Seems more inspired by slasher movies in general (the discount Leatherface) rather than Dead by Daylight specifically, but who knows.
Now if there was a shirtless British guy who dabbed to avoid an attack, some office guy in a collared short sleeve shirt and tie that hid in a closet, a black Canadian woman that crouches in a bush to survive, a Killer that rings a bell constantly, a Killer that was a giant Russian woman in a bunny mask, or a Killer with a grinning mask that used bear traps; then we'd be talking. /s
But as is it seems to me to just be mostly focused on the idea of the Final Girl archetype and the concept of humans enjoying seeing the pain of other humans.

Because, as you mention, of the perks Survivors have access to, SO many are either highly situational, fairly weak, or both.
Those 5 Exhaustion perks that can be triggered multiple times (Head-On, Lithe, Balanced Landing, Sprint Burst and Dead Hard) see so much use because they're both very strong and reliable. Something that isn't true for most of the 80 Survivor perks (and before you jump in random forum member, yes Killers also have a TON sucky perk options - but that doesn't matter with regards to this particular thread - perks for both sides should be improved).
If BHVR did a major overhaul of all the perks and turned every perk into something viable and fun then yes, Exhaustion inflicting add-ons could actually be BAD add-ons to bring into a game. But as of now, you will meet like 1 or 2 Survivors every 4 or 5 games that aren't using Dead Hard, Sprint Burst, or something else.
Most likely, the devs are leary of the backlash they'd get from doing something like that until they actually give Survivors more good things to bring. Kinda like what happened with the Ruin nerf. They'd been wanting to do it for a while, but it didn't happen until we had about three or four other perks to help slow generator speeds in the game for some time - I don't think that was a coincidence.
That said, I wouldn't hold my breath on them adding more Exhaustion add-ons. I don't think it's something they want, out of fear of backlash or otherwise.

I am the same, but for once I actually had a perfect game while BPS were active. I was playing Freddy with survivor pudding and the survivors brought 2 BPS and an envelope that gives 25% BP to all players (forgot the name). I ended the game with a perfect 32,000 score against all rank 1/2 survivors. I was crying tears of joy
That's it; the peak. Dead by Daylight will never get any better than that.

Based on the much earlier information provided to us by Benedict Baker, they retain skills and knowledge learned from earlier trials, but may have some missing pieces to their memories (such as how they get to a certain map or return to the campfire). A lot of survivors and killers also seem to have been somewhat aware of when the Entity claimed them.
To quote him: "Sometimes I escape and sometimes I stare the Entity in the eye and wake up at the never ending fire."
"Is it hope that drives you on? Hoping that the next time will bring your actual death, or hope that the next exit reveals a way back home. I yearn for some kind of escape. Be it death or life."
I'm pretty sure the "slate being wiped clean" is actually the Entity restoring any escaped/sacrificed survivors to a healthy state in preparation for the next Trial. The whole point is that they need to have hope that they can either finally escape (and leave) or help free others from the Entity's Limbo.
Of course, Benedict Baker's exposition has largely been replaced by The Observer with his Archives and some of the really old lore may have been ret-conned a little bit (for example, Huntress is implied to have taken down several WWI-Era German soldiers in her character info to gather her equipment, but this was changed in the Collection to be Russian soldiers. Though they can be seen wearing the German/Prussian Picklehaube helmet in her cinematic).
Huntress is implied to have taken down several WWI-Era German soldiers in her character info to gather her equipment, but this was changed in the Collection to be Russian soldiers.
She's probably killed a lot of soldiers - I wouldn't really call that a retcon.
Nothing says she couldn't kill a group of fighting Russians and Germans one day and then slaughter some others another day.

Friendly piece of advise: that kind of black/white thinking has the potential to chase many people away from you.
If you make people afraid to talk to you because of how their statement might change in the future then you'll suddenly find yourself being left out of everything. Speaking from personal experience
Rationalizing is important. There is a big difference between outright lying and making a statement that is not 100% accurate 2 years into the future
Thank you for the advice, I'm sorry that you know that first hand too.
I really do appreciate the thought, but there's a difference between a company saying something to a large group and making plans to go somewhere with a friend.
And again, I don't think this "hardcore lie" is that big of an issue. Just that it's troubling because they could have done what they said or not said anything.
-
Thanks for this, it doesn't really mean anything or do anything, but I quite enjoy looking at these statistics.
Are you gonna keep this up to 500? Or 1000?

If they don't say anything, people complain that they're not answering their questions and accuse them of dishonesty just the same. No matter what the devs do, people will accuse them of being dishonest, almost like they're arguing in bad faith and just want to "prove" that the devs are dishonest out of sheer spite.
Yea and those people look bad because they're being told "we can't say anything further at this time" and are whining that that's not the answer they wanted or complaining because they have some stupid vendetta against BHVR.
While if BHVR says one thing to make people happy and then does something else (you know, if they're ACTUALLY dishonest) because they can't really do what they said, BHVR is the one that looks bad.
But sure, any one who says something negative is the same as just whining for the sake of whining.

You are actually serious aren't you?
See this is why the devs never want to tell us anything anymore. Every statement they make gets dissected and if it doesn't turn up to be 100% accurate people just throw the lying card
I'm sorry but if you concider this lying, then you're going to meet a lot of "liars" in your life
Saying one thing and doing another is lying. It's just cosmetics: it's not that big of an issue - but that doesn't mean I have to like it.
And if something is subject to change they shouldn't say anything. It's a mistake they've made multiple times because they're an indie dev team and it does tend to get people really riled up.

It really doesn't, no, because if the devs update people with something different (because they changed their minds, as is common in any project), they'll still be accused of "lying".
This is a moot point because the devs didn't update this statement.
Also there's a difference between "something we were going to implement can't be right now due to technical issues" or "we've scrapped this idea in favor of something else" and "we're going to make more premium content than we originally said we would". Making more things exclusively premium isn't the same as the natural changes that a project undergoes during it's lifecycle.
Again this isn't the end of the world or that big of a deal, but don't you find at least a little concerning that they just didn't do what they said they would?
-
Personally I don't mind the 10% difference at all. Heck, I wouldn't care if 50% or even 100% of all cosmetics were premium only. We're not entitled to free stuff.
What irks me is that they lied.
Like, it would have cost them nothing to either be honest and stick to what they said or just not tell us that only 20% of the outfits would be premium. The fact that they just went back on what they said because it was convenient upsets me.
It's just cosmetics right now, but still - lying is lying.

I mean more geared towards their backstory that they're like that.
As for perk you can simply make perks of benefit more from you either being by yourself or have a stronger effect when others people are dead.
Technician something from Min who is already considered a lone wolf is not designed to be used with people.
No one working on the gen with you gets the effect and if you're working with someone else you often negating the effect that the killer will hear sounds or them messing up a skill check as they don't know the 50% noise prevention.
The pack is designed for you to work on gens yourself.
Another good example of a perk would sole Survivor one that gets stronger the more people around you die.
Looks like these could reinforce the survivors selfish or wicked mentality but without actively sandbagging
From a purely lore perspective, it's theoretically possible, but I don't really think they will. It'd limit their perk design and probably push most people away from the character.
Remember how upset some people got at the thought that Spirit's Dad might be a Survivor?
Even if the character isn't a cold-blooded killer, being more morally reprehensible than a guy who worked for the mob and would brutalize people probably wouldn't engender them that much hype.
As for perks, we could definitely see more that mostly only benefit you, but we have plenty of those already.
You can make an entirely selfish perk build right now if you wanted. But even of those perks most still tend to benefit the team (Left Behind and Sole Survivor being the only exceptions that come to mind - and both those perks are pretty old); if only because your continued survival (assuming you do generators and rescue people) helps your teammates.
I just don't think BHVR is going to release anything that's really in the vein of what you're looking for.
-
More settings for KYF would be great, but I wouldn't really hold my breath.
-
No, I don't think we will.
The game is based around being a 4v1, not a 1v1v1v1v1.
Even though some people will play selfishly, I don't think we'll ever see a character that fits the archetype you're looking for - certainly not in any way that translates directly to gameplay (i.e. perks designed for sandbagging).

Nea (literally a vandal), Bill (two tours in Vietnam because he enjoyed being there), and Ash (extremely selfish) don't count?
OP's asking for a malicious or evil Survivor. Someone who would actively sabotage or harm others to save themselves.
Bill fits that to a degree (according to the comics leading up to The Sacrifice DLC anyway), but I don't think Ash or Nea do. Being selfish or a vandal isn't the same as trying to get others killed.
-
On a smaller scale, sure.
Like it'd be cool if The Legion could wear a Ghostface mask, or maybe an "I <3 Ghostface" t-shirt. Or if The Nurse had a legendary outfit that made her look like a Silent Hill Nurse.
But nothing along the lines of getting Jason or Pinhead or Harry Warden or whoever, just only as a cosmetic for whoever else. That'd be a waste of the acquired license IMO.
-
My first Prestige Three characters were Huntress (my very first) and Nea (a close second).
As of now I only have Nea, Quentin, Nancy, and Yui P3 on the Survivor side.
But Heather will be joining that exclusive group; her P3 just looks too cool from what I've seen.
On Killer side I've P3'd quite a few; namely Trapper, Nurse, Shape, Huntress, Cannibal, Nightmare, Pig, Legion, and Oni.
I don't know if I'll P3 Pyramid Head or not - it depends on whether or not he gets any cool cosmetics.

No, in Silent Hill 2 he wears an apron.

Chapter 34. The Stripper.
A guy or girl strips clothes the more they hit survivors, but it's scary somehow.
You know, I bet that exists as a horror movie somewhere.
-
Of course.
Imagine if you started hooking someone, like visually putting them onto the hook, and then you get stunned because they have an bad connection to the server and wiggled free on their end.
It's the same with hit detection. Sure it's not ideal to have so many things determinant purely from the Killer's POV, but it's what they're working with for now.

Legion, Clown, and Leatherface. I would say Plague, but I wasn't exactly excited when I saw her reveal.
Legion is a very odd case because I was almost certain they were going to be BHVR's attempt at a killer disguised as survivor chapter idea finally. Not that I'm one of the people who was dying for this idea, but I thought it was interesting, and wanted to see BHVR's take. The teaser shows Frank running and hiding with David, only to suddenly trick him. It was multiple killers at once, that looked like survivors actually. I thought it might've even had something to do with a multiple personality disorder based killer, based on the first image of them. Even the name "Darkness Among Us" sounds so blatant. Something tells me they had an idea for it, but it needed more time, and they couldn't delay it, so we have the half baked killer today. I'd really like to talk to a dev someday to see if any part of my little conspiracy theory is partially true.
According to the dev stream on Legion, they were originally a Stalking Killer.
https://youtu.be/D4-E4R0oHBY?t=2265But AFAIK their main power was always the ability to vault pallets and move fast.
-
Hear me out here; DS should trigger multiple times but it shouldn't have a set timer; it should disable whenever you hook someone else while the DS-user is Healthy or Injured.
Make it less of a catch-all "save the Survivor from anything going wrong" perk and more of an actual anti-tunnel perk.
This way if you're just really good at downing Survivors you won't lose momentum just because someone can hit a skillcheck, while also doing more for Survivors than just incentivizing me to ACTUALLY tunnel you.

Basically they're skins that change your entire character.
So instead of just equipping head or outfit cosmetics, you equip a complete outfit that changes the character you're playing completely.
The only example we have so far is that Heather Mason will have an outfit that turns her into Lisa Garland.

I disagree with that, getting the bottle tosses down is practically an art form. There's tons of loops where you need to throw the bottle at the right area at the right time to actually score a hit instead of just forcing the pallet drop. Landing shots into objects above survivors is always better than landing it at their feet, and requires good aim mid-chase. Some loops you need to lob it completely up over the loop onto the other side instead of just throwing it at their feet, especially if they are about to go around an LOS blocker. There's also loops where the gas clips through the walls, allowing for very cheeky bottle hits. And all of this is in addition to needing pretty strong M1 gameplay and map knowledge to begin with.
Now, from the survivors side, going up against it is very lame I agree. But I love playing clown.
I think I may have worded my original post incorrectly.
I'm not suggesting Clown is a Killer that takes no skill to play as or that your experience as him doesn't help; I'm saying that the experience doesn't allow for you to do anything interesting or fun.
I'm sure there's skill in knowing the timing and the positioning you need to get a hit, but it's still just "I throw bottle at unmoving object, you get hit or drop pallet". There's no interactivity there besides a Survivor just making the wrong choice - IF they even get one.
Lemme explain.
As Huntress there's all kinds of things you and a Survivor can do to mess which other, and multiple outcomes to any given interaction between the two of you.
And the skill and timing of both you AND your opponent makes a real difference - a Meghead that made Rank 1 by just W'ing and slamming pallets will go down in seconds. It takes more than just holding W and pressing Spacebar to fight a Huntress - which is exactly what makes it so much fun to play as her.
For Clown (IMO at least) there's none of that. It's one bottle toss, dropped pallet, and/or M1 to the next until he wins or loses.
Nothing special happens if you hit a Survivor upside the head with a bottle, there's nothing skill based they can do to avoid getting hit - that W and Spacebar gamer will honestly probably do the best against you - and you aren't afforded any unique interactions or capabilities for getting good at Clown, besides an M1 hit that you may not have gotten otherwise.
-
It just made me really wish her Mori was her punching a Survivor's face in.
-
Clown, for both categories.
Against Clown he's nauseating to face because of his VFX when you're intoxicated. It makes me wanna puke at times.
He's also really dull. In general his power means you either trick him into gassing one loop while you head to another or you pre-throw the pallet to avoid getting hit.
He's like the M1'iest and most boring of the M1 Killers. Even Legion is better because they regularly go "WAAA UGH OOOO!" when they DS themselves, and that's pretty entertaining.
As Clown it's the same as above. Dull.
You throw projectiles in the general area of a given loop and then you break a pallet or hit a Survivor.
You can't pull off any uniquely Clown tricks, do any cheeky or clever things that an M1 Killer couldn't, or otherwise use your experience with his power to do anything cool or fun.
He's just really boring. If it weren't for his asthmatic laugh and goofy cosmetics I'd honestly never play him.
And even so my Clown games are few and far between.

I personally think she is just by the way she was in the lore, and her knowing some songs and having a daughter indicates that she had interacted with humans before, in which she may have inherited some morality.
By way of contrast though her isolation in such a remote area could suggest any number of things.
After all, she was alone, raising a child in a desolate and dangerous area. One that she herself obviously wasn't fully equipped to survive in.
To me that reeks of someone desperate - but whether to hide, to start a new life, or simply just someone with no other options we just can't know.
Anna's mom is a complete mystery.

I dunno, it'd be interesting. We could also get one of the Trapper's dad, Huntress' mum, or the Wraith's boss, Azarov. Although I can't see the Huntress' mum working since I believe she wasn't evil and was wiser than Anna. Idk, it'd be interesting for legendary skin ideas though.
She could work.
We don't know much about her really, except that, for whatever reason, she was a single mother trying to eke out a living in the Russian wilderness. There's nothing to indicate she was any nicer or wiser than her daughter turned out, and even so those traits wouldn't really keep her from being a Killer.
As a whole, I quite like the idea of lore-based Legendary Outfits. It could be cool to see.

Not his best build, but something I don't see mentioned very often/ever, Mirror Shard and Reflective Fragment.
Stalk a Survivor for one second and you'll see their aura for seven.
On maps like Yamaoka or Hawkins (where there are lots of LOS blockers) it can help you cut people off and on almost any map it can help you at high wall loops.
It'd work fine with your current perk build IMO.

Pig has a reputation for tunnelling and camping, so some people just don't like facing her because of previous bad experiences.

I don't want to jump into this in a serious manner, but any discussion of religious figures is a powder keg in a place like this, and a figure like King Arthur is not comparable, in terms of how people are going to react to what you're saying.

His existence isn't debatable. The truth of his teachings and his status as the Son of God are though.

I'm not sure what you expect. Don't know what to explain or point out on long range, 40m/s insta down spamming. Wait 7 seconds to hit someone is also just a fact and the complain is "it's no fun". Technically it is simply a drawback because you get aura reading in exchange and omega slowdown. There was no explanation "why" it is unfun to wait 7 seconds. To me this is the same situation. And "camping huntress" is one of the results of the line I began with, not the reason for the nerf wish
Alright, let me try to say this more clearly:
If you find something unfun, but don't explain why, how can you expect it to change?
Complaining that something isn't fun doesn't do anything.
I don't have fun playing Hag, other people do. There are people out there that enjoyed playing as and against Old Freddy. Some people despise certain Killers and never play them.
Fun isn't something you can change in a character or power or add-on; it's subjective. Specific values or details about something can be changed.
Staring at Survivors for 7 seconds and being unable to stop them from completing actions in your face is something that can be changed.
Similarly, how can other people on here understand your stance on something or reasonably argue with or against you?
You need specifics (like "long range, 40m/s insta down spamming" isn't fun), not generalities (Iridescent Head isn't fun).
-
Name a more iconic duo than 'someone with Dead Hard' and 'their downed body twitching on the ground Exhausted'. I'll wait.
It's latency, which isn't something they can fix. You're timing your Dead Hard right, but on the Killer's screen you're already downed, so you go down instead of using Dead Hard's iframes to not go down.
My suggestion: either use it earlier to get distance at a loop, or switch to a different perk.

With 3 instant hatches you don't even need to down the unhooked guy because u down the unhooker instantly. Is your brain working dude? The hell am I even discussing this lmao
If all three Survivors rush the hooked guy while you're actively camping, you are probably not going to be able to deny the unhook with default wind up times and throw cooldowns (unless you're just standing at the basement entrance or at the top of the Thompson House stairs). Especially if you miss a throw or the hooked Survivor's iframe hitbox absorbs a Hatchet. You'll get a down or two if you play your cards right.
If you have 5 Hatchets and three people rush the hook you can down one person before they can unhook, hit the rescuer and injure them, and still have 2 Hatchets left - as well as be able to ready and land them before the remaining Survivors can get too far away.
It's still bad for you if you miss a Hatchet or iframes eat one, but they don't get extra speed off a miss or iframes - so you should still achieve the same results more or less, just with 1 Hatchet instead of two.
More Hatchets with faster wind ups or shorter throw cooldowns are better than Instadowns for camping if you're good at Huntress; barring two specific hook locations.
If you're not, or are going to camp those specific locations, then you can play Bubba and do just as well as you would as Huntress with Iridescent Head.

Heavy dislike IS a reason to do changes. That's why Legion/Freddy/Doc got reworked and Spirit got her vaulting animation added and body collision in phase removed. Especially the reworks had nothing to do with overperformance.
This addon is an ancient one from the time where you had insta moris and insta repair BNPs. There were already enough posts how to fix the iri hatchets. And I think the two most mentioned I heard are both worth it, I would be fine with any of them: Either give it a minimum range to be deadly like on Deathslinger (depending on the min range you could even reduce the hatchet count penalty or remove it) or remove the stackable attribute from the iri heads.
Yea, but people explained what they disliked about them which resulted in the disliked things - 7 seconds to hit, passive madness gain, no counterplay to bleeding out if the Legion moonwalks, Spirit not giving that much feedback in general, etc. - being adjusted.
Saying that it's not fun to be camped by a Killer with an instant down isn't an argument against Iridescent Head Hunttess.
I, for one, am perfectly fine with Iridescent Head being nerfed, and I'm totally on board with it not exactly being fun.
But just saying something isn't fun isn't a good argument against something, especially with how subjective fun is.
The first suggestion is fine with me, but the second one just turns Iridescent Head into a meme add-on. Personally I think it should be removed entirely. Give her a cool crazy Ultra Rare that changes her power completely.

What are you talking? 3 insta down hatchets. 3 survivors trying to rescue. She just has to be patient and snack them down 1 by 1 when they try to unhook. It's basically as strong as billy or Bubba facecamping
An instant down doesn't down someone with Endurance.
5 Hatchets, you can down an unhooker and the unhooked, even if they have and use BT and even if you miss a throw.

Huntress mains are clearly just the best, most chill, and cool people in, like, the entire world. Obviously this is a purely objective observation.

Seriously though I don't really have many stereotypes.
One of my first ever games I got matched against a full Red Rank lobby (this was back in 2018). That didn't end well. I think I got one? I don't really remember.
I do remember that almost all of them tbagged when I messed up and made sure to message me telling me I suck, that I should uninstall, go kill myself, shove a stick up my *ahem*, go back to the kitchen, etc.
The one Survivor who didn't was a P3 Nea.
They didn't tbag, they didn't taunt, and after the game was over they sent me an encouraging message, because I was a Rank 18 going up against three Rank 2s and a Rank 4 and they knew it couldn't have been fun.
As I got into the game's community I learned that Nea is the poster child for toxicity and people who play her are universally douchebags.
So yea, I think that colored my perceptions somewhat; I try never to assume anything based off cosmetics or characters.

Because Claudettes are almost universally the type of teammate that ruins the solo queue experience.
I don't hate every Claudette, and I let plenty of nice Claudettes go out the Hatch or Gate if their teammates let them down; but they make up a very small number of the Claudette population. Most sandbag, tbag, and send rude messages.
I don't instabring a Mori or tunnel just because there's a Claudette, but I can understand why people do so. Even if I do think it's a little petty.
