Managed to get a double down yesterday on the last 2 survivors. Downed one, only to see the other one crouched nearby with a flashlight...so just kept going forward, lol.
He’s perfect for moments like that. I remember when I got an accidental down as I chainsawed somebody near an exit gate and a survivor must have been trying to run past me and also got hit, but I didn’t even see it happen, I just heard it. Only to turn around and find a Feng lay on the floor.
-
It’s a great perk for people with a stealthy play style as it’ll help you to keep that stealthy play style even if it’s a Doctor or somebody using Infectious Fright. And since a lot of streamers are using Infectious Fright it’s becoming quite the meta perk for a killer to run.
-
I was wondering this same thing the other day. I don’t get why you wouldn’t want to take some BP over zero BP and a temporary match making ban. It just makes zero sense. But that’s people for ya. They rarely make any sense.
-
He’s obviously the best killer to use if you want to deny somebody being saved but he’s so much more than that. He’s one of my favourite killers to play as and against. His ability to down several survivors is so satisfying when you pull it off.

If the survivor puts up a good chase and wasn't a first class plum about it (tea-baggery, pointing, flashlight clicking), there shouldn't really be any ill feeling from killer. There shouldn't be.
But if a survivor knows all the loops and there are gens popping all over the map as the killer frantically gives chase, then it could get messy.
Regardless of the killer being the one who chose to continue chasing that survivor, they'll still look at it as 'this is the person who ruined my game'.
I think that’s exactly what it was, which is dumb in itself as I wasn’t trying to make them chase me. I don’t do that annoying flashlight click or teabag etc. I just run and loop when I’m being chased which is what you’re supposed to do...
I think they were just mad that they couldn’t down me fast enough but how is that my fault? I wish I recorded the match as if you saw it from my perspective you’d understand. I’m not the type of player who thinks they’re the best and I’m definitely not a cocky or arrogant person in OR out of games but I’m not blind either. He could have downed either one of the Claudette’s and still had somebody on the second stage of their hook, but he purposely came straight to me, ignoring them. So if that doesn’t reek of salt I don’t know what does. He didn’t come after the weak player, he walked through the ‘weak’ players to target the guy who ran him around the map for 3 gens.
I completely understand that both tunnelling and camping are viable strategies at times. Heck, I even had a Michael message me the other day apologising for face camping me, but I told him I completely understood why he did it. As it was EGC and he didn’t have any kills yet. As I’ve said numerous times, I play killer too. I know a lot of survivors simply whine because they’ve been outplayed or haven’t been able to bully the killer etc. I’m not like that. I just find it odd that some people choose to deliberately single out people for not being a complete potato. I’ve played this game for almost 4 years now. I pretty much know the ins and outs of it. My original post wasn’t for me to be crying and complaining. I was simply stating that I understand why a lot of people feel forced to run certain perks with the way some people act.

I never said that you'd never get caught. Nice strawman.
Also, the killer doesn't control any part of the situation when it comes to unhooking. (Except a facecamping Bubba, I guess) If your team is unhooking you in the killers face without all the proper defense, that's the survivors fault. If you can't move away and hide without getting tracked easily after an unhook, that's the survivors fault.
You sure as hell aren't being "tunneled" for "being too good". That's for sure.
Stop blaming killers for killing.
Claudette got found and downed in under 30 seconds. Wasn’t tunnelled even though she was unhooked next to the killer. The second Claudette was downed very fast and again wasn’t tunnelled. I get chased for 3 gens and hooked. As soon as I am unhooked Freddy teleports to the gen next to me, pushes through not one but TWO injured survivors to come straight for me. Downs me as I’m stuck in a place with zero loops and then I’m picked straight back up and hooked. He was deliberately targeting me and it wasn’t because I was the weakest because I was clearly playing stronger than the previous survivors he downed. He was salty because I wasn’t easy to catch. I’m not some biased survivor main, I play both sides and I can tell there was intent behind his actions. Why would you let two INJURED people just walk straight through you? He wanted me and me only. The fact other players messaged me and said the same says it all. His intentions were clear. At this point you can think what you want. You weren’t in the match. I was tunnelled for being good at chases. End of.

^ this.
I had exactly one game recently where I did not use DS - when I tried the Dwight-Challenge of Level 3. Against Freddy. He was in a chase, I got unhooked, he came back via Teleport, tunneled me. No unsafe Unhook, nothing.
This was one "Never again without DS"-moment for me.
It always seems to be Freddy’s that do it the most. I’m still not using DS in my matches I’m playing with my friend as I don’t want to feel forced to use it. I just understand why a lot of people do use it. I try to make the game as fun as I can, regardless of whether I’m playing survivor or killer. But not everybody looks at things that way. Just like I said earlier in the thread, it’s the risk you take by playing with real people.

I didn’t try anything with you. I was just saying that there is not one reason why killers tunnel. One tunnels because you are hard to catch, the other because you are easy to catch. You can’t change your playstyle to not get tunneled (I was referring to you „play purposely bad“ part).
but then again, if you were so good, were was even the problem? You wasted time of the killer, others could do gens, you even get points for lightbringer-Emblem for distraction. Also most killers are slugging for the DS timeframe anyway.
Sorry, I didn’t mean to come off so passive aggressive. I misread your reply as I was distracted when I was doing so and I thought you were doing the typical “git gud scrub’ response that far too many people overuse.
But, I definitely see your point. It’s just stupid that you’ll be targeted for being a strong player. You shouldn’t have to dumb down your play style so you don’t hurt the killers feelings. I guess it’s just one of the downsides of playing with real people.
-
@Rivyn said:
I can argue the opposite. It's not the killers fault, it's the survivors who unhooked. If the killer is close enough to even catch you straight off the hook, than the blame should be placed on the survivor who did the rescuing, especially without BT. They basically farmed you for points. Can you really blame the killer if you're pulled off hook in their face, and the rescuer doesn't at least take a protection hit, instead sprinting to the nearest pallet?
Now, I'm not saying hardcore tunneling doesn't exist, and is a pretty unfair playstyle around it. I understand in a lot of cases killers will tunnel, simply for the sake of doing it. But on the other hand, I feel at least part of the blame comes down to survivors not knowing when or how to safely rescue somebody.
I understand what you’re saying but you weren’t in my games. The killers were walking past other injured survivors just to target me because I was hard to catch and they weren’t. It’s happened to me plenty of times before which is one of the reasons I switched to playing killer. I was getting sick of killers who can’t handle being outplayed and spit out their dummy. It’s ridiculous. I even had a random Claudette message me after one of the games saying and I quote “that killer had a boner for you” as she even tried to take a hit for me at one point when she was injured and the Freddy just walked around her.

To be fair: You're using a perk(Aftercare) whose sole counter is hooking the person using it.
That's completely irrelevant. The killer has no way of knowing if you’re running that perk.

Nope, if you play (purposely) bad the killer will tunnel you because you are the weakest link and one out means easier pressure and you should git gud.
notice a pattern? Yeah most killers will just tunnel the first one hooked.
I wasn’t the first one hooked. And I’m definitely not the weakest link so don’t even try that with me. They tunnelled me because I was hard for them to catch. Both the Claudette’s in my Freddy game went down almost within seconds of being injured first. Were they tunnelled? Nope. I am chased for 3 gens and then the killer deliberately walks through other injured teammates just to down me again at the hook. It was because they were salty. It’s stupid to punish somebody for being a good player.

I feel the same way. I got tired of using DS, DH, BT, and some other meta perk, and I try to use other fun builds instead, but then I just get tunneled and/or camped.
The ironic thing about it is, the other survivors who don’t get tunnelled are the ones using DH, DS and other exhaustion perks. But there’s me and Jeff using stuff like Aftercare and Pharmacy and we’re targeted for being hard to catch. Am I supposed to just purposely play bad so the killers show mercy? Haha.
-
Are you on console? As I recently had the same thing happen to me when I was playing as Jake. It was so weird.

Sleep deprivation ages anyone drastically.
In no point in the movie does Quentin look like he does in the game and that’s a fact. He should look like the character he’s based off. Does he look tired? Yes. Does he look like he’s in his 40s? Hell no. Cheryl Mason is a great example as she looks tired and warn down but also still youthful. There’s a balance to be found.
-
I had a match like this recently as Ghostface. The entire team kept rushing together to get the unhook which ended up with them all being downed and hooked with zero gens being completed. It was boring. I could tell they were a SWF by the way they played, I just didn’t see any logic in what they were doing. They literally gave me easy downs and hooks. They’d also keep sitting right next to the hook they just got saved from using self-care. I use PGTW and didn’t have any chance to patrol gens because every time I hooked somebody they would be insta-saved right in front of me. So I’d just down and slug. It was honestly such a strange match. They were all red ranks too. Some were doing the typical Breakout and Saboteur build, but it didn’t work when I had 2 hooks next to each other. Better luck next time I guess.

What about killers using lery's, gideon or hawkings?
I'll use the maps I like, I don't tell killers if they have to slug, camp or tunnel, and insulting people in the forums just lets the rest see how this community is made. Congrats.
I agree with this. BOTH sides use maps they think will give them the upper hand. I’m not even going to lie, if I’m playing Legion, I’ll put an offering on for a smaller map as it’s easier to get frenzy chain hits. I don’t see the issue with it. Map offerings are there for a reason.

Bruh. It is the maks that changes all Legion’s animations to the ones Julie have. And yes since the main income of this game probably comes from cosmetics purchases fix them ASAP. New Meg skin still missing a piece and you can see through her model after 2 weeks.
I know it’s the mask. I’ve already posted about it as I found it funny. It’s not something I need changing as it made me laugh. The Meg cosmetic is tragic though. I love the pants but won’t wear that broken top.
-
I love Haddonfield. But, it’s because I love Halloween. So I just find that map visually pleasing. I also find Mount Ormond to be a strong map for me when I play Michael, I rarely lose on that one. The maps I struggle with the most and actually detest going to are the ones with all the corn fields. It’s just ridiculous how hidden survivors can be. Especially the ones running Urban and Spine Chill. Unless you’re playing as Doctor, they won’t be found.
-
They seem strong on paper but sometimes by the time you get them to work all the gens are complete. You can potentially get 4 kills from them, but you won’t get a lot of BP. I never use them. Waste of time. They just feel like meme add-ons. I rarely see anybody else using them either and if they are, they don’t get them to activate as we’ve all escaped before that moment happens.
-
Out of all the things that need fixing you choose this? Leave Frank and Joey alone. They know that sweater looks super cute on them and they’re feeling it.

Unfortunately on the last Q&A someone asked about this and Mcote said it's a difficult process that has a lot of parties involved so no news on it.
As someone who mains Quentin I can't wait for a rework asap.
When he’s P3, he definitely looks a lot better. And he’s one of my favourite survivors to play as, he just looks nothing like Quentin which is what bothers me the most. I also find it odd that the new Laurie hair was a cosmetic, that should have been reworked into her base kit. As her P3 hair looks like straw.
-
I don’t know why people are so obsessed with rank when it means nothing. I’m actually shocked when I realise the rank 19s I’ve been paired with are actually rank 1-4. It’s unreal the amount of people that don’t know the absolute basics of this game who have managed to crawl their way up to the top. Just further proof that ranking up as a survivor is too easy.
-
One of my current favourite builds is Iron Will, Wake Up, Resilience and Spine Chill. This is such a great build that I’ve never seen anybody else use. If you’re injured and opening the exit gate, you’ll do it 24% faster. This has really helped me escape a lot during the EGC. I feel like I get paired with teammates who just die really fast so I needed something to at least let me escape.
I’m playing as Jeff a lot at the moment and on him i’m using Distortion, Aftercare, Spine Chill and Pharmacy. I try to stay away from DS, BT, Unbreakable and Dead Hard. They just feel like new starter perks to me.
-
I play Michael a lot with M&A and it's nice knowing that I'm probably making a lot of people jump. Those are the most fun games to be a survivor in, so I like knowing I'm the cause of it.

Your team can work as distractions, keeping you alive.
There are already plenty of incentives to unhook, from BP to just the mechanical advantage of having more survivors alive and on generators. If people don't want to unhook despite all the advantages they get, nothing can fix that. If you reverted the hatch change, they'd help until the second gen, then leave you to die just the same.
I suppose you’re right about that last part. I didn’t really think about it like that. I guess with a game like this, the unpredictability is part of the charm.
-
I definitely do feel your pain, but this will only make you a stronger killer in the long run. I used to hate going against SWF, now I love it. Because it really tests your skills against a team that has a huge advantage over you. This will also make you playing against a team of randoms feel like a walk in the park.
One thing that helped me a lot was experimenting with different killers and builds as you’ll find ones that give you the upper hand. In general a team of SWF tend to be overly altruistic. You can use this to your advantage.
I know it can be stressful playing killer, but just don’t give up. I’d also recommend watching people play killer on YouTube etc as you can pick up some really great tips and perk combos.
-
@Orion said:
I think there are more than enough incentives. The issue is people's mindsets.
I hear what you’re saying. The reason I said there’s no incentive is because of the hatch spawning in regardless of how many generators are completed. So if you have a key, you don’t need your team alive.
When I was playing this game in 2017, I remember it feeling a lot more pressured (in a good way) when a killer was dominating as you really wanted to *at least* get the required amount of generators fixed so you could get a potential hatch escape. That’s entirely gone now as it simply doesn’t matter. It just strikes me as odd that if you lose as a killer you lose. But if you lose as a survivor you can still win.
-
@Hag.is.Dtier said:
This game needs a proper timer for matches to end.
I agree completely. I just don’t get why any survivor would want to hide for so long. It’s boring for both parties involved. When I’m in that same situation, I just attempt to fix the generator and if I die. I die. Onto the next one.
-
Corrupt Intervention shouldn’t have been a perk, it should have just been implemented into the game. It’s not overpowered as gens can and will still get done. It just gives the killer more time to set up certain scenarios as there’s less gens for the survivors to fix.
-
@ZerLukas said:
You can use Whispers for these situations but for the most part if more than one survivor is simply hiding and doing nothing they will be difficult to find.
I don’t really want to use that perk as I’ve already got the right build for me. It’s just ridiculous that they don’t receive a penalty. It should count as holding the game hostage as I can’t get out until they’ve been found and that’s easier said than done when a Claudette on that map is basically a cloaked Wraith. 😂
-
Thanatophobia + Sloppy Butcher are used often on him as it’ll slow down the progression of gens and also take survivors a while to heal. These perks also go well with A Nurse’s Calling to catch healing survivors off guard and Pop Goes the Weasel to delay the completion of gens as much as possible.
-
I’ve escaped through the gate plenty of times during EGC? It isn’t an impossible thing to do. Survivors have it easy. The fact I was able to get 30K as a survivor without any perks is very telling. Survivor has never been and probably never will be difficult. The only thing I struggle with is having useless teammates who don’t understand the basic game mechanics.
-
The only thing I’m hoping for are some buffs to his perks as some of the cool downs are ridiculous. His actual power is great as it is. We need more killers to actually feel like a threat. It’s extremely tiring going against body blocking trolls almost every other game. Now let’s see SWF rely on skill for once.
-
I haven’t been this excited since the Halloween chapter came out. Silent Hill has been in my life for such a long time. I was pretty much raised on it as my brother used to play it a lot when I was younger. Which then manifested into me playing the games and also watching the movies. A few weeks back I joked with my friend about Pyramid Head coming to the game because I noticed that the 4 in the anniversary logo looked just like his head. Didn’t realise this was actually going to come to fruition. I am so pumped to play as and against him. Judging from the PTB he is terrifying in the best way possible.
-
I can’t wait to wear both of these. Congratulations to both of the winners.
-
A Legion build I use and do really well with is...
Discordance: This helps you utilise Legions power more. As you can find a group of survivors easier. It’s rare for every survivor to split up and work on different gens, so this can create some great momentum right off the bat.
Pop Goes the Weasel: This is a great perk on every killer and one I’ll never stop using. But it’s especially effective on slower killers like Legion. It can really help you stop gens from being completed and if the survivors 3-gen they are screwed. As we all know there’s no hiding from Legion.
Thanatophobia: This perk works whist using Frenzy so it can be great on Legion. It gives you another way of slowing down gen and healing progression and gives the survivors an actual incentive to heal. It also has great synergy with Discordance as you’ll find groups of survivors easier and get more stacks.
A Nurse’s Calling: As more survivors will be healing and taking longer to do so. This perk will give you the opportunity to get some surprise downs. I can’t even list how many times I’ve been able to down a survivor because they’re sat inside of a bush healing. The fact that Legion has a pretty small terror radius also allows you to get close enough to close the gap if they try to run.
Lastly, I would just recommend trying out different play styles. As everybody says something different. The perks I listed above are just what I find most effective when I play. I sometimes switch out Thanatophobia for Monitor & Abuse as this helps with sneaking up on survivors more and being able to down them without having to use Frenzy.

I’m extremely lucky that I don’t have any triggers. As a lot of the things people have wished upon me and my family have actually happened to me and my family. So I’m just grateful I’m able to brush it off. I just don’t understand what drives people to be such dicks.

The survivors are too 'random' and not really iconic enough to have a place in DBD and which of the 100 possible killers would you chose? The Merman? And with Bloodlodge and Mothers Dwelling we already have two cabins. If we go for a REAL iconic cabin, I would say, let's add a map for Ash
They’re not really random. Considering they represent horror archetypes. I’m not sure what killer I would choose. The Werewolf would probably work the best, in terms of gameplay and design. But there’s also Fornicus and The Buckners.
I know we already have maps with cabins on, but they’re not the same. I mean an actual cabin in the woods. None of our current maps look like actual woods.
Anyway, I doubt this will ever come to fruition. It’s just a dream. As I would love to be able to play as Dana. 😂

most of the times in this game you either lose because your teammates were trash, because game unbalance or because bugs. Since there are so many instances where you are not directly responsible for your loss, people tend to get angry very easily and throw that anger back at everyone.
But let’s be completely real here, none of the reasons you listed warrant people being told to get cancer or kill theirselves. It’s legit insane behaviour. I’ve said it time and time again. If a game gets you this angry and hateful. Stop playing. If you’re not mentally stable enough to handle losing, the problem is with you. I’ve encountered plenty of bugs and BS on this game and plenty of other games. You just suck it up and move on.

I agree with that. However, it would be nice to actually get a real chapter. With survivors, a killer and a Cabin map. They could do some really fun stuff with this.

Don’t worry, I do report it.
By ignore, I meant I ignore the person who sent the hateful message. Meaning, I simply don’t reply. I always report.

Buffy Summers would be a great addition to the roster of survivors. I wouldn’t even mind having her as a stand-alone chapter. I just need the buffster. A Supernatural chapter would also be awesome. As Sam and Dean totally fit the lore of this game. Lastly, I would kill to see a Cabin in the Woods chapter. And I know this game drew inspiration from it. So it would feel like a great full circle moment.

I only started playing in 2017. I think because I play on PS4, it still hadn’t developed a big player base back then. As I recall bumping into the same survivors a lot. Now, that rarely happens. So I know more players = more toxicity. I just don’t understand why it’s THIS GAME over others? What’s so different about FT13? It’s still the same concept. Survive or be killed.

I have no idea, but I would love more flexibility with what we can and can’t customise. I really want to be able to change the colour of my perks etc. It’s not like that has any affect on how a game will or won’t go. So I’m hoping it eventually gets implemented.
