you're not reading the whole post or you are not understadnign what i am saying, A WHOLE FREAKING TEAM of survivors with flashbangs, I couldnt move... all i'm saying is if 1 survivor has it it shouldnt be an option for the rest of the team. seriously....same thing with flashlights...add that with them all communicating via discord.... well, you just can't win.

I almost did the same thing and I think I see what you're getting at now. I've barely had any success with the flash bang, and barely had it affect me as a killer so far, but it's been one person using it, a whole team with them, especially if they are body blocking and restricting your movement, yeah that'll ruin your night real quick. They could definitely use some tweaks.

  • But then it wouldn't be a *BROKEN* Key anymore! πŸ˜‚

i can bet the rank 4 was the first one in chase, then notice no gens beign worked on while everyone else just crouching behind a bush, then dcd.

I didn't see the rank 4 at all. The only ones I saw were the 19 that I downed, and the one with the Flashlight that I let leave through the hatch.

  • I'd say being able to carry 2 at a time, but still only starting with 1 in hand would be fair. I enjoy playing him with the understanding that I'm going to lose at least 1-2 gens early because of set up, but I can usually make it up during the midgame

Curious about your Dwight experiences. From my own they're either babies, stupidly good, memers or Head-on gamers. I can't remember the last time I saw a Dwight tbag, flashlight click, run OoO, aggressive DS/UB or do anything else even remotely annoying.

I also would like to ask what you consider as toxic behavior?

I try to be a very upstanding Dwight!

  • I don't see any reason why not. Seeing as if you go down as the last survivor that's pretty much game anyway.

I like that "game" is in quotes. It is a game.

Yes, it's just a game, but even a game is still a competition and they have a valid point that players should behave with some sportsmanship and respect. Realistically though, even I know that's just not going to happen.

Hey it's a horror game. Some play as a horror game, which means avoiding the killer playing stealthy. As killer people are supposed to fear you.

This is why I kind of whish the end game screen showed emblem and point breakdowns for both sides. Hiding across the map is one thing, but if you can hide right under my nose without getting found, I can respect that. I really which stealth would count more for the chaser emblem.

  • I have lead the killer straight back to where 2 other survivors were healing each other to save my own skin. Dick move but it worked πŸ˜‚

  • I've been running PI recently and have been finding a key about every 2nd or 3rd match depending on how many of the chests I get to. I have had 2 matches where I found both a Dull and Skeleton key in the same match.

  • I have! Always from the Survivor side, sometimes it goes well, sometimes it does not! πŸ˜‚

  • Nah, you were perfectly in the right. Especially if the killer was AFK the whole match. Once the gates are open, unless there is a save that needs to be made, just do the polite thing and leave. Don't let people make you think that going back to taunt is what you're supposed to do, and damn sure don't let them make you think you're responsible for covering their asses for their own cocky mistakes. Whether I'm running solo or duo, once I see NOED pop up, I'm getting out immediately.

Can you people stop being so biased for a moment? He carried the Kate for over an hour on his back. Could have hooked her, kill her, and the game is over.

Had to reread the post to be sure but I definitely see your point, Killer was just about as guilt as the Survivors for holding the game hostage at that point.

    @Beefmur said:

killed 2 people after this ######### went down. they did 2 gens. There was a Kate and a Felix. I chased the Kate until she gave up and emotionally broke. She went afk, I had her on my back she was my back buddy.

I found the hatch before it spawned in with blight rush bug. I sat on it with hex ruin, surveillance, undying, and tinkerer. They cleansed both totems. Felix 75% 3 gens and I went to go kick them. He never touched them ever again he hid. I tried letting the Kate go and following her to see if she'd bring me to Felix as I haven't seen him yet and he hasn't been hooked. She was literally a lima bean. She never brought me to him. After she pissed me off enough I put her back on my back and sat on the hatch that has yet to be spawned.

I then went to go play Mario kart 8 while waiting for tinkerer to proc. It never did, I played 4 Mario kart 8 circuits and if you were wondering I got 1st for 3 of the 4 circuits (200cc). I got bored of Mario kart and this fiend hasn't done one generator. I go watch some YouTube on my phone while I wait. 20 minutes have past no gens. At this point I was devoted to winning.

I dropped the Kate had her bleedout ontop of the not even spawned hatch closed it instantly and zoomed back and forth to the exit gates. I finally found the Felix once I found him I let him get up just so I could hit him again. After doing this like 4 times I dragged his useless cheeks to a corner and let the timer kill him.

    OUTPLAYED SUPERIOR GAMER

I hate playing with people like this on survivor side too. Even if there are 3 gens left to go woth 2 of us, I still work on them rather than afk in a locker somewhere. Had one match where the killer evidently recognized this and blatantly left me at the start of a chase to go find the other.

  • For the longest time it was The Doctor because I played stealth and focused on not getting found and Doc always hard countered that. I've since learned how to hide from him effectively. Nowadays, it's Ghost Face, Leather Face, Wraith, and Spirit that fill me with dread. Freddy I don't mind *as much* but I didn't get into a match with one that closed hatch and put snares at both exit gates that left me SOL and I'm still apprehensive about them now.

  • @kaeru said:

Yes. But killers hate them only because they are annoying.

Then you learn how to avoid or bait flashlight and bully squad is not a threat anymore. They just die because they can't do all gens in time.

I second this. I find them to be more of a nuisance than a threat. The ones that can time their saves when you're locked in the pickup animation I somewhat respect. It's the clickers that irritate the piss out of me. "Yes, I know you're there. Yes, I know you want me to chase you. No, I don't care."

  • Wasn't on DbD, but was playing with some one PSN that was "Weldmybuttshut" I laughed way too hard for way too long.

    hex: offender

    Played with them too, geeked.

  • Anytime you have a situation that's remotely competitive, you're going to have people that take that drive a bit too far. Now, when I play, I *do* play to win, but it's kind of hard to guage a win/loss in an asymmetrical game like this, and I very much enjoy a tense, exciting match, so I'm going to give an honest effort the whole match. So if gens are flying a bit to fast, and for the sake of emblems, I'm going to find other things to do. Getting in and out just doesn't give me a whole lot of enjoyment. I think if they relaxed some of the emblem/pip requirements it may help things. There will always be some people who are just overly competitive.

  • When I play killer I'm always leary of Neas and Claudettes. Not so much for toxicity as I play on PS4 and thankfully PGC isn't an issue, but more so for being a nuisance. Flashlight clicking, trying to bait me into a chase, and taunting. I blatantly ignore them, but their persistence makes that difficult at times.

  • When I ran Legion I ran Mad Grit with Iron Grasp and found it to be an effective combination, if a bit situational in order to get full effectiveness out of it.

It's 4% per try, but you get 3 tries. So the actual chance you'll unhook yourself if you have all 3 of your tries is a little better than 1 in 9, rather than 1 in 25.

This just makes it that much more disappointing when I used to run Slippery Meat and burnt salty lips and all 6 chances would fail. πŸ˜‚

Personally, I hope they make it more "Anti-Tunnel" in a future Update. Like increasing the Timer or removing Scratchmarks/Bloodtrails/Grunts of Pain for 10 seconds after the stun so that the Survivor either is secured longer or has an actual chance to get away (like, the strongest Killers like Nurse and Spirit dont care about DS at all, so 10 seconds of basically being invisible can give the Survivor enough distance).

That's what I have always thought was the biggest drawback. The stun is inconvenient, but not enough to really get away, especially in a map like Ormond where blood trails would be easy to track with.

  • If I down the 3rd, and 4th is in sight, don't look a gift horse in the mouth.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/236028/what-counts-as-winning-a-match

For me I don't count it a win unless at least 3 escape. Just as on killer I count a win as at least 3 dead.

2 is a draw, 1, even if it's me, is a loss for the team

Yeah Pretty much this. When I play survivor, I don't call it a "win" per se unless 3 make it out. When I play killer, at least 3k I call it a win, especially of the last one just makes it to the hatch. 2/2 is kind of a "meh, take it or leave it"

  • It could be Adam, or Detective Hoffman, it's been a while since I have seen Final Chapter, but I seem to recall Dr. Gordon taking Hoffman back to the room from the first movie.

  • @AsherFrost said:

Killer: tunnels a survivor to kill them as quick as possible.

OP: immediately dies on hook, "that'll show him!"

Killer: "well that worked out well, now for the other 3"

The impeccable logic am I right? Lol. But yeah that's pretty much my thoughts on it when I play killer and someone suicides on the hook early. "Welp, that's good for me, sucks that person screwed over their team though." πŸ˜‚

  • @Friendly_Blendette said:

Just make lockers have like 20 something victors in them. If you are near them you just hear constant screeching. Whenever a survivor needs to hide of huntress/trickster need to reload they just bully out a few victors to make room.

I do not know what made you think of this, or if any of these responses were what you expected, but this entire thread is pure gold and I nearly spit out my coffee at these πŸ˜‚

  • Map has a lot to do with it. Was playing on Yamaoka Estate the other night, and there was one that spawed in a patch of bamboo that I would never have found had I not walked into it trying to hide.

  • The rank system can kinda be gamed a bit. I hover around rank 8 occasionally breaking into 7 simply because I play a well rounded game and I like to think I do so *decently* but as a Survivor, 1 gen, 1 Totem, 1 Unhook, 1 Heal, and you can pretty much safely gain 1 pip if not at least safety pip. Play more matches in a day and you'll see it go up.

I don't use this perk anymore, but it was in the majority of my builds when I was new and I must say, It really was a nice perk to have. I got value out of it surprisingly often. If you don't need that 4th perk slot, yeah I can't fault you for bringing it

My current build is PT, LB, Kindred, and Resilience. I find it to be a fairly well rounded build that allows me to contribute to most situations. It doesn't *always* pay off, but it has definitely saved my ass more than a few times.

  • @TheMadCat said:

I prefer perks that helps me during the game, because escaping isn't my primary goal. Escaping is a bonus.

My goal is getting involved as much as possible. Doing saves, generators, being chased... Then, if I can, escaping.

Also, I too often see the hatch before the genetors are all done. I'm the idiot who often run into it while chased. 😹

If we are only two left and I see the hatch, I do my possible to get the Killer as away as possible from it, so my teammate can get it in time.

Oh I keep Prove Thyself, and Kindred equipped as well, I try my best to be a good teammate, but I just like having LB in my back pocket in case things go south.

  • I tend to see this a lot when I'm being chased and the killer's hit and my pallet stun go off simultaneously. One or the other had to happen first!

  • As has been said, play your game, and accept there are going to be a lot of times you are going to get your ass handed to you on a silver platter. I play killer with the mindset of "Respect is a two way street" if I'm outplayed, I'm outplayed, that's just the way matchmaking goes a lot of the time. If I'm taunted, bullied, ect. I try to be the bigger person and ignore them. However, don't hesitate to make yourself a nice endgame build, and just afk in the middle of the map when the time comes. Every so often, you can snag some overly cocky or foolish survivor that doesn't take the win when they get the chance and just *has* to leave the exit gate to come taunt and/or bully you just a bit more. I feel more satisfaction from those kills when they are automatically sacrificed because of EGC or because they took things too far and now even their teammates won't come back for them and they suffer the consequences of their own hubris than I do even honorably sacrificing survivors who played respectably and gave good chases. I can't put my finger on it, but there is just something infinitely more satisfying about those people that had their chance to leave, but chose to come back anyway facing the consequences.

  • I don't even bring a key in (but will absolutely scavenge one from a sacrificed survivor and/or ches) and now I'm wondering if the times killers just seem to be screwing with me are for twitch streams πŸ€”

A quick look on the wiki says that protection hits happen if you are within 10 meters of an injured survivor, with a lasting effect of a few seconds (I don't know how long exactly) after leaving that radius. If both survivors starting sprinting directly away from each other at normal speeds it takes 1.25 seconds to get 10 meters distance between them. If protection hits has a lasting effect of 5 seconds that's 6.25 seconds that the rescuee can be downed. Even assuming it's 3 seconds still gives us 4.25 seconds at a minimum, which tunneling killers can take advantage of through no fault of the survivors.

I say the better change would be the one suggested by multiple people above saying that the rescuee loses collision. It fixes the annoying aspects without punishing the survivor.

Honestly, I would prefer some perks buffs before nerfing more perks. I feel like BT is not as annoying as current DS is and I think we are due for another round of perk buffs.

I would definitely like to see Boil Over get a buff. I tried running it for a long time but I just couldn't get any pay off out of it without someone still needing to block, or multiple Petrified Oak offerings.

  • Yeah I always run Discordance as well, mostly because I play my killer trying to think like a survivor πŸ˜‚

  • Unfortunately that's just solo queue. I definitely agree they should have been working on it while you were being chased, but once you were hooked, yeah I'm sorry but that was game. While the 3 of them could probably have kept him busy enough to pull you off, there was almost no chance you were coming off without someone taking your place, and good luck finding anyone willing to do that in Solo. I honestly can't say I would have come for you unless I was certain Myers was well away from the hook. It's essentially the same as seeing NOED or Devour Hope, if I'm exposed, you are on your own and I'm getting the hell out.

  • @Eninya said:

As a killer, I wish the stupid aura bubble didn't block vision around the area.

As a survivor, that bubble never works for me. lol

I honestly find the bubble just as annoying from the Survivor side.

  • Haven't gotten hate mail since I mained Hag before cross platform was available. But I'm so glad they decided to send a voice message because I love replaying it!

  • I never have been able to get the hang of the Flashlight and honestly, the only time I have had people Flashlight saved as the killer is when they catch me in the pickup animation, otherwise it's pretty easy to dodge. I will come get you off the hook and patch you up though. That's my only major complaint from solo queue is quite literally getting left hanging.

  • I define success in a relative sense on both sides. When I play killer I consider a 3k a solid win, 2k as decent and 1k or less as a loss. Do I expect to 4k every time? Absolutely not. But I'm always going to *try* to 4k. As a Survivor, I don't necessarily see every match that I escape as a win. If there is only 1 gen done and I had to run for the hatch, I don't consider that a *win* per se, but at least I survived. Now if I manage to open a gate with the hatch already closed and escape, I'll call that a win. If I'm running a duo, I'll call a win as both of us escaping. As a team overall regardless of if I'm running solo or not, I call any match 3 of us make it out as a win for the team. With the asymmetric style it makes it difficult to define a clear winner in a lot of situations.

  • @NoxVeno said:

was there a burnt offering? if the survivors get spaced out somebody's going to get the short straw

Didn't think about that one. Yeah if the shroud gets burnt, chances are one unlucky survivor is getting burnt too.

  • As has been said there are several factors, you ran from the start and were easy to track, Nurse can cover a lot of ground with those blinks in a short time, and even if you set all that aside, sometimes it's just plain bad luck and it sucks.

  • When I play survivor, it's a staple of my solo build to make sure I'm effective as a teammate. Helps counter Thana and I think Dying Light(The Myres one), of course Discordance throws is out the window, which I have seen more of lately, and run on all my killers.

  • The community here on the forum, I don't really consider toxic at all. The player base, moderately so. My girlfriend played a match while waiting for me to launch the game, she got downed, crawled to safety, and then got Tbagged by a fellow survivor she earlier had rescued from a hook, which I honestly had never seen or heard of happening before. Tbagging at the exit gate, hatch, pallets, ect. Sure, but never over a teammate.

    What?

They want the devs to add more mature content to the game so it gets an "M" rating from the ESRB if it doesn't already. Or a PEGI 17+ if that's your local system. Honestly, I wouldn't be opposed to hearing a gruff brit voicing some vulgar lines for David King.
