  • I too used to do YouTube edits (StevoTheTroll) from my PS4, used ShareFactory, which is free (though stuff such as themes can be purchased within it). Did the job rightly for what I used it for, though it was sometimes prone to crashing. I have since moved over to twitch (StevoTheTrolll) as streaming is more enjoyable from my perspective. Only really have time to stream weekends currently but hey it’s better than nothing. Editing on PS4 isn’t very easy and compared to PC pretty limited, though respect for editing on it.

Agreed, but the devs decided to make it so it calculates the medium rank and base it on that

    :(

It doesn’t even do that correctly either. Yesterday me (Rank 10) and two friends (Ranks 16 and 13) faced killers exclusively in ranks 20-18. Day before when it was me and the Rank 16 friend it was the same again. By that logic, we should have been facing yellow or green rank killers, but that was never the case.

Matchmaking hasn’t ever been this game’s strongpoint - clearly that hasn’t changed.

Still feel bad for stomping noobs when all I wanted to do was play with friends - bad luck on their end since my two friends hadn’t played since rank reset.

Personally I don’t think that anyone who has gotten out of the newbie ranks should be allowed back in them, regardless of how long they haven’t played for. Shouldn’t be able to match with anyone below R15 since they’ve played the game at least to a point where they understand the basic mechanics of the game. Definitely something BHVR need to look into sooner rather than later.

  • Congrats on the Platinum!

Personally when I was doing it I found “From the void, she kills” to be the hardest... then again I got Adept Nurse prior to the emblem system being introduced so my experience is probably a lot different to yours with that particular trophy.

Welcome to the Platinum Club nonetheless! 🎉

  • This is one of my favourite clips from my twitch streams (Play on PS4, though I do have a steam account - shares the name I use here, however the Profile Pic for twitch and steam are the same)

    https://clips.twitch.tv/CleverDependableHippoBudBlast

I have quite a few more but this is my personal favourite!

  • This is indeed an issue (on Console at least) and has been for so long that these forums weren’t even in use at that point. I’ve reported it at least three times in the past, best we got was a fix that lasted about two patches before it broke again.

I'm pretty sure it’s to do with the killer disconnecting by any means that isn’t the leave match button. It sucks when it happens especially when the killer is causing a game to be a complete waste of time for those unfortunate enough to still be participating. Not much can be done I’d imagine at this point.

  • Hey, if it makes you feel any better, I got reported for using my ears as a means to locate a survivor with crows hiding in a locker. Was playing Nurse (PS4) because why not and this Kate thought that on her last hook (after getting found by BBQ twice) the best play was to hide in a locker for quite a while. I happened to hook someone pretty close by and heard the crows just as I was leaving. Got a voice message post game saying I’d been reported with video evidence lol.

Best thing to do is ignore them. Basic counterplay to perks isn’t reportable, otherwise literally any survivor who uses lockers to counter BBQ, throwing pallets early to avoid Spirit Fury, stuff like that and same elsewhere on the killer side for things that can be countered without perks or addons would all be reportable. Nothing wrong with waiting out DS. Still... odd that they want you to tunnel them considering they usually complain about tunneling in general 🤔

  • I personally think the console (Standard PS4 at least) frame rate has gotten considerably better with the last update, it seems much closer to 60 than it ever has on all maps. I can’t vouch for everything you have mentioned (I don’t play Doctor or Myers) but it seems to have been a very good patch regarding optimising the game.

Bloodlust lag doesn’t seem to be as prevalent as it was and like I said, all maps - in my opinion at least - have seen a huge improvement, this is talking about both as killer and survivor.

  • Pretty sure I saw @Peanits say in some other post it would be out soon for PS4 and over the coming days due to a hurdle of some sort for Xbox. (Correct me if I’m wrong)

So I was playing with a friend last night, running my usual build for BP (Self Care, WGLF, BT and WMI) and during these games I played my friend got killed because of either a bug or something I'm not aware was changed. In any of the recent patches, was Borrowed Time changed to be completely negated by instadowns? This happened on two occasions and both were against Leatherface (chance it could be just him, haven't had people to test with for other killers since it happened). It had never been like that, so I'm wondering is this a bug or a change I wasn't aware of?

Borrowed time saves you only from the first hit, if you get hit again then you are down.
My guess is that your friend got hit twice by bubbas chainsaw

Yes, I've already mentioned that they got hit twice. I have also mentioned how, if I'm not mistaken, there should be a buffer period where you can't get hit during an unhook? Am I not right in saying that? If I am, my friend should have been able to take 3 hits and not 2.

    @Mc_Harty said:
I heard rumours that if BT user gets hit, it'll immediately end the Endurance timer for the hooked survivor.

That would make sense actually as that did happen on both occasions, so it could well be that too.

  • @TAG said:
Most likely bugged as the other people here said, but out of curiosity, was the Leatherface running Insidious?

Yes in one of the two instances and we were aware that he had it, but at the time of the unhook he was not standing still, nor was he doing so immediately beforehand either, so insidious couldn't have activated.

Borrowed Time has failed to activate within the killer's TR a couple times since the latest patch.

    This

It is very unreliable, sometimes it gets activated and sometimes it doesn't work at all. I got rescued by a borrowed time user and immediately went down against a camper trapper, he was really close.

I stopped using borrowed time for now.

So basically the perk is busted and works random% of the time now? Seems like not a half bad excuse to substitute Adrenaline in for it for now at least. At least from what you've said it confirms that it doesn't matter what killer you're against. It can happen any time.

  • @brokedownpalace said:

Good to know. At least I can now for the most part confirm that this is a bug. I can only assume that it has already been reported if people already know about this being a thing.

  • @Vietfox said:
If you rescued your friend within the terror radius and still got downed probably it's because got hit twice with the chainsaw.

Yes, I'm aware of that. That's what should have happened. If I'm not mistaken though, isn't it true that you can't get downed immediately from being unhooked? The perk never activated on either occasion (no timer after being hit the first time), which would make me think that yes, the thing I previously mentioned has worked as intended. After getting hit the second time however, which was only seconds later, the perk simply didn't activate.

I should also mention that in one scenario the gates were powered and the other there was still one gen needed.

    Firstly: Paragraphs are a thing.

Secondly, not everyone uses "Third Party Apps". Specifically Console Users - which judging by the tag you've put, you're a PS4 user. PS Party is a thing.

Thirdly, "Show killers who is together and who isn't". That's a disaster waiting to happen if I've ever seen one. Good luck finding a lobby with friends. You can't just say "Oh yeah I've seen this particular thing occur to one side from both perspectives" and then proceed to not think of the repercussions for the side which the problem doesn't affect. That would be the devs shooting themselves in the foot at that stage.

Fourthly, just because people do flashlight saves and bodyblocks doesn't mean they're automatically a SWF group. Don't get me wrong, in a decent amount of cases it is, but by no means always.

Fifthly, Matchmaking is trash when it comes to SWF groups. There doesn't seem to be any set pattern as to what it pairs you with. I play with two friends usually, both in double digit ranks, while I happen to be rank 1. We've been paired with literally anything between ranks 11 and 2. That's an inconsistency in matchmaking more than anything.

Sixthly, there's plenty of tools to help against this sort of thing. While forcing you to use certain perks as killer isn't really a valid point to make, if it's that specifically you have a problem with, consider gaining access to any combination of the following perks:

    • Agitation or Iron Grasp for reaching hooks
    • Franklin's Demise or Overwhelming Presence to generally stop usage of items
    • Lightborn specifically for stopping blinds from Flashlights
    • Save The Best For Last or Unrelenting to allow you to use your Melee attack quicker
    • Hex: No One Escapes Death to allow you to 1-hit down anyone once the last generator gets completed (provided a dull totem is still available).

I'm sure there's more than that which could benefit you, but this is at least something to help with your specific issue.

TL;DR - Your argument about killers getting bullied is only partially valid (in my opinion at least), the repercussions that would have on the fanbase would be much more severe. Try using different killers or perk combos to prevent such things happening to the best of your ability.

Thats my opinion on it - won't see any replies for a while, though I'll try to respond again if I find any time to do so tomorrow.

I agree with the perks but they won't always work. Have you been a killer and been bullied by a SWF team? If you have you will know how bad it is. Communication puts you a mile ahead of the killer, anybody can see that, you could be rank 20 only had a few games online and if you are with a friends who are decently good at the game, and you are communicating in whatever way, you have a massive advantage.

Im not saying every SWF team are bad by any means, but in my experience on PS4, majority of the SWF teams are out to annoy you in the worst way possible.

The perk issue even with iron grasp on, if you are being blocked by 2 or 3 other players that still won't help you. Why should I have to remove a perk I really like for iron grasp because of professional body blockers ?

Also about the communications thing, dead by daylight don't have in game communication do they? I wonder why? Maybe because with it you can talk around the killer so very easily.

Another pattern I have found out from watching streamers of dead by daylight is when I'm watching a certain one which is usually SWF player, when they do a day where they play alone,  they generally did bad, that's from what I have seen anyways, because they can't play alone because they don't have somebody to talk with to back them up, that's why solo players will always be better than SWF players because once you're in a routine of speaking to you're friends to come get you, flash the killer, body block, and when you play alone and don't always get that, that's when you realise it'll be harder, I'm not saying that for everyone because I'm sure they are both good solo players and SWF players, this is just my experience from playing on PS4

Also to address you're point, "it would be a disaster waiting to happen", it wouldn't be really would it? Making it so the killer has a choice to play with a SWF team who are potentially going to bully you and be toxic to you, atleast you'll have a choice then to leave or play against them. People who haven't had this done to them won't have a care in the world or won't understand until you play Killer and it happens to you then it's a whole different story. That's the truth.

Why should killers have to put up with this toxicity done to them with body blocking,  flash lightning everytime somebody is down, and butt dancing everytime they do something remotely toxic, but then soon as the killer does something bad back e.g face camping, then it's the end of the world the surviors will hate you forever and you're the bad one, you give, then expect to take it back. That's all I'm saying.

Thank you for the reply also (:

I have indeed been bullied as a killer, as recently as a week ago in fact at rank 6. I don't know, it might just be your bad luck or something but it's very rare I come across survivors who are specifically out to annoy you. Prior to the incident I listed, last time I've been bullied like that was when the Clown came out. Comms do have an effect on a lot of killers, sure, but that doesn't quite justify allowing killers to make queue times even more obscene than they already are in some cases - especially for 3-man SWFs, just because they can immediately assume "Toxic SWF lolnope". Again, like you said, not all killers are like that, plus some killers haven't been bullied hard yet, but I mean given that rank reset, deranking and playing with friends are all things to consider, I'd say that there's a pretty big population of killers who can say they have been bullied.

Perks. I said in my post that it's not a fully valid solution - but if you're having that much of a problem with it, substitute something in for a couple of games and see if a difference can be made. Yes, you may want to use perks you like, but you equally are choosing to not acknowledge that this sort of stuff could happen by doing so. I'm not trying to put you down for your decisions, I'm just trying to offer suggestions to help find a better solution to your specific problem than making queue times longer for those who have done nothing wrong (as in, aren't out to bully you).

In-Game Comms aren't in DBD because they probably wouldn't be used. Let's face it. Any group that you refer to as bullies, will still do their own thing. It wouldn't change anything aside from giving solo players a different way to communicate. Groups who have used other things to communicate will likely continue using it, unless they want to meme around or something. It would be a waste of time on the developers' part.

I completely agree with you on the streamers part. Some of them look like absolute idiots playing the game on their own. That's on the streamer though. If they want to go up ranks with friends, it's on them to be able to adapt to life at their new rank. I myself happen to stream this game on PS4. I did get to rank one for the first time while playing with friends, but I can play at rank 1 mostly fine. Yeah, I have bad games, but so does everyone else.

My point about the disaster waiting to happen I think I've already covered slightly elsewhere. It'll lead to longer queue times, hence players not playing the game for extended periods of time effectively making it a relentless game of chance as to whether you actually get to play the game or not. I recall a stream in particular in the past where I got 4 games in 3 hours not long before this event came out. A game usually take between 10 and 15 minutes. Take about 15-30 minutes for spending bloodpoints, getting lobbies set up, short breaks, viewing the endgame screen and other various reason for not searching for a game, that's still half the stream that was spent searching for a game. The first two games, alarmingly, occurred in the first hour, since I was only with one other person. A third person joined in and lobbies took forever to get into. This isn't even with dodges. Imagine something similar, but with dodges because of an assumption? This is why I'd be leaning towards the against side on your idea.

One thing to note is that obviously some killers already dodge for silly reasons. Prestige Clothing, 4 Claudettes (or any character for that matter, though it happens most with Claudette), Any items whatsoever (not including flashlights, that one I understand), just to name a few. It doesn't happen often at red ranks, but it happens a lot in the green and purple ranks, for some reason. If I were to play SWF with any of my buddies, I'd be subjected to that, simply because I want to play with friends and I happen to be a considerably higher rank than them. Deranking is a thing, but I'd actually be worse off for it, because I'd then fit the noobstomper label.

Why should killers have to put up with so much toxicity? Well, I mean, if someone is being toxic towards you, do it right back. They have no right to complain, and if they do, that's not your problem. You were just giving a taste of their own medicine. Just ignore them and move along. Another thing - personally I don't think Flashlight Saves or Bodyblocking are that toxic. It's just a survivor trying to help another survivor after all. Yeah, there's people who are out to annoy you, but some people seem to forget that it's sometimes just friends trying to help one another. Not be "Toxic" and frustrate the killer intentionally. Same goes with camping. If you know people are around, why should you leave the hook? You're being given a reason to not leave, so why would you? Tunnelling, in my opinion is just being a lazy but effective killer. It's not fun for survivors, but it's just as valid as the flashlights and bodyblocks are, so I mean work away honestly. "Butt Dancing" I can only assume is Teabagging. There's not really much I can say on this topic. Usually it's a sign of the survivor being cocky. If you catch them, make them watch you pitch a tent I suppose if it makes you feel any better? Whatever suits you I guess.

TL;DR - You've slightly misunderstood me on the disaster part - Queue times for SWF would be even longer than they already are outside of event times. Try changing your attitude or playstyle towards certain things, I'm not trying to sound like an ass, but the only way of fixing the issue is trying different things. If someone is toxic against you, why should you care if they complain about you being toxic also? You just played the game indifferently to how they did, what's so special about killer toxicity that survivors can complain about it? You're a killer, you're not supposed to care about the survivors, you're supposed to murder them.

Honestly I just spent like 45 minutes typing this and I don't think I could be bothered with a third essay. There's probably some fallacy in my logic that I haven't noticed but I've tried my best to show why your idea isn't exactly the best way to go about this. I'll try to respond to any small questions or points you may have, but don't expect full blown answers. Can't be bothered as I say. Probably won't be on the forums until way later if not tomorrow anyway. Time for my daily dose of DBD.

    huh

From what I can tell, their rank has reset from 8 to 13, then it has reset again from 13 to 16, since the error seemingly had a part in this.

Basically their rank got screwed so now lower rank survivors are also likely gonna get screwed.

  • If it's any positive to take, at least it shouldn't take obscenely long to get back to where you were, haven't seen this happen in a while, also, easier bloodpoints in theory. You would appear to be a PS4 player, like myself. I'm not great at killer, but I still got to Rank 5 season before last and Rank 9 last season with little to no difficulty (probably could have gone higher, but the fact that I prefer playing with friends kinda stopped me from caring enough to actually grind killer). I don't know why, just the survivor player base on PS4 seem to have "odd tendencies" let's say. Even some of the people I play with make strange decisions. Basically what I'm saying is that you'll not have that rough of a time for quite a while. The survivors in question however... Yikes.

  • Survivor:

No Mither, Object of Obsession, Slippery Meat, Up The Ante

    • Luck Offerings are allowed
    • Any item you want

Goal: Escape after successfully unhooking yourself.

  • The game has just started working for me seemingly. I'm able to access SWF and I'm now in a lobby. Is the issue fixed (is anyone else able to access it basically) or am I just lucky?
  • Me and my friend are also having this same issue. I got into the game again, but I can't actually do anything. Can't load SWF or KYF, can't join a lobby as either killer or solo survivor either.

Pretty sure this is the third, fourth or maybe even fifth day lately that the servers have had issues. They evidently weren't ready for the PS Plus influx of players.

Edit: Just got Error Code: 107 "Save Game could not be read"
  • Yes several people have stated in another thread somewhere that PS4 is having issues. As for when the issue is fixed, not a clue sadly.
  • Me and my friend are both having this issue too. The servers seem to have died (again). This is what happens when your game is featured on PlayStation Plus I guess.
  • PS4 (Base Model)

All Autohaven Wreckers Maps (Wretched Shop being the worst of the lot), Mother's Dwelling, Lampkin Lane (on outer edges), Torment Creek, Badham Preschool (Tree area between the preschool and one of the houses) and lastly both Backwater Swamp Maps (though it's worse on The Pale Rose for sure).

This happens regardless of which side I play, but also regardless of whoever I play as or against.

    As a Survivor:
    - Going into areas with high density of objects / trees / debris.
    - Being Shocked by a Doctor.
    - Starting and Ending the Dream Transition against a Freddy.
    - Negative Status Effect things (Cursed, Hindered, Blindness, stuff like that) cause a frame drop when they appear sometimes (it's particularly bad with Cursed).

    As a Killer:
    - Entering any tier of Bloodlust.
    - Like Survivors, entering any area with a high density of objects / trees / debris.
    - Using the Nurse's Power
    - Using the Huntress' Power
    - Being in Crouch Mode as the Pig (specifically Shelter Woods, Coldwind Farm and Backwater Swamp Maps are affected here).
    - Using Myers' (The Shape) Power.
    - Teleporting to a Triggered Phantasm as the Hag.
    - Using the Doctor's Power (particularly bad on Swamp, Coldwind and Red Forest maps).
  • Can Confirm this is definitely the case. V1.35 is live, 5.927 GB.

  • Personally I agree that DH, BL and Lithe shouldn't be nerfed. All three of these perks have activation conditions, and to be honest, that's what makes them balanced imo. I think they just need to up the exhaustion timer on SB specifically. The nerf as a whole makes sense logically, but it's a shame that three already mediocre perks are losing viability because one perk's balance is whack.
  • Just because you refuse to appreciate the fact that A) People can't afford a good PC, B) People want to play this with their friends and C) People prefer Console over PC, doesn't mean you have the grounds to completely crap on Console users. Like @Orion said, the Shrine is closed because the devs want all players to be treated equally, and rightly so. There should be no "favourite" platform with regards to the devs.

You just have to be patient, much like the PC community has been telling us to do with this very update. Somebody said in the forums that those telling us to be patient about the update would be first to complain about the shrine, don't know if that applies here, but just worth mentioning anyway. If you can't be patient then that's not anybody else's problem. Only yours. The update should in theory be out tomorrow, so the shrine should also in theory open on Wednesday. If you're that impatient, go play something else for a couple of days. I'm sure you'll better pass time there than here, unless you can accept that the devs for this game are trying to be unbiased as possible.
  • 8 as survivor.
    3 as killer.
0 because I'm a PS4 player. (jk, shame we don't have the update yet, but I'm sure it'll be out in the upcoming days).
  • Probably just a good string of luck tbh. It's  very rare to get post game salt, since you have to go out of your way to message the person (and most people couldn't be bothered doing that). I very rarely get chill games as killer, though I get them often enough as survivor I suppose.
  • It would make sense for the shrine to come back up on July 4 if the update comes out on July 3 for PS4. Shrine normally updates on a Wednesday so that's my guess at least.
  • Well, I do think it is a little harsh for perks that have an activation condition (specifically, Dead Hard with Injury, Lithe with a Vault and Balanced Landing with Dropping down from a platform), Sprint Burst most certainly needs the nerf. It's too "safe" of a perk, per se. I've seen multiple people say this, and I personally agree, but you shouldn't be able to get two or more uses of this particular perk in the one chase. If you don't escape, that's likely on you. DH, BL and Lithe were already pretty balanced imo since they have conditions for activation.

a more suitable nerf, in my eyes at least, would be to make the exhaustion timer longer for sprint burst specifically. Say, maybe 100s/80s/60s or maybe even 90s/80s/70s? I just don't think a perk without an activation condition should have as small a cooldown when compared to its competitors
  • It does not matter what rank you are, practically every match happens to me that killer camping. I play on PS4.
I play on PS4 too, I even stream the game sometimes. It's bad, but not nearly as bad as you make it out to be. I play R12 survivor currently and yes, I've had people sit in front of me with chainsaws recently, but before that I've gone so many games without a camping killer. You're just unlucky.

Plus, there's times where something has merited the killer to camp you. Other survs nearby, you've done something to annoy them so they want you out of the game, exits are open, just to name a few reasons why killers camp. Like I said in my last post in this thread, the killer is entitled to playing whatever way they feel like playing, camping or not. Same goes for survivors and looping. As cheap or unlikeable some tactics are, they're still legit (not counting exploits and hacks etc. obviously).
  • I'm honestly fine with camping. Sure, it's frustrating at the time, but hey, it's not like your life depends on it- oh wait.

jk, camping is fine. I got face camped for literally no reason 3 games in a row (3 different killers too) yesterday despite me using No Mither. It entirely depends what the killer feels like doing, plain and simple.

(For those wondering or assuming what the rest of my perks were, the other perks were: This is Not Happening, Up The Ante and Slippery Meat)
  • They did mention that the DLC would come soon. At least you guys have the 2.0.0 patch. Sony taking their time with certification unfortunately.

  • Since I play for points as killer, my build usually consists of:

    BBQ and Chili
    Distressing
One of: Iron Grasp or Agitation
One of: Hex: Thrill of the Hunt, Bloodhound, Nurse's Calling, Brutal Strength or Enduring.

I don't really have a "favourite" build for survivors. I like using any build that simply doesn't involve Self Care and Decisive Strike.
