  • Do gens.

On a serious note, I'm going to do this tonight.

    Probably more than once.

I wonder how the devs will fix it.

  • Looking forward to it tonight.

Survivors still seem to think they're amazing in these situations too lol

  • You get the charm if you buy it from Steam I think...

  • The devs like cooldowns nowadays... give it a 60 second cooldown.

  • Blood Bond

Survivors who share an extraordinary bond with each other share in each other's success and pain.

Survivors in a SWF group share all cooldown and status effect timers.

When Survivor A uses sprint burst, all group members suffer exhaustion.

When Survivor A's madness is removed, all member's madness is removed.

When Survivor A uses Decisive Strike, all member's Decisive Strike is consumed.

If Survivor A stuns the Killer, all members of the group receive the points.

If Survivor A gains a protection hit, all members of the group receive protection hits.

    and so on.

  • Yes please, buff Hag and make her Ultra rare and Very rare actually worth their rarity.

  • Dark devotion is going to be one of his best perks in the same way Stbfl is very good on demogorgon and deathslinger.

    It's uniquely powerful on him.

Call me crazy, but given the history of indigenous people after settlers met them, putting them in a situation where they're doomed to be brutally killed forever might not exactly be the best way to include indigenous people.

I was thinking about that as well when I wrote the post, but then the same consideration should apply to the other survivors who are currently in the game and the races they represent. Especially Claudette and Adam and the history of brutality against their representative people. Not to mention their intention to include a survivor with an lgbtq+ facet to their backstory. Would this same consideration be applied to the character as well? To be doomed to be brutally killed forever?

If this was a reason not to include indigenous people, then perhaps survivors themselves shouldn't have races or orientations at all.

Like I said, it most likely is a PR stunt but it doesn't take away the fact it could help the movement around the cause. It also could be that they actually support minorities, even if it took them 3 years. Opinions can and do change over time.

Heterosexuality has been forced on people for a long time and it still is an ongoing problem. That is the reason why saying "don't shove it down our throats" hurts people who doesn't fit the straight norm. Especially them who found out their "odd" orientation at young age.

Lore is lore. It can be rewritten, you can always add more to it, take away from it, whatever the writers feel like. Not accepting diversity just because lore hasn't been detailed doesn't really sound a strong argument.

I'll believe that they support minorities when I see an Indigenous Person as a Survivor in their game. IPs are notoriously discriminated against in Canada and since BHVR is based in Canada, that would show more support for diversity than supporting lgbtq+ during pride month.

For reference on the topic, particularly the Indigenous Rights section:

Canada is a diverse, multi-cultural democracy that enjoys a global reputation as a defender of human rights and a strong record on core civil and political rights protections guaranteed by the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. The government of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has made notable efforts to advance human rights in Canada. The Trudeau government has been a vocal advocate for a pluralistic society that respects the rights of immigrants, people with disabilities, lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) people, and other minorities.

All in my opinion of course.

They're fictional characters, they're whatever the devs say they are.

Which is also why giving them a sexuality doesn't really matter imo. By leaving it out, players can choose the sexuality of their character on their own.

But as a person with a strong sense of self, I don't need representation in a video game although I know how nice it would feel to have a Mexican Killer in the game.

An aztec priest would be way cooler, I want to see a mori where the priest performs a sacrificial ritual and eats the heart of the survivors.

If I'm correct, some Priests were Warriors :) It was a culture of warriors similar to the Spartans if my memory is correct.

The Hag isn't a survivor is she? Whatever type of human the Killer USED to be doesn't matter now that they're a servant of the Entity... At least that's the way I look at them.

  • I'm still waiting for my Aztec Warrior Killer.

    Killer Diversity when?

Side note: I don't care about the lore of the Survivors other than they simply belong on the hook. That's all I need to understand :)

None of those involve an AI without human input. HUMANS can do anything. HUMANS can judge things. Your point is invalid. As for technical knowledge, I create 3D models for a living here in Montreal; for video games on a contract basis. I feel like I probably have more knowledge of this process than you do. Better go make a video on it.

In all honesty - even the DEVS know it's impossible for it to be accurate and based on skill. Hence why they literally said they are prioritizing "fairness" last in the MMR, with latency being the first determining factor; but okay.

    "Humans can do anything"

That includes creating an MMR system for a video game that can accurately measure player skill.

    /thread.

  • @Frankie said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1344234#Comment_1344234

No, it really is impossible. There's too much player involvement embedded into skillful plays to have an accurate assessment from an AI. Period. BHVR, dev or not, does not get to define what "skill" is. The players are the measuring stick, not them. Skillful is how long you can be chased without using a single pallet, not how many pallets you can use to not be caught.

You're wrong, you will always be wrong. Keep being wrong.

    The lightbulb was impossible.

    Human flight was impossible.

    Space travel was impossible.

Creating an MMR system might be impossible FOR YOU, but not for anyone else with the technical knowledge and drive to make it a reality.

Also, the Human body is incapable of surviving speeds in excess of 50km/h.

I was trying to put it nicely, but no, its not impossible. You are 100% incorrect. Any situation you can dream up in game can be configured into the algorithm. It would need to be REALLY good and would take a ton of coding and testing, but its absolutely possible. You can see this in a lot of algorithms that are already out there doing irl things that are much more complex.

The hardest part is for bhvr to define what they consider to be skillful and what isnt. Once they decide that then they can program it.

And honestly, doesnt even need to be that complicated. It can be as simple as defining a win/lose/draw condition. Over time, despite rng, tge more skilled players are going to win/draw more than unskillful players.

The first thing they need to do though is clearly define the win condition for the match.

I'm very interested to see what they end up doing with this.

  • I had this same thought and how it will affect most content creators :)

    https://youtu.be/cdvyWufiGrA

  • The Executioner has a unique mori tied to his power.

I imagine that this was an experiment to see how well it went over with the community. Since it seems successful and well received, I'm willing to bet that we're going to see similar mories introduced to existing killers with unique prerequisites and/or the (3rd hook & affected by power) prerequisites would be applied to mori offerings.

There's precedent for the devs removing offerings that suit the changes the game has undergone, so I forsee offerings being removed, the mori conditions changing and becoming part of the killer's kit.

    But I guess we'll see.

  • If you quit, then you didn't really want it that much in the first place.

I've been creating since 2017 and am still under 10k subs on YT.

This is a business and I'm looking very closely at what I'm doing right and wrong in order to improve.

I'm not sure how the Meme market works, but if you're trying to create funny videos, you need to create a brand where people recognize you as a meme creator rather than simply recognize your meme.

Generator Jake comes to mind. I didn't care what the context of the meme was, I simply knew that if he made it, it was probably good. He stopped making them several months ago though.

That should be your goal if you really want to be successful.

    Create a brand.

    Create what you enjoy.

Create what you want to see.

    Create a lot.

    Create often.

Create for yourself and not the numbers.

I think increasing the time it takes to disarm them to 3 seconds is fair. I dont think it should be removed entirely.

If its a real problem for you run franklins and prioritize the person with flashlight.

It would be interesting to hear @SpaceCoconut thoughts on this though

    @Boss said:

    Guess i'll give this a go: @SpaceCoconut

    I've been summoned from vacation!

Ok, so I really have been thinking about flashlights as Hag for quite awhile. Let me share some of the simpler thoughts I've had...

    1) Flashlights are technically a weapon survivors have to fight against killers. The majority of killers can only be blinded, but a few are actively hindered by flashlights. Wraith is burned and stunned for what like 5 seconds? Nurse can be burned mid blink and Hag's traps can be removed. No other killer is hindered the way these killers are. The devs often balance things so they're even across the board so we can hope that we see a balance pass that removes these mechanics from these particular killers since they're not present in other killers.

2a) The Trapper suffers from the same problem but without the need for a flashlight. Disarming traps takes nothing but time from a single survivor but will cost the Killer the time it takes to travel to and reset the trap if they do so immediately. This is a mechanic that allows survivors to fight against the killer rather than hide or run from them. The solution to this problem were both given in the form of UR addons and in my opinion is a poor choice.

2b) Wraith used to have an UR addon that prevented burn but was removed and the flashlight burn mechanic remains. Hag has some very bad addons that need some adjustment and could be used to address this particular problem. Changing Granma's Heart or Disfigured Ear to protect traps against flashlights would be a decent change since those addons don't do much for the Hag anyway. However, the survivor's ability to last second swap to items is an unrelated problem that would prevent the killer from being able to apply the addon before the match starts.

    3) On her release, crouching used to trigger traps. Flashlights were the tool used to get around that to make it more balanced. Survivors were later given the ability to crouch past traps which is fair, but they also kept the ability to destroy traps with a flashlight giving them a way to directly hinder the Hag's power.

    4) Compared to any other killer, Flashlights are MOST impactful for a Hag player. No other killer can be shut down by a single item the way a Hag can be. A single survivor that knows how to use their flashlight against a Hag can essentially win for the team since the Hag player won't be able to lead survivors into traps since the traps have been removed. Spending time to tunnel the flashlight user will cost you more gens, and as a Hag player, you don't start to snowball until the several gens are complete anyway.

Taking these thoughts into consideration, flashlight mechanics outside of blinding killers should probably be removed outright since the survivors have no real way to fight back against other killers by design. Pallets stun and stall killers, but nothing can STOP a killer from playing the match. Survivors are trying to escape the killer not stop them.

Currently, a smart survivor with a flashlight can stop a Hag cold the same way a smart survivor without one can stop a Trapper, and I don't think that's an intended design of the character or the game as a whole. For Wraith, a flashlight will cause a wraith to run and try to take cover to avoid being burned... is it the intention of the devs that killers run and hide from survivors? Certainly not.

Few players play as Hag which leads to less players who understand how to play against her so the issue is less pronounced. If she becomes more popular that will change.. especially if the rumor of Hag's presence in the upcoming Tome is true.

The power of flashlights are more impactful against Wraith and Hag. This certainly isn't fair, but they're the remnants of past design choices that haven't been updated along with everything else and is something that should be talked about and hopefully addressed in the near future.

I'm glad you're bringing this up and flattered that you're interested in my opinion on the matter. I'm sure they were kind of all over the place, but I hope I made sense.

Also... Waterlogged Shoe should let traps trigger on crouching survivors instead of what it currently does. 🥥

Super overrated. He only got a 3K in his first Haddonfield match, and then got Decisive Striked with a coat hangar. He was such a noob that Laurie got that Adept achievement, and then never shut up about it for 40 years.

He doesn't even know how to chase. He's constantly AFK through everything like his mom keeps yelling at him to take out the trash.

It's a nice design and it won because people liked it.

If people wanted a nerdy looking claudette, that would have won. it didn't. people wont want it. nothing more needs to be said.

No one is questioning the winner's skill or quality of submission. It won because the Judges liked it.

The criticism is directed at the judges, and the fact that this thread exists means that people would have wanted it.

Hey,that's another great idea :) Could rip or cut their heart out for the Mori. There's some real potential if you ask me. Probably things I can't even think of. Most of the comments are arguing about the race/ethnicity of existing characters, or basically saying I should know because of some lines of text. So while I appreciate all constructive comments,I appreciate the suggestions most. I'd draw something up if I had the skill. I think a Voodoo type killer would be neat too,but that's off topic.

    Exactly what I was thinking.

Eh, I find it very useful (increased duration). Guess we disagree on that. :3

I might play with Sloppy and Bloodhound for fun later.

It's how I learned how to track survivors when I first started out :)

Every since they increased the killer's breathing volume, Myers physically can't sneak up on me anymore. Its not selective hearing.

Is the volume increase only for Myers or can you hear all killers?

  • I'd like to also add in a change to help people with less than amazing artistic ability to participate in these contests.

Allow the ability to gain outside assistance or provide a separate category for the artistically challenged.

While it may not be the case, it seems like only good artists will win these contests when you consider the past winners and finalists.

I dunno about anyone else, but I feel less inclined to participate in the next one when I feel like I'll have no chance thanks to my inability to color within the lines.

  • $15-$20 yep

I don't think anyone is taking into consideration that this "new character" won't require a bloodpoint grind in the same way that Joey Legion doesn't require another grind if you've grinded out Frank Legion's perks.

    ...cash grab lol

    Hemorrhage & Blindness 101

    How to buff them

    Hemorrhage

    • Makes you leave blood trails while in the healthy state, and brightens your blood trail (exactly like Bloodhound) while in the injured state (also includes dying state).

    Blindness

    • Become shrouded in darkness, you cannot see further than 24 meters around you.

Done deal, you now have viable add-ons worthy of the Very Rare title. 🙂

    Legion level blindness yes please.

Hemo should have a stronger effect for being a time limited addon. Bloodhound level brightness and duration along with the amount of bloodloss please.

Can we add oblivious to this list too?

Do we actually have halfway accurate numbers? The prices would interest me quite a bit.

Contracts like this are usually kept under wraps.

If Silent Hill gained more interest as a licensee, they could ask for more without worrying about the person saying "well you only charged BHVR this much"

  • Millions of dollars plus royalties to pay for a single license.... and you want cosmetics for those expensive licenses for free?

    :)

    Nope.

  • They never bring up sound so we can assume that killer players are intended to have an audio handicap.

Nurse probably doesn't work as intended, but since no one plays her anymore it's probably not a big deal anyway.

    @emptyCups said:

only if they negatively affect survivors

    This is why.

  • I think so too.

    Same with the mini mories.

They've done it before by introducing new mechanics and then using them to fix old mechanics.

Steve's perk and syringes as an example.

  • Pretty on par with all recent DLC honestly.

I didn't expect good perks for the killer or a lack of "health state" perks for the survivor.

All is as I've predicted... unfortunately.

But the surv perks aren't too bad I guess.

  • @Imc91 said:

Yeah I really don't care too much about the gender of characters, but I would have loved James in the game.

He'll probably be a legendary skin in the future.

  • So can we safely assume that if you don't have epic artistic ability you have no chance of winning? lol

Poor unartistic chumps.. for future contests can we communicate our concept to a better artist than ourselves to actually have a chance at these things lol

  • They usually keep characters gender equal.

    Male killer, female survivor

    Female killer, male survivor.

It's not a solid rule, but it happens more often than not.

  • An important thing to ask is how old is the video?

Many moons ago, Trapper could put a trap directly under the hook preventing survivor escapes and kobe's. If the video is talking about that old mechanic then it can probably be disregarded.

Also, I tried to make a "What your Survivor main says about you" video, but I quit after remembering that Survivors are just skins and "Survivor Players" as a whole are just looking for an easy casual game to play with no risk to their sensitive egos (/s)

It wouldn't be a very interesting video lol

  • Right now, absolutely nothing.

It's really just an indication of the number of matches that person has played within the past 2 months.

  • @LordGlint said:

Feel like once matchmaking gets fixed things will be alot better off for newbies.

I think so too, but I also think that if MM feels good and matches are fair more often than not we're going to see more balancing towards the competitive spectrum.

Less effective perks and killers will be brought up in effectiveness and More effective perks and killers might see some more "softening".

I'm kind of betting on the new MM system being good, if it is, it really might be the start of many more improvements that are highlighted by that system's implementation.

But all we can do is wait and see lol

  • @twistedmonkey said:

The new player experience has always had these problems as seeing a similar rank has never indicated a fair match up.

If we remember the old rank reset along with how easy it was for players to derank we can see changes have been made over the years to try and eleviate these issues it just that the more this happened the less spread the playerbase has become.

Hopefully something is discussed in the anniversary stream about the upcoming matchmaking changes.

Leaks by Daylight suggested that there are "MM codes" that were discovered and suggested that they would be talked about during the anniversary...

I'm going to be very interested in that segment if it's full of goodies.
