That's how killer mains wanted it. Even though killer was always easier than survivor (as the devs even admitted during their post on this) the killer mains were still spreadinf BS about how survivors have it too easy etc etc
Now survivors will take forever to reach rank 1 , they can enjoy their empty lobbies if they make it there.

No, just no!
The new system is working almost flawlessly, and it is doing exactly what it is supposed to do, put players in their proper ranks. They might need to make a very small adjustment to the emblems that increases the survivor points by no more than 1 tic, but that’s it. You only pip when you play well against someone of equal rank or higher, and you depip if you play poorly against someone of equal rank or lower. PERFECT!
What do you mean by "someone of equal rank". You mean actual rank? Or skill level?
-
She is really bad if she plays campy.
What tends to happen is they do their ritual of using 8 traps around the hook as is typical of Jag players. However they stay near enough the hook. We're talking maybe 32m roughly.
Now when you're unhooked they come running over. At this point you're screwed.
- Run away from the hook and you'll likely trigger one of her many traps completely surround the area and die.
- Crouch walk away and you move too slow and she catches up to you.
Alternatively she puts 8 traps around the hook, survivor 1 comes up, hits a trap, runs away, survivor 2 comes up, hits a trap, runs away, survivor 1 comes up, hits a trap, runs away,
Aaaaand now you're in the struggle stage.
Her camp game is too strong. When I play her I make a deliberate effort to not camp, especially basement camp. I normally lay a few traps to scare them off and slow them down but I'm usually on someone else and let the others unhook. It works well for me.
-
Agreed.
It's not impossible to go up but it's so slow. It punishes people who don't have 8 hours a day to dedicate to this.
It's no fun for killers because they go against survivors who are more experienced. It's no fun for survivors because they're playing with and against people far less experienced than them.
Or at the very least make rank reset every 2 months now. Or there was a suggestion on here about resetting rank 1s to rank 5, rank 5 to rank 10 etc. Don't reset people as far.
-
It's still amusing how some people go crazy over anything survivors have but pretend NOED is perfectly fine.
Biggest crutch in the game now that DS is gone. It's ok though, as long as the crutch is killer sided it's all good.
-
They mention the pallet bug being fixed but I'm not sure about the sound bug.

Really? I thought it was more killer oriented...
The people on reddit mass downvote anyone who is happy the old DS is gone.
They also mass downvote people for saying its wrong to disconnect so your friend can get the hatch.
Its an extremely toxic community at times....not surprising though given that it's DBD.
-
@Kagrenac said:
Devs dont care about this forum all that much because it is severely dominated by killer; which is the same case for reddit and even the discord.
Theres a lack of survivor input that doesn't get much traction because killers will rally to stop any survivor buffs.
Are you kidding???
This forum is definitely killer sided I give you that but reddit is survivor main central. Extremely toxic survivors too.

Also please remove the 2000 mile wide hitbox on Billy's chainsaw.

@Delfador said:
@The_Crusader That's the problem. They are hard tunnelers and they need enduring to affect the perk in order to continue to tunnel.
For tunnelers, nothing about DS got changed, it is actually hard buffed. It is worse for them now since they can not even avoid being hit by it.
That's why they are so against the idea that enduring should not affect DS.
Yeah I've often seen them say "if you don't tunnel, you don't win".
-
I wouldn't worry about a 4 man. Barely anybody uses DS anymore, and even before 4 mans weren't every game. Often it was 2.
Also you have control over it now. Since the ptb first came out up until now I've only been hit with it once. There waa only 2 other occassions where it could have been used on me if the survivors brought it. That's not bad for weeks of play.
You'd have to be tunneling pretty damn hard to get hit by 4 DS now.
-
@Wolf74 said:
"Tunneling" is just a social combat term to stigmatize playing efficient and remove part of the team early by using peer pressure.
Enduring is SPECIFICALLY made to counter stun effects and you want to exclude the only perk that survivor can use to stun the killer? Are you serious?
(Oh sorry, I forgot the new Head on)
Enduring was made to counter pallet stuns.
Pallet perks, aura reading perks, instadown perks...it's almost as if all these tools are made for killers to go CHASE surviviors. Not just wait near the hook ready to tunnel the hell out of one guy as soon as he's unhooked.
Tunneling is just a tactic used by people too lazy or too bad at the game to play in any other way.
-
Isn't this a good thing?
If you see an obsession in your game it means SOMEONE has DS, but not neccesarily the obsession.
This means play safe, don't tunnel any of them.
-
If you report people for it the report gets ignored.
-
@Raptorrotas said:
"The perk to weaken stuns should not work on this stun", thats how stupid this suggestion sounds.
It doesn't work on wiggle free and that's essentially the same thing.
-
Just to provide some balance to the argument, a lot of survivors are crying she's OP.
I haven't her much time to play her yet sadly. She's a weird one. It can be frustrating when you get looped since she has nothing in her base kit to help with looping. You can puke on them until they're broken but it means nothing in pallet town.
However when you get corrupt purge that's when the fun begins. It's a lot of fun to use. It's so damn powerful at times.
Also she is now the Queen of the 3 gen strat. Sorry Doctor but you just can't compete.
-
@Delfador said:
Dude I would love this perk but people can abuse it and make it absolutely hell for other survivors.
Equip perk, intentionally go down to get your points. If survivors actually used the perk normally, it would be a great addition to the game.
But you can't tell if the killer is going to camp or not.
Unless you have Wraith as killer. Then it's pretty much guarenteed ez bp 😄

They CAN win if they are playing against potatoes that make lots of mistakes.
Nah there are plenty of streamers who consistently win with them at rank 1. However these people also play DBD as a full time job. Your typical player will probably struggle.
Which is a different thing entirely. How good should a killer be? Strong enough that your average player can use them but not so strong that anyone can pick them up and 4k. There needs to be a balance of killer strength and player skill to win.
Which goes back to killers being rated easy/intermediate/hard to play.
Nurse is listed as hard. She definitelty takes practise to use but she's also incredbly strong once you put the time in. Spirit is the same.
On the other hand you have Billy. Its been controversial as to how strong he is compared to how easy he is to play.
I think there should be stronger killers that require more mastery. That makes sense. However there does need to be a balance. I'm not saying that hard killers should be OP and easy killers should remain limited in their killing potential. That balance is for the devs to find.
-
No.
I'd rather have Enduring not counter it. That 4 seconds really sucks, feels like you're punished for not running Enduring. Meanwhile Enduring against a 4 second DS is still pretty fast. If the idea is to punish tunneling then it would make sense to give all killers a flat 3 second stun regardless of Enduring.
-
You mean where the survivor gets sucked and ends up on your side of the pallet?
Because yeah I've seen that as survivor snd killer.
-
Yeah we had this discussion the other day. It seems like the rise in disconnects is due to this new bug where people just randomly get disconnected.
I'd hope its fixed soon bur since the loading screen crashes still aren't....
-
As survivor pipping is no longer about you individually. You're at the mercy of the other 4 players in the game when it comes pipping.
You need the killer to be good but not too good, and you need the survivors to be....adequate. Able to hold out a little while in a chase but not too long. Able to get some gens and unhooks but not too many.

"If they aren't "rank 1 viable" then they aren't balanced."
I agree with this entirely. Most people including the devs idea of "balanced" is mid tier unfortunately.
There is a range of balance imo. It starts with the third killer in the tier list and ends with...I dunno, maybe somewhere around 6 or 7.
Every killer can theoretically win at rank 1 but you're gonna find it easy with nurse and sweaty with Pig. Likewise for survivors, easy against the bottom tier killers but sweaty against the top.

@ScottJund said:

What does that even mean? Every killer in the game is red ranks viable. If we're talking like tournament-levels then sure you've got Nurse and maaaaybe Spirit but what does "rank 1 viable" even mean?
Read the comments I was replying too.
First post lists killers as overpowered, strong, BALANCED, weak. Then next post said the killers listed under balanced aren't viable at red ranks.
That's a contradiction imo. If a killer is "balanced" which was the word used then they should theoretically be viable at red ranks.
Now the argument I'm getting is the devs have a different idea of what balanced is so I'm not sure why OP didn't just list his idea of balanced to avoid the confusion.

Why do killers have to adapt to the play style of how a survivor wants the game to be?
but the only restrictions for survivors are not t-bagging with meta perks?
Because hard tunneling is lame.
There are 4 survivors, stop picking on one because they're easy prey when on the hook.

DS can't be buffed, that's ridiculous.
Also stop conplaining about NOED, "iTz PeRfEcTlY BlAnCeD!!1" same for moris

Because even though they are balanced they are not red rank viable. Survivors are unbalanced. A good survivor team will always beat a balanced/mid tier killer.
If they aren't "rank 1 viable" then they aren't balanced.
And honestly for people whose idea of balance is a killer who can zoom across the map in mere seconds back to back with no cooldown, and has an instadown so easy it gets used in place of his regular attack 90% of the time then I think it says more about that players skill level than it does the game.
-
Survivor - A killer who doesn't camp or tunnel
Killer - Survivors who don't tbag or aren't immersed P3 claudettes with all the meta perks
-
So you list all the killers you think are balanced yet want killers that by your own definition are unbalanced?
-
As someone who plays killer and hated old DS more than anything in the game....I can't say I disagree.
The tunnelers need to be punished harder. Especially hillbillys who zoom back to hooks to tunnel and all run Enduring anyway.

I can’t rank up on either side either and based on the survivors I get I don’t think I belong at this rank.
I'm ranking up but its so slow that I'll likely only make it somewhere in purple at best by reset. Then it starts all over again.
Sure its ok for the twitch streamers but not all of us have 8 hours a day to dedicate to it.
I feel like for every game I pip I then lose a pip in the next game when my team suicide and d/c in the first 60 seconds. Then there are those inbetween where the killer camps so you only get a black pip.
Its like...
- decent game, pip
- 0-2 hooks and hard camping, black pip or maybe if lucky pip
- 2 survivors suicide/disconnect, de-pip
- 1 hook and camping, black pip
- Crappy game but manage to do enough, pip
- Get tunneled all game, de-pip or black pip
- suicides and disconnects, de-pip
- decent game, pip
- team of potatos who all go down in the basemnt, de-pip
- suicides and disconnects, de-pip
Then you get salty and pissed off. So when your team disconnects you disconnect too because you cba doing. 2 vs 1 or a 1 vs 1 and you lose 2 pips. Theres just no motivation not to.
-
@Sinner said:
I've always said the ranking system should be about skill. Not entirely but like 80%.
What is the core aspect of this game which requires skill?
Obviously, the chase and how one performs in it.
Of course there are other things which are situational, like a higher skilled survivor can save a teammate from a hook that is being camped, without the hooked guy getting downed and so on. Or throwing pebbles, like a dev said in another thread.
Leaving those aside, it's always been about the chase.
The killers that are best at catching survivors need to face the survivors that are best at losing the killer. And so on. Only than the ranking system will do it's job.
Do you find it normal now, that a survivor can run a killer for 5 gens and depip and go against an even weaker killer? It's absurd. That survivor needs to pip and go against a better killer that he can't run for 5 gens. It's so logical. Been saying this since forever. I can't understand why they won't do it.
Your post makes perfect sense to anyone who plays the game. Absolutely shocking that its never taken into account.
-
Yeah it's garbage. I'm punished for not ranking up after reset. Now I can barely rank up at all. Potato survivors who run at the killer straight away then give up on the hook. Then others disconnect since morale is low then. I've had so many games where its 5 gens and 2 survivors or just me it's ridiculous.
Killers who camp and survivors who wait near hooks so no gens get done. Probs cus everyone needs those unhooks with the new shittastic ranking system.
Not to mention many killers cant even get hooks because they dont know how to play the game so no unhook chances. Then whey they finally get a hook 4 gens in they camp it like crazy because they know its likely the only hook they're getting.
You could persevere before through the ######### games to get to high rank and have fun games. Now however you rank up so slowly that it's not worth it. Nor surprised disconnecting has increased, whats the point in not when its going to take forever to get to the good ranks anyway? Might as well just skip the games you don't like.
Its only going to get worse next reset. Rank 15 here we come. I've already seen how bad it is down there.
Congrats devs. You ruined the game for everyone despite being told this sucked on the ptb many times. No wonder the players are dropping. Try listening to the people who actually play the game competitively.
-
@GrootDude said:
I made a thread today ‘cause I thought it was bugged and I was told “git gud m8” some have said you have to time it, but I don’t understand why it doesn’t stun when you start your rushed exit.
Probs cus they played it safe. It's obvious with this and the new DS. It's like they're trying to play it as safe as possible with survivor perks so they don't end up with another DS situation where it ends up OP and people complain non-stop.
Which makes MoM a strange idea.
-
They don't care dude.
-
@Saint_Ukraine said:
The reason, I assume, for it being an exhaustion perk is so you can't sprint burst away after stunning the killer. You could probably gain some massive distance if that were possible.
I thought this was obvious when I first heard about the perk but apparently not. Imagine using Head On in the shack then using Lithe out of the window. Or head on in the crotus penn asylum then balanced landing out of the hole in the wall.
-
Camping has been hated in pretty much every multiplayer game ever made.
It's no less cheap in DBD than it is in Call of Duty or any othee game.
-
"the survivors need x"
Lol. As a solo survivor I can tell you that for the majority of killers we don't need OP perks added.
What survivors do need is some things on the killer side taken away or adjusted. I.e NOED, iri head + infantry belt combo, instasaw etc
But no. Survivors (myself included) cried and cried for noed changes or at the very least having dull totems count towards lightbringer and notifications when dull totems are cleansed and the devs said "No, we're not doing it".
So instead they just add OP perks to the survivor side instead.
Now it becomes this "arms race" which they said they didn't want. Just like how it used to be NOED vs DS.
Nurse flying around the map with multiple blinks can be a problem yes. But for a typical Pig, Leatherface or Trapper without NOED there is no issue. Now those are the killers that are gonna ger boned with this perk. Which leads to people sticking with Nurse/Billy etc because they think it's needed.
-
@Kebek Completely agree.
New DS is a perk that works. It gives an instaheal but it has a time limit and so can be avoided. Plus who does it hit the most? Tunnelers and Nurse/Billy when they're on a rampage when hooking back to back.
This new perk, Billy who is already incredibly strong can avoid it completely since they mostly M2 everyone. Nurse isn't hurt too much because if they make it to another pallet or loop then she can just blink right through it and hit them.
Freddy/Pig/wraith/Doctor etc could easily have a lot more time added on to their chase if the survivor gets to a good area. Freddy especially, what does the aura reading give him? Nothing lol. An extra 8 metres perhaps.
But again you just 99% yourself with iron will so the aura doesn't activate, then tap heal if the killer finds you and you'll likely be on death hook then anyway.
-
I've been playing longer but have the same experience as you.
Getting to red ranks is more fun because the killers play better. Less camping & tunneling, more action.
Camping IS a legit strategy, but when that strategy becomes the goto tactic right at the start of the game for the majority of killers that's when it becomes a problem.
It's always the lesser players that do it too. I feel NOED kind of provides a safety net that lets them get away with it also. They aren't too good at chases which is understandable as they can be much harder to learn how to tackle as killer than it is to perform them as survivor.
I started watching the pros play on twitch and it made me a much better player. Now I do ok and can end chases in good time. I get that not everyone has the time or motivation to do that. I feel perhaps more tips and tutorials could be beneficial in the game.

The "survivor mains" for lack of a better term seem very excited about this perk. A number of streamers have said it's going to be very powerful.
I think it seems obvious it's going to be strong and not weak as other suggest.
Like DS it will do little on a weak survivor but be really strong on a good survivor. Again the issue is when 4 survivors take it.
-
Depends who is moderating. One is ok, the other seems very selective.
-
@Black_Fence said:

Then compare it to balanced landing. You don't take a stun as killer where players take a 75% decreased stun and they get a 3 second sprint. For MoM you will only get a max of 2 second sprint. Most killers are faster than survivors so you should be able to catch up the extra second it takes you to wipe your blade.
You do get the weapon wipe though which pretty much stops you from moving.
Just remember that this perk can be used in combination with exhaustion perks.
-
@Black_Fence said:
Maybe it is because I play LF so it won't really effect me but I still see DH as a more powerful version of it. 1 hit all game isn't likely to do much if you are a good killer. If you can't make up for a missed hit then you aren't really a great killer.
Out of curiosity, what was DS? It was just 1 more hit in the chase right?
The only benefit DH has is that it's repeated use. This is nothing like DH really. Dead Hard gives the killer the missed attack cooldown which is short, MoM gives the killer the full weapon wipe which slows them down much more. DH gives you a small dash forward, MoM gives you the full speed boost from a hit. Lastly DH can be baited or mistimed, this can not be avoided at all.
-
1) The survivor gets a speed boost, the killer gets the weapon wipe animation and slow down. It guarentees the distance to make another pallet/loop.
Like DS its power will depend on where it's used. Have they run into the open? Then not too big a deal. Have they just made it to one of the broken window loops in the game? Then congrats you just lost the chase.
2) A survivor can heal to 99%. You get no aura reading. If you do happen to find them then they tap heal. Now they have full health and the aura reading doesn't matter since you found them anyway. Combine it with iron will (meta perk) and you're set.
3) Rancor.
Generally games go like this...
Hit - hit - hook
Unhook - heal
Hit (perk active) - hit (doesn't count) - hit - hook
Unhook - heal (aura reading active)
Hit - hit - hook (sacrifice)
You can see here that in the vast majority of cases (Legion aside) the survivor will mostly be hit in chases and then hooked. This means the aura reading won't be active until they're on death hook. Unless you tunnel them specifically, this will normally be late game.
So if they're on death hook anyway then Rancor does very little for you in terms of saving time.
This raises 2 more questions...
1) Why on Earth would a survivor heal late game knowing the killer has Rancor? They're down in one hit anyway once the last gen pops. There is literally no reason to heal and give away your aura.
2) If you're using Rancor, why on earth are you tunneling down the obsession anyway? Knowing that you can A) One shot them and instakill at the endgame and B) They can tank 1 extra hit than the other survivors in a chase which is going to make that chase longer, losing you time.
Then we have the other perks. STBFL and PWYF. I am 100% confident that PWYF won't let you keep a stack but still, why on earth would you be chasing and hitting the obsession anyway if you're using PWYF or STBFL?
Now the question is what will the non-obsession versions be like?
The whole draw of the perk is the free hit, just like DS was the stun. So we have to assume that some how in some way non-obsessions will be allowed to take a free hit. Now imagine 4 of these in a game. Imagine them on a 4man swf squad with instaheals and exhaustion perks.
-
Lol imagine at the end of 55 minutes when the killer decides to dodge the lobby anyway.
-
Its a bug.
-
No.
A lot of people are struggling to pip now. Gain a pip 1 game, lose one the next when your team disconnects, lose one the next when the killer camps/tunnels, dont gain one the next when the killer can't get hooks.
The only people claiming those rewards would be the twitch streamers who spend 8 hours a day on the game because they don't have a job.
-
But the thing is killers should have more. Remember it's a 1 vs 4 game.
Survivors often want it where they can go 1-on-1 with the killer, but if all 4 survivors do that then killer becomes impossible.
People before used to bring DS, Unbreakable, Deliverance, Adrenaline and an instaheal. You can't hook them duento DS, cant slug them due to unbreakable, if you dribble them they use deliverance, and with adrenaline they would be instahealed. A solid survivor would loop all game and use these to counter the killer no matter what they did. Do that across 4 survivors and you have a problem.
Survivors should be winning by working well as a team together. Doing gens, holding out a decent amount in chases, healing each other etc distracting the killer. It shouldn't be the case where 1 survivor loops all game like it used to be with DS.
