do hags camp in the basement? I never camped and never will but is it a valid strat for the hag?

The good thing with hag is that you can "camp" the basement without being there. With 2-3 traps you force the survivor to crouch the entire way. So when you hear the rescue and are around 50 meters you can walk back and catch them before they can leave the basement. With Make your Choice you get a free down.

When they trigger a trap you get a free exchange, too.

I've never tried this, but an insidious bubba with nemesis and dying light could work well. You make sure the first chase procs nemesis, hook them, then bubba camp near by. You either get altruistic survivors coming to their death, or they leave the obsession to die, activating dying light.

Thats old dying light. With new dying light you want the obsession to be alive.

If the game is heavily balanced towards Killers, then why is it widely agreed that only 2 Killers are viable in high level play?

I would say widely agreed when we speak about experienced player. You really shouldnt be surprised that many players think otherwise.

  • Survivor:

    1. Ace

    2. Feng

    3. Bill

    4. Kate

    5. Ash

    6. Nancy

    7.Cheryl

    8. Felix

    9. Meg

    10. David

    Killer

    1. Wraith

    2. Billy

    3. Hag

    4. Ghostface

    5. Doctor

    6. Plague

    7. Deathslinger

    8. Trapper

    9. Myers

    10. Trickster

  • There are some problems with it like losing bloodpoint is not good, but the main problem is simple:

What do you do with the players who dont care about bloodpoints?

There needs to be a gameplay solution. When killer shouldnt tunnel, tunneling needs to not be the best way to win.

  • Its feels more sweaty. But i played earlier as usual. Its more interesting that i got worse survivor when i played nurse. Im still learning nurse on console and so it makes sense that the game gives me weaker survivor if they are testing the MMR right now.

  • You have enough experience as killer that you should know that it can hurt a team really bad, when one survivor never gets chased.

Other than that it is a nice build.

  • I had something similar bc of my controller. And when i was in a laggy match my killer felt slower, too.

  • Its even more effective when you ignore two survivor. When only two survivor are alive it doesnt matter how often they got hooked, too.

I appreciate all your tips!, Since I am newer to dBd even I myself think that self-care's the best perk possible. I might be wrong I am sorry I don't know much but adding botany knowledge makes you heal faster which to me when I heal myself I feel like it's faster than 33 Seconds and probably is. But it's great how you just explained all this to me I understand alot now. And I'll definitely use your tricks.

You can use botany knowledge and desperate measures to speed up the healing. Pair this with resilience and you got a fast self care and you can 99% for the resilience buff. Its a fun build, but not the strongest.

I mean whatever you say, this guy goes on 300+ win streaks camping and tunneling habitually but I guess it only works against noobs. I will listen to you when it stops working for me.

I watched 3 matches, maybe you want to give me the timestamp where he wins a match with camping from the start? His perks wouldnt even work with camping.

Edit: and it wouldnt even matter when he wins a match with camping, he certainly doesnt win the majority of his matches with that otherwise he would do it every match

I mean it works all the time for me, and I play at rank 1. Granted, I proxy camp I don’t face camp. And I usually only camp from 2nd stage to dead unless I’m playing pyramid head, in which case first to second into an execute works fine.

You just slug anyone who comes near the hook. Or go get a slug and then go back to hook, it’s not rocket science.

If the hook is in the middle of 3 gens and you get it super early camping is a totally viable strategy.

Yh obviously it works. Bc the survivor are bad. Against this survivor you could win without camping when you would be a good killer.

Dont get me wrong i am a killer who uses everything in his arsenal to win, but many killer just use the survivor are too strong argument to not improve. When you get better results with camping you have a long way to go. Camping the entire time is not a counterplay to strong survivor, its a tool to stomp noobs.

You are not getting 12 hooks against a good team unless you are playing the most broken stuff available.

If you spend the first 90 seconds of the game getting your first hook (which is very common if the survivors can loop and you are playing a weaker killer) and it costs you almost 2 gens, why would you ever think you should try it again 11 more times?

You have to camp and tunnel at that point. It’s just a necessity with current gen speeds unless you are a spirit main or something.

Yh but you will not get more then one kill with camping against a good team either. So i can understand tunneling, but not camping from the start. With camping you rely on survivor mistakes.

We seem to be on the same page then to some regards. I don’t need BP either and I dont care what my rank is, I’ve been rank 1 many times, now I just play for fun aka kills.

So its beneficial for me to just camp rather than chase a survivor who’s trying to bait me into an area with 20 god pallets or overpowered window loops. The maps need fixing to a point where it is beneficial for a killer to take the chase and have fun rather defending a kill.

It’s the hooks vs kills debate and once you have the t-shirt for being rank 1 and have all the perks unlocked so you no longer need BP, there’s no incentive to play “fair” by survivor standards. I say this as someone who used to play a lot of survivor too. My friend and I went against a Bubba who camped 2 survivors in the basement a few weeks back, he just wanted the kills and he got a 3k by doing this (my friend got the hatch).

Yh to some regards we are on the same page, but i personally dont think camping is fun. I play for winstreaks aka 4k, but i want to get better. With camping i have no improvement, so i use it as tool like in a 3 gen, but never as main strategy.

    Is camping not boring?

    So, SWFs are justified?

Then why do so many killers complain about it?

I'm trying to play like a normal person, but due to BBQ I have no other choice but to run smth killers themselves despise so much?

    2 + 2 = 5?

Ok i make it easy to understand.

    1. Swf

    2. Killer

    3. Solo survivor

This list is wrong, but the point is do you want to play the side with the handicap? No, you dont want to have to deal with bad teammates? Then play swf. Is it easier and could be boring? Yes, then play solo survivor. Pick your poison and dont let some people on a forum decide what you do.

Otzdarva has like 7000 hours. He’s more advanced than a regular player and again he’s one who slugs often and a lot of his games I see end with slugs or prioritising hooks to eliminate one early aka tunneling. I’ve also seen him patrol a second hook to confirm the kill.

Try chase, hook, chase fresh survivor hook, chase fresh survivor, hook etc and see how long those 4k streaks go.

I played for 12hooks my first 1500 hours. I know the limits of that. So why should i use this, when i dont need BP anymore? I dont tunnel, but i prioritize players which were hooked before. When i have 6-7 hooks i want someone dead.

And i dont say everyone can do that. I have over 2000 hours. But you can reach this point. Is it fun to know that i win bc my opponents were worse? Not really. Do i want maps with busted loops nerfed and a mechanic which encourages not tunneling? Yes. But what i want to say is that you can win consistently.

This isn't survival of the fittest.

Survivors are supposed to work together to survive.

That's why there are 4 sides to a gen and a shared goal.

What's the point in me using my teammates as pawns for some stupid perk that forces me to either: A) play in a group which every killers hate or B) Equip counter perks by predicting BBQ while I cross my fingers and hope others will do the same.

    It's stupid.

The problem is not that you have no communication with your teammates. The problem is that your teammates are too bad to counter BBQ. And its the same in every game. When your team is bad, you will lose.

I disagree with crossplay, there are plenty of good players from my experience and also a lot more swf.

There are surely good players. But as someone who plays both sides, i know that they make mistakes otherwise gens wouldnt be so slow. I shouldnt be able to win so often as killer, when the survivor were good. I know how strong good survivors are, but mostly the difference between them and the survivor in most of my matches is like day and night.

I have a similar experience against survivor like otzdarva. Long winstreaks are possible. But it could be bc we both play in the evening in europe.

  • @Dizzy1096 said:

It doesn’t get better when you’re red ranks and much more experienced. The problem with the game is and always has been the maps, and you never really feel outplayed. If you get a map like Haddonfield for example it just feels like the best survivor is not determined by skill or someone thats able to predict you, its about who knows how to exploit the abysmal map design the most. A lot of maps take no skill as survivor, sprint bursting to the safest loops which a lot of the older killers are just not equipped to handle efficiently. That’s the thing a lot of people don’t realize, if you’re playing an older killer that’s easily looped the survivors always have the advantage over you in chases and you need them to make a mistake in order to capitalize. Hence why everyone wants to play killers like Spirit.

Personally I’m at that point now where I’ve seen and done it all, been rank 1 many times, got all the perks, don’t need bloodpoints, beat some amazing teams. I now only play for kills and so I admit I facecamp shamelessly. I’m getting more 4ks than ever before and don’t need to worry so much about busted map design. So hey its not just the killers who aren’t having fun 😂

I would say there is a point where it gets better. Will there be a point where you can do something against some loops? No, but when you have around 2000 hours in red rank you will be better than most others. When you have crossplay on you can win most of the time, bc your opponents are not good.

This game brings the best and worst out of all of us and those who stick with or main the Killer go through transitions. Some examples.

New Killer - Amazing powers to try, maps to see and learn and people to learn to hunt. Some frustrations, sure, but he can stick with it because everything is still fresh.

Power Tripping Killer - Having fun because he controls your life and death and chooses who lives and dies. Usually 4k and chooses when to 3k. Things have been learned and now they are being capitalized and the climb to red ranks is finally here.

Frustrated Killer - the top wasn’t as magical as was promised. Red rank survivors are so much stronger then you could have realized. The build isn’t strong enough, looping has more tricks then previously experienced and paranoia starts setting in. EVERYONE IS SWF, THEY ARE ALL CHEATING!

Desperate/Troll Killer - If I can’t have fun then I’ll drag someone down to my level, that might be fun. Like I could face camp or I could slug until death. If I limit myself to just one person I could just tunnel and tunnel and ensure one person has a terrible time and if I’m lucky, maybe more if they are altruistic enough.

Enlightened Killer - No, but I’m being too selfish. I’ve got more experience, knowledge, and understanding of the game now, I know how unfun and frustrating I’m being for the other side. I need to put more effort into playing more fairly....but the survivors keep flashlight clicking and t-bagging me and mocking my efforts when I do so. That makes me mad, I’ll start punishing the survivors in the game after I get bullied, then I’ll try to go back to playing fair.

Zen Killer - What does it matter, why do I get so emotionally invested in a game with strangers who I shouldn’t let upset me. T-bagging is just a silly dance not a disrespectful gesture, flashlight clicking is no different then a toddler crying because nobody is paying them enough attention. Getting kills isn’t important, just focus on enjoying messing around with my killer power and trying to do something unexpected or cool. If they all escape, then they escape, what’s most important is that I get BP. All hail the BP.

Fun Killer - I dunno I’m not there yet.

Im really interested what will happen when you dont need BP anymore. That changed my playstyle a lot.

Suicide on hook is banable? This is the first time I'm hearing this.

I thought the same argumentation for being repeatedly afk would apply to repeatedly instant dying to lose your rank. Op wants to die without playing the game. But maybe @mandytalk can say more.

  • I think when you throw the game every match and gets always reported, you could get banned. Im talking about obvious behaviour like suiciding or being afk.

And you should be aware that for every rank you depip this way you ruin the fun of 20 people. So roughly 100 people will have a bad time til you reach green rank.

You could just always not escape at the end of the match and you wouldnt get banned. But i dont know whether you get many depips that way.

  • For killer i track winstreaks. So i can compare the killers. When i lose, i try to identify why i lost and change my playstyle accordingly.

As survivor i track nothing. But i observe changes. I switched for example to ds when i got farmed too often. I came to the conclusion that ds does not trigger most of the time too. But with DS i elimate most of the matches where i get a depip without counterplay.

  • @Phasmamain said:

I don’t think this would be enough tbh. I only play killer when I want to and bp isn’t enough to deal with the frustration

His primary power can be easily nullified by a teammember. This makes him bottom tier. What´s the point of shooting someone, when you can´t reel them in?

I played atleast hundred matches with deathslinger and i never saw a team consistently do it.

There are very few possibilities to do it (mostly long range shots) and they need to be always near.

Killers are weak as hell? I'm sorry but what? Dowsey literally just went on a 150+ 4k streak. Blight in the hands of a decent killer can wipe the floor with any team. PH is probably one of the best well rounded killers in the game.

Meanwhile Survivors? When was the last time we actually received a Meta perk? Don't worry.. I'll wait

When you cant see why this winstreak was possible, you should try to get better at survivor. I would only call me a decent red rank survivor but even i see how bad most of this survivors were.

Matchmaking makes this streaks possible not op killer.

  • He suffers not really more from swf then other killer. His stealth is weaker against them, but that doesnt make him bottom tier.

I can't believe that people feel they can get bullied in a video game. Not everyone is gonna be nice, and they don't have to (aside from racial slurs obviously).

You can get bullied everywhere. Its not surprising that it happens and most people expect it, but that doesnt mean its ok.

Making someone miserable, is always dumb.

  • Did Youtube think you need to see it again, too?

  • You could use Thana, Ruin, Undying and Monitor for Legion.

Gens regress while survivor are mending and totems and gens are slower bc of thana. Monitor shows you more survivor when you hit someone in frenzy and you can get easier near injured survivor and down them. But you could still have problems to down survivor who play really safe. So you could switch Monitor with something which helps you with that. But i found nothing better. Instead of Ruin/Undying you can also use Pop/Thrilling.

For Myers i use Corrupt, Pop, Monitor and BBQ/Thrilling.

Corrupt bc good teams can make the early game hard, but you can use stalking speed addons, too.

Woah, ok, I wasn’t trying to attack you in any way - it’s more directed at the devs and the inconsistency. Maybe I came off harsh, so I apologize.

Overall, I don’t want you to do anything for me, and that’s the point. The devs should have the info available on the forum like they usually do. And yes, the original purpose of this thread was to ask for a link to where the info is on the forum, because I couldn’t find it.

Then it would be better to post this in the feedback section.

  • I had some unfun matches, too. The killer was a spirit who tunneled a meg from the start. After she died the other two got down in seconds and slugged. Then i got chased and i realized that the spirit player was good. She could track me perfect with iron will, so no new player. I thought her playstyle was overkill and didnt understand why she would do that.

Then i saw the endgame screen. The meg had object. No wonder she got tunneled. There are certainly some killer who always tunnel, camp etc., but you never know what the survivor did to deserve that.

  • @Zarathos said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1991570#Comment_1991570

This is a longstanding issue. It creates a vicious cycle of newer killers dropping the role because of these awful experiances. I can't count the number of times I asked my friends why dont you play more killer? Who usually respond with the statement I don't play killler because I keep getting player who are way more experienced then I am.

This is not some exceptional circumstance the regularity at which this occurs is awful. Why introduce an mmr system when whats needed most right now is a less steeper learning curve or better ways to teach newer killer players important fundamentals?

I think the best way to solve this would be bots. This would give new killers a chance to learn the basics.

  • A good survey is designed with a specific result in mind. The question can make no sense for the people who answer them or some of them can be filler questions. But in the end a company would like to know everything about their customer, every tiny bit of info could be useful sometime. So they take what you give them.

  • How is it so hard for some people to understand that penalties for swf is a stupid idea? Every two weeks someone has this idea.

It makes a lot more sense to give solo a buff and balance killer with that. Its easier done and there is less room for a balancing mess. Not that the devs will do any of that in the near future.

  • "So as we all know DBD is basically bully sim 2021 at this point."

The "at this point" sounds wrong. It sounds like it got worse. But i think it got better for killer. They still need to change things and they are really slow, but it is the right direction.

  • Why are there so many safe pallets on the Game?

    Is it bc...

    1. The statistic shows that survivor are bad enough to still die?

    2. The devs dont know how strong some loops are?

    3. Nobody tested this maps?

Guess right and you win... nothing. All three reasons would be frustrating when they are true.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1986339#Comment_1986339

Yeah but also leaving people till 2nd stage is annoying, so I'd like to give them incentive to save them sooner rather than later.

Yh that would be good. I think something similar to kindred as basekit would be helpful. So that solo survivor know that nobody goes for the rescue.

  • @ilovedbd123 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1985584#Comment_1985584

No, I mean the killer harshly punished for face camping and the survivors given an incentive to save survivors rather than leaving them on the hook, (maybe 5% when on hook, 10% when dead ), and maybe like a stackable 10% Bp bonus (with a cap at 50-75%) if they hit and down a different target. This would allow for the killer to want to leave and switch targets, whilst giving incentives to survivors to save them quickly.

Its always good when you have something that survivors unhook. But i dont know whether this will have a effect. Right now you get the most bloodpoints when you unhook (gens are giving a lot less for example) and when somebody dies survivor have a hard time bc 3vs1 is a lot harder.

So there are strong incentives to unhook in the game. So i think people who dont unhook will still not unhook even with this new incentives.

I personally dont have the unhook problem often.

  • I played against a killer who hardtunneled me. So i asked him why. He said i am really toxic bc i finished a gen while he was approaching.

And i had a survivor who was fully healed and worked on a gen. He got downed and still used ds. Later i got him again and he was unhooked before me. So i downed and killed him. He spammed pms asked why i am tunneling him. Apparently its ok to use ds this way and then the killer is not allowed to use the fact that the ds got used.

  • @Orion said:

So, to be clear, you play against killers who are bad and use NOED, but you also can't find an opportunity cleanse totems (even though they are bad), and you want to make sure only the most powerful killers have access to NOED, even though you already can't cleanse totems against the bad ones?

You dont need to be a powerful killer to get some hooks before all gens are done. And i think with this stack system you wouldnt get less downs with noed.

It would only bad for players who facecamp and then use noed.

  • @ilovedbd123 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1985292#Comment_1985292

No, what I mean is survivors need incentive to save their teammates whilst punishing face camping.

Do you mean that survivors should be forced to save someone who gets facecamped or generally that they dont leave someone on the hook?

  • @JPA said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1984737#Comment_1984737

I don't think survivors should be able to deny you score by suiciding on hook

I didnt mean that. The score is not different whether you hook someone three times or he suicides. But you would get a gameplay boost when you hook him three times (like a debuff for survivor for example). So it would be more effective to hook many people then killing one. A suiciding survivor could deny you this gameplay mechanic, but it wouldnt affect your score.

  • @ilovedbd123 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1984737#Comment_1984737

Or, punishing survivors when a teammate dies with a slight debuff maybe?

Maybe make gens take 10-15-20% longer when 1-2-3 survivors dies.

And then rewarding killers for switching targets, so they dont feel the need to tunnel.

This would mean that survivors will more than likely play around protecting teammates more often, and that killers may swap targets and get a stackable 5-10% extra bp every time he hits a different survivor in order. And can max out at 100% extra bp

That makes no sense. Then it would be the same as now. Killer would tunnel so someone dies and the other survivor get a debuff.

When somebody is dead, the killer has a big advantage. He doesnt need any gen debuff.

  • @venom12784 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1984737#Comment_1984737

That is going to lead to slugging. That is why hooks is better than kills. It promoted a style of hooking multiple people instead of hook and wait till they die or slug then hook them

No? Why should someone slug more when he gets a reward for hooking?

  • @venom12784 said:

So 3 hooks on one survivor is a sacrifice. A survivor left on a hook for too long is a sacrifice. Tru3 brings up good , my only issue is working out hook suicide and survivors that are abonded on the hook to die.

The best solution would be to reward hooking different survivor. The win condition should be still 3-4 kills, but the best way to achieve it should be not tunneling.

So suicide or bad teammates wouldnt affect the killer score.

  • Like others said necessary means its necessary to win. It doesnt matter whether its necessary bc the killer did too many mistakes or the survivor are too strong.

When someone wants to win in a pvp game you cant say no to him.

So when you do want it changed, its necessary that it isnt the best way to win. And thats a dev decision.
