No, it's still an extremely OP perk that if used at the right time can cost the killer a kill or more.

There is no counter to it. If the last person alive has it then they get the hatch guarenteed with no counter play.

Sometimes it gets used in a good spot, the survivor manages to get to a strong loop and this buys the remaining survivors time to finish the last gen, thus ensuring they get the doors open.

All this has happened so many times to me the past few days all because of one perk.

Decisive Strike can not be balanced in its current form. It needs to go. There is no alternative. The idea about having it be a stun might have worked but the problem is anything where it gives the survivor a free escape is too OP, but the devs in their wisdom think it NEEDS to grant an escape off their shoulder which is why it will always remain an OP crutch perk.

The best thing to do would be to remove it from the game entirely.

I mean how many times do you hear someone rant about toxic survivors and you hear "oh yeah they were tbagging, bodyblocking, multiple DS, flashlight clicking etc" - you hear that so much from people. Notice how only one of those is a perk? And how this perk always comes up when people talk avout toxic behaviour? It really says there is a problem with the perk. It's completely unfair.

That's why I suggested that DS only triggers after all gens are done.
You as a killer get 3 min + to kill your obsession. That's a counterplay option, would match with the theme of the original Lorrie scenario and would be truly on a level of NOED, Adrenaline and Remember Me.
You get high risk and high reward when you pick DS when it only triggers in the end game.

    what exactly do you mean?

You mean like a rancor effect?

If DS could only be used by one person, but in return the killer got the instadown and mori once gens were done OR once the hatch was open then yes it would be ok.

I don't actually use DS, I have far more useful perks for my survivors, DS is just a 'crutch' killers like to cry about, I mean really? just turn around and chase them again it's not that hard. (besides, chasing is fun!)

Sure nerf DS but in exchange:

    • Double the spacing between all hooks
    • Half the amount of hooks there are already

Do that ^ and we have a deal.

    It's all about compromise =D

They've already done that in the most recent patch, some maps are unplayable now with hook spawns.

  • @pemberley nailed it.

I don't mind med kits but I don't feel good with more than 2 toolboxes. Everyone feels gens go too fast so nobody wants to deal with multiple toolboxes. Doesn't help that you can't tell which they are, greyz yellow etc

A flashlight or two doesn't bug me but it depends on how the survivors look. Using a flashlight isnt a big deal but what you dont want is some toxic idiot with DS running around tbagging and clicking the flashlight as it ruins the game. Flashlight normally means toxic and thats why peoe dodge them.

Also doesnt help that swf normally bring their best items. 4 med kits normally means 4 man swf with instaheals. 4 toolboxes = 4 man genrush with BNP.
  • Haddonfield seems to indicate they aren't completely ironed out.

  • How come when a survivor is sacrificed you get X seconds to destroy the vessel? Butnwhen a survivor is sacrificed it takes Y seconds for the hatch to open?

The hatch opens after you hear the final sound of the sacrifice, I think the vessel timer should have been the same as that but for some reason tjey mafe it shorter.
  • It's understandable why they do it.

You get boosted up the ranks too fast as killer. Most aren't ready to face 2000+ hour survivors who know every loop like the back of their hand.

Plus it takes too long to grind. As survivor you can put all your points into 1 character, as killer you need to level up every single one to make them playable.

I deranked one month after reset. I had paid for every single DLC character in the game so I wanted to use them, but I sure as hell wasn't going to play a weak killer like Pig or Freddy with unrelenting level 2, surveilance (pre-buff), iron grasp and monstrous shrine against the sweaty tryhard rank 1 survivors. It wouldn't be fun for me at all. Plus I wanted to try out Nurse and Huntress who play very differently to Clown who was my main at the time.

I had a blast. It wasn't about getting easy games, it was about getting enjoyable games. I didn't bring Billy or Clown and go tryhard, I just used weak killers or killers I wasn't very good with and it was less stressful.

Beyond that the game can be stale as hell in red ranks. It's pretty much P3 Claudettes with some combination of....

    Sprint Burst/Dead Hard/balanced landing
    self-care
    decisive strike
    adrenaline
    urban evasion
    borrowed time

That's it. It's soooo boring and tryhard. Always abusing the most broken loops in the game too. It's just sweat, sweat, sweat. I tend to hold back a bit after reset just to get some fun out of the game before boosting up to the tryhard ranks. The meta is stale as hell.

  • I don't mind it I just hate how DS crutch user gets it for free. Every single time!!

Don't tell me to eat it early, that's how you get genrushed. It wastes too much time.

Its the fact that these people dont get the hatch on their own, a baby crutch gets it for them. It's also unfair to every person who never brought DS and got denied a hatch.

Oh and most importantly to STOP SANDBAGGING OTHER SURVIVORS!!!!

i can't wait for the event to be over just for that simple fact. Getting chased for 3 or 4 minutes no generators done. Getting downed and still see no one or one person working on generators. Sitting on the hook going through all the phases and nobody comes.

Yeah solo survivors are getting hurt big time by this event.

Meanwhile SWF genrushing harder than ever before because they don't compete with each other.

Solo players are definitely getting the short end of the stick here. The game has really been unejoyable since the event started.

Oh and most importantly to STOP SANDBAGGING OTHER SURVIVORS!!!!
  • Please change this event, it's garbage as survivor. I've never been sandbagged so much. It's really frustrating. Everyone is leaving each other on hooks too.
  • Just had my first 4 man Squadette in a while...

Holy ######### I've never seen the gens go so fast. They had 1 BNP but the rest didn't have toolboxes or anything.

This is why Ebony moris exist. If 4 people go in with co-ordination to rush the hell out of the gens then there it's really hard to combat that. Obviously once one finds Ruin they all know where it is. I think the game is balanced around survivors playing stealthy and exploring a bit.

I got 3 due to the mori but the last one got a free escape due to the king of all crutch perks.
  • The next big update?

Is that chapter 11? or Freddy?

It's Amanda (The Pig) in Saw 3.

    I didn't realize that.

The devs really dropped the ball on this year of the pig buff, a gun would have been one hell of a buff for her

  • Thanatophobia....but now Legion messes it all up.

With Dying Light you can bring a green Mori and early into the game apply a permanent 25% speed penalty to all actions.

It's much harder to have 4 survivors consistently injured. Well for most killers outside of Legion and Nurse. Thanat should have had the 25% bonus when all 4 survivors were injured. It would have been good for killers as it would force survivors to heal up and its like a free sloppy butcher, and survivors wouldn't have been punished by having the effect last all game as it does with dying light.
  • PS4/Xbox won't happen.

Console/PC is possible but not sure it would be a good idea for console players. Getting 360'd by someone with a mouse & keyboard and double the framerate wouldn't be a good experience.
  • 20 seconds to open the gates but 5 minutes for the survivors to actually leave if you don't mess about running from one door to another to chase them out.

I'd be fine if they kept the doors as they are but changed that.
  • It wouldn't be that bad if it wasn't for the toxic ones. If they play well and make it out good for them but then you get the toxic ones who tbag non-stop, use all the broken perks (which is on the devs, not them), and then stand at the exit gate tbagging expecting you to mess about walking around the map hitting them out. Then there is the "ez gg go take your own life" talk post game.

If it wasn't for those people I wouldn't be as bothered, but whenever 4 friends get together against a stranger they decide its funny to be as nasty as possible just to show off to each other.

That's the post I got banned for too. Because I lost my ######### and ranted on the forums about thr devs not doing anything to tackle the problem. Which is funny because these forums are much more heavily moderated than the game is, the devs twitch streams are heavily moderated, yet the game is like the wild west. It feels like toxicity is ok as long as it isn't on their doorstep?

I'm normally against censorship but I really think DBD needs it. The least the devs could do is add a word filter to the game, the forums have it so why not the game. I can not think of a reason why you would ever need to tell someone to "K*** Yourself" - I'm sure you know what that means but I'm sure its censored here, which is the point, why is it censored on here but not in game?
  • Knew it. I think it might affect an area slightly further out too?

I was getting deadzones around this boat the other day, that's when I got my "saltiest comment ever" thread after a survivor started bragging that I missed my blinks because of this.

I'm guessing whenever this map comes up survivors in the know are gonna run to it over and over again because everything in this game sadly seems to be exploited.
  • Comparing BBQ to DS.

BBQ isn't even that powerful on most killers outside of Nurse and Billy.

Lets say it activates at a close range, say 46m or so, at 4.6m/s it takes over 10 seconds to get there plus there is the large 32m terror radius warning. Plenty of time for a survivor to go immersed with urban evasion or get to a pallet/vault for defense.
  • I like how Wraith getting a hit through a window is an issue, but spinning on the spot doing a helicopter impression to dodge a hit is somehow ok.

I'd say this is balanced. Karma even.
  • .....well it's a new idea at least.
  • The question is how much of it is really SWF?

Nobody is denying that SWF have an advantage due to the co-ordination they have, however I'm sure we've all had a thousand games where the killer goes on a salty rant at the end about us being a 4 man swf even though we were playing solo.

I think they should show who was SWF at the end just so we can really see how common 3-4 man swf really is and how effective it is. Maybe some of the comments about it would decrease? Because right now it feels like people blame sll of their worst losses on swf even though that might not be the case.

Regardless, toxicity is definitely more of an issue with swf.

As survivor you depip if you get camped out.

You depip if the killer gets looped all game by someone else and then camps you out with Noed at the end.

Doube pipping is much harder as survivor. You need unhooks but that depends on how many hooks the killer can get, and you're competing with 3 other people for those hooks.

You need good chases. What if you get chased late though and all the pallets are gone? Or the killer is laggy and you take some bs hits?

I find I can just play the game as killer and do well. As survivor a safety or single pip can normally be managed but I feel you sometimes need to force yourself to play in a certain way to win. You cant just have your goal of doing gens and going out of the exit, you have to force yourself to rush unhooks befote the other survivors get them or purposefully get the killer to chase you.

"Doube pipping is much harder as survivor." If this is a point you want to make, my reduction from 14 to 13 points would help in that regard. Also, since it is actually a lot easier to not lose pips in the current system it's only a matter of time before a survivor reaches higher (lower?) ranks.

"Or the killer is laggy and you take some bs hits?" The dedicated services should help in this soon, and the onus is on the player in the lobby to understand and accept the menu ping displayed or leave to prevent such awfulness.

"... you sometimes need to force yourself to play in a certain way to win." This is my issue with high-rank killers. Being a merciless, uncaring, unforgiving, and unfun killer to the survivors will get you into Red ranks, but... at the cost of 4/5 of the player experience. Maybe even your own.

"you have to force yourself to rush unhooks befote the other survivors get them or purposefully get the killer to chase you." Actually, I avoid the killer at all costs and nearly 2 pip every game achieving a Silver in Evader (it's really "Chaser" since "Avoider" isn't actually rewarded that much) from merely getting a couple of smart unhooks, doing about 2/3 gens a match, and escaping or lasting 9 minutes. My typical match has me getting G/S,G/S,G/I,S — between 9 and 13 points (a +1 nearly every match). You don't need Evader if you do LightBringer. You don't need to worry about Unbroken if you last at least 9 minutes. Getting chased for a long time or winning (long) chases is pretty much bonus points to me and players similar to me.

Again, the only way to depip, it seems, is to be camped or left for dead by your team— forces outside of the player's skill that is an unfortunate factor in the current system. I'm really not sure how to go about negating this factor. Maybe make rewards for ranking up (as killer) so they are perhaps pressured a little to not camp, or to unhook safely, instead of a "congrats, this was your rank, now you're back here! Do it again :)"?

I'm sure one game I did 2 gens while Wraith got looped all game. He got 1 hook but I didn't get it as it was on the other side of the map to me.

So I evade and do gens, he appears around the corner as I finish the last gen and NOEDs me. Due to NOED he camps me out while the rest run around in circles near the door.

I'm pretty sure I depipped for that. My only choice would have been to force a chase earlier? But it defeats the idea of playing stealthy. I thought nit being seen doing gens and getting out was the way to win but it seems its not the best way to pip which is where the problem is.

So now I play more for pips and go for more unhooks, but everyone competes for unhooks for this reason which leads to more rushed unhooks which is an issue itself.
  • Would it actually need to be balanced to fit into DBD?
  • Clown - Enduring, Spirit Fury, Ruin, NOED + Green add ons for making the effect last longer and extra hindered penalty, or a reload add.

Spirit - Discordance, Nurse's Calling, Then I change the last two out. Sometimes Sloppy and Thanat, but mostly Enduring for DS, sometimes Ruin. For add ons I go with one for faster activation time and one for faster recharge.

Hag - Sloppy, M&A, Ruin, Nurses - add ons for faster trap set time and longer teleport distance

Wraith - BBQ, Make your choice, noed, bamboozle (dont have all the perks for him so this is what I've got). Add ons either for running speed, unclocking speed, or to change the bell sound either silent or non-directional.

Just getting into the Nurse now too. Don't have all the perks but so far...

Shadowborn, BBQ, Stridor, then experiement with the last but usually Ruin or bitter murmer. I'd like to try nurses when its level 3.

For add ons 3 blink is fun. I tried onega blink and that was fun too.

Yeah I use the OP perks these days but theres no point in not because the survivors you face will sure as hell be bringing their best stuff.
  • Guessing it's in case its actually needed. Important phone call, need to rush out etc
  • Bad jokes? Ok here's one..

    "Decisive Strike".
  • The problem is still survivors spawning near them.

It puts me at one end of the map and my totem at the other. There are 2 gens near it, one at each side. I walk over and both gens are being worked on as the survivors spawned there so needless to say it wasn't long before they cleansed it.

But these barrels and stuff....some are kinda crap, some are actually pretty good. Can't remember the map but I did have a good one the other day where you couldn't see it unless you were at the side near to the wall.
  • I think it was created to tunnel the obsession, and the obsession got perks to help with that. Both sides’obsession perks were poorly designed overall.
    Understatement of the year

Dying Light is toxic but luckily it's not too common. Decisive Strike on the other hand ruins the game.

I see on average 2 per round.

  • But how can it be justified when the survival rate is below 50%?

I'd like to see them remove DS, Adrenaline and NOED and then see what the survival rate ends up at. Don't include moris or instaheals in the results either.

  • No #########, this is why you need to stop giving a damn and just play to win.

You not playing dirty or with OP add ons/perks won't stop survivors from bring 4 DS and 4 adrenaline, tbagging at every pallet using voice comms , bodyblocking, abusing the most broken loops and generally being a pain in the ass.

Its better if they're giving out salt rather than you though. Better to be the one who wins and isnt salty, rather than the one who loses badly.
  • The biggest issue with swf is the toxicity. Being a team against a stranger, and having people to shoe off to just results in the most frustrating gameplay experience.

The bad ones ruin it for everyone else.

Like the survivors being able to disable it before it even activates?
    ...Wait.

Which saddens me to say but that's actually completely unfair. It's so easy to disable it in swf too.

How is it fair that the killers crutch perk can be stopped from happening but the survivors can't? Dribbling is situational so it doesn't count.
  • Her add ons need an entire overhaul to be honest. A lot of them are either outright useless, or an actual hindrance to your gameplay. The only two add ons I'd use are combat straps or last will. They're both really good still.

The reason I started loving Pig is that despite her add ons being mostly trash, she can still destroy survivors without any add ons. She's one of the few killers that are consistent and strong without add ons.

    Really? At red ranks?

I find her weak and I know a number of streamers I watch do too.

If you're having good win ratios with her though then good for you. I'd like to use her more as the sneaking is fun but swf ruins that and in general I find survivors tbag like mad whenever I use her becauze they perceive her to be weak.
  • Really? Do you have shattered bloodline and darkness among us?
  • Outplay a survivor at a loop

Pick them up for the hook

They hit you, you take a stun, they get to a new loop, the other survivors manage to pop the last gen in this time.

All this based on a choice made before the game even began which the killer can do nothing about.

What's not to like? Sounds like such great game design.
  • Milkymalk said:

BP offerings are just making bloodwebs cheaper by paying you back an amount when you use them. If I buy a 25% offering for 3k and max out the category, I get 2k back, so that bloodweb spot effectively only cost me 1k. The thing is, you have to buy this spot anyway. You probably shouldn't go out of your way to get a 25% offering, but a 100%-to-all offering is always worth it if you can reach it without any detours and a normal 100% or even 50% offering should influence your decision which way to go if both ways cost (almost) the same.
These are not about making a profit. They're about spending effectively less.

Of course, this stops being true if I already have so many of them that I will never use them up anyway.

Theres also the fact that everytime you use a good one you get hit with the infinite loading screen.

Why do people use it on Billy and Nurse? Easy, because they want to win. They want to ensure their victory.

I don't think anyone would argue that NOED isn't a noob perk. Kind of fitting on Billy though since he's a noob killer.

    These arguments.
Just because a perk can save your ass when you get gen rushed like a hag, doesn't mean it's for noobs.

I use it mysql, just like I use decisive strike as survivor.
TO win, it grants me an additional kill most of the time, just like decisive strike ensures my escape.
Decisive strike however is way more overpowered, because you can use it at any time and by 4 survivors in different situations.

NOEd however can completely be annulated or destroyed after it activated.
Even then you have to chase someone down.

They're both incredibly overpowered. More balanced games don't have perks this ridiculous. They drastically lower the amount of skill required to win.

Not that there'd anything wrong with taking them. I've gone back to NOED myself sometimes just because the other 4 survivors aren't going to stop taking all their meta perks and have me dealing with 4 DS and 4 Adrenaline. DS helps the survivots get to endgame and Adrenaline can really hurt the killer at the endgame.
  • @The_Crusader said:
I have to agree. Tonight has really taken the piss. I'm fed up of being shafted by Decisive Strike.

2 survivors left, 1 gen, 1 hits a DS which gives the other time to finish the last gen then they both get Adrenaline. Don't reccomend Enduring because its not so easy to get on all killers due to the grind, plus if they use it in a strong area even Enduring isn't enough.

Its amazing just how powerful this perk can be and it feels like everyone has it. Plus the devs purposefully buffed it with this new ######### hook system so their whole talk of nerfing it was one great big lie.

I thought i was the only one who noticed, I'm getting non obsession d-strikes more and more, I wonder if it had anything to do with the new hooks. I gave up playing yesterday after my first game was a 4 D-strike, adrenaline SWF. It's awful, you chase someone for 1 or 2 gens to finally get them down just for them to have a reset button to start looping all over again.

Yes the new hook system is garbage. I came back here to make a big post about it but got too lazy to do it.

Some maps aren't bad but some spawns are awful. They're so far apart now that a non-obsession DS is pretty much guarenteed on some maps. Plus its so easy to create dead zones and you can't make it to other hooks.

The new hook spawns are bad in their own but with DS it's completely ruining the game. The devs claim they want to nerf DS...but then why do they keep messing with the hooks! Why not fix DS first?

I can't risk walking far to a hook becausr DS exists. It's so stupid.
  • Pig is a weak killer and imo Huntress takes a fsir bit of practise to use because she's slow so you need to learn how to tackle loops with her specifically as she's so different to other killers.

Get some good perks. Try going with broken Billy. Get his instachainsaw add ons. He can cross the map in seconds and if you catch a survivor in the open it's an instadown. This shoulf give you enough pressure to avoid genrush.
  • I never do it. Makes no sense. Never had a killer do it to me either.

The sweet irony is all these stories on reddit about killers disconnecting so survivors can't get out with their lanterns.

I don't endorse it as it's not nice however there is some kind of karma at play here. All killers wanted for years was for survivors to leave the game once the gens are done, yet they would try to stay in as long as possible making sure the killer sees them tbag, or delaying the game for another 5 minutes because they wanted to go look for the hatch rather than using the open exit gates.

Now survivors are begging killers to just let them go straight out of the gates

The sweet irony is that during the whole event, not a single killer DCed against me, survivors however...... oh boi.

Funny now that you mention it I haven't had a killer D/C either. Most games we arent winning because solo players aren't doing gens but still, the ones we did win no d/c.

But yeah survivors seems worse than ever. I can understand the solo players who d/c because they're pissed off nobody comes to rescue them (though if they're already on hook they might as well just get sacrificed), but the sheer amount that d/c just so you cant get the hook for the lanterns is astounding. * In 9 minutes: Repair 1 gen, unhook 3 players + heal one— +1. (S,S,I,B)
    * In 9 minutes: Repair no generators, get no unhooks, but get chased for 60 seconds— -0. (-,S,B,G)

    [Bronze, Silver, etc.]

I'm convinced it is impossible to depip without getting Tombstone/pieced or Mori'd in the very beginning if you so much as try an ounce, or your team throws your rank for you and lets you hang as the first hooked player or because the killer is throwing their rank with yours and face-camps.

If they had a -2 penalty (-3 to leavers), and bump the +1 requirement to 10 Emblem points while lowering the +2 from 14 to 13, I think it'd better reflect. As follows:

    * 0-4 = -2
    * 5-7 = -1
    * 8-9 = -0 (S,S,S,S/G — what I'd consider a decently-bad game)
    * 10-12 = +1
    * 13+ = +2 (G,I,I,S — because Evader Stealth is a wonky category)

This way, game leavers/derankers will work their way back to 15 rapidly as they want (less thrown matches for people who actually want to play), bad players will derank until at-rank with bad killers, average players may slowly rank up until their killers are keeping at-rank, and good players won't find it difficult to get +2's against killers they are superior to and +1 for normal gameplay.

As killer it's so easy to 2 pip. Even having a poor game you can still safety pip. It's really hard to depip as killer.

In lower ranks ranking up is far more easy as killer, but that changes once you reach higher ranks and the game time significantly drops.

But it must be harder for BOTH sides to pip, ranking system is a joke atm

    Yeah and its an issue.

Killers rank up from low ranks too fast. This boosts lesser experienced killers against 1000+ hour survivors and then theybhave a miserable time

Survivors get camped out and lose pips which makes it a chore to get out of green ranks, which just aren't fun to play at all due to potato teammates and killers who circle the hook all game.

Plus with survivors ranking up slower you get worse queue times at high rank killer.

Lol. You killers are so toxic. You act like survivors deserve to sit in lobbies for ages, because the game is designed a certain way. Grow up. It's a game.
    Some do.

You come into my lobby with "toxic" in your name, I click on your profile and see you're part of Ochido's group then you go right back to waiting. Nobody wants to play with idiots like that.

    Have you tried playing killer?
    You get instant lobbies.

    Can you taste it ?

The sweet irony of this whole situation ? :D
