tapping a gen shouldnt remove DS it should make it lose its time like 8x faster or like 12% faster while doing something that currently removes it this would allow you to tap a generator but you wopuld lose it fast for working on it. Tapping a generator is strategic if you pallet stun and there is a gen around like (2m) i would 99.9% of the times go for a .1sec tap to stop it from regressing now tell me why that should break an perk made for anti tunneling? and give me a good reason why you shouldn't be able to tap a generator while getting chased in this case tunneled... now i dont hear survivors crying about noed. Now i understand that DS isnt really skillbased which is pretty sad but just the tapping thing really bugs me. I dont see a reason why you shouldnt be able to tap a generator. right now its possible to have a generator regress for 50 sec because you couldnt tap it and teammates are doing other gens i understand if working on it removes DS fine but being on it for half a second doenst mean that u arent getting tunneled!

    no.

How are you guys liking not getting hit by ridiculous bull crap decisive strikes? 🤣

I'm okay with it, I play both sides. If I really am getting tunneled as a survivor I can still use it. and if I give people a little space as a killer I'm a lot less likely to get hit by it. yeah in some games the change feels a bit rough as survivor but most of the time it's really not.

  • They may change the models but then people will just complain and they'll switch them back. look at the animations, they tried to do more realistic movement but then people couldn't quick turn and 360 as easy, complained and they changed it back.

  • @fr0sty1223 said:

All I’m seeing lately from killers is face camping and hard tunneling along with them trying to hold the game hostage and anytime any survivor escapes they start sending messages to every survivor on the team telling them to kill themselves, that they suck, and that they are horrible human beings. It’s gotten to the point where I don’t want to play this game anymore since the killer mains can’t seem to act like anything but 12 year old children that think they deserve everything in the world. It’s even more depressing that this isn’t just happening at the los ranks but at red ranks too as I am a rank 1 survivor and still see this behavior from rank 1 killers constantly.

the same goes for survivors too. when playing both sides I see it all. No Survivors don't get a free pass. the killers are being crazy too. I'm thinking it's because of the new chapter maybe it will calm down.

  • yeah I know but it would be a huge shocker if they actually did it. they said in a live stream that they're sometimes looking for the out of the box licenses they could get but I won't hold my breath.

I had this last match as well (ps5) except at the very bottom of the stairs.

The survivor had their head in the wall and i couldn't pick up :(

yup I'm playing on PS5 too.

they really need to fix these bugs. they may seem minor but if people are knowingly taking advantage of them like in my case it's a big deal.

The sad thing is, DbD has had the World of Warcraft effect on the asymmetrical genre. It's the king of the hill, and many of its players feel locked into it due to the grind and time commitment it took them to get anywhere with it. Why would they jump ship and start all over again in a new asymmetrical game, and lose all that grinding time and progress?

The same thing happened to MMOs with World of Warcraft. It rapidly became the King of the Hill in that industry, and people put in a lot of time, grind, and progression into their characters. New MMOs came out trying to capture some of that success, and far too many were considered failures by the respective studios. Oh, they might have gotten WoW players to try their game, but they weren't staying. They already had too much committed to WoW, itself.

And, those who did leave WoW apparently didn't jump to a new MMO. They jumped to a new game genre entirely. Hell, MMOs were my main gaming genre from 1999-2016.

And what happened? The MMO graveyard filled up, and now the genre is not what it used to be. And very, very few big studios even consider doing an MMO anymore. It's considered too high risk.

DbD is slowly having the same affect on the asymmetrical genre. DbD players feel locked in, the genre isn't pulling in a plethora of new blood outside of DbD MSRP sales, and DbD isn't exactly good at new player retention if Steam numbers a month or two after a sale are any indication. And with nothing else really out there with a player base, those players are heading back to the RPGs, shooters, battle royales, or MOBAs that they came from.

That's very true. If another game like Friday the 13th comes along that has as much respect and love of the franchise as that game had put into it. I would Drop DBD in heartbeat with no regrets.

  • I can move it there yes, and I'll even add video proof give me a minute

  • @Pulsar said:

That is a very big wall of text.

However, I agree. If we aren't going to make any big changes because the PTB playerbase is too small, then why are we using the PTB in the first place?

The Devs could easily expand it to Consoles. I'm pretty sure Sea of Thieves has a PTB, Overwatch does and so does PUBG. That's an easy way to at least double the amount of players participating in the PTB.

Yeah and people still say this game is great and other games like it were bad and terrible and that's why they didn't last. yes some of them were bad. some weren't but just because by some miracle at this point DBD survives doesn't make it a great game. mind you the person in question was a fog whisperer so they kind of have to suck up to the game.

Back in the day, killer adept was a simple 4K.

Because of how mori worked back then, it was changed to merciless. (mori could be done right off hook and be done)

Since the changes to the pip system, it is now quite difficult to get merciless (esp at red ranks).

Additionally, mori now are only after 2nd hook.

Please, BHVR, revert the achievements for adept killer to a simple 4K, just like survivors simply have to escape. Let's see some actual balance please.

I agree. The way the game is right now a 4K with the three basic perks should be enough

  • @Demodoggie_isgoodboi said:

I swear to god if I get one more Rank 2 killer who is desperate enough to tunnel and hook camp just to get rank 1 and use a Killer like the Doctor one more time im going to break something.

And of course, its someone who is throwing a tantrum over gens 3 gens being done after 3 hooks, without playing Gen Pressure or Perks at ALL.

and I hate teabagging survivors who taunt when I play killer. even if I have a bad round which is getting more and more common now. they still taunt like children. The devs are cool with this so not much we can do on either side

  • @Mandy said:

You cannot opt out of the chat filter, it's on by default for all users.

I play on console so I don't have to worry about end game chat. I just block users who insult me.

However there really should be an option to turn it off if a user chooses too. At the same time if they turn it off they're not allowed to complain about being told off

  • This game will not get Jason any time soon trust me.

  • @Name_Unavailable said:

No it because Survivors see this as a game and play for fun, and Killers see this as a job and play for the 4k.

not all killers see it that way. I play both sides and I try to play for fun as killer but I get taunted and abused for it.

  • @Dizzy1096 said:

  • as a rank 18 killer I get mostly lower ranks and some high ranks sprinkled in there.

    it's not fun sometimes.

  • I've got two of those

the first one was after a game against Myers I simply said

    "Michael !!!!!!!!!!!"

    they're response

    *Tilts head*

the other was playing against a killer named Rusty Shackleford

    I said

    "Well played Dale"

and they just said. "At least someone got it"

  • why are people complaining about the hatch when there are other annoyances in the game. like ummm Dead Hard. that needs to go.

It'll definitely slow the game down because people will have more incentive to cleanse totems.

Star struck isn't a hex. it's the perk where if he's carrying someone and you're in his terror radius you become exposed.

  • The only thing I'm not looking forward to is the fact that every killer in the game is going to start using star struck. it will be a mess.

  • for me it would be

    Unbreakable and spine chill.

I mean sure you can force someone to use unbreakable early sometimes but it's annoying has no real counter play.

and spine chill well I've gotten used to listening for the terror radius to know if a killer is coming, If they're stealth I keep my eyes peeled the best I can. so spine chill really doesn't change my game too much. haven't used it in a long time .

But if you have ds at the start of the match and you spawned next to a gen and repair it does ds turn off?

no since DS only activates after you come off a hook. and just because it deactivates doesn't mean you can't use it later if you are getting tunneled down.

  • @Sluzzy said:

How many counters does a perk need? Since killers didn’t know how to play around the perk it will now have the most ways to disable itself than any other perk in the game.  Pretty much paralyzing the survivor to keep it. As difficult as it is for the survivor to complete objectives this is a huge set back. Most matches there is little hope. Killers have nothing to do but one objective while survivors have to do several and on top of that punished for doing anything where killer perks completely changes the game. Now survivor perks punish for playing the game.

A perk “Nothing to be afraid of” is really the opposite now. More afraid of losing it and needing it when a spirit phases all the way back and tunnel.  Was it forgotten that being a survivor you should try to heal yourself if you are injured? What benefit is it to have good med kits? It should be fair game to try to heal yourself and not worry with losing a perk. Not to mention trying to help your team. Now Bubba will be stronger in the basement because BT does nothing to him, DS you could maybe unhook someone and have a chance for only one to get out. An unnecessary buff where Bubba didn't need it because there is no counterplay to killers like Bubba.

It was nerfed way too much to benefit only killers and make their game easier than it already is with nothing added to it to help survivors. Like the least that could have been done was to stop the timer if someone is being chased or slugged on the ground. I thought 1-time use perks should be powerful, not very weak and catering to the other side so much. Undying was a busted perk and it won the killer the game, yet it still got huge counter buffs when it was nerfed. DS is only a 1-time use perk and it can really only be used by a facecamping killer now and that assumes that they don’t slug.  It is ridiculous decisive strike will be so situational and only useable if killer plays a specific way and can still prevent it from being used by slugging.  Lets be sure killers can abuse it. The decisive strike nerfs were rushed and for only to entertain killers.

It's not unfairly nerfed. If I'm playing a round as killer and I down you while you're healing someone or you take someone off a hook right in my face and I down you no more free escape. I understand it's frustrating but as survivors we've used DS as crutch quite a lot. I've done it too. BT is to protect someone coming off a hook so they have a chance to run. and sometimes yeah killers can be jerks and camp a hook but then you don't go in and get stuff done.

It will just take some adjustments but if you're truly being tunneled off a hook DS will still do it's job.

I don't know why people are so upset about it at this point.

  • @VSchmitt said:

With time you get a thicker skin... Especially when you learn not to abide by survivors' rules.

and if you're having a bad run as killer take a breather and come back in about an hour or two. that's what I'm doing.

and he's right don't follow survivor rules at all because that's all they are. I've tried to follow them the best I can but I'm at a point now where I'm giving up on that. because as a killer you're damned if you do and you're damned if you don't. you get the same responses either way.

  • It's right back to the survivor sweat squads as soon as they turned off MMR. the ones the lower their rank to face low rank killers. three matches in a row now I've had people DC and just try so hard. so that I can't do anything.

  • @Zozzy said:

I played on trapper who i never play and got a 4 man cheat squad. all r1.

got to love it when you get those.

    Cheating killers are annoying too.

  • @Sangotunk said:

For me it was an absolute disaster as a survivor, i get matched with potatoes in very unfun games (a freddy who slugged and let bleed everyone at 5 gens and a hardcore tunneling bubba) but it was good as a killer since the mmr worked as intended

playing as survivor I was teamed with people who didn't have a clue what they were doing, sandbagging, teaming killers. and as killer I went against people who were afraid to play the game and hid in unreachable spots the entire time and others who gen rushed like crazy. The maps I played on didn't help either. I don't main a killer so I can't say I'm good with a specific one.

  • Playing as survivor it's alright, but playing as killer it didn't change a thing. I was still stuck with teams that played toxic and took every advantage they could. mind you I was playing as pyramid head and I really don't have a main killer.

if you're a low level killer the MMR didn't help at all.

I think I played my worst match ever. I've never seen survivors so afraid of death that they will sit in a place you can't hit them anytime you come close and one even stayed there the entire game knowing I couldn't hit him. I let the entity get him and it was funny the hatch spawned right next to him but he wasn't getting that. and no matter what the skill level gen rushing is still a thing.

  • @Mandy said:

As of 2pm EDT Skill based matchmaking was introduced, so please disregard Ranks for the next 24hrs because they're not necessarily going to correlate to the MMR score.

is this a permeant thing across all platforms or is it another test? I really want to know so I can tell fellow players who don't frequent the forums.

    thanks Mandy

I can speak for the console killers, I was one of them on ps4, sadly ps4 killers do not care for the other side's fun anymore with all the hatemails that people send daily.

Do not take it personally, sometimes killers confuse the survivor, lets say that you both are playing identical Ash sometimes they won't know who is who until getting hit by DS.

Also, today has been more "salty" for me as well, I've been playing nice all night and still get hate for it.

It's not just console survivors or killers.

Some PC killers and survivors don't care, they will stomp you because they can and they don't care if you have fun or not. and the 360's PC survivors demanded they be able to do are annoying to someone who uses a controller.

at least console players are far less likely to cheat, I've seen a lot of PC players on both sides doing a lot of it lately.

  • this is just my opinion but a lot of the challenges are poorly designed and some repeats from tomes past.

I don't like the ones that feel like they're their just to annoy killers and or make survivors into easy targets.

    • stun pallet stun the killer 4 times in one match.
    • reset a pallet within 10 meters of the killer

I got the second by luck alone, and the first I had to play really badly and make stupid moves to get 4 stuns in one match.

on the killer side getting gold devout emblems can be a pain when you have two survivors intentionally DC on you.

I feel like the drop in survivors was more because of the desync hits than the animation, but either way you’re right this was definitely developers caving in to pressure from survivors once again.

It was a really, really dumb move. 360’s are just survivors wanting safety 100% of the time. Another second chance stacked on top of all the other second chances.

”but but 360’s only hurt bad killers!”

And thats the problem. Videogames are like a company, there’s turnover. Old players leave and new ones join. You’re going to constantly need new people to stop your game numbers declining from the old ones leaving but more importantly to actually grow your playerbase. Survivor queue times are at an all time high and here was a chance to remove one of the mechanics that frustrates new players and they wouldn’t do if.

Am I saying new killers quit because of 360’s alone? No, but the point is its one of many frustrating mechanics and its one that they had removed and later put back in. All so that when the matchmaking throws out its garbage or the swf get a smurf some red rank can do a few 360 click click 360 click click plays for their YouTube montage.

Meanwhile watch survivors rage about queue times and killers lobby dodging (the only killers left arent willing to face your 3 toolbox and a key swf on coldwind)

this right here. the reason the survivors dropped was because of the terrible hit detection. that's the main reason. the 360's are the second. I'm not the worst killer but I'm far form the best. I play survivor too and I'm better on that side. but it felt to me that people want to 360 just be annoying among many other things and the fact that they couldn't do it with 100% reliability they didn't like it

  • could have I just wasn't in the mood to deal with it. so i just walked away and let them win

Past 3 days it's been nothing but haddonsfield, corn maps, gideon meat plant, and 2nd chance perks. How are killers supposed to have fun when the survivors want full control at all times? Let me pick freddy and slap on a dead dawg saloon offering, I'll get called trash and boring.

I agree with that however on the other side, Killers don't care if survivors have fun either. we all have challenges to do right now on both sides and most of the time the other side doesn't give a damn. I hear you on the last part too. If I play a game as killer and I'm just playing for fun and not really trying I get called trash and a noob as well If I go for challenges as survivor I get accused of throwing games. you can't win.

Personal opinion; people take this game far to seriously.

  • I'm only at level 41 on the rift. I think I can get it done in time if I do all the challenges. and play a bit after that.

I'm only going to buy the pass when I reach level 70 though that way I get it all and if I don't I won't feel like I've wasted money.

I also heard that after the first 2 tomes they made getting through the rift harder. don't quote me on it I could be wrong .

  • As both killer and survivor, I'm tired of players who take the game way to serious to begin with. Tunneling, teabagging going out of their way to be annoying and then getting upset when you need to use tactics they don't like to win.

  • I'm at 40 in the rift right now. If I hit 70 only then will I get the rift pass. though I will say the free track is a joke 40 levels and 11 rewards total.

  • @NekoGamerX said:

I say no I want the PC one taken out because of how toxic this community is.

I agree with this answer too.

Everyone should be able to do it or no one should be able to do it at all.

  • I've run into a few in the past little while. it's not just survivors, it's killers too. A lot of face and proxy camping. as a killer I try not to do that but if an unhook notification goes off I'm heading over there.

part of it could be because the rank reset happened today. I'm really looking forward to when all ranks reset to 20, then rank will truly no longer matter.

I'm almost tempted to ask the devs at their next Q&A if they intended to create a game where some of the community take matches so seriously that it sucks the fun right out of them? let me clarify a bit; I'm not saying being good at the game is bad, that's actually damn awesome and I can respect a killer that stomps my team and a team that can outplay me as killer. it's the attitude that gets to me.

people saying GGEZ or get good, or Trash killer when they beat you. and if they loose to you they do the same thing sometimes worse.

I can see why they didn't want to add the chat box thanks to toxicity, but they're adding a chat filter now. Don't see what's wrong with giving us the chat box now? It would probably stop toxic people from filling up other people's dms.

hell yeah, I've been bombarded a few times by twitch streamers and just toxic people in general in my DMs and I don't want to have to create parties with them just to talk and I don't want to block all communication just to stop a few toxic idiots.

  • I read your first post and you're right it's harder for console players to 360 as both survivor and killer. if I turn my camera up too high I won't be able to stay on target well enough. That's why when they changed the animations and 360s became more difficult I was happy. the field seemed a bit more level. But of course people complained about not being able to do them anymore and the switched some of the animations back. I play on console with PC players and yeah at least one of them hates console players and swears by 360's and needs them to be any good. I've played on PC too. so no I'm not in any way attacking PC players. I hate that you have to block yourself on console to avoid toxic stuff. I won't do it because it's too much of a hassle. but so many do so you can't even talk to them. I will criticize dirty game play but I never out and out attack anyone.

console should have the same end game chat that PC does now that there are dedicated servers. you can't even have fun interactions on console without having to go through hoops to do it.

If you're going to have cross play as an option the chat should be too.

  • I've had the same issue. As a survivor I get picked up in seconds. but when I'm a killer the survivor disappears before I can get them after the down sometimes.

I don't think the killers should stop moving when they clean off their weapons. I get not being able to hit but hitting a survivor shouldn't penalize you it sometimes does.

  • It's survive with friends sided for sure. communication is a big part of it, solos can't do that and as for killers you're on your own so yeah.

most of the "rules" that are in place were put there by survivor players not the game devs. so it feels more killer sided then it actually is.

and toxicity on both sides doesn't help, either both side go out of their way to make the game annoying for the other.

today I was just doing rift stuff and I wasn't even trying hard to do well as a killer and I was called a noob and told that I sucked and that I tunneled you name it. I was just going for hooks I didn't care if anyone died or not.

what bugs me the most is that some people take this game 100% serious and they really shouldn't.

  • it's okay man, when I play killer I go for streamers right of the bat. I know it may seem mean but I'm not playing the game to entertain someone else's stream and most of the time streamers play as toxic as possible. (not all of them but most that I've seen.) and I've taken a lot of crap for it.

Then they go off on you for being toxic tunneling but it's okay for them to do whatever they want. Also don't take anything anyone says in endgame chat seriously. the people who attack are only trying to wind people up.
