The hatch needs to be closed by the killer.

At that point the survivor can do a gen and it will reopen, or they are screwed. It would make perks like resilence better.

THe current hatch game sucks... and I will continue to slug...

Wasn't this being worked on by the devs? what ever happened to it..

  • Awesome, not only another post on camping, but its a goddamn freaking essay. Next... >_<

I agree. I've stopped playing because I cannot stand the frame rate drops. Almost every swing is laggy. I love the game, I just would rather play a smoother game then be frustrated with the lag on this game.

Got too be honest I don't have any lag issues. so I can't comment on that, but hitting over 30 minute lobby now and no killer :(

What else can I say about this, game is dying for all survivor nerf and stupid update?, most ps4 players just play gta v, fortnite, battlefield 4, god of war, etc..

gta v is beyond dead and boring , battlefield 5 was a major flop no one but miniscule brain fans play that which the population is low and the game went half price 1 month after its release fortnite has become trash since all the nerfs so yeah god of war is a single player game boring so yea dbd is still active with its numbers

You forgot to add that CODBO4 has also seen playership drop dramatically and well God of war...welcome to 2019 Arroz...idiot

I applaud you for at least making an insightful well thought out post. Better than the usual tripe on here likg OMG NOED IS FOR NOOBS WTFBBQ!? - so kudos there. My only issue really is this generalised lambasting of people who choose to use a perk and being derogatory because of it. NOED in my opinion is easily countered and If dealt with cleverly isn't that much of an issue, just because it forces survives to maybe think twice about using their crutch perks and go for something different like Small Game. Talk to me about a perk that is uncounterable and lets discuss that instead.

Deadhard, DS, Balanced landing I suppose. Although Enduring counters DS, some killers don't run that perk. So its just a dice roll to see if the survivor can effectively use the perk to shift the chase. As for Deadhard and balanced landing they're just something you need to expect. I don't really see a counter to it but i could be wrong.

Deadhard isn't an issue I don't think if the killer is patient enough to bait it out. Frenzy on Legion is pretty good for it, Doctor, Huntress ...although you have to have a pretty good bit of accuracy. Balanced landing...well I don't think there is any "particular" killer perk to counter...but I mean...how often is it used these days? I think its almost like the lottery of running Calm Spirit on the chance you may come up against a Doc or Slippery meat/small game for trapper etc..there is an element of chance for any perk that isn't a crutch one..but that only adds to the excitement for me. I ran Calm spirit for 8 matches straight just to stick it to a Doc main...didn't come across one...took it off ...next match..you guessed it..bloody Doc.

Its more common than you think actually, the round I was just in a few minutes ago has 2 people with balanced landing. Even sprint burst is not that uncommon to find, it just depends on what survivor you're facing and their play style really.

As for the two example you put, things like that usually happen to me also when i'm thinking of a counter for a specific killer. Where I make one up, and never come across said killer for like 5+ matches. unfortunately I'd assume that happens to most of us anyways.

I do agree, I don't tend to see many Balanced landings myself - we can only go by what we see ourselves. Personally I'd run Small Game perk and just get them 5 totems then guaranteed NOED is gone. I think NOED is selected 75%? of the time or something? so it would make to be a pretty solid pick I think.

That or you can also use a map which is surprisingly helpful, it usually grabs any nearby totems you walk past so even if you miss one you can go open the map to go right back to said totem.

even better ! although I don't like maps xD in fact I rarely take in any items to try reduce lobby dodging

@PigMainBigBrain Thanks for understanding <3 I'm here to help voice the community's concerns, and discuss ways of improving the game. When people scream that something is broken with no feedback on how it could be fixed, it doesn't change anything, so thank you for bringing ideas to the table. You mentioned smurfs hopping in SWF and bullying low rank killers - how would you go about proving/preventing that, without removing people's chance to play with their friends?

Maybe use something else to match make, instead of actual rank, cumulation of player levels, i.e if you have 3 characters all 3 prestige then your level / score would be 450 and therefore only be with killers around that level, then you could broaden it out? with rank and de rank etc I don't think its something you can necessarily marshell unless you take out de-ranking more..i.e how it is at the moment where you cant derank back up past 15 until reset. maybe set more milestones like 12, 9, 5, - so you stay and game keeps you at a level that is more reflective.

  • What about if Blood Warden was standard unless you had 2 or more survivors In the area/leave zone xD

You might have to go save Garry off that hook after all

I don't like ghostface, he is a too stereotypical killer (masked guy with a scaring mask and a knife), Myers, Legion and in less degree Trapper fit in that stereotype and ghostface would be too redundant.

Pinhead from Hellraiser would be far better.

Would love Pinhead...it'd have to be some pretty f'ked up map though to really take advantage of it...what would his perks / ability be?

HOPEFULLY, I really hope lobbies pop quick for both sides during the event. It is going to be a grind for sure if you want all 9 pieces 4500 seems like a lot.

It has to be tbh .. I queue for ages with a 4 man group..nothing, we reset the lobby and queue pops straight away. makes no sense, I do find it faster to get in as a solo, then a duo, then three of us and takes forever to find a match with 4 man...do they fill lobbies by plonking in solos, then duos etc? It be good to have this kind of information to hand

I have a great idea for SWF that I didn't share on the forums yet. It involves letting the killer now when they are facing SWF but with a twist. They can't use their ultra rare addons vs solo survivors, however they have an unlimited supply at their disposal vs SWF. This will make killers not dodge SWF, if they want to use their ultra rares and make games vs solo survivors more balanced. It's on topic since it's the solo survivors that are rage quitting.

Some Killers, not all would still dodge. We have seen posts on this forum of Killers who derank to 15 and still dodge swf. It isn't about being competitive. Some just can't enjoy the game unless they escape or getting a 4k.

I would say its more the embarrassing feeling of being trolled cos that's how it feels against 4 on point good survivors, whether they in SWF or solo...its a ######### feeling when you just get screwed over by survivors and taking the mickey out of. And no one wants to feel that way therefore they just quit once some claudette is tbagging with her torch behind a pallet ...its like ..I don't need to deal with this - alt+f4

It could be people took a break after the previous event. We had those awesome bloodwebs and double blood points. People may have played other stuff they got after xmas.

Its a lobby + matchmaking issue for sure

you're also forgetting Dota2 isnt asymmetrical: There are many things that can make the game incredibly undesirable for one side, who is also outnumbered. While many of these things can be the killer player being cowardly/cautious/whatever you want to call it, they can also be legitimate concerns in regards to things like latency. Survivors can very easily nope out of a lobby if their ping is bad, but again there is currently nothing in place to allow killers to remove individual survivors due to poor connections.

I know full well that Dota is not asymmetrical, im sorry buddy but i'm not understanding what you are saying in this particular post could you reword it?

  • It's a legit strat, a crap one and not fun for anyone..but its a strat and can generally secure a kill but at the cost of 2.5 Gens. Is it worth it? nope...about time ppl got over this ….

And you seem to think that BHVR would be working on only one Chapter at any time? you don't think they would run things in conjunction? Is for this reason I think the post is not bringing anything new to the table im afraid.

I dont think, if legion did poorly dont you think they might focus on one killer and survivor at a time after that?

That's fair enough if you don't think, I personally think they would work on more than one at a time..mostly due to the recent 3 month turnaround. I mean they have perks, ideas already saved and banked its more a design balance thing than anything else..I just think it'd be poor of a company to not be able to juggle more than one dlc at one time. I don't expect them to have the same amount of resources, but I would expect two chapters to be worked on at any one time...but then I could be wrong I don't work at BHVR

You can't really talk about balance until the game has a proper ranking system.

balance matters even without ANY form of ranking system tho. The problem is that a game being asymmetrical means that balance will always be more complicated.

Aye its so difficult to balance but randomly dc'ing because you failed at a chase or about to get 2nd hooked and get salty should be punished and put with killers who dc after 2 minutes or lobby dodge

Lobby dodging is not even in the same realm as the other examples. It needs to be addressed in a different manner, especially since there is no way to remove specific people from lobbies currently (i.e that one survivor with a red ping.)

Separating queues any more than they already are would only make that particular issue even worse, ironically. Its the main reason why many people think having a separate queue for SWF and letting killers choose whether to allow them is a bad idea, for example.

I do accept this will split up the player base and make lobby waits longer - I digress if you wait 5 min for a match 1-2 mins for loading etc and then killer quits after 4 minutes... and game ruined...or you wait for a flat 7 minutes, two minutes longer to get in a game with a fairly solid feeling that its going to go the duration?

saying that ending up in low prio is as a deterrent more than anything, it works a dream in Dota2 - but then there are million + more players so I do understand, but as stated about it stops me quitting a game in Dota for fear of ending up in a low prio bracket.

  • Id like the putting people into dream state bit changed so you cant just stomp around the map holding down the button until you randomly find some stealthed Nea or Claudette. I think itd be good for it to maybe run out ? and replenish like the spirits phase. Remember the rework is mainly because its not fun to play as Freddy or Against Freddy.

  • my experience with freddy is as follows - I get caught out and put in the dream state, hooked..eventually..camped...then when I get pulled off hook, back in dream state, tunnelled and #rinserepeat. I think this is a common thing with Freddy so id like this to be tackled but I have no idea how at this moment.

I also think there are a lot of anti camping perks in game. I think revealing close by survivors would not stop camping, in fact I think it would make it worse.

I mean they have perks like borrowed time, but people who camp near hooks for the quick grab RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE KILLERS FACE WITHIN 3 SECONDS OF HOOKING THEM don't carry those perks. They aren't trying to actually save the other survivor, and most of the time it ends up working against the person being saved because the person saving will just duck and hide, while the killer is tracking scratch marks. ######### I'd even go for putting that control on the person being saved and having some survivor perk where after being unhooked you leave no scratch marks and no blood stains for 15 seconds or something.

YEah I mean more like..if im camping persay - and I see a survivor close by - I wont chase him i'll stay by the hook because I already know his/her intention.

If you flag up survivors that are close then im going to camp the hook even harder, or do you mean it as a survivor perk to enable a more co-ordinated attack?

I do think more protection to the hooked survivor is needed, if killer is in x distance from survivor then the bar diminishes slower, but if you try and escape you get penalised more. I think it'd be better to encourage safe hooks more so though

I think it'd be hard to reward stealth - unless you get bonus bp for never being in a chase maybe

Currently you get points for being in the killer's TR without being in a chase, but its an absurdly small amount of boldness (which also already has a lot of means to aquire)

Maybe a nice solution would be to improve the accumulation rate, and put it into the horribly neglected survival category? After all, hiding from a killer is more survival than boldness.

I do agree that "boldness" needs some serious looking at. I mean currently it does not reward you to be around the killer stealthing does it

Escape the chase: lithe, dance with me, quick & quiet, iron will
This is my current build and it is awesome for escaping chases easily. Pallet stun, find a window, break line of sight, hide as soon as lithe runs out and you're golden. No scratch marks to give you away and you get a lot of distance with lithe. Even when it doesn't work lithe is still great for extending chases. Time it right against the spirit and she will never find you.

ooh so you use Small game regardless and no self care in sight

  • Ace mainly as stated above he looks bloody Fab-u-lous - but I generally swap between Grey tennis Meg or Micheal Jackson Ripped Jeans Nea ...no reason really apart from I like to look good as I run away.

Ace because he has some of the most flamboyant cosmetics in the game

A survivor after my own heart - nothing better than either the animal print, the blue flamingo sweater and yellow pants.
