different people have different ideas of what's fun, so it's not like you can sway their opinion on it, anyway.

  • I don't care how well Nurse can perform, she was already a struggle to have fun with on console, and now she's not fun at all. It's no longer an entertaining challenge; playing as her is frustrating and unrewarding. Kills aren't the only thing that matter. I can have fun without killing anyone, and I can have miserable games where I 4k.

Her add-ons needed changing; her base kit didn't. And now, the few times I've gone up against Nurse as a survivor, I get almost no Boldness points in a chase because she quickly falls so damn far behind. Yeah, great killer.

  • You have to do it after the gate is open, because it's during the EGC, which doesn't start until the gate is open or the hatch is closed. I used Bloodwarden to make it easier and killed three survivors during the EGC. I got lucky and NOED was on the other side of the map, but even if it weren't I don't think it needs to be active, just equipped, to complete the challenge.

  • For what it's worth, I agree that bannable body blocking should have its own term to differentiate it from non-bannable body blocking. It makes sense. There are already terms people use that others might not instantly understand, like kobe-ing or playing immersed. Kobe-ing means escaping the hook, and it's usually considered to mean the 4% rather than Deliverance, so it's a specific type of self-unhooking. Or immersion being a style of stealth play that usually means the survivor spends all their time hiding rather than being useful.

It's helpful to have easy terms to use to refer to something rather than having to explain it every time it's mentioned because the term is so vague, like body blocking. Any time body blocking is brought up, the player has to define what kind of body blocking they're talking about, and if they don't then people get confused. Sure, if we use a new term for bannable body blocking, like "intentional soft locking," then a player will probably need to read further to understand what it specifically means. But unlike always needing to explain what type of body blocking is being referred to, "intentional soft locking" will always mean the same thing. If players talk about "intentional soft locking," they're talking about a type of body blocking that is a bannable offense, but if players talk about "body blocking," they're talking about a legal in-game mechanic. Simple.

  • Yeah, the cooldown is a load of crap. It's unnecessarily punishing and it just makes the Nurse less fun to play as. I used to challenge myself by playing as her on console; I haven't done that since the cooldown was added, because it's not rewarding enough to bother dealing with.

  • I look forward to the rules being rewritten, because right now they are dangerously vague and I'm sure it results in a lot of useless reports and cases of people refusing to believe clarifications (even when it's from the devs themselves) because "that's what it says in-game."

"Body blocking," "helping the killer," "holding the game hostage," and "targeting" seem to get misinterpreted constantly.

    Body blocking = Soft locking.

Helping the killer = Helping the killer to killer other survivors. Not friendly farming.

Holding the game hostage = Being forced to disconnect. Includes cases where multiple survivors hide on the map instead of working on gens for an extended period of time. Does not mean hanging out in the exit gate or slugging.

Targeting = Does not mean being tunneled or camped in a match or even a couple matches. It means being aggressively targeted in like 8+ matches.

Most likely people won't be banned if they're reported for something that's not actually bannable, because the devs actually look into the reports, but all the salty posts about things that aren't actually against the rules, the angry messages after a match, and new players being scared about playing a certain way because of a vague list of reportable offenses could be easily cut down on with in-game clarification.

  • That would be funny.

Licensing probably wouldn't allow it, like you said. Maybe they could do Legion masks, instead.

  • Survivors get BP for struggling on the hook. If I'm a killer who can farm Deviousness points by myself, I appreciate when survivors do that so I can also get a few more BP.

  • My request is that BT be distanced based but in exchange MYC is now TR based, instead. More survivors use BT than killers use MYC, anyway.

Killers slug for the 4k because the 4k is so valuable and literally makes a huge difference between whether they may pip or do not pip at all (or even in some cases, de-pip). There have literally been matches where I've given the last survivor the hatch and still got Entity displeased despite killing 4 of them -- because y'know, apparently trapper and other one-shot down killers earn no chaser points for using their power effectively.

I wish it was more like Identity V, where a 3k or a 4k to the killer means very, very little.

Just change the "No One Escaped" scoring event to "Victory" and make it require only 3 kills instead of 4 kills to get it. Give bonus emblem points for earning said scoring event and boom, nobody will care to slug for the 4k as much because it will no longer be such a requirement for pipping or give a chunk of bonus blood points.

This would be nice. The devs say the hatch isn't there to punish killers but to prevent killers being held hostage by immersed survivors. However, the killer's scoring is hurt by the hatch. The hatch is RNG and about the only thing the killer can do to definitely counter it is slug for the 4k, and even that isn't a guarantee. And if the killer gets a 3k and closes the hatch, there's still the issue of exit gate RNG and keys.

A 3k should be rewarded as a victory. Killers shouldn't be punished if multiple survivors escape through the hatch with a key. Survivors shouldn't be punished if they die early to a mori. These adjustments in scoring would go a long way to improve player experience.

  • Pennywise.

His character design in the remake is awful. Also, I'd be disappointed to find out Pennywise is willing to share his meals.
