Increase ds timer to 80s so it would be even bit useful.

60s timer is way too short and I purposelly have to go down to get value out of it. And if you go exactly down that there is only few secs left of it. Killer will not pick you up fearing someone tries flashy save some even seem to still count it. The reward is only pallet stun with current ds so it definetely could be lot longer than the old 5s stun. It would actually work as decent anti-tunneling perk agains't killers who walk.

EDIT: No ice cream until I learn to read.

    The issue isn't the timer.

It's that it resets by you getting a cup of coffee.

What other games do is make the penalty only decay after playing x number of games without DCing.

  • As far as I recall there has been a lot of asking to revoke the stun to the old 5s, even from the killer community. While in the past getting stunned from DS was a constant thing to keep in mind and play around, nowadays its just a nusiance and can be basically ignored in all but the most special of cases. It was only the 100% free escape during EGC that rubbed a lot of killers the wrong way, with lot of situation were they had absolutely no option of getting a kill and everyone got away scott free.

The deactivation during EGC would have been enough.

I think you're thinking of the DC (Disconnect) timer, not the DS (Decisive Strike) timer.

I love the idea of a survivor getting a cup of coffee as part of using a perk though.

Not sure I'd look forward to seeing people running DS, OTR, DH, and... I dunno, Adrenaline or Unbreakable? Just wanting to maximise the amount of body blocking they can do.

... not sure how effective it would be, but in terms of sheer annoyingness to deal with.

    Hahaha so I did.

DS...eh. I still see it plenty, and I see it in comp. 80 seconds though...sure? Hell, could make it last until you perform a conspicuous action.

5s was a bit much to be honest.

  • The timer is fine as it is. All DS needed was deactivating in end game. They should move the stun back to 5 seconds, 3 seconds even against an m1 killer is a lot of the time useless. 90% of the time I get hit with a DS they go instantly back down before reaching anything and that’s on m1 killers.

Well forever would be too long and bit too annoying to face as killer so im thinking 80s would be enough like otr. 5s was bit too much for normal m1 killers. But im fine it staying 3s if the timer is increased well maybe it could be 3,5s like otzdarva suggested some time ago. Myself I think it could disable killer power for few secs so it would do something agains't nurse.

Go down close to a good pallet or tile and you should be fine.

  • They could literally remove the timer at this point because the 3 second stun is still barely a tickle to the best killers in the game.

Make it a 5 second stun too, tbh. It deactivates upon doing literally anything remotely useful and isn't active as soon as all gens are done. The second the 5th gen pops the perk literally stops iirc so it wouldn't even be broken if the stun was longer.

I thought so, then I started watching some of the better survivor streamers and...it's still plenty strong. You just need to make sure to go down somewhere slightly safe.

3 seconds is still a long time.

3 seconds is still a long time.

    You need to:

    • Get tunneled
    • Go down within 60 seconds
    • Not make it obvious you have DS, else you're slugged and your body camped until DS expires (or they'll sit outside your locker creepily, just outside of Head On range until you get AFK crows)
    • Go down in a safe area
    • Do nothing productive for your team within those 60 seconds
    • Not be facing a Nurse, Blight, or Spirit
    • Hope they don't then continue to chase you after eating your DS, which they probably will, and if they do be running Dead Hard
    • Ensure all other survivors are being as time efficient on generators as possible, to make your sacrifice worth it.

If you've met all of those conditions, you'd still most likely be better off bringing other perks. Hell, Reassurance would do more in this situation than DS would in terms of purely buying time.

So sure, some of the best players can use the perk well, but it's still objectively weaker than DH, UB, SB, BT, Adrenaline, COH, or any perk that allows gens to fly. And for all players that aren't within the category of "better streamers" or who just have the misfortune to play solo queue, it's outclassed by even more perks.

  • The problem isn't the timer, the problem is that a 3 second stun is often ineffective especially against S tier killers or those that have other ways to slow you down (eg. Clown throwing a bottle at the floor before picking up the survivor with DS).

Imo, the stun should be 5 seconds, but decreased by 0.5 seconds for every gen completed (up to the first four gens completed where it'd be 3 seconds again, then after the 5th it's disabled anyway). So if you tunnel at 5 gens, you get the old 5 second stun, but eating a DS at 1 or 2 gens isn't as punishing.

  • The Timer is not the issue. 60 seconds is a decent time IMO. The problem is the stun time, 3 seconds of stun mean that the actual amount of distance gained is just around 1,7 seconds, since 1,3 seconds are used for the animation. So the actual distance a Survivors gets is around 7 meters. This makes it really restrictive to get use out of it. And a 80 second timer would not change that.

DS has become a mild inconvenience and nothing which needs to be avoided anymore. Before with 5 seconds, the Killer would still tunnel, but at least they got punished more for it. Now it does not really do much and this is the main issue.

IMO DS was in a perfect spot after it was deactivated once all Gens were done. If anything, they could have thought about things to make its Anti-Tunnel capacity better. But reducing the stun to 3 seconds was really not the best idea.

    • Yes...or bait the killer into picking you up.
    • 60 seconds is a long time.
    • Locker.
    • Yes.
    • It's not really there to be 'productive'. It's there as anti-tunnel insurance. If you could do productive stuff, it would be back to basically being an extra life.
    • Nurse and Blight are anomalies. Those killers are just...Nurse and Blight. The game shouldn't be balanced around them, they should be balanced around the game. I still don't buy Spirit being anywhere near those, outside of one addon combination that, sadly, is also an accessibility aid.
    • You aren't running Dead Hard?
    • Sadly, you can't control your teammates. But that's neither here nor there.

Would you? I still see a lot of DS. Reass is more about a facecamping situation which...really isn't that common anymore.

'Objectively weaker' is tough, because you're comparing apples to double decker buses. All of these perks serve different purposes within the context of the game. DS is supposed to be there as a 'oh you're tunneling me, eat this!' perk.

Yes, it's niche...slightly, and is more something you'll see at high MMR where you can expect to be tactically tunneled at some point. But it's still a damn fine perk.

I didn't mind it at 5 seconds, but I almost never tunnel. It was Self Cared/Thana'd...or better yet Ruined, because it was used too much. And unlike those perks, it still actually serves a purpose :)

Then she spent 60 seconds staring at your locker while your teammates (hopefully) were doing generators. That's still value.

The timer is fine. DS just doesn't do enough to discourage tunneling because the stun is too short and, for some killers, is at most a minor inconvenience that isn't really an actual deterrent at all.

Bingo. DS exists as both active and passive tunneling insurance.

It's a weirdly designed perk in that it can also be pretty abusive, especially when you OTR bodyblock into DH into locker, into DS.

  • My opinion is if they turned off collision for the survivor while OTR and DS were active the timers could be lengthened to until a conspicuous action was performed and tunneling would be discouraged far more than it is now.

It would also benefit Killers as attempts to OTR bodyblock would be useless as the Killer could just run through the survivor with OTR active and hit their intended target. Since it would deactivate upon doing anything productive anyone attempting to mindgame the Killer with it would be throwing the game as long as the Killer just targeted anyone other than the last person hooked.
