How long is "a long while now"? Unless it was less than a year, people who's job it is to do more research than me are also getting it wrong.
https://checkpointxp.com/2019/11/27/mathieu-cote-game-director-of-dead-by-daylight/
Of course, it doesn't help that BHVR seems to gotten rid of the staff list from their website and other sites don't seem to have been updated yet.
The earliest documented use of the term producer in games was by Trip Hawkins, who established the position when he founded Electronic Arts in 1982. Hawkins said in 1983:A video game producer is the person in charge of overseeing development of a video game.
RESPONSIBILITIES
An internal producer is heavily involved in the development of, usually, a single game. Responsibilities for this position vary from company to company, but in general, the person in this position has the following duties:
- Negotiating contracts, including licensing deals
- Acting as a liaison between the development staff and the upper stakeholders (publisher or executive staff)
- Developing and maintaining schedules and budgets
- Overseeing creative (art and design) and technical development (game programming) of the game
- Ensuring timely delivery of deliverables (such as milestones)
- Scheduling timely quality assurance (testing)
- Arranging for beta testing and focus groups, if applicable
- Arranging for localization
- Pitching game ideas to publisher
In which part does it says that a video game producer/director is directly in charge of balance?

As survivor: Very possible, I mean, i dont have a main in the first place, but currently im choosing between Cheryl and Ash
As killer: Most possibly never, Demo is a good boy and it thrills me every time I play him.

demogorgon all the way, as soon as I hear the imponent screech I get excited

Risk and reward baby. If you want to play it safe bring perks that cant be disabled.

What is PTVC?

But there was a lot of people that wanted ruin and insta heals gone.

OR, there are people who want to see this game succeed because they love it but they have massive issues with it. Get outta here with wanting people to leave instead of actually trying to better the game.
I care more about the mental health of people than their enjoyment of the game. If you are not enjoying it and are playing just because you spent a ######### ton of money on it you should stop playing.

OMG, I've been saying this forever. The cosmetics are overpriced. People saying that it's "optional" to buy these cosmetics and "I can spend my money how I want" are part of the problem. They fuel these greedy game developers to keep releasing monetized content; so one player buying these skins has an impact on other players that don't want to. Will the price in DLCs go up? They added a battle pass, what else will they add?
Once they realize that people aren't buying their skins, maybe then they'll lower the price and start putting some effort into fixing the ACTUAL GAME, NOT MAKING MORE SKINS.
For gods sake it has been said a ton of time, the art team and the game design team are completely separate.
-
Or maybe. simply. stop playing this game completely? that is an easier solution than crying everywhere. Stop falling victim to the sunk cost fallacy.

@DwightOP said:
Oh don't trip, they listen... ONLY when people say "good job devs I like what you did" then they listen and say "thanks, alright we keep it this way".
But critical feedback and asking for changes will get ignored as if they never existed, no matter how reasonable and logical the argumentation is. They don't even discuss it on streams most of the time.
People who say "wait for PTB" are either new, blinded hardcore dbd fanboys or people you could fool more than twice with the same trick.
The problem is that people like you will go on the PTB, play one or two games with the mentality that billy sucks, and then go on the PTB balance feedback to say that billy sucks, which is not helpful feedback in any sort of way.
-
In the dev update it said that if the chainsaw reaches full overheat while you are sprinting, you wont be stopped.
-
I don't know why people keep saying billy is the most balanced killer in the game. At least from my experience when I played him for his adept a few weeks ago I found him to be extremely braindead, just rev your chainsaw around the whole map and if you find a survivor in a bad position hit him with it. If not try some cheeky stuff at a loop. I had a hard time getting it because most of the time it ended in brutal killer due to how fast my games were, I had to resort to being an M1 killer with mobility to get it.

Is it that time of the year again where the forum becomes a massive killer circlejerk?

Not gonna lie I don't see a point to giving you feedback for the PTB I mean are you just going to ignore us like with Nurse's rework? I can't even believe you guys are defending that rework and still think it was fine in your eyes even through her play rate might even be less than hag's play rate at this point, you guys have a habit of making "minimal" changes become changes that negatively effects that killer so much so that they instantly, become unfun messes to play.
Can't way to see how the "minimal" changes effect hillbilly!
I don't recall many people giving actual useful feedback during the Nurse nerf, it was just "remove the cooldown!" which to be honest was not very helpful, all the bug complaints started to arise a few weeks, if not months after the nerf.

Spirit was nerfed after the PTB.
Plague was nerfed after the PTB.
Nurse wasn't changed, they just left her to rot.
Those are the only 3 I can recall at the moment, I'm sure they've messed with more.
what do you mean spirit was nerfed after the PTB? If I recall correctly after the PTB they made it so that you could not hear the wooshing in her terror radius, which was a massive buff and made spirit the beast she is today.

@BigBrainMegMain said:
They won't fix anything during the PTB.
The devs have shown us time and time again they're content with the changes they do on paper.
The PTB only shows us what their plan is and almost never changes, if it does, it's for the worse.
Nurse, Ruin, Legion, and now Billy. I'm not a Billy main, I just picked him up 2 weeks ago, but I feel bad for the avid Billy mains out there. =/
The PTB is mostly for bug fixes, and sometimes to fix some really noticeable balance stuff. Like Oni losing all his power gauge when picking up a survivor making him completely reliant on slugging (changed to the gauge pausing after picking up a survivor) or docs shock having a massive 3 second delay (reduced to 1.5 after the PTB)

If there is an OoO its almost guaranteed its an SWF and you must buckle up for an almost impossible game.

How about a Survivor stamina bar?
It can be a cute little red box around their portrait that drains as they sprint and recovers after they aren't sprinting for a few seconds.
Crouching can consume a token when used with a max of 2 or 3 tokens that come back after a few seconds.
Uh, this is a bad idea because survivors already move slower than killers, adding an stamina bar on top of things like bloodlust would make tunneling too effective.

Dude, the devs are about release the most devastating nerf to flashlights in the form of a perk that literally disables your ability to get blinded.

I'm a killer main and I have bad anxiety, playing this game is very stressful and my doctor tells me to avoid it but I like this kind of mouse and cat game except the mouse always beats the sh*t out of the cat...
I am currently Rank 10, I can never make it past that because all I get match with in this Rank is Red rank try-hards who won't stop bashing my brain with pallets then flashlight and teabagging.
So I'm just going to join matches and go AFK, since I still get points for just being there and I'm just trying to level up, having a good time in this game is impossible for average skilled killers.
But before I do that I wanna know if I will get banned if I don't play after being put in a match too many times.
I don't care if I get put back to Rank 20, at least I will have less chance of being put with Red Ranks.
This is bad for your health. Seek help.

I keep seeing people complaining about the upcoming changes and a lot of "just wait for the ptb, devs will listen if we don't like it"
hum.... when did that ever happen?
- Ghostface buff
- Oni changes after the PTB to make his slug not as necessary
- Doctor cooldown after shock getting reduced from 3 seconds to 1.5 seconds
- Most recently forced penance getting buffed to 60 seconds and the oblivious status effect duration of deathbound increased to 60 seconds
Etc.
Now, go cry all you want about ruin, but it was a completely necessary change and the devs did good on not listening to the massive amount of whiners on the forums and reddit.

According to the last available dev stats. Does that seem balanced to anyone? Red ranks that are supposedly all coordinated SWF btw. 15 threads a day calling to nerf DS that gives 60 seconds that a survivor can take a third hit but the ability to one hit down with speed Billy all match is "perfectly balanced". This is a relatively minor nerf that has long been needed.
Remember kids, those stats are only useful when they help me achieve my agenda.

The Oni power is active for a minute. This one looks like 10 seconds.
@Todgeweiht you don't see the regression in this video, I guess it starts after you finish the chainsaw cooldown animation after the hit.
Oh, I get it now

This brings us to the end of the July 2020 Developer Update. All of the changes and new features mentioned above will be available for testing in the Player Test Build, opening Tuesday, July 7th. We look forward to hearing what you think once you’ve had a chance to try them out!
Thanks again :D

I meant more in terms of the addons
they are a joke
Well, we have only seen 3 so far, and the only one that looks bad is the green one, the other two look fine
- Depth gauge rake looks like it could come in clutch in some situations, being able to extend the duration of your chainsaw sprint seems great, even if it comes at the price of less speed.
- Iridescent flesh may be a bit weak for an ultra rare, but it could help bubba snowball in some scenarios where survivors are grouped together.
-
:O are we getting a mad max killer?
-
@Thatbrownmonster said:
Bhvr have proven time and time that all our doubts before the ptb are usually true
nurse nerf? they killed her
and this hillbilly and bubba nerf is here since survivors have been complaining about them
Lmao bubba is far from a nerf, well, unless you are one of those guys that loves camping everyone with no reason at all.
-
No. Now, let me make my 100th post about how much the devs hate me and the side I play most.

It also showed the cooldown is extremely slow and hitting a survivor has massive recovery cd lol..dont be fooled
Its literally the same cooldown as before.

Hag and Freddy
Hag because she is an absolute pain in the ass, like trapper but you have to be even more strategic with her.
Freddy because he is just outright boring.

@not_Queen With the upcoming updates to billy and bubba, does that also mean that they both are gonna have their own chase music? 😍

It regresses when it's not in use, so it will just go down naturally while you are doing just about anything else.
I just hope it regresses at a considerable rate.
-
@TAG said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1407698#Comment_1407698
the overheat does not regress
The dev update says otherwise:
This heat will dissipate over time whenever the chainsaw is not being used.
Uh? If it regresses it does at the same rate Onis power repletes, it just looks so slow.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HJK95Srk5WI -
The new overheat mechanic scares me. I mean, billy is currently relatively easy to play compared to the other harder killers, but damn, thats too much man, the overheat does not regress which means you will have to eat all the cooldown whether you overuse your chainsaw or not. And the new ultrare add-on looks like thorn bookmark 2.0. I don't like it.
On the other end, the new bubba changes look neat, I was expecting a freddy style rework but this is also great.
Oh, and the new perk changes are really neat! Lightborn is just god tier now against flashlights.
-
I fully get it with the silent hill cosmetics, but why is it the same with original ones? It makes absolutely no sense.
-
I don't know, maybe because FNAF had a resurgence during the pandemic.
-
Because its fun and I dont have to wait 8 minutes to get killed on first hook because my potato teammates wont rescue me.

Old nurse had an addon that gave the Nurse an extra blink with no additional effects.
The current extra blink addon is a straight downgrade from that in every way.
Yeah I remember them, I feel that they should make it so that the torn bookmark does not apply that annoying penalty.

I used to have 170+ on Pyramid Head (at one time, not altogether if you take into account using them as I got more). At the end of last night, I think the number of cakes on him was down to like 80.
Holy crap you guys need to chill, I only got 20 on demo ;_;
-
I mean, I would have been mad if they had released a hotfix just to fix the cakes, that would have been dumb.
-
Yeah I agree. His cages are currently too punishing for him, a complete waste of map pressure that only comes in clutch in some rather situational scenarios as it stands right now. Making so that only the uncaged survivor loses torment would make his cages somewhat more appealing to use.
-
I am playing Pyramid Head to get his P3 cosmetic and my god, I feel bad for some of the more competent survivors.
I mean, I went against a Tapp recently that knew how to loop fairly good and was repairing gens but his teammates were all massive potatoes, one of them even unhooked him in front of me while I was charging my ranged attack while he was tormented and I had no other choice but to send him to a cage to make good use out of them. And then he died in the cage because no one rescued him.
