I also don't know how they'd make a power for Chucky that isn't the same thing as Victor

Between the use of Voodoo, Possession of Survivors and something stealthy due to his size.

There are a number of things you could do with his power.

  • 1.The Thing

-Shapeshifting Killer would be rendered powerless against SWF unless bhvr can find a way around it.

    2.Anything related to Stephen King

-There hasn't been a single Stephen King video game in the last 4 decades, so i don't see why there would be any coming to dbd anytime soon.

3.Any niche license that isn't well enough known.

-BHVR wants to make back the money they've spent making a dlc and so niche licenses are a gamble if it ain't got enough recognition.

    4.Child's Play

-Mathieu Cote has doubled down recently on Chucky being too silly to join dbd.

BHVR themselves have stated multiple times in different places that the Sadako Rising chapter is based off of Koji Suzuki's novels AND Ringu (1998).

You can find it on any of their major social media channels:

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/EBAH2XMVASUR/image.png

The chapter is not based off of any ONE timeline or entry. You're saying that it's all based of the Ringu movies but Yoichi's in-game lore contradicts that: "As a child, Yoichi gained an interest in the supernatural from his father and mother when an inexplicable curse claimed both their lives." His mother, Reiko, is not killed by Sadako's curse. She dies in a car accident.

What about the Rickety Pinwheel add-on? It's a reference to Tide (2000) is it not?

They say it's based off on the novel and the movie, but like i said, i have yet to find anything within the dlc's content that's pointing towards the novel in any shape, way or form. Everything from what i've seen from it is just Ringu & Ringu 2 references. if there is any references related to the novel at all, then feel free to show me because i genuinely have not found any.

You're right that Reiko did technically die from a car accident, while possibility of it being a seperate timeline tied to the first Ringu movie where both Reiko or Ryūji dies is there, it's probably just a mistake on bhvr's part for not being more specific about it. Yoichi gained his interest in the supernatural when an inexplicable curse claimed both their lives, as in he gained it after it happened, IE after the events of Ringu 2 since his parents are dead at that point.

Rickety Pinwheel addon is from the cave in Ringu 2

    Untitled.png

Late edit: Yeah It's definitely not a seperate timeline, it very much is only within the Ringu timeline. Only reason the death of Yoichi's parents aren't being specified is because BHVR tends to not always be heavy on details when it comes to licensed lore, sadako and Yoichi aren't the only ones suffering from this. You can see it on other licensed character's lores like Bubba, Bill, Pyramid Head and generally all Resident Evil characters. All of them don't really go too much into details of events or other character's names or what happened to those characters, but you can still tell what timeline/universe those licensed characters come from and same thing goes for both Yoichi and Sadako.

(spoilers for the Nakata and Rasen timelimes ahead!)

I'm aware, I've seen it twice. But it does continue Sadako's and not in a way that aligns with the DbD chapter. Which would mean we have Yoichi from the Nakata timeline and Sadako from a different one, which to me just seems illogical because their in-game lores are intertwined.

Also the Dead by Daylight: Sadako Rising chapter is partly based off of the books written by Koji Suzuki, who is also one of the license holders, hence why he's referenced in the copyright declaration at the bottom of Sadako Rising content:

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/M7TGBHF1JEQS/image.png

Also Kadokawa are also the license holders of Rasen (1998), the first sequel to Ringu (1998) in which Yoichi canonically died as a child.

The chapter is a blend of lore from multiple sources (including the novels where he doesn't even exist), there's no clear timeline or continuation happening with the Sadako Rising chapter, which is why every timelime I've seen has placed it separately. E.g.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/6FN5UTDD2FHJ/image.png

Sorry but that's not true, it's not a blend of lore from multiple sources, the lore of both Sadako & Yoichi are both clearly related to the first Ringu movie, the thing is that because the multiverse exist in dbd, the most likely case is that Sadako is taken before the events of the 2019 movie in a seperate timeline while Yoichi is taken after the events of Ringu 2.

Kadokawa may be the license holder for Rasen, but it doesn't change the fact that the Yoichi we have is clearly based off Ringu & Ringu 2 (which is even stated in the article itself and is showcased in Yoichi's perk icons that has clear references to Ringu 1, even Sadako's Call of Brine perk icon is a reference to Ringu 1, as well as all of her addon icons), even the novel itself despite bhvr saying in a teaser back in December that the chapter is inspired by Kōji Suzuki’s novel and the original acclaimed film adaptation, there is nothing within the chapter's content itself that has any direct connection, references or implications anywhere that suggests it's related to the novel itself, everything within the lore, perks and addons are purely references to Ringu 1 and if there is anything tied to the novel, i have yet to find it.

Also seeing how Koji Suzuki has copyright on the franchise, it's safe to say that he gave the go ahead for Kadokawa and BHVR to create the lore they've made that's clearly related to the Nakata movies.

I mean this doesn't read as canon to me at all. All this is saying is they wanted the characters to be in Dbd?

Also Kadokawa are just the media company who own the license, they weren't the specifically ones who wrote the story or directed the films. Ringu and Ringu 2 were directed by Hideo Nakata, who has himself continued the Ringu timeline with Sadako (2019).

I see no issue with this as a headcanon but everyone else I've spoken to in the fandom has regarded Dead by Daylight: Sadako Rising as existing outside of any of the four major timelines.

The thing is thou, the license holders are the ones who hold legal rights to officially say what's canon and what isn't canon, not the fandom and unless the creator themselves hold the license to the IP, they don't have the power to say what is or isn't canon either.

Seeing as how they wanted Yoichi's lore to be continued in dbd, it gives it more legitimacy for it to be part of the Ringu universe than not.

Also we're talking specifically about Yoichi, Sadako 2019 doesn't continue Yoichi's lore.

"the team at Behaviour Interactive were given free rein to come up with their own version of events" (source: https://www.newsweek.com/dead-daylight-interview-ringu-ring-sadako-rising-kaokawa-behavior-interactive-dlc-1679327#:~:text=The%20interesting%20thing%20here%20is,once%20he%20escaped%20Sadako's%20clutches.)

"Ringu licence-holder Kadokawa allowed BHVR to create new Lore for Yoichi that did not exist in the original franchise." (source: https://deadbydaylight.fandom.com/wiki/Yoichi_Asakawa)

I guess you could headcanon the events of his lore as happening after Ringu 2 but Dead by Daylight I've never seen anyone in the fandom regard Dead by Daylight as a canon part of the Nakata timeline.

"Dead by Daylight' will soon be crossing over with the "Ringu" franchise. In an exclusive interview, Behaviour Interactive spoke about how they adapted this license.

"Anyway, our intention was always to go after the Ringu license. It could very well have been the American Ring, but Kadokawa were interested in continuing the original story and having their characters be part of the Dead by Daylight universe."

Don't know about you, but this reads as confirmation for it to be canon.

Huge Ring fan here! This is correct.

Adult Yoichi is not a character in any of the four major Ring timelines and the films where he's present as a child do not line up with his DbD rendition. For example in Dead by Daylight, Yoichi's lore states he goes to Scotland to investigate disappearances. This never happens in any of the timelines.

Adult Yoichi is technically part of the Ringu timeline since his lore takes place 2 decades after Ringu 2, it's even considered canon to that timeline by the rights holder iirc.

  • There was something like that in the past in the form of offerings, however they were eventually retired for reasons unknown.

Devil's Advocate take (although I'm starting to wonder whether this was an accidental link):

The point they may have been trying to make was to show the lack of understanding - or even care - about the ecology of worlds.

Plus, this could be from one of many Earths; this one where crows did reach Chile. However, if that's the case, I want a tale where sentient tumble dryers rampaged through Cambridge and worshipped a local publord as a deity, who then kills in their name and the Entity takes them. AI sentient tumble dryers in-game - that's all I want now.

They aren't making any point about ecology of worlds and it certainly wasn't a mistake, the crows (who aren't even natural crows) were obviously sent by the entity since, you know, crows have long been established to be connected to the entity itself, Seriously it's not some big mystery.

Also House of Arkham entry 2 in Tome 12 confirms only Carmina could see the crows.

Sadly you are right, rip... They started release exc costumes, i hope they listen all feedbacks and revert this. All costumes should be in store after a while.

Correction, they started releasing exclusive cosmetics back when they introduced amazon prime content drop for dbd, which i don't remember seeing that many people complaining about tbh.

What we're seeing now is bhvr taking it to the next level.

Because there's so many psychos to choose from. It's a really unique game that you wouldn't expect to be horror but it does have some elements of that. I think BHVR could be really creative with it and make it a great love letter to HM, which is basically a dead series unfortunately.

I think Martin Brown as The Pig Butcher is the best fit for that since the entire thing of Midnight Animal is that it's a fictional slasher flick.

  • Still holding out hope for a Phantasm Chapter one day.

demo had his own theme and Myers had since the beginning. It’s weird cause if the copyright with the franchises.

Demo always had it's menu and chase music since the release of the Stranger Things dlc and Myers still hasn't recieved any custom menu music after 6 years (and no, the halloween jingle doesn't count).

Again, i don't expect any licensed killer released prior to ghostface to ever get any new music at this point.

  • @Chilli_man2400 said:

The only killers left that need chase music is Wraith, Nurse, Huntress, Bubba, Freddy, pig and plague

I don't think Bubba, Freddy and Amanda will ever get their own music. only reason ghostface got any was because he's part original.

I hope i'm wrong but considering bubba didn't get any back when he and hillbilly got reworked, my expectations for it to happen are low.

🤔 just as i feared, the chase music is too much

the approaching music would be nice as a chase

haggie is supposed to be scary and quiet and i would personally prefer her to not have any music

Gonna have to disagree with that, i think it fits hag fine.

Actually no where did I specify that it was just a chapter, and honestly at first I had the name of the thread something like “new upcoming chapter or at least a skin??!!” But I changed the name. This thread was more of showing people and the devs that he’s trying to contact them. Also if he was added as a killer, just because they’re both clowns doesn’t mean they both have to operate the same way. They could have 2 totally different powers

tbf, we already have 2 chainsaw killers and people are still asking for Pennywise to be added, so it's not like it would be the first time we would have a character similar to another existing character in theme but different in power altogether.

  • I haven't seen that many people requesting Terrifier to be added, so i'm not entirely sure if there is enough demand for it to happen.

However i wouldn't mind getting Art the Clown into the game even if he's not on my top 3 most wanted licenses for DBD.

  • As much as i dislike the time limited exclusivity, it honestly shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone that they're trying to do this now considering how they got away with it before with the whole amazon prime exclusivity.

  • I doubt we'll ever see Scary Movie itself join dbd tbh.

However the probability of the 3 other GF masks featured in Scary Movie come into the game are more likely than ever now.

  • The crows were obviously sent by the entity, also entry 2 in the latest house of arkham tome entries expands upon Carmina's lore quite a bit and explains things more in depth.

    @Chadku said:

It doesn't help that tomes are AU's so even if they're lore it's not even for the canon characters.

Maybe next survey will ask if ppl want a continuity or not.

The Killer and Survivor specific tomes aren't AUs, it has never been confirmed or even implied to be so, what is an actual AU however is the Terra Arachna observer entries.

  • Can't say i agree, i personally think most of them have been made better as a result.

  • Remake Jason would only become an option if OG Jason isn't an option the license holders are willing to let BHVR use, the devs have said in the past that they always aim to get the original version if possible.

  • Would 100% do a Phantasm chapter

    Killer: The Tall Man

    Survivor: Reggie

    Survivor: Mike Pearson

Legendary Skin for Mike: Jody Pearson

Weskers is moreso a huge reference to his final boss fight in RE5. Mainly how one of his arms turned monstrous and while he didn't undergo a HUGE mutation,it was still obvious. So I'm pleased with it overall

I feel you on that, i only just wish that they would have also blighted wesker's face up a bit similar to how his skin turns dark around the eyes during the final boss stage, other than that, it's pretty neat.

  • I feel like it's making a big deal out of nothing.

dbd doing crossover events in other games outside the genre isn't gonna affect it or make it less horror theme'd, that's just nonsense talk.

Cosmetics and Charms that are none horror related is whatever at this point since we have plenty of none horror related customizations for both Survivors and Killers in the game already.

Also it's not like dbd is gonna stop doing horror related content or crossovers in the future anyway.

  • You're clearly not looking at the details then, because there are some clear noticable differences.

    Untitled.png

Pieces of clothing around the leg are sticking out.

    Untitled2.png

Chest Plate face is deformed with two faces merging into one another and is more demonic looking. The shoulder plates is a little damaged as it's missing a bit and it's face are more demonic since it spouts darker and longer horns and thicker fangs as well as pointer ears. Oni's body features Blisters similar to those featured on Spirit's blight outfit body, althou to a lesser degree here. The Katana ring bit in the bottom is broken and the hilt has been knocked out of position, the blade also features blight bubbles (we can't see the rest of the blade atm.)

    Untitled3.png

Most of the previous details can be seen here as well, althou now the arm glove can be seen as being slightly damaged since it's missing a small bit. The Shoulder plate face shows more clearly now that it also features sharp teeth which the default doesn't.

    Untitled4.png

While it may not be a complete reimagining of default Oni, it's different enough from his default version imo and frankly looks neat enough as it is.

If you feel different about it then more power to you, but like i said before, we're gonna have to agree to disagree on it.

  • @Steel_Eyed said:

I think it’s closer to Trapper or Plague. The base model with slight alterations.

Spirits is high level outfit. Total reimagination of her image. Grotesque. Recolored. The weapon is totally unique.

Oni has a modified mask. The rest is glowy base outfit.

Apart from the mask, Oni's body has recieved some blight bubbles, some blisters too (Same blisters Spirit had on her blight outfit body) as well as having his armor deformed from what it originally looks like, also i'm pretty sure the katana got some changes too even thou we only see the handle of it

Whether you think it's enough or not is up to you, however to me i think it looks pretty neat and reminds me more of spirit's outfit than trapper's, so we'll have to agree to disagree on the quality.

Here's hoping there's a suprise Cindy Campbell/Brenda Meeks paragraph to go with Wassupface

tbf, all ghostface masks featured in the movie is owned by Funworld including the wazzup mask, while Scary Movie is owned by Dimension films i believe.

  • It's not about why, it's about why not?

  • I think Oni looks alright, imo it looks more in the vein of spirit's blight outfit.

Wasn’t Sadako (the one in the game) based on the original book?

Sadako in the game is based solely on the movie.

  • Only change that would truly matter is adding Carl the Cashier as the Survivor to ghostface's chapter.

Any other potential changes is secondary to this.

  • Marta would be pretty neat.

However i much rather want a Phantasm chapter.

  • I don't think it should be outright removed since it's part of myer's identity, instead i would rather put more requirements on the ability to kill someone by hand.

I highly doubt we'll ever see any legendary cosmetics for Bill simply because bhvr can't make money off any of valve's IPs, best bet would be more cosplay cosmetics which we already have of everyone except Nick, Coach and Louis.

  • I rather want Marta from Outlast 2 than any of the antagonists from Outlast 1

  • So do i, but that doesn't change the fact that indoor maps are less popular than outdoor maps and i can imagine something like the overlook hotel would quickly become the new worst map in the game.

Maps and related things I'd love to see

    • The Overlook Hotel from The Shining. Both the hotel and its topiary maze would make for cool maps.
    • The Event Horizon ship. (Such a great and creepy movie!)
    • A killer I'd love to see is a Medusa that inflicts conditions on survivors who have her in their field of view. (Kind of like how they break Ghost Face out by having him in their field of view but in reverse where the survivors get Blind or Hindered or Incapitated or Exposed, etc, over time.) Alongside that though would be a map which is either a cavern or garden littered with the statues of her unwary victim and animals that passed through.
    • A barricaded shopping mall, ala Dawn of the Dead and such.
    • A sewer system or underground complex, ala the old Hawkins map.
    • A haunted battlefield. Could be a medieval battle, or a Civil War or World War I or II style battlefield. (Which era it is would probably depend on what killer if any is associated with it.
    • A creepy ghost cruise ship. (On a tangent, Triangle is an awesome creepy movie centered on an abandoned cruise ship, well worth seeing! 😄)

If people already dislike something like RPD, they're absolutely gonna hate something like the Overlook Hotel as a map simply because of how tight in size the corridors are and how large the entirety of the hotel is, that's not even mentioning the entirety of the outside itself and how huge the labyrinth would be to have.

  • Female Cenobite aka Deep Throat & Butterball as legendary skins for Pinhead

They can always rework Chris's STARS Face to make his hair more darker and remove the facial hair. Because RE1 Chris was cleanshave while RE5 Chris had brighter Brown Hair and Facial Hair. There's a few things they can do to prevent the repeat of cosmetics.

You're right, there are stuff they can do to not reuse what we have now and i did also mentioned how his model's appearance in the first DBD RE trailer actually looks like RE1 chris.

However i'm also just saying that until they actually do rework his face to look like how he's suppose to appear in the early RE games, i don't expect to see a BSAA chris skin come into the game without it just being a rehash of his current face, and frankly i don't expect to see any types of changes or reworks happening anytime soon currently unless they do a RE related event or another RE chapter.

  • Giving an outfit it's own outfit would be the first time bhvr would do something like this and unless they change Chris's current face to look like how it was seen in the first RE trailer, you would pretty much be paying for the same head current Chris has and seeing how people already dislike paying for the same cosmetic twice (Jill's Impervious Agent Head piece & Ada's Undercover Espionage leg piece), i'm not so sure how many people are gonna be sold on this.

  • Personally i think it would be interesting to see Joyce in the fog with her lore being that she ended up there in her search for Jonathan after his disappearance in that timeline of stranger things.

The lawsuit has been over for a while now, there's talk about a new reboot friday movie coming out in 2023.

  • I think Psycho is the only one who would fit in DBD well as well as having a chance of making it in too when compared to the other options.

I don't think we'll ever see American Psycho come into dbd because i don't see how they could capture and translate the essence of the movie in a game like dbd since American Psycho is more than just Patrick Bateman running around with a chainsaw while naked.

Also i highly doubt we'll ever see any of King's work come into dbd or any other video game for that matter, last time there was a game of his work was about 2 decades ago and i don't see that changing anytime soon.
