Give it a new animation, remove/reduce the distance gained when using it, and make it give the survivor a special endurance/BT status effect that doesn't give them a speed boost when hit and only lasts for the duration of the animation. This would simultaneously nerf DH for distance and (hopefully) make it more consistent on dedicated servers.
No, thatd make the perk stronger. that would remove the baiting and timing aspects of it, i dont wanna be forced to have to hit them even more times whether they get a burst of speed or not, id rather wait a small bit than have to clean my weapon while they gaining constant distance to that strong pallet or loop. when the ms is in green DH works fine and youre likely doing it to late.
-
best way would be to reduce repair speed while injured, this way you wont get games where people never heal and it will award those people that hit multiple people and juggle all the survivors. doesnt need to be major but enough to make it worth healing so you arent a 1 hit and the gens dont take too much longer. this would make games longer, allow for more cases on both sides, more altruism etc.

I tend not to, but the fact that it can be activated while standing is an issue in and of itself considering the fact that in the perk's description it says it can only be used while running. The prompt for this post was admittedly a frustrating edge case but I feel like these issues have caused some survivors to escape when they shouldn't have. Idk though.
I tend to wait for it too.
im guessing you just had a rough game or two, which is common for killer, my advice just step away. the ability to use it without needing to be running x seconds shouldnt be a thing, they dont get huge distance and you kinda expect them to do it if standing still. the game gets stressful over time and easily as killer and after my 3years of owning the game this isnt a huge issue compared to so many of the other features, its a strong perk without a doubt but it is situational, doesnt cover huge distance and can be baited out without too much effort. dont let it get to you and try not to seem like youre wanting nerfs like others, i understand where youre coming from but overall the perk is fine, its just a good one compare to so many others

This isn't 'crying for a nerf'... This is someone asking for what appears to be odd edge cases to be fixed as they can unfairly alter the outcome of a match. I'm not asking for integral parts of the perk to be changed, I'm not asking DH to have a 10,000,000 year cooldown or make the survivor broken for the rest of the match, I'm asking for them to introduce a collision when using DH to avoid the perk being used in ways it wasn't intended to be used in. The description of the perk itself says that DH is to be used when RUNNING. Standing still and holding your run key isn't running.
I'm perfectly capable of baiting out DH, and I'm not complaining about it's core function here since I think it's a pretty decent perk, I'm saying they should patch up the parts of it that can be abused due to the way their game has been made.
No perk has ever intentionally let someone phase through another player, and no perk has intentionally allowed you to activate it without meeting it's activation requirements. This isn't a nerf, it's a fix and I'd recommend you actually read the post before you immediately think I'm asking for DH to be nerfed into oblivion.
Can I also point out you can't bait out DH from a person who is stood still? It's uh, not really a thing you can do.
well 99.9% of the forums are asking for nerfs, and so many people seem to cry that everything is so strong... personally iv never had an issue with dead hard and if i know someone has it i just dont swing and wait for it, honestly survivors will only wait so long before they panic. and like someone said before they go through you if you swing, this is due to killer and survivor moving so fast towards each other, if you dont swing you can block pallets/doors. as for the stand still thing the thats rare people do it and there must be a reason they are just standing there so expect it. you should always be prepared for DH, i have seen so many killers panic during a chase and swing too soon even though they know the survivor has DH
-
or you can just do what good killer do and bait it or dont swing? really not that big of an issue if you know they have it and you play around it. its a perk they need to be injured to use and let me honest they get to use it 3times per game unless you somehow lose them. stop crying nerfs, just get better jeez

Not me but a bunch of my friends had issues with the servers.
What's funny is the DC penalty did NOTHING to stop people from DC'ing. Every other game the killer DC'd no joke. And it wasn't like "oh maybe the server booted them" it was a clear and obvious rage quit when they couldn't catch someone or a few gens pop quickly or their totem goes down or they get DS'd with the exit gates open. Killers are such sore losers.
everyone still quit, theyre lucky the bans/servers was removed. that was a feature i really liked, was nothing more satisfying than seeing the same person quit multiple times and then seeing them waiting on youtube for the ban to go haha
-
On xbox i played about 50 games with dedicated servers and about 46 of those games stayed at 197ms ,at that point the games are pretty bad as you could of guessed. the other 4 games i had 64ms which was bliss but honestly they needed to go, i stopped playing due to those insane ping games/servers. like i dont pay the price i do for my wifi just to have ######### connection games anyway lol

TBH change his reload to faster or faster on successful hits, make it so he can break to hook to apply the mending effect. this way you arent wasting so much time reloading even if youre a great shot the reloading is a pain, its too much time for them to get to safe loops you need to break the pallet at. the ability to also break the hook whenever means you dont have to wait for ages for it to break if you know you cant get that survivor, no different to huntress hatchets in that sense.

Dont worry, we are still on PTB and changes can be made. I think the devs realize he needs some tweeks and will buff him
yeah true but the devs are always afraid of making a strong killer, personally i feel his reload needs to be faster by default or even make reloads faster for successful hits. whatever they do he needs something because i dont see him being worth playing at the higher ranks.
Pros:
- Can instant fire ranged attacks
- Even if the chain is broken you can get an injure
- he inflicts the mending effect
- he has a lower terror radius
Cons:
- has 1 shot before reloading
- forced to break so many pallets, regardless of aim you cannot hit people at certain loops
- slow speed means less map pressure
- long reload times my default
personally having a long reload after a hit or miss wastes alot of time, enough time for them to get to safe loops you cannot pull them round (huntress can down over them). sure hes good at catching at T & L walls but so is demo who has faster speed and ability to travel across map. i dunno he`s too weak compared to other killers, for a killer that takes more skill via aiming etc. and his lower speed i kinda expect a strong power to counteract the negatives such as nurse, spirit etc.
-
3rd, he`s fun to play but wont be strong. he`ll be a kinda weak killer like a few of the others sadly. its a shame he has my favorite style (western) and the look of him is great but hes way too weak (at least against good survivors) sure ranks are a mess and you do get so many red ranks that should be green as they arent very good but the killer himself has too many draw backs compared to positives

Oof on Kate, though you're right! I'd love to see some Cowboy styled cosmetics for survivors. Chances are we'll get some a little while after the new killer releases and his cosmetics release.
i would like to see it, could be a style shared between a few survivors. its like these Asian styled outfits we always seem to get, like theyre nice and everything but id like to see a change. plus i think some good outfits could be made for multiple of them anyway, but kate i feel should of already had a rodeo one (bandanna, shirt, jeans, holster, hat etc.) but the one we got is meh, i like me characters clothed and not looking trashy lol

I believe people who DC as a rage quit should be punished. But this new DC Ban process is not always fair:
A person I know had two disconnections: one due to the house electricity outage and then one from a 'known error' which popped up on screen.
For this = 4 hour ban.
He's so cheesed off he's considering playing other games.
I'm with him...but due to the horrendous match-making.
I'm a level 12 killer going against levels 1-2 and getting slaughtered. Absolutely no fun.
thats a complete lie, who tf do you think will believe 1 DC equals a 4hour ban? i have had unkown error, errors, powercuts and i can still play and after my 3rd powercut my ban was at 15mins so... but power has been fixed since and oh look, no DC`s since and no its all reset, funny how not quitting games does that. and you complain about the ranks yet half of those red ranks should be rank 10 anyway, god help you if you actually versed red ranks players, if they still play the game. hell i never see them.

Yeah I haven't dced anymore, I have the people Ive play with to back me up on it. 2 times this week and my timer was around 16 minutes even though the dcs are on different days.
And yes you are very right if they cant reset ranks like they ALWAYS HAVE DONE right, how can we trust them with a brand new system?
well xbox servers have been removed. and as a player who has had the game since its release on console i know the game doesnt always work as intended but you need to wait 12 odd hours to get the ban time reduced, its not a full reset nor should it be, so if you was sitting at 16+mins ban youll need to wait over 36hours, or just dont quit
-

Yeah it is harsh my friend once crashed three times in one day and my friend rarely dc and keep this in mind this was before the penalty was a thing but now I am seeing more issues happening in the game like that one killer that I played against he vaulted a window and after 5 seconds of chasing me he just teleported BACK to the window I don't know what it is but when the devs implanted the dc penalty the dc penalty broke something
no thats the dedicated servers, thats due to the insanely high 200ms servers we ended up with and has been removed because of it. really not harsh unless he crashes every day multiple times which he should probably look into fixing instead of blaming a game for banning him .
-
well i feel youre lying, i had a major bad power day, lost power multiple times which counted as DC`s, the final power cut was for 8hours. and i can still play fine, they also reset after 12 hours so either quit less or put up with the bans thats on you and no one else. quitting should be ban-able and by no means is it harsh, its like 1 min for the first dc then 5, 15 etc. so just stop quitting for a day or two and youre golden.
-
played the game since console release and been rank 1/2 on both sides since, honestly the worst update iv seen has been with the rank reset changes and ruin changes, way to easy as survivor now and everyone hits red ranks. im not quite sure how my rank and skill (can always hit great skill checks so i could do old ruin, i leaned tiles and maps so i can loop insanely well on all maps without the aid of perks etc.) is the same as those who never touch gens, cant lead on chases for more than 5 seconds. its both insulting and annoying, itf not fun playing a game with people who cant play at that skill level. i shouldnt be the only one on my team to do gens or lead on chases while everyone hides, its not fun or balanced. ranking needs to be harder as survivor.

Wow thanks for crushing my dreams dude...
Theres nothing wrong with not being red ranks, i honestly dont get why so many people want it so badly. you should play to enjoy the game not about just ranking. but youre upset you arent reaching red ranks, yet near everyone hit red ranks, i had people that lead on chases for 5 seconds, never touched a gen because they was so scared and overall just had no map sense. im not saying youre like that, im sure youre much better but iv been rank 1 for years, i know all loops, can always hit greats skill checks etc. i dont even use meta perks i just randomize, so imagine how it felt when suddenly iv got 3 teammates never touching gens. my advice, ignore rank, play for fun. games should always be about fun and no matter how bad your team is you should be able to pip and safety pip most games, if you come to a halt it doesnt mean youre bad just you can improve... thats all.
-
your logic makes no sense, this bug or old rank reset is better. if youre good youll rank up faster and get away from those players that arent as good. TBH it sounds like you are struggling to reach red ranks again, if thats the case then you shouldnt be red rank, i dont mean it in a mean way but whatever that other rank reset was terrible, this isnt perfect as everyone will soon get to red ranks but near the start it was bliss, i reached rank 1 within the first day or two, i couldnt stop double pipping damn it haha

i feel you there, luckily iv finished it but i honestly didnt enjoy any of the survivor challenges. like i play solo, its always the way i do but this just screams to do SWF, escaping is a team effort not a solo one so i dont get why they made a whole level about it. id personally prefer challenges linked to their perks. hell id even be okay with wacky ones like while using no mither heal two health states with solidarity in one match and just call it "im confused" (because the perks obviously dont go together). but escaping 14, how bland and lazy.

Yeah I saw the image another commenter posted, hopefully these are actually useful and not just a band-aid fix and wastes more time but actually fun. I can totally see this being fun with the Saw Bros and Oni, Demo might actually be scary with this.
yeah those are a great example, so once you see the type of style in the maps you will be able to see, im unsure if certain perks can revel them, they might at that to windows of opportunity but it would help much tbh. will be interesting either way and will make my wraith even stronger, i am curious if the chainsaws will break the walls. the way they phased it they can and thatd make them even more of a threat which will be interesting
-
they will be obvious which walls, the appearance will change depending on the domain (maps). will not be a scare action as there will be an animation, however there might be some examples where you have insane breaking abilities or killers like oni using his ability to smash the wall down as he charges to it, if youre on the other side that might be an "oh Shite moment"

Same I started doing it around level 2 or 3 last tome and it was helpful for levelling up Oni. Think you can get more than that but maybe I'm wrong. 1.9mil bp is definitely something great for the new killer lol
it depends on how the bloodwebs in the tomes act, this time around in level 2 i believe had 3 challenges in a row down a single path multiple times forcing you to complete more than normal but like you said its a great start either way! who knows might actually get some decent perks out of all the teachable ones haha
-
havent had a chance to play yet, but i cant wait.. the connection will depend on the server you match to but honestly as long as connection is more consistent and below 150ms ill be happy. most games ill be getting major bad latency so providing it lowers the ms great! plus DC bans! double great!
-
yeah iv planned the same, havent had a chance to play yet but i did this with the previous levels too so i think i have 500,000bp stocked already so new killer will get about 1,900,000BP straight away haha
-
doesnt affect anything. lobbies times are faster atm though due to the old rank reset which puts most people within 5 ranks of each other, if you played just after the reset lobby times was near instant, they will slowly get longer as the month progresses though.
-
good change, there wont be loads of breakable walls and it will have an animation, will defo make me run brutal more but its a good change, will make looping harder and will show skillful players that can adapt and loop without the need on insanely strong god loops which take x mins to stop as most killers. who knows might even fix the ranks a little stopping everyone getting to red ranks again. add-on change is kinda annoying but the game usually bug steals them anyway if i escape lol
-
took me 6 games, but i also dont like escape challenges... i dont feel escaping should be the aim for survivors. but killer side is pretty easy
-

the easiest way is play with a friend and break the totems and count them. Easy by yourself? bring a map or detective, i prefer a map so i dont have to waste an slot for that useless perk.
the perks good with inner strength etc. and i wouldnt really call it a waste, alot worse perks out there and lets be honest survivors dont need perks to do well

Actually some very good points. I knew about the thing about them not attending any game conventions this year (but honestly i was just hoping it was an exception). But like i said before, a original killer will be very cool aswell. Cant wait.
Oh dont get me wrong i really wish it was the cenobites, or even just pinhead would be cool (would rather to play as the chatterer though) but all the other trailers i have been able to guess so very easy when they have been licensed, after all i grew up on these films but either way im always excited when theres a new chapter. but im feeling its a male, average speed, tall and probably a strongman build. i would like his ability to use the chain to grab people though, be some cool tricks with that ability
-
so i hate to ruin your hopes but its not hellraiser (pinhead) and here is why.
- first of all usually when theyre getting licensed killers they attend gaming conventions to promote, this is likely to get more people to buy it to cover the cost.
- Second all other licensed teasers have been very accurate and very obvious to what they are, this however is a chain (ill go into why later on)
- Third we have already had 2 licensed killers this year (demo and ghostface) this killer is the 4th and final one of the year rotation
- Fourth the chain within the teaser acts nothing like they do in hellraiser, the chains within the films are usually all very fast paced unless there is a panning shot of multiple chains hanging from the ceiling
- Fifth, while chains are used in hellraiser and is easy to link to the movies a more iconic of the cenobites (pinhead etc.) is when theyre appearing, this is shown by a bright white light shinning through wooden planks.
dont get your hopes up, would be nice to have that license but not this time
-
there are things called totems, there are 5, cleanse them and easy. the seriously dont take long, there are perks to help you find them even a map or you can just learn the spawns. if youre all struggling doing the gens, leading chases and getting totems then you probably wasnt meant to escape so you should just move on? perks fine, its useful at the end and thats it which can be removed by just getting totems so i dont get why people complain...

>How does the auto-aim work and will you give us an option to disable it? (from @Stitch7833)
>As discussed earlier, “auto-aim”, also known as Aim Dressing, is really just a visual aid, not a mechanical adjustment, and does not give the killer hits they would not otherwise have landed. It is not an aim assist. Given that it is not a mechanical feature, there are no plans to make it a toggleable option, as it is part of the way they want to present the game.
That's what I would call a /woosh. People want it disabled not because it helps with hits, all it does is exactly the opposite (what was mentioned later on). It only helps with seeing hits better? Well, I've seen that "help" in a coffin.
i did mention about the missed swings due to the feature, i forget the name they use its been changed a few times now but obviously my question was shortened. my advice to you or anyone experiencing this lobby dodge survivors with questionable connection and that seems to fix the problem, its kinda annoying having to do that but it makes games more fun when it runs smooth. same as survivor, dodge the higher MS, might take longer to get in games but at least the features work correctly whether its swings, dead hard etc. i never realized this game was so majorly connection based, doesnt matter if your connection is amazing if the killer.survivor youre versing isnt. (note im on xbox still without dedicated servers so alot of killers/survivors reach 200ms easy)
-
i mean xbox still dont have servers and we get killers playing in hot spots or with connections of 150+ most games, yay us!
-
i would love a hellrasier killer, could be like legion in the sense of 1 power but multiple skins, that would be insane but its not likely to be multiple skins and we already had demo and ghostface in this years rotation and this is the last killer in that rotation so its likely original. i do hope the ability is to pull people back with the chain, i know its a very simple power but alot seem to come with 2 powers now and its a neat ability that isnt too crazy but allows for interesting plays. im guessing average speed, tall killer, male
-
the prices they charge are scams an over priced but the actual store isnt provided you visited the right store and not a fake one, many people in your other post did say the delivery is long. its also very unlikely that a company that produces games would set up scams due to the easy nature of suing them for big bucks. be patient, go through the proper procedures, get your bank statement and proof of purchase even if its just the money leaving your bank and wait
-
new killer will be B tier at best for balance reasons as survivors cry too much
-
@JamieLee2k said:
It doesn't matter, once they change to the new ranking system it will be obsolete
you know they will still likely base your rank on how well you do in the trial so objectives, chase etc. the new change will likely just be so if youre miss matched you dont rank up/down as much if you go against people who arent your rank

All that does in my eyes is simply change the narrative the emblem system is trying to enforce. "Oh, you succeeded, but because you played this way and not this way, we're not going to reward you properly" is not a system I am okay with.
so you arent okay with a system that awards those that play better? that makes no sense though? you cant have everyone hit the same rank but them not have the same skill? in no way will it punish people on how they play, but in turn make them understand inorder to reach the top ranks they need to improve in X category, if you allow people to reach top rank by playing the same and never improving then why even have a rank system, its meant to show skill and knowledge of the game. if you arent as skilled you will go against killers your skill level making your games enjoyable and to that level of skill, this is why so many people scream nerfs because instead of adapting and learning how to get better they feel they should be forced to play a certain way... but thats online ranked games...

I think a majority of Survivors escaping means winning. Beyond that, I think it is possible to balance the idea to make sure that the Survivors who put in the work are the ones who reap the most benefit, regardless of win or lose.
Not really, all they would need to do is alter the emblems slightly, remove the amount of points from one category into another. i try to avoid SWF and at most id play with my brother, while he isnt great at chases what so ever i am, i have lead multiple chases where he can solo 2 gens, but i dont feel rank mean anything if people that hide and cant do chases achieve the same rank as those who can lead on chases and do things that require more skill and i feel thats why i never minded going against ruin, i could hit it every time, i learned to do that i also learned totem spawns if my teams was struggling, but now gens take no skill yet even less gens get done due to players that arent able to lead chases all going down in a few seconds

Not if them not saving you means they don't win.
if you think escaping means winning then thats your problem, i have had games were i have tripled the score of people escaping while i have died. it should be based on your own skill and what you do in the trial not how many times you can escape, that will create selfish players, more people dying on first/second hook, make keys more OP and make SWF carried i dont see how keys, swf or selfish plays show skill
-

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1090000#Comment_1090000
What the hell? You want swf to be carried even harder? A survivor's rank should be determined by their skill, no questions asked.
agreed. SWF is too easy as it is, not only that if it was based on people escaping so many people would just bail and refuse to even attempt to save you, even more so at endgame
-
@bubbasbasementchest said:
I agree that Chaser should be the most important, but why is Survival at the bottom? Survival should be secondary, because the goal is to escape the trial. That’s why so many red ranks refuse to do gens and just unhook everybody they see, because it gives so many points. This way the focus will be on doing the overall objective in the game, escaping.
but objective and chaser is at the top so if people do good chases and do gens youre more likely to survive, but i feel thats a team effort to escape not a solo, rank is based on a solo players skill and not the teams, also if the killer doesnt slug for the 4k i dont feel the hatch should award huge survival as that person could of hid most of the game yet still escape anyway
-
@Waffleyumboy said:
Altruism is riskier than gens, shouldn't objectives not be higher than altruism?
i think you got that mixed up at the end, and no, objectives is the aim of the game... while saving people benefits you the killer isnt always gonna be camping the hook to make it hard, i feel altruism already awards too many BP and is too easy to gain an iri emblem in it. i feel thats a huge reason why ranks are a mess with no consistency as too many people are boosted by hook saves, i dont mean that in a horrible way but chases show the most skill and objectives is the aim of the game and awards very little in comparison
-
i like chains
-
both should give less point, generators and chases are the key parts in the game yet half the red ranks cant even seem to do those now and just hide or expect others to do the work for them. totems should give BP in survival not boldness.
-
people need to realize way too many people have hit red ranks, alot of red ranks would actually be 10-15, they cant lead on chases, they dont do gens and they hide most the game... its down to rank issues of survivor being too easy to pip without doing good chases etc. everyone is red rank now and thats the issue not lack of players
-
you win some you lose some, you was unlucky to get survivors that do gens... i cant seem to get those team mates in my games... try not let it get to you, i know its annoying but alot of these red ranks should be green ranks at best and no one would of expected better of you. but tbh if you killed them then youd get so much hate an get called a wall hacker like i did haha
-
well after so long of playing the game iv learned enough not to rely on perks, i just use whatever there is and still been outplaying everyone. it also makes it more fun to mix it up each game, but i do play less and less due to these messed up ranks... like i dont wanna be mean but alot of these people shouldnt be red rank
-
like im not trying to moan but xbox feels like its not getting much attention, things are a mess, ranks are a joke no one even touches gens or can lead on a chase, connection is so inconsistent, lobby times arent fun to just get dodge to have your timer reset, having DC`s so common... im losing interest and hope fast, im struggling to even wanna load up the game atm because of ll these issues... wish they would be more open about dates and information
