Yes, but if the survivors have a semi-decent player on their team they instantly win just for existing. That person can take all the pressure off the other 3 and allow them to do gens safely. Why should you guys get that?

Why should a player who outplays the competition win? Because they played better. Give props and learn how to play better yourself.

Knowing how to play agains DS? You mean unable to do anything to counter it? Only mitigate it? Which is ruined if they have Unbreakable and its complete invincibility then?

You don’t know how perks work? There are rules and reactions to scenarios that help a player win. If you don’t know how to play well, then it’s not the games fault.

Besides, most complaints about DS are for killers who already long lost a match getting a cherry on top DS and saying ‘see? I would’ve won one more hook if not for (not all my terrible play and bad decisions but) second chance perks.

  • The player(s) that have good mechanics and better decision making are the power role. The games are called a trial for a reason.

Sorry OP. It’s not auto win for killer just for existing. You have to play the game and play well.

That includes knowing how to play against DS and OoO, but more importantly, knowing how to win chases and make the right decision in different scenarios.

  • I think I’ll be able to prestige two more characters during this. Last years blood rush I think I did six characters during those three weeks.

  • I don’t mind flashlights or teabagging or any other ‘bad manner’ thing I see complained about round here.

yeah, winning chases does help, and if your team isn't good then the loops may be shorter. The issue is you can force the killer to loop one person via body blocking and lingering. IF you on an SWF then you can tell the best looper to start grabbing the killer's attention so that they don't patrol gens, which if the basic loop costs them 1 min, 10 seconds to hook. then that's basically at least 2 gens down by 1st hook. Whilst it may be a "game mechanic", so is choosing your perks (which need to be balanced) and maps and RNG loops (which can sometimes make or break your game). You saying it comes down to winning chases when the amount of things you can control is infinitely more so than on a solo queue (for example with randomers you don't know their skill level beforehand, but your group of friends you can account for your skill levels and decision making). This may be your experience ( you may be a better killer than the average purple or even red rank) but that does not change it for casual players. Most SWF are difficult to deal with as a killer before your heavily experienced in most killers, so if you are then congrats, but the skill difference needed to win for an SWF and normal solo queuer is entirely different.

Saying that someone can deal with higher level play by being a more experienced killer is exactly the problem with the SWF complaint. By the way, we all have potato moments, I’ve been wrecked before, but SWFs are not untouchable. I’ve beaten tournament players with clan tags; yall can too.

My overarching message is to not politic to make a good game soft and plushy and unfun by removing the competitive side of the game. It’s fun as it is. Learn to overcome.

  • Theres a button in the Leave a Comment box, in the bottom left, that looks like |<>| that lets you upload the link to a Youtube video. That’s the big trick.

  • It should have four levels at Prestige Five.

Talking to your friends gives you so much information that it makes a huge difference in your match. You can tell your friends

    Who the killer is

    Where they are at

    What perks they are running

If someone is being chased and where they are bringing the killer

    Where a lit totem is

    Gen locations and progress

If it's safe to make a rescue

If someone is going for a rescue to maximize gen repairs

Coordinating DS, BT, Adren, UB, body blocking to get even more use out of them

Headsets can negate some killers power completely. Such as trapper. Headsets do help you at looping because your friends can tell you if they used a pallet where your going. I've been in chases where I said "I'm heading to the shack" and a friend said "Don't go there, I used that pallet already". If a friend is nearby watching you they can inform you if the killer is walking backwards to mind game. In this game, if the killer and the survivors are playing optimally then the survivors are at an advantage because there are more of them. This game is designed and balanced around survivors making mistakes.

All that info, but it still comes down to winning chases and pressure. These threads and complaints are excuses for bad mechanics and poor decision making. In my experience.

I’m not saying to not have fun with some jeers against toxic killers, I’m saying there’s no need to BM killers who are CLEARLY less skilled than you. You know, the ones where you can guess their rank pretty accurately long before you see the match results. The ones who could have easily dodged and extended your 20-minute wait, but decided to play against you anyway despite the obvious warning signs.

    I’m a 13, you’re a team of 1’s and 2’s. You stomped me. Good for you.

So why the circles and taunts and pointing and t-bagging and exit-gate-butt-scrape and clicky-clicky and constant vaulting....

There should be no doubt in your mind that my skill does not match yours. Please just open the gates, leave the match, and gg.

I think the killer role is fun, but I’m not skilled. I play it much less now because I only have a good time in maybe 1 of every 5 matches. For this reason I don’t really have the desire to BECOME skilled, because it’s not enjoyable anymore.

I play mostly survivor now, and I do so respectfully, but queue times are getting to be overbearing. Still, when I see a killer below my skill, I know it’s not their fault. Just bad matchmaking. So I play, throw them a couple easy hits, leave, and gg. Why can’t this be the way?

I know, I’m ranting. I’m just unhappy with people’s behavior in general I guess. The game just really isn’t so fun for me anymore.

Don’t worry, comrade. I will avenge your losses.

  • No one talks about the SWFs they beat easily. The problem seems to be, not people talking to each other, but killers playing against good players who make good plays.

The killer still has to play the game. The survivors still have to play the game. Talking to your friends does not make you better at looping or the killer worse at chases.

On PC you can see player’s friends list and see if they’re SWFing. They can be beaten and these threads are probably made by inexperienced players who shouldn’t be adjusting anything balanced related until they learn to play better as it is.

  • I’m by no means the best but I can play pretty well with Nurse and she’s the only killer I can 4k with, play an absolute excellent match, and be like ‘aight, I’m done playing for the day.’

Even winning with her is a frustrating time akin to the Call of Duty/FPS experience.

I agree with the above poster that I’m not saying not to play her. Every so often I catch a Nurse mood, but I’m with anyone and everyone that nopes out hard on occasion.

(For perspective on how much I play her, she’s P3 lvl 50 and all perks unlocked.)

  • I’d rather bring a perk that’d help me win the match before gens were done. Like Whispers.

  • I’m happy with the change. Ruin Undying matches were super uncompetitive as killer.

  • Happy with all the changes. Clown gets map pressure abilities. Several perks were boosted. Crotus Penn might not have a god window soon.

    Its looking rosie.

  • If they were changing Nurse during this quarter, they would’ve announced it in this update.

  • I'm just m1ing now at start of matches. It's super bugged out and false lunging even if noones there.

  • I think it may be something else. I checked my mouse on a test website and my left click is not having any issues.

On the other note, I am noticing that M1s are not registering even on the blood webs. That it actually cancels the perk, offering, addon that I've been picking. I think DBD is having an issue registering clicks.

  • I guess this is hit validation screwing killers out of hits, but my internet is good. I just checked fast.com and its over 180 Mbs. What is going on today?

  • @Crazewtboy said:

There is a easy solution to this issue. Don't get caught. Improve your running skills so it isn't you sitting on the hook.

This game is designed that the killer always wins the chase. You just cannot ‘don’t get caught’ for very long. Closer to 45 seconds in high level play.

  • Yeah they probably should but that may be asking a lot. I’ve heard streamers say his traps stick out too much on certain maps but I disagree. They’re useful on all maps.

  • I tend to not use exhaustion perks on survivor at all. Personally I like Lithe more than Dead Hard.

  • I’ve P3 50’d all twenty two killers. Now it’s about which killers I’ve unlocked every perk on.

78 Tier 3 perks. Six pages.

Hillbilly, Oni, Ghostface. Next up is probably going to be Nurse but whoever I play I try to put those points back into the same killer (if not completed).

Finally another person who can play Clown without slowdown perks and agrees he isn't actually bad.

Out of curiosity what's your build with him?

BBQ, Brutal Strength, Save The Best For Last, Whispers.

I have found Whispers makes up for my gen regression perk because it gives me information to start chases back to back.

I saw some Clowns like all action speed. Bamboozle. Fired Up. I like my set up though.

Hahaha than you haven't been against a good wraith I think 😜

I still menage to win against 4 man swf, sometimes easier and sometimes I need to put my try hard pants on.

He is add on depanding but nowhere weak as many think.

Personally the one who need a good little buff would be trapper.

Going around the map to get your traps, than walk back to where traps are needed is a lot of time lost for nothing.

If they make it so he can get a certain amount of traps out of a locker that would benefit him and more balanced.

The survivors can sabotage/break his traps and he can only replace them by getting 1 from the locker

Agree about Wraith but hard pass on buffing trapper. He’s just fine right where he is.

To OP - I love tier lists! I like reading peoples thoughts on the strength of each killer and we sometimes learn something from them. And even though the tiers go from S to D-tier, no killer is reasonably lower than a B in viability.

Fwiw, I’ve been playing red rank Clown with no gen regression perks and 4k’ing. The state of killer has been quite good since the map adjustments.

  • Adjusting the maps made a huge difference in the trials. So much so that several of the top killers had to be nerfed. Even then they’re still the top killers because the adjustments to the maps were so significant.

Technically there is a bonus for devotion but its not much

For every devotion level you get an incredibly miniscule bonus to iridescent shard gains

Which can be used to buy characters, outfits, or bloodpoints. Devotion is pretty nifty as it is. Right now I’m banking shards for a new outfit.

  • There’s tons of speculation and that’s all we can give you, fam. Otz thinks keys can open chests and exit gates faster.

games are done in 5 minutes if u have a very bad build and also dont even know how to play the game. in top of that a good 4 man and map, im a rank 1 killer barely ever lose a match, most survivors are boosted, only 4 man swf with mics are a problem (if they are good), other than that, the game is balanced with pretty much any killer. (if u are a decent killer and know how to play the game and with a good build)

Five minute matches is probably bad mechanics and poor decisions.

  • I think gen regression is completely trivial in red ranks once the killer learns the mechanics.

  • The only good troll is a sacrificed troll 😂

ie their basekit, is just having no power, maybe slightly better then regular killers addonless, but having no actual power to them.

But their addon's completely change how their played. a brown addon that increases their break speed by 20%, a green addon that makes them completely undetectable outside of a chase. a purple addon that makes all hits enable aura reading on survivors for 5s.

Essentially their a basekit killer, but their power is their regular abilites far enhanced. would allow for huge synergy with builds. having one addon that might decrease their on hit cooldown paired with save the best for last, or an ultra rare that permanently increases their speed by 5%.

This is how I would ‘nerf’ Freddy. He’s got like five passive abilities as base kit. Make him have those same abilities but via add ons.

So, to be clear, you think it should take 5 minutes minimum each survivor to eliminate eliminate them, and that DS, one of the most frustrating anti-fun perks in the game, should be even more of a negative experience for the killer if someone camps a locker with it?

Here is a better idea: If you don't want to be eliminated from the game, get better at it. DS was nerfed and is still arguably too strong. It was the most powerful perk in the game ever and completely destroyed the meta in 2017 back when there was no counterplay. DS is meant to be a 'weak' deterrent, as are all anti-hooking deterrents, because the killer is supposed to be more powerful than the survivors at the hook and be allowed to score.

If you don't want your teammate to get eliminated, don't unhook while the killer is there. Instead force them off the hook by pressuring gens, so that they have to leave if they don't want to lose. If they still don't leave, punish them, have 3 of your 4 teammates pip, and pat yourself on the back for climbing overall gaining .5 pips on average assuming the camped survivor is randomly distributed.

To be clear, I think DS could use a buff and the nerf talk is silly. I can pull my killer credentials if you want or just click on my profile.

The game is built where the killer will win any chase. Survivors cannot get away indefinitely. Nerfing DS makes this game hanky panky and I don’t want players on this forum turning a game I enjoy (because it’s difficult) into plushy easy win trials.

  • I slug them. If the game is progressing fast, I will hook them. But mercy when there seems time for it.

  • I recommend Sloppy Butcher and Stridor.

Sloppy Butcher causes the hemorrhage effect until healed. While using Victor blood pools are highlighted a bright red. More blood pools makes tracking injured survivors much easier.

Stridor makes survivors louder, period. It’s a passive as well which means Victor benefits from it also.

Both have been quality of life perks while playing Twins.

  • Shadowborns just nice to have. Nurse and a handful of other killers just don’t need perks to play well. So what do the experienced players bring? Perks that just feel nice to run. Shadowborn, Whispers, Barbecue and Chili.

  • Yes. A weaker version. Maybe the nerfed version that’s being proposed could be basekit and then DS stays similar or buffed.

  • DS needs to be buffed, not nerfed. Duration is too short. Sixty seconds is nothing and the stun is too short. Some killers it’s like they didn’t even eat a stun because of their power: Nurse and Spirit.

I think it’s completely okay to make DS activate with two chances for each unhook rather than once.

  • Finished all killers. P350.

I prestige survivors mostly by order of the rifts featuring them. So I P350’d in order:

Claudette, David, Jane, Dwight, Kate, Meg, Ace, Nea, Adam.

This is the first time I’m’ahead’ of the Tomes for prestiging survivors so I P350’d Bill and Laurie.

Since we have about a month until Tome 6 I am eyeing Jake, Feng, and/or Yui before February.

  • @Rydog said:

So you've played DBD for 24,000 total hours? How is that even possible? It came out 4.5 years ago, do you only take breaks to eat and sleep? 24,000 hours is almost 3 full human years of existence.

He’s being sarcastic. Except about nerfing pig.

So killers have no brain, no skill, and their input doesn't matter? It's this "hopeless" mentality that makes it so certain players never improve.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1835779#Comment_1835779

    • I dislike the new maps for both sides for many reasons (graphics, lighting, etc). But from a gameplay perspective, they definitely are much better for killer than their predecessors.
    • That makes no sense. Win Rate is an average - it has nothing to do with how much each side is being played. Your second point fails to explain why win rates have been rising significantly over time - killers could always camp and tunnel.
    • Twins is a B-Tier killer. Not the best, but definitely viable. Blight on the other hand is a S-tier killer, when played correctly he can shut down survivors really quickly. Just because your average player can't play these killers at a high level doesn't mean they are weak.
    • Once again, your point implies helplessness from the killer by ignoring the fact that they have the ability to apply pressure. Like any powerful perk combo, it's not going to fix someone's complete lack of skill. However, players that are good enough to utilize this combo are consistently dominating most games using it.

Your last point was your best point. Post more often. Seriously, we need more of this around here.

Killers are only as good as the survivors allow them to be, change my mind.

How come every survivor seems to ‘allow’ me to be good? That’s a whole lotta unselfish players in my red rank matches.

  • Glad to see Hillbilly getting respect again. Still underrated by many players. Agree on points about Billy vs Oni and agree on all points about Freddy being top tier.
