I like to escape. Making sure teammates get out too, but we would all rather escape than die.

She probably already had the crown. Or didn't care. And I've refused to take the hatch before if the killer did something I didn't care for in the match. Sometimes its the principle, event or not.

Killers have it way easier to get cakes. I went 5 level 50 bloodwebs in a row with no cakes. Yes I got flashlights and med kits but who cares about those, they are exactly the same as last year. Give survivors more cakes!

Choosing not to do the grind doesn't mean there is less of a grind. I generally dislike Scott and find the streamer worship around here to be ridiculous, but in this instance he is right.

I played about 20 survivor matches yesterday and didn't see a single key. Not one. In fact I rarely see keys at all. This killer main hysteria of KEYS KEYS KEYS is way overblown.

Killers have plenty of perks that allow them to down survivors in one hit. Survivors can have one perk that makes it take three hits. DS is fine, get over it.

It's not normal. The UI is much smaller. If you had just switched from Xbox1 to series X or from PS4 to PS5 you would know what we are talking about.

Well I play on a 4k monitor on xb1x and everything including the depth of view was perfect all up until around 4.0 when the executioner released along with the new scaling for 4k.. so I had to switch down to 1080p then enough people complained about the depth of view being too close so the devs reverted the depth of view but only on 1440p. And now here we are with the series x and the dov is too close on 1080p and 1440p. I’m telling you the screen is down lower too. I used to be able to see the top of killers heads on the hay stack loops on cold wind and now I can barely see them...
In my original post I mention the issue they had previously but it was fixed fairly quickly so I never switched down to 1080 on the 1X. I have only had my settings at 4k so I can't comment about field of view at 1080 or 1440 with the series X. With 4k setting on the only difference is the smaller UI. Any other series X players having a depth of view problem on 4k settings?

You might be on the series s because the depth of view has changed on the series x 100%
Definitely on the series X. Upgraded from the X1X which already had a graphics enhancement. Did you upgrade from an og Xbox 1? Perhaps it seems more zoomed in because of the smaller icons/UI? Did you change TVs? Depth of view exactly the same for me, just a shrunken UI. Been playing since launch day on Xbox and I have never seen a change in the depth of view. From watching a number of gameplay videos on youtube it looks like the smaller UI is a problem on Xbox series X and PS5. Series S still looks the same.

@MikeyBoi said:
The overall killer/survivor and in game needs to be shrunk/ further away from the screen and the perks/icons etc need to be bigger. It’s almost like there needs to be an equal/median interface adjustment to fit the screen properly on 1080p/1440p.
The depth of view hasn't changed, only the sizing of the UI. Icons, menus, bloodwebs, etc are all much smaller. The camera distance has remained the same. Does anyone know when a fix is coming for this?

Bloodweb, character select, in game with game icons and progress bar.

NO. Just no, console industries are hard scammers, so, they don't like to have hardware compatible between their consoles, they prefer u buy 2 different controllers for each console, just, money, more money ;)
All Xbox One peripheral devices; controllers, headsets, etc, work with the new Series X/S consoles. Sorry PS5 gamers you have to buy all new, but at least you can play DBD right now.

Hooray! Killer mains cried loud enough to reverse the nerf. So I guess he will just keep overperforming. Way to hold the line devs, you took weeks of abuse for a change that was long overdue only to scale it back to nothing in the end.

all they did was shortening it a bit, the overall message that was delivered was the exact same in both sentences.
Not wording it 1:1 means its not a quote. It leaves out the phrase 'for the most part' which changes the meaning of the rest of the sentence.

check it out for yourself then.
its literally the first sentence they provided us with when it came to the Hillbilly changes.
Look up the difference between quote and paraphrase. What they said was a quote was not actually what was said.

@supersonic853 said:
"Keeping with the theme of everything chainsaws, The Hillbilly is also receiving some changes in this update. For the most part, we are happy with the way The Hillbilly performs. His power is very versatile, allowing him to quickly traverse the map, zone out Survivors and instantly down them. From a Survivor’s perspective, there is also a reasonable amount of counterplay, leading to interesting chases where the best player often comes out on top"
Big surprise it was a lie.
Now you have posted a quote. See how the third sentence starts with the phrase 'For the most part'. That phrase modifies everything that comes after it. Which means that there are some things they were not happy with, thus the nerf. See how that works. Reading comprehension.

You cannot argue with data. After ruin nerf, data available showed the following:
At RED RANKS:
- 92% of all games get 5 gen'd (holy [BAD WORD])
- Killers average 1.7 kills.
- Not even the best killers, spirit/nurse, average 2 kills.
- Weaker killers (wraith, gunslinger) average 1.2-1.3 kills per game
That is not even filtering out red rank SWF's.
Where is the source for those stats?

How do we even know there is a new system, if nothing has really changed from the player perspective?
There needs to be some kind of actual indicator.

I play on Xbox and I think the matchmaking has been really good lately. I play solo red rank survivor mostly and have experienced few issues. Que times are always around a minute or two. Just mentioning this to counter dome of the complaints. Also its funny that the devs tell everyone they are putting in a new system where ranks don't matter and the big complaint in the original post is about rank disparities. Lol

No, because I am uneducated. I don't work in-game development, so I was unaware how wrong I was. But YOU knew better. You not only made me realize how stupid I was being, but that I'm irreconcilably a fool.
Why'd you do that to me? To make me see how stupid I was? Well I see it now. I'll never be able to not see it. Everytime I smell an article of my clothing, I'll be reminded of how I displayed my stupidity in the sun, the musky stench of unwashed ignorance baked and emanating from my faded lucky casino shirt, steeped in my fleshy yet floral aroma of marijuana, mad dog 2020, and BK.
So I apologise, not that it will mean much at this point. Because I've wasted good life being an idiot, and I've wasted yours arguing my own ineptitude.

Lol nice theory crafting dude, those stats were based on the nurse PRE-nerf. But you're the one living and dieing by stats, I'm just telling you that isn't a reliable marker in this game because kill rates can be influenced by certain things such as someone suiciding in the hook, survivors who are red rank that don't belong there (i.e. carried by SWF) but please continue to tell me about this game, it's quite obvious you haven't been playing for that long so you can only justify your opinion on inconclusive stats
(By the way, the devs themselves said their posted stats should be taken with a grain of salt and shouldn't be used to come to conclusions, but you know better than them I suppose)
Theory crafting? Lol. Sorry but you are wrong. The stats are post Nurse changes. I'll post the link again below. Scroll to the bottom of the page to see you are mistaken. Devs have said they use srats to see where things may be overperformjng or underperforming. Been playing the game since the early months of year one, not that it would invalidate my opinions but it is apparently important to you. Should I assume you aren't well educated because you don't understand the importance of statistics in game development? Just saying don't make assumptions.

Oh, so you fancy yourself some kind of video game scientist, huh? Bad argument on the stats btw. Don't ever bother arguing that when there are stats the dev posted that show Nurse as getting the least kills of all killers, having received a nerf afterwords.
Stats can be made to say anything, they aren't the end all be all.
Video games are science. Nurse changes were in October and the stats came out in November. Her overall kill rates were low which I would assume correlates to her recent changes. Red rank nurses still had around a 65% kill rate. I would love to see some more updated stats. Until then you can fancy yourself as a DBD truther.

Which is exactly why I asked if not the forums then what else? If you took the combined fanbases of just people like Otzdarva, truetalent, and maybe 1 other popular killer based content creator of your choosing you'd have half the killers playerbase on PC without a doubt. While the majority won't participate in open discussion on forums they will still actively follow the people they like, and it's also extremely likely that they'll share similar opinions.
I'd say the content creators can be considered representatives of their respective communities. So the question is: If forums aren't good enough, and neither are the streamers and youtubers who represent the players, then what exactly IS good enough? that's my problem.
Killer main content creators make a living getting 4ks every match. Any changes that will impact their ability to do so are seen as an attack on their livelihood. Looking to them for objective opinions on this subject is ill advised.

Nobody should have to feel thankful for anything.
Common company tactic: Take two steps forward and then one step back to appease the community and seem like they are listening.
The overheat mechanic is crap. You can polish crap to make it shiny, but it's still crap. It intentionally restricts and limits skill on the character for no reason other than to make survivors have an easier time with him because apparently not standing out in the god damn open was too hard for some people, even though good survivors could still run good Billy's around for minutes on end before this mechanic.
If I take four things from you, and give you back one, you should be thankful to me. Praise me, worship me that I listened to your complaints. Forget about the fact I still took three of your things. Don't be an ungrateful cur.
That's what the vast majority of this community is sounding like right now and honestly I'm surprised how many in this community are gullible sheep and expect or even demand others to join them in their little flock.
In the end, I'm not going to be "grateful" that they made a bad change slightly less bad since the change still completely gimps how the character performs and the leash that they put on how he can express skill has only been slackened very slightly. How about instead of making a bad change, we start from the beginning and brainstorm a change that is good, doesn't put a choke hold on his skill expression while still tweaking the character down a notch? Wouldn't that be nice.
Your whole argument is based on your belief that the nerf was not justified. The statistics show it was. Unlimited use of his power was out of line with what the devs have done with every other Killer power since. His kill rate was too high. So they nerfed him. And you should be thankful. If they should have taken 4 and instead only take 3 that is a benefit. All a matter of perspective.

Midwhich, haddonfield, BNPS, Mori's, keys, etc.
Just because the devs say something doesnt mean its good.
P.S. how does boot taste?
The devs use stats to determine whats too strong or too weak in the game. I'm a science guy. Has a lot more meaning than the feelings of a handful if people that fancy themselves as influencers.
PS: No boot licking, just logic and science.

Man context doesn't exist huh?
When they say this, as they have with a lot of killers the unsatisfied side is more often the not the side that uses add ons.
Base hillbilly was fine.
Peanits said it, Ussylis said it, Otz said it
I find it hard to find anyone who dislikes base hillbilly and seems to actually want these changes.
Yet, people still defend robbing a killer of the one thing he has for up to a minute for using it efficiently, and completely gutting anyone who isn't a great hillbilly by using it to try and practice, or inefficiently.
Right, about as fair as DS-Unbreakable.
Well if a couple of killer main streamers thought Billy was balanced it must gave been true. Bottom line guess who knew base kit Billy wasn't balanced. The devs. Be thankful they backed off as much as they did.

@darwinsbrain Have you tried using both? Takes FOREVER to get to Tier 3 unless they just stand there.
And? So a survivor should take a 1 hit kill? Jumping in a locker is about the only chance a survivor has to counter it.

NOED is completely counterable, and is high risk high reward. Second chance perks, the only way to counter them, well, is to wait or slug or don't hit the same person twice, and if they use this aggressively, like in his match where he was body blocked by the bt unhooked surv and then DS'd, near the exit gate, well if he left him on ground, he would just crawl out the exit gate, the second guy probably already left. There was no counter to what happened. Thats the problem. Second chance perks "counters" punish the killer, and playing into them punishes the killer, and thats the problem when they're used aggressively. No counter except for "get f'd" is poor design. Not a single killer perk that gives as much of an advantage as taking away a hook like second chnces do is in the game, and the ones that are in the game are completely counterable by totems or adaptive playstyle, like devoir hope or noed or ruin or pop, they are all counterable.
Your suggestion that killers don't have anything comparable to give them an advantage is just plain wrong. Insta downs take away a hit just like 2nd chance perks give them.

Even though if you shut the hatch and are on them they are dead either way so jumping into a lockers just doing it on purpose and makes you look like a ######### for lack of a better term.
If a tombstone Myers is chasing me I will jump in a locker every time. If I don't I'm dead. And why would I give the killer the satisfaction of killing me that way? I's a pretty cheap kill. A survivor can basically get hit one time in the match and be dead. Tell me how that is fair in any way and why a survivor shouldn't do every thing they can to stop that from happening.
-
@BloodMoneyMerc said:
I finally decided to try for this achievement, & boy does no one want me to have it. I had a match where I was pretty close to getting it. One of the survivors decided to hop in a locker, so I stood in front of it for a second seeing if they would get out for me. But no they just decide to DC while in there so I couldn't get it whatsoever that match. Another match got down to the Endgame Collapse & the last person decided to hide elsewhere in the map & wait out the timer. At least DCs shouldn't negate achieving this because it's super unfair how someone else can deny my achievement so easily & cheaply. It's already hard enough to achieve with gen rush being a thing, now it's practically impossible since survivors decide to be toxic & deny your achievement by leaving the match.
TLDR: Why won't survivors let me kill them the way I want to?
-
@FootMan2893 said:
I try to be nice by leaving the hooked guy and give the other dude a chance to get a save. I then proceed to get body blocked to death because haddonfield is such a great map, and when I get bodyblocked and forced to down the BT'd unhooked guy I get DS'd in the exit gate which was right next to the damn hook. Lose 2 kills because of second chance perks once again saving a team that I rightfully smashed in game. Guess I was tunneling?
I'm just gonna continue making these posts. Probably won't matter, but I'll continue doing it. That way people can see how often I personally come across these seemingly RARE games where the perks screw over a game, which supposedly only happen once every 1000 years. But don't worry. They're only anti tunneling perks, and if I get DS'd that means I was tunneling.
Actually the loss is all on you. Even though they had the second chance perks you had them dead to rights. Then you decided to be nice and it cost you the Kills. Don't blame the 2nd chance perks, they would have done those survivors no good if not for your mistake, according to your story.

Except that's just plain wrong, two things about that in fact, first thing you see for is the stastics of kill rates after ruin and doc changes, not the most up-to-date thing but I doubt there was such an extreme change. Billy has a 27% 4k rate, not the 75% you claimed earlier, and the devs wouldn't have said they're satisfied with how he is right now if he had such a high kill rate. Another thing, Billy of all people wouldn't suddenly become broken due to map changes, he was the map pressure king, it doesn't matter the size of the map but rather the shape that affects billy and with the change of ruin, it hurts billy more than helps so that doesn't matter either.
Smaller maps make them faster to traverse. They also spaced out looping tiles like jungle gyms even more creating more dead zones. Easier for Billy to travel. And I'll take some new stats but there is no reason to think his kill rate would have changed much from the 75% it last showed. Also the devs didn't say they were satisfied with how he played. They said for the most part. Meaning they weren't satisfied with some aspects. Namely his ability to chainsaw non stop all game with no down side. Thus the cool down.
-
@LazyPayday said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1439449#Comment_1439449
It is perfectly balanced, just because the majority of the killers are weak, doesn't mean a strong one is overpowered, it just means the weak ones need to be buffed. The chainsaw had plenty of counterplay, you weren't able to do that then you just need to get better at doing so, I'm far from what you could call a survivor main and even I had no problem looping your average Billy, and if a person mains Billy to the point where he's so good he demolishes me then I'm satisfied, any person should deserve to be able to do that if they spend enough time doing it.
If you're not gonna bother to read then leave, this is a discussion, not a complaint, I gave my stance with my beliefs as to why they're correct and asked for people's own opinions on the matter. I don't care about survivors who are so bad at the game that they complain about any killer as long as that killer beats them.
Devs use stats to determine what is too strong in the game. Billy has a better than 75% kill rate at red ranks. Thats too strong so they add a cool down so he can't use his power non stop. Just like every other killer. What may have seemed a somewhat balanced in the past no longer is after Ruin was changed and maps were shrunk down. Time for change.
-
@LazyPayday said:
I know this topic has been done to death but I don't want the devs to think it was just an outcry at first, Billy still has been done extremely dirty. It's likely the devs are still being made fun of for saying that they'll only be making "minimal" changes to Billy's base kit, before nerfing him into the ground.
As a personal Billy main of 3 years, I can say for sure that I'm completely fine with them getting rid of crack-head billy, insta-saw billy, and drift-king billy, the add-ons just buffed him too much, but touching his base kit is incredibly dumb, even compared to the dev's past decisions. Any killer main or survivor main with half a brain could tell you that Billy's base kit was perfectly balanced, to the point where it should be the golden standard in a perfect dbd world, but his add-ons where the problem.
So the problem being, why nerf him? If everyone was only complaining about his add-ons and you were happy with how he was right now then why add the overheat mechanic? There was the talk of punishing players for not using his chainsaw efficiently but any Billy main will rev their chainsaw for quite some time to get the perfect curve, they're being the most efficient yet the overheat mechanic punishes them for it.
The one last thread of hope was that it's possible for an idea in the PTB to be completely scrapped, it's been done before so why can't it happen now. Some Billy's new add-ons are complete jokes but if they just tossed the overheat mechanic, I wouldn't complain about them.
However it's incredibly likely that some of you disagree, so that's why I wanna ask form all perspectives, fellow killer mains, fellow billy mains, survivor mains, and the dumbasses who think Billy was overpowered, do you think the devs should completely scrap the overheat mechanic or instead edit so that it doesn't actually drop him a tier and keep his performance where it usually was?
TLDR: Come on just let us keep using the insta down chainsaw all game. It's perfectly balanced, I swear. Please?

what scot said is the same everyone is been saying for a long time.
Its what killer mains gave been complaining about. There is an easy way to get past this combo, just eat the DS. If you want to go after that same survivor within 60 seconds you may have to eat the DS and hit the survivor ONE extra time. Its not going to lose you the game. I would like to see Scott's kill percentage and then we would know how bad this combo truly is. I'm guessing he is probably still killing 75% or more of the survivors he faces even with this 'game losing' combo. DS and Unbreakable exist to stop killer's from playing the game a certain toxic way. They are there to discourage that type of game play. See how long the survivor base holds up if games all became tunneling slug fests.

I really am willing to listen.
You want a killers opinion on 2nd chance perks? Did you miss the other 50 threads on the subject this week? This forum has a heavy killer bias so they complain about such things non stop. Next start a thread asking for killer opinions on SWFs. Then ask what they think about keys.

Killer players on this thread writing essays to defend their easy mode insta-downs. I'm laughing.
I know right. So many lengthy posts explaining the skills it takes to get insta downs. Like Myers and Ghost Face have to look at survivors for a few seconds, Billy and Leatherface takes aim (and if you miss just immediately charge it up again) and Oni has to hit a survivor first. Come on. Insta downs are not that hard to get and happen all the time.
2nd chance perks do have drawbacks. I can't ever use DS if I'm not downed right after getting unhooked. BT doesn't work if the killer isn't hanging around the hook or going after the person just unhooked. Unbreakable does no good if the killer picks me up right away. Plenty of games these are all wasted perk slots. A good killer knows these perks exist and can turn them all into wasted slots. Killers have the control. 2nd chance perks punish killers for getting too greedy and serve as a counterbalance to the killers power.

Very few insta-downs have just those weaknesses.
Tier 3 Myers, takes a long time to get to.
Oni, takes a long time to get to and relies on Survivors being injured.
Trapper, takes really good planning.
Billy, requires good aim.
Leatherface, can lose the chase if he messes up the chainsaw, and he has nothing else to help him.
Iri-Huntress, bullshit but still requires aim.
Iri-Clown, requires really good aim, and the hit with the bottle doesn't even result in the down.
Iri-Deathslinger, nearly impossible to hit a survivor 15M away, and even harder to get them to you from that far away.
NOED, only works if a totem is up and all gens are powered.
Make Your Choice, forces you to be away from the hook, meaning the unhooker has a head start against you. Also forces you to not pressure gens to get the insta-down.
Haunted Grounds, only works once per match, for 60 seconds, after a survivor cleanses the totem, meaning you have no control over when those 60 seconds are.
Devour Hope, takes a while to get to, with the totem being vulnerable the entire time.
Iron Maiden, sucks ass and the exposed is really short.
Rancor, only works on one guy, when all the gens are powered.
The only "free" insta-down is on Billy, Leatherface, and Iri-Huntress. Billy just got nerfed, and Leatherface has literally nothing else. Iri-Huntress IS an issue though, which will hopefully be fixed when they look at her add-ons. Compared to Borrowed Time, DS, Sprint Burst, Dead Hard, Balanced Landing, insta-downs are often way harder to pull off, or requires more luck.
The 2nd chance perks also only work under certain conditions and are situational. Survivors can get 2nd chances but killers also have many ways to takes chances away.
-
While the first couple of gems seem to go fast a lot of the time killers recover quickly. Keep in mind that killers have about a 65% kill rate in the game and its even higher at red ranks. Longer Gen times would make things better for killers in the early game and would make things incredibly difficult for survivors in the late game.
