Kek- but correct.
Game is fine. I's a horror game not a puppy hug simulator.
i am fine with the other killers i mean leather face wears peoples skins (and then was censored when those face masks were used for other things) but freddy is not culturally sensitive and sends out the wrong representation about dead by daylight to other videogame communities

Just because 2010 Freddy is confirmed to be a pedo doesn't mean he shouldn't be in dbd. He's a fictional characters, its not that deep

It does, for a bit, learning how they work, and experimenting with Perks on them (assuming I have the Perks with which to experiment with, otherwise I get to play the ever exciting game of: "Watch the Bloodweb!" ... sarcasm... )
(Plz BHVR, make Perks unlockable via a Perk related Challenge on the Killer, have gameplay lead directly to gameplay progression instead of gameplay lead to UI drudgery leading to gameplay progression).
Then I realize that now it's back to the same loop of "Hook Survivor till dead, repeat until match end or they escape".
It's not that it's stale... More that it's monotonous? There isn't much buildup for any payoff when playing as Killer. It's why I play Executioner. Leaving Survivors Tormented and not using the cages means that once they're down the third time, I can perform a flourish, something different than just Hooking them. And it's something I need to work towards as well, since Survivors can only be Tormented by my own input (not only that, but placing a Trail of Torment is more distinct from a Chase), so it's not always a guaranteed event.
Edit:
It'd be really nice if there was some kind of state change in the Trial when you get all 4 Survivors Hooked once, so it acts as a kind of Secondary Objective: You can focus on Killing all the Survivors, but something else will occur once you Hook all 4 at least once that may be a better, or simply a different option, than just tunneling this Injured guy off Hook)
you can also use different addon layouts to spice it up like wall of hagatha or matchstick nurse or silent sniper doc

The playtime I have accrued has certainly played a part in my decision to stop playing DBD from oversaturation, but I also think part of it has to do with the overarching Killer gameplay loop of just Chase->Hook being very... uninteresting in effect. There is no spectacle when doing your objective, unless you take joy in the screams of others.
There is a challenge, for sure. But no spectacle like the blaring of the Exit Gates. (Keep in mind I do despise the lack of interactivity of the auto-mori that was presented a while back, with it also being conditional on having a complete victory over 4 other players)
does it help playing a variety of killers? i feel that stops some of the staleness

I'm not sayin this to judge anything but I feel this is kinda mystery.
because i encourage discussion otherwise its off to the feedback and suggestion forum even when the topic isn't feedback or suggestion (case in point i asked why 2010 freddy was in the game because of his lore being so disgusting and it was sent as feedback when i wanted the communities opinions on the topic)

@Phasmamain said:
All this change does is encourage gen rushing because healing takes too much time to bother with
At most people will heal at hook with we’ll make it but otherwise nobody will bother
Get ready for more toolboxes and PT’s
this exactly and with the unhook you have access to dead hard honestly it will be split up on gens til someone goes down rescue quick heal with we'll make it and back to your gens...not much has changed if you are efficient
-
@EmpireCity830 said:
I agree with this. I think this is going to be a big issue and make killer even more annoying than before. This community loves to adapt to new changes. I think the survivors are going to run this build: Resilience, PT, Adrenaline, some 4th perk with strong toolboxes. This is just going to make gen speeds even worse than they are now. PT has been meta for the last few months, why hasn't BHVR even mentioned it?
For me, I feel most of my games get to end game regardless of what role I play. I'm a blight/spirit main but have played more of the other killers lately and can see how weak they are. They just don't have the kit to keep up with gen speeds. I worry about how long the killer playerbase will be around for.
I know we have to wait until the PTB hits to actually see how this will work but I just feel in my soul that what I've said is going to be a reality and I worry about it.
i see an increase in nurse and blight players honestly...other killers are going to struggle vs this new no heal just genrush mentality
-
@Pulsar said:
The healing nerfs ENCOURAGE Survivors to not bother and stick to gens.
Most players aren't comfortable doing that. Casual Survivor players are going to be absolutely massacred by the vast majority of Killers while top-level teams are going to slam gens even more efficiently.
If these changes go through, I'd expect a fair amount of Killer nerfs in the following patches due to a sky-high Kill Rate.
i never understand how survivors aren't comfortable doing gens while injured (even in the worst case a suped up medkit is better than self caring in the corner/injured also means dead hard usage)
this patch doesn't affect efficient swf teams in the slightest

Fix? No. Better? Somewhat. It's at least moving in the right direction.
Nothings being done in the new patch to address the last point though. They just need to let people see their own mmr's, it's an easy fix. MMR/Rank rewards would be a nice bonus touch.
Honestly the grade system being shown but not for matchmaking is just confusing for new players and realistically serves no practical purpose. They should attach mmr to grades. IE something like a 1400 MMR makes you a "green" grade, so the grades represent the MMR.
that would be an awesome idea to show off your improvements as you rise up the ranks

I've no idea and it's hard to say without sounding like an arrogant #########.
I don't think there's any good way to quantify it either, since the MM prioritizes queue times over fairness.
I've played in some tournaments, scrim nights and such things.

Not only that, but The Huntress background story is literally she raiding villages to kidnap little girls to take care of them over and over because "every time, the girls would waste away and die of cold or starvation or sickness". And all this while killing everyone else in the process, including the girls families... I don't know, this seems pretty bad too. Should BHVR remove her from the game, or because she wasn't getting "physical" it is fine?
Now, that is something worthy to discuss in the "Feedback" forum: Where we draw the moral line on the unacceptable horrific and monstrous things a fictional psychopath killer can do? We must figure out at what point should we start opening our Twitter accounts and tweet about it. Think about it! What is the limit before we grab our digital forks and start a new hashtag to cancel Jason Voorhees? We don't know!...
Sorry, but so dumb 🤣

Ahh i now get what you mean. But there is a Character that is kinda "into that" too. In the Resident Evil 2 Remake you can find a "nice Picture" of Rebecca Chambers when she was 17 Years old in Weskers Desk. So Wesker is also too much?
As Batusalen said, we are talking about a fictional Psychopaths that turned into a Demon that hunt People in their Dreams. Sorry, but it's a bit silly to complain.
didnt know about the rebecca chambers pic but that doesn't mean he did anything...2010 freddy was actually worse

Yeah, its pretty much the same story. They toned it down a lot in the actual film but the context is there the entire time and even Wes said that much is the case. He wanted Freddy to be the "worst thing" he could think of. Robert England's Freddy is very much just as disgusting as Jackie Haley.
but it was implied he did what he was accused off(some theories even say he was wrongly accused) as 2010 freddy pretty much confirmed he did it

I guess that Warner Bros (They own Nightmare on Elm Street) was very strict with what BHVR is allowed to do with Freddy. WB is really "protective" when it comes to their franchises and mostly only do Crossovers with Franchises they themself own.
Its impressive that BHVR even could convince WB at all. The original Freddy would be much better, i agree. But hey, at least he's in and he even came with a Survivor and a Map, something that many other iconic Franchises in DbD don't have.
it is just the lore that is unsettling which is why i can't believe this version made it into the game

You just kind of run out of things to do after a while. I started playing a lot less after I got all the perks unlocked when 6.1.0 dropped. Plus there are a lot of other games I want to play and study, DbD is fun but not "spend my life playing it" fun.
You can go on winstreaks or try to master different killers, but playing this game sweaty all the time is not very fun. Sweaty matches are awesome now and again, but not when it's every single game.
There's also getting P100, but that's mostly just a time sink.
There's the archive challenges, but they can usually all be finished in a single play session.
So there is very little late game content, and not much motivation to get better at the game.
Something like "Mastery Challenges" where you can unlock special Archive-esque challenges for having high prestige on a character, and completing them unlocks a special cosmetic. So you could grind out P100 Full Mastery on your favorite characters, and get some drip to show off for it too.
mastery challenges would be nice...they could copy something like injustice 2 legendary quests for each character and make it a fun idea

I think this is what determines a killer main vs a survivor main (or equally both ig), because I've heard streamers like OhTofu say exactly the same thing and I just simply can't relate lol
Playing killer will 1000000% make you better at the game though. You don't have to enjoy it, but learning how the killer works and what their weaknesses are by playing them yourself is the absolute best way of being a better survivor
you really learn so much playing killer that you can apply to survivor especially time efficiency

there is no way you will ever see a 3 or 4 man haste effect with the skull merchant ever(since skull traps destroy themselves after a timer...you at most get 2 people at a time)
it is as rare as getting full value out of thanataphobia (if not plague/or legion and legion is questionable without legion pin)
i get to sniff butts waiting out the dead hards...timed my swings to hit at the end of the animation but yup it is as rare as timing a swing to hit a dead hard finishing through a pallet and then getting stunned afterwards.
basekit borrowed time from the hook to an exit gate is still ridiculous...if there are no hooks due to bad spawns they either crawl out for free or get hooked close to the gate because there is no other option
hooks breaking after a surivor dies on them...why?

The game gets stale and attempts to make it unstale have tended to just make it worse, i.e. the "meta shake-up" that tossed out a bunch of fun and healthy perks and brought in a bunch of frustrating and unhealthy perks.

Hoping for a soft rework for The Twins, giving Victor or Charlotte more flexibility.
Maybe something like a secondary ability button while controlling victor to screech, subconsciously calling Charlotte to your location (moving at like 3.0 m/s or somethin'). Or let it be passive so that the distance that you have to regain once switching back is reduced overall
Or just make victor go wildin' and give him the ability to re-pounce off of walls.
@Veinslay said:
I hope for the Twins rework, you actually can get up to 8 Victors that you can place down on the ground. If a survivor runs into Victor, he grabs them and holds them for a period of time until you come to pick the survivor up and put him on da hook
something like the tricksters trick blades with victor...that would be fun haha
a smaller cool down for switching for charlotte would be nice

So, just to confirm: You want both tombstone add-ons nerfed or deleted, right? Because the Killer should have to either double hook the Survivor or "outplay" individual Survivors several times in a match to be able to kill them?
And lmao THAT'S something that needs to be addressed? Just shove them out. Yeah, teabagging is toxic, same for sitting at the gates... but you're actually on the forums complaining about it. Like, what, do you want the devs to waste resources ejecting Survivors the moment they set foot in the gate? They'll sit just outside the gate instead.
Here, if they're common for you, here's a way to benefit from that: Blood Warden.
And there is a way to concede (albeit not the best). Move to the basement or a corner of the map (or face a wall near the gate) then face the wall. Watch some Youtube and open up the gates if the Survivors refuse to open them. Done.
i just think that they should be changed...an add on that bypassed 3 hook states is seen as ok but the old iri moris off of hooks was seen as bad(which they were and rightfully changed)? I also would like myers to not run out of stalk power and get more stalk if he stalks multiple people at a time.
blood warden doesn't stop them if you don't hook them? I am just holding the devs to their words that they didn't want bullying methods in the game.
as for your last point what if the survivors don't do the gens? wait the hour until the server is done?

I too find killer more stressful than it's worth, but as you play more and more you become more "zen" (or at least if you let yourself be, you will) and the games become more interesting and less stressful. I got my feng to P100 just few days ago and killers dodge a lot especially if there is also other high prestiges. If you want fair match actually best thing is to switch last second when killer can't dodge as otherwise killers would just keep dodging and just ramdom baby killer is put agains't us or very sweaty killer and the match then is blow out instead it could been balanced.
But for skill level I think prestige at least shows that player is experienced and should know what he is doing. And usually P100 survivors are better loopers than you're average joe. And if not they definetely can gen rush. I would say personally im above average survivor better at looping than most.
see but what is to stop that killer from assuming that the last minute switch is to troll them? the killer can still dc before the game starts

I dodge lobby as killer if survivors are low level and have no items because that's mostly a SWF team in disguise. Then dodge if I see toolboxes, mekits or high level players. Had the game for years and have still not played a single game only been lobby dodging.
Ok that was a joke but my point is if you dodge a lobby a lot of the times you think the match will be more easy when it's the opposite. Yeah killers wants to avoid SWFs and solos like me I dodge when I see these PC players with very childish gamertags I don't want to play with or against these kind of people.

Look at it from the survivor point of view too
If a killer wins entirely cause of noed. Should he get weaker survivors, or stronger ones who can deal with noed?
If you made the killer lose mmr when he only wins by killing everyone with noed eventually you'll get a mmr range where there are nothing but noed players and survivors who can't deal with it.
Same with camping, tunneling and any other cheese strat. If a killer wins with these they should go up in rating untill they face people who can deal with it. Regardless of how much "skill" it took
The problem is that many people look at mmr as a system that tells you how good you are while it's just a matchmaking system, nothing more and nothing less. It's a problem the devs kinda created themself by calling it skill based matchmaking first
There is more to matchmaking then skill. A killer who has a 12 hook game with the first dead on 9 hooks should get stronger survivors cause they won so decisively.
A killer that gets a 4k with 4 hooks and camping every one also should get stronger opponents or else they can win every match by camping and never lose
People are too blinded by the word skill, your mmr going up doesn't always mean it's cause of skill and it's not a reward or punishment. Also one of the reasons you can't see your number, cause it really shouldn't matter
fair points on all of these thanks for your input ^_^...it explains why kills/escapes are used more than hooks

for survivor it was Dwight at first but then I switched to Elodie simply because I think she’s the hottest survivor and her lore is also pretty cool.

Dead by Daylight sells itself as a game where you can play the big bad horror monster man and kill people. Not a lot of games offer that experience, so new players buy into it thinking they're going to be tough and intimidating and have fun running around stabbing people with a machete, while the survivors are helpless lemmings who have to scrape their way through their disadvantages to win.
This is not true, but that's how it looks from the outside looking in. Then they get in and learn what it's really like.

I've had enough of those matches to know I get tunneled out first thing because I'm the only one the killer sees and those Claudettes will never, ever leave their bushes to take aggro. No thanks. I'll also dodge a lobby if someone thinks it's cutesy to switch to my exact character and outfit.
it is getting to the point that we are bleeding the new player base and they won't stick around(we still should have had the numbers from the first resident evil dlc but that dwindled).
DbD hasn't kept new players for a long time. New customers pop up for the licensed DLC and leave because the asymmetrical gameplay isn't to their liking. There's not a big market for asymmetrical games, most people aren't going to enjoy this gameplay loop. Hell, a lot of the long-time players kind of hate the gameplay loop.
DbD was never going to keep the majority of people who came over for the Resident Evil DLC. The Stranger Things DLC had a better chance for retaining new players, and in that case the bad matchmaking actually did chase a lot of them away. I remember an influx of forum posts from new Stranger Things players who liked DbD and wanted to play but were miserable about the bad matchmaking. With the Resident Evil DLC, I saw more talk outside the forums where the Resident Evil fans just did not enjoy DbD at all and there was a lot of buyer's remorse; matchmaking wasn't talked about as much as other elements.
in fairness the resident evil dlc was very buggy when it first came out which might have led to buyer's remorse. it is just a worrying trend.
Honestly at this point all that is left is to give out the game as a gwg for xbox players (ps players already got this one month/epic games as well) or maybe even go to a free to play model and make money off of cosmetics

There are a multitude of reasons why someone may dodge a lobby that have nothing to do with just "wanting an easier game" as @Pulsar and others have said. If you really wanna see mine you can look them up in his other thread where I posted several.
The games MMR is very flawed and barely works at any given time anyways, mostly because it is based on a flawed concept to begin with, but also because it doesnt consider many things it should at its base level and prioritizing queue times over quality matchmaking is problematic and a better middle ground needs to be found to achieve a better result.
what things do you think mmr should include at base level?

I don't know why ...
People are not afraid of losing.
Most of us get that lose/failure is a developmental step, so its best to fail. And fail a lot.
Or Lose if you prefer that word.
Adversity and challenge make you better. Complaining on the forum to nerf a thing, makes you worse.
it does get tiring to get a lot of higher mmr matches in a row after a while though

Do you actually envision a situation where mid-lower high MMR killers are responsible for dumping teams on new killers and driving them from the game?
Do you really think this is actually a player issue?
Do you honestly think it can be solved via the tactics that have failed to solve tunneling and camping as in soft shamming killers to step up to your expectations?
...
...
So, anyways. In an attempt to be serious.
This is a gameplay issue, The player you are implying should be forced to play, does not want to play the match. For reasons. Address those reasons and progress can be made on solving this issue.

Killers just like to cherrypick their lobbies. They want the easiest lobby, at best 4 Solos with under 500 hours each.
I mean, there is a Killer Main-Streamer with 13k hours and this person is also lobbydodging quite a lot. With 13k hours, even as Nurse with a strong Build.
It is not only new Killer players who dodge. But since Killers think that playing in an SWF turns 4 Potatoes into a tournament squad, they dodge SWFs...
Even tho, the main benefit of SWF is not communication, it is to filter out bad Survivors. THis goes for the really good SWFs, but should not be a thing for casual SWFs, since those also consist of bad players. And those casual SWFs are probably 99% of SWFs you will encounter.
And when it comes to a good SWF.. Those would probably beat the Killer when they are all Solo.
In general, all names and profiles should be hidden in the Lobby. Gameplay-wise there is 0 reason to show them. And I highly dislike Killers cherrypicking their Lobby until they find one which is easy enough for them. But since Dedicated Servers the Survivors dont get kicked out of the Lobby anymore, so I dont care that much anymore. It is just sad that players go through so many Lobbies for the most stupid reasons you can imagine, but whatever, if they like...
it is understandable if the person just wants a chill game...mmr kind of screwed things up in that regard

The problem with that is looking at mmr from a single match. Mmr looks at all your matches.
1 hooked with noed might be the same as 3 hooks normally (might not, we don't know. I think i heard them mention time was also a factor) but in a avarage of 100 matches the person going for hooks is going to get more then the person relying on a hex totem that shows it's aura to survivors.
One match means very little
but i mean if a killer only seems to get noed kills without hooks then they get boosted up the mmr ranks...it isn't exactly because the killer was stomping the team out based on skill
