True, false and false. DLSS is exclusive to Nvidia, yes, but AMD is working on a similar competitor to DLSS (They call it Fidelity fx super resolution), which is rumored to release by the end of the year. In a game like DBD, my GPU usage is around 70% ingame on ultra settings (1080p 144fps), which leaves 30% performance for ray tracing. That doesnt sound alot, but if they added DLSS, the gpu usage would cut in half, to 35%. Since ray doubles the GPU usage, it would come up to 70% again with DLSS and RT enabled. DLSS literally takes 7 minutes to add with the plugin in unreal engine, i have done it myself, and many smaller games that uses unreal engine has also added the feature. They literally said 1 guy from the company added the feature in one weekend. Since BHVR have many 100 employs, they have no reason to add it. It's double FPS for anyone with Tensor Cores.
And when Fidelity fx super resolution releases, they should also add that, which im sure they will, since it will also work on the newest consoles.
Not everybody has tensor cores, I'd need a source on just "plugging in" a plugin over the weekend (which again, you don't just press a button), and DLSS frame rate effects are not only not linear, but depend on individual games. You can't extrapolate a figure or approximation without actually trying it out.

If you play very good survivor and you are an swf, you will beat very good killers. Tournaments have shown that.
IF you are just average survivors, you will still beat average killers. Because yes, it doesnt help you outloop, but it helps that your teammates know
who is in a chase, and who is save
where is a gen nearly finished, or were are the others working on a gen
what perks does the killer have without testing them all out yourself
how many dull totems have been cleansed, and where
where are all the pallets wasted during the first chases, aka where to go in a chase
is the killer camping or not?
Knowing when to work on a gen without interruption, where to go to the next then someone was chased off, or where the others are so you finish the last gen faster, or who can stay on a gen because someone else is going for the unhook? Compared to solo, even knowing that others do gens and not just hide somewhere because the killer is in their outer terror radius helps.
And you say that is not an advantage, or that it doesnt help? Hell yes it does, because you finish those gens way faster than solo can, and way faster than most killers can keep up.
So either you have no clue about the game, or you are just lying because you are afraid defs realize one day there have to be changes.
IF this game ever wants to achive some kind of balance, it needs to seperate swf from solo survivors.
DBD as a game is not a tournament. We cannot not expect players to play with mechanical precision and judgement.
And again, if you're playing a killer who can chase well (or tunnel, like Pyramid Head), then you're set. No amount of communication can bring back a dead teammate, and no amount of generator efficiency can counter a slugging nurse.

Unbelivable a killer has to tryhard instead of having fun and chill (and kill).
I shouldn't have to be " a good nurse" if I wanna counter 3 flashlights + 1 key + pallet stuns while carrying a survivor + everyone leaves through the hatch before the final gen is even done.
You don't have to. You can get 4k's as any killer, if you switch up your playstyle. If you highly suspect a SWF, tunneling a survivor out, especially with the DS nerfs, is very much a valid option.

You don't need to outloop a good anything, just outgen them. Which is where SWF comes in.
Also, SWF teams tend to be the ones running the same 5-6 perks.

Borrowed Time and Inner Strength are solid picks, but I don't see a way for Fast Track to really put in the work, and pallet stuns are extremely unreliable, which makes Smash Hit unappealing to me, personally.
Perks to consider are: Sprint Burst, Spine Chill, Botany Knowledge, We'll Make It, Detective's Hunch, Fixated, and if you really want to rush gens, I think Stakeout and Prove Thyself are better picks.
Down here in the hellish depths of rank 5, nobody touches gens, so I have to bring fast track and brand new parts if I even want to get one generator done before we all die.

I'd question: Why? Pallet stuns are literally bugged right now. (Even though they were supposed to fix it) so it's unreliable at best.
Would you still recommend it after pallets are fixed?

I agree with most of your post; I don't believe I have much to add, but I'll try to give my two cents
I didn't say it in my OP, but I did mention in an earlier post how the effectiveness of DH comes from already knowing how to loop, rather than when to time the perk/how to use the perk. The perk is as good as you make it, basically. And I understand that the average survivor isn't great or anything (including myself), but DH for distance feels #########. I know not everyone feels the same and they don't have to but it feels really cheap when you can't do anything about it, and I wrote the post because I constantly kept seeing people just say "bait it out" when in many scenarios that's not possible to do. And it feels worse when stacked in a trial.
Though I have my own opinions about which perk is better/more powerful or whatever, it's by far not objective and wasn't meant to be. There are problematic killer perks and powers that also are problematic, and it's not to say that simply because I have my thoughts on DH they aren't problematic still. It was just to talk about that one frustration rather than say this is the worst of the worst, like saying it's as bad as spirit's power or something.
Like I was saying before, Sprint Burst is stronger than DH when used right, and I do agree that being outplayed by DH compared to Sprint Burst is more apparent, but DH is used a lot more in red ranks from my own observation. I can only assume why, but I presume it's because of it being a chase extender. Sprint Burst denies the chase even initiating and imho is more geared to stealthing, particularly if an entire squad has it.
In regards to lower (higher? this has always confused me) ranks not using DH as much, I do think Sprint Burst is more accessible and its effectiveness is more blatant than for DH. I also believe Meg is a more popular character than David but I may be wrong.
In regards to the "ignorant" bit, the intention and the implication was to never call anyone specifically ignorant in general. It was to point attention to say that what they're saying is ignorant, or therefore their words about this particular topic are ignorant, not them in general. That's why I titled the topic in such a specific way. I never said anything like "people who say bait out DH are ignorant", I said saying that showcases your ignorance about the topic [and the game]. Nothing to do with their overall intelligence. Plenty of people have disagreed and they have proper reason to, and that's fine. They aren't ignorant for doing so. But I do truly believe it is an ignorant thing to just brainlessly say "bait it out" when DH is used for distance. Sure you can bait out a DH in a dead zone or basically when they're not capable of making any resources, but many times you are next to one in some shape or form.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2111410#Comment_2111410
than? did you mean that?
I also have no idea how you got that I was calling anyone who disagrees ignorant. My title literally says the following:
Saying "just bait out Dead Hard" showcases your ignorance about the perk and the game in general
Let's analyse this, shall we?
"showcases your ignorance about the perk and the game in general"
None of that has anything to do with overall intelligence, let alone overall if you disagree that DH is a strong perk or whatever. Plenty of people have disagreed for a variety of reasons. They aren't ignorant nor did the OP even imply that. That's just you misunderstanding. I wrote it in a specific way too to make that obvious.
Also more projection. I don't think highly of myself about this topic. Do I think I'm right in the regards to the whole "saying 'just bait out dh' when it's used for distance is dumb" bit? Yea, but that has nothing to do with me being arrogant or cocky. Doubling down on something you say/being confident about it has nothing to do with hubris.
If you can showcase that I'm being ignorant then I welcome you to. But thus far you've talked about misinterpretations of what I said and then projecting what you wrongly assumed I meant onto it and other things. That's not me thinking highly of myself, that's me simply disagreeing with things that are untrue. You are setting up the narrative of "if you disagree with my assessments you are therefore showcases irony and being arrogant".
There is no stipulation for superimpose to involve objects. It's a figure of speech meant to be similar to projection.
I'm not being pedantic and petty, I'm just refusing to be fed shite and told it's sugar and then being called arrogant or whatever else because I disagree.

It's fair if it's not an issue for you. I had a similar experience with old DS. Lots of people complained about it, but it was never an issue for me. Everyone's experience is different
Well since it turns out that the 5 packs of redbull I mentioned earlier are not giving me the energy boost needed to keep my fingers moving at top speed for enough time to write another dissertation, I'll just leave it off with that:
1) Dead hard is frustrating, undeniably, but sometimes we need to think about things from a wider perspective, including in terms of time. Reworking it, meaning that you buff some parts, nerf the most frustrating parts, would be a good call.
2) Sprintburst is the worst exhaustion perk lololololololol fight me
3) Smash hit is the best exhaustion perk
4) I'm not kidding
-
@KingFrost said:
Replace Smash Hit with Sprint Burst, Dead Hard or Lithe depending on which you feel most comfortable with.
Replace Fast track with pretty much any good perk. You can't go wrong with Iron Will, Prove Thyself, Spine Chill, Detective's Hunch (so you can find totems for your inner strength easier. Small Game also works). Decisive STrike is good to run just to make sure there's an obsession.
But what if I feel most comfortable with Smash Hit?
-
SWF has a reputation that it doesn't deserve. Good coordination won't help if you're playing a very good killer. No amount of discord nitro will help you out-loop a good nurse.
As for adding a casual queue, the queue times wouldn't change much, but the issue is competitive players going into casual queues to 1) troll 2) grind. If we make it so that casual games don't reward points, then you prevent them from unlocking new perks and getting better at the game. If you do, it pretty much becomes Manor Farm.

I'd say give Kindred another shot if you feel like it. Other than that, maybe try out We'll Make it or Windows of Oppertunity
I used to run windows, but then I realized that knowing where loops are won't help if I can't loop in the first place.

Nope, but getting to red ranks is half part your skill, half part your opponents' ineptitude.

It's not necessarily killer-sided, it's just friendly to a lot of killers.
The thing about Midwich is that it's very easy to run straight, and turn into a room to find a loop. Killers like Blight, who can close distances well, and looping killers like Clown, excel on Midwich. Otherwise, it's straightforward and tedious.
Meanwhile, I play Pig without shame. And my therapist says that it's not healthy for me to keep talking about Midwich.

Never stated anything about the game being balanced around the best players. What's laughable is how you evidently read nothing I said and have such poor comprehension that you resorted to making up things I said.
The cringe attitude of "i get to make up things about what other people say and superimpose it onto them" is what baffles me but I'm not surprised by people who do that who act like clowns.
You're the waste of time here. Ciao
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2111262#Comment_2111262
I was about to respond and then I saw how you intertwined more meltdowns and fissy fits in your posts and showcased more irrational hostility and unnecessary aggressive behaviour, on top of being dishonest and not-so-great talking points. You're nothing special, just a twit who substitutes logic with aggression.
I'm going to end the charade as a clown like yourself is inept enough to be capable of entertaining itself with its own stupidity.
I don't know you, I don't care about you, and I'm going to continue posting what I feel like, when I feel like it. And you can die mad about it.
I'm actually crying at how much of a meltdown you had over a god damn video game perk lmao you made it so personal and it's clear it made you hot and bothered from the get go without me even talking to you or saying anything about you. What a tyke you are, how sad.
Apparently it's so hard to know than irony is often personified as Irony. So I guess we'll have to get the 9th grade English textbook.
The claim that objecting to DH displays ignorance is situational irony, demonstrated in that although the speaker claims that the audience members in question are ignorant, it is actually the speaker who is ignorant by applying a blanket term of ignorance to anybody who disagrees.
Moreover, in the statement, "You mean the fictional irony that's trying to be superimposed onto me," it is clear that the speaker holds a very high view of his or herself, and assumes that they are not, in fact, ignorant. They are averse to the prospect of being ignorant. This is the manifestation of hubris.
And speaking of r/iamverysmart or whatever it's called (regardless of your opinion of me I'm smart enough to stay away from Reddit), that's not how you use the word, "superimpose." To superimpose means to lay something on top of another object, as in masking. One does not superimpose irony in any turn of phrase. One does not put irony on a person, metaphorically or physically. One points out irony.
If you want to be petty and pedantic, be my guest. I have all spring break and 5 packs of redbull.
-
No. In order to be a ban-worthy offense, like holding the game hostage, they need to not only not do anything themselves, but go out of their way to prevent you from doing anything. EG, there used to be some spots on certain maps that the killer could not reach, but survivors could. That took away the killer's ability to win at all, regardless of skill, and was considered ban-worthy.
But surely, it may seem, there must be justice. And surely, there is. It's called NOED Freddy.
Bon appetit.

@kyogul said:
I think the explanations as to why Dead Hard is such a busted and unfair perk is pretty simply explained, but yet you have some people who don't quite get it and think it's just simple to "bait it out" when that only works on bad players.
The problem with Dead Hard is that it's a ctrl+z command for survivors in an exhaustion perk, and is the only exhaustion perk that is all reward, no risk, and has exploitable i-frames. If you get outplayed at a chase by a killer, all you do as a survivor is press E to deny an instance where you would otherwise get downed and extend a chase for longer than it should have been because you got rewarded for being injured and received a quasi-third health state. In many instances where Dead Hard prevents you from being downed can be swapped with having Endurance from Mettle of Man. And you did nothing of substance or effort to get said Endurance effect either.
Why saying "JuST BaIt oUT DeAd HaRd" is ignorant:
Dead Hard for distance can't be baited out. You can't make someone use Dead Hard, let alone does baiting matter when there's a pallet or a window right in front of them. Baiting only works on ######### players.
Exploiting of i-frames:
You can Dead Hard to prevent from getting hit by exploiting its i-frames. Examples: Dead Harding through/into Punishment of the Damned (POTD). If you were to use Lithe or Sprint Burst and run into POTD, you'd get injured. If you used DH to get across POTD (or even to launch yourself in the same direction as it), you would prevent from getting hit.
Likewise, if I used Lithe or Sprint Burst and walked into a trap by Trapper or Hag, it would activate. If I Dead Hard over those traps, it would not activate. How is this not a busted perk?
Dead Hard is the only exhaustion perk that is all reward, no risk:
Every other exhaustion perk involves some sort of setup and/or exhaustion management. Dead Hard is available to you whenever you need it and you have no need to put effort into maintaining to get it.
Lithe involves setup. You can be in a dead zone where there is no vault near you, and even then there are times when you need to vault while being looped but fast vaulting in that specific instance would be a waste.
Balanced Landing is very hit or miss as there are many maps where there are not even elevated platforms. Even when you're in a chase you may not be near one, either.
Head On is...Head On.
Sprint Burst is very much, objectively, the strongest exhaustion perk in the game in terms of effects, but not in actuality because of how you have to maintain it. It's the most tedious exhaustion perk in the game to maintain as it overrides the normal running function. You have to be in constant management of your exhaustion in order to properly have it available when you need it.
Dead Hard is the only perk that involves no setup, no risk, but all reward. You get injured and you get a free third health state on command with no effort to use on your part. Congratulations you can now outplay your opponent because you pressed E on your keyboard.
Conclusion:
Dead Hard is so problematic because it's such a powerful perk and involves no effort on the survivor's part to use, and it feels cheap that when you outplay your opponent in a chase they instead outplay you not because of skill, but because they tapped a letter on their keyboard. Dead Hard can be compared to old DS in a way; anti-momentum, because many times it wastes so much of your time that you have to leave them alone.
Also side note:
Also to the people who say Dead Hard isn't a strong perk because "eXhaUsTed oN thE GRoUnD" and whatever other non sense, then why is it arguably one of the most used exhaustion perks in the game, and more specifically the most used exhaustion perk in red ranks (or in other words, the highest rank in the game) ? Why is it always included in meta builds? Do you think people run DS/Unbreakable/Borrowed Time but put on a "#########" exhaustion perk, or an inferior one compared to something else stronger they can use for shites and giggles?
Brushing aside the moot point on how easy it is to use dead hard, which is misleading, the difficulty of using DH comes in judging when to use it, not actually pressing the button, nobody's telling you to bait out a DH for distance, and if they are, you need to block that psycho as soon as possible. You can bait out a DH that is used to evade a swing. That's the contention.
When used at a loop, nobody's saying to bait one out (at high ranks anyways, low ranks DH the moment they hear the terror radius). At that point, it's just a loop extender. If used responsibly, meaning that you get optimal usage out of it, it'll bring value. However, if the DH will overshoot the target, which is usually a window or a pallet, it becomes useless, even detrimental, as it can force a medium vault.
But it still does have more usage than balanced landing and the such. That's because, in total, DH will give you less gained ground than those perks. The sprintburst-type exhaustion perks help you get to a loop, which is why they need to cover more ground. DH is meant to extend a loop as a "Hail Mary" of sorts. As such, you still need to know how to loop, and you need to be in an optimal setup, although good positioning will help you get the most out of any given situation.
The other thing is that this complaint of "no setup, all reward" applies to a lot of killer powers and survivor perks. That's the point; they enhance your skill. Clown's bottles are free slowdowns. Blight's power is quickly closing distance. The rest of the exhaustion perks are no different; they gain ground to no cost. Dead hard isn't any different.
But what it is, is that when it works, it's much more apparent. When a baby Meg sprintbursts to a loop, and that extra distance preemptively allows her to loop more times than she would have been able to without, it's not obvious and in your face. When a DH comes in at the last second, it's the same effect, albeit weaker as the total distance gained vs. what you would have gotten otherwise is smaller, but its effects are much more observable. With the sprintburst, you won't think about how that sprintburst just gave her that extra loop. But with DH, it's happening in your face, in real time. It gives off the appearance, but not necessarily the effect, of being ridiculously strong.
Ultimately, DH isn't an awful perk just because it feels cheap by helping you out. Botany knowledge doesn't even need a key input, but those quick heals will give you a reward far greater than DH. Ultimately, the point of every single perk is to help you win. Some trade accessibility for effect, some vice versa. Some are big and bombastic and blatant, others are subtle.
And it's of no worth to degrade the skill of using DH. If DH were as ridiculously EZ to play, you'd see a bunch of rank 20 Megheads getting 4 man escapes by pressing E. You need to know how to already loop, and you need to know how to loop in such a way that you can position yourself for an efficiently-used DH.
And one thing to leave off on, is that calling anybody who disagrees with you "ignorant" is incredibly self-righteous and vain. Not only is it detrimental to the spirit of actual discourse, which is the point of forums, it's just plain nasty. This is a very toxic game, by nature, and tempers are going to run high, but there is no need for such vitriol. You can air your grievances about dead hard without the sanctimony, and you'll get a much better response in return. I'm sure that neither of us are on these forums for the sole purpose of being antagonistic, so let's not be instigators.
-
Eventually, time and luck will make sure that people will start crawling up to ranks where their skill isn't matched. If you play enough, you'll eventually get to higher and higher ranks, even though you aren't playing very well. Rank reset is a way to make sure that doesn't get out of hand.

Well, he does definitely seem like a killer. There's more to presentation than just physical appearance. Audio cues definitely play a huge role in setting atmosphere. What would Darth Vader be if he talked like James Charles?

Her lullaby is completely unchangeable, including by tinkerer, and is independent of her terror radius. So yes, her lullaby is gonna give you away. That is, unless you have some really stupid survivors who don't realize that a lullaby at full volume with no heartbeat is safety.
-
The real question is, are you really surprised that sole survivor is a bad perk?
-
Unfortunately, DLSS is exclusive to Nvidia users, and as much as we can crap on Radeon users, we have to admit that they exist. That, and the fact that ray tracing is generally very, very heavy on the system, especially on such a poorly-optimized game, would cause some serious FPS issues.
Plus, it's never as easy as just plugging in a new plugin. It always takes effort and testing when changing to a new, all-encompassing overhaul.
-
Bring out the CoD tapes.
-
Yep. You'd get a total of 3%, 1% for the actual great skillcheck, 1% because of stake out's bonus progression, and 1% because of fast track's bonus progression.
One thing to consider is that you'll never have 1 token of fast track unless it's tier I fast track. Each time fast track gains tokens, you gain 3, and the next time you succeed a great skillcheck you use all of them. So realistically, you'll be getting 5%. But is that really worth 2 perk slots?
-
Can I use this for my English presentation on irony?

You do realise that BHVR have made seemingly empty promises before right? It's been over a year since they promised to incorporate LGBT representation into this game and guess what? Nothing has happened in that year.
So the solution is attack those promises. Not BHVR.
Plus, they have 4 chances for adding new characters every year, and each release is planned extensively beforehand. Who they release this year were probably conceptualized last year.

No I wasn't? I'm just disappointed that BHVR have yet again, failed to follow through with their promises. If I wanted to attack anyone I'd be insulting and name-calling specific members of BHVR, but I don't. I simply want to bring the fact that the devs have seemingly made an empty promise to people's attention.
"I honestly wish that the devs would just stick to their word for once."
Going straight for BHVR's integrity is quite patently an attack against the character. If you want to highlight a broken promise (and this isn't even a broken promise, they said they'd give a totem counter and here it is, just in a very unsatisfactory way), then you attack the promise. Not the entity.

It's still going to be an instadown-on-demand, which is never bad. All it does is prevent you from doing it three times in a row. It's still strong, just diluted.

It was never meant to be a nerf, it's just balancing out.

To the best of my knowledge, saying that a company as a whole are doing something isn't a personal attack, singling out a singular person (say, not_Queen or Almo) and blaming them as the sole reason for something would be a personal attack.
Let's not be pedantic, it is clear she was attacking the repute and ethos of BHVR as the entity, not any fault of their actions or choices.

They literally did though. They said freddy had the highest kill rate at nearly 3 kill average. So they nerfed him. Every other killer has at least a 50% kill rate. Except for nurse, her kill rate is at 40%.
Right, that's what they're going to say because it sounds better than "people hated Freddy like hell."
Be sure not to extrapolate too much from statistics. What the statistics reveal is that, with Freddy, you can do very, very well. Much better than other killers. It doesn't speak to Freddy's basekit or his playerbase, it just says that you can play him and get good results. You can't tell how bad he is, and the same applies with other killers. You can only tell how far his potential reaches.

Yes, but it probably didn't go far enough. The issue with Twins is that, for the killer, they're pretty complex to play and it's hard to get maximum efficiency playing as them. Remember old Doctor? He had a very high skill ceiling, but there were so many intricacies that no matter how you played him, you felt like you weren't playing him at his best, or in the correct way. For survivors, the dual presence of a killer means rampant camping, and Victor is a very good slugger.

If you don't play pig then yes, you're 100% a reprehensible crime against style.
