NOED is definitely annoying to face, but in your specific situation, you were screwed either way. If you're the last survivor and the killer has already closed the hatch, the odds are definitely against you, and you definitely need stealth on your side if you want to open the door and escape. But once you are found with the hatch already closed, that's essentially game over. In most situations though, all NOED signals to me, is that all bets are off and I'm dipping out as soon as those gates open.
-
I'm fairly chill, but I'm always going to play to win.
-
I had a match where the last survivor was literally pointing at me trying to sell me out to the killer with 1 gen left to repair, but the remaining ones were all too close together. I happened to find a key in the basement, and got the hell out of there. Personally, I find that a proper use. I recognize that's a very specific and uncommon exception though. The fact there is a trophy/achievement for all survivors escaping in a public match through the hatch doesn't help. I can support removing them from the blood web, and replacing the Broken Key with another aura reading item that makes more sense, and making keys only spawn in game, and maybe only if the hatch is already visible.

Play her on Swamp and Red Forest with the squishy sounds added and you'll hear distinct goot prints. I've also noticed it on grass heavy maps, it's not a rustling grass sound but an actual footsteps in grass sound.
Well the sound of moving through the reeds themselves does make sense as she is moving them, just not at ground level, but the footsteps, yeah absolutely not.

I picked Dwight as my Survivor main from my first day because his character description/backstory fit me perfectly. I always have been one of the nothing special people, and though I have never been an outspoken or take charge "leader" per se. I have always had teachers, coaches, managers tell me that I "demonstrate leadership qualities." His perks only cemented the decision even more as they are mainly support perks that boost the rest of the team more than the individual player, which is a role I always try to take in most games is the Support/Medic ect. For killer, I picked Hag from back in my first few days when my friends and I would just do private matches because she looked genuinely creepy and I enjoyed using her power. She did well for me for a while, but I doubt I could do much with her in public matches anymore. Now I'm just trying to use whatever killer strikes my fancy for a while.

I posted a thread about a week ago asking about the MMR, and what I heard at the time is that the data for it *is* being collected eg. Game Performance, but MMR is not fully implemented yet.

Boil over!
-
Not exactly, *Instant* karma, but got into a match against The Legion at the Family Estate, and it's a kind of neck and neck game. Comes down to myself and one other survivor with 1 gen left, but we're in a bad way with how the remaining ones are all close together, barely have time to tap one before the killer comes back. Some time goes by and the match begins to hit a stalemate. The other survivor gets hooked, I pull them off and make a break for it. The get downed then DS and start pointing in my direction trying to sell me out. Killer downs them and leaves them for bait, they start crawling towards me. Killer picks them up, takes them back out into the open and drops them again, never getting too far away. Well eventually the killer finds the hatch drops the other survivor on it. Survivor continues trying to crawl to me until the killer finally leaves. I go and pick them up and they immediately point at me when the killer comes back. At this point I don't know what's going on but I make it to cover in the bamboo, the other survivor follows the route they think I took and drops all the pallets nearby making more noise. I keep my head down and they go on about their business and pass me by. I drop in the basement to check for items, and lo and behold, it's a skeleton key I immediately use to save my ass and gtfo. XD

Here’s my tier list for killer looks ( licenced don’t really matter)
For licensed I think we can go off whether they did the character justice and how well they did adapting the character to the art style.
-
I've been running Discordance, Ruin, Devour Hope and Brutal strength to decent success.
-
The Emblem and Pip system could definitely use some work, but I think it's because the objectives for the killer all kind of work into one another. Hook a survivor and you have points for brutality and chaser all from that one interaction. With 3 or even 2k you're probably going to end the match with the Gates closed which is Gold Emblem for gatekeeper I think. For a survivor to reliability pip up, they need at least a Gen, Totem, Unhook, Heal, and Chase I think. Each one is fairly compartmentalized which makes it harder to get to every one of those in a single match. If that makes any sense.
-
Yeah I hate to say it, but even I go for the easy target when I play killer. I'm not going to tunnel you off the hook if I can help it, but gotta go for who you can find, and who you can catch. You could try a more stealthy play style, which is what I do because I can't chase very well either, but sometimes it's just bad luck you turn the wrong corner at the wrong time. It definitely sounds like you're just getting matched up poorly. Playing with people more skilled is good, but too far beyond your own level and you don't even get a chance to improve because it's just over for you that quickly. Keep at it and keep trying to improve!
-
Got into a match against Ghost Face with my girlfriend on the Family Estate. 2 survivors died around the midgame, down to me and her, 1 gen to go, and both of us on death hook. Ghost Face downs and teabags me, goes to try to find her to slug. Can't find her. Comes back to me just as I finish recovering with unbreakable, at the same time she pops the last gen. Killer gives chase, and a quick juke around one of the gazebos puts me in the bamboo right under their nose and they still couldn't find me, which gave my girlfriend enough time to open the gate and escape, and I made a mad dash to the hatch. Not necessarily the most skillful play, but clutch nonetheless.
-
As a Killer, I love Dead Dawg Saloon especially as Trapper. As a Survivor, I love the Family Estate, that Bamboo cover had saved my ass more than a few times.

Devs prefer suicide on hook because at least the killer still gets points. It's not like a DC gives killers extra bp too...oh wait (I'm totally not salty that survivors don't get bp if someone DC's but killers do)
Isn't there a small "Abandoned" point notification? It's really small, but it's there, I think. Definitely not worth having to play the whole match a player down though.
-
Had this happen on PS4 last night. Got into a match with a friend. Everything seemed to load fine. But the game got stuck at the opening scene with the map title and just froze. Couldn't move, couldn't control the camera, just had to sit there watching my character breathe. Gave it 2 or 3 minutes before we disconnected, still go the penalty.

I might swap out TINH for PT if the team looks good in lobby but otherwise it's good for conserving tokens of stake out for emergencies.
This ends up either going two ways. I get tunneled because No Mither and give my team a free escape (if they aren't 100% braindead), or I absolutely destroy gens and help my team escape fast.
I only recently started playing David after a daily ritual for him came up and I have already found resilience meshes well with his perks. I just don't know how I feel spending the whole match injured
-
Welcome to the club. All I can say is define your own success as killer, the 12 hook goal is unrealistic in practice. For me 2 kills is an ok match, and I call 3 kills a solid win, especially if the last survivor only escapes because of the hatch. You really can judge the skill of players early from both sides. You have good common sense on picking your battles with Survivors, and I don't think I need to tell you what bait looks like and when to leave one alone. You're going to have unsatisfying games on both side, though I believe killers are more vulnerable to it because of how many ways Survivors have to actively taunt and generally be obnoxious. Sad to say that once you hit Green ranks it becomes more miss than hit on games where things are on the level and you end up running into more of the aforementioned behavior. As a Survivor, be a good teammate when you can, but I judge my Survivor wins on my own escape, hatch or otherwise. Be a good teammate as much as possible, but once those gates are open, all bets are off and playing hero for that late unhook can be extremely high risk high reward.
-
Based on power design conceptually or mechanically?
-
I play maybe a 60/40 Survivor/Killer split and honestly, both these perks come across as "Well #########" moments. As a Survivor, I cleanse any totem I come across for safety sake, but I'm not going out of my way to track down every last one. Solo or SWF, the minute NOED pops up, it's "Screw you guys, you're on your own" and I'm getting out as quick as I can. As a killer, I try not to camp, but some unhooks are just reckless and I try to go for the savior. Sometimes though, you just happen to walk up on the same one again and I'm not just going to ignore them. If they have DS, then I just brace myself to eat it, and tell myself at least they can't do it again, and they don't usually get very far anyway.
-
I'd be fine with some skill check based way to work around his dream snares, if he drops one at both exit gates you're kinda screwed, especially if the hatch has already been closed.
-
Maybe just a little skull next to the Gen counter that shows how many totems are left. Or maybe just an icon that will only appear after all 5 have been clensed?
-
I've seen moderate success with it as a killer, but as has been said you either need to pair it with another hex perk to cover it(Undying or maybe Haunted Ground) and it can come in clutch because not many people expect it. As a survivor when I see it pop up things do get tense, and I like that in a match.
-
It definitely sucks, and when I play survivor, I try to play with more sportsmanship than that and leave immediately, unless I stop to heal someone for those last few points. I have run into this as a killer quite a bit. I had a match where the Gates had been open for maybe 15-20 seconds if that, and I was in the middle of the map and 2 survivors came all the way out to teabag and flashlight click just to taunt. What I do is go to the center of the map or as far from the gates as you can and just afk. Every so often, you'll get a Survivor that gets a little too careless. I have had 2 separate occasions where a survivor was automatically sacrificed because they forgot about the timer, and one very lucky match as The Trapper where a survivor caught themselves in a in a bear trap and I got a late basement hook. It's rare it goes that well, but it's immensely satisfying when it does. Late game perks like NOED and Blood Warden will help too.

Am I the only one whom would run the killer for like 3 or 4 gens and then be downed after the last gen... proceed to die on hook, whilst a Nea tbag the exit gates with 10k blood points.
no one else just me ?
ok 😂
Unfortunately, it very often leaves you in a very unlucky position, by that point, most killers know they're not going to win the match so they grasp at what kill they can get, usually targeting either whoever is at hand, or had been irritating them the most that match, both of which end up being the person who ran them the entire match. I would say that's more on your teammates letting you down though.

@dspaceman20 said:
Why don't survivors get points for running the killer each gen? Isn't that like a distraction points
The point and emblem systems could both use some tweaks, or at least some in game tracking so you know where you stand in each category. I honestly can't tell what the game classifies as Distraction even when I get points for it.
-
I run Prove Thyself, Left Behind, Self Care, and either Dark Sense or Kindred. Works well to cover all bases so I'm able to help the team, but still have myself covered and an emergency exit.
-
@IceCreamPrincess said:
Assuming you have access to every perk in the game:
Kindred: lets you know when to get off the gen and go unhook. Also tells you if the killer saw you on bbq and is beelining to you
Spinechill: still yet to play a match without it, its just so versatile. Just don't be that guy who hides in a bush if it lights up once
Sprint Burst/Dead Hard: its a matter of preference really, but an exhaustion perk is just too useful to not run
Decisive Strike: cuz if you're going solo, you can't always trust your teammates aint gonna farm you
(Since DS is getting nerfed, replacement for it)
WGLF/Iron will: both perks fit that 4th perk slot nicely, and i aint a fan of borrowed time so they're the next best things
So those perks, then just grab a medkit or a map. Medkits are just stupid useful, and maps are a nice bonus. Keys are also good, but kind of slap a target on your back. Flashlights are just bait
I have access to most since I'm putting them on P3 Dwight, any that I don't I'll just put points into whichever survivors they belong to. I know the danger of a key, but I suck at using Flashlights and play enough as the killer to know damn well to ignore any survivors carrying them.
-
@C3Tooth said:
I guess u're new to the game, since there is no exhaustion perk (or may be because u're great at chasing)
My build is Windows of Op + Lithe to help me in chase.
Kindred is always needed. Because of this, I usually willing to take a hook for others (especially when they already have 2 hooks)
Small game to prevent Ruin, Noed.
As long as I have Lithe ready, I can sit Gen injured.
Been playing about a year. I'd say I'm *decent* at chasing, but it's still my weakest point so I rely more on stealth.

Oh I see. Honestly I always followed to survivors lead on it. I never went looking to do it was more when 1 or 2 survivors had died, or dc/suicides. Not right at beginning of game never did that. if they do it at beginning you should play normally (well the rules say always play normally).
Yeah, I would always try to get boop first, then once most of them had, I would go away for a bit then start actively playing the match, but if nobody would then I'd play normal from the getgo.

I never played serious after until I learned nurse. My heart will never heal from that and every survivor I play better bring there A game because I have never played this tryhard until now. I have never been able to slug and watch for 4 minutes and now i'll grab a piece of cheesecake and smile at you crawl. Mmm GOOD.
Well I meant more as in actually putting an effort into the match and not playing for the meme after I get it out of the way.
-
I honestly did pretty well with Legion running their unique perks(Iron Maiden, Discordance, Mad Grit)plus Iron Grasp. Not very meta but it got the job done. Mad Grit came in handy more often than I thought it would with people trying to body block hooks, and either a lot of people forget about Iron Maiden or are just willing to take the risk. Only thing I could really complain about was their poor lethality in that you can't down Survivors during Frenzy, but as long as you could hold line of sight it wasn't hard to work around.

When she is crouched and the survivors crouch up to her and tap her snoot (nose). It would make for a casual game before I went throught the process of learning nurse. Now I tear through everything that moves, snoots, breaths, stinks, sweats, unhooks, or repairs a gen. ;)
Love doing this as The Pig, but is it considered rude to play normally afterwards? Like if I can get at least 2 or 3 Survivors to boop, then I start playing seriously.
-
I don't run into full bully squads that often so much as one annoying PoS. If I can tell I'm outmatched and the doors are open. I walk away and essentially afk so they don't get the satisfaction. Occasionally, you can snag an extra kill from one that gets a little too cocky a little too far from the gates. Enjoy those times.

Exactly. Short, sweet, and to the point. It's like Min/Max-ing in an RPG or Deck Builder.

@Mandy said:
The data is being collected as we speak, the system has been active in the background purely collecting data for quite some time. It might need a few matches to fully "settle in" from a matchmaking point of view (on this I am not completely sure)...but nobody will be starting from a score of 0, it should be fairly accurate very early on.
We will obviously communicate more information on the system prior to it going Live, and any questions you have, feel free to direct them to me and I will do my best to get answers at that time.
That's good to hear the data is already being collected and analyzed to make a smoother roll out. I understand full implementation is still a ways off, but it definitely looks good on paper so far.
-
@Mandy said:
A players individual skill score won't be known to them or to anyone else firstly. It's something that will be kept hidden and it will be used for matchmaking purposes only - Ranks won't be used at all for this once this skill score is implemented, but I believe they will still be visible.
I don't believe that the conditions for increasing/decreasing the score will also be made public (but I could be wrong on this, but I don't expect so), at least not at the initial stage.
Whether or not the scores are public information I don't think will have that profound of an effect as long as players know the system is in place and have trust in it. It does raise the question of once the metrics of gathering the data are set, will there be a period of time that said data will be collected before scores are implemented so that players of relatively equal skill will be put into matches accordingly from the start? Or will there be a period of chaos where all players effectively have a MMR score of zero and people of wildly different skill are matched with each other until enough data is gathered?
-
@Terro said:
I just wanna note that the players don't know exactly how it'll work. What we do know is that survivors have a MMR separate from killers. Every killer has their own separate MMR for each individual killer so if you main trapper and switch to hag, your hag MMR is lower than trapper. I think SWF takes the average MMR of the players.
What we can assume of MMR is that it takes metrics from your past games and comes up with a number signifying your skill level. How it does that or what metrics it looks at we don't exactly know.
Each Killer having their own MMR I think will be really good. Even though a lot of basic skills transfer, starting a brand new killer with one perk and no add-ons does kinda suck.
-
Matchmaking and Queue times have a lot to do with it. So you can be a rank 17 or 16 killer and get put in a game with rank 12, 10, or 8 Survivors because that group had been waiting for a while. The game itself does have a learning curve that I would classify as steep. Playing as a Survivor has the advantage have been able to play with friends that can teach you as you go, which killers don't have(let's not get any deeper into the SWF debate on here though). This makes it more frustrating to get started as a killer than survivor, which in turn creates a barrier to entry that I would describe as Mild to Moderate. So the pool of available killers is not growing as quickly as the pool of survivors. Take this all with grain of salt though as these are all inferences I have made from my personal play experience of about a year or so, and I have no statistical data to back this up.
-
Playing Survivor on PS4 with my girlfriend. Long story short, killer messaged us GG, thanked us for sticking out the match, and called out the poor teammates we had on their crap. Even apologized for the fact she got to 2nd state on her first hook with almost no pressure because our only remaining teammate spent the whole time on a generator while I was in a chase. I seldom see that kind of sportsmanship and general pleasantries. It's the little things.
-
It really depends. I usually run 2 or 3 man SWF with my girlfriend and another friend. It's a sense of comfort in knowing that someone has your back and you won't be left to hang as an expendable 4th, or occasionally having someone ask if there is a map you want to go to because they have a ton of offerings to get rid of, or something of the sort.. It does help more substantially in some cases than others. I played as a 4 man once with several red ranked Survivors I had actually just finished facing as a killer and it was ok but not quite as enjoyable as playing with real friends. I've never really been part of a sweat squad though per se.
-
Also, is it impolite to play normally after getting boop?
-
I started using her because of a daily ritual. It usually takes a couple matches to finish them if you haven't used them much before(which I hadn't), so by the time you've got what you wanted you keep playing because it's something different and run with it.
-

Why can't people just leave when the exit gates are open rather than make noises to attract the killers attention then keep doing so even tho the killer is miles away just leave no one cares that you beat them just go rather than delay the game further.
I have a thread I posted a while ago that involves this talking about when taunting goes wrong. What you do is turn this on them. Run perks like NOED, Blood Warden, or whatever late game perks you like. Walk away from the exit gates and AFK. Worst case scenario is you have 3 minutes to look at your phone or something until they leave, best case scenario, you get some overly cocky PoS that gets reckless and takes it a bit too far and you can snag an extra kill. Again drop by that thread and take a look at the stories people have, might make you feel better and give you some ideas.

I had streamed this match right when I started on Twitch, unfortunately before I learned how to export streams to YT -- I wish I had the recording still.
Playing as The Shape on a farm map -- I was still relatively new to the game, and on a Friday night, I was facing a full-on red rank 4-person SWF (despite being yellow rank at the time). It took forever to find someone, and I ended up in a fruitless chase with an Ace who was clearly WAY better than me. Now, I'd abandon the chase to go after someone else, but inexperienced me wouldn't give up on the Ace. Gens started popping, the Ace was teabagging and pointing at every pallet he dropped as he led me around the map. I had leveled up almost to Tier 3, but I couldn't do anything right. With one gen left, I had no downs, and I just gave up and parked myself by the exit near the killer shack. Another survivor, one of two Claudettes, joins the Ace in vault/locker spamming near me. Final gen pops, and I open the gate myself and just stand there, a sliver away from finally hitting Tier 3, but just ready for the match to end.
Even with the gates open, the Claudette and the Ace (who was injured) wouldn't leave, but kept teabagging away while the other Claudette and David were in the vicinity. At this point, I haven't moved for a good bit, other than to open the gate. The Ace walks right up to me and teabags again, assuming (I'm guessing) that I've just gone AFK at this point. Aggravated, I swing and actually down him. My guess now is that he had DS and someone on the team had BT (it's been long enough ago that I can't remember), so they likely assumed a rescue would be no problem, even with one of them headed to a hook, and that they all could BM me in the exit gates once they got Ace off the hook.
I carry the Ace as far into the map as I can to hook him, and I stay right there. I NEVER camp, but I'm making sure this Ace dies. Then, the Claudette who had been BM'ing with him tries to run in for the save. I pop my Tier 3 and down her on the vault by the Pig tree. I leave her slugged and wait. I see the other Claudette approaching from the side, go after her, and down her as well, now guarding the hooked Ace and the two slugs. I see David trying to run in for the unhook, cut him off, and then chase him down and flatten him just before my Tier 3 runs out. No one had Unbreakable, so I collected the slugs and got the last one hooked for the 4K just before the EGC finished. What should have been me getting stomped into the ground turned into the most satisfying 4K I might ever have, simply because winning easily and leaving wasn't enough for this group -- they had to try to add salt into the wound and be poor sport winners -- it ended up with them all dying, and I couldn't have been happier, lol.
Never mess around with an insta-down killer, no matter how bad you think they might be. You might find your whole team decimated in the process.
Knowing the pain of being a yellow rank killer getting matched with a full red SWF, that may be *the* most satisfying story I have ever heard. Bravo for you! You deserved that moment of glory!

I run Blood Warden specifically for the jerk survivor situation. It doesn't come in handy often but when it does...
Had a foursome v Oni. Jerks gonna jerk as they sit at the gate so I wander away as usual. One of them gets cute though and finds a pallet to slide on repeatedly.
I find enough blood to go into Hulk Smash mode and run back. He times it poorly and Hulk Smash. The other 3 swarm me as I pick him up and get him off the hook ASAP....with about 35 sec or so left in EGC. 35 glorious seconds of me just shaking my head no as the four of them realize they done goofed bad...
Three messages in my inbox later and it was great. Two LOL'ed and thought it was hilarious but #3 was soooooo salty, I think my heart got damaged. It was awesome.
At least 2 of them had a sense of humor and an ounce of respect for running that perk.

When I got to the hatch he was standing right on top of it, so I couldn't get in. Then he kicks the hatch closed in my face and decloaks.
As he does I take out the key I fished from the chest right beneath where he stood and jumped in the hatch.
I bet he left the endgame chat instantly so he wouldn't have to bear with my gloating.
Did not know keys could still open the hatch after the killer closed it, I'll have to keep that in mind. Bravo.
