  • Hook grabs should be removed. Locker, vault, and generator grabs are fine and dandy.

  • After reading this thread, most likely, y’alls definitions of camping and tunneling are too loose.

Also SWF to get better teammates. If you are SWFing and losing, start firing your friends.

  • He’s too short. It’s like permanent crouched Ghostface angle.

  • I’m enjoying reading the critique in this thread more than the video 😆

Because there are people on this forum who still consider them strictly anti-camping and anti-tunneling perks in the hands of good players. All it needed was unbreakable added into the mix.

The ‘legalize’ definitions for the intent of these perks do not change what the perks do. It feels like these are problems for noobs amplified by funny twitchies.

  • Be polite. “You can always be nicer.” Even to the sour players.

  • As the Dr. round these parts I prescribe OP and players who agree with his point to: git gud and pressure gens.

    It’s the only way.

Vent on the forums if you need. We all like attention. Step away if you’re on a losing streak and taking it out on your family or pets. But playing Nurse and Spirit are hardly the only ways to win. Tournaments be smited.

  • Passive phasing is how Spirit blinks and out while moving (doing anything actually). She literally disappears and reappears as she’s moving about. It’s not to pretend to use her ability. It’s to make tracking the Spirits movement really difficult. This addon (like monitor and abuse’s terror radius reduction and Freddy’s multiple base kit abilities) provides a benefit to the killer that isn’t really noticeable or is obvious to the killer utilizing it.

Is it her best? Probably not.

    Is it worthless? No.

How do I best use it? Change directions a lot to mind game survivors at loops.

  • Late October most likely.

  • Git gud is the correct answer. Asking developers to nerf down their game is the wrong answer.

LetsPlayTogether is giving off a poor attitude for discussion but I agree with his sentiment.

    I play her :D

and then most players say something that amounts to, "You dirty Hag player, you killed us all. You should be ashamed of yourself. So boring."

She is a mean, lean (on the side of far too skinny) killing machine with good add-ons.

She definitely has great moments. I like her being short with a small terror radius.

  • Because of course it is.

  • Just Nurse and Spirit. DS needs a buff because of this issue amongst other issues. Five seconds isn’t enough to get away from these two.

  • The stronger the base kit, the worse the addons. Hillbilly has a similar issue.

  • I play him. I main him. He’s fine and fun.

  • Thrill of the Hunt is wasted imo. I saw Otz using it and you just cannot defend three totems cross map being cleansed at once. Ruin/Undying is already super broken combo. I’d say more than those two is not helpful. Add BBQ. Add a chase perk.

@Steel_Eyed That's a good suggestion, actually. When I think about it, the only reason I really committed to the Rift was because of the Wraith and Zarina skins. And other than maybe Ace's poker chip and the Meg doll, the rest of the charms were garbage I'll never use.

I like Nurses mask, Spirits body, Wraith full cosmetic, Megs full outfit, Hag’s head piece specifically but also like the full outfit. I was surprised to read people didn’t like this rift as much as the priors. Love Oni getting some attention.

Some of the Tome cosmetics look more bland in the marketing than they are in use. Huntress’s and Legion’s outfits in Tome 3 are favorites of mine now.

    @kamisen said:

@Steel_Eyed @Jyn_Mojito I think the plan is to add the skins to the store at some point in the future.

I’m looking forward to this. I switched to PC from PS4 during the second Tome. Although I completed the first rift fully, there’s no cross progression or future cross progression set for outfits. I really miss having the Hillbilly, Nurse, Hag, and Huntress cosmetics. Hope at least Nurse’s gets released this month.

  • I play a lot of killer. If I have a bad trial, five gens completed, exit gates opened, but finally catch that Nea and guard the hook. I like to remind them how terrible they must be at the game if they died first hook in End Game Chat. Puts a smile on my face.

Agreed. And I think a one time fee to have access to all Rifts would be the most fair. That way vet players have assurance they don't have to drop everything for future tomes while new players don't have to feel like they missed out on early tomes. I don't know what a fair price would be, but I'd be willing to pay a lot for that guarantee. And it would be advantageous for the devs, too, because then they get a guaranteed paying customer, REGARDLESS of changes they make to tome progression.

Naw. Pay a flat one-time fee for the specific outfits you like in the store. The rifts fine and dandy. And just like Spirit’s Blight Cosmetic, the rifts not for everyone.

lmao the bit about the fashion show <3

I'm definitely not as avid in playing the game as you are! If I don't complete the tome, I probably won't buy it. I'm happy as a fiddle either way! But just to be clear: the post is primarily about the unannounced changes to the tome, not the rift itself.

Understood. I’d like to see your response to Deadeye at the end of Page One then.

before this gets reported for being off topic or whatever i want to say this IS about dead by daylight and how impactful the SWF voice comms is so please read it before you assume make an assumption, but recently i'v been feeling a little burned out so went to play something else for a short bit but wanted that more casual DbD feeling so i came across Among us.

before i carry on this WILL be long and no TL:DR will be included, sorry for the inconvenience.

anyways i'v been playing it for a good 2 or so weeks now and something i'v noticed has a strong presence in Among us is friends on voice comms.

    what do i mean?

well when you are the "Imposter" role you are essentially the "killer" role in DBD though your main tool of murder is stealth, and your goal just like DbD is to kill everyone or at least as many people as you can before they figure out its you and "eject you" which basically kills you.

if you manage to get the Imposter role which is randomly assigned in a 10man lobby when the game starts so nobody should know who is it besides the person who gains the role you will on some occasions come across a lobby where you feel that the crew are "psychic" in that when you start killing people they know who it is and get rid of you almost immediately, i chocked this up to being sloppy and noticeable but its becoming more obvious over time what the issue is.

    they are Surviving With Friends.

by this i mean if their little friend circle on discord is not the imposter they will do their "tasks" (the win objective as the crew members) and if one of their friends is killed they will announce over their voice comms (usually discord) that X killed friend or if they witness someone else get killed they will tell each other X killed that guy and with the stacked odds of 3,4,5 or even 6 people voting against you odds are the moment they announce this you lose because they will all eject you and end the game there.

as the Impostor your job just became impossible as the power role.

    sound familiar?

this same issue plagues DbD, survive with friend gives you power far above the games intended design which not only makes it so they gain clairvoyant abilities of knowing who, what, where and when just because of their voice comms but they actively destroy the "enemies" ability to even function because stealth just got taken from you due to the hivemind feeling sensation that is voice comms and just going on a rampage means they will get you killed/ejected immediately but they can also abuse this by staying together non-stop because they KNOW who is NOT the killer making it so the Imposter cannot do their job.

in DbD terms this is essentially SWF taking the power role from the killer by having a hive minded enemy constantly knowing your whereabouts, your perks as soon as 1 sees an perk they ALL know about it, each others constant location and ultimately which objectives to cooperate on which they know is safest.

    This. Breaks. The. Game.

unlike Among us though DbD CAN be solved and balanced of its issue!

because teams are NOT randomly assigned a killer/Impostor, players know what role they will be given when they start the search and because of this the game CAN be adjusted to accommodate and rebalanced around this issue.

im talking making voice comms baseline, buffing solo survivors by baselining perks like bond, kindred and sole survivor, mainly detection perks SWF will never bother with, limiting how many defensive "second chance" perks a team can have so more players in your SWF group the less you can bring and solo players being unaffected by this rule (its bad enough playing solo atm they need the help) and with all this in mind we can FINALLY start making the killer role scary again.

The killer role would have the ability to be Re-balanced if those above changes are made since we can adapt perks and powers with these baseline stats and features in mind, im talking baselining perks like monstrous shrine (this thing is awful in general and should be baseline since basement = killer zone and should be baseline), surge, territorial and that one perk that hides your red stain when you bloodlust (its that useless as a perk i cant even remember its name) then then some offering style items need to be baseline like Cypress mori (its the least used offering in the game and is useless compared to its green or purple brothers) and faint/clear reagent (this one is meh but would be selected depending on killer, so faint for trapper or clear for huntress as examples)

then once that has been done killers can gain a new "against the odds" style buff where the more SWF members are against them then some perks become temporarily baseline for each member of the SWF group up to 4 (so 8 total perks) which adapt to whichever killer you pick.

so example (a bad one i dont play wraith) would be if i were to pick wraith and the enemy has a 4man SWF, then i would get 4 perks baseline: NOED, infectious fright, agitation and blood warden because these would help my wraith play smooth out against the coordination of the SWF while allowing me to slot more optional perks to deal with the harder difficulty, again these would adapt depending on the killer, with this im hoping it will smooth out the lingering issues of some killers being useless against a SWF group and encourage more people to try and beat them rather than avoid them.

for the solo survivor though this is where temporary perks come in.

as a solo survivor you are already against the odds because nobody is partnered with you, they are likely to traitor you and worst case scenario they will farm you on the hook.

with these baseline perks for being solo im hoping it will make playing solo more barely even though it wont guarantee you more escapes, at least you wont feel powerless and with the adaptive killer temperary perks it means you being solo will mean a weaker killer due to less perks, the perks i recommend for solo surviving as previously mentioned that are adapted to solo survivor is sole survivor, kindred, bond and mettle of man.

why mettle of man? this would encourage solo survivors to take more protection hits which is something i see very few survivors do when i notice they are solo from both killer and solo survivor point of view.

finally to finish off give solo survivors and "Against the odds" killers a 25% bonus blood point gain PER Survive with Friend in the match.

so if a killer and 1 solo survivor join a lobby and there is a 3 man SWF group, both killer and solo survivor will gain 75% more blood points, this will encourage more... well going against the odds unlike with currently people will actively dodge SWF groups of any size because of the sheer advantages they bring mainly being that they already have cooperation and plans in mind for eachother where as the solo survivor will likely be the victim of their gameplay and the killer will be going against a more hiveminded enemy.

sorry for the long post but sitting playing Among us made me realize how bad of a state DbD match making really is when i could see the same power role issues in another game make the killer/impostor role completely powerless.

That’s a whole lotta words but not one mention of not playing well, bad fundamentals, not knowing maps/perks. Per usual, it’s a nasty SWF if they outplay you and just dumb randos if they don’t. Both SWFs; doesn’t matter. You and the pack are upset that there are better players in the fog and hide behind comms excuses..

  • Instead of completing the rift Week Seven of the last Tome, I completed it Week Eight of the current Tome. Sounds like the rift is not for OP.

And don’t buy levels with Auric Cells. That’s for Fog Whisperers to put on fashion shows at the beginning of the Tome.

I like how definitive it is. Not even calling me wrong he just outright denies the entire statement.

It’s kinda wrong. But kinda right.

  • How to loop guides on YT go a long ways in learning fundamentals. Just growing pains. You probably do have room to grow. It’s good you want to ‘git gud’. Good luck.

  • Probably going to start about three weeks from now. Last years was later in the month as well if memory serves.

  • When there’s a DC while I’m playing killer I think a mixture of:

    1. This ranks too high for you man,
    2. I did not make him/her quit,
    3. Where’s the other survivors. Let’s end this.
  • Instead of completing the rift in Week Seven last tome, I completed it in Week Eight this tome.

  • I could get on board with a ridiculous price tag. 100% achievements. 1 million blood points for one piece of Legacy, if that character is prestiged that high as to earn it.

  • @KingOfBadRNG said:

I honestly dont know about this perk it gives you a undetectable status effect until a survivor touches the gen. Also it works like surv which means you gain info if a survivor is on the gen there is no down side to this perk.

Which I'm kinda scared of like if sombody plays oni with pop, trails, infections fright, and tinkerer.

For those who haven’t tried it, Undetectable/oblivious is terrible on Oni because his footsteps are louder than Demo’s and he’s literally a red beacon when zooming.

  • Yes, he’s a streamer who uploads to Youtube. He mained Oni since his release and it’s his build that all the Oni’s run. At least until Undying came out.

He has lots of Oni videos up and he explains his thought process well. Also very funny person. It’s a good watch and you can learn from him.

  • Hillbilly is a favorite of mine. Just wanted to add that he is one of the few killers that benefit from Shadowborn. Highly recommended.

  • Perfect practice makes perfect. Scott Jund has a great Oni guide.

  • Fingers crossed for Oni and Ghostface. Legion may get multiple versions. At least two. Maybe four.

For comments on how many outfits, 2018 there were at least seven. Last year there were six if we count Nurse’s in the Tome.

  • Maybe during Halloween but I got sooo many bloodpoints from the anniversary event. It'd be nice; but I'm not thirsty.

  • It’s a great signal for dropping pallets

As far as I am aware, it only shows the notification if it blows up on a survivor working on a gen.

You don’t get a bubble if you can see the action on your screen like while chasing a survivor and they vault.

I dunno about generators but I can confirm noise bubbles have certain radiuses.

Someone fast vaulting or fast entering a locker only makes noise bubbles if the killer is reasonably close. No idea if it's greater than 32 meters. Blowing a generator via failed skill-check I am pretty sure is map-wide.

I know that the AFK crows, at 3 crows, makes a map-wide noise notification.

And it works in the inverse. If you're right next to a generator and it blows you won't get a noise notification.

Basically noise bubbles usually have both a "If you're too close, you won't get a notification" radius (Usually very close) and a "You're so far away, you won't get a notification." radius. I know vaults and rushed movements won't alarm the killer if he's very far away, but AFK crows are definitely map-wide, and I am pretty sure failed generator skill checks are also map-wide. No idea on sabo'd hooks but that seems to have a large radius. Thrill Of The Hunt notifications are map-wide.

All loud noise notifications are map wide.

  • Play them anyways.

The list of killers I found frustrating upon first couple days playing is a little embarrassing. Now I can play with any of the killers.

My advice to you is to learn as many killers as possible because eventually the ones you enjoy now will lose their luster (Nightmare, Spirit). But Hillbilly will be a whole new world.

    Take your lumps.

  • Huntress is the next rework. Then probably The Shape.

Gifts extend past the cap, but i have spent some bloodpoints because i am nearing my current cap of 1.4M. However all the bloodpoints i spend now is actually lowering my cap (i.e i cant spend any points without lowering my cap.) Its as if i am spending the gifted points first thus lowering my cap. Is that working as intended?

    Yes.

Without his charge add-ons or double engravings Oni is waaaay better than Hillbilly. Base kit Billy is pretty much loopable.

Sure he’s loopable. And I agree that Oni with his power is stronger than Hillbilly. But Hillbilly doesn’t have to collect blood.

I play a lot of base kit Hillbilly. If you’re on Discord we should hangout some time. Maybe we can play together and chat.

This isn't a competitive game though or at least that's what I constantly read in these forums.

That’s a fun thought. That DBD is actually a party game. But still it’s true: For one side to win, the other side has to lose. You cannot both be sacrificed and escape.

Anyways, I lose at Mario Party and Trivia games all the time. Party games are competitive, too.

  • Easy question. Beating players like the ones you’re complaining about.

Not everyone likes competitive video games, but if that’s the issue then maybe move on from multiplayers.

Underrated? Would you have him on the same tier as Nurse?

No, but third best killer still sounds right to me. What made me say that he was underrated was Stinde saying Hillbilly does not deserve his A tier in his/her post with the tier picture:

    @Stinde said:

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/R8UKCDR3JQGH/screenshot-20200902-174328-7e2.png

Here, I made it into a picture so it's easier to evaluate.

I'm surprised that spirit isn't in S tier on average. And I don't think Doc should be that high. Hillbilly, in my opinion, doesn't belong in the same tier with Hag or Huntress.

This thought that Billy drops to B tier post rework is more common on the board than this thread shows.

  • The original historical reason was to handicap hackers from loading in half a billion blood points, but I think it does more than that now. It encourages players to spend their points and not insta prestige new characters on release. I don’t have an issue with it in any form. It’s hardly limiting even during Prestige. It only takes about 1.6 million to get to level fifty. Having a million point headstart is pretty much there.

To OP’s point about potential rank rewards, they’ve already addressed this. Gifts extend past the cap.

  • Hillbilly is seriously underrated on this board. I did not realize how many players were dependent on his charge add ons even though we have seen the double engravings Hillbillies wrecking trials for years.

  • @MonsterInMyMind said:

I think that only applies to gens if im correct not everything else i could be wrong though if a dev can clarify would be nice.

The infection timer is increased by interacting with any infected objects: vaults, pallets, lockers, totems; not just gens. She has add ons that increase how much infection is generated from interacting with an infected object.

Put me down as Plague is very well made and good as is. Her add ons are great. I love using all of them.

Shame killer switching is no longer possible as being able to switch to Plague when there were a bunch of medkits in the lobby was such a great Gotcha! moment as killer.
