Using false equivalences like that hockey analogy fallacy didn't really help their arguments.

Why are they playing the game if it isn't?
They aren't, hence the 30% player drop in several months, plus devs essentially confirming the ratio between killers and survivors are whack, and survivor queues are double digits for some.
-
This thread reminds me why it's so confusing to have a map in game named "the game"
-
No, I think he just really wants it nerfed. I think a lot of what he says is odd and doesn't make much sense when it comes to ranking things. Freddy bottom 5 , for instance
-
Yes, it is, and it's unfun, and killers are pretty inarguably quitting. Now, onto the solo buffs and possible upcoming baseline BT!
Oh wait. THAT game. Yeah, it sucks too. It's alright on Nemesis and Demo, IMO, But awful on M1 only killers. Playing Myers or something there is pretty suffering.

I think he's fine in terms of strength, but his ability to basically force a 2K regardless of skill is an issue for me.
In 257 games, this is how the Bubba split has been

If he gets a 2k, then it was skillful. Didn't you hear Patrick?

Do something to bring killers back. That will fix the queues and terrible MMR system. But we seem to be doing the opposite of that lately. Any solution that isn't "increase the killer population" is just trying to play around the problem instead of addressing it. And no, giving killers some BP increase or something isn't going to incentivize people to play killer. Actual meaningful buffs and balance changes will. The "please play killer and we'll give you some free in game stuff..." isn't going to get people to put up with the current balance. They really seem adverse to buffing killer so the only other solution I could see is to adopt the F13 queue style. Or straight up block people from playing survivor if too many exist in the queue. Or block people from playing survivor if they have played too much survivor (you have played 10 survivor games in a row! You must play one killer game to unlock survivor mode again!)
Of course, all of that is absolutely absurd when you could simply fix the role, which would be way easier, less time consuming, and better for the game.. But that seems like such a taboo that it is barely worth bringing up anymore.
-
Why would they give the killer anything? That's not their style. They'll probably gimp camping and tunneling, buff solo queue to SWF levels, and give survivors BT. In 2 years maybe killers will get something like basekit lethal pursuer. Meanwhile people will continue to ponder why the MMR system cannot function due to no killers, and why survivor queues are 20 minutes.
-
The fact Myers isn't even on the radar means he's probably never getting a meaningful change. Aside from when they inevitably nerf tombstone piece.
-
It's very toxic to beat me.
-
I wouldn't be against this.
-
I'm sure they'll get to it right after the nurse and blight nerfs. Bubba, we comin' for you!
-
Can't wait for those 40 minute queue times. Next Q&A someone really needs to ask "are you working on AI killers to deal with the killer shortage issue?"
-
They balance around high MMR when it comes to nerfing killers. IMO the only thing that can save this game at this point is a complete 180 of development philosophy which probably requires removing everyone in a major role on development at this point.
-
@not_Queef said:
Probably better to just uninstall if you are this bad at the game.
Devs confirmed if your tactic (facecamping) results in kills, then it's skilled, since kills are the proxy for skill.
-
It will likely kill the game unless put in with something like corrupt basekit.
-
I think the answer they gave in the Q&A confirms lots of killers have quit suddenly, so they do not want to show the ratio or tell us, and dodged the question in a hilarious way where they answered everything but the question. The only other explanation I have is that the ratio has always been so laughably bad that they never would want to show us. But I think it's the first one.
-
Yes I am confused why they are nerfing Twins because "high mmr they are too strong" when previously they said they aren't going to balance for high MMR. So now, they are, but they're gonna nerf killers that dare get kills at high MMR? lol
-
Likely does not count in this case since if the killer is doing nothing, you can just do the gen. If they make a move to hit you off the gen, others can take that chance to run out. Since there were technically ways to escape, it probably doesn't count as hostage taking. Since it would basically be the killer refusing to kill anyone but the survivors also refusing to do the gen to get out of the situation.
-
There is no genuine comparison to make. It was such a silly analogy. You cannot compare a symmetrical team sport to an asymmetrical video game. In hockey, each teams are equal in terms of what they have available to play with and do, and each team is working toward the same goal to win. In DBD none of that is true. So comparing a team sport where each side tries to win by scoring goals, to a game where one side wins by escaping and the other wins by killing, is just silly. You might as well compare DBD and Mouse trap.
-
@GentlemanFridge said:
The whole comparison he made with sports falls apart the moment a facecamping leatherface is considered. He has to do literally nothing but win 1 chase to confirm a kill. Imagine a football player kicking the ball once and being guaranteed a goal, and then being told he's good, while the opposing team gets told they lost the entire game when they lost control of the ball for a second.
The sports comparison falls apart because one is an asymmetrical game where one side has 4 players, the other has 1 player, and they work toward completely separate goals rather than the same. In hockey, it's team vs team, there isn't any handicap, and everyone is working toward the same goal (that is, scoring points by hitting the puck into the net.) comparing a game like DBD to a symmetrical sport is fairly dishonest. They aren't similar outside of both being games. That's pretty much it.

Nerfing or buffing isnt to increase dlc sales which is basically what your implying they are trying to balance the game overall and I am one of the few twins players. They need some adjustments and while the addon nerfs sucked for us twins players it was somewhat understandable. Twins are the least played do to how complex their play style is with virtually no upside. We do need better gameplay aside from the slugfest that we normally have to indure i wish we could a different way with victor he really needs ai but i cant see that ever happening. Twins when played well is extremely oppresive it just takes a lot of work and the survivors need to make a lot of mistakes. The one thing twins have going for them is players lack of games against us. If a huge buff ever comes to the twins i could see that switching but i like where they are now being as hard as they are it keeps a lot of the games feeling like your an elite. Nurse isnt even as hard and she at least has a training wheel addon.
Not sure where I implied anything about DLC sales at all. If it is somehow implied, then it is entirely unintentional because I genuinely have no clue what you're talking about.
I'm stating the devs are nerfing a character who statistically has the third lowest kill rate in the game and is the least played.
-
I find it hilarious they want to nerf Twins for being "monsters" yet the stats they showed, shows Twins is the LEAST played killer, and has the third lowest killrate. But they need a nerf lol. Doesn't that mean every single killer needs a nerf besides Trickster and Nurse, going by the infallible stats? There is no logic at all in nerfing a killer with the third worst killrate in the game. It is nonsensical.
If they're so good at camping people out, they'd probably have a kill rate closer to Bubba and not freaking Trickster. Oh, and what happened to "we don't balance around high MMR." I guess they do when it concerns nerfing killers lol.
-
Good thing we're nerfing Twins. Clearly their kill rate was too high. They're monsters. And clearly their just way too over picked. Look at that pick percentage! Inconceivable.
-
Why does a dev team that thinks tbagging and clicking are an integral part of the gaming experience care at all about toxic elitism? Why do they not care about survivor specific toxicity?
-
I hope behavior finally figured out how to make AI killers.
-
Every killer should quit the game. I'd never return on either side. Would likely kill the game, but the devs seem to want that.
-
They do not play their own game and I haven't seen evidence to the contrary.
-
Only the ones that make sense and would actually speak.
-
Remove the "can't see blood/scratches" in Frenzy
Increase Frenzy duration by at least 2 seconds. Maybe even more
Increasing Frenzy speed to 130% (currently 125%)
Reduce the stun for ending frenzy by 1 second.
Probably some other things. Legion is so bad that you could give them most of their add ons as basekit and they still would barely scratch the mid tier. I adamantly believe Legion is the worst killer in the game and it isn't close. For Ghostie, I don't play him near enough to know what sort of changes he really needs, aside from further reducing night shroud cooldown and fixing the reveal mechanic.

Killer now unplayable, so I play pig and put a hat on someone on the ground before the last gen pops (usually about 4 minutes into the match) and hope they get a little too cocky in EGC. You get the troll 3 or 4K once every five or six matches, but the rage is worth it.
Fellow killer mains, how will you ride out the months/years until boons are nerfed?
Equip VHS Tape and rule set number 2. Find a box. Crouch in front of it. Wait.
So a friend tells me.
-
Far more severe bans that can move up to a permaban if it goes too far up. Probably far too heavy handed. Removal from main queue and put into a "low priority" sort of queue like some games do. But I am unsure behavior can do a separate queue. The other issue is always "what about those who have bad internet?" and, not to be rude, but, if someones internet is so bad that it goes out enough for them to rack up major penalties from DCing, then maybe they shouldn't be playing and ruining others games via bad internet.
-
All licensed characters have little in skins because it requires licenser approval. Capcom needs to sign off on any costumes. It's not as simple as "we have an idea, let's do it." with Original characters.
-
Tests I have seen done regarding day and night basically show that survivors at day are significantly harder than survivors at night, at least for EU servers. Hell, Otz even said as much in his Nemesis 50 wins video.
-
It's still amazing to me that during a time of increasingly worse queues, people would still be fine with heavy handed nerfs that would make the queues longer and longer until they're like an hour plus. This is why I assume many survivor mains don't care about the queue time as long as they can get in a match to clicky clicky tbag some newbie.
-
The worst ones are the ones who start spamming pallet vaults to try and force you to come watch them tbag. I feel entity pallet blocking should exist to just prevent that, really. It's obnoxious.

its been the same since it released in like 2016 or early 2017 its not gonna get changed just learn to play around it otherwise your just gonna be miserable
Dead Hard has always literally negated killer powers like Nemesis and Twins. Also, we have always been at war with Eurasia.
There's video evidence it now does things it doesn't. So, it's not a debate. It's objective and debating it is akin to debating if grass is made of cheese or not. It isn't.

"Deck"?
I dunno. Add some counterspells and maybe a rhystic study. Blight is blue, right?
In seriousness surge isn't good for blight since it doesn't work on his ability. Monitor and abuse isn't very useful on him really.
-
Maybe a year or two
-
At this point pig nerfs are so normalized that when they made a buff to one of her add ons in the upcoming patch, people thought it was a nerf because they didn't read it closely enough and they just expect pig nerfs now lol

I don't care. They need to fix survivor queues. While they wait on that, I will enjoy my instant queues. I can dodge a lobby just because I don't like the Claudette's shirt and probably be done with that match before the Claudette finds a killer. Rofl.
I think they'll just start forcing people to play killer, F13 style.

Because the usage rates for Toy Sword is almost certainly ridiculously high but they didn't take a step back and ask why they were so high.
Let's be honest, Twins without Toy Sword is a lot like prebuff Trapper (when he could only carry 1 trap at a time) without a bag. Sure you can do it... but it is clunky, obnoxious, and just overall going to be a terrible experience for you if you try it. A brown add on is pretty easy to get your hands on and run every single game... so naturally Twins players are going to do that as much as possible because it makes using Victor not absolutely terrible. For some reason, the devs didn't understand why players were doing that. I'm assuming they just saw the raw stats and were like "This add on is over performing. Nerf it." and didn't realize why it was in nearly every Twins game.
Short answer... short sightedness.
I've said it several times. This is why they need to stop trying to use statistics as their end all be all, because their understanding of statistics is about on par with a 75 year old grandma on facebook. They look at the numbers and just make a blanket "must be op/weak!" off of that. They never do one of the most important things, which you mention in the first sentence. WHY is it like that. They don't ever ask "why?" they just seem to operate on an almost robotic "OP or not OP" scale based on usage. They do not at all try to understand why the numbers show what they show.
This games balance is an example of why using statistics when you don't understand them can be extremely harmful.

Dead Hard validation is another.
The perk was already omnipresent in any game from intermediate MMRs and up to the extent that killers subconsciously play as if it were there - and then they 'fixed' it, which amounted to a huge buff to an already strong perk, particularly in terms of it's ability to negate certain killer powers (Twins, Demo, Hag, Trapper, Nemesis etc.).
They also buffed BT last year and Iron will. Two perks that saw tons of play and are meta. So last year they effectively buffed 3 survivor meta perks. I won't be surprised if we see an unbreakable buff this year and maybe a reverting of the DS nerf. Imagine if they buffed Ruin, NOED, and corrupt or something this year. The complaining would be 99% of the forum.

Mm yes, survivor good, killer bad. That's why they nerfed a mediocre Twins addon instead of Alchemist Ring or MDR or DCR or Compound 33 or Rusty Shackles.
This is the only explanation.
This is covered by the last part of my post. Either they are survivor sided or greatly out of touch. The fact they nerf toy sword but NOT Alchemist ring is indeed further evidence they are comically out of touch. I don't feel alchemist ring needs some big nerf, but the fact they don't nerf an add on everyone complains about, but nerf 3 or more add ons NO ONE COMPLAINS ABOUT shows they're out of touch or they care so little about the player bases feeling of the game that they're just going to do whatever they're gonna do.
-
Amanda. Pretty much the only one. She's physically weak (it's a plot point that she's not strong enough to lift an adult woman into a trap) and has no combat training or really anything special to her. She just nabs people and puts them in traps. In a fight, I don't think she has a lot going for her. Even her weapon is a bit meh.
And Maybe Ghostie.

Region, time of day, and matchmaking rank all affect queue times. Most people don't bother to mention any of that stuff when talking about it, though.
It does, but I'd like to know what region this is where people have instant survivor queues. I've seen some state it's at all hours, and that just doesn't make much sense.
My survivor queues at the "good hours for survivor queues" are also noticably longer than they were 6 months ago. Went from 5 second waits at 4 am to near a minute.

I never understand the assumption the devs are survivor sided. They’ve nerfed plenty of things that benefit survivors.
Because they do things like nerf twins, clown, nemesis and then buff survivor wiggle in the same patch, while not dealing with problem perks people complain about, and instead discussing how they'll make solo survivor super strong before buffing killer.
Optics matter and when you do stuff like that, it paints some bad optics. When you have a patch nerfing a D tier killer and NOT nerfing COH or DH, and also buffing an entire survivor mechanic, people are going to notice and they're going to start feeling the devs are one sided. The only other way I can interpret the latest patch besides "devs are blatantly survivor sided" is "devs are so out of touch that people with 20 hours know more about the game than them."
-
I mean...why not? I feel that's what the devs ask themselves.
-
I really don't think most do it with positive intentions lol.
