  • For me, i think all of the current tracks have been pretty good, sure some of the chase parts of the most recent chase tracks could use a bit more variety, but even then they're still decent enough.

This feels like prime fixing what wasn't broken. What was the mindset behind the change?

Hell if i know, it definitely wasn't thoroughly thought through that's for sure, but if we make enough noise then they're going to revert it, at least i hope so judging by some of the past changes that got reverted because of outcry.

I will be curious to see what the plot is, since I think it's hard to adapt games that don't already have a narrative. My bets are on the OG four survivors to get chased through the woods by Trapper and maybe Huntress.

Except it does have several narratives from the tomes to pick from, even then they can always make a new one just for the movie if non of the non-playable character related tomes can't be adapted.

  • I think the closest we'll ever get to these classic monsters are through inspired halloween cosmetics for existing killers, Doctor has Frankenstein and Hag has the Creature from the Black Lagoon.

I don't think we'll ever actually see any of these monsters as their own characters in general and if we do, then it's not gonna be the classic version most people are familiar with, it's gonna be bhvr's own version.

The last chapter and the upcoming chapter are disasters and the community is very unhappy. Knight is a killer that has a power that promotes holding 3 gens, the same goes for the skull merchant. Both are boring to play as and against. And this is a huge problem for DBD. If they keep pumping out bad chapters this game is going to die soon. Unless they have planned an actual banger for the upcoming anniversary event I don't have much hope that this game is going to be around for long anymore. So my hopes are that the TCM game is going to be very popular and a serious competitor for DBD. I hope that this will force BHVR to make good chapters so they can keep being the most popular asymmetrical horror game.

"But TCM isn't like DBD? Stop comparing those games."

That is true and it is also true with the other asymmetrical games. I hear that counter-argument very often when someone brings up the argument in this post. But that counter-argument is missing the point. We all shouldn't forget that despite the games not being the same, they have the same target audience. So if VHS would be successful, they are still going to be a competitor to DBD. Same goes to Evil Dead: The Game and of course the Texas Chainsaw Massacre game. And I am starting to think more and more that the only way DBD can keep itself alive is by having a competitor that puts them under pressure. Though I am also going to be realistic and acknowledge the fact that the game is only based on one license so it might be tough for them.

Just about everything you've written in this thread has already been repeated and regurgitated by others in the past who's made the same type of threads every single time a new potential dbd competitor comes along.

Like all those other asym dbd competitor games that people make out to be dbd's fated replacement or rival, TCM will not make a difference to the majority of dbd's playerbase numbers and the game will continue on as always because people will still continue to play and dump money into this game despite the occassional less popular chapters that comes every now and then.

  • No, because it was never going to return in the first place.

  • They should have expanded on the deathgarden cosmetics for sure.

Yeah if we’re going by that logic then Artist was meant to be candyman and legion was meant to be Ghostie

It’s just BHVR’s take on a style of horror character so of course there will be overlap

Don't you know? Every original killer was obviously supposed to be a licensed character originally, it's the only real explaination why a new character would have something similar that an already existing character has. /s

Legion, Ghostface and Plague were all fixed as a final "love letter" from McLain before he left the company.

I am convinced there will never be updates for old killers besides the "trapper gets T W O traps" treatment. Even the roadmap for this year mentions nothing about Killers reworks.

Actually it was Almo that worked on ghostface and legion's rework, not McLean.

The last killer McLean worked on was Blight around the release of the Descend Beyond chapter.

  • I imagine that the game would get banned in some countries if they did make him as gory as he is in the movies, however i'd still love for Art to be in DBD regardless of the lack of gore.

Just give me more horror movie licenses in general.

  • Something that felt like it should have been part of onryo's basekit is that once you become fully Condemned, you cannot undo it along with suffering from perma exposed.

Would make getting condemned have a much bigger consequence for Survivors that allows themselves to become it.

lol every game like this that comes out they say the same thing: "its going to end dbd, it will give dbd a run for its money, it will force the devs to do wonders"

And here we are, still playing dbd, still complaing about anything, still waiting for the next game.

And I'll tell ya, this Texas one will come and go and will still be here and so will Dbdfan398.

The only people that wish to see dbd dead or replaced is dbd fans themselves.

  • Personally i think all horror games stops being scary after playing them for long enough, goes for both online games and offline games.

As for the topic of the thread: last time i got jumpscared in dbd was when i had a Survivor who sneaked up on me while working on gen, which in turn caused me to mess up a skill check.

  • Not what i had in mind when thinking of redesigning her, but this would still be better than what we have atm.

  • Aesthetics aside, it was probably my least favorite indoor map to play on.

  • Blight's inspiration is directly based off of Dr. Jekyl & Hyde, Doctor and Hag both has a halloween cosmetic each that's heavily inspired by the classic monsters, Doctor's being Frankenstein and Hag's being The Creature from the Black Lagoon.

BHVR prefers to make their own original versions of archetypes and it shows.

I stated "Im not sure about the validity of this" for a reason (mainly since I was not able to find many sources of this being in the actual game itself).

But even if, I do not see the harm in adding it at a later date, especially when considering the menu music for Survivors changed during Project W, and the potential for another Silent Hill chapter is still there seeing as there are many other characters who can join the fog.

Fair enough, while i personally don't think we should get another SH chapter, they absolutely should add custom lobby music for older licensed survivors, although i would say if we ever get silent hill lobby music, i think the best way to do it would be to make an entirely new song that's akin to the vocal songs from the Silent Hill games.

  • @Iron_Cutlass said:

When DBD had its PTB for the Silent Hill Chapter, it had it's music composed (and/or approved) by Akira Yamaoka (which I remember was a huge deal at the time). So I decided to look back and noticed how the current music we have feels and sounds significantly different compared to the PTB.

    PTB:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xwz9g8U8buw

    Current DBD:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x-gvR6dDTz4

But also when doing some digging (and Im not sure of the validity of this since finding sources was very difficult), but apparent Cheryl/other Silent Hill characters were suppose to receive lobby music similar to the Resident Evil characters. This was scrapped going into the live game.

Song below (again, not sure about the validity):

    https://twitter.com/dvveet/status/1627769373925703680

Why were these ever scrapped or changed? I really loved the original music (since I feel like they really gave off the Silent Hill vibe a lot more) and it's such a shame to not have these in the live game (especially the lobby music for Survivors). And while most people forgot about this, I still feel as if it is something worth bringing up from the lost potential of it, as this can happen with other licenses where we lose out on potential songs/soundtracks for what seems like no reason.

Except this is completely false, Cheryl was never meant to have any lobby music, what you're listening to is one of the remix tracks for the exclusive bonus album that followed with the Japanese version of Dead by Daylight: Silent Hill Edition. (Of which you can listen to on youtube as well.)

They were never meant to be in the game itself.

    @Xendritch said:

I mean what we got is more in line with what DBD usually goes for but I like the ptb version much more as it's more more unsettling. DBD tries too hard to be intense with it's music sometimes and it's to it's detriment, having something be disturbing and weird can make for good chase music as well.

The live chase music fits pyramid head more as it is more in line with Silent Hill 2's own music, where as the ptb chase music is more in line with that of Silent Hill 1.

  • As much as i'm not a fan of the final result of Tools of Torment, i'm even less of a fan of removing content from the game in general regardless of how good or bad it may be considered by the community.

  • dbd's license for halloween only covers the original movie, so anything outside of it can't be added.

  • They couldn't add any of those since the hellraiser license only covers the first movie.

Also judging by part 2 of the last Mathieu Cote interview with The King and Paulie Esther, we won't get anymore skins for Pinhead.

  • As long as they keep it to lobby voicelines only, they can give it to every Survivor for all i care.

  • Only if her skins are good.

  • Your concept seems solid for the most part, however i still personally think a Big Sister would make a more fitting killer than any of the Big Daddies would.

  • Unless they start reskinning killer powers, i don't see it happening.

  • DBD should only do one chapter per license.

Shattered Square makes for a more interesting map than a Castle map ever would.

I hope Stranger Things never return, i never wanna play on Hawkins Labs again

I hope we never get The Shining as a chapter, the overlook hotel would be really awful as a map given how narrow and tight the corridors would be, not to mention the sheer size of the hotel itself and how large it would be to play on.

Vittorio is a better lore character than Haddie is.

I like that Forge in Fog wasn't a completely medieval theme'd chapter to the degree that most people expected it to be, makes it more interesting.

The Big Sister would fit better as a killer for a Bioshock chapter than a Big Daddy ever would and unlike a Big Daddy, a Big Sister would actually be able to fit through windows when vaulting.

Roots of Dread should have featured one of the Tome Haddies instead of the Haddie we got.

Blight should have his own map that includes the Pustula flowers and the lab from the hallowed blight cinematic cutscenes included, however it would only be playable during halloween.

People who don't read the game lore yet blindly swallows up and repeats the words and opinions of lore content creators on youtube at every given turn should have no say in any matters when it comes to any discussions regarding dbd lore.

  • It’s hard to believe that it’s already been 8 months since our last Anniversary Broadcast, yet January somehow managed to sneak up on us. During that broadcast, we shared a roadmap detailing some of the features we would introduce over the following year, many of which have already become a reality. Our next anniversary is…

  • Not my own headcanon, however the idea that pyramid head is in the entity's realm to punish the entity is a popular headcanon that pyramid's own in-game bio completely contradicts.

  • It's already been confirmed in the year 7 roadmap addition blogpost that such a feature will be added to the game before year 7 is over.

Omg a Hotline Miami skin would be awesome, I would love to see a jacket or biker skin for legion.

    @LordSturm said:

    1. Hotline Miami. Probably as a skin for Legion, but holy #########, that'd be amazing.
    2. A JJBA villain would be pretty awesome, Part 1 Dio is probably the most realistic option. Jonathan or Joseph would be good survivors too - Joseph is, after all, known for running away.
    3. Fire Emblem. I could see a lot of cool killers and survivors coming out of that. Maybe Fomortiis, the Demon King, who could summon monsters around the map to help him, or Black Knight, maybe he'd have some ability to negate stuns since he's practically invincible, or he could shoot the lasers out of his sword as a ranged attack.

Illegal 4th option: Dark Souls. I don't really find it super likely a Dark Souls boss could function as a killer, but it'd be really cool to have someone like Looking Glass Knight, Slave Knight Gael, or even Black Dragon Kalameet. In fact, thinking about it, Black Dragon Kalameet effectively Exposes you in-game, since he has a psychic attack that doubles the damage you take.

Jacket would honestly fit best as a legendary skin yeah, however if there ever were to be an actual Hotline Miami chapter, then there is only one fitting choice for the killer.

    Midnight_Animal_poster.png

Midnight Animal is after all a fictional slasher movie within the Hotline Miami universe itself, so it would make perfect sense having The Pig Butcher featured as Killer of the chapter.

    1. Phantasm
    2. Pumpkinhead
    3. Either Clock Tower (1995) or Ju-On

    Honorable mention: Terrifier

  • Just update your game and it'll fix the problem.

  • The Tall Man from Phantasm

    phantasm.jpg bc1e37d325fd4412468d94e044a5b20f.jpg

Could he work in dbd? absolutely, between the ability to create Dimensional Forks which allows anyone who enters them to travel between time or dimensions, his flying Sentinel spheres that drill into people's skull and sucks out all the victim's blood, his undead re-animated slave army of lurkers and gravers to do his every bidding, there's plenty to pick from to work as his power.

    -

    Matt Cordell from Maniac Cop

    122fdc96d66f58b131b1c306262d0244.jpg

Would he work in dbd? Pretty sure yeah, however given that he's pretty standard when it comes to a horror villain since he only got his brute strength, his nightstick with a hidden blade, sometimes a firearm and an unnatural talent for being stealthy along with a disappearing out of nowhere ability to work with, one might have to get creative with what his power would be.

    -

Pumpkinhead from the movie with the same name.

    jlYXLlsziG7IiYSjhaNwBMCIgxx.jpg

Would the demon of vengeance work in dbd? I believe so, however just like before, one might have to get creative with his power however i believe Pumpkinhead's power could involve the obsession mechanic with one or multiple Survivors.

    -

    The Djinn from Wishmaster

    362b7-wishmaster-poster.png

    Unavngivet.png

Could he work in DBD? I'm not entirely sure actually.

On one hand, he has infinite power beyond your imagination at his disposal, but is held back by the requirement of not being able to use any of that power unless it's to grant a wish or if three(3) wishes has been granted by the one who awoke him. On the other hand, i'm not sure how a wish mechanic could be implemented in the game.

Although given how the Entity in DBD is capable of altering it's killers in many ways including tampering with their powers, it might be possible to come up with a creatively fitting power that doesn't break the rules of the game too much.

    -

    Herbert West from Re-Animator

    reanimator1.png

I'm gonna cheat on the last one and include a Survivor as well, given how Survivor bots are being introduced into the game, i can see a potential for Herbert's inclusion along with a perk that allows him to revive a dead or sacrificed Survivor that would turn them into an AI bot.

  • A faster bloodpoint spending system was announced yersterday in the year 7 roadmap followup.

So i guess you got your wish.

Phantasm would be sick. The Tall Man with the flying death orbs that can manifest just about any attachment would bring a LOT of options for the killer. Including summoning the little cloaked minions (maybe that's how he carries the bodies to the hook?).

Reggie is a must for survivor. You'd figure he'd get ganked five mins into the first movie, but the guy just keeps on surviving though them.

Between the flying Sentinel spheres, the cloaked Lurkers and the masked gravers, i'd say there is plenty to work with when it comes to the Tall Man's power.

A Phantasm chapter would absolutely be incomplete without Reggie as a Survivor, include Mike and Jody as legendary skins and it would be even better.

They played a good game after all.

  • How terrible for you and the other 4 haddie mains out there.

  • I expected a minimum of 8 Feng skins plus 2 extra cosplay cosmetics of both jill & ada's new year cosmetics for feng, yet here we have bhvr only giving us a measly 3 Cosmetics.

Feng mains are truly starving. /s

  • My license wishlist is pretty long, however right now i mostly wanna see another cult classic chapter like Phantasm, Maniac Cop, Pumpkinhead, Re-Animator and Wishmaster in dbd.

  • I rather see new license come into the game than another dlc of an already existing license.

  • Hunk never got his own music or mori, so why would Birkin be any different?

  • Of course he's staying, this is what people get for thinking leakers are always 100% correct no matter what.

  • While not as popular, i personally think a Big Sister from Bioshock 2 would fit better in dbd than a Big Daddy would.

  • Better idea, how about we don't do that?

  • I got plenty of licensed characters on my wishlist that i wanna see in dbd, however knowing bhvr and how they choose their licenses, i very much don't believe that i'll ever get to see any of them in the game.

Borgo map is stale and uninteresting, as a survivor I like indoor maps.

Good for you, however you asked for others opinions and i gave you mine.

To me, a Castle map would be about as boring, uninteresting and overdone of a setting one could do for a medieval map, a burnt down village like borgo on the other hand is something i see much less of and frankly like alot more.

  • I would absolutely have hated a castle map and much prefer what we got.
