You can't outright prevent camping, tunnelling or slugging, because at certain times they can be valid tactics, and anything that outright prevents it could easily be abused by survivors.
All "anti-x" perks are meant to dissuade that tactic and encourage another one.
Killer perks do a better job at this than survivor perks ever will. Like BBQ and Devour Hope. They need to make more strong killer perks that make it more beneficial to the killer to not do these things.
Survivor perks as you rightly say punish the killer. They're a stick instead of a carrot. The problem with a stick is that the threat of it is more powerful than actually using it. Once DS is spent, that threat is gone. So things like DS need to have multiple charges to be effective.
I agree, but with the precedent set by DS' new description (and probably deathbound), I think the devs have abandoned brevity in favor of specificity. They probably could get away with making a very specific perk, although those really situational perks that serve to counter one possible gameplay style might as well be incorporated into the basekit in some form.

This is know
but 12 billy since nerf that was what almost a year ago now.
rarely see any forums pfp of Billy (also a small majority of players) most clips of people playing billy are either sniper which is on the surivor not playing attention or they are getting looped with occasionally flicks.
So please if theres like a secret billy fan club point me there
Again. What you see does not reflect killer pick rates. This does a much better job at that:

Yeah I like where they are going with Dweet's new model. They just need to give him some of his defining traits like his nervous facial expression, and those wide puppy dog eyes.
They probably got sick and tired of femboy kitten Dwight fanfiction and put their foot down (on his face)
-
He's definitely changed, so he doesn't look like old Dwight, but that doesn't mean he's awful, he's just different.
-
Because it would interfere with game mechanics. It would make it possible to corral survivors into a corner to hold the game hostage, but more than that, it would make the game just plain wonky.

Then where are they I've seen 12 Billy's since nerf
You're one player in a sea of thousands per server network in a sea of hundreds of server networks. Don't be surprised if what you see doesn't reflect the entire game.

Like myself, the majority of people here, and many streamers said billy has become very weak and unpleasant to play. The reasons why,are all written in the above posts here perfectly. By the way someone on those forums posted a pic with the pick rates in red ranks so you can see by yourself
Again, you don't know that for sure because there's never been an actual review on it. The stats that the devs provide are reflections of the game in 2019 and in 2020 (around Descend Beyond era), so there are plenty of other factors that have changed since then.

again, I'm just parroting the mods here.
you need a full-on dissertation on ethics to navigate what's acceptable and what's crossing the line in a game like DBD. I just wish they made it so that you don't *have to* crush Victor.

You have to analyze the pick rate of Billy if you're going to claim that nobody's playing Billy anymore because he's just that broken now.

You call Victor a baby and kicking Victor to death is part of gameplay when going against the Twins.
See the problem?
I understand that there are limits, but a game that is explicitly about murder is going to have a hard time finding qualms about kicking a baby.

These are the official dead by daylight forums,so that means every player comes here to address some issues about the game or to report bugs etc. You can find here hundreds of angry posts and discussions complaining about hillbilly after his massive nerfs.
No, not every player comes here, and not every player talks evenly. There are certain actors here who are much louder than others, and there are more than "hundreds of angry" players in DBD.

Because you can't prevent another player from making the choice to camp or tunnel you.
DS and BT do their jobs well and give the survivor a 2nd chance to escape a tunneling or camping killer.
There's nothing more that can be done besides offering the 2nd chance.
Sure you can. It goes:
- identify your assailant
- call 911
- testify at their trial.
DS, as elaborated above, is a one-time slap for tunneling. Tunneling isn't a one-time occasion. BT, as elaborated above, requires you to be unhooked. Camping actively makes it difficult to unhook. They don't actually address the questionable playstyles.

It's hard to strike a balance for sure, because you could make just one small tweak and it would completely shift things
Imagine if unhooked survivors had something like a two second grace period after being unhooked, similar to the small invincibility shield survivors get after being revived in HSHS if you've ever seen it. That seems like such a small change but it would hurt killer so much
Well there's always going to be nuance to things. If they can stuff that much text into DS, I don't think it'll hurt to tailor an "anti-x y and z" perk (assuming it won't be basekit, anyways).
-
I won't ever be satisfied until we get our shirtless skin

@Crowman said:

If a killer wants to keep chasing you after you got unhooked, no amount of perks or teammates body blocking is going to stop him. This isn't a perk issue.
DS is fine. Killers who want you out of the game will do so regardless.
That's not what I'm talking about. All I'm saying that is DS and BT don't actively prevent a tunnel or a camp, only give a small slap on the wrist for them.
-
@Brokenbones said:
I struggle to see perks that actively stop a killer from doing a certain thing because it's usually the killer who decides the flow of a match (Not saying they have complete control, but rather survivors respond to what the killer does)
Think about it, in order for DS to be considered an 'anti-tunnel' perk, you need to actually be tunnelled right? When does that happen? Usually after you've been caught and hooked once already, which is where the perk comes in. It's a safety net in case you get tunnelled.
I'm curious, what form would an actual 'anti-tunnel' perk be by your definition? A perk that punishes killers for consistantly chasing the same survivor all game? I can't really see it but maybe you have ideas I'm not aware of
Something like off the record (conceptually, I'm not saying OTR is good) is somewhat like where I'm getting at. It prevents the killer from being able to tunnel you (for like 5 seconds). If you get tunneled straight out of a facecamp, giving DS a much, much longer stun or having it proc multiple times can make the punishment so aggressive that it'll literally destroy the killer (as in gauge an eye out or break a rib), especially now that they narrowed down the activation requirements.
-
@Crowman said:
You can't really stop another player from tunneling or camping without getting to a point where you create situations of where survivors are actually invulnerable which isn't fair.
Anti-Tunneling/Camping perks work by making it take longer for your opponent to succeed.
BT prevents a camping killer from instantly downing you and giving you time to reach safety.
DS gives you another chance at leading the killer on a chase giving your teammates more time to do gens.
Right, but my point is that most of these hope that the punishment for action x, y, and z will be so great that it discourages those actions after the fact, but they aren't great enough to prevent said actions.

you can look by yourself on these forums or watch former billy main vids. look the post above me thats says he switched to bubba due to the big billy nerfs, you will see many posts like this here. Ask yourself why billies are something rarer than mewtwo
Looking on the forums and counting games is not a consistent indication of anything. I play rank 5 when I do play survivor and the distribution of killers ebbs and flows every day. That's basic statistics 101.

The overheat mechanic does nothing but HURT good Billys who didn't sit at hook with their chainsaw 99ed. Newer players will not play him at all when you can play a killer that aims his M1 for you. If you are half decent you will be using your chainsaw 90% of the time, 10% they are vaulting a window or pallet and you can sneak a m1 in.
All the "skilled Billys" quit. They didn't adapt to a dumpster fire of a killer, they switched to Nurse/Spirit/Freddy in public games. Those who did "adapt" did so purely for the nostalgia and the sheer amount of time they invested into this killer. He has a higher skill cap for less reward.
The good Billies were good enough that they never had to worry about hitting overheat. They regulated when they could use their chainsaw, and those who could hit chainsaws accurately saw no change. Plus, we don't have actual stats on the number and kill rates of Billy pre and post rework, which was also affected by the add-ons changes so it's even harder to tell.
-

Most skilled billies have moved to other strong killers or stopped playing. You feel the overheat 100%,and the ones thats says otherwise are lying.
Right, do you want to back that up with anything?

Don't fall into the idolatry trap. Even Otz himself says take things with a grain of salt.
The overheat mechanic does practically nothing to a good Billy. It regulates how often you can use your chainsaw, but if you're half decent, you won't be spamming it 24/7. Newer players are going to feel the sting, while skilled Billies have adapted and done just fine.

Make sure you are exactly on top of the survivor; same ground level. The game won't allow you to pick up if you're slightly above or below them.

No, a lot of us are really wondering what actually goes on at this 600 Employee company. This is literally their only game but it's always going to be one thin thread being pulled to destroy it type deal. I honestly cannot see how their balance testing employees still have a job right now.
I doubt they even have balance testing employees. They do PTBs for a reason.

Aesthetically, it's supposed to be a very bleak sunlight-esque look (it's really hard to describe, think like the aesthetic of those zombie shows that take place during the day).
Obviously the devs were trying to make coldwind an op map, everybody's dead by daylight so just spawning in on coldwind kills everybody, I don't see what's so hard to get.
-
@piggygooik said:
Why do the devs mainly balance around these things. it's mainly kill rates tho.
if they are not tell me why Freddy was nerfed ( rather poorly I might add) and billy, billy for god sake, a killer that basically everyone said was balanced. all billy needed was addon changes, but no apparently he was overperforming. you guys nerfed him so bad to where Otz put him in C tier.
please stop going off of only killer rates and low-rank survivor and killer complaints. its kinda obvious that you guys really liked to use kill rates this upcoming midchapter since you nerf the twins as well as demo lunge. we had to bully u guys to buff demos lunge for god sake. and why twins ya they are strong but still if this 5 sec cooldown ( A WHOLE ENTIRE DS ) on HIT attacks. the new twins nerf is punishing you for using your ability. just think if you successfully down someone with your power as bubba you have to go through a DS stun. that is so unnecessary.
They really don't. Nurse hasn't gotten buffs and Pig hasn't gotten nerfs. Don't postulate beyond what you know; you aren't BHVR.
-
It's annoying. It's not all that powerful, but it feels really, really annoying. So people inflate it to resolve the cognitive dissonance of hey, on one hand, this perk doesn't actually break the game, on the other hand, it's just really boring to play against. Plus, the threat of DH can remove your ability to lunge, which kind of keeps you paranoid.
-
FPS drops as a result of perks is a problem on your end. If you're playing on console it doesn't help.

The thing is that killer diversity is more of a boon for us, since we have a wider array of playstyles to choose. Not to mention that it's easier for killers to get bloodpoints and BBQ far outclasses WGLF.
-
Plague. I've been spit on enough to know that it won't kill you
-
It's a really inefficient idea, but gives you more coverage. Lithe enables you to turn nearby windows into escape opportunities, while balanced landing lets you turn heights into safe escapes. Dead hard is good for looping for that final stretch. But you won't be able to use all of them at once; it's two perks restricted to one, and even if it does give you that extra coverage to help you guarantee usage, it'll be better to bring another perk.
-
One teammate sandbagged me by throwing a pallet in my face while we were both being chased by the killer. Next time we were chased, we went to the shack, the window was trapped, I pretended to hold open the trap so they could vault through, then I just stopped holding it when they vaulted, they got trapped, hooked in basement, I went to the basement after the killer left, and just T-bagged in front of them until they died on first hook and stole their key.

Ah thanks for the feedback I didn't really account for inflation, but yeah since this is a market, like any other market, inflation will occur, you could put in a system to fix this although I'm not sure what it would be. I'm still working on it and researching real word micro-economics and would like to spend more time on this project, so thanks for the feedback again.
Believe me, I'd love to get rid of all of my useless add-ons and offerings too, but a market is pretty unlikely. Not only is demand always going to be down for those certain add-ons, which will prevent those from being auctioned properly, but demand for the more coveted add-ons with a fixed bloodpoint price tag would possibly have people resorting to secondary, unauthorized currencies. Not to mention that BHVR doesn't want to give up the bloodweb's monopoly on iridescent heads.
-
Unfortunately, what happens with infinite supplies of money and ergo, resources, in any market is that hyperinflation happens really, really quickly. And with hyperinflation comes either really bad wage disparity, or if the prices remain fixed, everything becomes so abundant that items lose any semblance of rarity. You could have literally 1 billion flashlights, which defeats the purpose of rarity.
Plus, if we allowed exchange, you know that we'd be getting Nigerian princes asking for 200 flashlights to help reclaim their inheritance.
