I think it is great design, but obviously still situational and weak. Obsession perks are supposed to choose an obsession which doesn't necessarily mean you have to tunnel them, it just means that you have a perk that requires you to do something to the obsession.
Rancor has two effects though, it shows you where everyone is when a gen is done on top of making the final survivor able to be moried and insta downed.
But wouldn't it be so much better if being the obsession by the killer's perks gave you a debuff, while being the obsession by your own perks gave you a buff, instead of functionally having all of them give you a buff?
Not necessarily a tunnel like Dying Light would have (which would mean more like getting a leg spontaneously broken instead of a target on your back), but a significant disadvantage to make you think twice about equipping obsession perks. The intent behind perks like DS, Object, and For the People were clearly meant to be powerful (in theory, at least), so making you the obsession would fit in as a debuff, no?
-
Well I literally cannot understand what you mean by "Well i'm tired to get hits in the other side of the palette and throw the palette over the killer and he don't get stunned."
Get off the soapbox. You cannot effect any change by being snarky. Fixing bugs is not as easy as creating discussions; it's a long, laborious process exacerbated by the fact that 1) BHVR already has the giant Resident Evil chapter to worry their pants off about 2) Canada is in the middle of work-from-home. Whenever there's anything amiss, everybody gets out their degrees in computer science jackassery from the University of Reddit to preach about how BHVR is so lazy and doesn't appreciate its players and they're all just a bunch of complacent louts who need to be taught a lesson. Don't fall into the irony trap, don't be one of those people.

You are right but the problem is, they made an annoucement on twitter, that they fixed it and they didn´t. Why would you do that? They showed, that they are incapable of holding their word. And honestly: They brought this bug, i rather play without an update than with buggy hitboxes.
Their failure to completely patch the bug was because of inexperience, not dishonesty. It looks like they made some changes and it's less egregious, but not quite back to normal. Until then, it's just time to wait.

Is that to imply that Otz is one of the best around?
-
No, I think Evolve is more evocative of Fall Guys and Among Us. I think DBD is more like a watered-down Overwatch if we're talking about player statistics.

The entity has many, many illegitimate children, if fanfiction is to be considered canon.

Ds actually reduces the chance of making you the obsession. Especially now with the nerf I feel like I’m the obsession a lot of the time.
It says "Increases the odds of being the obsession" so I'm not sure about that. Is it a bug or something?
Plus, if you buff rancor, you can bring back the most recent pre-nerf DS, since using it makes you the obsession 100%. Maybe have it so that when the obsession heals up to healthy, they scream and are exposed for x amount of seconds as an even bigger middle finger.

Wouldn't Rancor by definition already designate someone as the Obsession? If anything, someone else bringing DS would help if you were the unlucky Rancor target because there is a chance that their DS activates and makes you no longer the Obsession.
You can have rancor follow the steps of its great-grandfather, nemesis, and have it not create an obsession by default. That way, it's a punishment for the agency of survivors (or bringing another obsession perk but hey).
-
Whenever you see a fix for breakdown.
Bug fixes aren't as easy as pressing a few keys and hitting "post comment." First, you have to find what's causing the bug, which is often multiple factors. Fixing it without creating more glitches is an even more arduous task. Meanwhile, trying to make a mockery of BHVR out of spite and pettiness is getting us absolutely nowhere. So maybe don't.

But if I randomly become the obsession because someone brought DS?
Maybe have it so that the obsession chance modifier for DS and object becomes 100%?

With an outfit like that the only person she's going to be killing is RuPaul

@Phasmamain said:
I don’t enjoy it at all. Especially if the killer is keeping tabs on you and chases you during the final gen it feels like you got robbed
Well that's why it's based on the obsession. Running certain powerful perks will cause you to become the obsession, to counteract that force.
-
Insidious is a perk that literally can only be used for camping. So, maybe do something about that.

I'm hoping that soul guard will be used first like borrowed time, but then I'd have to mend before being able to use MoM.
I know for a fact that if you get soul guard/BT, you take a hit with that, and that gives you the protection hit needed to activate MoM (EG, you have 2 protection hits, you're on the hook, you get rescued with BT, you take a protection hit, BT puts you into deep wounds, MoM gets that final protection hit stack and activates), then you'll be able to use Soul Guard/BT and then MoM without having to mend at all. I don't know what happens if MoM is already at 3 stacks and BT/Soul Guard is active, though.
-
it's a bit hyperbolic to say that that'll happen to all killers. Everything, and I mean everything, will have to change to adapt to the times. If the environment changes, the players have to change. That's just how time works.
Plus, they haven't ever handicapped a killer. Even after adding the overheat to Billy, nothing's changed. Good players weren't chainsawing that much anyways, it just made Billy more difficult for beginners. Even after nerfing Nurse, she's still the entity's right hand woman. What usually happens is that new content is added, power creep happens, and the old guard fails to adapt. Wraith has actually been changed quite a bit, Trapper is just pretty hard to re-balance considering the 50/50's that most of his games are, and Billy fits in just as well as he used to, although his add-ons were nerfed.

Its pretty bad. Rated the most bs map right now. So many god windows good pallets and the house of pain is called that for a reason. Literally a complete infinite. Also i wanna hammer tf out of all the fences.
Pallets aren't great, house of pain is pretty mindgameable (especially with stealth killers, you can crouch to sneak around to the other side). Windows can be a pain but most of them are from a drop, and even balanced landing only works once every 40 seconds.

Haddonfield isn't that bad, unless they've got balanced landing. Even then, it just extends chases by a bit.

I don't think endurance stacks, so if you have the endurance effect from both up at the same time (meaning you don't get MoM from the soul guard hit), what may happen is that both are used at once, so you only get value out of one. Either that or the timed endurance of soul guard will temporarily overshadow the fact that MoM even exists, and the endurance status effect is applied by MoM being active, not like any token system.

and yet a key which can be found in a chest is effective at ending the game.
Which is why they've spoken of nerfing keys.
-
The reason people want more meta perks is so that people are able to run other perks. What happens when you have options that are naturally better than others is that people will choose them, leading to bland and repetitive gameplay. After all, perks are meant to be fun and interactive.
-
Offerings aren't meant to be terribly effective. They are not usually supposed to decidedly tip the scales in favor of one side in any significant manner, just a nice little added effect to slightly modify the game experience.

Twins, Pyramid Head, possibly Blight, Plague, and maybe Bubba.
Charlotte only kills to protect Victor. I would assume that humans are better able to take care of fragile little babies than some spider monster in the sky. Pyramid Head exists as the incorporeal embodiment of the subconscious desire for self-inflicted justice. He punishes the guilty, and among the killers' ranks, there are plenty. Clown is wanted by the fashion police and the rest are all felons. Blight only kills because he's too jacked up on pustula petals (a little diddy called addiction, fits in with the Opium War-era lore), so if Claudette puts her major in botany to any use they might be able to bribe him, Plague is driven only by her mindless devotion to her perceived god. She won't ever become disillusioned with her ideals, that's just how hubris works, but if any of the survivors are Mormons and have a bible with them, I'm sure Plague has a moment to talk about our lord and savior Jeff Christ. Bubba is pretty nice, in the movies, and only kills because his family is awful. He's one of those cases where kindness elicits kindness.

Well, keep in mind that a buff should still be in line with lore and original functionality. The latter isn't that great, even if you did something like allow it to proc multiple times. As for the former, it would still have to involve the entity. Maybe have it so that the killer can't vault blocked windows or give you the ability to vault a block window an extra time or something like that, if we're going in that direction.

They nerfed the addon because it wasn't good. Why not buff it? You have absolutely no reason to run begrimed head over rusty head right now.
It wasn't necessarily intended to nerf begrimed head, it was just collateral damage from a balancing patch.
Plus, stacking mangled could be pretty unfun, to put it lightly.
-
He should probably get a nerf, but glitches are never the way.
-
The mangled part was standardized. I think that was changed when they were trying to remove individual modifiers on status effects to make things more straightforward.
They removed the gen speed part because it just wasn't that great, for starters, and they probably wanted to make generator speeds less variable, especially with add-ons. @altarf said it best.

Plague yeah, I wrote some ranting and ill-organized overhaul idea a while ago but it boils down to 1) make her corrupt purge timer stop going down when you're carrying a survivor 2) let you carry around tokens of corrupt purge after drinking from a fountain instead of activating instantly.
But she's nowhere near Hag. Nothing compares to the pain of playing Hag. Plague can feel a bit complicated at times but playing Hag is the 10th ring of hell experience.
Reducing Ghostface's cooldown would be more of a straight buff than QoL. Adjusting his reveal mechanic to prevent the survivors from hearing the audio queue (in case they accidentally see you) is more along the lines of QoL. I get revealed on accident more times than I get revealed intentionally.

Probably. The game has demonstrated its resilience in the past.
But as with all things, it'll start dying one day and the devs will probably eye a not-so-Dead by Daylight II.

I don't really recall an urban-styled map, but it won't be too different from an indoor map. Both have big walls that prevent you from just strolling across the map, the only difference is that one protects you from rain.

You're forgetting that this is DBD. You'll pry peoples' "toxic noob baby killer go die " from their cold, dead hands.

No. Rancor begets rancor, so once you get stuck in the cycle of one jackass being stupid online, you can't stop it. Resign yourself to fate and just watch as people grow dumber and dumber and angrier and angrier.

I mean, the biggest difference between a good spirit player and the spirit we want nerfed, is that a good spirit player doesnt rely on scratchmarks.
I personally think that swapping the effect of Father's Glasses to being able to see scratchmarks and have Mother Daughter Ring hide blood pools, while Spirit is no longer able to see scratchmarks in her basekit phasing would already improve facing Spirit players. It's a relatively small change. But if the Spirit is already a good Spirit, she doesnt need the scratchmarks to find people in the first place. Heck, I play Legion quite often, I cant rely on scratchmarks to find people with his power AND his breathing almost covers survivor breathing.
That would make Spirit hard to play, but not necessarily cap her potential. As you correctly mentioned, most good Spirits won't need scratch marks since they're already running the mother-daughter ring, but that won't make it more tolerable to go up against good spirits, just bad ones. Then we get nurse 2.0, with a similar gap between the worst of the worst and the best of the best.

@Firellius said:
Yes, both reward for losing, but the hatch doesn't necessarily reward bad play, because one survivor can't do all the work. If you loop the killer for two minutes straight, and your teammates spend that time crouchwalking around without doing gens, you're not playing poorly.
Also, the hatch is a far weaker play, since it needs to be found, too, and the killer can cover the map way faster.
NOED doesn't necessarily reward entirely bad plays, either. If you went out of your way to hook each individual survivor, one after the other, so that everybody's on death hook but not dead, then it's not so. But it still remains that they open the doors to a salvage that is way too powerful.
-
Hag, Huntress, Trapper, Bubba, Clown, Deathslinger, Trickster, etc.
Hag and Trapper are based on setup. They won't be applying much map pressure, especially at the beginning. Huntress and Bubba can't get much map pressure either; they're based around getting downs quickly. If they're grouped up or you chase a survivor off of a generator that's near completion, sure, you'll get value, but it's not the most efficient way to use ruin and it's better to run pop, in that case. Same thing with Clown and Deathslinger. They're meant to end chases quickly, so you'd be better off running pop. Trickster is just too weak to apply map pressure or end chases quickly.

Thought thisd be interesting to do again. So its a normal match doing your normal stuff as a survivor 3 people have been unhooked and you don't think anything of it till BAM your instadowned in chase by devour hope. Normally when i get hit by devour its like "ohhhh ######### here we go!" Devour makes the match pretty fun for me. Its the earned middlegame noed.
The last time I played survivor, I went against a devour hope Spirit. It was going pretty well, but I literally spent 10 minutes looking for the devour totem, found 4 dull ones, and scoured the entire map for the hex totem while three other blendettes on my team self-cared in a corner. And then I got mori'd before even getting hooked.
And that's why I don't play survivor

@Lord_Tony said:
Legion can't get downs normally when they are put into mending anyways so I don't understand why mending is not meant to down people
Legion is a normal 115% M1 killer. As long as you can loop properly he's not that bad.
-
It's a bit contradictory to say that deerstalker should be added because you want to slug for the 4k, but adding deerstalker would not make people cozy up more to slugging.
I'm opposed to both, really. The whole point of deerstalker is to enable slugging, after all. Oftentimes, slugging survivors for extended periods of time is better than not doing so, but since that's subversive of a core game mechanic, it shouldn't be encouraged in any form. Even going for the 4k is subversive of a core game mechanic. Unless I really have a bone to pick with the last guy or it's a Nea, the hatch is meant to be a chance for escape. Completely denying that fully-intended chance for a few extra bloodpoints isn't exactly healthy for gameplay.

yeah but plague puts survivors in broken state
she gets buffs when they cleanse
and she has aura reading for when they puking as an add on
and puking is very loud
plus she's technically a ranged killer
I really don't see the point of legion's mending. They really need to buff mending make it an actual threat because they'll either keep moving so mending doesn't go down or just heal.
Plague is not able to get four injured survivors at the same speed legion can. Her strength is not in staving off healing, but in her corrupt purge, which is entirely unrelated.
Legion's mending isn't supposed to be a threat. If you are unfortunate enough to remember how mending used to work, you may recall why the Devs are so reluctant to change mending. It's supposed to be a time-consuming hindrance, not an actual way to get downs.
-
Yep to both. It's a pretty menial change, though. Rarely will you need reloads any faster than you already get them, and that slot could go to something like BBQ.
