Christ almighty. Every other... no every 2 out of 3 games is this goddamned broken build. If the devs aren't going to fix it, how about you killers admit that it makes the game easy as goddamned hell and stop running it. I started equipping Small Game to hunt the totems down but it still doesn't help since the aura feature brings the killer to me and I end up getting stopped. Add Tinkerer or an Ebony Mori... this is just more freebie killer fun at survivor expense. When will you devs wake the F up.
I don’t get it...
If it is demonstrably likely that you’re going into a match with Ruin/Undying because it’s been in most matches, then you could:
- equip Small Game
- Or equip Detective’s Hunch
- or take in a map with the twine that detects killer belongings, or a rainbow map.
If you choose NOT to use one of those 3 things when you KNOW there is a high probability most killers you are facing run Hexes, then that’s on YOU, and NOT the killer or your team mates.

I think it would be a big problem to add this feature - you'd be able to "avoid" someone playing a killer you don't like or a good survivor is going to get avoided by all killers that play against them. It would just be too unfair on players.
I agree on how heavily it could be abused, but perhaps if it were restricted to 5 or 10 slots? That way it would have to be strongly considered before using the block function?

Its actually both. Solo is bad not because the other survivors are bad (even when they are), but because you can´t relay on them. You cant be certain they do unhooks, or gens, or anything really.
On the other hand, most swf play with voice chat, and that gives a big advantage against the killer, making the swf games usually very chilled, yet boring.
I run Bond and Buckle up pretty regularly so I know who I SHOULDN’T bother helping because I know they’ll just get me killed.
-
When I play Clown I don’t have a specific build, but it’s usually a build built around Coulrophobia and Mangled (either Sloppy Butcher or Sulphuric Vial).
As survivor one build I use a LOT is Bond, Open Handed, Leader, and Botany Knowledge, so I can always be a helpful teammate, get the info I need on chases, heal others fast, be healed fast, and when somebody needs to cleanse or open a gate or chest I wait by them.

The only mapwide cues I’m fine with are the teleportation one (to confuse Survivors) and the one while Demo’s using its Mori (if it has one, can’t remember). Even if you don’t think they’re annoying, the global roars are hurting it because it tells Survivors that Demo is busy and that they’re safe.
I think the large volume of global notifications Demo gives is fair.
He/She/It has:
- a ranged attack
- fast travel
- survivor detection
I’ve gone against some pretty oppressive Demo’s that can use all 3 to great effect. Particularly players that are clever at tricking survivors into thinking it’s perfectly safe to cleanse a portal only for them to take advantage of KI and Oblivious.

Oh dude I SO wanna visit Australia one day. A friends sister went off to live there with her BF and they love it.
Myself, and probably lots of our population, often forget just how lucky we are. We have a big, beautiful country. Most of our beaches are spectacular. Our cities are (mostly) pretty clean (subjectively speaking when comparing to most of the worlds cities). Nature walks in the bush lands feel like stepping back into prehistoric times. Our tropics are just exquisite.

Probably.
Here in Australia we call red necks, Bogans (pronunced bo-guns or bo-gens).
We have a lot of them. Billy probably resonates well with them.

In fairness, every DBD player that plays killer goes through a “SWF is cheating” phase.
I sure did.
But now, even though they’re still damn tough, they’re also extremely predictable. I’m usually never wrong in anticipating certain plays and strategies when i suspect a SWF on voicecoms.
Hence why, above all other builds I fall back on reliable anti heal builds. Why? It’s the one thing that voice coms CAN’T get around. They’re either debuffed or they’re not. And if they attempt to push on injured my Clown makes them regret it due to how fast I down them again.

@TheClownIsKing would beg to differ
Thanks for the support in both tags.
I’m too lazy to go into immense detail, but yeah, anything that keeps Survivors busy doing anything other than gens is good, no matter how short a time it is (seconds count in this game).
But i’m totally anti meta. This isn’t to say I have any stigma towards anyone that chooses to use the meta. That’s not what I mean at all. It’s just that I have a natural inclination to constantly mix up builds and experiment with perks, ESPECIALLY the ones that I first perceive as bad, or just “don’t get it”.
It pays off. Almost ALL perks are seriously underrated, under utilised, and greatly misunderstood.
Forced Penance is a good recent example. When first announced it seemed so pointless to me. So I forced myself to keep using it so I could understand the point of it. Now it’s one of my favourite perks from the past year.

I gotta say, he looks like he was pretty fun. Weak but fun.
From the looks of it, you had to play him completely differently from other killers and that's awesome! I mean, let's face it, almost all the current killers play the same and have to play tiles mostly the same way with maybe their power giving them an edge on certain tiles.
The only killers that I would call "unique" anymore are Nurse and Hag. Nurse can... oh, come on, we all know why Nurse is absolutely terrifying in the right hands, let's not go there. Hag approaches chases differently since she's all about getting survivors into her web of traps and being 10 places at once and it's terrifying.
Old Freddy was unique and now he's a boring, standard killer. Old Legion was unique and... okay, yeah, he was a mistake, never mind—good call changing that one.
Still, I kinda wish there was another killer like Old Freddy. Weak or not, he looked like he was a blast to play! Current Freddy, my personal hatred aside, it just another basic killer with really good tools at his disposal.
Idk what my actual point here was—just my personal ramblings.
He was great fun, and you’re absolutely correct, he did have to be played differently.
I mained old Freddy and the only killer currently similar in the roster is Plague.
Freddy had to think about the survivors as whole and regularly put survivors back to sleep, in the same way Plague has to prioritise getting every survivor infected ASAP.
Freddy was about “managing” the survivors and getting them to constantly be wasting time waking up, and getting them to blow a HUGE amount of skillchecks, making gen repairs take FOREVER.
I loved him, and was really damn good with him in red ranks.
The rework, although good, still upset me, and I miss old Freddy. Deeply.

Ok, please increase brightness on certain maps!! Yamaoka maps are incredibly dark on console (XBOX).
IMO they brightened Yamaoka considerably with the map reworks.
Maybe also adjust your TV brightness?

It’s actually much easier since the map reworks as their dark outfits contrast quite well against the green of the bamboo and the grey of the rocks.

The cages system is one of the most broken things in this game.
I play PH and it seems rather odd that they stopped allowing him to see the aura of cages, but now they get a notification when someone saves off the cage. Like to me, this is unreasonable because it just further encourages a tunnel without the survivor being able to do much.
I still don’t understand why this hasn’t been changed.
This I agree with. Removing the cage auras was a good start, but there shouldn’t be a notification when a rescue occurs either.
Pyramid Head isn’t meant to be using cages to take advantage of who was just in one, he’s meant to use cages to save time and focus on somebody else.

Nowhere in the in game tutorials, or perk descriptions does it say that hooking resets exhaustion.
No other timed status effects are reset upon being hooked.

What do you mean “like with a hook”?!
Exhaustion doesn’t just magically go away once someone is hooked. It just recovers as per normal because they’re not running.
It’s entirely possible to be rescued from a hook before your exhaustion has recovered. Slim, but possible.

Freddy has been one of my mains since his release.
He used to be DRAMATICALLY different to the Freddy you know now.
Considered weak by many, but in reality devastatingly strong in the hands of those who mastered him, he made repairs and escape WAY more impossible than the current Freddy ever could.
Firstly all survivors start awake and Freddy had to manually put survivors asleep. Dream Demon was a ranged power that could start the falling asleep process at range.
While survivors are awake Freddy was 100% invisible. Survivors do not hear the TR, they hear the lullaby. It also only had a range of 24m. Survivors could only know where Freddy was if they were attentive to moving grass or disturbed crows. However while they’re awake Freddy CANNOT hit them/hurt them.
This is why he was widely considered weak due to a misunderstanding of what Freddy’s true power actually is: Reconnaissance and INCREDIBLE game stall.
When Freddy used Dream Demon on an awake survivor it would take 7 seconds (at base) for a survivor to fully fall asleep. During this time they still can’t be hurt and they only intermittently see Freddy (similar to the current 16m to 32m range intermittent visibility). Freddy is meant to use this 7 second transition period to confuse and circle around a survivor to get into optimal position to hit them as soon as the 7 second transition ends. Or he just simply runs off to find other survivors to put to sleep.
Once survivors are asleep their aura is visible to Freddy 100% of the time, anytime they’re outside of his 24m terror radius. They also suffer a 50% action speed penalty at base. 50 PERCENT!!! With the right add ons and perk combos it was possible to make survivor action speeds take MORE THAN TWICE as long in the Dream World. This included gate opening too.
Freddy had no ways to help in a chase, other than drawing the game time out and getting survivors to eventually use up all the pallets. So no Snares. No dream pallets.
Survivors could wake up by finding awake teammates or failing skill checks. No alarm clocks.
The trick with old Freddy is to never let any survivor that wakes up to stay awake for long. You wanted survivors to keep wasting their own time by failing skill checks over and over and continually ruining their own repair progress.
If in the event of all gens still being repaired, good luck getting a gate open. Smart Freddy’s would ensure anyone awake was put to sleep again making sure he would ALWAYS know when someone was at a gate switch, so could run and shoo them off, and opening gates would take FOREVER, especially with Remember Me.

I get that his torment and cages are designed to avoid the meta perks like DS, BT, breakout, sabo ect but can they at least reset your exhaustion?
I got found first, used my dead hard, ran over his trail he sent me to a cage, i got rescued almost immediately cause they make the cages spawn next to your team mates. PH is right around the corner obviously he goes for me knowing i have no DS or BT and fun fact im still exhausted from my last chase.
That's kinda jank. Not only do they take away the only true anti tunneling perk BT but they also take away my DS or the ability for my team mates to make any kind of play to try and help and i dont even have my exhaustion perk back.
I know they just hit PH with a nerf but that tunnel ability is still alive and thriving.
Rant over lol
I’m confused...
are you claiming that cages of atonement pause your exhaustion timer?

@TheClownIsKing might want to get in on this.
FWIW, I think, if you practice enough and raise your skill level, you can play with whatever killer you want. My personal experience with Freddy is that it's useful to fake your teleport as often as possible so that no one can tell where you're going for sure, and they might get spooked off the gens.
Also, I relate to feeling self-concious and judged by the survivors. That's how I felt when I first started playing -- it goes away with time. If you want to practice mind games, practice mind games. Look foolish for a while. In the long run, you'll have the last laugh because you'll learn how to do it.
Thanks for the tag.
@Aldath as Clown it’s important to capitalise on his ability to end chases fast. Clown CAN end chases ridiculously fast, it’s just knowing how to do so and predicting how survivors will behave during a chase.
First things first, you need to be able to be very good at spotting/finding, and tracking survivors. Without that, Clown is powerless. So learn to be extra attentive to environmental cues, and learn to predict likely hiding spots.
If you struggle with this run tracking perks until you feel confident without them.
Once in chases USE BOTTLES SPARINGLY. It should only average 2 bottles per chase to down a survivor. Focus on gassing the survivors pathing around a loop rather than throwing bottles AT the survivor. I.e. you want to force survivors run through a pre established gas cloud ahead of them/in their way.
Clown STRONGLY benefits from keeping survivors injured/making it difficult to heal. Chases become EXTRAORDINARILY quick when survivors haven’t had a chance to heal before you’re in a chase with them. I tend to almost always do builds centred around Coulrophobia & Mangled.
Don’t be afraid to slug regularly. I very often slug right out the gate. So after I down the first survivor I don’t waste any time before searching out another survivor. Bonus points if there were already other survivors about, usually hoping for a flashlight save.
It doesn’t matter if they get revived or have unbreakable.
- they’ve still spent a significant amount of time not helping the objective.
- if they can’t revive themselves, then the time of another survivor is also being wasted.
- Their bleedout timer is being reduced, meaning each subsequent slug makes the remaining survivors more desperate to revive ASAP. Meaning more wasted time.
I tend to try to go for a one on the ground, one on a hook, one in a chase approach. So I’ll only hook once I’ve got 2 or sometimes 3 Survivors downed. It’s surprisingly effective just how much this stalls the game without using meta perks like Ruin or Corrupt.
Hope this helps.

is it a good idea to use object of obsession on solo? Or am I crazy for thinking this?
Do NOT use Object of Obsession solo without Sole Survivor. Otherwise it’s just a death sentence. The killer will presume you are part of a SWF and will want to kill you first. So use the aura reveal cautiously and sparingly. Sole Survivor acts as great insurance for IF teammates die because the more Sole Survivor tokens you acquire, the more powerful Object of Obsession becomes. If you do end up being the last survivor alive you can freely watch the killer at all times without ever giving away your aura.
-
@MadLordJack said:
Hold W. Not Freddy-specific, but it works wonders, since his power is in the loop and without a loop he's a basic killer. Waking up is also useful, but you shouldn't go out of your way for it or you might throw the game, similarly to doing totems.
This is EXACTLY why I prefer using pallets rather than Snares. It’s surprising that no matter HOW good the survivors are, they’ll still sometimes run to a Dream pallet that they should know is fake, but because “run to pallet” is so ingrained, they don’t realise they’re mistake till it’s too late.
Plus dream pallets leads to a LOT of quickly wasted real pallets.

Recently I made a thread about what defines counterplay for me, asking for what defines good counterplay for others.
One of the reasons was that I've been wrecking my head if there is any actual counterplay to Freddy that isn't disadvantageous to survivors.
Like, with killers like Deathslinger, who's continuously tooted to have no counterplay, you do have the means to counter him in ways that hinder him (like going round in pairs to break the chain easier etc resulting in a stun for him and the reload time, while going in pairs also reduces repair time for survivors)
Spirit has inconsistent counterplay, but there is some that hinders her while giving survivors some benefit timewise.
But freddy? try as I may, I can't think of any.
Once you are asleep, you suffer from Oblivious, there's no way to avoid the snares (which are infinite iirc? correct me if i'm wrong), he can teleport willy-nilly etc.
Now, sure 'waking up' is a kind of counterplay, but not beneficial to the survivors, but to freddy.
missing a gen gives away your position AND skillchecks are random.
finding the alarmclock takes away precious time and you have to avoid freddy.
getting woken up requires another survivor to be awake.
I really can't think of any genuine counterplay, as there's not much to actually 'counter' him. it all seems to work to his benefit.
That’s the trade off with Freddy.
It’s either stall the game by waking up via a team mate or clock (or blow a skill check. don’t know WHY survivors still do this), or put up with Snares/Pallets and increased teleport frequency (6 second reduction on cooldown for each sleeping survivor).
They knew that getting rid of Freddy’s direct debuff wouldn’t go down well in the rework with old Freddy mains, so they built game stall into his counterplay.

I used to be considerate, til several people I was helping along turned into some of the cruellest and most narrow-minded players I've had to see. One of them now hates my guts and I had to block them on Steam. So it's better a sharp shock now than becoming the villain of the community.
Fair point.
-
@MadLordJack said:
Because how would you feel in that situation? It's just about the cruellest thing a killer can do - losing the game deliberately just to make sure you kill 1 person. Its also extremely lazy as well as rude, and it cements that you will never get better as a player.
Facecamping is basically just robbing 4 people of a fun experience for no in-game gain. Completely miserable to go against, near-zero effort on the killers part, and no real reward for the killer to boot.
Try and be a little more considerate. They’re clearly still struggling with the basics, and what are the right judgement calls to make as killer.
They finally got someone on a hook after a lot of struggle, and wanted to get at least 1 kill out of the match, as any more were unlikely. At least whoever was chased probably maxed out their boldness points.

So whenever a survivor is within 2 m of any totem, their aura is revealed.
If a Hex OTHER than Undying gets cleansed, and a dull totem is standing, that Hex is transferred to another dull totem.
If Undying is cleansed, then the Hex transferring ends, and the survivor aura reading within 2 m of totems also ends.

So, I've tried multiple times to get some of my real life friends to buy and play this game with me, and almost all of them don't want to spend money on it not because of the gameplay, but because of the transactions available. This makes them even more upset than the fact that the game isn't very well balanced, the slightly toxic community, etc.
Everytime I tell them there are many different playable characters, including, for example, part of the Stranger Things cast, they get excited. As soon as they know they're behind a money wall, they get dissapointed. They ask me why most of the roster isn't available from the start, or why original characters also cost money.
Most of them are okay with the cosmetics, but then I tell them about the Battle Pass and that's when they get confused and ask me why is there a paid battle pass in a paid game, and I honestly don't know either.
The conclusion for me is that the amount of DLC and the fact that the free characters in the game is so small from the start, that they refrain from buying the game because of that. I understand that licenses are paid, but why must we also pay for original DLC? Can't we really get more free stuff on a game we paid for?
- this game isn’t pay to win
- there is a FREE rift
- its entirely possible to play, and win, as either survivor or killer without perks/add ons/items
- there is a TONNE of content WITHOUT paying for ANY of the DLC’s

I don't care much about what you play. I'm just responding to your comment, which is basically says "Survivors die to basement Bubba because they are entitled". That has nothing to do with why people die to basement Bubbas and it's needlessly snarky.
Because most are.
Those that persist in floating around the basement to rescue someone from a camping killer have an entitled, misguided belief that the killer is breaking the rules, and it’s not fair to not allow them a free rescue and escape from the basement.

Oh come on, even this has to be an us vs. them topic? People fall for basement Bubba because they assume it's a depipping AFK Wraith or something and decide to do whichever objectives they can, which includes looting the basement chest. Either that, or they're newer players, or they know full well it's a basement Bubba just want to mess around with him because it's just not fun to do five gens and then walk out without interacting with the killer.
I play both roles. So no, it’s not “us vs them”.
I’ve been quick to pick up on a bubba camping the basement after hooking someone down there. So I’ll go jump on a gen.
I end up dead anyway. Why? The other two survivors refuse to acknowledge that rescue is impossible and so will hover around the basement entrance thinking something magical will happen that will allow them to rescue whomever is down there and not also be hooked as well.
I don’t think I need to explain what the ACTUAL outcome of those 2 survivors is.

Sorry but everyone is wrong. Don't bother submitting a ticket. They didn't hold the game hostage. They were looking for hatch. It's pretty common for survivors to stop working on gens when the hatch has spawned. Take this as a learning experience. Learn the hatch mechanics. If this happens again, go find the hatch. I bet you find someone crouched around or in a locker. Or run whispers like me and never have this problem. Stealth meta is pretty strong right now so whispers is on all my killers.
No survivor worth their salt is dumb enough to hide near the hatch once they know where it is because they already know a killer will meticulously search that area once they also know where the hatch is.

This game already has 4 years. Awesome rigth, its a game that hasnt real competitors. No other has so much community. So, this is the prinicipal reason that they are in comfort. They can focus only in release skins and killers with the goal of (obvius). Bugs, unbalance, poor optimization, frames drops, toast servers, hackers, poor game mechanics, painful events that they have to arrange with x2 points and discounts.
Okei, 4 years is not a while. But i dont see a clear purpose of fix the game. Only little band-aids.
As players we receive nothing by playing. For example: this event.. no in-game skins, no new mechanis(Only hook and repair, hook and repair, rushers, tunnelers, campers, tbags... as always). I could talk a lot about this event but it is not necesary. It talks about himself.
oh wait , we get x2 bloodpoints and login rewards, rigth! But all this is due to people are angry with the event.
BHVR only hears important people or when a wave of thousends come at they door. If most of the people dont complain about something, they dont give a #########. Discounts few days that the event releases ? oh nice... yeah, i was saving iridescents fragments. I bought yui halloween skin for 21k :) . Next day discounts, and they told " we cant refund you fragments, its illegal". Nice, it cost to me to save like 400h. Im getting bored of the game due to all talk about it( that they are only focus on skins)
If BHVR hears more the comunity. Calm down releases and get better the game for example: fix for frame rates, servers, optimization for pcs... Better tomes, rewards for playing the game... If the community is happy, they will buy more cosmetics and dlcs. BHVR has untapped market niche... they are comfort with the average game that they have. Yes, they are winning a lot of money but they could win more with few changes.
This is a small part of what i think. Sorry if the post is a bit confused but english is not my first language. I would like to talk more about that so maybe i will continue this post or answer comments.
Let me know what you think. And if you are in the same situations.
Can this stop?!?!
Game developers can BOTH be passionate about their product AND have the right to earn a profit and wages for their employees.
Gaming is NOT a charity. This player base needs to grow up.
