If you're a new player coming into Dead by Daylight, the bloodweb is an overwhelmingly frustrating experience because it only gets worse the more you play Dead by Daylight and unlock new content.
Here's a few things we could do to make it less frustrating;
- Remove perk tiers. All perks unlock "fully upgraded" which would reduce 2/3s of all perks you need to unlock for any character.
- Rework BP offerings to actually have value. Here's a shameless self-insert of a post I made with suggested changes. https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/174323/bp-offering-rework-idea
- Make it so that you can earn 32k in a trial without being locked behind 4 different categories would make it so that BP gain overall is improved for all players. More BP in the coffin means you'll progress faster in the Bloodweb.
Honestly, removing perk tiers would also deal with a lot of the problematic balancing we've seen when it comes to perks, too. I hope they at least consider it.

This time I am just confused as to what your intention was when saying this to me.
If its to call me smart, then thank you although I don't need compliments.
I must admit, it's pretty clear you're attempting to create a sense of superiority through your particular choice of words. Don't be that guy.

Yesterday I tunneled David because I was mad at him. He was hiding all match and I found him only at the end. While every survivor was already hooked twice, this son of a ######### was successfully avoiding me. And he pissed me off when he let Dwight die on hook. I was so far away from hook chasing Bill, But Feng and David let Dwight die on second stage in the middle of the map, where everyone could unhook him. Dwight was srtuggling to the last second. Sometimes I can tunnel on purpose if survivor piss me off this much.
Are you sure you not playing unfair to killer if you are getting tunneled EVERY game? This is really hard to get tunneled in this game, because vast majority of killers still playing fair. At least to me when I play survivor. Of course there is exceptions, but it's rare. Is it me lucky, or we are having different definitions for tunneling?
It's not hard to get tunneled at all. Plenty of killers only play that way.

I came back to DBD after a break and I've been tunneled to death in every game I've played, so far. I was excited to do the the new archive but I think I'm ready for another break after two days worth of being tunneled. I don't think there is a solution. I think the event is inspiring people to get as many points as possible and tunneling is an easy way to accomplish that. Half of the time when someone unhooks me, if anyone unhooks me, at all, it almost feels like they're working with the killer. I'm tired of being in the middle of everyones greedy point grabs in this game. It seems like this game is really fun for about 1-2 years and then you get stuck playing with the same tunnelers over and over and it gets really old really quick. Maybe I should just play killer and tunnel everyone too and then it might be more fun somehow? At least I wouldnt be wasting anniversary cakes bc nobody can tunnel the killer. I just don't think that seems like fun though. What does everyone else do when they get tunneled, seemingly no matter what, every game?
This happened to me yesterday:

It's just getting boring now. I'm Rank 2 survivor at the moment and have just had game after game after game of mismatches tonight. Just turned the PC off after playing three games back to back against Rank 14+ killers and after getting matched with Rank 14+ survivors.
Players who are new to the game are going to be discouraged from playing it if they keep going up against players who are considerably better than them. The fundamentals of the game should be near-flawless before you start pumping out DLC's, new maps and tons of other paid-for content. The game has been out for over 4 years and it's the same old issues time after time. Getting hit through pallets? Getting matched with red ranks after only playing the game for 3 hours? Getting hit through windows despite being 50 feet away? Audio bugs? Getting stuck in rocks? It doesn't matter because you can buy a Minotaur skin for the low, low price of $15!
-_-
Needless to say, I'm not all that enthused about playing this game at the moment...especially survivor.
-
Good question. I think they want to promote people watching fog whisperers, but simply found a bad way of doing it. There are fog whisperers of most timezones, so you'd definitely find one that streams at the right time for you...but if you don't like them? Tough luck.
It's a terrible system, and some fog whisperers will stop at nothing to stop you questioning how bad it is. (Seriously, I got silenced while watching one earlier when they were discussing this topic and I stated 'the system with the codes is stupid' and got silenced with no word for a day lmao

This. Matchmaking and bad teammates are the real killer. I play killer to relax after stressful survivor games
Exactly. I understand where killer can be stressful, but most of the time? I'm just playing against 4 people that would have been my own teammates, the majority of which always seem like they shouldn't even be in my game at all.
-
I feel the opposite way. Killer just feels like going throguh the motions and having fun doing it.
Survivor? Getting rank 16-20 teammates vs red rank killers ruins the experience; it makes it unplayable and frustrating. A bunch of maps have deadzones; some killers remove your agency as a player and you can't really mindgame them. Matchmaking is the game's own worst enemy lol.
-
@Rullisi said:
I'm having absolutely horrendous matchmaking too. Killers are too good for me

@Crowman said:
Honestly it shouldn't be that surprising red rank killers are 3King most games. The pip system itself makes it so killers have to 3K to stay in red ranks as even a 2K can mean a depip on some killers.
I've literally safety pipped at rank 1 as killer with 0 kills, because I got 8 hooks and delayed the gens well. I find it hard to depip for both roles, but pipping I find to be much easier as killer than survivor, too.

Recently had a match where I ran CI, and when I came to one of the blocked gens a player got up from it and the bloody thing had progressed to two cylinders already. All while the Entity was still wrapped around it.
Is it a bug or did I catch a cheater?
They probably spawned on the generator and instantly pressed M1; it normally kicks the survivor off it a moment after, when the Entity blocks the gens, but it's not hard to imagine a bug that stops it from kicking them off.

Dude how many of you guys just REFUSE to READ A DANG POST bewilders me. I LITERALLY SAID THEY HAVE NOT BEEN THE BEST. My whole point was that they have not gotten almost ANY credit for their achievements and they DEFINITELY don't have a community that understands the human brain nor reactions to pressure. Dude i swear people don't care for discussion. "They deserve credit" but they did this they did that. Which Totally gets rid of all the points I made. That is not how a discussion works.
I've defended them a ton, even when they've made huge mistakes, over and over. But right now the game is unplayable as solo survivor or as a PS4 player, and killer is boring because of the matchmaking giving red rank killers easy games.
I don't think I need to say what's wrong with the rift, since it seems it's going to be as grindy as Tome IV (they seemed to have learnt from the challenges, though) with the number of fragments we're getting per challenge.
I loved a lot of the changes that came with this patch, including a lot of the skins, but it became unplayable, so what's the point in new skins that you have to pay for?
We can give them credit when the game works as intended, because right now it looks like they put profit before game health.
-
Yes, they deserve some credit:
-They advertised nothing happening at all as an event;
-They broke matchmaking;
-They made the game unplayable for PS4 players.
Well done. :)

I’ve had two games tonight where nobody was using DS (I never do) and in both matches the killer would hard tunnel people off their first hook until they died. It’s so dumb that if there isn’t an Obsession, killers know they can just head straight back to a hook to down somebody again.
I’ve had a rank 2 Billy and a rank 2 Trapper both do it tonight. If you’re hooked in a dead zone, there’s literally nothing you can do.
You shouldn’t have to use a perk to stop your first hook from being your last. 🙃
I legit got (accidentally) sandbagged by a solo queuing rank 20 and then turbo tunneled on my last game tonight:
@SunderMun said:
Whatever was done to matchmaking; whatever switch was flipped last week, before reset happened, please for the love of god flip it back.
As killer, games are against people with barely any experience, (and when it is against people with experience, it's squads that are literally trying to make the killer RQ by stacking BNP's together) making it too easy to the point where I get very little points, and also just plain unfun. I don't want to find survivors around the edge of the map; I want to try and outplay them.
Survivor is borderline unplayable.
In red rank games...2 games in a row, I got rank 20's in my game.
The first, the game began with an odd bug where it showed one player as on the hook and everyone in the match was incredibly confused.
The next game, we got shelter woods and a red rank killer. I was in chase and a Feng randomly dropped god pallet on my face, then proceeding to slow vault it so that I got downed, right next to the basement. (She didn't do this on purpose; it was obvious she was brand new to the game) And there was no obsession, so I got unhooked and downed before I could even physically move both times. Idk if this is just to make the game experience better for killer, or what...but it's frustrating and downright boring.
Please, it can't be that hard to make sure rank 20's don't get put into games with red ranks. It's not fair for the new player, or the unfortunate people who solo queue into it.
There are ways around tunneling if you have semi competent teammates, but right now...matchmaking is #########, to put it bluntly.

7% increase for 2 mins on high level survivors is 100% game breaking. Everyone already complains about gen speeds. Know why that is? Because chases take to long. How much longer are chases going to take now. It was a stupid thing they did and youll see what i mean.
Game breaking and yet not meta by a longshot...hmmm...

You actually turned this building into a infinite again. Are you serious right now? You can't even keep chase to entity block the window anymore, that is how SAFE you made this tile. Doesn't even matter if you break the breakable wall, you can't even keep chase to block the window anymore, wow team, I try not to bash and harp in my posts but this is stupid. No tile should be so safe you can't even have the ENTITY BLOCKER TRIGGER.
There are no pallets inside anymore, and once the breakable door is gone, the infinite is gone and it's back to the way it was before the patch...but with no pallets right next to it...
Don't get me wrong, the breakable wall and removal of those pallets were both incredibly stupid decisions.

Fat trees are your friend vs bubba! Hug them as tightly as you can, and you can often outrun his chainsaw, but of course a good Bubba would try to mindgame this too. But sometimes it catches even the best off guard.

Yeah maybe it the killer should need to only get 4-6 hooks to get adept since a 2k or some configuration of 6 hooks spread amongst 4 survivors is what a killer should get per match. If they were to make you go above that no more than 9 hooks. Ideally, a 3K and it is more conceivable than double pipping.
Yeah, I think it's 9 hooks for iridescent, but it might be 10. I know it's not 12, at least...but it's a tall ask when sometimes you just can't find some survivors.
-
Speaking of adept achievements:
This game is fun. :) 5 times in a row I've gone against this stuff, when I'm trying to do the adept achievement of a killer I dont know lol. And the totem was in the killer shack next to a gen! :D
Edit: I earned it from a bully squad trying to annoy me; it didn't work, I won and double pipped...and then I realised, I earned this achievement back in august...

I had to try a good few times for adept Plague; Blight was easy since he's a strong killer, Undying gives good information and he's a point hogging killer.
That said, having to Merciless when survivors only need to escape...Nah, not a good system.
-
I miss the old look, but don't hate the new look.
There are no new tiles, so there's no way they added safe tiles outside of the god window being back until the killer takes time to break the wall in the Storehouse.
But that's a different discussion, which I agree with you on: breakable walls need to stop being forced into maps.

PS4 Pro here. Game is extremely choppy and framerate is definitely sub 30 fps on certain maps. Performance is absolutely worse than it was pre-patch, which still wasn't great depending on the map.
(Also, Kate's ponytail from her Rift outfit now floats when hooked, repairing gen, etc.)
It sucks, man. I get that this was a PC title originally and moving to console can be tough, but this game should be running at a stable 60 fps after 3(?) years on console; especially after they said over a year ago that they'd be optimizing it. At the very least, it shouldn't be getting worse.
Trust me, this game has issues with frames on PC, too.

Platform: PlayStation
This is from the survivor side, as I was playing as Nea. I just played a match with a spirit and I noticed that I could hear her normal breathing/voice when she was in the middle of a phase walk. At first I thought I was mistaken but sure enough two more phase walks and I can still clearly hear her both times.
I'm hoping this is a one off or limited to one platform at least because if this is widespread it really ruins the gameplay for spirits since in my instance I could easily dodge her just by listening to how close she was. Also if anyone else can let me know if they've experienced it too that would be great so I don't feel insane lol.
If I play against another Spirit and it happens again I'll make sure to put a video here to help out.
This actually means sound is finally working for her again; you're supposed to hear her footsteps and breathing, but most patches it's not present because of sound bugs.

Achievements that rely on other people are typically awful — Evil Incarnate is an excellent example of this. Salty survivors will too often DC from your matches, either because they're grumpy and want to avoid the mori, or are aware that you're trying for the achievement specifically and will DC out of spite.
Exactly my experience. I've literally earned this achievement 2-3 times but been cheated out of it by survivors DCing while I tombstone them, ending the game before the animation ended, thus meaning I only got 3 moris with the add-on. It's so frustrating.

I am going insane as a survivor. I feel like every killer is running this combo. It gives killer massive pressure ability in my opinion. Any ideas on counterplay? I play solo and am tired of getting stomped in the red ranks consistently by this.
If there's no tinkerer, split on gens. If there is tinkerer, stack on gens with other survivors so that the killer can't stop the gen from being completed.

Are you relatively new to the game? If so it might be worth learning what can and can not be done from content creators that primarily make their content around survivor gameplay. If this is up your alley, I can try to point you in the appropriate direction.
One hit killers are generally balanced, and it just requires you understand how they play, in order to know what you can do to get around those powers. If you play them, you might be able to better understand what's going on.
As for hiding? Iron Will is a great perk, and very meta for the reason that it both allows for mindgames midchase and can allow you to hide around the killer without them noticing. You shouldn't be trying to outrun a killer; you should be using the time in which they're making up the distance to find a new tile to loop and then use that loop in order to gain more distance (again, I can try to find a video example of this if you want)

Actually, no. Half the map is very rarely a deadzone, and when it is then the other half is usually full of the missing pallets. And on top of that, it was the OG hold-W map til Midwich, which alone makes it extremely survivor sided.
No, it almost always has mostly deadzones. Maybe it was once, but it hasn't been a hold W map for the last 2 years at least.

Clipping your way into a tree in order to get enough height to proc BL is not the most "obvious" thing I think when chasing someone. I don't care if they put naturally generated hills on that map but that exploit on that tree was dumb.
Noone clipped into the tree at all; they walked on the surface of its roots, which a killer could do too. Exploit my ass.

Not sure I'd call such a large map killer-sided just because it can potentially spawn the least amount of pallets in a very rare scenario.
Half of the map is always deadzone; it is killer sided and if I get it as killer, no matter my build, I'll win, because of this.
Edit: to be clear, this isn't me complaining; just saying it how it is.

Why is it a dumb "exploit"?
It's not like survivors could hold the game hostage with it or something else
Because it meant a killer might have to think about the way they chased on an already very killer sided map.

If the endgame chat is bothersome to you, you can always just hit the continue button before it even pops up. Better yet, give an option for people to opt out.
And while they're at it, they can fix it so it syncs properly, right now you don't see any messages that happened before you yourself entered the chat server, so you often miss out on some entertaining conversations, and sometimes even whether someone said "gg" or not. I watched a VOD of one of my killer matches and even though I'm the killer so I'm last out, I apparently typed "gg" too fast and it never appeared in their chat.
Idk how it works on console with regard to people sending you messages after, but on PC it actually has a button right next to the text box that allows you to disable it, and I think it remains disabled across games, until you decide to press it.

You'd have to be running a pretty low rank Killer if he's chasing you for 5-6 minutes bro.
Any half-decent or good Killer would know when to drop chase. 5-6 minutes lol.
That's my point, if you read through properly. I'm saying I shouldn't be getting killers I can run that long, and also shouldn't be getting survivors that only do 1-2 gens in that amount of time.
-
Yeah, this is my experience. I'll be found first, run the killer for 5-6 minutes, maybe 1 gen will have been done, and once downed, everyone is just immersing around, often in the edge of the map. And I very often die first hook these days, thanks to getting teammates that shouldn't be in the same games as me without queuing up with them myself, and with a killer who also shouldn't have gotten me.
I can normally tell if the killer is mismatched very quickly, but teammates...you don't know until it's too late. Unless you're on a gen with them and they repeatedly miss skillchecks. Which, again, I've gotten a ton since reset. xD

You're not wrong, but just speaking from my own experience, I tend to see more mismatched killers than I do survivors.
I think that has to do with there being more red rank survivors, tbh. But even so, it MM does some wild stuff.
Last week I was watching Otz, I'm same region as him, both rank 1. He kept instaqueuing, and getting rank 1 survivors. At the same time, I was queueing, and getting green rank survivors. There were clearly enough red rank survivors playing at the time, so why did it decide to give me such a mismatch? It's not fun when I get pitted against survivors who hug the edge of the map; it just makes me feel bad, because they never should have gotten me. I see the opposite happen aplenty too when I play survivor; it's so bad.
