  • I would buy it for the sake of completion, however it would definitely be my least favorite chapter.

  • Dunno if this is a known issue but forum drafts are currently inaccessable.

  • I stopped believing that we're ever gonna get any modern horror licenses or horror cult classic licenses, if it's not some big 80's/90's name with a serious horror tone to it or some big video game horror name then bhvr won't care about it one bit.

Hell they'd rather make their own universal monster inspired skins for existing killers than adding the actual characters.

I fully expect them to take the fortnite route and start adding all kinds of stuff that is anything but horror related once they run out of big horror names to acquire.

The lore for sadako in game had liberties taken - lightly based on the book, lightly based on the movie and by extension, the remake. I just want to note that ring 0 itself was based on none of the original three books by koji - it was taken from a short story in a collection of things related to the books, but changed things. But even then, I really disliked the story itself and the adaptation was also not very.. faithful or anything either? Sorry for the jumbled thoughts, but thought that may shed some light on why it's kinda weird.

I'm not so sure about that, despite BHVR originally claiming that the chapter is inspired by both the first Ringu movie and the original Novel, there is actually nothing within the chapter itself that has anything connected to any of the books or the remakes at all.

Sadako's ultra rare skin is from Ringu 1, the addons are a mixture of objects from Ringu 1 & 2 only, the first half of Sadako's in-game lore is merely a summarization of the events of both Sadako's past life before ending up in the well and when she began to curse the tape to the extend of what was told and learned in Ringu 1 without being too heavy on the details, the other half being events bhvr created themselves to give a reason as to how Sadako ended up in the Fog.

If the chapter does actually contain anything related to the books, then i have yet to find it.

You think they'll lock the comments this time, too?

All their steam posts has the comment section locked after set amount of time has passed, it's not exclusive to just the labor of love posts.

  • Imo, i prefer the shirtless cosmetic over a medieval cosmetic and not because of horny reasons, but because we get to see in full display all the arcane tattoos Vittorio has stolen from other Survivors in his very long time spent traveling around in the fog as mentioned in the haunted by daylight tome entry, which i think is really cool.

I actually like the approach they took with the lore and how both the Killer & Survivor's perks, cosmetics and their descriptions reflects it, instead of doing something expected by giving him default clothing that looks closer to that of the era he's from and along with a castle map.

That said however, i'm sure bhvr will give us dark age cosmetics for Vittorio sooner or later if there's enough demand for it.

His look, his presence, his character—everything about his general feel does not really jive with the rest of the game.

I’d like to reiterate, by the way, this isn’t me being pressed about it. I like his aesthetic for what it is; I just think he doesn’t fit the game at all.

Trickster falls under the same type of horror that movies like American Psycho and Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho is part of, Trickster not looking scary is the entire point of his character as it's part of his facade to hide who he truly is behind a mask of normalicy, same thing Patrick Bateman and Norman Bates does in their respective movies.

Trickster is as much horror as they are and fits dbd as much as those 2 characters would should they ever make it into the game.

  • It's a mixture of lore reasons and just my general personal preferences.

TL;DR version: Vittorio's story and the implications of his story, perk descriptions and cosmetic descriptions adds more to the overall lore of dbd than what something like a peasant or wizard Survivor would add, also because we already have Mikaela to fill the Wizard role. I feel like staying 100% authentic to the time-period chosen as the setting for the chapter limits the freedom that can be added to the fantasy of which the world DBD has already established for itself and also because i find it more interesting when there are elements of the supernatural.

    -

Long version: I just think it's more interesting to add more fantasy elements to expand the lore in an older time period than having it be absolutely authentic to how it was back then, it also just feels more limiting in how much freedom you can have with a lore that takes place in a fantasy setting if you try to be as authentic and realistic as possible with it.

As far as the Survivor goes: Vittorio serves as the Indiana Jones of DBD with how he goes on expedition to uncover treasures, artifacts and relics while also researching arcane knowledge, old or lost civilizations, the whereabouts of the Observers, etc.

Overall i feel Vittorio is a more interesting character than what something like a peasant or a wizard would be. If Vittorio was a peasant then he would most likely just be some ordinary nobody with nothing special to him, while if he was a wizard then he would probably be some powerful figure of importance. What we ended up with feels like a nice balance between both.

Also another thing i appreciate about Vittorio is that normally Survivor's default cosmetics are their everyday clothing which they wore when they entered the fog, however because it's not his actual clothing from back before he got taken and the implications of both Vittorio's bio and the text from both his perks & default cosmetics, it means he's managed to find a way to avoid the entity's trial and it's influence to some capacity most likely thanks to some of that arcane knowledge he's been learning about prior since he got that blue aura light on his body and how according the the halloween tome, it's been teased that someone (most likely Vittorio) has been stealing arcane tattoo symbols from the bodies of other Survivors and has added to his own.

As far as the map goes: I think it looks fine as it is aesthetically, looks like the abandoned remains from some medieval battlefield, could maybe use a few adjustments to make scratchmarks easier to see, but other than that it's okay imo.

  • That's a no for me, i prefer the approach they took with the upcoming chapter than a full on historically correct chapter for more than one reason.

  • My inner completionist compels me to.

  • I stopped reading the moment you mentioned Pixel Bush.

  • Kinda but not really.

  • I highly doubt bhvr would ever make a full l4d chapter for the simple reason that they cannot make any money off of it due to it being a valve IP, it's why Bill is free in the first place also.

  • Considering how some licensed characters (both survivor and killer) does not feature linked cosmetic sets while others do, it most definitely boils down to the license holders themselves and what they allow bhvr to do and not do, doesn't matter if the sets clips or not.

Whatever reasons companies like capcom or konami have for linking sets for their character's cosmetics is also gonna be part of their contracts with bhvr which we will never know the details of since that stuff is super confidential.

  • Just remember with Legion, you'll most likely be facing off against all 4 of them at once.

Gracias, that's very interesting for him to have gotten Pyramid Head the serum and to control Nemesis.

Once again how would Pyramid Head would have even known the effects of blight pestulas, and I wonder how he got the information to control Nemesis, hmmm

He probably said: This guy keeps repeating stars. Two minutes later, hey buddy, this will help you get all the stars you want?

    Nemesis: 🤩 S.T.A.R.S.

As far as Pyramid Head goes, how it found the serum or why it decided to injected itself with the serum is anyone's guess.

As far as Nemesis goes, Blight doesn't really control Nemesis any more than he controls any of the other killers he captures and experiments on, moreso he subdues the other killers with the aid of the serum, seeing as how Blight managed to capture and experiment on about 80% of the current killer roster thus far and likely many other yet to be featured killers by injecting the serum into himself, it's safe to say that the effects from the serum is strong enough to take on someone like Nemesis.

Hell, it's possible Nemesis might even have gotten it's ass kicked the same way Trapper got his ass kicked by the Blight as seen in entry 6 of ''The Hallowed Blight Journal Entries and Recollection'' after Blight got bit by a blighted rodent he brought back with a Foul Serum in entry 5.

Thank you,I always wondered how, Blight even managed to inject Pyramid Head with anything.

Now,if you can explain Blighted Nemesis,i would highly appreciate it.

How do you know Pyramid Head injected himself, I've missed a lot of lore in my absence from the game

I assume that he injected himself lorewise based off of what was said on the dbd website that he ''ups the ante as he injects a searing dose of putrid serum into his sytem''

  • So basically the power is a rehash of elements from Trickster's, Legion's and ghostface's powers with the exception of the smoke bomb.

  • Let them cope and seethe all they want.

    Feng Chads stay winning.

  • This is just my jaded 2 cents, but i don't believe bhvr cares about lesser known IPs from any media in general simply because it won't make them enough money, if it's not an already well known and popular IP then they won't give a damn about it and it honestly sucks that they don't.

I can name drop plenty of IPs that would make for great potential chapters, but no it's always just the top dogs they want and it shows given how rougly 90% of all their licensed content in dbd are all older and well established franchises.

  • @ArchAbhor said:

no alien...........yet. It will come I guarantee it. Also I dont think that Predator is a good match for dbd, but I'm not against it. I just cant see Predator walking around like the other killers. Theres too much in his kit to be humoring people who are usually chased down by myers. Xenomorph is a shoe in imo. They already collaborate with other games. I think its in fall guys. Come on BHVR you let fall guys beat you to it lmao.

The thing about games like Fall Guys & Fortnite is that their licensed content are just skins and is only available for a limited time, while with game's like Dead by Daylight where all their licensed content is intended to stay available forever, they have to pay the license holders regularly to renew the license itself and that's a much more expensive thing than if it's only a limited time thing.

A license like Alien can't be cheap at all and i'm not entirely sure if bhvr can afford it in the long run.

  • Sure, the Terrifier license would be nice to have and Art The Clown would make a fine addition to dbd, they'd have to balance and edit the level of gore it would bring since they would not be able to tune it up to the same level the Terrifier movie itself is at since it'd just get the game banned in some countries.

Yes, the Entity is always looking for new victims, but that also takes energy to do since it has to rip through time and space, going through dimensions, to kidnap a survivor to its realm.

This could lead to an attrition battle between broken survivors and the Entity. If the survivors lose all hope, or stopped playing the Entity's game — there's a small chance it will not be always to keep up with amount of broken survivors compared to hopeful survivors. End result, the Entity will cease to exist, taking all the survivors with it — killing everyone.

As for escaping alive, that's a different story. However, it's totally possible, if you were able to enter the Entity's realm, then there must be an exit. My guess, it will have something to do with the Observer because they are in a pocket dimension that shields them from the sick and twisted games of the Entity.

End result, the Entity will cease to exist, taking all the survivors with it — killing everyone.

Since your theory is based on the idea that the number of Survivors who loses hope would happen more often than the number of Survivors who maintain hope or outweighs the number of new Survivors the entity can manage to abduct, i see a few problems with it.

    • Since we don't really know the full extend of who, what and how the Entity is as a whole, it's possible that even if there were to be a shortage in Survivors to feed upon, the Entity could still have other potential unknown ways or means to sustain itself.
    • Who's to say that it's ability to travel through the multiverse would even require any energy on it's part and that it's powerful enough to do it without using much energy or any at all?
    • Since the Entity has existed for god knows how long now and that time works differently in the fog, if the possibility of it ever starving to death because of a Survivor shortage so serious actually existed, i think it would have already happened and seeing how there still is a seemingly endless number of Survivors both playable and unseen ones who refuses to break down into an empty shell and get cast into the void, i don't think it'll actually ever happen (also if it were to happen and the entity would die, the game would end also.)

My guess, it will have something to do with the Observer because they are in a pocket dimension that shields them from the sick and twisted games of the Entity.

The devs has said in the past that there is currently no known means to escape as of yet. I imagine that the only actual way to really escape is if the Entity decides to cast you out on purpose for whatever reason, however even if there is a means to escape fog without the entity wanting so, then it would probably be something that would break the minds of most people to do, just like how Tomas lost his mind after being cast out of the fog for Talbot to find him in Blight's 2nd tome story.

Also what if the pocket realm isn't actually shielded from the entity? It's stated by the Observer in one of the tome entries that the possibility of the entity having either ignored him on purpose or having simply just been toying with him for all this time.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/352785/so-does-the-entity-have-an-opposing-force

The closest thing I can think of is losing all hope. When you are completely broken and just don't care anymore about escaping, that's the entity's weakness. The entity needs hope to feed off of, but if you aren't hopeful at all, it has no use for you. That's when it sends broken survivors to The Void, which I have limited information about. I believe a survivor named vigo? Not entirely sure who it was, used the blight purge the entity goes through yearly to leave the void.

With that being said, if everyone lost hope, the entity would starve itself to death and potentially even purge them back to their original worlds since it doesn't have enough energy to keep these survivors. Heck, it might kill all the survivors with its death. This is just a theory.

The Entity could never really be starved to death because even if everyone lost hope and was flushed into the void, it can always just find new Survivors from the endless number of worlds within the multiverse to feed upon.

Same thing how Killers who can kill Survivors without a hook doesn't really make much difference for the Entity since the number of trials happening all at once is potentially endless.

  • The entity does not have an enemy who is it's direct equal in power so far, closest we've come to in terms of fighting back is the missing parents of the pariahs with the tools or weapons they were wielding to save Felix and Elodie before disappearing.

  • I just hope it'll be available digitally.

  • ''Identity theft is not a joke, Bubba! Millions of Survivors suffer every year!''

  • Trickster visually could fit being a vampire and maybe get a tombstone cross as a weapon.

Deathslinger could get a van helsing getup with a crossbow skin for the Redeemer.

  • I'm all for doing dlc like the charity case with single piece cosmetics that are references to streamers.

What i definitely ain't for however is bringing in content creators or any irl people regardless of their popularity into the game as legendary skins or as their own individual character.

Can they even get the rights? I am pretty sure illfonic still owns the rights to that for a few more years.

Illfonic doesn't have sole right on anything video game related to the IP.

because for honor does not belong in dbd at all. Killers should always be horror related. For Honor is not horror.

    Cope harder

  • That they're less extinct than the rare and endangered Jonathan mains.

  • I'd be lying if i said that a SH2 remake didn't excite me, however i'd much rather have a SH1 remake instead.

  • Feng chads stay winning.

  • Dreams are meant to be crushed and disappoint, so here's mine.

    1. More focus on 70s, 80s & 90s movie licenses and less on video game licenses.

    2. Pinhead being able to get skins again.

    3. License holders who openly wants their horror IP in dbd or in a video game be given an opportunity to be included in dbd, so franchises like Terrifier, Hack/Slash comic series, Phantasm and Cry of Fear.

    4. Giving every remaining killer custom menu and chase music, giving every remaining and future licensed Survivors and skins custom menu music as well as voice lines.

    5. More legendary skins.

    6. Completing the Realm Beyond.

    7. Bringing more community cosmetics in as well as allowing more countries to participate in the cosmetic contests.

    8. DBD doing like Resident Evil and be featured in many other games in guest appearances.

    9. More tome stories for characters with alot of story left to explore like hag and the remaining legion members.

    10. Dead by Daylight official comic series.

    11. DBD expanding it's brand by branching out into different game genres.

    12. Charms being added to the store

    13. All event tomes becomes permanently available along with it's tome story entries.

    14. New Line cinema stops being difficult and comes to an agreement with the Craven Estate to bring OG Freddy to DBD.

    15. BHVR overtime adding more and more of dbd's oldest chapters to be part of the base game.

    16. Killer powers becoming visually customizable.

    17. Niche IPs getting just as much of a chance to join DBD as bigger IPs are.

    18. DBD one day becoming a household name in gaming.

Chucky/Tiffany, FNAF, or Scooby-doo would be my dream dead by daylight chapters.

I also want them to continue the story of Felix and Elodie, and introduce at least one more character related to them survivor or killer.

I want another set up killer, currently we have hag and trapper. just don't make it as weak as trapper.

Make "the teacher" into a killer

I want a Ship map. Exit gates are life rafts.

And most of all. I want 1 MAP PER CHAPTER. no excuse since they seem to have given up on realm beyond. or at least a map for every licensed character, i understand if they don't want a Hawkins leaving situation again. but still

I also want them to update ALL killer models before pinhead. the skin texture on them is garbage. trickster and spirit are mostly fine.

Nemmy, legion, and twins are the worst offenders. their skin looks like sandpaper and clay

Nemesis, legion and twins can't be the worst offenders when we have someone like myers who looks like he's both outdated, who's body proportion is unnatural and on top of looking like he's made of clay or freddy with his sweater being miscolored.

True, very true. Fortnite can afford it but I doubt BHVR can.

such a shame Disney is buying up all these licenses and doing almost nothing with them

Disney be spending money left and right on everything just for shits and giggles

At this point, if Fortnite were to start pursuing horror IPs, they'd become an actual hall of fame of horror and a much bigger one compared to what dbd could actually get in total of licenses i bet.

    "Xenomorph Before dbd"

This man, this man right here has hope

Maybe just a little, but considering alien is most likely utterly ######### expensive to license and Disney being Disney, it's not a whole lot of hope.

  • Idk man, i think evil dead the game got young ash because it's franchise focused and so they get more money out of it.

As for Fortnite, their money can basically buy any license they want at this point, that's how they got the xenomorph before dbd.

maybe i'm just being cynical about it, but after all these years, i just don't feel like it is likely to happen and thus i'll believe it first when i see it.

  • DBD's halloween license extends to the first movie only sadly.

In response to the Stephen King part:

Wholeheartedly agree. Especially considering the AMOUNT of content he creates alone, I'd be surprised if we never get any sort of content in DBD from him. There's so much diversity in his works even despite the argument that psychic powers are central to the majority of his commonly known works.

I commented on this earlier, but Rose The Hat could be such an amazing addition as Killer, grown Danny Torrence as survivor, and the Overlook Hotel as the map. Just as one idea, but there are so many.

I think the games adaptations of his work that was released back in the 80's scared him away from pursuing any future video game adaptations ever again due to them not doing so well.

Also i genuinely believe Rose the Hat would make a better fit for a killer than Jack ever would, however i don't think the overlook hotel would not make for a good map due to the tightness of the corridors and the sheer size of the hotel itself, and that's not even counting the outside area along with the giant maze.

  • Hopefully nothing related to skins.

  • I wish hooks were tied to the killers instead of the maps.

We could have gotten hook versions for all the killers that are without a map.

  • No, like the previous 2 installments, i'm saving it for the 31th of October.
