i officially give up on killer i deal with alot for the extra blood points clicky swf groups fine whatever devs hating killers and making sure you have a total 1 minute before the gates are open fine i can manage even when we begged for help with hexes getting destroyed as soon as you spawn and they answered by giving survivors hexes they get to choose where they go and can repair as soon as you find it sure i love a little masochism in my games but now literally making dead hard a perk so used its basically base kit bugged out on killer side to the point where you legit cant wait it out because they can just use it after they get hit i would need 100k bp just for queueing as killer because all killer is now is a meat puppet for survivors to t bag theres no point in even bothering to hook
DH is going to have to get a look. It was a meta perk before the validation fix (see: buff) and now it's a tad too strong, especially due to the amount of 'fake hits' it gives killers, which not only results in a dropped chase but can also cause some killers' powers to bug-out, for example Nemesis's tentacle to not break pallets correctly.
That said, I can mostly play around it. Honestly PTS and Spinechill scare me more sometimes.

Absolutely and survivors tbag and clicky and even sometimes message you about how great they are. This game is set up in EVERY possible way for you to survive. They have learned every glitch & broken game play (even the one where they run up against you and you can't hit them unless you back away).
Survivor is literally for children it is so easy. Anyone who says otherwise does not play killer past 10PM
Usually a clicky clicky macro or a teabagger is a signal to me to suddenly start playing sweaty (I'm usually a pretty chill killer) and to show absolutely no mercy.
If they run up to you, immediately step back and tap m1. You'll always hit them.
The frustrating survivors are the SWF groups that know where the silly pseudo-infinites are (the 'House of Pain' in Badham/Haddonfield, the barge on the swamp maps etc.) and just run there immediately the second you get into a chase with them.
If I'm not on a killer with anti-loop or traversal abilities, there isn't much I can do and I'm very tempted to just AFK the match out.

Just why?
Do you know how he plays on controller? You know the input half of your playerbase is playing on.
This is gonna be true horror experience in this game after so long, amazing.
Challenges can be really silly sometimes. I'm busy working through some of the older archives at present and a few of them make me go 'okay, who thought that was a good idea?'.

Only met one so far, they accused me of being a cheater who's hacking afterwards because they thought Hex: Plaything applied only to the first survivor hooked.
Survivors can be really salty in postgame, but I'm hesitant to turn it off as I occasionally meet someone really pleasant/funny. If you crack a Dad joke in postgame, you'll have a friend for life.
I've been accused of/had report threats for:
- Wallhacking (often), usually it's Discordance, Retribution (I'm getting a lot of use out of Retribution+Plaything) or occasionally an addon.
- General 'reported for hacking' because I used LP/got lucky early/someone hid in a really obvious locker. A lot of survivors don't realize that you can see infected survivor's 'stink clouds' when they are in lockers.
- Deliberately focusing down people with pride pins/Claudettes (no chaps and chappettes, those things are not everything-proof shields, I will tunnel you if you get hooked first. I don't even see your avatars/pins mostly).
- 'Unsportsmanlike conduct' for not giving people free unhooks, using strong addons or - most commonly - 'not giving them a chance when they had an early DC'.
- 'Holding the game hostage' when I do give them a chance after they have a DC.
My all time favorite 'wut' moment though went something like this.
About a year ago, I played Hag as my first 'main' (I just love her tactical style).
Postgame went something like this.
Me: GGWP
Player: U wyt?
Me: What?
Player: U wyt?
Me: I have no idea what that means. Am I alright?
Player: R U white?
Me: Yeah?
Player: wypipo shouldn't play hag. It's not right.
That one left me scratching my head, I'll say that much.

Be careful what teachable perks you unlock lol
This is excellent advice. If I could go back and do one thing differently in DbD it would be to focus on unlocking BBQ and a few other perks on all the killers I want to play first before clogging up my trees with garbo perks. I've put easily 2 million BP into some killers and still haven't unlocked Retribution etc. I refuse to Prestige anyone for this reason.
@GannTM said:
How to level up characters. I haven’t gotten a character to level 2 weeks into me playing lol.
Some killers earn BP much faster than others. I find Plague and Wraith to be worse earners than Doctor, Hag or Cenobite. Most killers also earn BP faster than most survivors, so it can be better to farm up BP on an 'earner' and then pour those into what you want.

I'd make this a poll, but there wouldn't be room for every killer.
Personally, I love Twins for this one (ambushing with charlotte and sniping with Victor).
let me know who you think and why! (keep in mind this is using their power perfectly, so getting cross-map huntress hatchet hits, never being seen and ambushing someone who you've fully stalked all at once as ghostie, etc.)
PH's blast, especially when you get multiple survivors.
Ditto Plague's red vommy.
Grabbing someone is always satisfying, but Pinhead's animation takes the cake.

I love playing as the Doctor when utilized properly, he can lock down a shack even when the pallet is dropped. I had some survivors try to loop me and I refused to break the pallet. I went to the shack window and shocked them, as I shocked, I quickly vaulted and they got stuck by the pallet that's when I downed them. Was so satisfying lol
Doc is a fun killer, but it's frustrating how often shocks just seem to fail to stop actions. It feels like something is squiffy with the validation mechanics.

Before the buff I was struggling infecting good survivors, now with the Prayer Tablet brown addon this problem is solve.

I played maybe 10 or 20 games and I only lost one.
For the first time I think I can compete against swf.
My mmr went higher, the survivors better and better, but... Im unstoppable ?!
I used Tinkerer, Thanato, Pop, Corrupt, my Plague is P0 lvl50 I just took what I had. But its working well.
Im in love with the new plague, the new brown addon and the new skin.
Good loopers can do nothing, I get sooo easy down everybody injured and if they cleansed, its worse for them. The one team that beat me was not cleansing at all and it works.
So thank you Behaviour, new Plague is so funny and so good. Playing killer never felt this fun before.
The Plague rework is one of the few unambiguously 'great job BHVR' moments. She's just fantastic now - strong, adaptable, good addons that totally change the way you play, but still has room to be outplayed by survivors.

PS 2 : She is so good someone accused me of hacking 😂
Looking at the Pig 'rework', I wouldn't hold your breath.
I am hopeful though. Will have to see what they do with the upcoming Ghostface rework.

How are people who main something biased!? Lol its the exact opposite if someone mains a certain side they can give details and experiences to the developers on how to properly balance. I main killer but im not biased at all! I play survivor as well and this is a key point.

In my head sometimes i go. Damn the gens are so fast or way too fast but this is when i have 0 regression perks or gen defense. Thats as far as it goes though I know that my non Ruin builds need work and especially with the current meta i definetly need Undying/Ruin especially with my weaker killers. Otherwise i do end game builds
The problem is that this necessitates one or two perks being mandatory if you want to play solo. I'd rather give survivors a more substantial set of gestures or emotes to communicate when voicecoms aren't available.

What is the difference between a safe and unsafe pallet?
What does ttv mean?
A safe pallet is a pallet with either large obstacles surrounding it on both sides, or walls. It means that the killer can't just walk around the edges and bop you one. An unsafe pallet, on the other hand, only really works if you predrop it - it has a small obstacle on one/both sides that the killer can just walk around.
.TTV is usually someone who streams their games on Twitch.
These tend to smurf a lot (sandbagging their MMR when they aren't streaming to face easier opponents in order to look better on stream) or at least tend to be really sweaty or BM.
-
@Pizzasauce said:
What are some tips and tricks you wish you would've knew before you started playing? They can be simple or complicated. I'll start with a super simple one that I struggled with so hard.
While playing on the Xbox, when repairing a generator, hold down RB while pressing LB on skill check. This will save you many a shoo away from your team mates and shame locker cool downs.
From killer perspective:
- Gen regression is often less powerful than the pressure caused by hooking someone and chasing someone else.
- Learn what the difference between a 'safe' and 'unsafe' pallet is - mindgame the unsafe ones and break the safe ones ASAP.
- If you see a .TTV in the lobby, dodge.
- Don't try to play games of attrition against booners.
- Don't walk through paths with a pallet while carrying someone.
- Always look at a wall when you pick someone up.
- Always try to eliminate 1 player as early as possible.
- Don't overcommit to chases unless you are going to force a lot of pallet drops.
- On some maps, it's best to establish a 'zone' of maybe 4 gens and patrol them rather than trying to keep all the gens.
- On killers without anti-loop/traversal skills, there are still some pseudo-infinites in the game. Some can be made manageable with breakable walls (Badham houses) and some can't (Haddonfield).
- Always try to approach gens at an oblique angle in order not to set off Spinechill.
- Don't be afraid to slug if you can get another down easily.
- Learn what perks survivors have baseline and anticipate them.
- Sometimes, getting up onto a hill/structure can allow you to find your next chase easier than patrolling.
- If you get an instant queue into a group with fancy skins, dodge.
- Your 'desired' kill rate is two survivors per game. Anything else is gravy. You won't always be able to 4k.
From survivor perspective:
- Don't immediately go for the unhook unless you know where the killer is.
- If someone else is being chased, do gens.
- Flashlights are 4/5 times pretty useless against killers that know how to handle them.
- It's often better to just stay injured and do gens than slowly healing with self-care.
- Don't teabag or flicky flicky unless you want to be camped out.
- Don't abuse pseudo-infinites unless you want the killer to AFK.
- Always have an escape plan from wherever you are.
- Try to guess what perks the killer is running. If there is a 'blank' spot, anticipate NOED. Two blank spots often means NOED+NWO.
- Always pre-drop unsafe pallets.
- Try to game safe pallets to buy time.

Positivity only please. Imo it’s not the best map by far but in 5 hours (or less) it’ll be gone forever. Enjoy it while you can! :) Just want to see what people will miss about the Hawkins map.
It was one of 4 maps that was mostly favorable to killer, compared to perhaps 16 maps that are survivor favored or have 1 very easily exploitable loop.
I'm also going to miss the fun mindgames involving the catwalks and drops, and of course playing a stealth killer.

I'll miss the rat-infested hooks and the screaming rat in the cage in the upper floor, that thing scared me so many times when the map just came out.
It was a very well made map in terms of design, with easter eggs and such, I'm going to miss it.
Nothing will ever jumpscare me quite like that bloody 'horse' on the map with the little carnival in the back. I've had games where someone makes me teleport right in front of it on Pinhead and I have to take a minute to attempt to clean coffee out of my keyboard.

I cant speak for anyone else but when i say I main Killer or when i hear that term in general maining Killer means that if something were on the line albeit a tournament and or $$$ is on the line I would play Killer and not survivor at all.
There is this misconception that "Killer mains" only play Killer and this is false. I play killer 55% of the time and survivor 45% of the time and im strong on both sides ie im strong at the game period!
Does it mean that i can play Killer a little more than survivor? Yes of course especially when i die 4 games in a row at the end game because my team is bad and doesnt even attempt to get me because either they dont know how or are too scared (without NOED btw lol)
Killer mains dont generally complain even when we clearly see that this game is significantly in the survivors favor (maps, boons etc) but survivor mains will complain about NOED which i always found funny.
If you play both and can do well then your just really good at the game. Anyway the survivors that complain about NOED are usually survivor mains who "only" play survivor, and will only look at things from they're own perspective just saying. I main killer because i can get way more enjoyable games despite how hard they may be. Survivor isnt as enjoyable at times again because how bad people are at the game on average, people make horrible descisions most of the time, letting someone getting 2 hooked, 1 hooked etc. Really bad
Eh.
There are some aspects of the game that really grind my grapes as killer. The pseudo-infinite 'House of Pain' on Haddonfield (why is this still a thing?) and Badham, toolboxes and PTS, boon patrols etc.
NOED really isn't that scary unless it's combined with NWO, in which case you just have to sacrifice someone and wait it out.
I play maybe 85% killer and 15% survivor.
The only thing that frustrates me as survivor is not having sufficient tools to communicate with the other survivors.

The problem with that is that it's easily abused - it's incredibly easy to just disconnect your internet in that case.
The DC penalty has to punish all disconnects because of the very fact it's easy to manipulate. This is also the reason that it's kept at such a low amount initially, so if you are thrown out for Steam Maintenance for example, by the time Steam is back up the penalty is already over.
I'm still seeing a lot of DCs. Maybe 1 every 4 or 5 games, sometimes more. Generally when I find and hook someone early or when people are playing in a SWF, one is sitting on the hatch and the other will DC to 'give them' hatch.
@Brightened said:
Don't think it's necessarily fair that we get punished for Steam going down...
If you Google "Steam maintenance Tuesdays," it will give you a response stating that the maintenance will begin at 7P.M. EST, and it's not even consistent with that.
Just interesting to be punished when it's happening to a ton of people, and it's not our fault.
It's unfortunate. But if you don't DC regularly, the penalty will be petty enough that by the time Steam is back online, you'll be able to play again.
When the DC penalty is off, this game becomes almost unplayable at times, with people DCing almost every game, the second they realize I'm playing x killer, x build or even just because I brought a sacrificial ward and their Haddonfield offering got nullified.
-
@Bennett_They1Them said:
'cause a few times, I've had SWF's claim doing so is somehow also tunneling.
I'd say it's fine, since your job is to apply pressure, and why on earth would you leave?
obviously, I want everyone to have fun, but why would I just give them the save?
Ignore them.
The only camping that isn't kosher is facecamping, and even that's forgiveable if the person you are camping BMed you.
If you hook someone and the rest of the team is trying to unhook in your face, bonk 'em. Sometimes they'll do this because if they force you to stick around the hook, they know you'll take a nasty penalty to BP.
Tunneling isn't just an acceptable way to play the game, it's a smart strategy.

How long do I have to keep getting 4ks to get to that point?
I've been consistently getting 3-4ks with Billy for the past 2 weeks, and I get a team that pre drops and holds w, which is probably the strongest thing you can do in this game, but I still manage to kill everyone or almost everyone.
My MMR has to be relatively high at this point, and if it is and I'm getting survivors who only know how to pre drop and not loop efficiently, I think survivors have had an overall decrease in skill.
It depends how good you are.
One quirk of the MMR system is that (afaik) it resets your MMR if you are inactive for 3 weeks on that killer. Then it reassigns an MMR to that killer slightly below your best killer.
This also means, for example, if you didn't play for 3 weeks (or worse, lost a lot on another killer) and then started playing your best killer again, it would take you a good while to get back to strong opponents. Probably a dozen or so games, maybe more if you were a tip top killer.

I've found that now too but I had to eat about 30 back to back losses as killer to get there.
I realise the system had to level itself out but holy crap was it rough to play those first few weeks. I basically just gave up on getting any kills in any match, for many many matches in a row.
Yeah I'm average at this game and I'm fine with that but I was promised games against other average players at it took a long time to deliver. It still isn't great. Have to say when they did the first match making test a year ago I had a better time of it right from the get go.
30 games? Whoa. I wonder if this was during one of the 'matchmaking is on the fritz/disabled' days, because the longest run I had of this nature was maybe 10 games, on a killer I'd never played before.

@my_name_jeff_69 said:
I feel like MMR has drastically lowered the skill level for survivor, I main Billy, a 4k almost every game currently, and that pattern hasn't change whatsoever in the past 2 weeks. Survivors don't seem to be competent in loops anymore, their pathing is off, they make stupid decisions while in chase. It's usually pre drop or pallet camp rather than looping, and shift w.
I feel like survivors have adopted a more comp mindset and it's hindered their ability to actually have chases well.
That's not MMR.
That's your MMR, finally working correctly.
For a long time, during much of the rank days (and for about half of last year) killers had their matchmaking protections completely disabled due to complaints that red-rank survivors were waiting in queues too long.
Keep crushing it and your MMR will steadily reach a point where you start struggling for a 2k.
Every now and then the system seems to crap itself and give you a really bizarro match (I suspect either smurfs or a lobby dodge before I came in) and occasionally seems to be completely offline but for the most part it's sort of decent at getting me where I should be.
If I get several 4ks in a row, I'll generally find myself up against a 6000 hour sweaty SWF boonsquad that flattens me.

I just can't play this anymore. The issues are just too bad. Consistent performance ruining chases and basically every other aspect of a match. Hackers every few games. Hit Validation. Through the pallet vacuums, old ds, the Ochido days I managed to deal with the bullshit and keep playing but it finally broke me. If performance is improved I'll probably play again but until then, enjoy your times in the fog, I know I'll enjoy my time away. And shout out to the legend Pulsar for being a console revolutionist. Take a break, come back when you start feeling pangs or there's a new perk/killer/map you like the look of.

Hag's play style is territorial and proxy camping with traps. And since her speed is 110%, she's not supposed to be a chasing killer, which I love doing as killer, so therefore I find her boring to play.
But I freaking love Plauge because of her potential to snowball. Just having the ability to deny survivors of healing and getting my power if they do cleanse, it's so satisfying.
I chase with Hag a fair bit - if I'm going to get looped I'll quickly set a trap under a vault or a pallet. With Monitor I can usually get close enough to catch them in about the same time I would on other killers. I almost never camp.
The only games I really struggle with are giganto maps like Ormond where you can't really create a solid minefield or games where the survivors set up a CoH just outside of my 'zone' and just out-heal me.

Once I got done draining the 'soon to be nerfed' Cenobite addons, I went back to Plague and yeah. Wow. She's really really strong. Creeping up on 'S' tier probably, at least a solid 'A'.
Despite her being strong, there is still tons of room for survivors to outplay me.
Her addons are brilliant, nearly all are worth using and a few create entirely new gameplay styles.
I hope that, moving forward, BHVR take Plague as the template for how killers and addons should feel. Imagine if Pig, Legion, Ghostface, PH or Slinger got a Plague level rework. I'd be so damn happy.

Seriously, do they do anything except tell one side "you're going to have a bad time"? Being able to weight the game in favour of your planned strategy before the game even starts is just imbalanced.
And it's even more Bloodweb junk for all the other maps you don't want.
I'm fine with them...mostly.
There are certain maps I just love to play on (Yamaoka is the biggie) that don't really have much to do with power.
But as Blueberry puts it:
@Blueberry said:
I don't think map offerings themselves are an issue. They are more a representation of how unbalanced many maps are. If the maps were better balanced the offerings wouldn't matter as much.
Also, seeing as it's a 4:1 ratio the killer map offering should carry much more weight than a survivors map offering since they're able to throw more. IE if one survivor throws an Ormond offering and the killer throws an Autohaven offering, the Autohaven offering should win every time.
This is the key problem.
There are maybe 3 maps in the game (after Hawkins goes) that are considered 'killer favored'. There are maybe 6 more that are somewhat neutral.
The rest go from moderately survivor favored to very survivor favored, to 'if they all know to run to that one loop and I'm not playing PH or Nurse or something, I may as well just AFK'.
A huge part of what makes playing killer frustrating is having an entire evening of multiple Haddonfield, Badham or RPD offerings.

Plague is just really slow to play. Like everything about her feels slow. Its just my issue with her but there is so many waiting for things to happen, or animations or her projectiles moving about as fast as a turtle with 3 broken legs.
Try her again.
You can go 'punish Plague' with the addon that only allows you to infect objects, but makes it last ages.
You can go 'maphacks' Plague with the addon that shows you the aura of puking people.
You can go 'machinegun' Plague with addons for faster projectiles.
Honestly, she doesn't get punished for misses that much. Close the distance, try again when you have a chance. She can also arc puke over stuff and through tiny gaps in walls. Very satisfying to play and probably a nightmare to go against.

For hag you said it CoH hurt her hard
For plague its because of the fountain sometime you get a good one but moat of the time the fountain is always on the other side of the map and you lose a huge amount of time before you can use it if you go out of your way. Having the survivor conteol how many time you can use your power is kinda a downer too
There are a few maps (RPD...ugh) where fountains can be hard to come across, but there's usually one or two in the center. Just keep infecting.
Teams that don't cleanse, I've only had it once or twice and it always works in my favor. She turns into basically a full speed M1 killer with instadowns.

I mean we both in the end dont know how the MMR exactly works, but I do think that this is absolutely stupid that he gets ppl with a way higher difference on streangth than him, this is not what I call skill based matchmaking. Also he gets alot of dcs, atleast every 2 games 1-2 and this leads then to a 4k since there are no 4 survivors anymore left in the game which doesnt make him "kill" the survivors, I do think that this is a very dumb way of "rewarding" someones mmr.
Yeah I have the same experience with DCs. It's really frustrating.

I've been running into a lot of Plagues lately thanks to CoH, but Hag is as rare as ever. It's probably because her playstyle is very unique, and it's not a kind of unique where pouring tons of time into her will always net amazing results. Big outdoor maps can really wreck her and her main weakness is comms. Though one guy with a kitted out flashlight can screw her over even in solo queue. But she is very strong, especially once some of her addons come into play. I think she's one of the few killers that actually has a chance to work Pentimento.
Penti feels like it's going to have to be combo'd at least with Plaything to work well, probably also Retribution.
I'm not sure if I'd want to do it on Hag unless I'm running Mint Rag or something and can warp around the map.
I'm definitely going to try to make it work on Demo though.

I mean actual camping, like putting someone in the basement and staying upstairs on the first hook of the game.
Yeah I see that sometimes. That's sort of what basement is for, and on some maps it's a desperate strategy (Haddonfield, Badham, Swamp sometimes) because you know that if you're up against a good team on the wrong killer, you are going to get stomped.
Getting someone into the basement and then trapping/patrolling the approaches is something a lot of high level players do whenever possible. It's also why high level survivors will always lead the killer away from basement whenever possible.

Sometimes I love chases as survivor if the killer is threatening and I am not at the safe tile. Otherwise it is braindead and some killers can't do anything but to drop chase.
As m1 killer it just forces you to break pallets if mindgame is not possible. Also boring.
I think if game was more fair to killers it would be more interesting. Otherwise some killers really can't do much in chases. I see everyone getting destroyed unless they play more viable and anti loop ones.
Safe pallets...yeah. I generally just get them out of the way and break it. I've gotten fairly good at baiting drops too.
My main fear though isn't pallets, it's vault loops. There are still some defacto infinites in the game - I encountered a team that knew how to abuse the Haddonfield 'House of Pain' last night for the first time and it was literally unwinnable. They'd just book it to the house and could then easily loop me even at BL3.

Also since he is climbing up the mmr, or atleast should do that. There should be maybe atleast as his literally first games ever some inconsistency happening like that he would maybe... you know get ppl that have also less them 10 hours in the game? His second match on this account was already filled with ppl full lvl 3 perks, iri addons and purple items and ppl that had around 400 and 300 hours, there was 1 guy at his 3th game with 1,4k hours.
Yep.
He started at mid-MMR, and with your coaching is doing well.
Without it, unless he was some sort of DbD prodigy, he'd have lost a few games and be facing newer players.
Instead, he's creeping up on high-intermediate MMR now probably (I think that's about where I am too) - so you'll start to see a lot of meta perks and PC SWFs.

Its about the loadout and items, he only wins because these survivors keep ######### up and killing themselves basicly, its not because hes the god of dbd and outplaying them hard. Its not him beeing good at this game, but if the survivors would FINALLY start using their 3 left braincells then they would bully the hell out of him with these insanely strong items and addons, thats my point.
To be fair, this is how I win most of my games too.
It starts well, they get 3 gens done and I only get a few hooks. Then I hook someone in the midgame. I patrol away and then someone runs directly past me to unhook. I down them and hook them. Then I try to give them a break and give them a second to unhook, but the first survivor dies on hook. Then I realize that a Jeff has decided that it's imperative that he does chests now and there's a Nea still trying to find her Plaything totem.
Another thing that'll happen is that survivors will all sit on the same gen together, I'll get a Discordance pop (or someone fails a skill check), they'll panic and regress the gen more when I see them and I'll end up getting 2 downs, which snowballs into a 4k.

Are they?
*Shrug*
This game is build around chases from both the killer's and the survivor's end.
If you aren't chasing, you are just holding M1 or W.
If you don't enjoy chases, this probably isn't the game for you.

@KIILL_JOY said:
Is this because of the comp scene? Why do I encounter so many killers who hard camp at 4-5 gens and SWFs who pre-drop every pallet? Doesn't anyone want fun chases / mind games anymore?
I don't care which role I'm playing I want chases again.
Pre-drop has become something of a meta due to the persistent arms-race between new killers (who almost always have anti-loop tools) and an increasingly savvy survivor base that knows how to abuse really strong loops, in particular the still unfixed 'House of Pain' pseudo-infinites on Haddonfield and Badham.
Camping...it depends what you mean. Facecamping I barely see unless someone BMs the killer or they are evidently newer/playing Bubba (two things that go together oddly often :) ). The BP penalty is pretty huge.
Proxy camping (patrolling a wider area around the hook to try and spot rescuers on the way while also checking gens) is just smart tactical play.

If you remember I am coaching my friend that just bought dbd, watching through discord screen share. He is doing great but in the other hand, he got every single game, literally.. survivors that have full lvl 3 perks, not all of them meta but the majority and also atleast 2 survivors in every game that use a purple item with some busted addon like purple med kits with styptics or toolboxes with brand new parts.
Every... game...
He still wins the most of these games with 3-4ks which is nice but not the problem here. What I want to point out is that he gets ppl that have clearly way much more hours into the game and WAY much better loadouts than him, I mean... my boy is using lvl 2 perks like whispers and deerstalker and yellow addons... xD
I do believe that BHVR should adjust the MMR for the loadout you use, imagine if you use iri addons on items that you should get automaticly matched with Killers that use also very strong addons that match their rarities atleast.
It's a tricky one.
I'm a killer that loves running off-meta perks and the like, and wouldn't automatically like to face easier survivors.
MMR is definitely hinky, especially for new players (they start at an 'average' MMR, and it'll take a dozen or so games to find a stable spot - I get them in my games sometimes and try to give them a break). It was also on-and-off last week, but seems to be totally fine this week.

I actually dig her aesthetic. Very 'Blair Witch'. She is decently camouflaged, small, has fun skins and my favorite 'blighted' skin of any killer (Ghostface and Wraith are close seconds).
I like my killers to look frightening.

all perks are meta on the ptb until survivors realize they are strong and cry to the devs to nerf it
then killers cry about survivor perks and they also get nerfed
in the end everyone gets s### because nerfs for everyone
honestly tho i thought counterforce would be meta but now boons exist so destroying totems is looked down upon
for killer i thought lethal persuer would be a meta which it kinda is but then everyone realized it's only god on cirtain killers and some dodn't even need it im a doctor main and i already find everyone at the start so what's the point :/
The last survivor perk that got a real nerf was Object. That took years and was basically maphacks for SWF groups.

(PC) Honestly I've been going in between having it on and off depending on queue times. For the most part games feel about the same leaning more towards crossplay off (possibly do to bias idk). I do feel like I find more chill gameplay with it off as well. Is this what some of you see as well or am I just getting lucky with lobbies.
Note: one thing I do find frustrating is the number of killer dodges. Maybe they see our hours or that some people are grouped up, but there have been times at night where the lobby time is longer then the queue time.
On. I just like the variety of opponents.

To be fair, Prove Thyself is like... a barely not meta perk. It's very good... just anti tunnel, anti slug, and anti camp perks are a bit better.
PTS and Spinechill scare me more than exhaustion perks in a lot of games.
There's nothing quite like a group of seemingly invisible survivors that pop 5 gens in less than 4 minutes through Ruin.

I have 2 actually. Second Wind is the first. For some odd reason I thought this perk was going to be meta, boy was I wrong. It has received a smaller timer (I think it was 32 before) to what it is now. I always saw it as a insta heal sort off perk but it needs you to heal another survivor a full health state in order to activate. This is really difficult to achieve when playing solo.
I personally believe it won’t ever be meta, as there are better options for healing perks. Maybe if it activates when healing yourself?
Opression is the second one. The 80 second cooldown hurts this perk a lot. It has potential to be strong but it’s isn’t there yet. Start off by lowering the timer to 60 seconds (if generous enough, 40 seconds) or leave at 60 seconds + incapacitated status if missing the skill check. This can also apply to overcharge.
Now I ask you guys, what perk did you think was going to be meta?
A few.
Starstruck+Agitation is crazy strong on some killers, but after a brief phase of frequent use it became a seldom seen gimmick build.
Pop+Oppression is amazing and I'm surprised not to see it more. The only person I really see running it is Tofu.
My own personal 'meta' build - Plaything+Retribution is exceptionally good on a lot of killers and works well to counter boons. It's only issue is that it's a lot weaker against SWFs (but that's nearly every stealth option in the game, sadly).
@Altarf said:
Maybe not "meta", but the following are semi-recent perks I thought would be used a lot.
Survivor: Any Means Necessary, Inner Strength, Soul Guard, Power Struggle, Blast Mine
Killer: Thrilling Tremors, Deathbound, Crowd Control, Plaything.
I would say Pentimento but that perk is not very good, especially not with gen slowdown for 2 totems. Nobody cleanses totems anymore. Honestly, with the advent of Boons and loads of perks to deincentivise cleansing, I'm starting to think the devs actually like NOED and want it to be used more.
I see a fair amount of Soul Guard actually. It's a really strong perk and a lot of survivors are warming up to it. The big problem is that there are maybe 8 survivor perks that are simply too good *not* to use - DH, Spinechill, Unbreakable, CoH etc. This restricts survivor builds somewhat. Unfortunately, these perks are going to have to be adjusted if the stale survivor meta is ever going to change.
Thrilling Tremors is...mediocre. It often backfires and results in a snowball situation of several gens popping together later in the game. I'm starting to find that Deadlock has the same issue. It sometimes has an anti-synergy with other regression perks. If these gens regressed during the lock, it would be a different story.
Crowd Control is a hex, which means that it's very unreliable. The only hexes I get much reliable value out of are Devour Hope (because it only activates later on), NOED (same reason) and Plaything (due to it's cyclical nature). Otherwise you have to commit heavily to a hex build with Undying.
Deathbound has too many restrictions. If it worked on all forms of healing, it would be a lot better.

Like I'm not one to play devil's advocate or fence sit when it comes to discussions between two parties especially with survivor and killer side of the community however as much as i agree mostly with killer's frustrations with dealing with perks that are too forgiving to the survivor I really have to ask ... Can you really blame them?
Like I seriously think that a good amount of killer mains see other killer mains with actual good points for the games balance and go into their games with the mentality that all survivors are out to get them or are toxic just because they got stunned with a pallet once or something. God the amount of times I've been camped on hook, like not as a last resort or because the killer saw all of us no... CAMPED from the start of the game, killer gets no bites so they go on a chase, then I get unhooked finally and they abandon chase to go back for me. Even with SWF there's not much you can do to avoid a deathhook, just struggle for as long as you can and hope the gens get done.
I'm not against killers using the strongest add ons, perks, hell take NOED at least it'll get me to search the map and play the game. But being tunelled out of the match at the start, no items in hand no teabagging etc really blows. And 9/10 times those killers are super toxic about doing it too. One example is a killer tunnelling the whole game and only getting one kill and accusing players of gen rushing when the case was just a teammate being good and mind gaming them and them not knowing when to abandon a chase.
Like I seriously try to advocate for killer mains I really do, playing killer is so stressful against a good team of survivors with meta perks, but with tunneling and camping still being as strong of a strat to get an early kill I can see why so many survivors run the same few perks over and over, especially in solo queue where it seems like a hard requirement to run kindred or borrowed time or DS etc etc. (Personally I have nothing against slugging)
A few thoughts:
- There is indeed a nasty little feedback loop here. When you first start the game as a killer, camping is quite intuitively the best way to secure kills because otherwise it's very easy to just get 4-outed game after game.
- This is a fallacy known as 'false equivalency'. There is a difference between a killer using a cheesy but legitimate playstyle (proxy camping) and a survivor being BM.
- There is a world of difference between 'tunneling' and 'facecamping'. Tunneling is simply removing a survivor from the game ASAP to slow things down to a more manageable level. Facecamping is something the game actively disincentivizes with a hefty BP penalty for doing it. The only time I'll facecamp is when I'm BMed.
- Similarly, 'genrushing' is a perfectly legitimate playstyle. The issue comes with tuning - it should not be possible for a group of survivors to abuse BNP and PTS to pop multiple generators less than a minute into the game. That's ridiculous.
- A lot of what gives killers a hard time is less perks and styles and more the maps themselves. More than half the maps are strongly 'survivor favored', and many contain pseudo-infinites that have not and likely will never be changed. In these situations, particularly where every survivor in the game heads to one of these immediately, there isn't much choice but to camp survivors out.
- It's easy to say 'just abandon chase' - but often that's not feasible when every chase becomes non-viable due to these loops. You are basically saying 'just AFK'.
- Solo survivors need better tools to communicate, either a robust set of gestures (as suggested by others) or native opt-out voicechat.

Here's a couple i'd like to see be changed or improved.
Coupe De Grace - I would perhaps make it into a scourge hook perk, upon hooking someone on a scourge hook, Gain a token from that survivor (can only get the scourge hook effect on them once), whenever that survivor is unhooked gain 2 stacks of Coupe De Grace, Your Coupe De Grace hits apply a Deep Wound that when mended, leaves that survivor broken for 30 seconds. When you have 4 different survivor tokens, Broken is a permanent effect.
Dying Light - No longer an obsession based perk, increase the percentages from 3/6/9/12/15/20 ect to 6/12/18/24/30%, now 5 tokens, must be a new survivor hooked each time instead of the previous survivor.
Hangman's Trick - A survivor that sabotages a hook in your Terror Radius while carrying a survivor has a 50% chance of being dealt a health state, anyone else in the sabotaged hook's vicinity of 12/14/16m receives the exposed effect for 30 seconds.
Dark Devotion - Hitting the Obsession with any for of attack now causes them to emit your terror radius for 60 seconds while within the vicinity of others, the timer pauses when not within 20m of others. You gain Undetectable for 60 seconds.
Furtive chase - Hooking a survivor now masks your red stain and suppresses your terror radius in a chase for 60 seconds, Your footsteps and vocal audio are muffled increasingly per token until completely silent at 4 tokens.
Let's hear some of yours.
Distressing: In addition to existing effects, while a survivor remains in your terror radius for 25/20/15 seconds and is in an active chase with you, 3 seconds after the chase ends the survivor will scream and their aura will become visible to you for 3 seconds.
Monstrous Shrine: Survivors performing the Rescue or Heal actions while in the basement have their auras revealed to you so long as you are more than 30/25/20m away from the basement. Additionally, while in the basement, survivors suffer from the Oblivious status effect.
Coulrophobia: Survivors within your terror radius that interact with a pallet or vault a window will be unable to interact with pallets or perform the vault action for 5/8/10 seconds. Attempting to do this will cause a loud noise notification.
Overcharge: If the survivor succeeds in the initial skill check, no additional progress is granted. Additionally, the loud noise notification is caused regardless of success.
(Right now, this perk is more often than not a buff to survivors as it allows them a free skill check).

I always see the same killers each game, Huntress (85% of the time), wraith, trapper, hillbilly ect....I never see any of the "fun" killers i would say (45-50% hit or miss) like Trickster, Nemesis, Pyramid Head, Blight, Twins, Spirit, Oni, Demo, Nurse, Pin Head (hes okay but not that interesting) It just seems like i see more of the free killers then anything else. I know more new killers are playing the game lately but its so boring going against the same killers everytime.
A few thoughts:
- Certain killers are going to be more common by dint of them being free. New killers aren't going to have the iri shards to buy other killers, and may be reluctant to shell out for licensed killers.
- A lot of killers prefer a more unga-bunga chase and down style than a more nuanced, tactical killer like Hag, Doctor and Cenobite
- Some killers like Hag and Plague just don't appeal to people regardless of power. Others, such as Pig, Legion, Ghostface and Clown are considered weaker and quite difficult to succeed with. Others yet, such as Pyramid Head have very unappealing, boring addons that make them tedious to play. Finally, boons have been a defacto huge nerf to any killer with an attrition based style, such as Hag and Wraith, leading these players to switch to a killer with more immediate lethality.
- As you reach low-intermediate MMRs, you'll probably see the greatest variety of killers.
- As you reach intermediate-high MMRs, you'll see a lot more 'meta' killers - Huntress, Blight and to some extent Nurse and Spirit.
TL:DR - it's going to depend on the level you play the game at. At both extreme ends of the MMR spectrum, killer variety is going to be smaller due to free killers, meta killers and about half the killer roster being in need of some love from the developers, particularly in terms of addons.

So I just had a killer that DC after 2 mins of looping them when the game started I think you should keep your Offerings and Items if the Killer DCs 2 mins into the game.
I could understand if the game was being played normally and the Killer DCed either towards the end of the match or a duration of time longer than 2 min.
It is just a bit annoying when a Killer DCs the Survivor gets punished by losing their Offerings and Items because they just can't handle being looped, outplayed, or even just because of a Charatar someone is playing.
This should be the case for both sides. It's frustrating to bring something fancy, only to have 3 people chain-DC because I managed to get an early down and they were in an SWF together, or just didn't feel like playing against Pinhead/Plague/Doctor/Hag/Ghostface/what have you.
What also grinds my grapes is losing pips because a survivor DCed at the loading screen.

I do understand that it could cause problems, but maybe it could be limited. You can block 10 players, or something. But really if they would just show the killer names in the lobby just like the killer gets to see survivor names, that would be enough. I could avoid the really egregious folks and get on with less toxic matches.
Any number that would be high enough for you to block the people you want to block (the BMers, smurfs, cheaters and such) would be high enough to be massively abused at higher MMRs.

Mm. I've been led down there a few times and generally just try to avoid it in future, but I assumed it just wasn't a tile I understood.
It was only tonight (I've been playing a lot recently and I'm guessing my MMR is getting better) where a team would immediately run there that I discovered that it was a pseudo-infinite.
It...boggles my mind that this hasn't been fixed or at least a breakable wall added.

For a game that boasts 50k players I have seen the same 3 toxic killers more than a dozen times in the last week. I am repeatedly getting the same people over and over. One of which is hacking and griefing so much I have not only filed a long form report, I have been able to go back and add 2 additional videos to my complaint. I want a system to be put in place where I can either block these people in game, or show me the killer players name so I can avoid these people. I definitely remember their names.
Every time this has been tried in PvP games it's ended up backfiring.
People at a lot of levels block anyone who beats them.
People very high up just block the rest of the really good players and coast to absurd ranks.
I understand your pain (I wish I could block certain SWFs that seem to love playing at the same hours I do) but it's just not a good idea.

Spirit is...fine. Her nerfs (aside from the addon stuff, which was a bit harsh - but not like that's anything new *cries in Cenobite) only really hurt her mindgame potential at very high level MMR.

Hag? Yeah, boons can be rough on her and people have learned how to play around her now. I still do pretty well on her, just need to incorporate some ability to instadown (DH) or futz with booners (Plaything).
CoH will eventually have to get a nerf, that perk is just too strong against any sort of attrition based killer.

On some games, yes.
On other games, p2p would have people seemingly teleporting around the map.
The main things that need to happen is the 'fake hit' bugs to be fixed and probably some sort of adjustment on Dead Hard, it was meta before the fix, and the fix amounted to quite a significant buff. It's just too safe and powerful for something with such a titchy exhaustion cooldown.

It's the fence in the main building. You just loop around the main building every time if the breakable door is broken. There is a two breakable doors then the left one just extend the loop while the right one gives the survivor three window vaults if they run it properly.
Mm. I'm struggling to imagine it. Will keep an eye out next time I get Badham.

And RPD could be the best Survivor map if it wasn't completely infuriating to navigate for both sides.
Also I play both sides, When I first started DBD I was a Killer main and slowly shifted to playing primarily both but after 3.5K hours and countless humiliating defeats I play Survivor more than Killer. But I can safely say a lot of maps can (not always are) Survivor sided excluding Badham and maybe Gideon.
I...don't mind Gideon. The only thing I hate about it are how boons on that map can be an 'I-Win' button, as they can project their effects through floors and you'll never find them.

The "House of Pain" is one of the few true infinite loops that remains in the game.
If your Huntress or Deathslinger there is literally nothing you can do if the survivors aren't dumb so don't bother chasing there.
For 115% killers its literally a forced blood-lust loop so don't even bother with a power unless its can outright prevent a vault outside of LoS like Trapper's bear traps or Doctor's shock(Even then you'd need good timing for the shock).
Ps. That loop is literally one of the reasons why blood-lust exists in DbD...
Even at BL3, I wasn't able to catch them until eventually they got a window blocked, by which time almost a minute had elapsed.

A bit. Not because of anything the survivors are doing or the actions themselves, but the mentality behind it. I know I'm losing, and that's fine; it's miserable if it's a game where I'm matched up against people way outside of my skill bracket (I haven't even gotten halfway through getting meta teachables, let alone unlocking them on who I want to play) but at least that's over quickly.
It's the people who can't just take their win and leave, they have to rub it in and drag it out as long as possible. Who aren't just satisfied that I get a short, dull match; they have to make sure that I actively don't have fun or get to move onto the next round.
Clicky-clicky and teabagging and waiting at the exit gates aren't just bad manners, they're people actively out to stop the other side from possibly enjoying it. And that turns something that would be dull but quick into frustrating.
Yeah, these are the worst. What I'll do is go stand right by the gates, off to one side and...wait. Eventually they'll realize that I'm not futilely running in after them to get teabagged and will leave - upon which I'll sometimes manage to down one and then it's fun times at shenanigans.
At least we have AFK crows now.
The game that actually made me quit DbD for several months was a SWF consisting of 4 Blendettes on...it was either a Swamp map or Haddonfield.
After I killed one early they got to 1 gen left and then decided to play hide and seek. I literally couldn't find them. It took me over an hour to get bored and DC.
