But is it really as bad as it was on the PTB?
Not at all. It is more noticeable but not as bad as in the ptb.

OP: And again trying to sell us the "billy was balanced" argument, this is gets really tiresome lol.
A killer with easy map pressure, instadown and a lot of other things is "balanced" yeah sure.
Please read the entire post before commenting, thank you. Besides, im not trying to sell you anything, i honestly couldn’t care less if you think Billy was too op before the nerf. We clearly have different opinions, which is totally fine. And please, read the edits made in the og post.

As far as i know, it is only the community outfits that will be available in the store, ’demonslayer’ for feng and another outfit for david and these were said to release in the store minimum 6 months after their initial release. All other outfits will remain exclusive to the rift and are not coming back, i believe.

They only reverted one of the 2 changes they made to his kit after his PTB release (this being the dissipation rate, his heat gain rate is the same). I agree that something needed changing because they basically gave him a limitation to his chainsaw that never even activated unless you forced yourself to. While I do think overall that the Overheat mechanic isn't necessary on Billy, if it's here to stay it might as well actually do something rather than be a pointless addition.
The devs are gonna need to just monitor their changes & make sure they can find a sweet spot for Billy & his new mechanic. I don't think this hotfix will be as debilitating to him as some seem to think. It will give his Overheat some purpose though & actually in theory would buff his one yellow addon that reduces his TR when overheated. In the end, I think Hillbilly will be fine & that people are currently just overreacting.
You are absolutly right; i should’ve tested him properly before posting on the forums and whining about the changes. He is still great, and not at all as bad as some made it out to be (cough me).

Good thing I got stbfl for new billy before the first nerf.
Jokes aside, what did they do to him again? Haven't played today so I haven't read the patch notes.
Basically the heatmechanic is worse then before, it isn't bad while doing the sprint but it does fill up quickly when revving.

Good. That's how it should be. Being able to down 4 survivors in quick succession is OP (with the except of Bubba's power if all 4 survivors are in the same area, they deserve it). Besides that exception, no killer should have the power to get 4 instadowns one after the other
The thing is, the potential is ALWAYS there. Nurse can do this aswell, the thing is it still requires a heck of a lot skill if you are gonna down 4 people who are decent at the game just with the chainsaw.

well balanced he wanst soo balanced ppl will reply saying you dont know anything or youre survivor main but i will say it hes top tier and yes hes good cuz of hes insane map preassure he can chainsaw all over the map without limit or cooldown now i dont know what nerf they did put today since they told me it was bad
True he was top tier, but that doesn't mean he wasn't balanced. I would say out of all top tier killers he's probably the most balanced out of them, hence i dont understand these nerfs.

Yeah the crux in both of them do kidna hurt to work with, and BIlly is really difficult to play as, you can easily lose a chase if you miss a hit, he's very challenging to master, but I hope they fix it back before 4.1.1 without the severe changes
Exactly my thoughts. Billy is fairly difficult, especially with the precise curving. Most use him to get around quickly throughout the match, but now we can't even do that. Just tried it out and the overheat will make you require addons if you want to use it efficiently IMO.

I think the crux with Billy is that the devs try to make him different from bubba, whom he is a proxy/expy off.
One way would have been to give billy a leatherface skin and not make them two separate killers, but here we are.
Would the community actually mind if those two would play neigh identical, mechanics and all?
Despite both having a chainsaw, i have always found their gameplay to be incredibly different. I really hope that isn't the reason for bringing in these changes.

@Victor_hensley said:
The purpose of it was to punish players that misuse it (m2 only billy, dashing forever), but now it's punishing players for just using his power. Where's the flashlight cooldowns? What about punishing gen-tapping for newer players? Why do pallets not break after being used too much? Why are killers punished for using what they are given, while survivors can abuse items and game mechanics with little to no cooldown?
I'm not asking for killers to be dominant, but jeez, no wonder why after 4 years, this game is still unbalanced. You guys can't even make up your minds!
My problem is that it feels like they want to make him add-on reliant, which i think no killer should have to be. I can't get my head around why they needed to tweak it further, especially when they said in the first changelog that they were "otherwise happy with how he was performing". Billy did receive a nerf with the change, it stopped him from using it all the time, and also makes facecamping impossible, which i thought seemed enough for a killer they seemed to be happy about. Seems like that wasn't enough.

They said 6 months to 1 year. However, in an update a couple months ago, they said the two community outfits would be available in the last patch. Perhaps they changed their mind or forgot about it.
Strange. Must've changed their minds or just delayed it for further notice i guess.

Minimum, no maximum.
Fingers crossed it'll be soon but I'm not sure when and we've got no further official information.
I hope so too, never managed to get it through the rift, so im hoping on getting through the store when it releases. Would be nice to hear from a dev on this.

I don't remember anything like that.
All I know is that these outfits:
-Will be available with shards
-Will be available at minimum 6 months after their official debut in the rift.
So fairly soon? Hasn't it already been like 6 months since the tome?

I need to air my frustration. I realize nothing will come of this, but it will at least let me feel a little better to vent this out.
The following does NOT take into account any add-ons; this is strictly speaking about Killers' base abilities.
All stealth Killers have some semblance of a "draw back" while they're in stealth.
- The Wraith must ring his bell to de-cloak before he can attack. During the de-cloaking, his speed slows and a bell rings to give the Survivors a moment to react.
- The Shape cannot lunge or reach any level of bloodlust while in Tier I of The Evil Within, to balance the lack of a red stain and virtually no terror radius.
- The Pig has reduced speed while in stealth and squeals before her lunge attack, or an audio cue of her weapon unsheathing will happen if she goes out of stealth, giving Survivors a moment to react.
Then we get to Ghost Face:
- While in stealth, Ghost Face has no red stain or heartbeat, maintains regular movement speed, and can instantly attack you while in stealth; there is no "cool down" or momentary "pause" before he attacks in stealth mode to give the Survivors' a moment to react.
I personally feel this fundamentally breaks core mechanics of the game. The terror radius and red stain are the two primary indicators to let a Survivor know when/where a Killer is, to react accordingly.
Stealth Killers negate these fundamental mechanics of the game by design--which is totally fine--as there is a "draw back" to coming out of their stealth abilities (see above). But Ghost Face breaks all these design philosophies to a fault.
There's a lot of balancing issues with this game, I know, and some are arguably more important to address before others, but man... Ghost Face, to me, is just beyond frustrating to play against in the grand scheme of things.
Now that I got that off my chest: I love DBD and the dev staff. I admire how far you've come with this game and grown as a team/studio. <3
There are people who think ghostface is overpowered? Wow, if anything, he needs a buff IMO.
-
I think the black girl is the original design of Meg Thomas, and the white girl hanging in the basement is Claudette. I believe they were race-swapped in the release of the game. Im not sure bout the other ones.

So, I know a lot of the comments on this forum that seem negative are coming from a place of love, because people love this game and they just want it to get better, but sometimes it can become overwhelming constantly seeing posts that are simply complaining. It just comes off like none of us appreciate any of the work the developers etc do for this game, which obviously isn’t the case, because no matter what things could still do with some fine tuning, we’ve had a great game for a few years now and even with its faults, I can’t stop playing. This is the game I’ve been wanting for the longest time. As a massive horror fan, being able to play as or against absolute icons like Michael Myers and Leatherface is just incredible to me. So, I want us to have a thread to bring some light into this (at times) dark forum. Let’s post about some memorable moments that we’ve encountered or just reasons why you keep coming back to this game.
I’ll start:
1. I love having a game that I can play with friends, as this is one of the few games that we all enjoy playing, so it’s great being able to have a good laugh whilst playing together.
2. One of my goals is to get everybody to P3, so having that to work towards keeps me coming back and it also stops the game from getting stale, as even when I do reach that stage, there’s always new killers and survivors on the way.
3. Encountering friendly killers using Iron Maiden, as hearing people constantly screaming from across the map leaves me in stitches and it’s a nice break to have games like that from time to time.
4. CUSTOMISATION. I am a huge fan of this AND I am taking sole credit for keeping this game afloat with how much money I’ve spent making my characters look pretty and shiny. (You’re welcome guys. I don’t really like praise, but I will accept gifts.)
5. Daddy Myers.
6. Hearing Claudette, Jane and Jake get downed, electrocuted or intoxicated. I laugh every single time. Even when I am the one playing as those characters, I just can’t help but chuckle at the noises they make. Kudos to the voice actors. I doubt your intention was to make us laugh, but it’s truly created such a good experience, as it can lessen the tension in a game and make being downed less of an annoyance.
7. Killers having unique abilities. I love that I don’t know what to expect during each match. Do I have to be wary of traps? Can I be one-hit downed? Does the killer have stealth? Are my perks useless against this killer? Is my item useless against this killer? I just love the unpredictability and again, it creates an environment that doesn’t become stale to me.
8. Again, Daddy Myers.
9. Finishing a game with 5 gens left standing. Rare, but so satisfying.
10. Yeeting off a hook to just get knocked straight back down instantly. This would probably annoy most, but me being as weird as I am. Can’t help but laugh when this happens. It’s just so ridiculous in the best way possible.
I could go on and on, as I’ve had a lot of memorable moments in this game, but I don’t want this post to turn into a J. K. Rowling novel.
But, to sum up. I honestly love this game and I am excited to see where it goes in the future. I’ve pretty much been here from the start and I don’t intend to go anywhere anytime soon.
What are some of your best memories / favourite things about the game?
I just love the frequent updates, keeping the game fresh and new. It actually feels like developers care for once for their game, and keeping the fans happy.
-
I personally don't think she needs a buff, since she still is a very powerful killer if played right, however i really feel like she needs to be more fun to play. Having to look down in the floor 90% of the game takes away all the fun there is for her. I honestly just think she should be reworked completly IMO.
-
IMO Oni is the one of few killers who is perfectly balanced.

He has zero map pressure. At least Legion can move around quickly enough. He looks cool, his power looks cool, his mori looks cool, but lets be honest. He isn't viable in the higher ranks. Again, no map pressure.
Well, hopefully thats something that gets a buff after the PTB then.

The devs stepped up their game when the Demogorgon was released, a simple power that was straight to the point that seemed bad at first but when explored he showed a lot of depth and strategy, creating one of my favorite killers in the game. The Oni was next creating a fearsome killer that turned into a chase god after gathering a large amount of blood, leaving a balanced killer with strengths and weaknesses. And now, the Deathslinger, I have only played 2 matches with this killer and holy ######### this guy is crazy, it's everything I want in a killer, a basic power that is straight to the point, but when explored shows depth and strategy with major strengths, and major weaknesses. Another KILLER job with this new one devs, Bravo.
I agree! The new killer may seem underwhelming and basic at first, but i think when you get to play him properly he is much more advanced. I like the new killer.

So thats where Jake got his hat from...

Is it just me or does it seem like you almost want the chain to be broken by the survivor? If the survivor breaks the chain then they are injured and broken. If you reel the survivor to you and hit the survivor then they are just deep wounded. Sure, you are stunned but it won't be long.
Yeah, the stun is minimal. I agree.

It's my dream to have an old lady. But now it's likely the next one or two survivors will be male so that's unfortunately gonna have to wait.
This is the exact reason they should add Laurie Strode cosmetics that represent her in the newest halloween movie. Talk about badass mom in her 60's.

This is just a part of the balance needed after the ruin-nerf. Killers won't be op, they will if anything be fairly balanced together with survivors. The change hasn't even been shown in action yet.

No. They don't put up the download until it is up because once people download the files, they can extract the information, so it would effectively leak everything prematurely.
Yeah, that makes sense. But does everyone need to download the full PTB version of the game everytime when a new PTB comes out, or is it like an update for those who already downloaded it before?

Thank you for that very explainatory response. Especially loved the long answer.

Exactly. Corrupt intervention can easily be waited out.

Since we will get soon the new Chapter with new perks, I would like to see your hopes what perks we will get maybe. I personally would love to see a perk that effects not dropped pallets in any way. Maybe kinda something like cruel limits for pallets?
Tell me your ideas what kind of perk you would like to see? A perk maybe that effects if you see the Killer as Survivor? Like a reverted spine chill? A perk that effects if you sabo hooks? Something like a Inner Streangh for hooks?
For survivor, i really hope for a perk that disables scratchmarks for some time. I know there already is a few in the game, but none of them honestly help that much in a chase.
For killer, i would like a perk that can slow early game down. Sorta like a ruin but only for the beginning of the game. Kind of to help you get started.
