  • It isn't forbidden verboten, in either official BHVR policy or developer comments.

  • How about we have people equally powered?

Plus, Freddy is far from OP, he's just easy to pick up. Nurse, Spirit, and sometimes Hag (better hope you're a SWF) are much more powerful than him, but harder to play.

  • She's fun and performative. You can do some very impressive things with her, for your audience.

Davids Adept is 10000000% times easier than Tricksters honestly

Yeah I just need to get better I think I’m pretty crap and it was quite demoralising but I know I need to get better so I’ll keep trying

but do you take a boop on the snoot or do you take it then maul? 😉

I take the snoot boops and then wait for NOED to kick in *insert wink*

I think it was more so they just hadn’t done a single gen and were just following me I probably shouldn’t have mentioned the body blocking but they didn’t do a single objective until I just gave up.

That's MMR for you. I usually take those as sort of training rounds; I already know I've lost, and this game is gonna last for a while, so might as well get some training in. I learned how to loop shack in one of those games, and now I'm a rank 1 toxic pig.

  • The only April fools I'd partake in is a 24 hour viewing session of never gonna give you up sung by Belle Delphine and Otzdarva

I’ve just come from a match and for absolutely no reason they were just clicking the flash light at me body blocking doing whatever they could to piss me off. If that doesn’t put people off being killer I have no idea what will. I’m still learning and it’s quite disheartening for me. I wasn’t toxic and the match had literally just started.

I know I shouldn’t let it bother me but I feel so frustrated now so much I loaded into another match and didn’t do anything.

Any tips on how to not rage 😂😂😂🤷🏻‍♀️😪

Flashlight clicking is toxic, body blocking isn't. Just expect to see much more of this, and worse. This community is notoriously toxic.

  • The unfortunate reality is that tunneling is the most efficient way to play the game. Getting one survivor out early hampers survivors' abilities more than having all four up and running but on death hook.

  • Pretty much both. Killers will usually be actively going for a 3-gen if possible, which can be very easy with incompetent survivors. That being said, it's pretty much inevitable in solo queue, where it's harder to coordinate, and there are some absolutely disgusting 3-gen configurations *coughs in Doctor.*

  • Ghostface has a higher skill ceiling but can achieve much more. By being able to mark survivors individually, he can generally operate with much more efficiency than Myers, who has to pile all of his stalks into one big exposed period, during which you'll only get like 2 downs. Plus, he has stealth on demand, and can stalk much more quickly, without any sort of stalk point cap.

I'd prefer not to, this was me adding to the pile of bad spawns rather than only thinking of this one.

    Try a Springwood offering.

  • Well that's a bit of a faulty conclusion to draw from there being a dearth of killers. Just remember that DBD is an asymmetrical game and some people will prefer one side over the other by nothing but natural tendency. Sometimes, I feel like playing survivor, but I'm just a natural born killer (main). Some people are going to enjoy the experience, some won't

  • I will not sleep until I get my resident evil chapter with Annette Birkin as the survivor. I'll become a survivor main if that happens.

  • I was a trapper on Lery's, and I didn't get to hit anybody because I literally grabbed everybody out of a locker when they got 20 AFK crows.

  • Make it so that keys turn into a troll face when you try to use them and then literally explode.

Also give Bill a shirtless skin. Give every male survivor and killer a shirtless skin.

  • Don't you think it's a bit of a stretch to look at a matter of chance and then declare that the game is trash? A bit entitled? A bit Karen-at-the-mall-esque?

  • My point isn't to justify it's to direct your attention to something that's magnitudes worse.

  • Honey, why would be complaining about hill totems when you can have Coldwind totems spawn in literally the middle of nowhere. They're pretty much those huge orange road cones.

  • Probably. The way things like this work is that everything starts out normal, and then as you pan, things kick into motion. Like corrupt; the tentacles won't emerge until you actually finish the camera pan and can control your character, which can be really weird from the survivor end. Same thing applies here; you start out in the default state and then the machinery gets rolling.

  • Coldwind is next, from what I hear. I think it'll just be whichever maps they feel like, after that. Probably Haddonfield or something else.

Against solos its mediocre at best. They still know where survivors are hooked, where generators have been completed and where exit gates are. This doesn't even take into account that swf exists that can deny all this and that not a lot of people use aura related perks.

What about the aspect of denying info perks?

  • The real question, before you ask why we are treated badly, is are we treated badly? In what way, by whom, and when?

Pop Goes The Weasel is a teachable perk for the Clown, and it's pretty balanced imo.

    Opinions?

Up and down the city road, in and out of the eagle, that's the way the money goes, Pop! Goes the weasel, GoobyNugget.

It's a good perk. I rarely use it, though, since I usually have to go way out of my way to kick a gen.

  • Don't crouch too much; it slows you down to slower than the survivor. If you have whispers, or any other method of tracking (or if you're approaching a generator), then start crouching. You want to only crouch when you want the element of surprise.

The best perks for stealth killers are usually tracking perks, so they can approach them in stealth. BBQ, Discordance, etc. are all good.

Don't use your ambush when you could use your M1. Ambush is best for short loops, like rocks; crouch out of LoS, and then ambush from an unexpected direction. You can even moonwalk and strafe while ambushing.

Don't use all of her hats at once. Think of them as ways to drag out the game; if you're under a lot of pressure, the generators are going to fly, you want to put on a lot of hats to take those survivors out of commission for a while. Only use them to stall the game if generator pressure is too high. I usually apply one hat for the first down I get, and then save them until I get to three generators, at which I add one by one. If generator progress is too fast, I'll smack them on anybody I find.

In general, she's going to be a normal M1 killer. You want to chase normally, use your ambush when you're at short loops without LoS. Otherwise, go into stealth when you think you're approaching a survivor.

Her best add-ons are the combat straps. They make crouching and un-crouching faster. The skillcheck add-ons are pretty bad, syringe, medical file, and the video tape enhance your ambush nicely but you won't be using your ambush much, the ones that cause a status debuff aren't that great (other than exhaustion and blindness), but the last will is pretty good. One extra trap is always welcome.

Jigsaw's annotated plan is a pretty good add-on. It adds a box, but extends the trap's timer. Remember, you don't want to get kills with the bear traps, you just want to delay them, and having more boxes means that they now may have to search 5 boxes. The crate and bags of gears aren't great, but the slowdown of box searching time is a nice passive. Amanda's secret isn't great, but if you're having trouble finding survivors, it'll give you good info. Tampered timer isn't great, since it just makes traps more lethal, not time-consuming, but jigsaw's sketch is great. I usually run crate and bag of gears or jigsaw's sketch and annotated plan.

Amanda's letter isn't great. It requires you to significantly change up your play style, but if you can successfully adapt, it's pretty great wall hacks. Rule set no. 2 is pretty awful. It tries to make traps more deadly, which again, isn't what you want.

So I decided to try and play some of the males and to be honest I'm underwhelmed by the cosmetics available for them, there are only a small handful of actually good cosmetics for the males imo when compared to the female survivors. Does anyone else feel this way?

In general, men are going to have less cosmetics by the virtue of it's harder to design cosmetics for men. You can be a lot more creative with female apparel. Plus, Dwight in an elf suit is all I need for the entirety of the male species, in terms of outfits.

  • It's pretty meh. Finding gens near you isn't that hard, deja vu is better for finding generators so you don't three gen yourselves and detective's hunch gives you totems and stuff.

  • @Smeagolthevile said:

As someone who plays primarially survivor, but a fair amount of killer, the Iridescent killer addons are beyond unfun. As a killer they become nearly required if you want to win, and as a survivor playing against a michael that never loses exposed, wraith to uncloaks silently, or huntress with 1 hatchet kills just takes away a huge amount of the fun of this game and turns the matches into just 10-15 minutes of frustration.

Well Iri head and clown's exposed bottles are probably the worst offenders, but you forgot those god awful add-ons like rule set no. 2 and the rest.

  • I doubt that devs have clear idea of a win condition either. This game just has so many factors and so many outputs from a single game that it's impossible to tell.

  • Executioner has the best. It's both scary and hot at the same time.

I am running my stealth build of Calm Spirit, Iron Will, No Mither, and Sole Survivor.

I was just up against a Doc that shortly after starting the match was in my area, and used Static Blast. I was already well and truly behind a tonne of LoS blockers as I spawned into Autohaven, and I also wasn’t near any other survivors. Despite this, the second I’m hit by Static Blast, Doc comes straight round the corner, right to me, despite other survivor screams occurring quite a significant distance from me.

    Ok....

Well im thinking he’s either running Whispers, Restraint add ons, or both. A few other times after being hit by Static Blast he comes straight to me.

    Post game...

He’s running Overcharge, Overwhelming Presence, M&A (clearly going for the adept), Discipline & Order.

No restraint, or other aura reading. No Whispers. And I main Doc myself, so I’m sensible enough to know not to stay in the same spot for long, and to move away once an illusionary Doc appears.

I’m really tired of this kind of bull crap. There’s no reasonable, logical explanation within the game rules that explains how this Doc was still finding where I’m hiding, except where this player must have been using hacks or cheats.

That's the game for you. Frustrating but we always end up coming back.

I've seen people play on PS4 Pro and let me tell you it does not look pretty either. Console optimisation in this game is a joke, coming from a pc player.

Yeah, the game is incredibly heavy on the graphical effects that really tax the system. BHVR doesn't exactly have a breadth of resources and DBD is really their first time running a big and beautiful game, so don't expect any big optimizations coming soon.

I've been seeing a lot of threads complaining about NOED and had an idea about a potential compromise. So to start things off, I do like the idea of NOED being a "do totems or else perk", but I've seen a lot of people bring up the point that sometimes a particular totem is hidden pretty well and it can be really difficult to find all of them. This is a fair complaint and it feels really bad to have 4 totems completed, but the killer still gets full use of NOED because of that last totem.

For my idea, NOED would work very similar to how it does now with one major exception. Any time a killer hits someone with NOED active, a dull totem will break. If there are no dull totems remaining, NOED's hex totem will break instead and the perk will be deactivated. Note, this does not stop survivors from destroying the hex totem once it's active, it just limits the amount of hits a killer can get from the perk.

This change would make it so that as long as survivors put some effort into doing totems, they at least get some reward for it, even if they are not able to find every single totem. It also preserves the intent of NOED as an incentive to get survivors to do totems.

Certainly a step in the right direction, and sounds like a very good idea.

I think that the main gripe with NOED, however, is that it's kind of a questionable perk in concept. It's a "clutch," perk, which I say without any of that toxic entitled survivor energy, which are in themselves pretty unfair.

  • It's not an issue with Blight, really, it's just that these maps are old and their geometry is hella wonky. Try hitting the fences from directly head on and see what happens. It has to be exactly perpendicular or pretty much 45 degrees for me. They'll probably fix it with the realm beyond updates.

  • @hardtimefun said:

You know this perk exist, you know how it triggers, you know what it does, you know how to remove it from the game, you can remove it before it even trigger, every killer you play against could run this perk.

So why do you complain about a killer using it?

You can totally remove this perk before it even trigger and you complain about this perk being a thing.

Yes noed can reward bad killers, it can and does, but it also punish survivors because you gen rushed, if you would have took the time to break 5 totems in the whole match, 16 times 5, to remove this perk without trying to hard to finish 5 gens in 5 minutes well you wouldn't be complaining about noed, but you so badly want to rush gens that you totally ignore the fact the killer can have this perk and when they do because you finished the gens in 5 minutes you cry about it? it was your job to DO THE BONES AND YOU FAILED DOING THIS SIMPLE TASK 5 TIMES, deal with it, stop crying about noed if you can remove it before it even trigger, stop being childish and do the totems.

I see victim blaming is the trend of today. I guess it's the killer's fault for injuring survivors and letting them get DH up too.

If the survivors had any indication of the presence of a hex perk, as well as a totem counter (like how you can use an obsession to detect a possible DS), the situation would be different. Even then, a notification of NOED specifically would be very much in order, since hunting for totems can range from walk in the park to those glitched tractor totems that even satan fears. But they don't. Hunting for 5 dull totems is a hassle, and unless they're in a 4-man SWF, there's no way to know you've cleansed all totems. Plus, most cases will have it so that there will be no NOED; necessitating that much time wasted just to stave off one potential outcome is a pointedly unhealthy direction for any game.

Moreover, complaining about "gen-rushing" is completely missing the point. That's an entirely different topic, most of which revolves around the killer side. The survivors are literally just doing their objectives, and it's what they're expected to do. They can't get mad at us for "hook rushing," and the converse applies. It's the job of the killer to apply pressure to stave off gens; it's not the survivors' job to spoon feed you. With very powerful killers, generator speeds grind to a halt. Given, it is unfortunate as it requires the average killer to pretty much tunnel, which is another issue in need of addressing, but NOED is a far cry from a solution. With weaker ones, the survivors are literally doing what they get paid to do. Stop whining and pick up stridor Spirit; she's more fun than some people would have you think.

The point of NOED is not to stave off generators; use pop for that. The point of NOED is to give beginners a second chance by giving them a lot of power, none of which was earned or worked for. That's where the innate issue of NOED is. A perk is supposed to enhance you, not win the game for you. Devour requires you to work for it. Make your choice requires you to work for it. NOED requires that you play sloppily and says, "Don't worry, here's a little gift basket," and inside of that gift basket is a literal bazooka. That is a fundamentally unhealthy mechanic. It is simply far too powerful for what it intends to be, which itself is a pretty unhealthy mechanic. It's specifically meant to bring undeserved kills, and a counter as RNG-dependent as doing 5 totems, which again, necessitates a totem counter, is not a counter at all. That's like saying you should bring exposing add-ons and killers specifically to counter dead hard. Get off of your soapbox and maybe drop that condescending messiah complex.

  • New asymmetrical games have come along and none of them made DBD obsolete. Like it or not, DBD has this particular market cornered and don't get your hopes up about anything new.

If you're running DBD at 10 FPS, but you can run cyperpunk & league at the same time, that sounds like an issue with your computer, not the client.

  • @Nos37 said:

The devs missed an opportunity to make a perk named Chiroptophobia (fear of bats), since the Trickster wields a bat (tho the Doctor wielded it first).

Chiroptophobia: A portion of the crows on the map are replaced with bats. Survivors who disturb bats will scream and suffer from the Exposed Status Effect for 30 seconds. Their location is revealed to you for 4 seconds. Bats and crows return 30%/40%/50% sooner.

That sounds pretty powerful. Maybe too powerful. They'd probably want to save that for a vampire killer, anyways.
