  • If they choose to silence an aggravated player expressing the TRUTH, so be it. I wouldn't be surprised.

  • I dont think many people here are getting the point. Hag, Spirit, Freddy and others are all stronger killers. Doc is just EASILY the most annoying. Maybe Legion is next. The constant shocks and giving away your own position and not being able to do key tasks like gens, heals, etc and when they time it right, taking away your only way to defend yourself with vaults and pallets... Running anti-gen builds is just so gd annoying. ITs not fun. Just annoying. The highest percentage of DCs I guarantee. I haven't seen any data... just know it. But oblivious Behaviour will leave it as-is because they dont give a damn about keeping the game fun. God forbid they take anything out or fix anything that ruins the game....

  • Unsurprisingly I agree with most all the anti NOED comments and none of the pro NOED comments. lol. People saying that you can just get all the gens and all the totems vs a camping bubba are COMPLETELY out of touch with the survivor game. And it's not about whether we know it's coming or not... I generally expect it... but you still can't do anything about it when the 5th gen pops and the killer happens to see you or, worse, is right by you. You go down in 1 hit and often that's your game. Sure, sometimes even as a solo teammates will look for the NOED to save you but very very often they go down as well. Best case scenario its like farm and all 4 survivors are still around. Odds of things going south fast are much higher if its an indoor map or fewer than 3 others left.

Worst memory was Dusty Noose. 3 people were on last gen in the corner clockwise from the saloon at that corner building and I got hooked at the far end of the middle road. BBQ showed Freddy where they were. The gen popped and NOED kicked in. They all ran toward a gate and me (roughly the same clockwise direction). He downed the person nearest the gen, then the guy more clockwise, then the person that saved me off the hook right after they saved me, then me shortly after being saved.

It rewards bad killers with easy kills and a much reduced chance of saving. I have run the Small Game build and gotten all 5 totems many times. Sometimes the killer never had NOED. Sometimes the reduction in gen pressure cost the game. Sometimes it worked. Again, you cant expect players to do this every game to counter this ridiculous perk. The game would be better without it.That's all I'm saying.

That is the question I would really like to see 1 time a good, long and explanatory answer to.

There are so many great games. If someone is really annoyed by every match, why this self-torture?

It's not complicated. Here's your long and explanatory (?) answer: I enjoy playing a game I'm very good at. I enjoy fair games of DBD. But I often (not always) leave games that are unfair - technical glitches (no skill checks, med kit gives 99% heal, etc) or toxic teammate or killer situations or horrible matchmaking. I don't fault others that leave either. There you go. Clear?

The point is, even if the devs would design the "Survivor Miracleland", they still would dc.

Some people have just a bad day. What do I know? Have a terrible job, their gfs have laughed the last time, or what ever. They coming with their rl problems in the game - how everyone is doing it - and behave then toxic in the game. That is something you can't win as dev.

I bet with you, even if there would be no slugging in the game, no tunnelling, no facecamping, no whatever and instead a 100% guranteed escape rate for survivors in a match - some would still dc.

You can't make everyone happy. The only thing you can do, is trying to hold the toxic ones away from the ordinary playerbase. Otherwise the playerbase gets harmed more and more and that can't be in the interesst of a developer.

No Talmeer. Your assumptions are completely wrong. Who gave you such godlike insight into survivors that you get the right to presume that even if the devs 'designed the Survivor Miracleland' (whatever tf that is) they would still DC? You're just copping an attitude that you hate all DCers and promulgating the idea that all DCers are entitled idiots and would just keep DCing because things aren't perfect. You put on this air of speaking logically but you are frankly spouting baseless, illogical, toxic lies.

It has been spoken about at length by many, myself included, WHY survivors DC. I would estimate that 90% of DC'ing is for logical reasons. Spirit is still OPAF. People DC against her as soon as game starts. Moris are OPAF. People DC when they see moris. Midwich is a godawful map that people DC for. When people realize they're running against a Doc with anti-gen build on Lery's they DC. When they see they're against a see thru walls Meyers or IH Huntress or Rusty Shackles Hag or Coxcomb Wraith, etc... they DC. Why? Because they know that 99% of the time its an unfair game that's no fun and they die and lose a pip usually anyway. Same goes for seeing your teammates afk or playing like toxic fools. The game isn't worth playing so you leave.

All you Anti DCers need to look in the mirror. You want the DC penalty for your own petty and selfish reasons. You just want your bloodpoints or you want to watch your mori or you want to slaughter a whole team with your awesome build, or you want to keep your red rank or whatever. Stop projecting this onto people trying to avoid unfair situations. Remove the DC penalty. Let people keep all their stuff when a DC happens. Problem solved.

  • This whole DC discussion is just so stupid... what are the ACTUAL EFFECTS of aggravated survivors choosing to avoid the DC penalty?

The survivor gets downed and angry. But instead of DC'ing he waits. The following things possibly happen:

    • The killer hooks him and he suicides on hook. How did this improve the gameplay?
    • The killer hooks him and a teammate saves him before he can suicide. Small chance he plays a bit more. More likely he just runs to the killer or otherwise doesn't play normally because he just wants out of this match.
    • The killer leaves him on the ground to bleed out. This is one of the reasons people DC. Now he has to lay there doing nothing while the killer revels in his own toxicity. So now you're exacerbating a bad situation and rewarding the toxic killer while pushing away a survivor.
    • The killer leaves him slugged but a teammate saves him. Again some chance that he plays normally. More likely the teammate gets hit/downed healing him and/or he doesn't play normally but just lets himself get downed again.

The only situation where the DC penalty does any good is when the angry survivor ends up getting saved and plays the rest of the match normally. I am telling you this is maybe 10% of the time. 20% max.

Stop trying to force people to play through bad situations that are caused by your own bad game design. Let them enjoy the good and skip the bad. All you're doing is pissing people off that want to enjoy the good aspects of your game.

  • It's like no one sees the irony of penalizing players for being unsportsmanlike and DC'ing.... when the reason they are DC'ing so much is because of unsportsmanlike tunneling and camping and farming and OP builds 95% of the time. People are continuing to DC and even take a penalty because they are fed up with the BS.

Sorry but you DC penalty advocates are dead wrong. It's too hard for them to change all the valid causes of DC'ing so they take the easy way out and throw in a penalty to appease the complainers. Maybe YOU are the ones who should adjust to occasional games that have DCs. Stop worrying about your rank for crying out loud. DCs should be allowed and everyone should just end the game with a safety pip and no loss of items / add ons / offerings, just like a quit at the start of a game.

  • I really didn't expect my game time to be under dispute.... lol... but, I'll clarify. I'm devotion 26 spread over multiple accounts. I had a devotion 15 account i started with then lost that PS4 account. I now have a devotion 7 new account, my girlfriend's devotion 3 account, and an alt devotion 1 account. I play an average of 8 hours a day, more on weekends. All it shows is that I have way too much free time on my hands. I'm not making it up. There's no need to.

Also, I already said, I'm a survivor. This is a survivor perspective. Killers are more than welcome to add theirs.

As for why I think BBQ is an issue - it's prevalence. It's in like 75%+ of builds because it's very strong. It affects most games and multiple times a game. Maybe increase the range survivors have to be outside of or at least take off the bonus double bloodpoints to make it almost impossible not to run.

Oh... and someone used my number of posts on here as a fact check against my playtime? lol... some people NEVER post on these forums. That mean they must never play? That's just poor logic. I mostly stay away from these forums because it's hard to get intelligent discussion. But sometimes an issue bugs me and I want to throw it out there. Anyhow... later...

  • Just FYI, I posted this mainly to show all the ways solo survivors get screwed as opposed to killers or SWFs. When people complain about the solo experience its because the game is FULL of this crap. I dont need to git gud. I'm devotion 25+ Rank 1 every season solo survivor. And thats even when I suicide a lot of games for garbage like this. The comment about banging your head against a wall and being surprised when it hurts is fairly accurate. But if you want to play this game and your friends aren't around you solo. You can withstand a lot of this crap happening and still pip or safety so you still work your way up the ladder if that's your goal and still earn BPs so thats why (at least I) find myself still playing.

I also made an alt account and it was fun as heck for the few days it took to get to red ranks. So now I generally use my alt account to solo and my main account in SWF or in primetime when matchmaking isnt awful.

  • Honestly I'm heartened by the intelligent discussion here. Some great input. It's exactly right that you need to look at WHY survivors DC and that most of the time its because of gameplay they shouldn't have to tolerate so they don't: camping, tunnelling, afk or toxic or heavily mismatched teammates, unwinnable matches (moris, OP addons like IH), glitches, etc.

I don't understand how anyone can expect survivors to just tolerate broken stuff that screws them over. So how do you fix the above issues? Pyramid Heads cage mechanic is excellent and should be instituted in place of the hook for all killers. For tunnelling, something like DS or BT should be built in to the base survivor kit so that killers actually know what they will get if they tunnel. They need to be trained to go after other survivors. AFKs should be registered by the game and either auto-end the game or just award all players a minimum safety pip and let them play it out. Mismatched teammates need to be fixed. Matchmaking is awful in the mornings and late evenings. Perhaps some way to choose in your options whether you want to weight your matches toward speed or accuracy. If accuracy is chosen you get longer wait times but it wont start a match until everyone is within 2-3 ranks of each other. AFA unwinnable matches due to OP builds, in my opinion this really has to be addressed by the devs. They seem to think that it's ok for a killer to run builds where they are undefeatable every once in a while (e.g. stacked Ultra Rares + Ebony Mori + Indoor Map) and that survivors should just suck it up. It's one of the worst aspects of this game. It's frankly insulting and disrespectful to expect survivors to just work their asses off to stay alive in a no-win situation, knowing they'll likely only safety pip or depip for low points while the killer has a blast. Bear in mind right now many people DC these situations and make it even worse.

For now though I've just learned to accept DCs as part of the game. The fact is RANK DOESNT MATTER. If you're a top player or even an average player, you're the same player even if that number in the corner shows a 20. You lose a pip from players DCing sometimes. Sometimes that player is yourself. You're still the same player. New game.

  • I appreciate the folks trying to be helpful with tips. I'm an unboosted solo Rank 1 Devotion 25 and I know all this stuff. A spirit that can read scratch marks well and uses stridor is un-counterable. And even games where my dodges and clever maneuvers work, bear in mind I have 3 random teammates who most definitely don't even know these counters. P Head is a guessing game which way he's going to go with the ranged attack and it's quite wide. God forbid you end up on Haddonfield or Midwich running any of those long halls.

Look, I'm not saying anything everybody in this game doesn't already know. I don't need to be 'nice' about it. The devs know this stuff is true. If any of you are seriously suggesting that these 2 are not broken and that Doc is not the most annoying killer in the game then I am suggesting you are being disingenuous. If I cannot claim these as facts they are at the very least very, very popular, and widespread opinions.

I have zero expectations the devs are going to do anything about this because everything in this game is being massaged for the benefit of killers. Data released like 9 months ago showed over 75% kill rates but was then downplayed as out of context. I watch streamers make up challenges for themselves like getting 50 4ks in a row with multiple killers. How would that be even close to possible if they were playing evenly matched games? No, I'm not making a request of the devs here. I'm angrily stating that I'm sick and tired of it and I know many other long time players are too.

They teased us with hit registration. Me and my friends actually thought we'd finally have an end to getting hit across a pallet stun or 6 feet past a vault or while in midair falling out a haddonfield window. Nope. Only for high latency killers. I'm tired tired tired of it. Lighten the heck up on survivors and let killers actually have to try for a 4k. This game is not balanced. The only way you ever have a chance in this game is 1) when the bad matchmaking works out in your favor 2) you luck into 3 teammates who are actually as good as you or 3) you SWF. Otherwise you're playing imbalanced and frustrating games. And frankly I can tolerate a lot, but making us also have to deal with OP and ridiculously annoying killers like Spirit, P Head and Doc... those push me over the edge.

  • I've played about 15 matches. I'm Rank 1. I am not exaggerating saying that my average teammate rank is 12. Average killer rank is probably 3. Games are intolerable. I have honestly never refused to play this game until now. Gens aren't even possible. The game is now a 1 v 1 where I try to save as many rookies as possible and not depip. That is not the game I want to play. So I'm not playing solo.

  • No. Unless you want to run around with a stupid gold halo on your characters.

  • Anything that gives me something useful and in a creative, fun way would be better than this. That's what I expect in a 'special event'. Halos are a cosmetic and a bad one at that. And there's nothing creative. Go touch a moving thing to get the free thing. If you enjoy this event, awesome. I'm happy for you. For me, even just simple double bloodpoints would have been better since it's at least something useful.

  • I do appreciate the tips. And I’ll try doing some things differently. Afa infectious fright though, I am definitely not a hook diver. I constantly scream from it while working on a gen or healing someone or myself. And he may start off with no advantages but it doesn’t take very long to get to the rage point after 1 or 2 hits. It’s snowball city from there. I used to find him easy to avoid by hiding and it still seems to be the best strategy. But it’s the snowball aspect with IF and BBQ that really hampers the hiding. After getting hit you have to stay out of IF range and then get in a closet if he’s about to hook which isn’t very easy. I heal ASAP with him so as to reduce the blood and try to slow down the rages ... but it’s a huge time suck trying to avoid the IF and BBQ... anyway.. I still feel the ability to decimate teams is too strong

Two words. Get g pod. Another twlhree words to add learn to play. He is easy to deal with. I have dodged his rage hit plenty of times.

Oh look. A spirit main. Lol. Spirit and Oni have the same play style. And everyone’s dodged him. You can’t dodge him well enough.

  • Thanks for the comments. I think some of you miss the point. I know that at high levels, a red rank team would IDEALLY all run well, play smart, and could gen rush, skip healing and win. My reality as a solo player on PS4 is that in red ranks I get a team that good maybe 1 in 4 or 5 times. The rest of the time it’s players that think they are better than they are and they play the high risk style but get thrashed by the killer for it. I’m constantly on teams that hook dive and give the killer multiple downs before 1 gen is done. Maybe the issue is that on PS4 the population of actually good red rank players is low. Whatever it is, my point is that too many players play the meta perk way, don’t heal, and destroy the team because of it. I would say that in red ranks more games are lost because of that style of play done poorly than by people using non meta perks.

And as someone pointed out earlier, SC is not the time killer everyone has come to accept. 32 secs for one person is the exact same as 16 secs for 2 people. And if using S.C. there’s no worrying about finding others. You can just heal as soon as you find a spot. I know it’s not ideal. And I know an swf team of 4 totally does not need it. But the reality in my solo world is that I wish more people would stop playing like indestructible meta morons and try playing smarter. Seriously. If more PS4 solos ran S.C. or WMI instead of the basic meta set, the kill rate would go down.

you know that the same can be said about players who prefer playing stealthy? anyone can easily say " stealth is a play style for men with no balls ". you haven't played with that person. and immediately. you started saying ######### like " kills teams ". i suggest watching your language a bit. try being more respectful with people here in the forums.

each person has his own preferred play style. and you must respect it.

Please explain how my observation that arrogant players who say they will let teammates who self care die kill teams is incorrect. Interesting that you would come to the defense of someone talking like an immature ignorant player. Let’s not get off track. The point is that good players can use whatever perks they want and win (with a good team). It’s not the “noob perks” of self care, UE, etc that are the problem. And there is too little said about how these players who have this “run meta perks or you’re garbage and we let you die” frame of mind LOSE games because they are too aggressive and think that all you have to do to win this game is be aggressive. No. You have to use your brain. You have to make smart plays. Gen rushing wins games but not gen rushing + playing stupid. You need gen rushing + smart plays. If talking just solo players, I’d bet a team with all players running kindred, WMI, Prove Thyself, and BT would do as well or better than a team running Adrenaline, dead hard, ds and BT. Because they have the information to play smart and tools to speed up the game.

  • @BigTimeGamer said:

I play solo all the time at reds

if you bring self care you are a detriment and will not be saved

if you can’t play injured then idk what to tell you

See... it’s this kind of player... the arrogance... that kills teams. They play injured, get downed, their teammate crouches by the hook for the BT or DS save... another gets downed... the game gets lost and they blame it on the less aggressive players. They don’t play smart, they play cocky. I’m not saying this style of play can’t work. I am saying that it’s just as much a cause of lost games as bad play with self care and UE...

  • @kcwolf1975 said:

What's the problem, if you are there first then leave. If you want to bounce up and down on the hatch, you risk the killer coming and closing it. Seems fine to me.

It’s not about teabagging. I played a swf with a friend and he had a key. we both ran to hatch and he opened it and I was right there on it but couldn’t get the exit prompt because the killer showed at the same time and closed it. There have been multiple close calls where I get there just before the killer and am on the hatch but can’t exit but he can close it. I just think it would be more fair and realistic to be able to block the killer from closing the hatch if you’re on it. He could hit you and potentially down you and carry you off but you should be in control of the hatch if you’re on it.

  • @Dehitay said:

    How is this self sacrificing?

Do I really have to explain this? I turned down my free escape to rescue her and died after healing her off the ground so she escaped. How is this NOT self-sacrificing? geez... seriously people...

  • I disagree Aven. We’re talking about a score group that rewards altruism aka self sacrifice. The survivor was not ruined like a car. A healed and/or escaped survivor is as good as new. And if I sacrificed myself to get that end result, that is the literal definition of altruism. My point is that the scoring system isn’t smart enough to realize the situation. If it WAS smart enough... or a better example... if we imagine a world where games are scored by humans, that play would result in a good altruism score because it took the situation into account. Perhaps there needs to be some sort of killer proximity variable involved in that scoring to improve it.

  • Just play a lot and you’ll end up there anyway.
