Personally I think it would be a nice idea for the Styptic Agent, being able to heal on-the-move would still be very useful but not annoying like an instaheal.
As for the Anti-Haemorrhagic Syringe though, I think it should allow to pick up downed survivors in a very short time independent by how much they recovered, otherwise it would not be justifiable for it be an ultra-rare addon.
My idea for the Syringe is that using it on a downed Survivor would allow them to passively heal + get up when fully healed, and if the Killer picks them up and hooks them before that happens, the health state recovery is stored until they are off the hook (similar to Adrenaline).

Several killers are hardly hindered by MYC. Billy, Nurse, Speed Wraith, Hag, and Spirit really make good use of it.
Instant downs are way more powerful than instant heals. How? They can be used multiple times per match where instant heal is only once. Sorry, but I would rather be able to get 5 chainsaw hits in a match than have one shot at an instant heal. No comparing the two.
Most forms of exposed give opportunities for many downs as well.
Which insta-downs would you say are at least comparable to an insta-heal? I would say Billysaw and Irihead Huntress at best.

Exposed rarely requires much work. I think Shape is the only one that could claim so. NOED is free as long as a totem survives and it rewards me for not stopping the survivors to begin with.
Instant heals cost your med kit, so they are not free either.
We can sit and argue semantics all day to no avail. The fact is killers have multiple ways to instantly down survivors multiple times in a match. Survivors get an addon that can counter that one time in a match. With a slight tweak there is nothing left to cry over.
MYC requires you to be far away from the unhooker giving them a big head start, Devour Hope requires that AND hoping your totem doesn't break, Night Shroud needs you to be able to stalk without being seen, and the Clown add-on needs you to be precise with your bottle throws. Granted there are one or two others I forgot about (Rancor and Iron Maiden), but the first one has its own strings attached (plus insta-heal don't really matter in this case), and Iron Maiden sucks.
Losing the medkit is small price to pay to be able to negate some or all of a Killer's chase. It's like a pre-nerf MoM with minimal downside that you don't need to really set up that also has additional applications on a downed teammate.
I would argue that most of the insta-down methods are inferior to the insta-heal by a fair bit and are fine on their own in a vacuum. The few that are not fine can be individually changed rather than having to change Exposed as a whole.

Now you're getting it. Remove one, remove the other.
Like I said earlier, there are ways to tweak things so it is not abuses so easily. Purple bottle equals an instant heal if the survivor is in dying state. It equals an 8 second heal over time if just injured. If they are injured and use it in front of you, they are still going down on that hit. If you slugged them, the 8 seconds tick off and they are back to injured.
Similarly, the syringe syringe instantly heals a dying survivor and applies an 8 second heal over time. If the survivor was injured when it was applied, it grants the 8 second hot.
Much more tolerable to me as an M1 killer (Trapper).
The thing is that the two are not equal IMO. Exposed requires the Killer to put in some amount of work (barring NOED). Insta-heal is something the Survivor can have from the very start. Exposed can exist fine with a nerfed Insta-heal. Insta-heals cannot exist with a removed Exposed.

@Tzeentchling9 No one is going to use Alert when Ghostface, who is NOT low tier and is used a decent amount of the time, will have undetectable. Pig isn't bad either. Alert is used so that you will know where NOT to go and be able to lose the killer. If you can't lose the killer 1/4 of the time(since there are 4/16 killers that will have this), why would you use it? It's just going to be replaced by something that's going to have the killer only players fussing. Also, need I remind you, most killers WANT survivors to have to hide. They want looping nerfed so that survivors will only be able to get away if they can hide from the killer. So what happens when survivors start losing stealthy perks AND looping is nerfed?
Then the game is balanced accordingly, and both sides become more balanced as a result. Everyone wins!

No, but the ability to get someone up instantly who was just instantly downed is a counter.
As aggravating as seeing someone instantly heal in front of me can be, I don't feel the ability to do so with a one time use addon is overpowered. I think a portion of the killer community is becoming a bit too whiney and they are rushing down slippery slopes. It is never enough.
By this logic, exposed is a counter to insta-heals because it counters the ability to go back to full heath immediately, no?

It depends on how much of detail was actually communicated. Saying "it tunnels in and out of the upside down" would paint a picture of actually utilising the upside-down in some way more than just literally tunneling from point A to point B.
This is an interdimensional monster with a lot more rich possibility than being a glorified mole.
It was evident from the stream that there was a lot of communication between the two. 3D meshes the show actually used, behind-the-scenes looks, Season 3 spoilers. They were both fairly invested in this. Also, "it tunnels in and out of the upside down" seems pretty concise and straightforward to me.

Ok, have you actually watched the show? Because what you're saying is like saying "It'd be fine for Michael Myer's power to be disguising himself with a sheet, because he did that once in the movie."
It wouldn't make it faithful to the character, nor a valuable representation of the movie's lore.
That is not what I am saying at all. If the Demogorgon in-show has the means to make/travel through the these tears into and out of the Upside Down, that would be a fairly reasonable thing to distill to its core elements for a game, especially if Netflix gives its seal of approval. Would the Halloween IP holders give their seal of approval to Myers disguising himself with a sheet?
-
@anarchy753 said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/646550#Comment_646550
Exactly. Originally the first gateway was forced open by external forces. From there it was like the barrier between worlds was fractured. The Demogorgon senses blood or prey and moves through the fractures to hunt, but at the same time fractures appear separate to the Demogorgon that the first kid and later others find their way through of their own accord.
It's not as simple as "Demogorgon wants to go here, now, so Demogorgon waves his magic paw and pierces dimensions," it's described more as a shark following the smell of blood to prey.
Why can't that be simplified to such a manner in a video game?
-
@anarchy753 said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/646532#Comment_646532
It has parts of that, but it's far and away not the same as just digging to a different place. The upside down is a whole world that exists in the same place and we don't interact with it, and ONLY utilising that as "it can burrow wherever the ######### it likes" is such a one-dimensional, dumbed-down take on it. This power could have belonged to a completely unlicensed Miner killer and nobody would bat an eye.
My point isn't that there aren't gateways or tunnels in Stranger Things, nor that the Demogorgon utilises them, but that that's like they built the power around vague happenings in episode 1 and ignored everything built up over episodes 2 onward.
There is a LOT of potential for cool, dynamic abilities that resonate with this series, and a glorified mole as a killer isn't it.
But that doesn't make it unfaithful to the show or to the character itself, from what I am reading. It is a monster that can go in/out of the Upside Down world through tears in the reality. Is that not what is being represented? It is, at the very least, a more active representation than "some generators and totems are effectively sometimes invisible."
-
@anarchy753 said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/646515#Comment_646515
Even then, that's not something it ever came close to in the show. Gateways were created by various external forces, and the Demogorgon just found its way across.
In season 1, the Demogorgon seems to be pressing out from inside a wall in the Byers house. To my knowledge I don't remember it breaking through, just being threatening.
The "tunnels" aspect is largely a physical tunnel structure beneath the town in season 2. It doesn't really connect to a power to grow a giant sphincter, dive into it, burrow through thin air, and somehow emerge from a different one on the second story floor with empty space underneath it.
This is what I found when briefly reading up on the Demogorgon on a ST Wiki:
"The Demogorgon is able to move between dimensions. It enters Hawkins repeatedly by creating temporary tears in space-time. The resulting portals resemble necrotic wounds."
"The Demogorgon was able to create portals that it used to travel between dimensions. These portals were temporary, essentially being dimensional "wounds" that would eventually 'heal.'"
That seems to run very contradictory to what you are saying.

Possibly, and that's why I'm not saying it's a perfect idea, but it's significantly more faithful to the Demogorgon and the Upside-down than digging a hole.
Is it? From what I understand, what the Demogorgon is doing is creating portals that allow it to quickly traverse the Upside-Down and then appear back into the Entity's Realm.

I'm not 100% claiming I could cook up a balanced power, but consider if permanent gateways spawned fixed on the map. Walking through would basically take you between the two worlds. Gens 1, 2, 3 and 4 (totems 1 and 2, maybe 1 exit gate with UR add ons) could spawn on the rightside-up, only visible and interactive there, while gens 5, 6, and 7 (totems 3, 4 and 5) would be on the upside-down.
As a power, the Demogorgon could burrow down into the ground and come up in the same place in the other world, while survivors need to spend more time moving between gens, planning what constitutes a 3-gen when you might not see another gen right nearby.
Balance-wise there's a lot more potential, pallets would have to be shared between the two, the demogorgon would need SOME way of sensing survivors on the other side(and potentially survivors could hear the TR on both worlds), and the gates would have a short cooldown to prevent hits by just flitting between the two worlds infinitely.
Again, these are just quick thoughts which I feel respect the lore and character much more significantly.
I feel like that would be a nightmare on The Game and on the new Hawkins lab, which is already split between more than one floor. That also doesn't sound like a particularly interactive power. It's just "some generators and totems are inaccessible without going through a certain marker."
-
This was an idea that the devs have brought up before regarding balancing the insta-heals. I am all for it, personally.

**Very minor, nonspecific spoilers for Stranger Things ahead, as should be clear from a post discussing the lore of a character from it.**
I'm not a fan of Stranger Things, but I forced myself to sit through it about a month ago when it was glaringly obvious this was the next chapter.
However, with the full announcement of the Demogorgon's power today, putting aside my dislike of the series, the power is just... dull.
We have a creature that comes from another dimension. It's controlled by a god-like being that completely dominates the minds of it's victims and can destroy them at will. The creatures in the dimension seem to spread infection that can grow more of themselves within the bodies of victims.
And it's power? It can dig holes.
Yeah, open and shut holes, oblivious when closing them, it has merits, but it's just such a generic power for a creature with so much potential.
The entire series revolves around the upside-down, a dimension accessed through gateways. The generators could have spawned split between the two dimensions, increasing the time survivors take to find them, confusing them about what choices are right, a more physical separation than Freddy's dreamworld. However the only hint of the upside-down is a blue overlay during certain interactions with basically no impact.
I'm not saying he might not be fun, or strong, (that largely remains to be seen and relies on how the pounce feels to use) I'm just saying for the potential this chapter could have brought, solid meh.
"The generators could have spawned split between the two dimensions, increasing the time survivors take to find them, confusing them about what choices are right, a more physical separation than Freddy's dreamworld."
How would that be implemented?

Well, according to the Designer Notes post, the Demogorgon has access to both Undetectable and Oblivious, so it's not necessarily out of the question. :P

Random prediction with nothing to back it up: I predict that they will eventually make it so Survivors searching Jigsaw Boxes are afflicted with Oblivious. Makes them less safe, but also makes them less susceptible to Skill Check build (which is a silly build anyways).

Also, is insidious going to be using this status effect? You wont be able to see a certain leathery insidious boy in the basement?
Honestly I have so many questions
I don't believe it does anything against perks that don't rely on auras.

Survivors become Oblivious and can't hear your TR when they work on your Portal and try to destroy it. So here is where they talk about it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BjoZSP8_Ce4
just skip to 18 minutes and they'll talk about the portals and then at 19 they talk about Oblivious.
The Designer notes specifies regarding Undetectable: "When the new chapter releases, players will have an opportunity to experience this status effect for the first time with the new Killer."

So you want the Killer to have to hook two people before the totem breaks so they can have the same effectiveness as the current Ruin?
-
The only thing this prevents on the Survivor end is making it so an individual character cannot use a 5-perk build consisting of perks that are not one of their core teachables. Given that all Survivors mechanically play the same, can't you just decide on almost any perk build (basically, a perk build that is not composed entirely of non-teachable perks) that you want and then choose one of the characters that can support that build? So for the Survivor side, the one string attached to a fifth perk is fairly negligible.

@TAG Let's be honest Netflix has a lot wrong with it other than it's description of Stranger Things as horror. I've even looked up what people classify Stranger Things as, and while some things classify it as horror, the only people who actually describe it as scary are people who are afraid of their own shadow and don't even like to watch horror.
@Jimsalabim It's very kids oriented. Yeah, it's also teen drama, but it is in no way horror. It may not be ONLY a kid's show, but it's definitely as much a kid's show as it is teenage drama, and nowhere near horror.
@JESUS_CHRIST I never said I disliked Stranger Things, and there are many characters in the show I like(meaning I am invested. I mean I've watched all three seasons). That doesn't make me think any more of it being horror than if I hated it. It's not horror. It's teenage drama with kids and sci fi elements. The thing all those movies have in common(and yes, Jaws during it's time WAS scary, but that's because movies weren't like they are now). Again, the only people who actually get SCARED in Stranger Things are people who are so afraid of horror that they don't even watch horror, and are only invested because it isn't really horror. None of the death scenes in Stranger Things are meant to scare anyone, except maybe Barb's, and that was literally the only one. All of the others are either emotional scenes meant to make you go "No don't kill him" much like GoT, people you aren't invested in or don't even know, or heroic scenes in which the person sacrifices themselves to save another. There is gore, and there may be one or two jump scares, the bits that SHOULD be scary are watered down, and even those scenes are so few and far between I could almost forget about the other world known as the Upside Down until they bring it to the conclusion where they bring it all together.
"Let's be honest Netflix has a lot wrong with it other than it's description of Stranger Things as horror. I've even looked up what people classify Stranger Things as, and while some things classify it as horror, the only people who actually describe it as scary are people who are afraid of their own shadow and don't even like to watch horror."
So what you are saying is both the general public and Netflix classify it as Horror. Good enough for me; that's horror.

Assumption based on what brings in popularity from the show, sure they didn't show it in the images but if they did then that would have been a good choice. Wouldn't at least letting players know that it's there create more hype in fans of the show? Of course we're finding out tomorrow so you could be right.
It's an assumption not based on anything, really. You are just guessing.

So I think a lot lol
So Stranger Things is obviously going to get Behavior and DBD a huge influx of new players who watch Stranger Things, those people will want to play this game and those images are geared towards those people. Now in none of the images for publicity are the Upside-down, an iconic place in the series and one everyone recognizes and associates with The Demogorgon, it's not in the images. Something that iconic not being in publicity photos tells me we're not getting it.
No Upside-down means no alternate dimensions, no teleporting there, no hiding there and popping out. No Upside-down severely limits this Killer's abilities since it's the only thing it has got going.
Now we have holes as the publicity photos, holes it can teleport through and can get destroyed, those images by themselves are boring but hopefully there is more. Based on what what we are not seeing and what was chosen to increase hype is why I feel this way.
I want to be wrong, I want this to be awesome but I am worried. I know this thread is making me look bad but what if I'm right?
"Something that iconic not being in publicity photos tells me we're not getting it."
This is all an assumption with absolutely nothing supporting it.

"Instead, you'd run away using the Hatch, since if they're tunneling you, they're not going to be in a good position to close the Hatch." yea just pray to other survs (soloQ) to leave, but as i see as both surv and pig, survs dont leave xd most survs doesnt leave game and unintentionally are killing their teammate, and you wont tell all those 4Heads to leave, they are just sitting in exit gates and waiting for you to leave with them (die to timer or tunneled by pig while running around closed hatch)
That's a problem with derpy teammates, not with the Traps.

I tried:
"Speedy Delivery"

"every killer can tunnel" well but only vs pig you wouldnt be able to run away using exit gate
(when im playing killer im pig main, adding that to make it clear) im using traps as they are meant to slow down game, surv cant do gen, he got 2nd objective to do (hey devs are looking for same thing for other killers in their opinion games are too fast "just add map pressure is too hard for some ppl")
tbh imo its 2 reasons why that change was made: bloodwarden, and noed. Before EGC so damn often pig saved her traps, noed pops and hail mary noed into 2 traps which often lead to 2 kills. And bloodwarden if you trap someone during EGC he wont leave in 1st half of EGC for sure, and most 4Head survs will stay and sandbag trapped surv instead of giving him hatch
and btw even tho EGC was made long time ago survs still are trying to run with active traps on their heads xDD
" 'every killer can tunnel' well but only vs pig you wouldnt be able to run away using exit gate"
Instead, you'd run away using the Hatch, since if they're tunneling you, they're not going to be in a good position to close the Hatch.

Her traps are meant to slow down the game they are not for endgame by implementing this the Devs told us that. What I mean is after the egc starts the survivor has 3 minutes to escape but if the trap is activated the survivor can't escape which means the pig can tunnel them till they die and the survivor won't have time to remove his trap while he is being chased and that would be kinda too op imagine pairing that with bloodwarden.

Just pause the EGC timer then. Done. Ez. Pig nerf is undone without compromising the EGC.
