That is what the whole thread is about. Both finding keys and RBT's revolve around RNG so technically it does have something to do with what you said.
If RBT's RNG is fine then the RNG of keys is fine
Those are different kinds of variance, though. With RBTs, it's picking the right box that will guarantee the key. You can brute force it by just searching all the boxes to inevitably get what you want. With chests, it's opening a chest and hoping the random number generator gives you the right item. There is no brute forcing. You either get lucky with the key or you don't.

But the survivors don't deserve to escape if luck is on their side and they find a key even though then it's still not guaranteed that they will escape.
What does that have to do with what I said?

I assume the Demogorgon will whack someone in the head with an oversized D20. :P

Then let's get rid of RBT's because she doesn't deserve a kill if she gets lucky and RNG is on her side :)
The Survivors don't deserve to live if they can't search five boxes in two minutes. :P

Okay, if keys aren't allowed then lets get rid of Reverse Bear Traps because of it's RNG. And let's get rid of the chance to get out of bear traps and make it one big channel. Let's get rid of skill checks because of RNG. This could go on with almost anything in the game. Everything in it is RNG, down to every spawn.
I'm okay with taking the RNG out of escaping Bear Traps. :P

@Raven014 But it's not horror.
@Redcum if you're making fun of what I said in that other post, I don't see why, as it WASN'T confirmed before. Now it is, and I said that it could be cosmetics(which I hoped as again, Stranger Things is a teen drama, not horror). It's not right for the game, but they need more players and more money so I can understand why they would sell out.
Netflix classifies it as horror.

The two survivors are confirmed to be separate survivors (not like some kind of Legion thing) so hopefully they'll have 3 perks each
Personally I hope the Demogorgon does something other than hook people since it would seem weird for it to just carry/sacrifice people like a regular killer but I may be hoping for too much
This is a long shot, and I know nothing about Stranger Things, but maybe there is a slim chance it could have its own equivalent to hooking similar to that one spider character from Identity V?

What second attempt at Quentin? Did I miss something?
Eez joke on how ugly Quentin looks in-game by comparing him unfavorably to the Demogorgon.

Steve and Nancy look decent, and I see their second attempt at Quentin is at least a step in the right direction.

A better solution would be to offer an increasing chance of escape with each attempt. With the first escape attempt having a very low chance of success but having a higher chance to succeed after every failure. You can try to commit to downing the person you're currently chasing or you can go guarantee the hook on the person in the trap. With the skill check based system, you're going to tend to see a very unmoving time frame (for the most part) for how long it takes a survivor to get out, and that reduces the risk-reward of your decision making as the trapper.
A system of increasing chance of escape over time:
1) Shields against extremely bad luck on the survivors part (still possible but rare)
2) Shields against extremely good luck on the survivors part (still possible but rare)
3) Promotes a risk-reward decision. I can commit to downing this injured survivor or I can leave them and go get the person in the trap, but the longer I take to get this person the more likely the survivor is to escape the trap.
Let's look at it from a statistical point of view
In our current system (25% chance of escape)
infinite survivors step in a bear trap
First Attempt: 25% will have escaped
Second Attempt:43.75% will have escaped
Third Attempt: 57.81% will have escaped
Fourth Attempt: 68.36% will have escaped
Fifth Attempt: 76.27% will have escaped
Sixth Attempt: 82.20% will have escaped
Seventh Attempt: 86.65% will have escaped
Tenth Attempt: 94.37% will have escaped
Twentieth attempt 99.68% will have escaped.
I could keep going but we would be here for ages. How is it fair that roughly 6% of survivors will take more than 10 attempts to escape when 25% got out in one try. Pray you're not one of the very few .32% that take 20 or more. It
If we start with a lower probability but increase it for each failure we can keep the unpredictable risk-reward factors of traps but shield against bad luck. The system will work as follows, you start with a 0% chance of escape but for each failure you chance of escape increases by 2^n% where n is the number of times you have attempted escape. Lets look at this scenario. Any forumla can be used to determine the escape chance mine was just an example.
First Attempt: 0%
Second attempt: 2% escape
Third Attempt: ~6% escape
Fourth Attempt: ~13.5% escape
Fifth Attempt: ~27.3% escape
Sixth Attempt: ~50.5% escape
Seventh Attempt: ~82.2% escape
Eighth Attempt: Guaranteed Escape
In my quickly though up formula for escape chance, only a small portion of people will get out in less than 4 attempts with most escapes happening from attempts 4-6 with the unluckiest getting a guaranteed 8. Is my formula ideal? Maybe, maybe not, but it highlights the problem with bear trap RNG and way to fix it without getting rid of it completely. I like it because it reduces the times that suck for the trapper because of how quickly the survivors get out but also eliminates extremely frustratingly bad luck you can have as a survivor.
Edit: Formatting
Personally, I'd rather the act of escaping Bear Traps not be RNG-based at all.

Once again: Killers have to be 'humanoid'. 2 arms, 2 legs, 1 torso, 1 head.
They said 'no non-humanoid', not 'no nonhumans'
To be fair, the game mechanics want "humanoids," not the lore. I doubt the Entity would actually care if the Killer has two, one, or eight legs as long as it catches the Entity's fancy.

Laurie was a senior in high school. It could be said shes 18. Quentin doesnt exist because hes not Freddie's real survivor. However hes also in high school and could be assumed 18. I didnt watch that pos remake.
It's not horror. Not because it doesnt scare me, It's because it's not horror at its core. Period. It's like saying the goonies is horror.
It standing upright does not make it humanoid. So once again, I'm done debating this with you. It has two arms and stands upright. Doesnt make it humanoid. As I said with bears, raptors, xenomorphs, etc. Hell, meercats can be humanoid by that.
So. Again. I'm. Done.
Too much fanboy hype overriding logic. Which is exactly what they wanted. Fortnite strategy. Mass fanservice > what made your game good to begin with.
Also, according to Netflix, Stranger Things is classified as "TV Horror."

No peanits. That defines bipedal. But okay. If that's how we do things now.
Xenomorph when.
Raptor from jurrassic park when.
Cantaur. When.
Because theyre not humanoid. They're bi/quad pedal. I've played plenty of DND to know what humanoid means. I know it doesnt mean "human ". I know it also doesnt mean "stands upright".
A quick search on Google shows me that a "humanoid" is something that resembles a human in appearance without actually being one. A good example would be the T-800 (without the human exterior).

Once again. If you let survivors get points following a Killer disconnecting, you're gonna get a lot more survivors who're hellbent on trying to make the Killer DC.
That's the problem of it all.
I'm okay with this. It means that Survivors are risking me turning the game around for the sake of a little BM.
-
What'll happen is that we get another mechanic change that slightly buffs all Killers, but devs will find some way to screw over the Pig again in the process. :P
-
I'd be pretty salty, but I'd wait and see how I felt about re-worked Pig (since they can't make a Saw-based Killer NOT focused on games and death traps). Worst-case, I'd switch to Hag unless Doctor also ended up getting re-worked, then I may consider maining Doctor.
-
Could one ever hope to accomplish the Evil Incarnate achievement before two gens are done, though? That seems impossible unless you are a higher-ranked player playing against Rank 20s. IMO, the ability to close the Hatch outweighs the fact that the Hatch always spawns as far as Evil Incarnate is concerned, making this a net positive from my point of view.
At the very least, I was not able to pull it off until Killers gained the ability to close the Hatch.
-
I think the whole Skill Check thing is simply going to decrease the average amount of time decent Survivors spend trapped in Bear Traps. For that, I'd rather there simply be a straight progress bar that fills steadily until freed, with Skill Checks (no Great Skill Checks) that reduce progress when failed. Basically, they operate like a Jigsaw Box only with no Great Skill Checks. That way, rather than Bear Traps either being escaped from too quickly or being nigh impossible to escape from by yourself, players can have a nice and consistent middle ground that is still good for Trapper but not super frustrating for Survivors (and can be adjusted as needed by devs and/or by add-ons).

a good buff to BT would be by making it so that BT works on you instead of the guy you unhooked. I, as a killer main, I think that would be cool especially for solo survivors and more people will be using that perk. And just ignore these who complain already about that perk being OP. As long as that perk only punishes lame playing-style it should be OP.
This would just incentivize the Killer to always go after the unhooked player, even if it means leaving them on the floor until DS expires.

We'll have to agree to disagree, then.

As I mentioned before it's clearly visible in the game that once you start crawling the bar decreases faster. I'd love to hear the specific value for it though. Maybe one of the devs will confirm this.
Is it visible anywhere else, though? Has anyone else documented or otherwise confirmed this, or is this a case of "Trust me on this one, even though neither you nor I can find anything to prove it"?

Yes, and now it can do it up to 4 times more easily by having 1 distract the Killer and 1-3 others can go cleanse it.
Ehhhh, not sure this is going to be that much of a game changer for Totems compared to the current Hunch.

DBD wiki is lacking info for many things in the game as not everything has been tested out yet. I know that Doc has 2 PCs in order to test things in the game as he himself stated once but I doubt he had the time to test everything. Also devs themselves often do not give any additional info about specific values on addons even when they are asked by members of the community.
Right, but then where is the evidence to support your claim if not on the wiki?

You know problem with these devs is they do not give values on addons, items or perks. They are very obscure with sharing statistics. Even when rolling patch notes they sometimes use vague terms. Official wiki still has no values on many things as one would need dev kit to get them and testing something in the game is not reliable because it can be bugged. So you won't find anything online on the matter. Also as I mentioned before the bleed out is still long so crawling will just slightly mitigate the issue. I noticed that when you crawl the bar is decreasing faster but it would be nice to know the exact values.
It doesn't have to be official dev word of god. If this were something explained in the DBD wiki, for example I'd listen. But it ain't there, so...

I don't have to show nor prove anything to you as you can do it yourself in the game. I have no obligation to waste my own time to measure something in the game. Facts are the bleed out is faster when you crawl.
Hey, burden of proof is all I'm saying. It doesn't have to be a video you recorded. I just wanna see something from the internet that corroborates what you say.
-
@[Deleted User] said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/635280#Comment_635280
You can test it yourself in the game. Normal bleed out takes 240 s and the the bar drops down very slowly. When you crawl you can notice the bar is decreasing much faster. It is still long process though. I won't give you the exact values because I have not measured it but it helps if you don't want to deal with slugging.
Or...you could show me anything that gives your claim merit.
