  • It’s only 3 hatchets, I wouldn’t even consider that a challenge. You can probably get that easier than you think you can.

  • I have 4K’d with Deathslinger every game since the new patch with my sensitivity set to 100%, or the newest max.

The problem doesn’t really lie with the sensitivity, something about the movement of Killer feels very strange, idk if it’s the frames or overall control you have with killer now, but it was enough for me to put the controller down until it gets fixed.

That's not me. I'm the killer.

The fact that people need toolboxes to win the match still baffles me, not to mention Brand New Parts. Toolboxes are not even skill, they just reduce gen times... just because they do. High reward, no risk.

This goes back to the killer being able to see the items in the lobby. If you knew 2+ toolboxes were coming in you could’ve prepped with Corrupt Intervention, Franklin’s, Discordance, even a Mori, etc. or even decided to not play the group of survivors since Killer queue times are so fast anyway.

*Note: I am in no way saying toolboxes are fair, only pointing out possible counter measures.

Are we talking about on any specific maps that this is happening? And can you grab me some video/screenshots if possible.

It's not something I've noticed particularly myself which is why I asked.

Seems to happen on maps like Autohaven so far for sure.

  • I’m not sure what your video is trying to prove. Yes you and someone knocked out a gen in ~35 seconds with a Commodious + BNP + Socket Swivels, and it looks like the other player had a toolbox as well, possibly the same build.

But the thing is why should i have to sacrifice my fun unique build for a basic "everyone uses this build" build

And with the gens yes they were nerfed quite alot i havent gone a single game where the killer hasnt made it to the 1st gen before it even reaches the halfway mark because seconds in this game mean everything and with the map decrease it means killers can get to gens faster with less progress done to them

You must be having a bad day then. My friends and I knocked out 3 gens before the killer can even get a down and we constantly mocked the devs “slowing down the game” and “nerfing gen speeds btw” every game cause it seems unchanged.

It sounds like you’re playing a lot of solo survivor, try to play with friends who will actually do the objective/take protection hits for you. You won’t be able to run “fun” builds as much in solo if you don’t have the experience to loop a killer for long.

  • Gens with 2 people on them are 3 seconds slower... not really a nerf.

Insta heals were probably the most broken add-ons in the game right next to BNP.

Toolboxes weren’t really nerfed IMO, just changed to be mini-BNP’s. Some would argue it’s actually a buff.

If you keep getting tunneled just use an anti-tunnel build: Iron Will, Decisive Strike, Inner Strength, and Unbreakable.

  • Yes another bug that’s part of this patch. Play enough killer and you will notice the scratch marks seem to appear then disappear in patches.

  • @coppersly said:

If he's gonna get treated like Nurse prepare to keep those bugs for years to come.

Yeah I hope not, iI actually stopped playing Killer after just a few games just because of how awkward it was playing with the new patch.

  • This has been an issue for MONTHS. I will down someone and then chase someone getting the flashlight save, only to come back to the down person and not be able to hear where they are.

It took the “inactive player” crows to finally be able to find them. Most people bleed out or get picked up because of this bug. VERY game changing if you ask me.

  • They’re gonna fix it with MMR. And by fix it I mean hide the ranks so you can’t post/complain about this anymore.

  • I’m assuming you’re in high ranks, as the same thing is happening to me.

I know this patch was supposed be to be balancing out loops, but for some reason playing Killer feels worse now. I can’t quite put my finger on it but it feels very different, the movement, the hitboxes, almost like a new game.

Also, many killers are suffering from bugs in this patch, such as; Hillbilly, Huntress, Oni, etc. that’s just my point experience so far on Xbox.

I agree with this but I'm hoping they revisit a few maps they touched up. Honestly though I feel like some of these small tweaks aren't enough and some maps could use the Lery's treatment.

Also yes I know they said in the Q&A nothing they did is now set in stone. I'm just expressing that I agree that some of the maps in this update could use another pass.

The Lery’s treatment? You understand that Lery’s is more survivor sided now right? There are up to 3 pallets that MUST be broken in order to reach/catch the survivor (unless you play Spirit or Nurse).

The only reason Lery’s gives killer as many kills as it does now is because it’s an indoor map, making harder for survivors to find and complete generators so you don’t get “gen rushed” as quickly.

  • Everyone already knows this

P2P was a direct connection the the host ie killer. The game just had to try and calculate latency between you both as it was a direct connection.

Dedicated servers well your ping may be 60 but the killer could be 80. The servers then add an extra step so while you press the button the server has two sides to look at and tries to calculate if the killers hit was done before you pressed DH making it worse.

The servers need a lot more work as right now they are not giving a better experience.

Thank you, this answers my concerns.

It looks like your intent was to force the killer to swing and then make it to the vault/pallet, because in both screenshots if you deadharded from where you are on the floor, you'd move to a bad position and still get hit.

You definitely weren't getting the cow pallet - at the cow tree DH would have pushed you past the pallet which is then already blocked by the killer after they lunged, so you wouldn't have been able to drop it; your only choice would have been to go for the vault or another loop around the short side. Either way you should get hit, unless the legion cuts corners too wide.

With the fence it's hard to measure the distance to the fence, especially since your character spun around after getting downed, but from memory if DH worked it would have pushed you right where you need to take 2-3 steps to take the vault. Depending on the killer's ping it would have been a 50/50 whether you get hit through the vault or not, because they would definitely have enough time to recover and swing again.

The point is in both of these scenarios even if DH worked the way it did before it still wouldn't have guaranteed your safety. Im not trying to be mean - with dedi servers you need to anticipate in advance where exactly you're going to need to use DH and choose your pathing accordingly 5-10 seconds before you actually have to use the perk.

I was using DH just fine before the switch to dedicated servers, in fact I probably have mor experience using DH than most of you replying on this forum. My point is it now acts differently than in P2P and wanted to know why.

  • @Deadeye said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1228788#Comment_1228788

From the screenshots it doesn't even look like you were close enough to reach that with Deadhard, regarding the position where you were downed.

Yeah it’s kinda funky on the picture with Pig cause as soon as I hit DH I seizured on the floor and spun around for some reason.

  • @MadLordJack said:

First, you are using DH wrong. Dodging a killers attack was risky even before dedicated servers. Just because it's what the Devs had in mind when they designed it doesn't mean it's the best use, simply.because latency exists.

Second, P2P had lower effective latency because it was a direct connection. Dedicated servers have higher effective latency because, while you may have 60 ping, the killer also has 60 ping. This means that it is effectively 120 pings worth of difference between all 5 people in the game (yes, even survivor to survivor). The Devs have said they are working to fix this, but in the meantime.maybe don't try to misuse DH and just stick to DH for distance. As someone that deals with meta builds all the time (like almost everyone that played killer) I can tell you that DH for distance is a far more reliable and annoying strat. Survivors try to bait an attack and get m1'd, even back in P2P. This isn't a latency issue, it's just how the game is played.

Third, melee hits (but not hatchets, redeemer or purge hits, for some insane reason) are resolved entirely on the killers machine so they do not have to constantly guess where the survivor ACTUALLY is while colliding with a hitbox that will not register a hit. This has always been the case, even back in P2P days, because the game would be genuinely unplayable otherwise. In fact, if hits were server sided, killers would literally be unable to down survivors that simply ran in a straight line, because they would be colliding with the survivors 'fake' hitbox on their screen and thus being forced to move at 4m/s to try and catch up with something else moving at 4m/s.

You missed the reply where I said I was using dead hard to get to the vault.

  • @Accullla said:

Don't be one of those people using dead hard to dodge a hit. It's so silly. It does so much more if people just put some thought into how to use it.

The only time I used DH to dodge a bit was in the last picture where I save the guy off the hook being camped.

If you look at the first two pics, first one I tried to make the white fence-vault. The second one I tried to make the cow-ring pallet.

  • What I hate the most about Nurse besides dead zones is the Pallet stun then the fatigue, and recharge still isn’t full on her two base kit blinks.

So are you saying that the perk description doesn't say that the perk has a 60 second timer and the circumstances don't change that?

Learn from this horrible thing that happened to you because you didn't consider that maybe this person had a DS or whatever and next time don't make the same mistake. You are literally complaining about a perk working the way it is supposed to.

I'm saying that the perk was reworked to be designed as an anti-tunnel perk, that's part of the reason the stun time was increased from 3 seconds to 5 seconds and part of the reason Enduring was changed as well. The way the perk was used in this clip was more of a "immunity for 60 seconds." In no way is it being used as the developers had intended.

Yes. Picking up the only survivor who could DS you is very much a bot move. You didn't even hesitate, you did it immediately which suggests that you didn't even put any thought into it. That is what a bot does, sorry if that hurts to hear but it's the truth.

You asked "What did I do wrong here?", then I and several others tell you EXACTLY what you did wrong (pick up the Jane instead of one of the other two survivors) yet you can't sit here and acknowledge your mistake? C'mon dude, like really? REALLY?!?

Doing your job would have been making the smart move to avoid DS. Doing your job does not mean assuming you won when you have every survivor slugged.

Unbreakable isn't even a factor here because you picked up the ONLY survivor who could DS you. Literally the only player who could DEFINITELY take away your win.

You messed up. Admit it. Stop trying to explain it away as "the game is broken and unfair" because it's not. YOU MESSED UP. Period.

We can sit here and argue all day but the fact of the matter is DS was used in a way that is way outside it's original boundary. The player did not outplay me with any amount of skill so they do NOT deserve the merit of the perk as it was intended to be used.

  • @thesuicidefox said:

Why would you pick up the Jane first??? Go hook the other two and then wait over Jane for a minute. You woulda won if you did that.

STOP PLAYING LIKE A BOT! STOP COMPLAINING ABOUT A PERK WHEN YOU GOT PUNISHED FOR YOUR OWN MISTAKES!!

Did you really accuse me of playing like a bot for outplaying all 4 survivors? Talk about “killer biased” it’s hard to say the survivor biased is strong with your opinion.

Im sorry I didn’t wait to hear Hillbilly’s stopwatch go off to make sure it’s safe to pick up the survivor with everything else I have to be aware of at the moment.

Unbreakable on the other survivors? Yeah that’s what the perk is designed for. Had one of the other survivors gotten up due to Unbreakable then YES I would accept I got outplayed. However, what you’re suggesting is that I was outplayed by the survivor using DS as intended, when it was clearly a flaw in design of the perk itself.

Oh, that was feedback, whether you took it as such or not. You are clearly going to win this match and depip every one of those people...yet you are still here complaining about perks. It's a terrible example of this issue...and it's hard to find sympathy about having to hit a survivor 1 extra time when you have every other survivor down.

But, since you want legitimate feedback - the person on the hook when the video starts is clearly the obsession. That person gets off hooked as you're walking to the hook with another downed survivor. Everyone is injured. Due to your aura/audible perk, you find and down the next two survivors within 16 seconds of hooking the Nancy, giving you the location of the last survivor, who was actually not "around the hook", but on the complete other side of the building trying to decide how an injured survivor is going to get up 2 slugs or off-hook the Nancy. Although you already have two on the ground with 5 gens up, you decide to go for a 4k and down the Jane. And even though she was just off-hooked less than 40 seconds from the time you down her, as the obsession (I'm not terribly atuned to all killer perks, but you don't appear to be running an obsession perk), you CHOSE to pick her up instead of go for one of the latter downed survivor, knowing the DS mechanic. You got DS'd on. Probably chased her down in no time and still won this match as a 4k with 5 gens up. Yes, DS is primarily an anti-tunnel perk. Yes, it has additional benefits. It's not the only perk that has more than one purpose or function. This situation was avoidable. You were punished because of your haste and choices.

Saying Jane was not around the hook even though she clearly was in proximity for BT to go off is blatantly biased.

"She was on the complete other side of the building,": This is still within 32 meters range. That's the logic you and some other forum users keep using here. You're describing the building as if it's some massive infinite that I so greedily decided to go far out of my way to find the Jane who is still within my terror radius.

"You decide to go for the 4K": God forbid I do my job and make sure I'm able to kill as many survivors as I can, which I completely outplayed by the way.

"Although you already have two on the ground with 5 gens up": Two on the ground that I outplayed which was possible due to Infectious Fright being used as intended. Again with the number of gens, 0 gens or 5 gens makes no difference in the way DS was used.

"You CHOSE to pick her up knowing the DS mechanic": I'm sorry that through all that was going on with adrenaline gameplay and awareness of the situation regarding 4 survivors, that I didn't realize Hillbilly's stopwatch didn't go off yet telling me to wait for DS to not punish me.

"You were punished because of your haste and choices:" Meanwhile, while I capitalize almost perfectly on all the survivors mistakes, the Jane, who I clearly tunneled and deserve that DS, saves the Nancy with BT, allows her to take a hit to then pick up the Zarina and find the David. But yeah, clearly I was in the wrong here.

"If DS is supposed to be an anti-tunnel perk, then where does the ridiculous complaint you state come into play here?"

You want to prove something with a game which was won for you with 5 Gens left. This IS ridiculous.

Never said the game was won with 5 gens, by saying that you actually are assuming the survivors were terrible enough to not be able to learn from my gameplay.

1 gen or 5 gens left you have not made a logical point on why DS is punishable outside of the original idea it was designed for. You continue to point out X amount of gens as if that has anything to do with the topic.

  • @Steel_Eyed said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1204529#Comment_1204529

I do not recognize there was an issue in your clip. What power was there to be extended? There are five gens left. You weren’t wronged and my opinion is clear in the last post: the game should have continued.

The problem seems to be the way you’re viewing the game. A killer is not rewarded for quickly ending a match. Killers are actually rewarded LESS for doing so. Fewer blood points and fewer marks for pipping.

If I was that Billy, I would have hooked another survivor and turned a blind eye to let them reset because I actually enjoy playing the game out. I do recommend going this hard after a few generators are completed but clearly the survivors weren’t playing well, you could have won in an identical fashion later, and them surviving for a few more seconds (because I’m sure you chased that Jane down, again) is not some problem that needs to be addressed.

The power extension was that DS was used in a method it was NOT designed for. It was designed as an anti-tunnel perk. Nowhere in this video did I intentionally camp and/or tunnel the Jane.

You keep talking about bloodpoints but I already stated it isn't about the bloodpoints. It's not about how many gens are left, it's about a perk being used in a way that is extending it's original point of power in the first place.

Btw no I did not down the Jane right away, 5 seconds was enough for her to unhook the Nancy and for her to take a hit with BT to then pick up the Zarina.

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

So, while you state it is strategic to pick up Jane, it would also been strategic to pick up another guy.

Furthermore, you are complaining on a very high level. 5 Gens to go, you won the game. And I highly doubt that this DS turned the game around.

And while this is not the point of your Thread, it should be pointed out that your complaint is ridiculous.

If I pick up the Jane that absolutely should NOT be punishable. Yes I understand I could have picked up the other two survivors in case they had Unbreakable. But you know what, so what if they DID have Unbreakable? Then yeah I would accept that as fair because that's what Unbreakable is for.

If DS is supposed to be an anti-tunnel perk, then where does the ridiculous complaint you state come into play here?

  • @Desh said:

Jane wasn't even intentionally trying to bait you with DS. She was just in range of infectious fright and you ran straight towards her instead of hooking the other 2 downed survivors. I don't see what the problem is here. It's not like she hopped into a locker mid chase with it and you either eat it or wait nearly 60 seconds for it to wear off.

So you're saying that I'm supposed to ignore Infectious Fright, let Jane happily get the unhook, pick up the other survivor all while I carry the one survivor to the hook. It's not like they made any mistakes here. Clearly it's not fair that I down them too quickly for making mistakes, god forbid I try to touch the Jane after hooking another survivor and downing two more.

  • @LALYTHIA said:

I love that THIS is the video you choose to use as an example to complain about DS. 😂 Call me when you aren't 4king with 5 generators still up about how DS is OP. 🙄

This is the only video I use to complain about DS because I don't get hit with DS from tunneling in the first place. Sorry if other Killer's have given you bad experiences with tunneling but I clearly can tell that you don't have any actual feedback on the topic.

  • @Steel_Eyed said:

There’s five gens left. So what’s the problem?

My play here, when you’re so far ahead in a game is not to go for the early four kill, but allow them to unhook. I am not happy with my 14,000 blood point 4k’s.

I would have let the Jane live and unhook the other three. If it was one or two gens, go for the win, but this early of a win is an unfulfilling game for me and the other four playing with me.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/143156/can-anyone-explain-what-i-did-wrong-here

That's 100% NOT the issue here. You may need bloodpoints or someone else may need more bloodpoints, however, I have almost everything maxed out BOTH Killer and Survivor.

The point of the video is that situations such as this, locker tech., etc. should not be given that far of an extension of power.

  • @Peanits said:

Of all the people you have on the ground, you picked up the one that was the least recovered (furthest away from being able to use Unbreakable if they have it) and the only one that was unhooked recently. The smart move would have been to pick up one of the other survivors in case they're running Unbreakable, preferably the first person you downed since they're the most recovered.

I picked her up to hook her further away, so I can then see the aura of the other two survivors on the ground with BBQ, it was strategic. What I didn't count on, was being punished for taking advantage of their mistakes by staying too close to the hook.

I understand your POV, however, I really have to disagree in seeing the logic of why someone in my position should be punished for capitalizing on THEIR mistakes.

  • This is your 2nd or 3rd post complaining about Mori’s. Do you have any ideas for actual alternatives for them?

  • Only if you feel it’s absolutely worth it. As in, are you a Feng main, do you have solid builds with her and/or are you able to play with her without compromising the fun for yourself. Always look at it from a logical perspective, only if you feel you’ll get your money’s worth out of it in the long run, if not, don’t feel so bad, it’s really just a cosmetic.

  • My Infectious Fright BBQ Billy says hello

  • It’s for the better health of the game. If you can’t survive long enough without infinite’s and exxxtra long loops, then there’s a problem with the way you’re playing survivor.

  • The only thing I think that was over the top was making the Wake Up Alarm spawn as far as possible when asleep. It should be RNG like Pig’s Reverse Bear Traps.

  • I had a friend who stopped playing because the balance was so bad at high ranks, the queue times were too long for survivor, and it was an overall disappointing experience for Killer.

Hopefully this patch helps to bridge the gap between the skill caps of both players!

  • I will gladly trade that “buff” for this upcoming patch.

Switch to a monitor, believe it or not having a tv actually hinders you because there is a small, slightly noticable delay in everything, the resolution is worse, and if you have a gaming monitor it actually looks cleaner then usual, even for console

I have a 4K 1ms response time free sync monitor for my Xbox One X. I can guarantee you still have to restart your game every 6-10 games to avoid lag/fps drops while playing Killer.

As for survivor, nothing seems to change as drastically if you continue to play, assuming you stay on the survivor role.

  • @humanbeing1704 said:

Yeah but the devs haven’t gave any feedback as to when it a possible timeframe they could be implemented again. Here’s to wishful thinking though 🍺

  • If you live here in the U.S. for the most part I can assure you it’s not a regional/location thing, it’s the lack of people wanting to play killer on this game.

Try loading up as Killer in high ranks and you’ll find a game in less than 5 seconds.

  • @BadMrFrosty said:

The game rarely changes in meaningful ways because the developers take the laziest possible approach to balance and design (basically anything that requires real work or resources that they can dedicate to skins/art is put on the perpetual backburner).

Here are some widely accepted facts about Dead by Daylight:

    • Gameplay loop has been unchanged for years now, and both killer and survivor have remained the exact same since launch.
    • Potentially new features are implemented poorly (breakable walls as a recent example).
    • Developers consistently make excuses to avoid leaving their 'comfort zone' of game development. Examples include: unwillingness to dedicate resources to improving server infrastructure, give models proper/accurate hitbox sizes, fix longstanding bugs, etc.
    • They have specific moderators/users dedicated to only championing their cause in posts/agreeing with their design changes, even if they're objectively awful.
    • It's plain to see that most of their monetary funds go into art/character design (the one thing that's spot on every time). Yes, I am aware that separate teams work on different sections of the game, but it's way too clear at this point which teams receive the most backing/help/hires/whatever.

This game will only get to an acceptable standard if some solid competition exists in the genre and rises up to challenge BVHR, or if people stop playing in droves.

👏 well said, this kind of idea is what people who look at both sides equally already understand. Those who ply mostly survivor or killer won’t really understand the problem.

  • There’s a major hole in your response.

1.) I have to bring that offering for it to work.

2.) The survivor must be hooked (with the exception of a Cypress)

3.) Even if it was any kind of mori, the survivor reached the hatch before I could down him.
