I wouldn't be surprised if part of that was just because it only covered one license, and a dated one at that. Everyone's big on the 80s nostalgia but I wonder how many people are still actively fans of Friday the 13th as a whole and would appreciate the game for all of the throwbacks it has to offer. Something like DBD covers more ground in that regard by having multiple licenses, including truly dead yet beloved ones like Silent Hill.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2382544#Comment_2382544
Capcom honestly killed RE:sistance on their own. They locked the release behind RE:3 which was the first mistake, and the second was that they didn't implement any sort of anti-cheat since this sort of genre is out of their element. They have a horrible track record with keeping up to date on their releases too and adding new content over time. RE:sistance did pretty well with that for a while, but it seems like it fizzled out pretty quickly. The game itself could've done better in more competent hands. But now they're moving on to a new online title like always, and that'll have the same fate most likely.
But like you said, DBD already has a devoted player base, so it would take a lot to not only gain players' interest but to also win that devotion over as well.
Why the hate on Capcom? Capcom has one of the most successful online franchises, Monster Hunter.

This game has always had matchmaking problems. It's the biggest source of complaints for this game.
-
More like the midwife forgot to deliver the baby.
A game like this absolutely should not have modding and BHVR is actually correct in patching out all means of modding the game.
-
I think you need to start doing endgame builds.
Use NoEd, Blood Warden, Remember Me, and one other perk of your choice. Then pretend you are an AFK killer by running a macro on your LMB.
When the gens are almost done or when one of the survivors find you and starts dancing in front of you and flickig your face wtih a flashlight, whack him hard, put him on the hook, then mop up the rest of the peons.

I just wish they went back to night time.
This game in general needs to get a little darker. They keep brightening it up way too much. I can understand making it easier to see in the dark maps like Haddonfield, but come on Coldwind Farm went way too far in the other direction. Making it a nighttime map would improve its playability drastically.
-
These matches finish in 10 minutes or so for me.
But I generally do not like the map, even as Survivor. It's probably a nightmare for most killers. Maybe when we get used to it it'll be better, but right now I even have trouble finding the basement, and I must find the basement I need my chest.
-
Both are good but I hate using them. I don't use Exhaustion perks in general. The only one I liked was Balanced Landing, and that was before the nerf, and I didn't use it for the Exhaustion part. I will sometimes use Lithe in a QQ/Dance build and Head On in a QQ Deception Build, but otherwise I don't bother with these perks, just not my style.
-
Franklins isn't a powerful perk. It's an annoying perk.
-
As a survivor main, I used to like the Coldwind maps because they were kind of survivor-sided. After the rework I just hate them, not because they got better for killer or anything of the sort, it just hurts my eyes. And goddamn totems are invisible on these maps.

Pretty much no killer benefits from the gigantic field of corn except maybe Spirit and Wraith.
Nemesis actually benefits.
Those zombies come out of nowhere in the corn.
Also this map sucks hard for Survivors when killer runs Ruin Undying Noed.
-
And sadly it's not "holding the game hostage" so it's perfectly fine to do it.
-
I got sick of worrying if the killer could see my aura so I stopped going into lockers when someone gets downed, stopped getting closer to killer when someone is picked up, started healing in terror radius, kept doing gens together with other survivors, didn't care if killer could see me if I cleansed totems, didn't care if I go down the basement, etc.
These perks are actually good for the game and BHVR should make more of them. It actually pissed me off when they nerfed some of them like how they nerfed Deception to not work with QQ.

If you have time to heal yourself, killer is not tunnelling you lol
That's nonsense.
Wraith can tunnel you without you knowing so the moment you heal he goes in for the kill.
-
@PanicSquid said:
In short: If you're trying to heal yourself, you're not being tunneled.
It turns off when you begin to take any action that progresses the game. You can still heal through Second Wind or by entering a locker with Inner Strength, assuming you met the conditions for those to be ready, or by being healed by a teammate. There are options to heal while having DS up, or you can choose to forgo the DS in favor of healing yourself.
You've obviously never fought a cloaking tunneling killer that can get close to you with you not noticing after you run off a bit to heal.

DS was OP, and needed nerfed, but unfortunately the nerf made the game much less healthy. Tunnelling and camping has skyrocketed.
They nerfed it the wrong way.
I agree there's definitely been an uptick in tunnelers. Nobody respects DS anymore you can't even mindgame with it anymore. Given the increase in sweaty Wraith players and the DS nerf, it's been tunnel galore.

I don't think the DS change affected the amount of campers or tunnelers. It only feels like more killers are tunneling because survivors have 1 less second chance perk.
No. I don't even use DS. I definitely noticed the increase in tunnelers. Wraith players especially take advantage of the new DS mechanics to take out a DS-using player they are tunneling.
I still see lots of people take DS because they want to avoid the tunnel, but I see tons of killers tunneling now especially wraiths.

First i have to say, i never heard him before this forum. He is not popular like star slashers. But so many people wanna him in game. And so many people said i have to watch him movies. And i watched him first movie. It was pretty fun, i will give that. Helen was so cute, i really would glad if she join game as survivor. And if Candyman come to DbD, i am sure he will fit in game.
But...
But i don't think he will be unique killer. I don't know how can he be interesting killer in game. Teleporting with mirrors maybe? And also he is copy of Bloody Mary, is not he? Because him power is working like Bloody Mary.
Yeah Candyman is basically Bloody Mary. His movie was pretty good though I was scared out of my boxers with that movie when I was a kid.

Shaggy's Perk would be Ultra Instinct
Ultra Instinct
Shaggy kills the entity. All Killers are deleted from existence. You win.
-
Survivor Main here.
I don't use DS so I don't care what they do with it. Personally I rather they just delete it from the game so Killer Mains can stop complaining about it.

Something I've noticed particularly since Blight's changes, particularly where he became more compatible with console, is basically the same three perks, same playstyle, and so on. Always ruin undying tinkerer, fourth perk is bbq or another slowdown. As of late, I've noticed really sweaty add ons like alchemist ring or something like that accompanied with it, and sometimes even map offerings to tilt in their favour. Basically, a full-on sweat built, and there is almost no variation. They tend to show poor ability to get hits with their rushes, never use their power at loops but just for transportation, and play the rest of the game like an M1 killer unless it's a really open space that can guarantee a hit with a rush. And basically a hit-and-run playstyle where they play ping pong between Tinkerer procs until they gradually get downs over time.
What I don't understand is why it's always this one build and there is no variation. I never see Corrupt Pop or anything else. For a strong killer like Blight, Undying and Ruin is unnecessary for a majority of games in order to win and using these perks is basically the game is playing itself. For killers like Twins for example, ruin undying makes sense; the only way to really win with them is to slug heavy which means little to no Pop usages. Pyramid Head's power makes Pop not the best choice to use either as it makes you conflicted on whether or not to use your power. But for Blight, there's really no reason as there are no compatibility issues, and particularly no reason why everyone is running the same build. I've never seen so many people play a particular killer and be this unoriginal with builds with them before. In red ranks when I see Spirits, Nurses, Freddy's even and so on, I never see this high saturation of sweat-lord builds like I have with Blight builds and there's always some sort of variation
I'm speaking from my perspective as this is my opinion obviously, but there comes a certain point where using certain slowdowns on killers just becomes cringey to me. Like using that same build on Freddy is so painfully boring since the game just plays itself and there's nothing fun about it in any regard. If I have such
Also note:
1) Before anyone comes in with the usual "people can run what they want if you don't like it you shouldn't be playing the game" -- people can run what they want, but likewise people can comment on what they want. They can enjoy a game overall and simply not like aspects of it, and they are also allowed to critique another player's decision.
2) Also I don't care if this topic has been discussed either
Meta Killers like Blight attract sweaty players who just want to win and 4K every time. So they always all use the same meta perks and add-ons over and over to consistently get as many wins as possible.
Throughout DBD's history there's always a group of people playing the sweatiest meta builds, the killer they use changes as balance changes but they're basically the same people each time. Once upon a time they were all doing Billy, then they shifted to Legion, then to Nurse, then to Spirit, then to Freddy, then to Oni, then to Blight, then to Wraith, etc. (I don't have the chronology perfect but these killer metas did happen)
Depends on who just got the latest big buff.

Well, Trickster's 1v1 is actually really good. He can down any survivor with relative ease and the upcoming buffs will make his 1v1 even stronger.
Trickster's 4v1 sucks because he's slow and he has to reload at lockers. This is the main reason why Tricksters can still be defeated by decent teams.
Trickster is bad at 1v1. He is only good if he manages to catch you in a wide open area with no cover. Otherwise he is easily one of the weakest killers in the game.

So just random thought how would you make Haddonfield fair for both sides so it's not extremely survivor sided like it is and not to killer sided if it gets a re-work I know most people would say remove the vaults and all that but other then that any other ideas that aren't disable the map.
Vaults aren't what make Haddonfield survivor-sided.

I remember this manga it's called Uzumaki.
-
Probably a bug. I've had some weird stuff happen in this game.
The weirdest one was where a Trapper picked me up and I was permanently stuck on his shoulder.
He even went around the entire gaming carrying and picked up other survivors and hung them on hooks while I was still on him.
When I was the last one left we couldn't finish the game and he just DC'd.

My comments about doctor are pretty biased, becuase I play a lot of survivor, but I will agree with you about killer perks. I forgot to mention that killers, for the most part, are forced to run meta perks because of their powers not being comparable to nurse or spirit. The point of *pointing out* survivor perks was to show that there's no way to run a fun build without getting destroyed. And the same goes for killer.
I'm a rank 1 survivor and I never run meta builds. The only meta perk I use is Iron Will. I usually play with Plunderer and Appraisal and Ace in the Hole, which means I am actively sabotaging my team by not genrushing because I'm busy opening chests.
Despite this me and my team of PUGs and Randos don't get "destroyed" against sweaty killers running meta builds and strong killers like Blight, Wraith or Deathslinger.
To be honest I barely see Nurse and Spirit these days. Hardly anyone uses them anymore. They're still strong in the right hands but for whatever reason I barely see them. There are other stronger killers than them these days, a perfect Nurse is still strongest but there are hardly any perfect nurse players out there.
All that said I disagree with you and this game has many problems and you spelled out most of them, and BHVR as a developer needs to get its game together it's like they seriously have no clue what they are doing.
But I don't know what's up with your Prove Thyself, there is no way you can finish a gen in 15 seconds from zero even with Prove Thyself. Maybe the two of you were using BNP on engineer toolboxes and were using No Mither and Resilience.
-
They were stealth nerfed a long time ago when BHVR changed from the previous version of Unreal Engine to the current engine version build.
The fog mechanics were severely nerfed and basically the offerings don't do jack. They weren't that big a deal in the past but at least before if you stacked Murky Reagents the smoke got really thick. It wasn't as big a deal as you would think and killer could still see you easy, and you could still see Myers or Pig sneaking around without much problem.
But when they did the big engine overhaul to the new version of UE they changed the fog mechanics completely and it resulted in what you see today. Reagent offerings have been useless for like the last two years or so. Just another one of the many, many things that BHVR did that completely killed the game's atmosphere.

Why is there no competition? Is it our fault that dbd is this way? Or is it the Behaviours fault? Cannot say for sure, but as far what I have seen and heard. I think I may have the answer. You see, I have only been playing dbd since Pyramid Head came out. And for what I heard and seen, people have complained how bs certain Killers are. And has even complained about how Nemesis's Zombies have high awareness of Survivors location. Since the ptb, they we're way better. And what about the other Killers? Many of us including me has complained about the other Killers as well. And since now I look back, this could be our fault why many Killers are not very good and not fit for competitive play. And for that, this could be mean that all survivors want is the game to be "easy". And now that I put this in, it makes go, what the hell people. What will be the point of competitive play, if you just complain about a Killers best ability to catch survivors, then it will just result that Killer to be not as good as they used to. Like The Hillbilly, Nemesis, Pyramid Head, Freddy Krueger, and many more. The devs we're nice enough to nerf these Killers for us, and did we take that for granted?.. No. We still complain about certain Killers to this day, asking them to be nerfed or buffed. This is all our fault that dbd has no competition to it anymore as it used to due to our complaints.
Remember, this a theory and from what I see in my perspective. It might be true, it might not. It all depends what happens to Dead by Daylight in the future.
By No Competition I am assuming you are referring to how Killer vs. Survivor is "no competition" meaning it is too easy for one side and hopeless for the other.
That's a load of baloney.
Both sides are equally powerful and it's a stiff competitive match usually. The problem is matching up the skill levels of the players. A good killer player will stomp a clueless survivor team, and a good survivor team will stomp a less-skilled killer. The problem with this game has always been matchmaking and BHVR has consistently been bad at fixing the matchmaking problems of this game.
-
Definitely a high risk high reward thing, but I think mechanics like this shouldn't be in the game. There are matches where ruin and undying blows up immediately within a minute, and matches where the survivors have been running around for ten minutes and couldn't find the last totem.
They create bad lopsided matches which really aren't fun for the survivors, and hinder the growth of killers. Or matches which are not fun for killers and make them want to rage quit, and all of it is based on RNG. Bad mechanics frankly and not good for the game.
-
Undying isn't necessary but helps keep Ruin up all game long. Having Ruin up all game long is a gigantic disadvantage for survivors, especially if the killer knows what he's doing.
That said I usually consider killers running both Ruin and Undying to be newbs who can't get any kills any other way and have to rely on crutches like this. It's funny because if you ever do fight them and manage to blow both totems up relatively fast they always rage quit. That tells you a lot.
Good killers don't need Ruin/Undying, don't even need Ruin, but whatever works for you.
-
The only survivor I want is Scooby Doo.
-
I hope not. It would ruin whatever little atmosphere the game has left.
-
Killer in general is harder. Survivor in general is more rage-inducing.

What about at god pallets?
God pallets aren't invincible. Once it's down the loop is done.
If you can't catch a survivor that is always on you and your skill. Killers are meant to catch survivors and the game is weighted in the killer's favor when it comes to chases. It takes a huge gap in skill to consistently outclass a killer in a chase for more than a minute.
-
@ringwinning said:
I've had three matches today where I've led the killer around on a chase for a few minutes and then they DC. Do y'all think that this is the same level of frustration that survivors feel when we get tunneled? If you're a veteran killer, do you sometimes just go "nah" and eat the 5min penalty?
I've never personally quit because of a chase but I'm just curious because it's happened a lot lately, considering DC penalty has been off.
Only baby killers do that. Veteran killers will have downed you, if not they switched to an easier target after 30 seconds.
-
Nemesis is great at gen camping. And he doesn't even need to do anything or even be near a gen to do it.
I swear the number of times I've had a zombie camp a gen.....
-
The DC situation is a lot better today compared to how it was a few years back when we did have DC penalties. Today I will normally get 1 DC in around 3 days of play. 2 if I'm lucky. And the killer will DC if I'm really lucky. A couple of years back you'd get a DC practically every match.
I'd say they are largely unnecessary, and I'm saying this as someone who has never DC'd in this game for any reason.
If you had to ask me what made the difference is a change in game balance to make the game less frustrating for both sides.

I even have some recordings of my own on PC, but it is just me getting low frames... on low graphics...
But my PC is not bad either which shows how bad it is. While the game freezing doesn't happen on PC, it just runs poorly and gives us low framerates. It isn't just consoles either, it's all platforms.
Specs:
- Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-9750H CPU @ 2.60GHz 2.59 GHz
- 16.0 GB (15.8 GB usable)
- GTX1660 ti max Q
macmillian and autohaven in particular, but sometimes in the other maps as well. All maps actually.Update: It has gotten pretty bad now, frame drops are now much more frequent and I am starting to experience freezing every once in a while. My PC may not be god-tier, but it is still pretty good (at least I am pretty sure it is, not exactly a savant in tech). I shouldn't even be experiencing this, no one should. What is the point of bringing out new content if your game doesn't even work properly for most of the playerbase?
How are you getting bad performance?
Your PC is better than mine but I hit 90-120fps consistently throughout the game no matter what map.
* Ryzen 3 2200G
* GTX 1660 Super
* 90-120fps everywhere at all times while streaming
Stuttering does happen every now and then but they are very small microstutters that only take a fraction of a second.

Eruption is a freaking headache to play against as Survivor.
Eruption + Surge + Oppression + PGTW makes me want to just DC.

@Stinde said:
Reason 1: Majority of PS4 player base (which is almost as big as PC player base) plays survivor and since PS4 is literally unplayable right now (as are XBOX and Switch) there is not enough survivors.
Reason 2: Some survivors play almost exclusively killer during the event because of more BP.
Reason 3: RE chapter brought a lot of new players and everyone wants to play Nemesis.
Reason #1 makes no sense, if more people are playing Survivor then survivor queues get longer and killer queue gets faster.
Reason #3 was true maybe a month ago. Today Nemesis is uncommon, not barely seen like Hag or Billy but hardly "everyone wants to play him." Most common killer right now is Wraith.
-
Will probably end when event is over.
A lot of people are probably doing Killer Tome quests, and the BP is super lucrative right now on killer thanks to all the cake going around.
-
I don't know this.
I have no problems with lag, freezing or bugs outside of the usual silly bugs.
I think you people have potato PCs or something, if you're having performance issues. My PC is pretty bad and old but I have no problems. You guys are probably playing on laptops or something.

New billy is soo bad. You can still curve but only dumb survivors fall for it. Old billy was much better. New billy is soo easy to block and bait. Hes actually better than bubba, but he requires addons to do so.
This ship already sailed like a year ago. I forget.
I'm happy Billy is gone, though. Old Billy was too easy to use and too powerful at the same time. He wasn't unbeatable but he would easily wreck most survivor teams in an instant especially with his add-ons. You'd need a fully-coordinated SWF to really deal with him. He wasn't healthy for the game.
@Haddix said:
Idk about anyone else, but I'd rather have old Billy that had access to instasaw than the Billy now, because at least people ######### played Billy back then. I see Billy one in every 50 games, and there's a very slim chance it'll actually be a good Billy and not a frosty-eye NOED M1lly that doesn't know he has a chainsaw in his right hand. Out of every killer, he was the least deserving of the treatment they gave him.
and I rarely played him pre-nerf, btw. Likely around 5-10 times. I'm speaking from the survivor perspective lol.
Eh, Billy wasn't as prolific as Spirit at the time, but was more common than Nurse. Pre-nerf I'd get a Billy maybe once every 5 games. He was a commonly-used killer. If you only ever played him 10 times you can't have been playing long.
-
Today? Wraith for sure.
All the sweaty Freddy mains switched over to Wraith. Wraith is absolutely the worst killer to go up against right now 90% of them are super sweaty. And a lot of players are playing Wraith.
The old holdovers are still all sweaty: Nurse, Spirit, Deathslinger. These guys are all sweaty, but there's a lot less of them.
Wraith still has a lot of sweaty players. Although less frequently now ever since the recent nerf. But still sweaty as heck.
-
Nurse is harder.
Spirit is significantly easier to use. You can get up and killing with Spirit in ten seconds. Nurse needs like ten days to get good wit her.
Spirit at the end of the day is just like any other killer. All the M1 skills you learned with everyone else translates directly to her. With Nurse you literally need to learn a new way of playing that is unique to her and isn't exactly easy to learn.
How is this even a question.
-
Vigil needs a serious rework. The concept always struck me as you're supposed to be watching over a teammate to help them recover from a condition.
It's not meant to be a personal exhaustion recovery peek.
Would like to see a rework where it gets rid of all the conditions by staying within radius of the guy with vigilance for x seconds depending on tier.
Ability effects like plague puke or Legion Deep wounds shouldn't be affected but everything else peek based should be healed like Sloppy Butcher.
-
Same reason killer mains complain so much about looping. They are bad at countering it.
