I applaud you for at least making an insightful well thought out post. Better than the usual tripe on here likg OMG NOED IS FOR NOOBS WTFBBQ!? - so kudos there. My only issue really is this generalised lambasting of people who choose to use a perk and being derogatory because of it. NOED in my opinion is easily countered and If dealt with cleverly isn't that much of an issue, just because it forces survives to maybe think twice about using their crutch perks and go for something different like Small Game. Talk to me about a perk that is uncounterable and lets discuss that instead.

Deadhard, DS, Balanced landing I suppose. Although Enduring counters DS, some killers don't run that perk. So its just a dice roll to see if the survivor can effectively use the perk to shift the chase. As for Deadhard and balanced landing they're just something you need to expect. I don't really see a counter to it but i could be wrong.

Deadhard isn't an issue I don't think if the killer is patient enough to bait it out. Frenzy on Legion is pretty good for it, Doctor, Huntress ...although you have to have a pretty good bit of accuracy. Balanced landing...well I don't think there is any "particular" killer perk to counter...but I mean...how often is it used these days? I think its almost like the lottery of running Calm Spirit on the chance you may come up against a Doc or Slippery meat/small game for trapper etc..there is an element of chance for any perk that isn't a crutch one..but that only adds to the excitement for me. I ran Calm spirit for 8 matches straight just to stick it to a Doc main...didn't come across one...took it off ...next match..you guessed it..bloody Doc.

    Camping is not toxic.

It's the Killer securing a kill. A kill is an objective.

It's not the nicest and most interesting playstyle one can do but then again camping in CS or PUBG is also not the nicest and most interesting thing to do, yet people are mature enough to find a way to deal with it instead of crying out loud.

It's only in DbD where people refuse to adapt and instead rather request Mommys help.

I would argue camping in DbD is different. Mostly because how the game objectives work etc. People hate it, because like PiiFree said it's not the interesting playstyle for both sides.

    @Orion said:

You failed at every aspect of the chase in order to get on the hook. It's completely fair to lose when you fail. If you didn't lose when you failed, then failure would be indistinguishable from success.

There is not camping thread without your messed up logic of failure. There are situations, where survivors can caught easy. And beeing caught once might be a form of failure, it shouldn't cost your game.

Camping is one of the design issues of this game. It's not gamebreaking, but it hinders a lot of things in DbD. Like also that the game is design with teamplay as an option in mind. It doesn't work and break the game in edge cases especially for killers. But we all have to live with it, because it's part of the game. Hooks work like the do. You can't fundamently change it.

One could simply increase the sacrifice time. Has very little impact on normal players, but gives survivors more gentime against campers.

If camping is that unfun and yet a very effective "strategy", it should be toned down to represent its skill-reward ratio. The easiest strat should NOT lead to very strong results. Same with genrush.

I don't think its an effective strategy. If countered correctly then at most Killer gets 2 kills and 2 ppl survive. So its pretty poor strategy tbh

why do u camp and then laugh at ppl when they get toxic towards you. That in itself is being more toxic than the ones messaging you because u instigated all of it. Something needs to be done about camping it’s a no skill cheap tactic for killers who don’t know how to actually win chases or kill anyone

Plenty of counters to camping, the best one is to ignore the survivor being camped and do gens and escape.

I cant believe its 2019 and still....STILL - we have to inform people that the best way to beat ppl who camp is to do gens and escape...If you are the person being camped then just accept it, its happened, don't try and escape and struggle to buy your team mates as much chance as possible to escape. Also take into account, repeatable attempts to rescue as well as hovering around the hook where the killer see's you will not diffuse the situation and only result in further camping. Stupid goddamn original post...rolls eyes

What are you waiting to see / find out? like how do you get this information and knowing this how long do you think it'll be before its' remedied. I often have 30+ min lobby waits on Ps4

    That's awful. =/

I concur fully. I just reset the lobby and usually get in faster than the 30 min wait I just had so I think it may be a lobby issue. Also I've found the more people I have in my group from solo, duo to full 4 man team also makes it longer...cest le vie

I've lost all hopes of good killers, especially after Freddy and legion.

Here's to hoping the killers design is more grotesque and actually interesting.

There is quite a big gap between Freddy and Legion with killers such as The Spirit, Clown etc Just wondering your thoughts on these as they are miraculously left from your post.

To be honest, I'm gonna have to start running DS again. I don't like DS, but I think the reason I am such a low ranked survivor is because of the constant tunnelling killers. When I'm getting tunnelled, I disconnect almost immediately. That ######### is straight up annoying, and a waste of time, why shouldn't I disconnect? And I'm a killer main, mind you.

Cant you just escape the killer like the rest of us? If the killer is tunnelling you after each hook then its prob the fault of the survivors putting you in the situation where you look more tasty to a killer, me personally i'll go for a safe hook and not just a hook for hooks sake.

  • Depends if I had been hooked already, if the killer is facecamping or I have a perk that would assist. If not then I leave cos cba

Bought my Niece DbD as she enjoys these types of games, and has watched me play it several times.

I watch her first few matches..and..she's already told me to push through a refund for the following reason:

EVERY SINGLE MATCH she was getting paired against with a full SWF hit Squad, or Rank 13-5's at [BAD WORD] rank 20 without SWF.

Seriously the [BAD WORD]? You guys just lost a player before she could even get started.

I think this is unrealistic expectations and she should just have the game refunded and go back to Fortnite.

  • Isnt "hatch Standoff" reworks already in testing? i'm sure I tested this in the PTB so they already have ideas on how to stop it

Well maybe if the low prio bracket is for disconnects instead?

    and not the thumbs down.

That's what I was gonna say. The disconnects would be punished without the devs having to "ban" them. But seriously has anyone ever been banned for disconnecting too much? Because I have never heard of it

With this people won't need to be banned which I think is a good thing. but forces them to play against each other and

    @azazer

Stop dodging lobbies you make ######### even worse.

Yeah put all the dc killers and survivors together.

I can see the pitfalls with the subjectivity of how people perceive toxicity and are salty AF - but for D/C's - I think this could be something that's quite good. Maybe even ….if you disconnect from a lobby when lobby is full? (I can see this would be a bit harsh but may remove lobby dodging)

Kiddies will abuse the crap out of the thumbs down option dude, I've been reported before for "cheating/hacking" even though I don't cheat or hack. These brats will make assumptions and jump out of the window and could care less about being honest and responsible or just accepting they got outplayed. We have some of the very worst gamer attitudes on planet earth playing DBD every day. Don't give them the opportunity to abuse further or they will do it 100%.

    Ok so -slight amendment then.

Only one thumbs down by a survivor can be made in a match - need at least 50 thumbs down before you drop into low prio bracket.

Killer can thumb down one survivor a game if he / she feels they are being toxic in nature. 30 thumbs down before drop into lower bracket.

    OR

No thumbs down, only disconnects count and if you D/C then after x-amount of d/c you get moved into lower bracket with other common DC's - This model is in Dota2 and works very well.

  • Well maybe if the low prio bracket is for disconnects instead?
    and not the thumbs down.

so you'd expect to get 50 thumbs down in a day? how many do you think you get currently?

If they are a killer main they have a chance to get 4 thumbs down per game so after 10 that’s a possible 40 marks from salty losers.

What if you set it so you could only get one down thumb a game? I mean that would bring it so killer can only thumb one survivor and vice versa?

I'm thinking about it being a preventative measure, making people think twice and the repeated users can all wollow in low prio bracket beating themselves off against each other?

  • Some great responses here

This would be abused so much that the game would die overnight.  It would be better actually read reports and address legitimate bad behavior, which doesnt seem to be happening.

exactly so in the event there is no manpower or department to waste money on something which can be self regulated? 100's of other games deal with this kinda stuff automatically - Dota2, CS:S CS:Go and they are way bigger franchises than DBD

Every killer who plays to win will be thumbed down.

The ones who get thumbs up will be the killvivors - the ones who give free rescues, free hatches, second/third/fourth chances that baby survivors feel entitled to, etc. Basically the killers who just let survivors win every game.

Survivors need less power in the game, not more. Instead of helping them with a thumbs up/thumbs down rating, the post-game chat should be removed and the report form should be removed. From now on, only video evidence of hacking should be accepted as a valid reason for banning someone, everything else is fine or can be patched out. Survivors shouldn't be allowed to talk or rerport after the game because they only use it for abuse.

We don't need a thumb system to find people who disconnect. They do that already. There was a mass banning a while ago because of it. They just generally don't enforce the rule, for whatever reason (because they love cancer players who are killing this game, probably).

The system would be more automated and need no manpower to manage, But then this is why I said only 3 thumbs because then it wouldn't get used just because "jackanory" left me to die or camped me

Four toxic SWF players in a game, you camp one of them and what do the other three do? Report, thumbs down, friend request, insults, rage, forum posts, etc.

hence why I said there would have to be a sizeable amount of mark downs before it happened say 30 or 50 - you'd have to be pretty ######### to get that many surely?

Or just play a lot. I could get that in one day.

so you'd expect to get 50 thumbs down in a day? how many do you think you get currently?

MONEY is something really, really valuable that i don't think will be used for this problem, sadly.
maybe the easiest way is name and shame?

The system is already in place, they have the MI from reports already - I don't think it'd be that hard to implement. I raise you 2 thumbs to 5

maybe look at who's giving the thumb down.
A little fix would be the polar opposite existing too.
so after a match, you got an UP / DOWN button.
Say Individual X buys 60 watermelons is giving too many thumbs down, the devs look into it.
