In that case perk will never work which is good, because first of all in order for the perk to work killer has to be alone in 16m radius to the hook. If he is like 17m perk won't work and if he is suddenly near the hook with another survivor the perk will also not work.
That is why this perk should only trigger when killer alone is camping and survivor being near the hook as a condition for the perk to work should not be required.
Currently this perk is just terrible.
How is it good if the Killer is just outside the radius so the hook meter goes down but still hanging by to make sure no one ever saves the Survivor? Unless I am missing something?

Many are competitive games, or seek to be. DbD is not a competitive game, as in it is not a tournament game nor will it ever be in that genre. It is a casual party game. Alienate the casual crowd and it is a dead in the water game. Thus why they constantly avoid balancing from the red ranks down. How many times has peanits mentioned casual players and casual swf groups and how they would be unfairly punished if balancing was focused on red rank swf groups?
Like it or not, instant heals are not imbalanced when you take instant downs and even moris into consideration.
"Many are competitive games, or seek to be. DbD is not a competitive game, as in it is not a tournament game nor will it ever be in that genre. It is a casual party game. Alienate the casual crowd and it is a dead in the water game."
A game does not have to be a tournament game to be balanced for higher-skilled players while still being enjoyable for lesser-skilled players. Many games that are not tournament games strive for that balance.
What do you base your claim of "DBD dies if it focuses it balance on higher ranks" on? How often has a game's player base died because it decided to balance around high-skill players?
Moris can be nerfed as well, since they are also imbalanced. Insta-downs are fine outside of one or two exceptions.

For me, it's less that it would be too strong with Monitor and Abuse and more that it would be too similar to it.

I've thought about this a bit recently; would it be a stretch to say that the biggest problem with DBD at the moment is the map design?

So how often do you disconnect? Cause it was never why would you care?
I've disconnected exactly twice since I started playing the game. Once when the power went out, and once when I was trapped in a game that was glitched in such a way that there was no way for the game to end (every one else was either dead or gone) and I was forced to DC.

Id say its a pretty good deterrent if people are avoiding using it. They could then focus on other ways of "banning" exsessive DCs that fall in the grey area lost connections and intentional restarts.
If you start at the "ban excessive DCing" part, you don't need the "start removing perks" part.
-
@Frosty said:

Any one who DCs is a part of the problem. And something like this would deffenetly be a deterant. The only people who would get salty are the one's DCing.
It's not a good deterrent if people have an easy way to sidestep it.

They tested it but the way they did it was bad and flawed in design. That is why survivors were able to abuse it by lurking near the hook. Now it will work ONLY IF THE KILLER is camping in the 16m radius. Once survivor enters the area the timer can start dropping again.
Then the killer can just hang out just outside the radius and step in when a Survivor comes close.
-
@Frosty said:

But what if they just didnt DC because of the rammications. Cheat the entity and suffer a loss. There are people who just wouldnt care and restart and go make dinner and have no loss. Cant change that. But there are people who'd rather not loose a perk or 30min of play time and then just stick the game out.
The people who disconnect enough to be part of the problem are the people who would not care about resetting their console or cutting off their connection to the internet to minimize the penalty of DCing.
-
I wanna try Surge with Agitation + Iron Grasp + Mad Grit. Perhaps being able to auto-regress things without having to go to them can make things just a little more efficient.
-
@Frosty said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/648580#Comment_648580
But its a step, and where we do agree is that exsessive resetting could probably be met with some sort of ban. Say after x DC's in y time equals z time ban.
"But its a step"
How? Would teammates be more relieved to find that at least the DCer went through the trouble of resetting their console?
If you want to deal with the problem, you remove the people repeatedly causing it. You DC or console reset too often, you get a temporary ban. Continuing to do it in spite of being previously banned = permaban.

The reward for leaving the hook are other gameplay possibilities and hooks to gain, which in the end equals BBQ stacks and more BPS. Standing near the hook for 2 minutes surely won't give killers any rewards whatsoever.
That's not a reward for leaving the hook; that's a reward for playing the game. If Survivors come to me while camping and let me repeatedly hook them while they repeatedly unhook, I am getting the reward for supposedly leaving the hook without actually leaving the hook.
-
@Frosty said:
"The best they can do is ban people for excessively disconnecting. No need for this weird Entity punishment thing."
Well it looks like we have to agree to disagree. I'd like to think that in game leaves would drop to 0, which isn't a bad thing. And it might bring down the over all numbers.
If in-game leaves go down and console resets go up at the same time, you haven't combatted the problem so much as shifted it.
-
@Frosty said:
"Why would you implement a less severe punishment for an arbitrarily different means of leaving the game?"
Because thats the best they could do. If some one is so concerned about maybe not doing great, that they'd rather get absolutly no progression, then let them restart and face a time penalty. As far as i know a player can "loose" but still progress. So why leave a game that 4 other people have been waiting who knows how long to play. Either shafting the team or ending the game entirely. Dont like it, dont leave.
The best they can do is ban people for excessively disconnecting. No need for this weird Entity punishment thing.

Thats not instant heal then. I dont see the point of having heal-over-time add-on if they created this new perk.
A heal-over-time medkit add-on is something you can use whenever you want instead of having to fulfill some conditions to maybe have access to it as is the case with Second Wind.
-

You lose points toward Chaser if you are near a hooked Survivor without an unhooked Survivor nearby.
It's not that much really; thankfully since you seem to get docked points for camping while the gates are open.
I asked what the reward is for leaving the hook, not what the punishment is for camping.
-
@Frosty said:
It would work exactly as intended. Choose to leave a game, get punished heavy. Circumvent by alternative means, A drastically reduced punishment, but one none the less. If people quit playing all together because they cant pick and choose which games to play and finish, and the game dies, I'd loose no sleep.
Why would you implement a less severe punishment for an arbitrarily different means of leaving the game?
-
No. They were saying that the Second Wind heal happens automatically.
-
@Frosty said:
So if the leave game button, looked more like a loose perk button once a game loaded, do you think it would be used? That is the only situation im purposing should be punished. I agree a which hunt on DCing is a bad idea.
Yes, it would. If using that button would cause people to lose perks, they would reset their console to circumvent it.
-
@Frosty said:
The operative clause here is that if INTENTIONALLY dissconecting came with massive repercussions, maybe it wouldn't happen. Power goes out or bad connection, no loss. Choose to circumvent by restating, congrats on being crafty. Don't like the map you're on, pause the game and press triangle (i think cause i never use it) peace out perks.
"Choose to circumvent by restating, congrats on being crafty."
And this is why your idea won't work.

Can't it be both?
-
That sounds like a terrible idea. If I found out I lost a perk because the power went out in my house or because I was trapped in a bugged game, I would be upset.
The only thing that needs to be done is to be more strict about banning people for excessive DCing.

@TAG you do realize that an overwhelming majority of players play in the green, yellow, purple ranks right? By balancing only to red ranks in a casual game you kill the player population. Not smart. I personally stay out of red ranks because both the killers and survivors are cry babies at that level of play. Too much salt.
Tell that to all the multiplayer games out there that balance for high-level play but still have casual player bases.

So why should survivors care for campers fun or venting childish tantrums? You already have the reward for leaving the hook reflected in emblems and you are being punished for camping. Also BBQ gives you incentive and bonus for multiple hooks in case you have not noticed.
What is the reward for leaving the hook as far as emblems?

It may be kinda situational, but it makes it take longer to search boxes, unless they are taking the risk of getting caught out by the pig, or earning the ability to give the good succ when the timer runs out.
Personally, I feel that it should be a base part of her ability. It is frustrating to see survivors immidiatly take it off on their first box before the trap gets activated.
I do think it is something that could definitely be part of her base ability.
-
@ThxForFacecamping said:
Detection perks pair pretty well with her power, since without them, using her power mid-game is pretty weak. Bbq, surveilance, discordance, all that good stuff will help you put pressure on survivors, since her power doesn't really help her patrol generators.
Last will is definitley the best addon for her, along with rule set no.2, though, addons that make her ambush easier to use are also fairly decent.
There are definitley more people that are better at the pig than me, but those are just a few things I learned
The only thing I would disagree with is RSN2 being one of her better add-ons. It is not as bad as some of her other ones, but I wouldn't use it, personally. The rest of it is pretty good advice to me.

But we are talking about normal players here. You and the similar ones like you add like 5 % of the playerbase.
Who are you to decide what a "normal" player does? All the Moris I have on my main are from being forced to take them in the Bloodweb for one reason or another, not from actively hoarding them.
-
@MimiDallas said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/648223#Comment_648223
Then I would agree. But I hate the fact this thread (with its title and op) is so one-sided and doesnt really deal with the bigger problem.
Not every topic about balancing insta-heals needs to also be about balancing Moris and vice versa.
-
@MimiDallas said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/648221#Comment_648221
NO. IT SHOULD CHANGE THAT. Imagine if ebony mori was integrated to one perk. That would be the most OP thing ever. The difference is very important.
I have enough Ebony Moris saved up on my main that if I were to start using them all at once, I may as well have a fifth perk that is just an Ebony Mori. So to me, there is little difference between an OP add-on/offering and an OP perk.
-
@MimiDallas said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/648214#Comment_648214
Im fine with them as long as they keep insta-heals. You want to get rid of them, then get rid of unfair killer´s items/add-ons/offerings as well.
I'm for it. The non-cypress Moris should be nerfed IMO.
-
@MimiDallas said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/648213#Comment_648213
As it should be. MoM is a perk, syringe is once-usable u-r add-on. Ofc it should be stronger.
So if the weaker one-time health state got nerfed, logically, the stronger one should as well. The fact that it is an add-on instead of an item should not change that.
-
@MimiDallas said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/648206#Comment_648206
MoM is a perk. Perk can be used in all matches once you get it. MoM can be potentionally used more than once in one match. The comparison to once-usable hard-to-get ultra-rare add-ons is completely false.
Pre-nerf MoM cannot be used more than once in a match. You are now saying inaccurate information.
In an individual match, Agent/Syringe is stronger than pre-nerf MoM.
-
@MimiDallas said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/648202#Comment_648202
One insta-heal in the game wont change the game. Ultra-rare insta-down add-ons stay in the game the whole match.
The insta-heal bit is actually false. One insta-heal can cause a Killer to lose a substantial amount of momentum by making them lose all the time they spent in a chase. If it wasn't false, MoM would not have been nerfed because by that logic, one free heath state wouldn't change the game.
Also, of the Ultra Rare insta-down add-ons, the only one that is potentially problematic is Irihead, mainly because of being able to use another add-on to give you more than one hatchet.
-
@MimiDallas said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/648185#Comment_648185
Insta-heal is the real problem only within swf groups anyway. I dont think the game should be balanced according to swf gameplay. If it was balanced for swf, then there should be mic "on" option for any survivor.
Disagree. You don't need to be in an SWF to be near a Survivor when they go down to heal them. You also don't need to be in an SWF to bust out the Styptic Agent/Anti-Hemorrhagic Syringe at a loop and turn it into pre-nerf Mettle of Man without having to be hit three times by basic attacks first.
-
Well, it's hard to take seriously as a result nonetheless. :P
-
@MimiDallas said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/648178#Comment_648178
Its ultra-rare. Its supposed to be over-top and op. The same as ebony mori, prayers beads (which is not even ultra-rare), iridescent head, judith tombstone ....
Moris should be toned down too, Irihead is mainly a problem with Infantry Belt and should be adjusted as such, and Judith's Tombstone is not even a good add-on.
-
@MimiDallas said:
The point of INSTA-heal is to get heal instantly. 12s self-heal ? Then how would it be different from a good med-kit? EXACTLY
Insta-heal add-ons have their place in the game as long as killers have their ultra-rare insta-down add-ons and moris.
If you use it at a loop, you can still run from the Killer and get your heal if you evade them for a little bit longer.

Seriously though, why do killers want the most boring playstyle (I hate hiding as survivor and finding immersed players as killer) to become the main one?
How about stop crying for nerfs to looping and git gud M1 killer mains.
Also:
Why is Judith's Tombstone there? That add-on is not even good.

@Warlock_2020 said:
@NuclearBurrito Though I disagree with greatly on the need to equate any survivor ability to killer ability by a multiple of four, I decided to toy with it last night.
I ran 15 matches with instant downs that were not part of a chainsaw ability. Basically, going with the idea that there is a finite time limit for the power.
In 6 Shape matches, I was able to attain exposed status average of 3 times per match and down an average of 5 survivors instantlyduring the matches (no addons).
With Clown and an instant down addon, I averaged 5 instant downs a match.
I ran the other 5 matches with Trapper using HG, DH, and NOED. HG gave me 2 per match. DH gave me 3 per match, and NOED gave .6 per match. Between them, I was just over 5 per match.
So, I easily beat the multiplier of 4 in every match. I also learned that haunted ground worked super well for Trapper. I'm going to toss it in with a couple of good addons and see what happens.
Instant heals are a counterbalance in this game. Like anything, good teams of survivors can abuse them. One of the Clown matches had such a team. Four syringes in that match. Downed the first one and his buddy had him up right after I hit him. Best part? I downed him almost immediately and scored a lucky shot with the bottle 6 seconds later on the other and downed him again too. Exposed was already winning 2 to 1.
Edit: I should add in that these matches were run at yellow and purple ranks. Mostly purple.
"I should add in that these matches were run at yellow and purple ranks. Mostly purple."
This explains to me why you think insta-downs are on the same level as insta-heals. If you are playing at a low enough rank that you were able to repeatedly and consistently get multiple downs from Devour Hope of all things (even with such a small sample size), it has way more to do with the skill level of opponents you are playing than with the power of insta-downs.

1) Killer: The Trunchbull (Agatha Trunchbull)
2a) Survivor: Jennifer Honey
2b) Map: Crunchem Hall Elementary School
3) Perk: "Into the Chokey!"
The Trunchbull Perk
While carrying a Survivor, you may place that Survivor inside a locker. That Survivor is treated as though they were hooked. Attempting to escape the locker is treated as though the Survivor is attempting to unhook themself. The Survivor still suffers from Blindness, and the Aura of the locker is revealed to other Survivors within a 32/28/24 meter radius.
4) The Entity takes in Miss Trunchbull after she is run out by the students for the death of Magnus Honey. Miss Honey is taken into the Entity's Realm to feast on her hopes that she can one day return home to her adopted daughter Matilda.
