  • I agree with Sluzzy. Never thought i would write this.

    But instagens were still stronger.

Nah a 3gen forced by the Killer is not achieved like that, I do the 3gen a lot as Myers and Jigsaw and I chase Survivors around, hook them also defend every gen I reasonably can.

The thing is every chase you initiate your main goal is to herd whoever you are chasing near the the 3/4 generators you want to protect so they are forced to drop the pallets there or get hooked, this has the benefit of giving you constant info on the generators and check them all the time, also saving PGTW for those gens unless one isolated gen is very close to completion, in that moment either they notice what you are up to or they dont, if they dont they will end up finishing the isolated gens and get themselves into a death trap where they have to fix 1 or 2 gens which are very close in a huge deadzone this is usually a death sentence, every Killer can win this easily since there are no pallets around they have no way to stop a chase.

If they do notice they will attempt to break the 3gen by commiting to one of those and ignoring the isolated gens which in turn gives you a lot of extra time because fixing one of those gens is not going to be easy nor fast, this stalls the game and makes gens go much slower, usually it will cost them several hooks but can be achieved if the pallets are all up.

Forcing a 3gen is not leaving 4 gens to their own demise while waiting for Survivors to come knocking home, thats absurd and should never be tried unless you are playing Trapper and have a very solid map to lay his traps.

Do you think this strategy is too strong?

  • @TheClownIsKing Otzdarva did a 50win-streak with clown. Did he use the bottles correctly or not? If you could confirm it, i could use his video to learn it.

  • @Rizzo90 can you explain to me why this thread is now in feedback & suggestions? I know there are many threads which are in the wrong section, but i think my thread shouldnt be in this section.

I dont want to suggest this idea. Its a 5sec idea and there are probably many problems with it. I wanted to discuss this idea and see different opinions. Then when i would be sure this idea makes sense, i would suggest it. Thats why the title is a question.

Wouldn’t fix the main issue which is early game speed. Late game gen defence isn’t too bad actually

    @The_Krapper said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/237347/would-spreading-out-hooks-be-viable-if

The problem lies in the very first chase because if the survivors are good three will be on separate gens while one is getting chased and by the time the first goes down three gens should be popping, as a killer in the current state of the game you almost have to just pick the 4 closest gens from the beginning and plan for your endgame, increasing gen times will drive players away and the game is fairly close to being balanced at this point so you cant do anything that's too overwhelming, SOMETHING needs to happen before you can start gens but what that something is Im not sure...

I know that. But what has an early game mechanic to do with spreading hooks? Losing early gens or not, i should still focus on making it a 3vs1. Its a different issue.

You could say that making the game more balanced with an early game mechanic, would allow the devs to nerf tunneling. But i think you cant nerf tunneling that hard that killer would start spreading hooks without an incentive. Such a strong anti-tunneling-mechanic would break the game.

  • @HectorBrando said:

Reading some of the coments people are posting I think a lot misunderstood what OP was asking (or maybe I misunderstood).

He talks about the strategy where the last 3 gens are extremely close and easy to patrol, not the point where there are 3 gens left in diferent corners of the map, just saying because Im reading certain comments that dont make much sense to me like "Freddy with his teleport" or "Demogorgon with his portals", in a 3gen teleport or mobility skills dont really factor that much for gens are like 5 seconds away of each other in a straight line.

Actually i asked about a 3gen forced by the killer. So if the survivor play smart and realize what the killer is doing, they would get 4 gens for free, waste almost no pallets and wouldnt be on deathhook.

So some comments are not helpful, but its ok. Its normal for a discussion and i got many good answers.

Adrenaline works the exact same way as NOED does, just in a reversed way (noed increases speed&technically reduces health of all survivors by 1, adrenaline gives a speed boost&increases health by 1), while DS does a similar job - being a comeback tool.

Yes, thats correct. So only Sluzzy knows which aspect of Noed he wants for a survivor perk.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2050293#Comment_2050293

I still think same. I didnt say nerf kindred because killers are weak. It is just unfair perk for killers. Survivors can see each other, also they can see where are you going. So remove killer's aura, that's all.

Why? Swf has the same info.

  • No survivors noed is decisive strike. Adrenaline rewards you for winning.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Any killer can defend a 3 gen, he just needs to have the right perks and a hook in the middle of his 3 gen. Ofc some killers are better: Nurse, Spirit and Blight can end chases insanely fast, Oni with Blood Fury can slug survivors in the middle of the 3 gen, Hag and Trapper are very territorial, Doctor has insane pressure with Static Blast, etc.

Yh but they cant do it from the start, right? Otherwise killers would always play with a 3gen-strat. The survivor need to allow a 3gen or not?

Honestly it's possible in some matches to have ruin last a long time. Even if it doesn't spawn in your 3gen if the survivors don't see it as a major priority they won't cleanse it until its too late. Also, killers like Nurse or Spirit can get over to their totem easily, and technically every gen is a 3gen with freddy because ✨teleport✨

Its a bad play from the survivor if they would decide to push the 3gen instead of cleansing the totem and no killer can win the game if one survivor harrasses the totem and the other three do gens. They can start clransing and always run away and if the killer commits the last gen is done.

Freddy can pressure every gen. But only one. His cooldown is too long, so he cannot defend 3 gens against 4 survivor. Survivor get a headstart anyway when they see his teleport.

  • @GoodBoyKaru said:

Hex: Ruin and Save The Best For Last would be everyone's beat friends here, except Nurse. Discordance or Surveillance too.

But with Ruin you would need to be lucky. If it doesnt spawn near your 3gen it will be gone.

  • Its 4sec instead of 3. I think its still weaker than the meta exhaustion perks, but a longer duration is a step in the right direction.

It is good that one problem is solved, but we still have Keys in the game MONTHS after the mori change.

Yh thats bad. But the devs are just slow. There was no reason that such a simple mori change wasnt implemented 2 years ago.

But my argument is that its better to do one thing first then doing nothing. So it would be better to first solve quick killer-sided or quick survivor-sided matches instead of waiting to solve both at the same time.

  • @Pulsar said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2048657#Comment_2048657

That is correct, Killers winning fast has little to do with gen times.

But just like with the Mori v Key debate, there is a similar problem on both sides. It needs to be addressed at the same time, otherwise the other side will feel that it is unfair (which may be true).

I have a different opinion. It is unfair but it doesnt need to be addressed at the same time.

It was unfair that moris got nerfed and keys are only a work in progress. But its good that atleast the mori problem is solved. I have less unfun matches now.

  • @Pulsar said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2047342#Comment_2047342

It is though. It's like trying to win an argument without addressing the other side's points.

I think this problem is important. I did a post "operation fun" today where i mention that tunneling shouldnt be so strong, but its a different problem. Killers dont win that fast bc of the gen times. So a solution for gen times wouldnt affect the problem with killer ending matches quick. So i would prefer another thread for this topic instead of using one thread for two topics. Its the same like the keys and moris discussions. Both shorten the game and are the counterpart for the other side, but defending keys bc there are moris was not a good argument.

I think it would be more productive to search for a solution for both problems in a separate thread instead of using it as a counterargument.

And should those other short games also not be avoided?

Yh but thats not the point of this discussion.

  • She has a different playstyle and some dont like it that survivor can deny your power. (Except that default fountain)

She is a decent killer. Not one of the strongest but not one of the weakest.

But her puke has sometimes a weird hit registration and that can be annoying.

How do you know it is not OPs fault? If it happens regularly to them, they might not be as good as they think they are.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2047271#Comment_2047271

You can win games as Killer without going for 4 man slugs. You can also win games as Survivor without "genrush" (which I consider as letting people die on Hooks to push out Gens, no matter what).

3-4 minute games are very rare, if that is happening frequently, the Killer player is pretty bad. Even in my worst games I remember, I did not have games like this, and I had games which are in my mind where I got 4 Hooks in the end or where I overcommitted so hard, because I was stubborn. And those games did not end that fast.

I do agree on the Snowball aspect tho, most results are probably 4Ks or 4 man escapes, since either the Killer is not able to apply enough pressure or the Survivors get stomped, and once they reach the point of 4 gens done, nobody dead (and no 3-gen) or 1 Survivor dead before enough Gens are done, the game is basically over, as long as there is no huge skill gap between the two sides.

I dont talk about the op. I dont know what happened in theur matches. There are enough killer who complain bc they are bad and dont realize it.

I talk about my experience. This matches are rare. But they make it obvious for me that i only win in other matches bc survivor dont focus gens.

  • @Pulsar said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2047267#Comment_2047267

I would say having short games where the Killer clearly outclasses the Survivors is more common than a genrush squad of that caliber.

And? When survivor are bad, they obviously lose. I know as solo survivor how bad some red ranks are.

And i wouldnt call it genrush. They just do gens, bc its the only objective. The other survivors who decide to ignore gens are the problem. The balance shouldnt be for them.

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

Does it happen often to you that you get Games which are done in 3-4 minutes?

Does it matter how often this happens if its not your fault? When it would only happen when you screw up it would be ok. But it depends on the survivor. When you know that you only win bc survivor are bad, its frustrating.

  • Sometimes im afk for the first 15 seconds. And as killer i normally dont want to waste a second.

  • We need a better tutorial for new players. And bots like mobile. New players need to have a chance to learn this game.

  • Jungle gyms would be a lot better when there would not be so many on some maps. Survivor can just waste jungle gyms left and right and when they use the full potential most killer have no chance. This tile would be more interesting if the survivor would need to take a risk to not create a deadzone. And its not risky when theres a cow tree next to it.

If you use a specific build he's the best killer in the game 100%.

I dont think so. Which build?

  • I want to see it. Without it its hard to see improvement, bc your results wont change. I want to know whether i start losing bc i play worse or whether the opponents get better.

I try to measure it right now with win streaks. Its not the best way but thats the only option. When MMR takes it away, i probably lose my motivation to play. I know it from other games. You try your best, but you get worse results. Its no fun. And DbD has no rank playlist.

His snares can shorten loops, not even counting if you combine that with something like bamboozle. We're talking about facing really good survivors right? Splitting up on gens is the best defense against any killer. But if a killer can get fast downs, and Freddy can if his snares are utilized properly, then he can snowball almost as effectively as any good Nurse or Spirit. Yes not as fast as a Nurse or a Spirit, but still very effectively against a good team.

PH's who try to tunnel good survivors will lose because they are guessing where the cage is (assuming someone was not right beside where the cage spawned to save then they are really wasting their time), and can still be looped by a good survivor if they manage to find them. Killers who try to tunnel against a good team are asking to lose. Good survivors know how a Hag and her web works. Its the potatoes who go blundering into it like a bull in a china shop that get snowballed hard by a Hag. Unless she has the shackles, but even then good survivors will be visually aware of trap placements.

You need to tunnel against the best teams. Or atleast try to focus two survivor. Nurse and Spirit can catch up after a ds. When you dont have someone dead on 6 hooks, maybe less, you have lost. Tunneling doesnt work only with a killer who needs to rely on survivor mistakes, bc the tunneled survivor plays it safe.

I dont like tunneling but it is one of the best strategies like snowballing.

But its true that Survivor can play it safe against Pyramid and you will lose. But Freddy needs time for two hits, time to place snares and survivor can hold w. And he cant avoid ds. His chases are too long.

Without a flashlight a hag can force a hit with her traps. She can trap a loop quick and then the survivor needs to leave. I have seen some successfull hags in the BotB tournament (when Spirit and Nurse were not available). Not all survivor were the best, but freddy got destroyed in this tournament.

  • @Dwight_Fairfield said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2039901#Comment_2039901

He may be weaker than them but he is head and shoulders above the rest of the killers because his base kit is so oppressive.

His basekit has many options. But its not really oppressive against good survivor. He can defend every gen, but when survivor split up, he cant be everywhere. He gets downs with his snares, but he needs too much time. And survivor can ignore sleep.

Even with ruin and tinkerer a freddy cant stop survivor working on different gens. And when he interrupts them, he cant chase them bc it would take too long and three other gens are done.

Pyramid can atleast try to tunnel. And Hag would be stronger without object and flashlights.

  • @Dwight_Fairfield said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2039848#Comment_2039848

Unless you're playing Nurse, Spirit, or Freddy that applies to every killer.

Freddy is far weaker then Nurse and Spirit. You need too long to down good survivor.

  • All the killer you mentioned are not really underrated. They are weaker then other killer. Being weaker doesnt mean that you cant win with them. I win with them, too, and i play some of them only for dailys. But i win bc im better than the survivor i verse.

Its eye opening when i win with myers 80% of my matches and then i get a good team and get completely destroyed.

  • Even with Corrupt the totem at the start is a time waste.

Dont hide, try to take the aggro from ash.

3:28 is a lithe waste. And dont hide after that. Your scratch marks show that you stopped there. Its better to make distance against a deathslinger.

Its better to not spin against the hit. Take the hit and vault so he cant do a follow-up shot.

  • I had this phase bug many times. Its so annoying when i could down the rescuer, but i hit bt instead.

I hope they fix it with the next chapter. But other bugs take months.

  • @MadLordJack said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2033792#Comment_2033792

Except theres no fix for not even having to play the game. What are the Devs gonna do, buff Bloodlust? Buff the mechanic that killers cheese to make looping impossible?

They could rework some maps. Smaller size and weaker tiles.

  • @MadLordJack said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2033711#Comment_2033711

But they don't. They don't go up. Because there's significantly more predrop-and-W than Spirits, Blights and Nurses. So every. Single. Damn. Game. Is just survivors not even trying to play and winning by default.

Yh but thats good. Survivor should use the best strategy to win. Its time that the devs see how unbalanced some things are.

  • I think you need to play more matches to get better matchmaking results.

And even if you still get destroyed every match, maybe the devs realize that they need to balance better.

  • Its too much work. And some powers can never be S-tier, i guess. Most killer are around B-tier. So it would be better to get all killer to this level. And then nerf survivor.

  • @Phasmamain said:

Once your very experienced with a certain killer you can end chases very fast as any killer using effective mind games

Yh but only bc then he will be the one with a skill advantage. With spirit he can win against survivor with the same skill level.

That said i would still recommend to learn the basics with a 115% killer.

  • It is a tactic. But i doubt many use it that way. When i play killer i win most of the time. Almost noone is toxic.

But when i tried nurse and im a really bad nurse, i got so many teabags and flashlight clicking. I dont care about that behaviour anymore, but it shows that most survivor use it when they already winning. So the intention is just to bully when you are in a position of power.

  • It would be easier to change big maps or maps with no way of catching up like Haddonfield.

  • It got nerfed when some maps got smaller.

  • @VexTheHex said:

Going off game logic, he can only attack uncloaked. If he can attack while invisible, that'd be a buff to him. However, I think he'd still place about the same, possibly only beating out Trickster and PH with that in mind. His weapon is melee and his breathing is loud. He certainly wouldn't get the drop on Huntress or Oni.

You dont need to attack in a battle royale.

  • @VexTheHex said:

    1st Wave of Victims

Legion - Inexperienced knife wielding teens would get crushed.

Clown - Unhealthy, unfit fat guy with a knife.

Ghostface - Normal guy with a knife.

Pig - Normal woman with a knife.

Freddy - Tiny man with knife finger glove things.

Plague - Slow and her power takes time to damage. Trash tier weapon of choice.

Twins - Victor would get stepped on, Charlotte would go in rage and die dumbly with her melee weapon.

    2nd Wave of Victims

Trapper - Doubt he's have time to set up anything, slightly better melee weapon

Hillbilly - Too dumb and wreckless, loud weapon

Leatherface - Too dumb and wreckless, loud weapon

Myers - Ignoring movie logic, he'd struggle only using a kitchen knife and brute strength against everyone

Nurse - Fatigue would be her death

Demogorgon - Smarter combatants will beat out the more feral animals.

Hag - Same as above. Weapon isn't the best.

Blight - Same as above Demo. Cane isn't the best weapon at all.

    3rd Wave of Victims

Doctor - Not sure how much the shocks would slow the others down. He literally gives off his location. His weapon is mediocre.

Wraith - Stealth and smarter, but ringing his bell would be a huge opening like Nurse's fatigue.

Pyramid Head - Big target and pretty slow. Some points to him for his supernatural aspects.

Trickster - Ranged. Most people are ignoring how huge of a advantage range is. He has speed and agility to letting him kite most Killers, but his ego would get him killed as he'd drop his guard at some point.

Spirit - Ghostly teleports would let take out many, but she isn't that strong and more hyper aware Killers like Huntress would find and kill her.

Deathslinger - Ranged. He could instantly take out most of the cast with a head shot, but his reload would get him killed.

    Finalists

    Oni and Huntress

Both have the the battle knowledge, the power, the speed, and the weapons. It'd be intense. I'll pick... Huntress only cause I feel she could get the drop on someone more than thunder boot Oni. Honestly, they both would probably die in the end from injuries suffered.

I dont think Wraith would ever uncloak. And with his speed while invisible, he would get easy the second place.

  • Ruin, Undying, Discordance and Infectious.

Try to infect everyone first and while you spread the damage, ruin will stop the gens. Then when everyone is injured use your fountain to snowball with Infectious.

When you waste your fountain and nobody cleanses you get a problem. Then you need to force a cleanse. When all survivor are injured they cant get a safe rescue.

  • I think this strat is possible. You would probably need to adjust the chase against some killers like Blight, but it is not really a problem to waste enough time against any killer except top tier players with a top tier killer.

That said video proof would help to make it more convincing. But in the end most will say the same arguments like with the killer win streaks (bad opponents etc) and the which side is op-question would still be unanswered for them.

  • For me its Haddonfield. Or some of the farm maps. Lately the Game is a strong contender, too.

  • Solo que can be tormenting. Watching a red rank feng urban evading to your rescue for 30 seconds and then one meter away she steps in a bear trap and you die, is really annoying. But now in retroperspective its funny.

You need to have the mindset that everything can happen and after the match it doesnt matter anymore, otherwise solo que is not healthy.

  • I get consistently wiggle free with breakout and sabo when i play solo.

I know you said breakout is fine and boil over should be buffed, but you always need to watch out for synergy. While killer can combine four perks, survivor have 16 slots available. It doesnt hurt as much to waste some perk slots.

  • Killing one survivor early is the best way to win the game. And tunneling is the simplest way to achieve that.

It doesnt matter that a good killer doesnt need it most of the time bc survivor are bad.

So the only way to reduce tunneling is a gameplay change. There needs to be a benefit for not tunneling.

  • Its hard to say. Bc of the rift i played against many nurses, but its sometimes hard to tell if my looping is working or the nurse is just not good enough.

But as solo survivor you need to hope against every killer that your team doesnt fail you. In my experience there is no difference when i play against nurse.

I doubt it. They said the next one will be Demo (most likely only Add-Ons, which is fair, since his Basekit is fine).

I think Rat liver basekit is a good change. His basekit is not the worst but it certainly could have some minor improvements.
