Fair. Do you actually see people doing this though? 4m is not very far. I'll often see people drawing trails around the hook, just not right next to it.
Almost every PH I’m matched with seems compelled to lay trails in exactly the spots they’ll immediately disappear, particularly the basement. Like, they seem to not realise that everything they just laid down there and all up those stairs is immediately disappearing.

Oh yeah.

He seems to be extremely popular on the Australian servers.

Sometimes it is a fair play. Like, let's stay you have two survivors dead, one hooked (second hook), and one somewhere unknown. You might lay trails around and proxy camp the hook so that even if the last survivor crouches in for the save, they're probably going to get tormented on the way out. That means if you re-down the person on the hook you don't need to worry about DS. Hell, if you want to you can probably mori them and get back on the other survivor's trail before the scratch marks disappear.
Agreed that it's usually not that smart, though. If the survivors are winning you're just straight up wasting your time.
I’m talking about immediately around the hook.
Which means they disappear straight away.

I didn't think of mixing solidarity with autodidact. I might have to try that now.
I’m CONSTANTLY experimenting with perk combos.
There’s a lot of cool clever builds. And sometimes an experiment may not result in a cool new build, but it helps me understand one particular perk better, or see an obscure advantage I never saw previously.
-

My favourite part is when I see them breaking pallets, thanks to your tip I never do and it wins me so many games lol. Even better when they try and lay trails at doors or gens too.
I know right. Just as LOL worthy when they’re trying to “protect” a gen laying a trail around it.
Stupid...

I know everyone hates this dirty word: Stealth.
Like Clown, you’re meant to be highly screwed if you’re in a chase against Deathslinger. I.e. The odds are MEANT to be oppressively stacked against you.
So the goal is to not get into a chase in the first place.
- err on the side of caution
- choose gens carefully. Rather than be on gens (and the side) that blocks you from view, be where you have the most clear LoS so that you can leg it and hide the moment you spot him.
- Be mindful of your environmental cues you give off.

Why autodidact in that build though?
You heal so fast that you probably get barely any skill checks.
It’s just nice in the event of skill checks popping up it pretty much instantly heals the remainder.
I like the idea of a “SUPER MEDIC”

@EvilJoshy said:
The issue with solidarity is you need to be injured. Id rather have autodidact. It's annoying to get stacks but when you do it's amazing. My favorite team healing perk is We'll Make It but you need to unhook someone for that to work. Might not have it when someone is slugging.
I actually tend to use Autodidact with Solidarity whenever I use it.
So in my example my full build was Autodidact, Desperate Measures, Solidarity, WGLF. I was able to very quickly assist anyone injured, slugged, or on a hook, and by simply helping (if I was also injured) i’d either end up healed without spending any additional time doing so, or whomever I was with and just helped spent next to no time “topping me up”

Solidarity is way too situational.
Being injured isn’t rare though.
Being in the company of other injured or slugged survivors isn’t rare either.
Situational. But still common.
-
@[Deleted User] said:
Solidarity is such a bad perk imo, not even worth a slot. I'd rather take Botany or Self-care + medkit.
How is a perk that saves time, bad?
-
@Blueberry said:
Haven't tried this combo yet, will do.
To be honest though, new WGLF even by itself is hella good. Even if you removed the BP component I'd still keep running it. I've been getting lots of value out of it. One person running it and the killer basically can't slug all game, that's huge.
Obviously paired with Solidarity it becomes situational, but not so niche that being injured while still needing to assist anyone is entirely rare.
I’ve had instances where (also using Desperate Measures) I’ve been able to revive a partly recovered slug, it was safe to continue healing them at the same spot, and then they only had to heal me for 2 seconds to finish healing me.
It can be a HUGE time saver.

I have a hard time believing anyone who mains doc would even have this cross their mind.
If you use SB and the person never quits running. They can get very far away from where the indictor was in not that much time. If there was no scratchmarks lets be real Doctor wouldn't have an actual power. His power doesn't so much reveal their location as much as it gives them heavy incentive to reveal it FOR you by running off. I've encountered plenty survivors who new how to vanish after I picked them up on SB or the illusionary doctors.
Static Blast would be pointless. Sure he could use Shock Therapy in loops still which is barely a plus against strong positioned survivors if you ask me. This would make the drop the pallet early strat the main go to and RIP Doc anytime he decides to break the pallet and someone runs off making it impossible to track them.
I would go as far as to say Doctor becomes the WORST killer in the game if this happend.
To be clear, I’m not suggesting I’m in support of no scratch marks. It was just a question that popped into my head, and thought it was good food for thought for the forums.

Playstyles like that just annoy me altogether. Typically if your setting up a build not so you can assist your team or yourself with the ultimate goal being to do the objectives but rather for the ultimate goal to annoy the ######### out of someone... just no. You get people who had no intention whatsoever of TOUCHING a gen and just because you ultimately "win" means the last 20 minutes of annoyance should be overlooked.
It genuinely was a frustrating miserable experience. Only possible with extreme levels of coordination (I’m not ratting on SWF, just saying this was only possible with SWF).
Same as a 4 man Head On team. Until it’s experienced first hand, no one will fathom just how frustrating it is having every single chase interrupted. Every. Single. Chase.

Feel like that at least has SOME counter since you could fake picking a person up, then turn around and smack whoever tries for the flashlight save, and facing a wall or something is still an option. In this locker video... the only option was just hitting spacebar until the battery finally died and you can now play the game.
Sorry my mistake. They also all had tenacity instead of either streetwise or built to last.
And yeah, I was trying to bait saves to smack whoever attempted a flashlight save, but of course whoever was downed quickly disappeared on me due to no blood and reduced grunting.
I should also add that this was on Rotten Fields. So few walls to look at, and they could crawl anywhere in the corn.

Alot of times Ill read posts ike these so I can get a good laugh, although sometimes I do learn something where someone has a point. Im not one who typically has any gripes with flashlights for example, but this video showcasing how 2 flashlights made this duo basicly invincible as long as they had battery power left and could time it right... I could definitely understand some complaints about something like this if someone brought it up. One killer had to force the guy to burn up the entire battery after like 10 saves before being allowed to even START a chase with the guy.
This makes me think of one extremely awful, TRULY AWFUL match I went against 4 man squad all with the same load out, and it’s the ONLY time I had an extreme problem with (of all perks) No Mither.
No Mither, DS, Tenacity, and either Street Wise or Built To Last, Purple Flashlights.... times FOUR!!!
My only mistake was not equipping Lightborn in the lobby because I thought “meh, I’ll just slug because I’ll always know someone attempting a flashlight save will be nearby”
It was a futile, hopeless match, and one of the most unfun things I’ve ever dealt with in this game.

I feel that there is another not widely known problem with DS that no one is talking about. Its the fact that DS is not a good anti tunnel perk. This is a problem because any suggestions that a person makes to change DS into an anti tunnel perk falls flat when you realize it doesn't do its job well.
The fact that a person has DS isn't a good deterrence for killers to tunnel. When its used on the killer they can still tunnel the person afterwards especially if there is nothing to stop them from doing so. A 5 second stun for the most isn't enough time for the survivor to get away before they are back on their trail to kill them. With this problem any attempt to make it more of a anti tunnel perk will fail until this issue is also addressed and resolved.
It’s not a lesser known problem at all.
If anything, like myself, most experienced killers will want to remove DS from every survivor as early in the trial as possible, which subsequently cannot be done without tunnelling.
Ironically, when there is no Obsession I relax more and DON’T tunnel.
It’s a conundrum because I know many killers will instead ruthlessly tunnel when there is no Obsession, even though it’s completely unnecessary to win.

While I dont agree at all with OP's idea with Doc and scratchmarks... Tying in game balance with killer's lore is abit dumb. If we're using that thought process, Myers would have to stalk Laurie for basicly an entire day before so much as approaching her. Dont get me started on why survivors lose the ability to stay awake for longer than a minute when the killer is a Freddy, lol. Nancy was chugging coffee and staying awake for DAYS in "Nightmare on elm street", but our cast of survivors somehow fall asleep while running every minute.
I suppose when the match starts the survivors are already under the effects of extreme sleep deprivation?...

Don't understand how it is reportable when it is allowed so loosely in the game, if I were survivor I would shrug it off and be more confused than anything. If the killer is not hooking you it definitely is different but it shouldn't be reportable, it just sounds like a bunch of whining and sore losers if you ask me.
Well according to the game rules it is a type of griefing
-
@Kaitlin814 said:
Just played a match where the killer was not hooking survivors when there were available hooks. He would pick up the survivor and take them to a corner of the map (farm) and would have them wiggle out in the corner where there were no pallets, windows, etc., and he would be able to down them within seconds of wiggling out. And he repeated this process probably 20+ between 4 different survivors.
In the post game lobby, I just said "I hope you're proud of yourself" and "now I understand why so many people hate this community". His reasoning for doing it was 2 of us had DS. He proceeded to say how it's sad that we can't win without having to use perks like DS. (Mind you, he was using ruin, undying, thanataphobia, and BBQ - LOL).
Part of my rant is, it really bothers me that people who play like this never get any consequences, but someone will get banned for saying something stupid in post game chat.
What the killer did is considered griefing and can be reported.

Thanks for that insight. Solid advice. Though that'll probably land me on their sh-t list for slugging or camping but hey that'll happen no matter what, right? 😝
Correct. Unless you’re slugging and then just staring at them on the floor for no good reason, then slugging isn’t against the rules.
Many killers refuse to acknowledge that it’s actually a very necessary pressure tactic against higher ranks.
Do whatever it takes to keep Survivors occupied or incapacitated, and off of gens.

Lol I mean it's just a game why would u even play dbd if u get offended by hand gesture?
The reverse can be asked. If you’re not intending to get a reaction from the killer by doing these gestures, then why do it?

Thank you for the reassurance I'm not crazy, and the supportive words. The thing is I expect a higher level of play at higher ranks, obviously. I just don't play this game to be the target of a 4- person psyop designed to break my soul.
Again, not angry. Despondent.
If it’s any consolation, although most top tier SWF teams are bloody hard work, they’re usually also the most predictable survivors to go against, and that CAN be used against them.
Observe and take note of recurring behaviours across suspected SWF. For example: when I highly suspect SWF I usually slug more aggressively because there is almost ALWAYS a team mate that can be found close by either waiting for a flashlight save, or to follow me to a hook.

Everyone will have an opinion. I appreciate you sharing yours.
No perk is REALLY better than another. What good is Deliverance if you’re 1st hooked? What good is DS if you never have the option to use it? Many perks are high-risk, high-reward.
All that really matters is how you use them. You can use perks that help your weaknesses in gameplay, or perks that make your strengths stronger.
And can we please stop with the “change my mind” threads? It’s not anyone’s task but your own to choose what you believe.
Applause.

Judging by the colossal meme that was this patch's Perk changes and the ongoing addition of new god loops and infinites via breakable walls, the only thing that stops me from disagreeing with you is the fact that Blight exists.
A lot of those breakable walls turn those survivor sided loops into dangerous loops once the wall is broken. In this way they’re like pallets.
The survivor gets ONE safe pass. After that, provided the killer breaks the wall, fool on the survivors for reusing the loop again.
In this way it’s balanced. They’re safe, and ONLY safe unless the killer refuses to break walks that OBVIOUSLY keep it safe.

As a Rank 1 Killer, the only perks that really determine the outcome of a game are gen slowdown and gen tracking perks.
Perks like Enduring, Spirit Fury, Brutal Strength, Bamboozle, I’m All Ears, Monitor and Abuse, Nurse’s Calling, Infectious Fright and even Sloppy Butcher just don’t pay off.
It kind of sucks that Killers have to be on top of gens and devoting most of their perk slots to them because it means they can’t have perks to help them get downs. So the role has a Catch 22 for lower skill Killers because they need help with their chases BUT bringing perks to help with chase pretty much guarantees a gen rush.
I respectfully disagree.
Being able to end chases fast absolutely counts towards game stall just as effectively as direct gen stall perks, because the less survivors forced to be doing something other than gens, the better.
I’m almost ALWAYS doing a build around Coulrophobia and Mangled. Currently it’s Coulrophobia, Sloppy Butcher, Forced Penance, and Deerstalker. And I slug super regularly. I want at least ONE survivor down on the ground at all times, because that keeps at least TWO other survivors occupied: one to assist the slug, one in a chase.
But why the build? Because subsequent chases against injured survivors are even FASTER, making slugging create even MORE pressure and gen stall. Making it difficult for survivors to heal or assist each other, or stopping them from healing at all, compliments this goal.
I’m not invalidating the claim that direct gen stall builds work. I’m contesting that they’re the only way to win.

Yes. Yes you are meant to believe that. The devs don’t have some hidden agenda to make the game impossible for killers.
-
@LowSpecGamersMatter @AChaoticKiller you might want to stop attacking each other before drawing the attention of the mods.
-
There’s nothing wrong with either perk, PROVIDED that THOUGHT is put into how they’re being used.
Self Care is AT LEAST meant to be used with a med kit for its efficiency bonus. The self healing without the med kit is just meant to be INSURANCE in the event of needing to heal again because the med kit ran out and no team mates are nearby. Ideally a player should be running the above with Botany Knowledge if they’re intending to be able to heal themselves if needed. That way self heal never takes long, and they’re still equipped with a loadout that’s useful for their teammates as well.

@Ohnoes said:
The aura reading is completely unnecessary and should be put on thrill of the hunt. The perk still does its job and if you're really reliant on the aura reading aspect you aren't a good killer. But then again I'm biased. I didn't need several chances to use ruin before. If you can't pay attention to any of your totems then don't run a hex perk. I feel like no changes are being made only because they want people to buy blight.
It’s there to chase survivors off of dull totems.
If there aren’t any dull totems, a hex can’t transfer, making Undying a waste of a perk slot.

Here I come again with my unpopular, controversial opinions.
I actually think the complete opposite. I think MOST (other than the silly extra bp add ons) are seriously under appreciated.
Few have the patience to persist with a lot of add ons to actually milk the advantage from rare, ultra rare, and iridescent add ons.
Iridescent Coin can seem rubbish until you actually come across a Deathslinger that’s mastered using it. (I personally have, and it was an oppressive and hopeless match).
BHVR are getting (mostly) smarter about the design of rare, ultra rare, and iridescent add ons. Rather than them being brainless: just equip and win, they provide an increasing level of advantage or payoff at the expense of either:
- a trade off that needs to be considered
- or an increase in difficulty or skill in order to be rewarded with the add on’s advantage
- or needs to have some deliberate thought into how the killer plays or strategises in order to get use out of the add on.
Another great example is Pyramid Head’s Obsidian Goblet. Undetectable when walking/standing on Rites of Judgement Trails seems weak until some deliberate thought is put into where trails are being pathed, and if the killer is being deliberate about frequently using the trails as a means of travel. It’s an add on that requires that the player actually THINK about how to use it rather than give the player easy, mindless, passive Undetectable without changing how they’d usually play.

Matches don't have a pre determined outcome.
No.
But if a player has had 3 matches in a row with Hexes (for example), it makes sense to take a gamble to equip things that can deal with Hexes for the next match as well, even if by chance that next match DOESN’T have Hexes.
Because the alternative: ignoring a pattern or trend, and finding it pops up AGAIN for subsequent matches is simply foolish.
Just look at how’d popular DS is. Not every killer tunnels, but many survivors leave it equipped regardless even if they experience a few matches without tunnelling.
Preparedness is everything in this game.
