Well, we can't tell when we don't see it...
So far I know only few people that tested it and they didn't find difference even after losing lot of games in a row.
I wonder what games I will get with Artist, because that should be starting MMR, right?
You don't start at new MMR for new killers. Let's say you have a 1900 MMR killer. Your Artist is going to start at atleast 1600.

There was guy that tried like 30 games and no effect.
Problem is that a lot of killers (from what I know) stopped playing, so survivors are now matched with killers that are not supposed to be there and get destroyed.
So it's the same as the old system where getting to red rank killer was intentionally made easier because red rank survivors complained they had to wait too long/kept facing the same players. It's also very easy for killer to hit top MMR but very hard for survivor. So the survivors actually at top MMR are VERY good. Where as a pretty bad killer can still get to top MMR in a short amount of time. It feels like the entire idea of the system is to ensure newbie survivors have good matches. It doesn't matter what happens with anyone who has more than 10 hours play time.
-
Because he's really bad now and the nerfs were completely unnecessary. He was basically deleted from the game.

No, the scariest part about the video was the insane number of people that didn't realize in the first minute that it was fake.
Yeah I am amazed by all the people who thought this was serious and got mad at him over it. It says 7.0 when we are no where near that, and he says "On the PTB" when we know there is no PTB for a non-DLC patch like the new one, and then he even says during it "Did I write these?"
If there was a patch like this coming we'd all know and be talking about it lol
-
I've been experimenting with it lately. What I am seeing right now is my matches are so lop sided that it rarely matters. Either I stomp the survivors so hard that it never activates at all, or I get stomped so hard that it doesn't matter at all. I've not had matches where it comes in clutch or gives me a genuine 4k after getting stomped. It tends to either not activate, or if it does activate, I get the surprise down and the survivors are so on point they just break the hex within 60 seconds, unhook the guy, and leave. Which is only furthering my opinion NOED isn't a very good perk. It just sucks to die to for the unlucky guy who gets downed by it and has a team who can't cleanse it. I sure haven't experienced any sudden 4k win's from NOED after a match of getting utterly stomped, though.
And on another topic I feel if sbmm was working right, I wouldn't be getting matches that are so onesided, be they in my favor or not.
-
There is no reason to not run dead hard. It's like if you were playing magic the gathering and could use black lotus in your deck. You're going to use it if you can since it's so good and there's no reason to not use it. You're just hurting yourself not using it, and in a team game, you're hurting your entire team by not using it. DH has become a problem now because it's so good and outclasses everything else that there is genuinely no excuse to not have it in your build. The perk does too much and honestly a single dead hard by itself is often better than 3 other meta perks and no dead hard. The "fix" has made it so powerful that the only reason to take it off is for a challenge.
-
Bubba facecamping is old and busted. Camping jigsaw boxes while using vhs tape+rule set number 2 as Pig is the new hip thing these days.
-
I am fairly confident in saying no one has ever been banned for something like a filter. My twitter feed is full of people posting clips of their games using filters. Tons of streamers use filters. Behavior is not banning people for anything short of repeated blatant hacking programs, really. If anyone claims they got banned for stuff like this, I'd certainly demand evidence from them.
-
I would say the game now has a reputation for serious hacking issues as well as a reputation for not dealing with those issues or really attempting to thwart hackers. Which in turn will cause more hackers to show up and feel more bold since no punishment is coming.
-
I'm not sure how people fell for this so badly. You would think the patch number being "7.0.0" when we aren't anywhere near that would have been the most obvious thing.
-
If I am going full end game Freddy I go black box with NWO, NOED, Bitter murmur, and blood warden. I don't feel a need for Rancor especially when I have NOED, and Remember me is just an awful perk. I actually just played an end game Freddy match. Downed a Mikaela at the gates when she got blocked by black box. Always fun to see that add on work.

I think he's factoring in addons as well.
I do disagree with some of his picks - I think he underrates Doctor too, but he is definitely right on the money most of the time.
I can't trust the add on opinions of a guy who is famous for playing most of his matches with no add ons or weak ones. I honestly think the average 2k+ hour player likely has more experience with killer add ons than otz because they haven't done 10+ 50 game streaks using 0 add ons. Otz has good advice on some stuff, especially general knowledge of the game, but add ons is one aspect I don't trust him on because he just didn't use any for a long time and often gives opinions on them without ever using them.
-
I mained killer for a long time and now only play it to do incredibly dumb stuff like camp a jigsaw box with Pig while using vhs tape. There's no fun to be had playing killer in a normal capacity anymore and I legit find it far more fun to play solo queue because losing due to dumb teammates is less frustrating and upsetting than losing to glaring unfairness and balance issues. Also killers don't BM nearly as much as survivors, so that's another plus to playing survivor.
If people are actively working with the killer to get you killed, I am fairly sure that is reportable. I have personally only ever experienced this once, during the previous blood hunt.

I'm sorry to say this but when 80% agree with a opinion that isn't the one you hold maybe you should do some self reflecting and think harder
I'm not required to agree with a guy who rates Freddy bottom 5 and worse than Legion after playing him with random perks and such for under an hour. Otz is a nice guy from everything I have seen. He isn't automatically right though just because he is very popular in the community.
-
Someone here once pointed out a good point. If you can do bones, do them. If your excuse is "I don't have time" then that means the killer is putting enough pressure on your team that you cannot spare time. Which in that case, means the killer didn't "do nothing" and actually may have legit earned that win since you admit he put sufficient pressure on the team with 3 perks. If the killer has to put sufficient pressure so you don't have time to do the bones, in order to even use the perk, then it's probably fine.
-
I think it's great for sucking in brand new players for under 30 hours. After that I don't think they'll stay around, so I think the system is abysmal for player retention, and I do not believe there is a magical pool of infinite players to pull from to play an aging buggy game that is poorly optimized.
-
People keep saying it was permanently removed. I haven't seen it in a while. I don't know if it actually was removed but people had been saying that for weeks.

I don't care how bad or inaccurate it could be, it still worked better than this. I have played five killer matches today and in only one of them was I adequately matched and that was because it was an instadown killer. An M1 killer would have been screwed. I can't take it anymore. I genuinely see why no one wants to play killer. Can't play for fun or get out of ash rank if I wanted too because every game is just a whole bunch of SWF groups who stomp the ######### ######### out of me before I get a chance to even make a ######### impact on the game. This is by far the least amount of fun I have ever had playing this goddamn game.
The MMR system doesn't work for killer because killers gain MMR at a much faster rate than survivors do. So most killers are going to be at or near high MMR where as survivors aren't. This was similar in the ranking system, where getting a pip was far easier on killer than it was survivor.

Really? Reading this thread and others, it would seem that the strategy is actually to pretend the queues are slow... all while parroting that one has quit killer and plays survivor because gg ez... and yet if that were true they would know queues are fast... (pro tip: from the main menu press 'play as survivor' and then 'ready'. It's recommended to do so before logging into the forum to say "zOmG kILlErS aLl LeFT, dBd Is DeaDeD hArd").
None of that will make my queues any faster, unfortunately, and they're up to 5 minutes. But hey, ignore the problem. DBD will be the top forever :)
-
The current strategy is to pretend the queues are not slow. In fact, they're faster than ever.
-
I do for the aura reading add on
-
I'm more excited for Breakers.
-
The thing that makes the toxicity in DBD different from other games, is that there are two separate roles with two entirely different methods of play and goals. It creates a tribal mindset in the community where there is no empathy to the other side, and even an actual hatred for the other side. This doesn't appear in a lot of games because it's two teams or players with the same available characters/items/whatever going for the same goals etc. It also causes people to take greater offense and also causes people to stereotype all of X side as being a certain way. IE all killers are campers, all survivors are tbaggers etc.
Because you can just pick one side and ignore the other, I feel that just causes a lot of us vs them mentality than in turn creates a very visceral "sports team" sort of tribalism.
-
I never understand the idea of putting -rep on a killers profile because 1. He can just delete it 2. No one can see who the killer is until they die/the match is over, and at that point knowing they're "low rep" isn't very helpful, is it?

I have to apologize to you. I thought you were talking about killer players, not the killers themselves. I misunderstood you. On that subject, I understand some killers are better than others. The Nurse has an extremely high learning curve though. So does Blight and to some extent, Spirit. I usually do good with Trapper and Freddy.
Freddy is a fairly good killer. He's randomly considered bad now because a single popular streamer said he was. It's kind of annoying.
Blight is easy to learn, hard to master. It's hard to get to the point you know all the tech and all the geometry of every map which is what you'll need to beat actual real good survivors. But at his very worst where you don't even attack with rush or anything, he's still a 115 M1 killer with insane mobility which is genuinely better than being, like, Clown.

Just had a game where a 4 escape turned into a 3k because we missed one totem how is this not a crutch perk for easy kills. Killers have had this broken perk for far to long and are outraged and entitled when survivors get good perks. Devs we demand a nerf or survivor queues are going to keep getting longer. Losing a game last minute because of a cheap perk isn’t fun
How did he manage to slug all 3 of you? Why didn't you guys leave after the first down?

For a couple of weeks, sometimes in the lobby some players will type 3 chat lines and leaves the lobby immediately. At first I thought it was a joke until it repeated multiple times with the same 3 lines.
Is anyone knows what this is? Is it dome sort of hacking-preparation steps or simply a joke?
If it's pre game lobby, people used to do that to check how acceptable their ping was. If the messages were slow to come out, they'd leave because it meant their ping wasn't going to be acceptable for the match.

It's rough playing Nemesis, there's no two ways about it. Survivors get a free health state with the tentacle, AND a speed boost, which is ridiculous. Not to mention he has brain dead AI zombies that get hung up on everything, and what's worse is the tentacle is not designed to go through objects like fences or cars. So long as survivors duck they will never get hit. This is why it's worth playing Pyramid Head instead.
There's only 4 vaccines. 3 if you use an add on. People seem to think people are becoming cured after every infection or something when that's not possible. If you had to re-infect a guy 4 times then congrats, he used every vaccine himself and now none of his team can vaccinate ever. The zombies are extremely good for info and I don't experience them getting caught on things outside of red forest and swamp which they need to fix. In fact a bigger issue I have with zombies is how they can body block Nemesis, which IMO is a bigger issue than getting stuck on four maps. I sometimes feel People ignore the value of zombies because they only view value as a free down across the map while they're chasing someone else. I have played against too many Nems where I am forced to flee a half done gen due to a zombie and watch it get melted by ruin, for me to say those zombies aren't very effective.

I dont know about other platforms, but on Xbox the party chat is entirely separate from any game being played. Heck can and often are even playing different games. I imagine the PlayStations are similar. And i believe Microsoft mandated any game they accept cannot interfere with the party chats in any way.
So how could the devs block comms on console even if they wished to? How could they enforce it?
I don't know how xbox works as I don't use it and don't know a singular person who does. I know on playstation it is very possible for the system to prevent you from using certain features at times. For instance, you cannot stream or record certain material and the system will prevent your from trying.

Unfortunately people will dodge you just for having a private profile. Partly due to fear of SWF but also because of the hacking problem. Lots of hackers have private profiles, so people began dodging them for fear of hackers.

So, you'd have to hard shut down every other program you had open just to play DBD, even if you're playing solo? In order to prevent people from hanging out with their friends while playing?
This is a silly line of thinking, friend.
Not my fault the devs didn't bother thinking of basic things when designing the game. "We can't deal with cheating" isn't considered an acceptable line by any other developer on planet Earth.
To add, I don't think it's a good idea or something they SHOULD do. My response was to the idea there was no possible solution. There are solutions, they're just extreme. They're not a good idea, but I don't think 5 years of "Well we can't deal with this form of cheating because we can't figure it out" is acceptable. I think they are obligated to figure out some solution rather than throw up their hands and go "There's nothing we can do!" Would it be acceptable if they did that with speed hackers? But this is the same company that has effectively memory holed DDOS issues which are still ongoing.

So, first of all, I don't consider anything required to play with my friends because I don't play with my friends (despite my best efforts at getting them to start playing), but moving on...
You're being absurd. How on earth would they stop people from using comms? The only way to ensure people aren't using comms is to stop them from playing in a group, and even that isn't a guarantee. Not to mention that "playing with my friends" somewhat implies I'm having a fun time hanging out with them, which is kinda hard to do in silence.
Yes it is quite impossible to write code to prevent the game from operating with certain programs running.
-
Play a killer that closes gaps extremely quickly.

Imagine if the developers decided that a few complaints were just cause to ban people from playing this game with their mates like any other multiplayer game. That'd be a truly jaw-droppingly bad choice.
Nothing stops you from playing without comms. That seems to be something you consider required to play with your friends which is really bizarre.

Good lord, this crowd is tiring.
I can't even be bothered to make a long-winded bit about it-- zero enthusiasm.
Just nonstop woe-is-me, won't someone think of the killers, why are we still here, just to suffer levels of on and on and on pity partying. The way they talk about it, you'd think this is their 9-to-5 full time job than something that should be their enjoyment.
You're not a killer. You're a person at a computer. The moment you give "killer solidarity" and assure another poor up-and-coming killer main with your pained smile that this is just the way it is for your mutual oppressed underclass is when you have officially lost yourself in the sauce. You have stopped being a person at a computer, and you are now a part of the pity party aggregate.
Can you have your complaints about the power of Killers?
You sure can. In fact, normal people do it all the time. I do it. There's a real thing to complain about there, and people who don't treat this game like a bad match is all it's going to take to send you into a heart attack are fully respectable in doing so.
But not this crowd. No, it's personal. It's not like you can just-- drop the game since it's apparently unbearable agony to play killer, and you apparently know this fact every single time you decide load into a game.
Because you can't just drop the drug, right?
No, what you really need to do is keep playing this game you apparently don't enjoy anyway, get real bitter and angry at those dirty coddled survivors and engage in passive-aggressive warfare in between jabs at those damn survivors and damn biased BHVR. Because you have bad matches in an unbalanced multiplayer game, and you're somehow surprised every time.
Jesus.
Much as you feel killers are free to find a different game to play if they dislike the abysmal state of DBD, you're free to find a different forum if you dislike the state of it.

I don't think this game has a terrible rep, BM in-game community aside. It's only getting more popular - numbers are up from 35k to 50k on Steam alone, that's an enormous gain. I predict that we'll hit 60k by this time next year.
I also don't think that giving high MMR players the ability to dookie on intermediate/lower MMR players at-will is something that's sustainable either.
I guess I'm just...puzzled by the MMR complaints. Some of them are perfectly accurate - new killers should have a fresh MMR. Survivor SBMM needs to be more nuanced than 'died' or 'escaped'. The game desperately needs more people to play killer.
However a lot of them really do seem to amount to 'I miss playing against much less skilled opponents' - and to me, that's not a positive thing.
I never hear good things about this game and the last person I knew who was going to return decided not to since it's not worth getting DDOSed and swatted. Also source on the game growing? Because there's 35k people in game on PC right now which is quite a bit lower than when RE released.
Edit: Actually I just went and looked at the steam charts. In June the game averaged 48,765 players. By July it was up to 61k. It is now at 48,100 players. From july to August the game lost 18% of its players on steam. The Trend seems to show it was beginning to grow, and now it's strangely cratering down over the past months until we're back where we were at the start of Summer. We've lost around 9 or so percent of players since SBMM went live according to steam charts. Obviously I cannot comment on console.
The game has more players than it did a year ago but it's now losing players from the high it had earlier in the year. Honestly if it keeps at this rate it will have lost everything it gained in the past year.
-
The devs believe they can keep the game alive by just chasing new players forever and not caring at all about current players or retaining them. This can work for a finite time. Eventually you run out of people willing to come to a 5+ year old game with a terrible rep.
-
My general opinion is if they can't be bothered to ban prolific hackers who are semi famous for the length they have been hacking, then they likely are not going to be bothered to ban someone over some extremely gray area practice. I'd put the chance of being banned at the same as using stretched res. So, none.
-
Obligation when I stream. No other reason anymore.

Don't worry, the devs are looking to see how they can take that away from you, too, as per their last Q&A.
