Damn right, he is the killer.
You live and have the audacity to be bored because they decided no blood would be shed today.
Please, just realise how silly this sounds.
@SunsetSherbet the fun of missions is that they take the focus away from gens/chase /doors and give you a little extra to do. Some of them involve a little risk, like being blind or not hearing the TR, I would not go that far as to call them detrimental for the team.
Unless, obviously, you run around like a headless chicken looking for the glyph and not being aware of your surroundings not knowing where the killer is, then yes that's detrimental, but that's the player's mentality, not the mission in itself.
Being oblivious or blind is detrimental to the team because it's a negative effect on you that makes you play worse nd makes you weaker. Killers have entire abilities and perks revolving around inflicting these. If they aren't detrimental then that's evidence they need to be severely buffed.

My game would just mysteriously crash if it saw an RPD offering these days. Strange bug. Thankfully the devs don't give DC penalties for load screen disconnects.

I've always been against the sandbag challenges, yeah. Stuff like "repair the equivalent of x gens" and "hook survivors x times" are fine since they are the main objective, ones around saves and kicking gens/pallets are iffy since they can go either way, but some outright tell you to play bad to get them.
It's even worse if it's a survivor challenge because you are now impacting your team and lowering their chance of winning by doing a challenge that is putting you (and thus the team by proxy) at a disadvantage. I think the most pure example of this is the blue glyphs. I like the idea of the glyphs but I don't like the idea of that challenge putting detrimental effects on you, which now harms your team by making you weaker for some time. There's other challenges that encourage you to go out of your way to do things you don't generally do regularly. I am certainly guilty of going in a match and just running to every hook saboing them for a sabo tome challenge.

Boil over is clearly a bad and unhealthy perk just from that one "this is childish" thread. Reading through that thread it is clear there is a severe animosity toward the perk and a lot of the community gets angry if they see the perk, because it is perceived as only being valid to troll. So far I have heard stories of killers body blocking people in corners as punishment for using the perk, bleeding them out even with a hook near by solely to punish them for using the perk, and survivors working with the killer to punish their teammate for using the perk.
It is clear that the perk is VERY unhealthy for the community. And the only defenses I have seen are basically "I wanna grief" and "I think I should always have a 50/50 shot of still getting free after losing a chase!"
Kill switching maps and such, as I have seen suggested, is just stupid. Revert the buff or killswitch the perk.

Which is why I just cant get my head around how this perk change ever made it to live servers!
The LAST thing the game needed from a survivor main perspective, was for even more killers to stop playing as queue times were pretty horrific already at peak times.
I mean the devs have continued to present ideas for changes that will worsen the queues even more, and plenty of survivor mains on the forums also demand changes that would also cause more killers to quit.
-
Further evidence that tome challenges are actually a negative because they encourage players to play sub optimally or even throw the game just to complete them. We've had several challenges where doing them requires you to at least temporarily handicap yourself. Challenges shouldn't result in players playing poorly to complete them.
-
You can remove it after fixing the maps and buffing killers overall. Just removing bloodlust is a good way to add a few extra minutes to those survivor queues.

This. Even if you don't have a functioning anti-cheat, you can drive off a lot of cheaters just through high turnover rates and forcing them to buy another burner account on the daily. Most people will consider this not worth it and go somewhere else. (Of course, burner accounts were more of an obstacle before the Epic Games Store release...)
On DBD, you can get away with visibly obvious hacking and outright baiting the mods in chat for months. The report system is defunct and cheaters have near-zero fear of retaliation.
All of that said, I'm extremely dubious about this 10% statistic. I'd be surprised if it were as high as 2%.
Burner accounts will never be an issue again for the cheaters due to epic game store. One of the cheater seller guys (might be the same one in dowsey's pic) claimed cheaters used scripts to claim thousands of accounts so they'd never run out. The Epic game store release pretty much killed any chance of ever dealing with cheatig via turn over.

Haven't gotten them and I don't expect to. Had 3/4 of the masks unlocked and unlocked them years ago (like 2018) I barely play Bubba anymore. I don't care enough about shards to go through hoops with support, and I shouldn't have to.

G'day Guys,
I trust everyone is well and safe.
so not self promoting in anyway or trying to start any arguments, i'm wanting a civil discussion on the topic at hand. So let me give you some context i was streaming and playing as Legion at Gideon Meat Plant, now the survivors had done there objective of starting gens and end game collapse had begun. I managed to hook 2 survivors at the end and sacrificed them to our dear entity lol i had 2 more survivors down stairs of map. Now these two survivors i managed to down, now when i picked up one of them i noticed no hooks where available down stairs so i dropped and slugged to get the win. My question to you is this, Do you feel this is toxic in anyway shape or form. again i would love to hear you opinions on the topic. Again nice a civil please see y'all in the fog.
Sounds like your other option was to just basically concede and forefit, letting your opponents leave. Bleed out is part of the game and your reason for doing it was "there's no hooks close enough" and not something like "I wanted to teach that guy a lesson for tbagging me!" so no, it's not at all toxic. Maybe the devs should ensure hooks are always close. There's legit no point in playing the game if you are not trying to win, and personally, I don't want a win where I won solely because my opponent conceded due to some bizarre one sided honor code.

I'll probably be the only one and people will hate me for it and I'm sorry, but after only two boring and frustrating games that ended up as 4k with 5 gens left, I already got tired of it and now I just let go of the gen after the first hook and if DMS is on then I consider running up to the killer and just killing myself to move on to the next game.
It's probably perfectly ok against SWF, but in uncoordinated solo queue, everyone stops repairing to go for the hook and boom! all three gens that had progress are blocked. After a while I was so tired of it because one was dead, everyone else dead on hook, and not one gen done, that I decided to be so smart and stay on the gen and let the others do the rescue - except that the others probably had the same idea and the guy died on hook because nobody got him.
That I'm not with really good teammates usually and the killer has enough pressure that DMS is literally permanently active just adds to the frustration. I guess it's time to get an SWF group.
tbh as the killer running up to me trying to beg to be killed like that would just make me slug you for 4 minutes to force you to DC and eat a ban or waste 4 minutes of your life bleeding out. I hate when people try to circumvent the DC penalty by getting the killer to kill them fast so they can throw the game for their team without getting penalized. Nah, you're gonna wait. You're ruining your teams game, and I'm not letting you off easy for it and rewarding your childishness so you do it again.
"My team is often bad" is really never an excuse to nerf a perk imo. It's the same excuse used to justify nerfing NOED. "But if I get a horrible team, they won't do bones and..." Perks aren't designed so that garbage teams can counter them. Because if they were then they'd be toothless perks.
-
Would be nice if twitch would take action on them for their behavior in a game.
-
I feel part of the reason it's bad is that an air of "some cheating is okay" has been fostered by the devs and community due to dev refusal to actually ban "acceptable" cheats like comms, stretched res, exploits etc or even admit they are cheating. These are all a-ok and never bannable and the devs even try to make excuses to why these outside advantages aren't cheating like other outside advantages.. Creates a sort of arms race, and with the devs pretty much totally hands off on dealing with cheating, it just means things keep getting worse. When you basically ok various types of cheating such as stretched res and in game exploits for years, it can create a community who feels cheating isn't that big of a deal. If the devs actually went hard against all forms of cheating, then things might change.
Also reporting is a pain. I'm sorry, but I'm not going to take video of every match, edit video, resize it for whatever size requirements the site has etc just so behavior can maybe ban them in 4 weeks. Make it easier to actually report people.

You keep saying this, and you're right that it has horror elements, but it's way more of an action sci-fi film then it is a horror one.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/VV6MXM4UJ5P2/image.png
Incorporating a license because it has subtle horror themes is just opening the door to allowing ridiculous action licenses to be added in the future.
"If you add slasher characters then they'll add silly characters"
Like FNAF? The T-800 is literally a slasher villain. He is an indestructible being going about systematically hunting down and killing people. Saying it isn't a horror film is like saying Jason X isn't one because it's mostly tongue and cheek and silly and is sci fi. The film follows most slasher tropes. An unkillable killer stalks a woman or multiple people, killing them one by one, culminating in a final girl chase where the heroine barely kills the unstoppable killer. Including false death moments for the killer, ala Halloween or Friday the 13th. It's like when people try to argue Alien wouldn't fit the game.
Terminator is not a flat out straight horror film, but neither is it a straight up action film, and the character of the T-800 fits fine in a game about hunters hunting people down and killing them.

Stop nerfing them, give massive buffs to most killers (pretty much everyone but nurse and blight), revert unneeded heavy handed nerfs (Billy, Fred, Slinger) and nerf problematic perks like Dead hard. Lastly, stop making perks designed almost entirely to make the game miserable for the killer.

Would you explain why?
Because further buffing survivors and painting more basically objective pictures the devs are survivor sided isn't going to help the games declining population. In fact I think constant survivor buffs is why the game is dropping players like an anvil. This buff is unnecessary because it just acts as a massive nerf for a mechanic that is already very lackluster outside of one perk. Do you think killers should get to see the aura of boon totems from across the map, too? Because that would probably be the trade off to me. If you can see scourge hooks to try and take away the killers perk, then the killer shouldn't need to search for boons and just be told where they are.
-
No.

I brought it up because the number of posts about this is ridiculous and overhyped. It's being talked about over and over as IF it was some new meta busting perk and it just isn't. The same thing happened with saboteur when it went through it's most recent change and survivors ran it for like a week or two and people came here complaining about toxic 4 man swf sabo squads OP and all this nonsense like it didn't have counterplay.
There are meta killer perks that are stronger and more annoying to deal with than the new Boil Over but we just have to deal with them (Pain Resonance is a pain in the ass, pun intended, new Dead Man's Switch) Boil over is easily weaker than both of those individually and definitely weaker than the two put together (especially in the hands of The Artist, Freddy, or any high mobility character like Nurse, Billy, Spirit, Demo with portals set up, etc)
I just find it weird people are even complaining about Boil Over at all but this is the DBD community so I shouldn't be surprised
Neither DMS or Pain resonance is remotely comparable to boil over nor are they very annoying at all. I exclusively play survivor now. Zero issue with the perks. DMS may be a little annoying at times against specific killers but comparing pain resonance is extremely bizarre. But, Again, two perks designed to win and used to win. One used to troll. The intent is the issue. Stop using boil over with specific intent to troll and people will shut up.

Not that Boil Over was ever gonna be meta but I find it funny how we (we meaning the community) complain about the meta and everyone running the same perks, but when useless perks get buffed (and are still meme worthy), we immediately want to nerf them to ensure that the meta never changes and no one is ever incentivised to run other perks.....
These takes are always weird to me. When people complain about OP perks ruling the meta, they mean they want those perks toned down in some way so they aren't meta anymore. They don't mean that they want even worse and more obnoxious stuff made that changes the meta by being even more busted than the stuff people complained about. That's power creep, and it kills games.
It really sounds like you are missing why people have an issue with the perk. It also seems odd to bring up the whole meta argument when admitting the perk isn't ever going to be meta. No one thinks boil over is a good perk now. It's simply an extremely obnoxious and unfun one now. The person who uses it may not increase their chances of winning but they sure increased their chances of upsetting the other side

I agree on FNaF being a jumpscare simulator a lot of the time, but you did not just call SB a "game". That "thing" has about the same amount of bugs and glitches Cyberpunk had on release, has no lore in a lore driven series, gameplay is just fetch quests and the "main villain" of the game appears thrice in the whole "game", while shoehorning an already dead villain for no reason other than fan service which no one actually wanted, seeing as he died about 5 games ago
It's a game in terms of it actually looks like a game and seems to have more effort in it than still images and video files being played. It looks like they actually modeled things, you know? And did more than make some badly done 3D characters in an extremely outdated version of blender. I can't say anything about how good the game is. I am saying it looks closer to an actual game you'd see in a store, rather than a game that you'd see on newgrounds.
Like it could be awful. But it sure looks like it took a lot more effort than FNAF1, even if it sucks. Was all I really meant.

Well, I’d rather you call my post cringey than use my Lord’s name in vain. But here we both are.
Do you think excessive camping, tunneling, and slugging are “healthy” for DbD?
I simply gave clear and relevant examples of how survivors have to deal with perks/killer play styles with perks of their own. Not sure how that’s cringe.
All three of those things are done with the intent of winning the game. Boil over abuse is only being used to anger and frustrate the killer, not to actually win the game. The intent is the different. One is a series of strategies to win the game. The other seems to largely be an issue because people are using it to troll and upset the other side, rather than using it as a legitimate strategy.

I'm pretty sure the devs don't want children in the game. Freddy (and most of the FnaF robots) are possessed by children. Springtrap is one of, if not the only robot possesed by a fully grown adult
I am sure they care about potential sales more so than that. They'll just say Freddy is now an adult and be done with it, like they have for various licensed characters they have no authority to age up.

People talking about fandoms need to realise that the DBD fandom has it's fair share of 'cringe'
A whole lot of it, actually
Never seen anyone try to tell me DBD is the greatest horror game ever made or one of the greatest games of the past 10 years. I have FNAF fans telling me FNAF is, though. Which probably irritates people due to FNAF being lower effort than Newgrounds games from 07. It boils down to basically being a still image with a series of simon says/qte like events occuring. If you miss one, the game then pauses to load jumpscare.mp4 That's it. That's the whole game when you boil it down. Still background images that you can go through with security cameras, some QTE like events you must do or lose, and then the game playing a jumpscare video file when you fail.
Kind of annoys people when you have a ton of people telling you THAT is one of the greatest horror games ever. Borders on offensive, even, if you really like the genre. Hey you know what is an infinitely better horror game from the past decade, that was also made by like one guy? Phasmophobia. And it actually has gameplay besides "DO THIS OR A JUMPSCARE PLAYS AHHHH." I probably wouldn't get annoyed if I didn't genuinely have lots of people telling me these low effort games are deserving of awards and such. You can like something while admitting it's not a great example of quality in its medium.
Granted some of the later games such as security breach actually have effort put into them. Enough I can consider them an actual game and not a newgrounds tier flash.
-
Sounds like more reason to exclusively play AFK Pig.
-
I'd rather not have the fireflies but that's mainly because I think Rob Zombie is an awful film maker and I hated how hard he tries to make you like his possibly worse than Freddy krueger characters. Just made me hate the characters more. If they got in I'd just shrug. I dislike the characters and film but if it happened it would just mean a patch I don't care about rather than annoying me.

Would be easier to change the perk than to change every map. Imagine redoing every map just to deal with a problematic perk instead of just changing the perk. The maps should get redone, but, like, that takes a long long time and a hell of a lot more dev effort than just changing the numbers again.

So I've noticed a bit as well. Usually it happens in a disscusion where someone gives their Q times in response to someone else who has Qs that don't fit their own narrative. I don't think anyone is really lying though. At least I'm definitely not. I can literally hit ready up on killer, go take a quick piss, (Yes I wash my hands. Do you know how many people don't wash their hands after using the bathroom?) and by the time I come back I'll already be loading into a game. Don't even get to see the survivors I'm playing against but honestly I dont really care because I'm not one to cherry pick my matches anyways. Even if it's 4 toolboxes or whatever. Couldn't care less.
I don't want to say people are lying either, I just notice it often seems to correlate directly with their beliefs on game balance. I prefer to attribute it to regions and time. Mainly regions. I just have to assume Europe has really short survivor queues or something, where as West Coast US has them extremely long.
-
Why add in the villain of the third game and not the villain and character the series is named after?
"But several games in they reveal he's the mastermind!" I mean, I don't care and neither do 99.9% of people. If you're gonna make a FNAF chapter, anyone but Freddy is silly, because you need to drum up hype from non-FNAF fans. And some non-fnaf fans will recognize Freddy. Only FNAF fans know who springtrap is or his significance. Putting him in over Freddy is akin to making Doctor Wynn the killer and not Michael Myers for the Halloween chapter, because he ends up being the true big bad like 6 films in.

But you'd think this is the most toxic and OP perk in the game if you read the forums (when people aren't complaining about Dead Hard which also is just strong but not OP)
The game counts a 2 inch fall as a high spot
-
Because he would be the least identifiable licensed character in the game. No one but fans of the series know who he is. He isn't even the title character and doesn't even show up until multiple games in. Might as well bring in Doctor Wyn from Halloween, instead of Michael Myers.

No, it didn't address the issue and was clearly a slap on the wrist change in a hope to shut killers up and create the optic of actually caring.

Yeah the community is really overreacting about this one.
A. It tells you they have it when you pick them up
B. Just walk down the stairs, it's really not a big deal
C. I know there's an infinite but they could put a hook up there, it's not the fault of the perk
It's not a bad perk don't get me wrong but if you want any value out of it you have to make entire builds or play styles around making it work and that's taking up so many of survivors resources just for a chance to wiggle off. Not worth it at all.
I see you have never used balanced landing before. The games spaghetti code makes it so that "great height" is extremely inconsistent. The game might count a 3 inch drop as a great height, and it might count a 10 foot drop as not being from a great height. Generally it's pretty hard to know. Since it is inconsistent and doesn't really follow any logic, the killer simply has to assume any drop, no matter how small, will stagger, since the killer can't actually know if it will or won't stagger because it's so inconsistent.
The staggering should not be on the perk unless they want to fix the code so that "great height" means great height and not "fell half an inch off a pebble"
-
It's funny because it never got nerfed and actually got a buff.
-
Nerfs that make you go "huh?"

@ShinobuSK said:
For that they would have to acknowledge there is a deficit of killers, which they didnt do.
So as far as devs are concerned, surv/killer ratio is fine
They didn't admit it but they might as well. They were asked the question on what the ratio was and the dev answering bent over backwards to not answer the question and giving lots of reasons he couldn't while kinda getting off topic and answering everything but the question. To me, that signals that there is a very big gap and they don't want us to see or really know. If the gap was small/it was almost equal, why would they not show us? There'd be no harm and it would completely shut up the "Killers are leaving" narrative. It kinda tracks that, if they are dodging a question and don't want to answer, then there's a reason. I pretty much took that non-answer as a "It's bad" response. Feels like it would have been better if they didn't take that question.
I am sure they are aware things aren't great behind the scenes but do not want to say such to the players, which is understandable, really, as it's bad PR and doesn't really solve anything. No dev team is gonna go out and say "everythings screwed!" or something.
-
It's on but it can't function really because there's too few killer players, and it is set to prioritize speed over accuracy. So it often just forego's the entire MMR system in favor of quickly matching people, because it can't find an actual fair match in the MMR range being queued. So it expands until it might as well not exist.
-
Intended even though it's silly. I wonder if it's intended because they want it that way or if it's intended because of the way the game is programmed, and they can't really fix/change that part.
-
@AngyKiller said:
Your first mistake is thinking the devs even care enough about Killer to do this.
- Pentimento: A strong hex! Except it launches at literally the same time as Boons, which removes Survivors cleaning totems, which is what Penti needs. Clearly just a fake perk to appease Killers.
- CoH being OP as heck.
- The CoH nerf clearly being a hollow gesture to make Killers shut up without depriving Survivors of their OP perk.
- Boil Over being broken as all heck.
- The Quality Of Life wriggle change containing a Survivor buff because they literally can't alter anything in this game without giving Survivors something in return.
Sorry but this string of changes just scream 'We only like Survivors'. If this ain't the case, then someone needs to make them aware of this. Because as it stands, nothing in the past few months has been anything but repeated slaps in the faces of Killer players.
I've talked before about "optics." Even if the devs weren't intentionally doing these things and it's merely a coincidence that so many changes and additions seem to be aimed at making killer miserable, it still doesn't change the perception and optics of things. When a dev team nerfs bottom tier killers, buffs survivors in the same patch, and don't deal with issues people have complained about, it paints them a picture. You can't do the things like nerf clown, nerf twins, nerf nemesis, don't deal with DH, don't really deal with coh, give survivors a wiggle buff, give survivors broken perks etc in the same patch and then go "why do people feel we are survivor sided?!" even if one doesn't intend to come off survivor sided, people notice a pattern and it creates the optics of being survivor sided. Last year they buffed THREE META PERKS for survivor and nerfed like...one? DS. Which is still in almost every game so it's still very meta. Survivors get buffs they never even asked for and killers are quitting. Also, even in Q&A's dash killer hopes by confirming they have no plans to make things better. I think that's the worst thing they do. When they do Q&A's and answer any question that's "will you make killer better?" with "No plans!" "Not in the near future!" "No." it just sort of dashes the hopes people have and causes them to quit, because they may have been waiting for a change and when you say "Nothing is changing" they just give up and lose hope.
Killer has a balance problem, a fun problem, and also a morale issue where killer players feel so defeated that they don't want to play at all and they don't even want to stick around because they have lost all hope. Most other companies would be doing almost emergency updates to fix these issues, but behavior genuinely at times almost seems to enjoy rubbing it in peoples faces that killer is going to stay unenjoyable. And even if they don't intend it, their actions give that feeling, and no one is forcing behavior to do the things they do. Most of the things they do aren't even requested by anyone.
-
Almo used to. Though I don't think he has actually streamed DBD in half a year, last I checked his stream, so who knows if he still plays the game at all. Mclean also did, but he no longer works there.

Yeah, what's considered a great height isn't even a great height at all. That needs to be fixed along with Boil Over itself.
I knew it would be an issue and I was concerned the moment I saw that when the dev notes dropped. I knew it would be the exact same code as BL, and I've used BL. A 2 inch drop can count as a great fall for it. So I am not shocked it ended up being the same with this perk. A big issue is that the killer can't know if a drop will stagger them because it's virtually random. I have had sections on maps where a fairly large fall doesn't trigger BL, and I've had ones where the tiniest drop does. As a killer, if the survivor has boil over I will just have to avoid every drop, because I really have no way of knowing if the game will randomly decide a drop is from a "great height" even if it's a 2 inch fall off a pebble. It requires you to avoid all drops, even the smallest, because the trigger is so inconsistent and you can't really know what will trigger it, so you just need to play as if everything triggers it. It will not be fixed, because it's almost certainly the same code as BL and that has never been fixed. It just shouldn't be on the perk at all. If they can fix it then cool. But I really doubt it.

Did it near 2 months ago and have been far happier. It's pretty clear at this point that the only thing that will get the devs to fix killer is if the game literally stops functioning because the killer playerbase is extinct.

The 1 Toxic player per every 100+ non-toxic will never make me want to quit no matter how many trolls in comment seconts wil lie and say there are more than there are.
lol 1 per 100. Mate, every single game I play I see at least 1 survivor that is toxic, usually multiple. Every single game. A lot of it I have recorded, too, since I stream the game pretty much any time I actually do still play. I entirely stopped playing killer largely due to toxicity from survivors and how it was basically every game. If you don't 4k, you get taunted. Every. Single. Game. People ask why killers are "so sweaty for the 4k" it's because if even one survives, they will taunt and try to basically take your feeling of victory away, so killers feel they have to 4k so the one dude who escape doesn't get to rain on their parade and make them feel terrible despite 3k-ing or something. Meanwhile, I can't tell you the last time a killer repeatedly hit me on the hook or told me to kill myself in post game or blocked me in a corner. Denying the games toxicity problem doesn't help, nor does defending it as the community so often does.

Funny to me that they decided to nerf her that patch but also gave her the most trolly killer add on around. It's been a thing since the add on was put into game and it's way worse than Bubba face camp because you actually cannot do anything. You are beholden to luck and luck alone. There is zero the survivor can do to stop it. Bubba face camp, technically, could be stopped, and you had to go down first to even get to that point. You can do nothing about your key being assigned to a body blocked box, except die, and you didn't need to do more than load into the match to get your trap. It's not really an exploit though because it's not doing anything not intended by the add on. In the same way boil over abuse isn't an "exploit" it's just god awful design that shouldn't have made it in. The add on should be changed to not allow such a thing because it is genuinely one of the only "killer strats" I would genuinely call unfair and unfun. But as is, it's not an exploit or against any rule to do. It needs to be changed, but who knows when that happens. Thankfully, it's not an epidemic. I've never actually faced one though I know of them.
Still kinda funny the first time I saw it, though.

I don't like the rework of this perk but when we play killer, we are noticed of that (icon is showed). If you know that it's not difficult to avoid falling and if you see that the nearest hook is too far, just let fall the survivor and slug him (still better than a new chase).
I mean, yeah the perk is bad but don't need to harass player that use it or DC, just use your brain :)
This would work if this game was programmed well and the game didn't count a fall from a half foot rock to be a "fall from a great height." you can't really know for sure if any drop could stagger because the game cannot properly tell the distance of a fall. Have you use balanced landing? You can fall half an inch at the top of the basement stairs and it activates. It's not like the stagger is going to only happen if you drop 30 feet. Dropping off a tiny rock by a hill on like coal tower will likely do it. If it was consistent and programmed well, then that may be less of an issue. But it isn't programmed well nor consistent. Them taking longer to hook is abused by running to a section where it will be unable to get them there in time no matter what you do. Several maps have these. So, you can't drop down, and you can't go to a far away hook, so if there is no other hook or a dead zone of hooks, the survivor is immortal unless you throw the game to slug them and babysit for 4 minutes.
"Just slug"
I mean that's extremely boring and if you're going to tell me "well just have no fun and babysit a guy while his friends do gens" or something, I'm just gonna go play survivor. Shame about those queues though. Really a mystery why they keep getting longer every week.
