After over 300hrs in this game playing a mix of killer and survivor I’m really on the edge of letting this game go.
now don’t get me wrong, a coordinated swf is very powerful but I mostly play solo queue like many others.
the problem is that in solo queue you have no idea what other people are doing, their is no coordination at all. Unless one of the survivors is amazing at looping or the killer is a newbie. You will die 10/10 matches.
playing as a killer for the last couple months I’ve never had a game where I didn’t get less than 3 kills. It’s just so easy to win. I enjoy survivor more because it’s much more challenging, albeit too much.
i think what this game lacked from the beginning was a way to communicate with other survivors. Having a voice chat even if it is just proximity chat would have been critical to this game being able to bring new players in for the long term.
swf can communicate and killers can still succeed? Why punish solo players?
anyway, just needed to voice my opinion. Would love to hear others thoughts.
thanks.
Okay. Let me see if I can't explain this one a bit.
- You can't separate out solo from SWF like that. Every solo survivor has a choice whether to play solo or in an SWF.
- However, killers don't have a choice. Their next match could be an SWF.
- I've got about as many hours as you on survivor. You're massively exaggerating. I win about 55% of my solo queues.
- Can you imagine what VC would look like in this game?
-
Oh brother, this guy again.
If I sound annoyed, it's because this is someone who legitimately wants survivors to escape every game and will literally complain about any killer perk, any killer power, any killer strategy that lets them win. It's like the second coming of Sluzzy, but without the self parody.
But whatever. Here we go again!
Nowhere to Hide, Awakened Awareness, Darkness Revealed, BBQ, Floods of Rage, Lethal Pursuer, Face the Darkness, Bitter Murmur, Discordance…. Then thrown in the various uses of Killer Instinct and aura addons…
Distortion.
NTH - don't try and hang around gens?
Darkness revealed - don't linger near lockers?
BBQ - barely anyone gets much use of this anymore.
Floods of Rage and LP - Loop better.
Bitter Murmur...that's like killers complaining about Dark Sense.
Discordance - How are you being steath while also slamming out gens?
Survivors are SOL if they want to try to play stealthy. And it’s not just that… it’s the fact that you can’t hang out near downs to try for a save because of AA plus Starstruck or Mad Grit.
No, you can play stealthy. But you cannot have complete stealth and also be able to slam out gens and also be able to see the killer at all times.
Nobody uses AA anymore.
Are we...actually seriously complaining about Mad Grit?
Also - I'm absolutely astonished that you've managed to find a killer who can run about eight perks simultaneously.
ou can’t leave a gen and remain in the area to mitigate Call of Brine, et al. because of NTH. You’re seen when they hook, you’re seen when you unhook, you’re seen when you finish a gen… randomly, working with others… it’s pointless to even try to be stealthy.
Okay, it's mindblowing that you're even moaning about this.
Firstly, it appears we've got our eight perk killer yet again - but here's the thing.
- There are multiple ways to never get AFK crows while remaining hidden.
- You have options to help you stealth.
- SWF can call a killer out no matter where they are, or use perks like Fogwise to have complete, 100% uptime vision of the killer wherever they are. What's good for the goose is good for the gander.
All we have left is running and pushing gens which is harder since the meta-break update.
Hah.
Ahahaha.
Okay, what?
You can loop. You can play in a team.
You can hide. You can *work as a team*.
You can try to burn out the gens. You can run boons. You can run healing builds. You can run protection builds.
There are so many things survivors can do that...yeah, this next bit made my head explode.
And killers get annoyed that we run 2nd chance perks and gen rush builds. ######### are we supposed to do?
You're complaining about Mad Grit and Bitter Murmur.
Mad Grit.
And Bitter Murmur.
The irony and lack of any sort of self awareness here is...actually legit impressive.
It seems clear that the prevalence of these aura perks is to make it SO easy for killers to find survivors that they don’t camp.
No, these are to allow increased interaction between survivors and killers rather than having every match taking 40 minutes because someone is using the exploit to avoid AFK crows.
Camping is neither here nor there. But I can promise you - if you got your way and killers had zero aura reading or information perks, no gen regression perks, no lethality perks and...well, probably no perks at all - since you literally consider *Mad Grit* of all things to be overpowered, you'd see a hell of a lot more camping.
But of course they still do that anyway.
Who is...they, exactly?
If we're going to judge all killers by the person who camped you in your last game, then I'm judging the hell out of you for the hacking team I just played against.
Fair?
Do you guys really think it’s fair and balanced to have extreme mobility killers like Nurse, Blight, Oni, Spirit and other strong mobility killers like Dredge, Wraith, Freddy, Sadako… easily find survivors and also one hit them?
Are you...playing against a lot of hackers or something? Because I'd love to know how Spirit, Dredge, Wraith, Freddy, Sadako, Blight or Nurse is one shotting anyone. The only killer on there that can instadown is Oni.
And vs solo teams predominantly of course…
Citation required. The last stat we had on this was that around 50% of survivors play in SWFs.
And then while dealing with all of this we still get slugged and left to bleed out by killers who just want to play like jerks.
I thought you were being camped? While being instantly found and one shot by a Dredge?
Yes, bleedouts are obnoxious. They are also at the very least on the dev's radar. So you're...kind of crying about something that is already going to be fixed in some fashion, I'd guess this year.
I realize there are some decent, sportsmanlike killers out there but on a good day… that’s still maybe 20%.
You...mean the ones that play a perkless Trapper that just lets everyone go at 2 hooks?
Because I've seen literally 1 bleedout player in just under 500 survivor games.
I have, on the other hand, seen at least 30 instances of a survivor abusing the 'gains' exploit to never get AFK crows in order to take a match hostage in the last 500 killer games.
THIS is a large part of why you have DC issues.
WHAT!?
No...seriously, so...a killer runs an aura reading perk which makes survivors everywhere automatically DC?
I think my brains are coming out of my ears.
If you feel like you NEED to run OP killers with aura / one hit, etc to win because survivors are so strong, you’re just not a good killer yet.
Two words: Community Cup.

Good for Blood Warden too, if someone opens the exit gates. Step in, lose a token, either leave or prepare to wait it out. Also gives away scratched mirror Myers pretty quick. It's become a really solid perk, I'm seeing more survivors running it.
@Jay_Whyask said:
Distortion
I've been running Distortion a lot recently and...I can't recall the last time I didn't get value out of it.
The only thing to remember - a Mirror Myers is actually one of the few killers that can eat through it too fast for it to be especially useful.
Still an excellent perk though.
@C3Tooth said:
No where to hide is fine on paper. But the fact that survivors are too used to walk away from Gen and hide behind a wall when terror radius coming “for 6 years”, then kick the Gen and reveal the survivors leaving free hits.
if the perk released 3-4 years ago, it would feel far weaker.
Bingo.
I'm also finding more survivors who will quickly figure out that I'm running NTH and will immediately adjust their playstyle and just move a ways away, then come back to tap the gen once I've kicked it.
@SmolBlob said:
Distortion single handedly almost hard counters even 4 aura perk builds. The tokens are going to be up often enough to block most reads.
The reason I'm trying to use Distortion less is that...I swear, this perk is basically free wins. Multiple games today where I've been chased literally twice all game and wound up getting hatch or gate at the end because everyone died.
I'm pumping my survivor MMR up while not getting any better at looping - which is where I'm weakest.

While I feel Pop was over nerfed I don't think it's useless really. The others you mentioned were definitely gutted though. Hopefully Eruption gets a treatment similar to my suggestion but I'm certainly not banking on it.
I thought Pop was okay coming out of 6.1.0, but after some experimentation...wow is this perk really niche now.

I personally dislike Huntress, and I can't play as her worth a damn on console, but even I'm disappointed she didn't get anything for year of the freaking rabbit. What the absolute hell, BHVR.

Meanwhile we get a prime Feng outfit an event Feng outfit and if the leaks are true a Feng rift skin plus the deep rift version. So 4 rift skins. Just shows you which chrarcter really makes the money for them. The problem with killers is that you don't see their skins ingame except their weapons so BHVR gets kinda lazy when it comes to them
Eh...there are some very cool killer skins. The 'zombie' Doctor, the new Artist rift skin, the new Ghostface skin - all dope.
-
The scenario you are saying isn't something that ever happens. Players are hitting gens and they don't get hit by pr and run to a corner or find another gen.
Uh, yeah it is. Because that's how I handle this combination, after seeing...it was either Ayrun or Spooky a bit back talking about it.
If you get hit by pr across the map and waste time hiding that is even more value from pr. That is because not only are you wasting time sitting on your hands but you are letting a gen regress at the same time.
Read what I wrote again.
Like it's an alternative but ci is straight up better.
I disagree. This is another situation where a lot of survivors won't handle it correctly, but the groups that do...well, there's a reason this is generally not permitted in comp.
Basically, you just hide in a random locker or out of the way spot, and use the 'gains' exploit to not get AFK crows. Then go back to the game as normal.
All CI is doing is making the match take 2 minutes longer. I had maybe 5 SWFs do this against me on Myers a month or so ago, which is why I don't use CI anymore on any killer that isn't a setup killer.
I mention killer perks because we are talking about killer perks?
Do you think it's fair to talk about killer perks in a vacuum, when discussing balance?
Or do we need to look at things a bit more holistically and say - what would, taking into account the past 6 years of the game and the current meta, be fairest?
Eruption is so busted that it would still be in a top build with a 33% nerf.
This is factually wrong.
This would make Eruption about as good as it was before the buff...you know, when nobody used it?
There is no high mmr in this game.
This is factually wrong.
BHVR have confirmed that there is absolutely an mmr range between x and y, with y being some point beyond the soft cap.
You can play
chillnormally but it looks chill because you've got 12,000 hours in this game, and win an insane% of your games, and if you disagree you can watch all the streamer that do iSigh. I got this far and nope, I'm done.
if you disagree you can watch all the streamer that do it. Momo (blight player) is going for 1000 wins in a row without losing
Yeah okay, no. You're just being contrarian now. Feel free to be a jerk about it as per last time (I do tend to get suckered in by this sort of cheap trick, but it really is just being a low human to insult people who don't want to spend hours pointlessly bickering), but the hypocrisy here is absolutely staggering.
You climbed down my throat when I used Ayrun as an example of someone who can excel in solo queue.
You are arguing the *exact same thing*, but now with an even more outside advantage of Blight.
This game is not Dead by Dayblight. If a killer is OP, then that killer should be balanced around the game. Not vice versa.
Yeah, cheers. I really, really cannot believe that I wasted so much time on that. Well done, I guess - because you had me going.
-
If you pre-leave I kick gen, or don't and I hit you and then kick gen.
How?
Those gens are now regressing. You cannot apply Eruption to a regressing gen. A fairly smart play with PR is, if you can dodge it, to hide. It'll regress, killer comes to check, leaves, you jump back on it. This is also a good way, in solo, of trying to get your teammates not to 3gen you.
You should always be looking to split gens vs any build.
Eh...sorta.
Generally you start by splitting up, meaning that you should be at 2-3 gens as soon as possible. Then you'll probably need to collapse and burn your toolboxes, stakeout stacks etc. to finish the last two gens ASAP, generally with one person leading the killer off and the other three destroying one with PTS or what have you.
I don't see how noting which gens have eruption on matters. Are you just going to let those freely regress with brine and waste time going over to tap and find other gens? But there also isn't even a point to tap the gen because eruption will make it start regressing again.
There's no point in doing dishes - they're just going to get dirty again.
Unless they have NTH, which makes things a little more complicated, you want to tap the COB/Erupted gen and then watch your allies to see when you need to let go. Then...you tap and continue without any worries, or maybe you eat the eruption if you poop the sheets.
Again - people love to pretend that eruption is hitting the entire team whenever someone goes down - but with a bit of foresight and a smart build, you can avoid it fairly reliably.
If you leave a gen that gets hit by pr, you made pr do 40% of a gen, and now you are wasting time finding a new gen. Like how is letting a gen full reset bad for the killer? You just don't do a gen that has low progress if the killer comes to kick it and then leaves(its eruption). That has no relation to pr though. I don't see how there is any anti-synergy in that build.
Wild exaggeration for effect. Moving on.
Survivors have set spawns. LP isn't that crazy of a perk unless you are Nurse
LP is incredible for a lot of killers. Artist. Ghostface. Myers. Nurse. Blight - basically any killer that can rapidly escalate pressure off a good chase. It's not so much about knowing where they are, as it is knowing who's heading into a weaker area of the map. And the bonus aura time is just gravy.
The meta before was 4 slowdown.
It absolutely was not.
Yes the most broken killer perk in the games is going to fix itself out...
It's usage rates look like they peaked and are now falling off. This probably means that survivors are starting to adapt to it.
The only killer perk that has been this bad was undying in recent memory.
It's...interesting that you say 'killer perk' and not just 'perk'.
Why is that?
-
But objectively speaking, the perk is
brokenannoying andneedsto end the moaning maybe give it acomplete rework/nerfslight tweak as its really sucking the fun out of playing survivormakes it more challenging to play solo.Fixed.
Yes, I'm being facetious, but - try to see this from the other side. We've had 3 perks nerfed recently for the sake of solo players, while being fine against SWFs. We cannot choose to play against SWF or solos, but you survivors can make this choice at any time.
How it fair for nearly all our options against SWF to not just get nerfed, but absolutely nuked to the point they are barely worth using anymore for the sake of solo queue?
How is it fair to literally demand that a perk be removed from the game - a perk on a real money killer for that matter - for the sake of solo queue?
Do you see why killer players are getting annoyed?
The perk needs to be dealt with asap
Why is it, when it's a killer perk at less than 30% usage rate, that it becomes a priority - but when a survivor perk is around 70% and literally dictates the meta at higher MMRs...that perk can remain like that for multiple years?
Again - do you think this is fair?
-

I don't like to use Epic/Fortnite as a example but in this chase I have to. When something is broken it get's removed and/or fixed in a matter of days or in the longest a month when there are times like Christmas inbetween. I know Epic has probably a lot more people working in there company but this not a excuse for how long we have to wait in dead by daylight for changes. Here some examples:
-The Steam Deck celebrates it's first birthday in a few days and well...we can't play dbd on it. Every other big game on the steam deck got optimized in the first few months but dbd not because they can't or don't want to optimze there anti cheat to work on it.
-The Crossprogression for switch got promised almost 2 Years ago and we didn't get it. Like always the information we get from Bhvr is almost 0
-Wasn't there like a promise multiple years ago that the last gen get's optimized? Well still all versions run like crap on the old consoles
-We get a new killer every 3 months. I kinda can understand that because it takes time to plan the killers and because of the cooperation with other horror frenchises. But why the hell does it take so long for them to fix problems with the killers. One of bubbas addons is bugged since years
-The people here, on Youtube or on the hellhole called Twitter complain about certain mechanic's in the game and openly Show how they break the game or just take the fun out. But do these things get fixed? Well yeah but for that we have to complain month's when not years that something is broken for it to get fixed
My guess?
The devs never expected DbD to pop off the way it did. It's not especially well coded. So any change has the potential to make the entire game spontaneously combust, and thus takes time to implement and test internally.

See - this is what I mean.
It's never 'oh, this needs to be reworked so it's better for solos but still a good perk'.
It's always 'I DON'T CARE. Nerf this to the ground or just remove the perk and leave that killer with 2. Or I and EVERYONE ELSE is going to quit'. From a forum member, and then a handful of...strangely new looking accounts agreeing with them.
Sigh.
And this is why we can't have nice things.

What else do we hate?
I'm not even going to say how many times I've done this, jumped out, tried to vault and instead jumped back into the locker - while the killer watches me in complete confusion. I used to wonder why survivors did this sometimes. 'Maybe it's some fancy tech I don't know about?'.
Things that annoy me on survivor:
- Being on a gen and knowing that, if I leave it, there's an RNG chance that it explodes.
- My teammates DCing, suiciding or AFKing for no apparent reason.
- Doing 2 gens, unhooking someone and healing them and leading the killer on a long chase - before getting hooked, everyone leaving, and I depip.
- Hook grabs.
On killer:
- No matter how chill I play, unless I'm just letting the other team win, there's a good chance someone is going to suicide or DC the second they start losing.
- Bugs and exploits that still exist and have never been fixed, such as a still extant double locker spot where you can't pick a survivor up.
- Badham, Garden of Joy and Eyrie.
- Survivors on the forums complaining bitterly and engaging in really obnoxious hyperbolic crap about literally whatever the killer meta is at any given time.

Half of these Killers aren't even weak.
Like, Billy and Demo aren't top tier, but they're completely serviceable
I hard disagree about Demo. Something is very off with him these days, and I have a feeling that something from 6.1.0 wasn't properly implemented there. I think it has to do with Shred.
Pre 6.1.0, I was kicking butt and taking names on Demo. Now he's probably my weakest killer.
@DrFrozen said:
Here you can find some ideas how to help very weak killers to make them slightly better.
DEMOGORGON
I'd love to see Rat Liver added to his basekit. ( common addon increases his movement speed while charging Off the Abyss by 3.5% )
TRICKSTER
Killer is so cool, pity that he is probably the weakest one so maybe after 8 seconds of not being hit by a blade survivor has to mend out of them that takes maybe 1.25 or 1.5 seconds each and his main event no longer runs out of the time once charged.
OR make him 4.5 m/s
WRAITH
His mains will no longer exist after nerf until COH is removed so just delete this perk and this killer will have more breathing space.
HILLBILLY
Remove overheat mechanic
TRAPPER
Remove COH and this killer will do 100% better
TWINS
Maybe thanatophobia should recieve changes like it was before 4% penality to healing, repairing sabotaging per each injured survivor so twins will benefit from this perk again
LEGION
Those thana changes would make them better
Demo...I'd rather see Shred reworked a bit to make it less clunky. Going from Wesker to Demo is like shaving with a razor and then trying to shave with a butter knife. Or possibly a squid.
The issue is that you need to charge for distance - but at some point they made it so if you go from a charge to a shred too soon, it fails.
I'd do the following:
- Shred charges 50% faster (as in, you can fire a full distance shred a lot faster)
- Missed shreds or collisions recover 30% faster. This is the core issue with Demo, imho: Shred is incredibly punishing to use if you compare it to the linear gap closer of a lot of other killers.
- Rework the crap addons to not be crap.
Trickster...eh. Another killer the devs don't seem to know what they want to do with.
Wraith - he's not the strongest, and could maybe do with a small buff to his 'coming out of stealth' speed, but he's also far from bad.
Billy - I don't know if it's overheat so much. He just needs some general love, especially in his addons.
Trapper - this killer just needs a complete overhaul.
Twins - see Trapper. So much about this killer makes zero sense.
Legion is 100% fine.

I want to preface this by saying that I appreciate that the dev team is constantly trying to make adjustments to the SBMM system so that playing the game is just a little less wretched of an experience. However, whatever tweaks were made this week have resulted in abysmal games and not just on one side, but both survivor and killer matches have gone to absolute hell, the skill discrepancy in lobbies have never been this extreme (barring some days of the SBMM test week and the second round of preliminary SBMM testing while the grade system was in place). I appreciate having less sweaty matches, but playing against people who just installed feels incredibly cruel with almost 3k hours under my belt.
I've seen a bunch of other people complain about it on the forum as well, so I'm fairly certain it's not just my personal MMR that's bugged in some form or another.
What changes, exactly, were made?
Or is this just guessing?
I haven't seen much of a difference, aside from a decent number of folks coming back for the event and probably being slightly lower MMR than they should. But that happens every event (just wait until the anniversary >_<)

Ehhhhhhh.
His counterplay is basically just stay near high walled structures and even then, you go down eventually.
Well...sure?
This is a team game. You're supposed to drag things out in chase while your team does gens, but a killer that you didn't go down to eventually would be completely useless.
If your team isn't doing gens, then that's a big waste but not the killer's fault.
If you go down too fast in chase, that sucks - but not the killer's fault.
Or am I missing your meaning?

I'd point out PR/DMS has a reliable counter. Eruption doesn't. I'd even argue that it doesn't need a counter just a change. Incapacitated is just an incredibly annoying effect. If it was up to me I'd buff the damage to 15% and have the gen/gens affected block for 25 seconds. That way it's still effective and survivors can still do something during that time.
Does it? You can dodge the initial disruption from PR, but it's still applying regression and the DMS effect - which is why this is so good on Dredge, Doctor, Sadako, Pinhead, Artist etc.
Yes, that would be a fine rework - but mark my words.
This won't happen.
What tends to happen with regression perk nerfs is BHVR deliberately wrecking it to the point of uselessness, or at best making is very mediocre and niche. See: Pop, Overcharge, Thana and Ruin.
Well...maybe one exception with CI, but that's an anomaly.
-
What good teams are so poor on gen eff that when you hook a survivor their top gen doesn't have a lot of progress? Like am I misunderstand you? You're saying the counter to that build is leaving when you get hit by pain res if the gen isn't nearly finish. As in you are on a gen with 40% prog and you get hit down to 25% you then go find another gen while your gen full reset because that will counter gen kicking?
It's not quite that binary. Here's how I see folks trying to deal with it.
- Split up on gens.
- Note which gens are Erupted.
- PR comes in - if another gen has just popped, leave it.
- If another gen hasn't just popped and yours is viable, release for PR then slam it.
- If it's like 40%? Judgement call I guess, based on what other survivors are doing.
The first prize, natch, is to dodge the Eruption. If you want, I think...Ayrun did a recent 'speedrunning DbD' stream with some mates - note how they handle Eruption and rotate. Of course you won't be able to coordinate quite as well in solo as they did, but the same principle applies.
No top build is running double info.
Uhhh...yeah they absolutely are. Depending on the killer, LP+BBQ or LP+NTH are absolutely used.
The meta before was 4 slowdown
No, it absolutely wasn't.
now it's more 3 and a flex spot.
That's not what I'm seeing at all. It can be, sure, but looking at the top 10 most common builds on NL right now, excluding meme builds and adepts, there's 3 regressions, 4 regressions, 2 regressions and even two separate 'all info' builds.
Most commonly though, it's Erupt+CoB+x+y.
What's also interesting is that Eruption is declining in usage slightly, probably because more folks are learning to play around it.
It wouldn't surprise me if this is an issue that fixes itself.

Confidence interval? I never got around to stats before I got sick but I helped my friends with it.
Anyways, I don't have high confidence in it. Prior to the 6.1.0 patch, NightLight shows DH with a 47% pick rate, presumably at high mmr. The official stats show DH at a 70% pick rate at high mmr.
That's a pretty huge difference. I think you can use it to show trends, like in usage, but not really for specific points.
I think they're defining 'high MMR' slightly differently.
Again, Nightlight isn't something I'd put money on being numerically accurate, it's more just a generally representative sample of what the high...ish? MMR meta looks like on the ground.

The sample size is big enough that your confidence level (I forget the correct term, Statistics was a long time ago) is fairly high - it's probably not perfectly representative of high MMR play, but it's likely pretty damn close.

The thing with killers like him and pinhead is that, while they are very weak in a lot of situations, the specific circumstances where they are good, they are basically unbeatable. Dealing with that specific scenario can be very frustrating because even if you make no mistakes and do everything right, you still loose.
Those who come here and complain about them are those who just faced those situations and are understandably frustrated and come to vent, making it look like no one has anything good to say about them. Even if there is helluva lot more people beating the crap out of those killers on a daily basis who have no reason to come here and let everyone know.
They are just that polarizing.
I really like playing against both of them, weirdly. Especially Pinhead. Unless he's just going out of his way to grief, like standing AFK on the box or a Trickster is facecamping.

There isn't any anti-synergy with pain res. You kick gens and apply brine+eruption and see if survivors are nearby. You down to get eruption and then pain res for more slowdown.
The issue with that build is that often, once people know what you're doing, they'll let that gen regress unless it's almost done and just rotate. It makes it very hard to apply Eruption.
Now, if you wanted - say - to make PR erase Eruption from that gen? That's a sensible change.

Is there a build in the game better than brine, nowhere, erupt, pain res? I don't see an eruption nerf changing that build. It simply has great synergy with brine and would maintain its spot.
Depends on the map and survivors. If you run that build into a bad map/good team/good SWF, you're going to get pantsed. Too many eggs, too small a basket.
PR has a pretty big anti-synergy with it, actually. People are doing that one because they're silly and took ALL the T1 perks from Otz's video then bashed them together, or something.
If I was going to build around CoB+Eruption, it would be CoB+Eruption+LP+NTH, or PR+DMS+FOR+Discordance (my go to build). Probably more something like PR+DMS+DH+Undying on Hag and Trapper, although I might just go Surge+CI on those instead of PR.
But other killers...I go deeper on info.

If you are using call of brine what other perks would you use instead of eruption if it was 15%10s? Pain res is a fairly strong perk and I don't see why you would want that over eruption if you are already using brine. I can't see how the perk isn't still very strong when paired with brine.
Brine would be doing almost all of the heavy lifting. You'd be better of just slotting NTH...or, more likely, going PR+DMS with everyone else.

That's a bit unlucky.
But okay - you nerf Eruption. To the ground. Because that is what happens to regression perks (see Ruin, Thana, Overcharge).
Now it's just CI/PR/DMS all the way down.
How long, do you estimate, it'll take before the front page is carping about PR+DMS, how it's the most boring, unfun thing to face, how if BHVR don't nerf it people are quitting and the rest.
Eruption could be tuned to be nicer for solos - but if it's keep it as it is, so there's at least some variety in the regression meta, or destroy it, then Eruption stays.

and you got one, at least half my games, 3 in a row just now. And how often do I get hit on average? Well as Im a solo queue player as I already explained, and I dont have a crystal ball which I can pull out my ass to see when my team mates are going down then... a lot?
Going off NightLight, which is generally high MMR stuff - so where you'd expect to see the meta, last time I checked it was 28-30%. So that's some...incredible luck.
A few things, as someone who plays a fair amount of solo queue and can generally deal with Eruption.
- Run Empathy. Survivors move a certain way before they go down in almost all cases.
- If you see someone spinning, let go immediately.
It's not a perfect counter, because anything with a perfect counter is a bad perk. But I think I'm avoiding at least 50% of Eruptions now, and it could easily be 60% if I was a bit more conservative letting go.

Makes sense
Camping and tunneling vs swf. How do you camp a player that can be on the hook for 3 minutes with reassurance? Are you talking about comp and such where they don't allow full builds on survivor and they camp and tunnel?
Because if you make otr only take one hit but work with endurance players can use base bt to body block and then still have otr if you tunnel them. A problem old bt and ds had.
And if you don't see eruption getting its secondary effect it would be a buff. It's 10% of a gen now and I was saying it should go to 15%. It would be a 15 second nerf vs soloq and a 4.5 sec buff for players that can avoid it. Seems like a very logical change.
You're either angling for a single kill or you're trying to get people off gens and milling around the hook. Again, camping is generally a pretty high risk/high reward play unless you're just aiming for 1 kill, or being a bastard to a final pair.
Eh...I'm not sure what this would really accomplished.
Eruption would basically be a bad perk at that point. It's another high risk/high reward perk, as it has multiple conditions to do anything. It's extremely volatile, much like old Ruin used to be - because either it does nothing or it crushes face.
But again - BHVR don't generally rework regression perks. They just nerf them into uselessness.
See: Ruin, Thana.

Legion and Pinhead are more hated.
It probably stems from the fact that a lot of people disliked him being added to the game and felt it was a pretty blatant cash-grab attempt. Also that he's super weak in most scenarios but in the places where he's good, there is LITERALLY nothing you can do.
Legion is 0.5% below him on my little set, but...yeah, they're close.
Pinhead - at #5. Below Trickster, Legion, Nurse and Plague.

I don't watch the cc, but I did hear they changed the rules to make the win condition off hooks and not kills.
Can you go over how camping works when survivors can stay on hook for nearly 3 minutes per stage and then have another player trade out?
How is a player with bt not able to body block and then having otr actually do what it is intended to do a buff for swf? They can keep the survivor on hook with reassurance if you proxy camp and if you leave and come back they can use "for the people". I don't see how you can legit tunnel and camp a swf that are bringing an actual build. Maybe I'm missing something here.
Eruption would go from 40 seconds vs soloq to 25. Old pop was 20 seconds. A good swf is 9 seconds now vs 13.5 with the "nerf". Also, how is this perk not always used with brine? You are already kicking gens and just get to freely apply eruption. I don't see this being an issue unless you are just looking to use eruption as your sole kick perk. Then again it is a buff vs swf that are able to get off the gens at the correct time. Could also remove the laughable 30 second cd.
That rule was changed because killers were literally struggling to get a kill in some games.
Huh?
Oh I see what you mean. I thought you meant complete invulnerability. Eh...I don't see what that would really do.
You can, but it's more of a means to an end.
Eruption would only go to 25 assuming every single one hits, and that's not at all my experience.

Not from my experience.
Early mornings can still be sweaty, but evenings - yeah, it's SWFs a lot but I can hold my own against most of them unless I'm on a new killer.
Killers...so much depends on my teammates as survivor that it's difficult to judge.

As long as MMR exists no matchmaking will work. We don't have enough players, and yes i'm accounting for CROSSPLAY, to warrant not only an MMR system but a functioning matchmaking using MMR.
MMR in DbD is all but uselesss since there's absolutly no way to do any sort of tracking on any sort of statistics to have any guess where you'd be placed. BHVR themselves already admitted the system fails at depicting skill so why it's used it's beyond me except for the fact they've spent an entire year and thus lots of money during that year to attempt the system so now wer'e stuck with it wether we like it or not. And we don't like it...
Plus the Cap for MMR is so low that i'll argue 90% of the active playerbase is High MMR without much effort. It doesn't matter if you're 2000 MMR or 2 million MMR, if you're above the soft Cap then you're High MMR.
Matchmaking should always prioritize connection quality imo. Whats the reason for prioritizing queue times if the connection is bad and the match doesn't play well? The only reason DbD is prioritizing queue times is because there's been a massive drop in the player count. The game went went from nearly 70k active players just in Steam to about 34k. Roughly 50% of the player base has left the game since July 2021.
I'm from Portugal and i spend more time playing with and against Russian players, be it day time or night time than i do against any other players from any other region.
My survivor matches are either 4 man escapes or 4 man fails, there's absolutly no consistancy to my matches. I can be on a winning streak and then i'm randomly put with something i'd describe as absolute BOTS. On killer it's even worse i don't even get easy matches whatsoever and i'm strictly unable to play certain killers or it's guaranteed that i won't even get a single Hook. I legit can't play Wraith or Ghostface if i'm against Russian players, i'll get the sweatiest survivors you can imagine, body blocking on first hook, insta sabos, insta saves, you name it i've faced it. If i play Sadako or Pyramid Head i can have "normal" matches but if i win 2 matches in a row then i'm immediatly sent to "death row".
Eh.
MMR works fine in games with smaller communities and works fine here. It's not perfect, but it's better than what we had before.
They never said 'fails', within recent memory.
The cap is absolutely not that low.
Yes, this game is snowbally.

On Deathslinger I always feel cheated on shots as it visually appears to have hit their body but doesn’t register as a hit. The max range of his harpoon is also very annoying. Lastly he’s got a lot of bad addons. The only thing DS has going for him is that he’s rarely played so you get the hipster feel. Both have a very high skill cap for some crazy trick shots that survivors don’t expect. Huntress will overall feel more rewarding and has decent addons though. You can really get screwed by map selection however.
Tried some Slinger this afternoon and woof yeah. This killer is exactly what I was worried he was like - very clunky and one dimensional. Did not really how awful aiming felt.

I watch umbra, ohtofu, bronx, and hexy and only really notice problems in hexy's games. Hexy is also the only one that camps and tunnels. The dude even has the fishing soundtrack from OoT for when he camps with wraith. I'm guessing I don't really see it since players doing this wouldn't stay at the soft cap.
You could have reassurance show white for the survivors hook progress to show everyone that they don't have to save. You can do a system where survivors can callout if they are being camped. You can make survivors not have collision coming off hook and then make otr work for one hook state (like ds) while working with endurance. Can change eruption to 15% and 10 sec incap. Are any of those things buffs to swf? I would argue that it would be nerfing swf while giving large buffs to soloq.
Camping isn't fun. I've played since day one and so I'm from era of the game where players cared about other fun to a extent. Think that is why I mentioned it since you were asking about camping.
If they show camping then it will help with gen efficiency. Players will no longer waste time getting off gens just to find the player is being camped. I would then say doing things like I mentioned up top to further bridge the gap.
Every killer camps and tunnels sometimes - because, at the highest levels of play, that's how you have to play. Did you watch the CC?
As to your suggestions:
- Sure...but that would do less than the status icons.
- They have an icon for camp, but the commonly accepted 'wave your arms up and down' still works.
- That would be basically free unhooks. That would be a massive buff to SWF.
- So...almost as bad as pre-rework Eruption. Gotcha. So...just PR+DMS every match then? Okay. You'd have to buff the numbers substantially. And that's never, ever, ever going to happen.
- How in the blithering hell would that be a nerf to SWF?
Yes. 'I've played since day 1'. Gotcha.
Again, that is not an argument. That is you trying to substitute arbitrary numbers in place of an argument. You may have played this game for a long time, but I've lived for a long time, and in my experience...well, experience often just means you've been wrong for longer.
AFAIK, there is an icon for camping. And no, 1 would be a big meh, one is already in there, one would be silly, one would just be gutting a perk.

Then she spent 60 seconds staring at your locker while your teammates (hopefully) were doing generators. That's still value.
The timer is fine. DS just doesn't do enough to discourage tunneling because the stun is too short and, for some killers, is at most a minor inconvenience that isn't really an actual deterrent at all.
Bingo. DS exists as both active and passive tunneling insurance.
It's a weirdly designed perk in that it can also be pretty abusive, especially when you OTR bodyblock into DH into locker, into DS.
-
@drsoontm said:

@GoodBoyKaru said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3323833#Comment_3323833
You need to:
- Get tunneled
- Go down within 60 seconds
- Not make it obvious you have DS, else you're slugged and your body camped until DS expires (or they'll sit outside your locker creepily, just outside of Head On range until you get AFK crows)
- Go down in a safe area
- Do nothing productive for your team within those 60 seconds
- Not be facing a Nurse, Blight, or Spirit
- Hope they don't then continue to chase you after eating your DS, which they probably will, and if they do be running Dead Hard
- Ensure all other survivors are being as time efficient on generators as possible, to make your sacrifice worth it.
If you've met all of those conditions, you'd still most likely be better off bringing other perks. Hell, Reassurance would do more in this situation than DS would in terms of purely buying time.
So sure, some of the best players can use the perk well, but it's still objectively weaker than DH, UB, SB, BT, Adrenaline, COH, or any perk that allows gens to fly. And for all players that aren't within the category of "better streamers" or who just have the misfortune to play solo queue, it's outclassed by even more perks.
- Yes...or bait the killer into picking you up.
- 60 seconds is a long time.
- Locker.
- Yes.
- It's not really there to be 'productive'. It's there as anti-tunnel insurance. If you could do productive stuff, it would be back to basically being an extra life.
- Nurse and Blight are anomalies. Those killers are just...Nurse and Blight. The game shouldn't be balanced around them, they should be balanced around the game. I still don't buy Spirit being anywhere near those, outside of one addon combination that, sadly, is also an accessibility aid.
- You aren't running Dead Hard?
- Sadly, you can't control your teammates. But that's neither here nor there.
Would you? I still see a lot of DS. Reass is more about a facecamping situation which...really isn't that common anymore.
'Objectively weaker' is tough, because you're comparing apples to double decker buses. All of these perks serve different purposes within the context of the game. DS is supposed to be there as a 'oh you're tunneling me, eat this!' perk.
Yes, it's niche...slightly, and is more something you'll see at high MMR where you can expect to be tactically tunneled at some point. But it's still a damn fine perk.
I didn't mind it at 5 seconds, but I almost never tunnel. It was Self Cared/Thana'd...or better yet Ruined, because it was used too much. And unlike those perks, it still actually serves a purpose :)
-
@GoodBoyKaru said:
They could literally remove the timer at this point because the 3 second stun is still barely a tickle to the best killers in the game.
Make it a 5 second stun too, tbh. It deactivates upon doing literally anything remotely useful and isn't active as soon as all gens are done. The second the 5th gen pops the perk literally stops iirc so it wouldn't even be broken if the stun was longer.
I thought so, then I started watching some of the better survivor streamers and...it's still plenty strong. You just need to make sure to go down somewhere slightly safe.
3 seconds is still a long time.
-
I personally don't see players dc or going next right away
Then you're either being disingenuous, or should start playing the lottery TODAY.
soloq changes do nothing for me. All I see it doing is helping players with bad game sense and a qol buff in general. Without a doubt a buff, but knowing that players are being worthless in game doesn't magically change the outcome. If I were really far away from the hooked guy, then I'm sitting on my gen. This buff helps when there is another survivor really far away thinking the same thing. I rarely find myself in this scenario though. Maybe the chase thing is big, but I really don't expect the bar to move at all with the change. It was a bigger problem an entire year ago, but soloq is in a much worse spot now compared to then.
So...what's your solution? BHVR have said emphatically that they'll never balance solo and SWF differently. You can't buff solos in a way that won't buff SWF.
Solo queue is about in the same spot, from what I've been seeing. Baseline BT was a massive solo buff.
There is no form post with players exchanging rules lol. It was basically what players knew was unfun and would punish players that would abuse unfun things. The player base was smaller back then so if you got a rep for being a little ######### head then you were going to have a bad time. Ohtofu has talked about the good ol days of dbd. Even back then I think Zubatlel went on the Africa server because they dead and made farming parties for legacy. The rule book was basically you don't do unfun things and neither will I.
So what exactly was the rulebook you've been on about?
Yes, smaller communities have a different vibe. But had this community stayed small, the game would have died.
'Unfun' is subjective. Some folks hate playing against Hag. Find someone who doesn't dislike something. Because what people don't like, at the end of the day, is losing.
Does reassurance show on the icon in the new update? Is there an icon when a killer is camping hook? Me seeing players not doing gens doesn't magically make me win more games. Hell, sometimes I don't use bond or kindred for the sake of my mental health. Can't wait to be running the killer and 2 players are doing totems!!!
Then...why not find an SWF?
Reass - no idea. Yes for camping.
I have a feeling that you're not going to be satisfied with any attempts to help solo queue that BHVR is willing to try, so I guess you have two options at this point.
I'll @ whoever I like.
No, I admit that I'm not very good at survivor. I'm decent on killer, but you know - always something new to learn.
Also...you know, if you're going to flame and make a fool of yourself, the least you could do was be coherent about it.
-
Doesn't quitters show there is maybe an issue going on?
Yes. It shows that the penalties aren't strong enough.
Every team MP game I can think of that didn't have strong penalties for quitting was ruined by it.
I also don't see how that how that would have an effect on kill rates.
A single suicide generally means a 4k.
Are you getting games where survivors just straight up give up at the start of the game?
Frequently on the first down/hook, but sometimes later.
Are you running certain build/playstyles that would cause them to do this?
Nope. And you'll see when I do my dataset thing. There was a tiny difference in quitting rate (like...2%) between games where I camped and games where I 2 hooked everyone. Flans or streamers made 0 difference. Which killer or perks I picked made 0 difference.
The only thing that decreased quitting was basically just letting them win.
The entire problem right now is soloq is basically nerfed while swf stays the same.
Uh...what?
Solo is about to get a massive help with the new status icons.
Not going to bother with the build stuff, as that's a totally different topic.
Yea I'm not seeing the reduction on those playstyles.
Again, you'll see in my dataset. But you can also compare the kill rates before and after 6.1.0 on 'camper' killers.
If a killer is losing it's an expected thing now.
Yes, because it's a roll of the dice and maybe snags them a kill. Do you...just expect killers to stand and face a wall or something?
Seriously, if you're going to begrudge a killer that 1k and maybe a comeback when they've got 2 hooks and the final gen is about to pop...that's really, really petty and rather meanspirited.
No, there was like actual rules the player base made so everyone could have fun.
I spent a good hour this morning looking for anything that predates the parody, and nope - nothing. Unless you've got an actual link, I'm pressing doubt.
They could make reassurance make the person hook bar turn white to show the other soloq survivors that they can sit on gens. There is already a perk that deals with camping and for some reason it's much better for swf than soloq. Simple info like that can go a long way.
You mean like...maybe some sort of custom status icons to let other solo players know what you're doing at any point in time?
-
Mkay.
I love how I see some killer main threads making it seem like everything in this game is about 2nd chance perks.
They aren't entirely wrong.
DS - hey mr killer, if you try to get an ez win by tunneling an off hooked survivor, I guess it makes sense that he should have a way to defened himself from your ez win strat isn't he? also, as a blight main at least, it's funny when I getr hit by ds cause it does nothing.
DS is a completely fine perk. I still see it used a ton by some of the best survivors in the world. You need to use a bit of foresight though and go down in a place where you can escape from.
OTR = hey mr killer, if you try to get an ez win by tunneling an off hooked survivor, I guess it makes sense that he should have a way to defened himself from your ez win strat isn't he? also if you take the inital BT hit straight off hook, this perk is useless(other than the Iron will effect).
That Iron Will effect is insanely strong. OTR is an amazing perk for...oh man, so many reasons.
Keep in mind you can chain an OTR into a Dead Hard into a DS.
I don't count these as 2nd chance perks
Shrug. You are free to count a bag of Jelly Babies as your dinner, but it won't stop you from being constipated.
since they're only being used if the killer tries to take the most easy and efficent strat to win a dbd game - tunneling
Then they are, by definition, second chance perks. That's what a second chance perk does.
DH - old DH was busted, nowdays, it's very strong on pallets BUT, most of the times you can get them out if you bait it pretty easily, most of the time they won't reach to a pallet and even if they do many times u can time the hit and still get them after the animation is over.
DH is a high risk/high reward Ex perk. You need a bit of skill and a bit of luck to pull it off, but it's insanely strong when you do. And it also gives enormous passive deterrence, the killer will frequently waste time trying to bait it out. Go watch some Ayrun games if you want to see what this perk can do in the right hands.
Also, It's not a true 2nd chance perk since if the survivor brought SB/BL/Lithe he would get a 100% distance guaranteed from you, DH is a risk, sometimes it won't give u any value and they basically did a chase with no exhuastion perk to begin with( if you're a competent killer, it should be most of the time for you).
Once again, you are free to try and define things out of existence, but it won't change reality. SB has a substantial trade-off. Lithe is quite map/RNG dependent. BL is like Lithe, but more so.
Unbreakable - If you decide to slug survivors, making them not being able to do anything fun just to get pressure, you have to realize this strat must have a counterplay, unbreakable is an healthy perks that most of the games won't even work.
Slugging is completely fine unless you're doing it to BM. It's frequently the only way to win games (go watch the recent community cups if you want to see what I mean). UB is a fair perk though, and I...cannot recall the last time I saw a QQ thread about it.
Adrenaline - works only if you team does gens, until that stage it gives no value at all and if you're not being in chase/injured at the end game, other than the speed you get pretty much nothing.
...What?
That speed is amazing. And it'll pick you up if you're slugged, or heal you if you're injured or come off the hook.
Honestly, I don't see the point of this thread. All you're trying to do is paint a lazy strawman of killers, define things out of existence and downplay every single perk you name by going 'well, what if x?'.
DS is fine. UB is fine. OTR is fine when it's used as an anti-tunnel perk, but it generally works as a free bodyblock. DH is probably borderline OP. Adrenaline is and has always been a busted perk that pretty much negates the entire endgame.

Seriously, why is it so hard to be put up against people that are similar in skill to me? When I played survivor, my matches, for the most part, were great in terms of the killers I faced and teammates I got. Now that I am taking a break, the majority of my matches are lopsided and I end up feeling hopeless when I play. It's like every survivor I chase knows exactly what to do, how to do it and how to counter me.
Before anyone says anything, yes, I am bad. I hit my skill ceiling a long time ago, there is no amount of "git gud" that I can do. I'm not asking to nerf survivors, I'm not asking to change the game, I'm just asking to be matched up fairly. Is that too much to ask for?
Is there a problem with killer population at higher mmr? Is that why I keep getting these sweat lords? I mean, every time I log on, killer always has a blood point bonus of 50% before 6PM and 100% after.
I'm at the point where I'm wanting to just play Bubba and watch the light die out of my victims eyes as they lose hope until I finally break my addiction to this game and move on.
Sorry if this can be considered as a rant, but it is extremely frustrating.
A few things.
- Lobby dodges cause the matchmaker to freak out and grab whoever is next in line. This can make for some weird games.
- Yes, people are starting to realize the power of some of those new perks (Fogwise is seriously going to need a look, this perk is sleeper busted) and killers are starting to struggle again - I'm seeing more and more 100% incentive on killer.
- A change was made recently to MMR, where - if you take a break - your MMR will be very volatile when you return. So a single loss or three can shift you down dramatically, but once you get your eye in again you're facing opponents too easy for you.
- Apparently there's a bug with Demogorgon that gives him an inflated MMR, but this is impossible to verify.
- However - as you struggle and lose, your MMR will fall and you'll face more suitable opponents.

... I really don't see how that can make visibility worse, though, on a non-OLED panel we're still talking 'the game is sending no information to the graphics card to render there', and I've never thought Midwich is particularly poorly lit in the first place.
Like, yeah, an OLED can do true blacks, but whether you're playing on an OLED or a cheap old twisted pairs LCD, there's either something there to show or not. xD
I'd have to show you a video of what it looks like on my end. Some Autohaven maps and Midwich are absurdly dark.

Is it? I've never had any issues seeing anything on midwich.
I play on an OLED screen, which makes for very dark blacks (as the screen is literally turned off in those areas).

Really? I see quite a few Slingers.

Personally, I don't think it's one of the indoor maps. I'd actually argue it's the bloody swamp. Is that a vault or a bit of scenery? Who knows unless you're at the right angle! Where's that person that's gone round the corner? Who can tell, the grass is nearly impenetrable and everywhere and the entire thing is full of hills and obstructions!
It's like they took Coldwind and scrunched it up to make as dense and impenetrable a map as possible.
Gas Heaven, Cowshed, GoJ.
Midwich is just obnoxiously dark.

Blindness is...ugh.
Very annoying in solo, utterly crap against SWF.
