Because we're playing the same game as the same role. You're a red ranked killer right? I'm from Europe. I play around the evenings. Our experience must be similar.
So 1 every 100 games is challenging, I agree.
But does it matter? When the survivors are bad, they should be getting demolished. They shouldnt have a chance when they dont learn the game. The player with more experience/skill wins. And when someone has over 2000 hours in dbd he has most of the time a advantage bc of the matchmaking. That goes for both roles, only in solo survivor bad teammates can change it.
-
He is strong and easy. He is not the strongest, but bc he is easy many average killer stomp many average survivor. So his killrate is high.

Congrats. I am now mostly playing survivor and also escape 75% of my games in red ranks. But I'm not just concerned about my own win rate, and even if I was I win 99% of my killer games which just doesn't seem fair (can only remember losing 1 game so far this season, and it's because I totally yolo'd screwing around with survivors to have fun and not caring about winning).
So you say you win with both roles most of the time? So could it be that maybe not the balance between killer and survivor is the problem? Could it be the matchmaking?

"What is the conclusion when dbd is not a party game?"
I mean, the evidence already points to it being a party game. That's like saying "what is the conclusion when the sky is not blue". All the evidence points to the sky being blue.
"And what are other party games? (Fall guys or mario party have a win condition)"
This falls back to your previously mentioned "if we are honest in other games you would say a rank up is a win and nobody would disagree.".
This is the true win condition set by the game. You gain pips. There is nothing you gain by gaining pips other than bragging rights, you can face people who spend 500 hours playing the game having the same amount of pips as someone who played 5000 hours and they both would have equal chances of "winning". But what overal action makes you gain pips? That is what I mean with there being no real win-condition. You can farm all game as a killer and still earn a pip, you can rush kills and earn a pip, you can stand afk for 10 minutes for a NOED+Bloodwarden game and still earn a pip(it would depend mostly on how quick survivors finish gens, sure, but its still a pip). Not all party games have a single winner, not all party games have multiple winners. But only in party games can everyone win. If you were to have equal stars and coins at the end of mario party, everyone would be declared the winner.
I asked that wrong. I meant what is the consequence if dbd is a party game? Does it matter?

Competition requires something to compete for. The only thing you're competing for is an arbitrary definition you have set for yourself. This is why basement bubba protecting his chest being a "win" is a valid playstyle. I could win 10000 games in a row with basement bubba, and it wouldnt matter a bit.
As it stands right now, Tetris is more competitive than DBD.
There is a big discussion about a win in dbd, but if we are honest in other games you would say a rank up is a win and nobody would disagree. Just because many are not satisfied with that and make their own win condition (myself included) doesnt mean that their is no official condition. Now you could say every player could pip in the same match etc. But even a bad designed win condition is still a win condition.
But when we discuss about this we waste too much time.
So i will ask two questions.
What is the conclusion when dbd is not a party game?
And what are other party games? (Fall guys or mario party have a win condition)
-
The problem i have with this is that a good survivor can play it safe. With make your choice and dragons grip i can immediately start the chase and dont need to waste time hooking. But i will certainly try starstruck.
-
DbD has no competitive playlist. But i dont understand your point. What changes that?
-
Luckily i had this only one time. This match was one of my two dcs in over 2000 hours playtime.

For reals. I leveled him up to 40 (dropping to rank 3) and forgot about him ever since. Hope he gets a buff he might be the first killer ever I refuse to use.
I have him p1 50. Two more to go. And i dont want to waste 2xBP-offerings, so i need to play atleast ten matches with him.
-
Trickster. How dare he calls himself a killer?
-
Its my favourite perk. But i never see other people with this profil icon.
-
I dont care if a killer played well and then noed activates and i play mostly solo.
But when i have a camping killer and i need to pray that my teammates do gens and then theres noed its dumb. Theres only two minutes on the hook, we cant do all gens and totems. And the most annoying part is that i know that the killer will use this "effective" strategy next game, too.
Luckily i get only a few matches like that, but those matches are a waste of time.

right and keys run rampant
it's not balanced.
Its not fair, but if players have fewer options to destroy the game, less matches are boring.
Maybe one day everything is gone.

God bus looks weird since the map rework, bc its hard to see the window. But it still exists.
-
Its funny how many dont care for the anti-tunnel-part of ds. Lets you wonder for what they used DS before the nerf.
Op, when you think DS is not worth a perk slot, then simply dont use it.

lol I've done that before. Taught that survivor to fear the killer though.
I dont think its effective. I am still doing it. It wasnt even that close. I finished the gen and couod reach a pallet after that. Now i sometimes take a hit to finish a gen.
-
Bc i finished a gen while the killer was approaching. We were at 4 gens.

Did you change your profile icon?

Its really a shame. Bc of the trickster release most of the april fools are about him.

What is the heal tech?
Maybe when 3 people with soulguard and wglf (+some other healing speed things) heal faster then the killer downs them.
-
Sometimes i think it would be better if everyone uses "op things". The changes seem faster, when more people complain.
But when everyone would do that, i would stop playing.
-
His power in short loops is a safe injure/down. There is almost no counterplay. A power which is most of time not worth it, but in a few circumstances without counterplay is no fun.

Then if they don't know better they shouldnt be at red ranks. Most get carried there by their SWF.
Sone for sure. But most play just a decent amount of games. It is so easy to reach red rank and after the first time you just need to climb from rank 5 every month.

Sure solos dont do that, because i belive a lot have experienced what i did. You do something like that, distracting the killer because you are the only one not on death hook while the others heal and open the gate, and the killer gets you. Even if they dont camp, you will more often than not die on that hook, because the other guys dont care about you. I even had one game where the hatch had spawned, i got a key, and i unhooked the only other survivor, bodyblock the killer so he gets away, and after he healed himself just waited for me to die, because he too had found the hatch.
My most favorite game was a game with a 3-swf where i brought a key. Then i run the killer for 4 gens, then got downed, and the killer went on patrolling. Then the swf came to the hook, teabagged me until i died, took my key and escaped. When i asked why, they just told me "you didnt even work on a gen, you dont deserve to escape". I died on the only hook that game saw.
Now, how often do things like this need to happen to you so you decide you dont care about the others anymore? For me, it took around 5 k hours in this game. Now i still help, but i dont risk anything for you (unless you have proven in the match you are worth the risk, then i am willing to die to save you. But you get those teammates not often.)
Thats different. This survivor know they can sacrifice you and they get out. But there are many survivor who dont help and then the killer gets an easy 4k. And i dont think they have enough experience like someone with over 1000 hours. They just dont know it better.
There are survivor like you described, but i think the majority has no ill intent.

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/238991/imagine-plague-that
Well plague is super strong, but nobody uses her because most people don't like that type of killer , they need to make it so infections very very slowly puts you in dying so you can't just not cleanse
I think its part of a good plague to force survivor to cleanse. They could add more ways to force it but survivor shouldnt have no choice.
-
New update, new bugs. It could be worse.
-
You could heal him and he could bodyblock with two health states and ds. I often have the problem as solo survivor that nobody looks at the hook counter. They want to be healed first and dont take a hit when im injured and they are full health. And that was before ds was nerfed.
When a survivor sacrifices me and dies bc of that in the long run, its a problem bc the survivor is bad. So i hope MMR fixes that.
For the second problem i think we shouldnt need a perk to stop tunneling. We need a better solution. But spreading damage is not viable. So other strategies then tunneling need to be more viable. And i know you dont need to tunnel against most solos. I play 95% solo survivor and its sometimes a mess. But with this teammates i dont deserve to win if im totally honest.
-
In my experience the behaviour of survivor is worse. I play on Ps4 and i got not one message from a killer after the match, but dozens from survivors.
I had one killer who messaged the entire lobby before the match and said that he will now facecamp. It was such a dumb match (Bubba of course), but i destroyed his ruin next to him and then found the hatch.
So while killer are sometimes toxic, the majority of toxicity is from survivor.
-
So when you thought that DS was a bad perk before the nerf, why do you start complaining now?
And what change for ds do you want?

Not gonna lie I do support the DS changes and I think they were healthy for the game; but the problem is now killers are hard tunneling off hook constantly. "But DS would still work if" yeah but not everyone is running DS, however killers are playing in such a way they are trying to make it MANDATORY which is NOT healthy for the game.
If DS becomes mandatory for the game to be playable; then core changes are going to end up being needed. So Killers please ease up on the tunnels for your own good as well as survivors.
A honor code like not using moris every match was fine. But the better solution was the mori nerf. So killer shouldnt ease up on tunneling to avoid a nerf. A nerf is a far better solution and does punish killer who would tunnel anyway.

Yeah that’s true, but that’s having an obsession in the game is helping against tunnelling. Not DS.
Yh but if ds wouldnt exist, a obsession would not help against tunneling.

How does equipping DS stop you getting tunnelled?
In my experience killer tunnel less when they see a obsession. But i cant say that for sure bc i never ask killer why they didnt tunnel me.
When a killer tunnels me, he cant pick me up. When i get slugged, my teammates pick me up even when i play solo. When he takes the ds, i reach a loop and start looping him. My problem with tunneling is that i can do nothing and the match ends too quick. DS helps me with that.

No DS didn’t work in every match. You just said it. Not getting tunnelled does not equal using DS
Yh but thats a good thing. I dont want to be tunneled. And with DS i dont get tunneled. It doesnt matter if i used it or not. I get the result i wanted when i equipped this perk.
Is it worth a perk slot? Depends on the player. Do you want the risk to be tunneled or not?
-
@Mugombo said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2063305#Comment_2063305
Okay why don’t you play as survivor and bring the perk every game for 50 games. Out of those 50 games how many times would you actually get to use DS? My guess would be about 5 of those matches. Why would anyone bring a perk that is only used in 5/50 matches when you can bring perks that work every game.
I do that. I brought DS in over 300 matches. Did i use it that often? Not even close. But in none of this 300 matches i got instantly rehooked. So DS worked in every match. To 100% avoid this is worth a perk slot for me.
-
I have fun with the same perks. I sometimes use different perks and its fun, too. But i dont want to change my perks every round. It takes too long.

I think the 3 and 3 rules holds true for most matches, but there will be outlier matches where it doesn't hold true but it's rare.
3 and 2 rule holds true for most matches, too. 2 gens with one dead is really hard when you have no significant progress and the killer knows what hes doing.
-
Both can be true. Sometimes solo is a nightmare and sometimes you cant beat a swf.
-
I play plague since release. Not often but i played atleast 80 matches. On ps4 i had almost never the problem that survivor wouldnt cleanse, even when i dropped thana.
-
I think some people exaggerate the grind. I have 2000 hours and all killer with all perks. Atleast half of them at P3 and one survivor P3 with all perks. And i played min. 500 hours when you couldnt get two perks in one bloodweb.
But i still think the grind is too much. Its unfair for new player.
The only good thing is that its easy to get the new killer to p3 with all perks and the new perks on all killer before the next chapter is ready. So when you reached the point where you have all perks, you dont need to grind bloodpoints anymore.

So today Scott Jund made a video about how to rework Trapper and it’s actually a great video you should watch https://youtu.be/7d3LjRUncPo
Anyway I was reading the comments and I actually found a idea that could be interesting.
How would you guys feel if Trapper had the ability to stomp his foot on the ground and every trap on the map resets itself but then has a 60 second cooldown it would be like Docs static blast. I think it’s a cool idea that should be experimented on and also another idea he stated was to make it so when someone gets caught in a trap your MS is increased to 150%.
What are your thoughts on this change and Scott Junds ideas
When he had a ability to reset every trap he could just trap gens or totems and get free downs.
-
I never dodge a lobby. Before the mori nerf i sometimes brought a green mori for a key user, but now i just play without mercy.

I don't think it's about toolboxes. It's seeing 4 swapped in last second. You now know you're dealing with swf likely with BNP who will gen rush. So now you adapt, maybe bring discordance or tinkerer and ruin since you're planning on early game rush. So if you chase off the gen you waste the BNPs.
So the problem with last second swapping is that you cant hardcounter the survivor? When its about that, i guess i understand last second swapper. Who wants to bring a flashlight against lightborn?
-
@KeiOrtem said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2052267#Comment_2052267
My only issue is that its not just keys. Like a 3-4 man SWF with toolboxes swapping at the last second and then having the offering where they all start together and potential map offering. Yea its a lot more rare than a sudden key swap but it still bites.
Yh but why dont you like toolboxes? Bc they can be too strong. So if they would be weaker, it wouldnt matter that they swapped last second. Keys were just a example.
-
The problem is not the swapping. Survivor cant see anything about the killer, too. The problem is that things like keys exist which are so strong and annoying that many killer would dodge them. If this things would be nerfed, i would have no problem with last second swapping.
-
When they activated the MMR for 24 hours, i suddenly had good teammates most of the time. So maybe we are lucky and the MMR will solve this issue soon.

Because the suggestion you're making is to add a debuff to the survivors to make gen times longer based on who has been hooked and longer gen times is not the answer , nobody wants to hold m1 for nearly 2 minutes without a meaningful interaction, a change like that would be devastating to solo que where it's already hard enough to have a team who actually does the gens, I just don't think it's a very well thought out idea though I will say it's not a terrible idea
Yh im not sure what the best way is to fix this problem. But i thought that if the killer has so many hooks, he could have just won with tunneling anyway. Maybe the killer would need to hook everyone once and then the first debuff would activate and everybody twice for the second debuff? I know that gen times shouldnt be too long, but i dont know something different which would be better than killing someone early.
The second debuff would be the same as max thana, so maybe it wouldnt be so strong if this debuff was time limited? Like it only lasts 2min after unhook?
