If you can unhook survivors in tier 3, why can't you heal dying ones? I've had so many unwinnable games because I'm stuck in a chase against a slugging Doc while my whole team is down. God-for-bid they run Unbreakable. That slot is reserved for Self-Care.

I used to be okay with this because Doctor was so laughably weak that if you ended up in a last 2 alive with gens up situation it was because your team had failed - really badly.

Now that he's gotten his buff though I don't know how I feel.

I'm no Doctor Main - I'd like to see points for and against a change like this before I commit to nerfing a Killer.

  • @Fibijean said:

It wasn't changed directly, it was a side-effect of the introduction of the emblem system, which changed how the game (and therefore the achievement) defines a "Merciless Victory". They can't change the achievement because Microsoft and Sony won't let them as long as it's still technically possible. Valve will, but they prefer to keep it consistent across platforms.

The only thing to be done is to change the way the game defines a "Merciless Victory" to make it independent of the emblem system, which the devs have expressed some interest in doing in the past, but as always it's a matter of priorities, and generally balancing issues and bug fixes will take precedence over achievement changes.

The Adept trophies didn't change when they adjusted from the Victory system to the Killer system, they changed when Demise of the Faithful was released.

It probably was unintentional, but given that it remained just a 4k requirement after the Victory system was removed: it's safe to say that it isn't side effect of Merciless Victories needing a new definition - they didn't exist anymore and their old definition was simply getting a 4k anyway - not getting a double pip, as Adept achievements still triggered based purely on 4ks for quite some time.

Heck, you could depip and get Adept Killer. I did so getting Pig's Adept (all 3 other Survivors DC'ed after I Moried someone).

I would argue that thinning out the add-on economy is a net benefit, because add-ons are a big part of this game's roulette wheel. If we collectively have to deal with terminally insane red add-ons in FEWER overall matches, it creates a healthier game experience.

What insane pink add-ons are effected by this change though? BNPS and Instaheals are both less than insane (IMO) and are deleted on use anyway.

Are there any other Ultra-Rare Survivor add-ons? I mostly play Killer, but I'm pretty sure those two are the only ones.

I agree that add-ons are part of the big roulette wheel of this game; but I don't see how reducing the amount a Survivor can have improves the overall experience. You're still gonna run into people with instaheals and keys, and Survivors are still gonna run into Iridescent Head Huntresses and Instasaw Hillbillies

I dont care about moral high grounds. Whether I'm stooping to their level or not I'm not gonna deal with someone saying I have "cuck energy" for trolling a teabagger when they can barely handle a doctor.

Then you're just wasting your own time.

This is the internet, there are more people willing to mock and insult you on here than there are hours in a week: people who do it because they enjoy getting you to respond angrily.

Obviously, I can't stop you, but I'd feel remiss if I didn't suggest you just ignore them.

I've just started playing DBD again after taking a break since about November (Final Fantasy XIV took me away!). It's crazy to me to see that they still haven't addressed any of the rampant quality-of-life issues in this game, especially the ones impacting new players.

    • The tutorial still teaches nothing.
    • Perks are still an unreasonable Sisyphean climb.
    • There's been no UX overhaul of any kind.
    • They still haven't reworked major move-the-goalposts-entirely build options like moris and keys.
    • There's still no reward for seasonal rankings.
    • Matchmaking is still a hot mess.
    • There's still no compelling reason to prestige characters.
    • Still lacks even the most basic of game options in 2020 (resolution, brightness, colorblind settings, reticule for ranged attacks, etc.).

Like, what has even happened in the past six months? I see that Oni and Deathslinger were added, and Doctor was remade (and is much better now). Anecdotally, ragequit disconnects seem to be down across the board. And I guess it is slightly healthier that survivors' item add-ons do not persist upon escape without the use of a perk or offering. But other than that, it doesn't seem like anything is better.

I guess it is slightly healthier that survivors' item add-ons do not persist upon escape without the use of a perk or offering

I'd argue it actually makes the grind worse and the game less healthy as a result. Sure it happens to Killer add-ons, but that doesn't mean making it happen to Survivor add-ons is an improvement.

Ideally, both sides should be able to keep their add-ons when meeting certain requirements. That would be a step forward. But instead they're just dragging Survivors down to our level.

Also, White Wards don't protect Survivor add-ons, unlike their Killer equivalent Black Wards, they just protect the item - which can be lost anyway if the Killer uses Franklin's Demise - and why wouldn't you with all the Red Rank chuckleheads bringing Keys/Plunderer's basically every game.

  • Did you just root through somebody else's comment history because they said, in classic internet fashion, "no need to get so upset" to you?

This is like a repeat of your post, sure they're acting a bit rude, but there's no need to stoop to their level or try and one up them. Just move on.

Also, for the record, there are quite a few differences between Tier 3 Madness and tbagging.

I was just about to post that. Doesn't the forums have a ban on leaked content in these discussions. I remember when something was leaked a lot of discussions would be taken down.

Since this thread is still up I would say that either the leak is fake and the killer is someone different, or the leak is still fake but the killer is actually the alien, in that case why not leave the thread to hype people up. Anyways I doubt that these specific pictures are real.

Yeah, IIRC posting pictures of The Pig's cosmetics and The Ghost got taken down pretty quickly when that leak occurred. And those were secrets that weren't being that well kept anyway.

(It didn't help the fact that most of the DbD streamers had captured it on stream though; or stop people from sharing images through Discord)

Some people use the survivors' names to distinguish which one is the obsession when the game starts and they are running a build where the obsession is integral.

Other that pretty niche thing, no clue.

If you enter the in-match menu during the camera spin, you can see who's who that way too.

I mean, unless another Survivor is the same character as your Obsession. Then you're back to square one barring seeing lobby names.

  • No part of it passes behind the menu HUD, it's model is a bit too clear and nice compared to the rest of the picture, and the "the alien" text is of a different font and color than the rest of the menu text.

A good fake, but a fake.

Ah, yeah. I forgot about the one use. Don't think i would like walking around wounded for the rest of my life, though. Maybe i will stick with self care and do my best to avoid situations that might kill me. :)

    Fair enough.

If you're 100% sure also being unable to bleed (if it doesn't bleed, we can't kill it) and having quieter moans couldn't tempt you?

  • I second this.

But only in character stuff, not just any random thing.

  • @illusion said:

My first thought was Self Care, since you can, apparently, heal yourself from the most serious of injuries, but then decided Unbreakable would be much better because it saves you from dying. I know that it isn't as daily practical, but it could be huge if it was ever needed.

    But only once.

Take No Mither and you'd be invincible.

  • What a Chad Meg; forcing her fellow Survivors to give the Killer their power and make the game more interesting - even when it didn't benefit her.

Why can't I get more Megs like that in my Survivor games.

And then, as they reach it, I...

...walk away and let them jump out the Hatch. And tell them "GG <3, I hope y'all have a better game next time."

    -

    Spoiler Spoiler Warning ▲▼

There's enough taunting and toxicity in this game as is, no need to add to it.

  • Halloween 1, 4, same 2018 were great movies IMO.

All the others were pretty bad/not really worth owning or watching more than once.

    -

Stranger Things is pretty great, but in a different kind of way, being neither a pure horror experience (it reeks of 80s family sci-fi film - which is a good thing IMO) nor a film series.

That said, it puts significant detail and effort into every character and their interactions with each other; which is really nice to see in a genre (horror) that tends to treat people as meat (an act that also robs the horror of any, well, horror).

    -

The Nightmare on Elm Street 2011 remake sucked. The only redeeming features were Kyle Gallner's performance as Quentin (who is also one of like three main characters that isn't more or less a copy of a character from the original, and he is the ONLY one that benefits from this, being much more interesting and involved then his counterpart Glen) and Jackie Earle Haley's performance as Freddy (despite not being Robert Englund, he does a very solid job as Freddy and does well with what he has to work with, which - unfortunately - is almost nothing).

    -

The first TCM is a well designed film and a decent watch. I'm not dying to watch it again though, and I haven't heard anything good about successive films in the franchise.

    -

The first Saw was great, but IMO the series should have stopped there. It was a very interesting, tense, and twisted horror movie with clever ideas.

The second one was okay, but it didn't improve or build on the first at all. And the end twist doesn't come as a shock - we're expecting it because it is exactly what happened in the first film. There are more deaths, but the movie only suffers from that - the larger cast is more or less unlikable and expendable. Sadly, the only characters of interest are the antagonists.

I never saw (hee hee) the third film or any successive ones besides the beginning and middle of Jigsaw (which I turned off before the end because I found it boring). But from what I've heard of the series it descends even further into being gorn with 'twists' and subverted chronology - both of which only occur because that's what the first film did.

    -

I've never seen Ash vs. Evil Dead; but the first Evil Dead was okay and Bruce Campbell is great.

  • I'm not too excited for the dev stream (no offense to the devs; it's just that there's no way they can top last year's anniversary stream right now) but I'm a bit excited for Chapter 16.

Here's hoping it comes with a fun Killer that has teachables worth acquiring.

    Also Cashier Carl when BHVR?

  • Plague is obviously the most Broken Killer.

She's constantly applying that status effect to Survivors by maxing out their infection.

If she doesn't have maximum infection herself, how could she spread it? And if she has maximum infection she must be Broken.

Since she can't/won't use her Pools of Devotion to heal herself, she must always have the Broken status effect applied.

Ergo she is the most Broken.

  • Well considering that different people find different things boring, and that Survivor Mains are people with individual thoughts and opinions on things, I'd imagine they find what boring means would vary from Survivor Main to Survivor Main.

Being a Killer Main, I couldn't say for sure.

The only times I get bored when playing Survivor are when I'm slugged for a while, the Killer facecamps, or my teammates just won't do anything.

Those games are boring because my choices don't really matter. I may as well not be playing/be a bot that holds M1 and taps Spacebar/not bother playing.

However those games are generally few and far between and aren't related to any specific Killers and don't make the entire match boring (chases are always fun).

    -

As a suggestion - if you're genuinely curious and not just trying to start one if those heated vs. debates that are so popular in the DBD community - maybe you could try playing Survivor for a while.

Personally I find playing Survivor every so often helps me as Killer - giving me insight into how they play, the way they see, and what actions they might or might not take; which in turn helps me figure out how to be a step ahead of them or otherwise surprise them.

Maybe in addition to answering your question, you could similarly learn something to help out with your Killer games.

  • No Mither + Self Care + Go Prone, the new meta.

That's true 53% with botany knowledge seems kinda nuts if default heal speed is 16 seconds I believe? It could cut to something around 7,7-8 seconds. You could always add the restriction in WGLF that you can't stack it kinda? Like "We'll make it" does it can't go above 100% of heal speed so you can make it like if you have botany knowledge the extra healing from WGLF wouldn't apply but the unhooking action would or something like that. Basically you have the 33% of healing speed from Botany and 20% unhook speed on 4 stacks from WGLF.

Just make the 20% bonus only apply to Altruistic actions on other Survivors like No One Left Behind and it'd be fine.

    No 103% self-heals.

I was thinking a shared cap of 100% (so everyone will get double BP from any combination of 4 BBQ/WGLF stacks).

500% BP bonus seems... too good to be true.

Yeah, it'd probably be a bit busted, but with the current, and steadily increasing, grind I wouldn't really object to it.

Like if they brought back old WGLF - but kept the Safe Save requirement - would it really be a problem?

  • @Milord said:

You know what I actually want?

"Each time you perform a Safe Hook Rescue or take a Protection Hit for a Survivor, everyone in the trial gain a stack-able 25 % Bonus to all Bloodpoint gains up to a maximum of 50/75/100 %."

Do it to BBQ as well.

This is an insane idea and I love it.

Imagine the BPs from just four WGLF and a BBQ! Then throw in a BPS or a Pudding/Cake.

You could reach the BP cap in a game or two.

That first sentence makes sense and is a fair justification for why he's so bland.

    Also, abs are overrated.

Abs aren't overrated! The body's core muscles (which includes your abs) provide the foundation for all physical activity.

Additionally your abdominal muscles in particular serve to shield your delicate lower organs from physical harm.

Jason though, he's more or less a big walking corpse. Any sizable abs he may have had are probably mostly putrescent.

    Which leads into his appeal.

He is the origin of the archetypal impervious, ever-returning, superhuman slasher. The reason he seems boring or derivative is because his success was the impetus for those slasher films that seem so similar.

Before he was around that more or less didn't exist. F13 made it popular and kept it popular for about a decade.

It's easy to say in hindsight, "Jason's not so special", just like it is to say, "Star Wars isn't that creative", or "Dracula's just another lewd vampire story" - but that's ignoring the innovations at the time that made those stories possible.

F13 is a special franchise: one that certainly defines the golden age of the slasher movies that DBD draws so much inspiration from.

Also, for some people, the hulking, unstoppable Killer archetype is still interesting; Jason and his silent hatred, devotion to his dead mother, and proclivity for using a variety of common tools as weapons to kill mostly innocent teens (that are typically developed as characters and not just immediately thrown into a meat grinder), in particular.

Just because you don't see the appeal to the above, doesn't mean there is none.

I personally find the quasi-philosophical ramblings of Saw and the rather ludicrously violent nature of the later traps to be a bit tedious, but that doesn't stop it from having a large fan base who do appreciate those traits.

  • Trapper starts a match with all his traps.

    -

Wraith' cloak animation is now on a charged gauge, like Hillbilly's Chainsaw. By holding and releasing M2 you can now play non-licensed songs with his bell.

    -

Hillbilly can go to space again.

    -

The Nurse's power 'Spencer's Last Breath' has been exchanged with the 'Afterpiece Tonic' and she now moves at 115% ms. Stored add-ons transfer over.

    -

The Shape can stalk while in Tier 3 to enter Tier 4 Evil Within. In Tier 4 he gets a Chainsaw and becomes Undetectable.

    -

The Hag's power is no longer bugged. You're welcome.

    -

The Doctor's add-on Interview Tape now has a base range of 48 meters, instead of 24. Railgun Doctor is back.

    -

The Huntress' "Iridescent Head' add-on has been replaced with the Ultra Rare add-on 'A Frickin' Chainsaw'. This replaces her M1 with the Hillbilly's Chainsaw Sprint. Her Hatchet count is still reduced by 4.

    -

Leatherface will now always begin the trial in the basement.

    -

Freddy Krueger's block add-ons now actually have effects that make them worth using. Also the add-ons 'Swing Chains' and 'Jump Rope' had their nerfs reverted, but no longer stack.

    -

Amanda Young can now fast vault pallets and windows while Ambush Dashing.

    -

The Clown's power 'Afterpiece Tonic' has been exchanged with the Nurse's power 'Spencer's Last Breath'. The Clown now moves at 96.25% ms. Stored add-ons transfer over.

    -

The Spirit now begins the trial with all four Survivor hooked and in struggle state. If the Survivors die the Spirit double pips and gets 32k BP. The Survivors now have a tremendously increased chance of name calling the Spirit player in post-game chat.

    -

The Legion now has a gun to replace their power of 'Feral Frenzy'.

    ...

    ...

But it has no bullets and cannot be fired.

    -

The Plague can now insult tbagging Survivors in Babylonian.

    -

The Ghost Face can no longer be revealed through walls nor avoid being revealed when in clear view and within 20 meters.

    -

Survivors can now pet the Demogorgon. Causing the Demogorgon to purrr loudly and the Survivors to feel moderately better about life in general.

    -

The Oni now gains power from hitting and downing Survivors using the perk No Mither, but they do not drop any Blood Orbs passively.

    -

The Deathslinger's Terror Radius music has been replaced with the theme of The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly.

  • Did you fully charge the Hatchet?

The challenge specifies it has to be fully charged.

The Hatchet will gleam and make a sound when it's fully charged; signifying that the Hatchet will now fly faster and straighter.

This perk would just be a noob trap that almost nobody would run after the first week of release.

I still don't understand stand how any license would be an emotional milestone. I believe the milestone comes from a development standpoint. It may be a new way they went about development or a way they have changed the entirety of the game.

Stuff that the devs personally have wanted for a long time would be an emotional milestone.

Like, anything made by Stephen King (a lot of the devs are fans of his), Jason Voorhees (who has had a standing invitation since, IIRC, Michael joined the roster), or something else that they've been eyeing for a long time.

This is assuming the emotional milestone isn't just that we're having a 4 year anniversary. Which is a definite possibility.

That's pretty much it. He does everything huntress does but worse. Less snowballpotential, less chase potential, less map pressure (due to limited range).

Well he does do better in the 1v1 aspect of a chase in good hands. But Huntress is already great at that; again assuming good hands.

It's a little like Hillbilly vs. Leatherface.

Hillbilly is great at map pressure, chase, and camping. Leatherface is worse at map pressure and chase, but better at camping.

Deathslinger isn't as bad as that, but the comparison is apt IMO.

Has it every occurred to you that the artwork for the 4th anniversary for DbD is purely decorative and not ment to be taken as a teaser for the killer? They said “Iconic” killer, Its definitely not whatever you believe it is, it will most likely be one of the few you dismissed. But no one knows! They are being very tight lip with this killer besides the fact they will be licensed. The possibility for Jason is there! If you research into the lawsuit he can appear in media but you can not mention certain things from the first F13, I do not know who but I believe the next killer is in fact a part of this list

    Pennywise

    Jason

    Candyman

    Alien

and maybe Pinhead but I dount that,

I edited my original post and I stand corrected... I chose a poor choice of words by using "hostage". When the two were there... I didn't care at that point and just let the other two join them as I lost interest in that match.

    I gotcha.

I hope you get more enjoyable games in the future; free of exploiters.

  • Yes, people really hate it. Heck; most Huntresses aren't too fond of it.

    But no, it's not 'unfair'.

    Unfun probably, but not unfair.

Huntress' Lullaby gives you a head start on stealthing away from her; and she's not suddenly any more capable of hitting you with it than she is without. Additionally she can only carry a max of 3 Hatchets at a time before needing to break chase and reload or continue as a 110% M1 Killer.

Honestly, IMO the add-on isn't even her best add-on, let alone the strongest add-on ever. Instasaw Hillbilly or Spirit in capable hands with Dad Glasses can be a lot nastier, and Huntress is better off with Flower Babushka or just Infantry Belt than she is Iridescent Head.

So, suggestions where I should post this? I just played a game that caused me to get a -1 due to survivors purposely going to a certain spot on meat plant where I could not pick them up to hook. Is this a known issue? One person went there and I didn't realize it until the 2nd person was trying to heal the knocked one, so I started to chase them, but they were looping and then I realized that they wanted to get knocked to crawl to the "safe" zone. This held the game hostage and was not fun.

This spot should definitely be fixed, but it's not holding the game hostage - you even show as much by showing that they all bled out. They were just be exploit-using losers and denying you points.

    ---

As an aside: I don't understand how they could pull this off more than once, let alone four times.

Did they just run up there while fully healed and get downed AT the spot so they could crawl up while you were wiping your weapon?

Because otherwise you could just down them before they reached it/pick them up before they get there.

  • Obviously the new Killer will be called The Latency with their power to hit Survivors from across map with a regular M1.

And the Survivor will be mysterious because you'll wait and wait, but never be able to get into a game to play as them.

Seriously though, my dream/guess is Freddy Krueger.

    Ahh, the mysteries...

See, this is part of why I dislike the new push to give everything labels and little icons and fit into consistent patterns.

I big of what really drew me into DbD was how mysterious it felt.

People don't remember now, but Flashlights had NO description or tutorial back in the day besides the incredibly cryptic "Can be used to light one's way."

I still remember the first time I saw a totem. "What the heck is that!? Do I want to cleanse it?!"

This card gets thrown around a lot, but it reminded of how lost and confused you feel playing Dark Souls for the first time. Struggling to understand what some of the descriptions mean or what you're supposed to be doing.

It's natural that stuff kinda fades as a game becomes more popular and people continue to play it for a while, but it still pains me a bit to see such a push to completely remove it from the game.

    Oh well, I guess.

I only have a Sasuke build wearing women’s dress. No way I can poise through an attack that kills me with 2 hits.

Oh ho! Then dodge as much as you'd like!

    Dark Souls 3

    Why?

Because I dodge, dodge DODGE, DODGE, DODGE the lobby instantly.

Why dodge when you can just Poise through it?

    Thaaaaaat's a Mori!!!

If I see a Key I think one of two things:

If I'm Huntress - "Franklin's is a top tier perk on Huntress. Who wouldn't run it on her? Almost as good as STBFL! Or Unrelenting! It will be an amazing use of one of my four perk slots."

If I'm anyone else - "I imagine you were mine, and I'm feeling you so close, but yet so far - you hold the key to my heart!"

Friday the 13th is the slasher franchise and it's mark on not just horror, but pop culture, is undeniable.

Getting Jason and the Friday the 13th license would be the dream for Dead by Daylight. The ultimate feather in an already well-adorned cap.

Additionally, I personally would to love to see BHVR's take on Jason, as well as whomever they'd choose to be his Survivor (Tommy? Chris? Alice? Ginny? Paul? Or maybe someone who got killed in a particularly memorable way?).

All this said; I don't really see this happening until the lawsuit is settled, regardless of what other people say.

The first Alien film is a masterpiece of horror; due in no small part to H.R. Giger's insane and otherworldly designs or how it challenged pop culture views of science fiction at the time.

Getting the Alien and either the Nostromo or the Space Jockey's spaceship as a map would be incredible.

This said, I don't see how Dead by Daylight could feasibly transfer an Alien into their gameplay loop. Their sneakiness, resilience, and superhuman cunning aren't traits that I can see being easily translated into the gameplay loop of hit, down, and hook Survivors.

The best thing I could see them accomplishing would be making a sort of Alien skin for Demogorgon. Which would be as lame as getting Alien would be cool.

I've never had the privilege of playing the original Silent Hill games, they were before my time, but from I've heard they were really impressive and atmospheric.

If BHVR miraculously somehow coaxed Konami into letting them use Pyramid Head it'd be incredible - as long as he comes with some of that much lauded Silent Hill mood, and isn't just dumped unceremoniously into the game with a forgettable power and nary a thought for the source material; like *cough* Leatherface *cough* some licensed Killers.

I'm not a fan of Candyman, and I don't really see how he'd fit in Dead by Daylight in a way that respects the original character - he'd need major adjustments, like Freddy, to fit into Dead by Daylight.

Maybe if he somehow gets a cool power or awesome perks I'd get excited, but otherwise I'd be more disappointed we didn't get someone else.

As much as I love the original miniseries AND the new film adaptation (the book executed Stephen King's cool ideas terribly, fight me Stephen King stans) I would hate to see Pennywise in DbD.

It's a demigod like being in her own right: and while it's theoretically possible the Entity's Spider Goddess status would trump It's Spider Goddess status, I don't think there is any way that It could be portrayed in DbD in a way that is both faithful to the source material and interesting to play as.
