Most strategy’s are fairly counter able but breakdown right now is just annoying
Counter able? Absolutely, they are still intentionally going into the game with the mindset of "We are going to try and make this killer's game miserable for our own amusement". For example, Head on squads can be dealt with if you know what you're doing. However, it's tremendously frustrating to face, at least for me. Every chase becomes more tense because you have to watch out for lockers in case their buddy is in one of them which means you're less focused on the actual chase. By head on stun 3 or 4, I'm basically just sick of the game. It totally can be countered, it just turns the game into a total slog to get through. It's incredibly rare for me, I actually only face 'toxic' squads every now and then and I (luckily) haven't seen a head on squad in months. Nonetheless, it's a bit disheartening to play against when it does happen, I won't lie.

I love fighting SWF as it’s great practice for whatever killer I’m playing
Facing swfs can be fun sometimes for the extra challenge. Facing one of those swfs who focus solely on making your experience miserable is pretty tiresome though I won't lie e.g. Breakdown abuser squads and to a lesser extent, head on squads (Man I hate Head on so much, lol).

This 4 man swf all ran Object and were so toxic it was physically making me angry all match they'd just sit and tea bag while flashlight clicking and since they knew where all my traps were they knew where to run since all of them had object and in the chance I'd injure them theyd heal 40 meters away from me knowing I was powerless to stop them. So they ended up 4 genning themselves and I DID get the 4k since I got one in basement and well 2 traps with a hag in basement is a death sentence. But in the end game chat they sent me a lot of hate and called ME boring to play against and said my life sucked so I just wanna know like...why are they so mad at me? They were extremely awful all game and played the most toxic unfun build. Thank god hag exists, any other killer I would've gotten demolished.
The real question is why do you care? It is not your job to make sure the survivors have a jolly old time. You killed them in-game and they cried about it like spoilt children. You're not their parent so I say ignore it. They were trying to get on your nerves from the beginning in the first place so they clearly only have the maturity of a 3 year old.

As someone who regularly plays Blight, I agree that there are few things more frustrating then being screwed over by Blight's broken collision, especially in a situation where a hit might've been possible otherwise. I don't think your idea is bad necessarily. I honestly just think he doesn't need it. If the Devs finally figured out how to perfect his bump system then he'd be perfectly fine in my opinion. When he works, he's really good. He just gets robbed of hits a helluva lot due to bad design around his bump collision.

not very convincing really
I mean... She is OP. That's why basically everyone thinks she's the best killer. Literally the only thing preventing her from being nerfed again is that she's hard to learn. There's essentially zero counterplay to a good Nurse, which seems kinda OP to me ngl.

Can't. My phone isn't good enough it seems. Also, I don't think it's available on Android.

Blight and Jeff is who I'd keep. Their perks are garbage for the most part. I mean, Undying is alright when paired with any actually good hex and aftercare is fun in solo que or in a swf without comms. No teachables from other killers though so... not great. Still, I love these characters. Even in spite of the many bugs he has, Blight is just so much fun and Jeff is simply the best survivor. If you disagree then I'm very sorry but you're wrong.

Love playing as him and against him. He's on the weaker side against competent teams though, especially if there's any lag.

Is there anyone who’s experienced enough with the game’s code to confirm if the bonus progression applies without a token? Because if it does I genuinely might level up Tapp to get it. I want to be absolutely sure though. Measuring the amount of pixels on the screen isn’t really 100% proof that it’s actually the case and I don’t want to pump hundreds of thousands of bloodpoints into Tapp only to realise the OP was incorrect. Btw if you’re reading this OP, I’m not calling you a liar. I just want to be absolutely sure. If you are right then I apologise and I thank you for spreading the word about this.

For the past few months, I've been looking for Second Wind on the Shrine of Secrets. After looking into it more, I discovered there are many perks that have never seen the shrine. These include older perks such as Trail of Torment and Second Wind, all the way to new perks like Smash Hit and Starstruck. In comparrison, there are some perks that have been on the Shrine many times over like Enduring which has been shown 20 times. Right behind that is Agitation shown 18 times. I'm interested in knowing what decides the perks that appear on the Shrine, be it an algorithm or a person choosing them. I'm also knowing if some of these perks that haven't been shown before will ever be shown, and when.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/8EE7TYLD4ORQ/proof-png.png
I’m kind of under the impression that the perks are chosen by an employee or employees over at Behaviour (It would explain why perks on the shrine are usually garbage and even when good perks show up, they’re usually from characters who are already free). BBQ has been in the game since 2017 and it’s only shown up 5 times according to the shrine of secrets archive*. I really don’t think that’s just bad luck. Ignoring my tin foil hat conspiracy for a moment, it may well just be an algorithm that randomly chooses perks.

Weakest: It depends, if we’re talking no add ons then maybe Trapper or Pig? With add-ons, I’d say the weakest is Trickster
Strongest: Nurse of course. A good Nurse can essentially ignore all survivor defences. If you get good with her then you basically stop playing Dead by daylight. You instead start playing the Nurse spin off game where you slaughter the survivors easily every game.

NOED & dead hard NEED a rework
I would make dead hard only works for basic attacks so you cant dodge hatchets or deathslinger's shot
And for NOED i would make it for every hook you get you gain a token up to 4/5/6 tokens and in the endgame downing a survivor will consume 1 token and all survivors would be exposed
How do you suggest they code it to only work on basic attacks? Keep in mind this is the same dev team which didn’t want to add keyboard and mouse support for console because it’d be ‘too hard’ to do.

Ghostface is stronger, but I cannot vote for him. I just can't.
Why? Ghostface is objectively the better stealth killer. Pig is the only one who goes slower then survivors whilst stealthed. As a result, she can’t traverse the map while stealthy like the other stealth killers. Her stealth is mainly reserved for if she thinks a survivor is nearby
- Even when he doesn’t need the stealth, Wraith can still benefit from his stealth thanks to it’s mobility
- Ghostface can basically use his power whenever he wishes with zero downsides besides the cool-down and he can insta down.
- Myers starts out slow but gets normal killer movement speed in tier 2. In tier 2 he’s stealthier then the average killer and can insta down in tier 3.
In comparison, Pig has very little going for her. Her ambush can’t really be used against good survivors and her stealth is tremendously mediocre. She basically is just an M1 killer with built in slow down, lol.
-
I would say Ghostface. Simply because his reveal mechanic is just straight up broken half the time, for both sides. He honestly needs to have his reveal mechanic ironed out because few things are more frustrating for me then when you literally stare into that man’s very soul and yet somehow, fail to break him out of stealth.

The text is to long so i will answer the title.
Gen speed is fine what is hell for killer is the normal regression after a kick and the fact survivor can gen tap to remove the regression.
Maybe add an animation when survivor start working on a gen it could take the same amount of time as a kick. This will fix the survivor working on a gen in front of the killer because the gen is 99 so maybe the killer will be able to deny the gen to get done if the survivor is alone on it.
Why would you even comment if you didn’t read the post? That seems completely nonsensical.

Ok...
My mind is spinning here.
Since Gideon Meat Plant’s rework it’s been a semi frequent topic posted here, killers complaining about the amount of pallets on this map.
And I just don’t get it.
What exactly is bothering many of you with these pallets?!
Yes, there Is a large overall volume of pallets.
Yes, Gideon probably also has the highest amount of “god pallets”/pallets that absolutely HAVE to be kicked/broken in the entire game.
But do you know what else this map has?
- Very few actually safe vaults. Sure the few safe vaults that do exist are extremely safe vaults, but they’re so few.
- Pretty much every structure/loop with these pallets that are being complained about almost always quickly lead chases back to gens. Gens you could/can quickly switch up targets on. If you are allowing yourself to be lead to areas where gens are already finished, that’s on you.
- There are many dead ends in this map if a killer is smart about which breakable walls are left intact.
- This map very quickly becomes a death trap for survivors once many of these pallets are gone, because there are so few loops with good vaults. And most of these pallets get dropped very quickly by survivors.
Since the rework of this map, I’ve had only ONE terrible, terrible match as killer on this map, and that’s only because it coincided with going up against one of the most brutally hardcore teams I’ve gone against in recent memory.
This map is fine. I think many of you are just succumbing to the psychological effect of thinking about the total volume of pallets, rather than being objective about how quickly this map becomes absolutely abysmal for survivors against a killer that keeps a cool head.
I think the issue is mainly how tremendously boring it is. The sheer amount of pallets that MUST be kicked is unbelievable. There is no mindgaming, just hold w, get to pallet, loop pallet 3 times if possible, drop it, make free distance because the killer has to break the pallet. Don't even get me started on the God pallets. The map is genuinely an awfully designed map from a game play perspective. You may be right, it may well be possible to win by doing what you've said, that doesn't change how terrible it is. It's an absolute snoozefest. Even if I win as Killer, I don't feel happy about the win, just happy that I can get off that bloody map. It may be fair, but it doesn't feel fair simply due to the sheer number of pallets that cannot be mind-gamed.

If I'm not mistaken, the perk is bugged right now so it breaks hooks permanently. This means that sabo squads who exploit the bug can essentially make it impossible to hook them by the mid-late game.

I know it's a quote from RE but could this possibly have more meaning ?
I was thinking, the way McCote said it, could he possibly hint at the fact that the new killer will be the first killer that can be killed ?
How coold would it be if new RE killer's power literaly blocks surviors from escaping the trial until they kill the killer or be killed themselfs. A power similar to victor in a way that enables survivors in some way fight back and kill the killer, probably not permanently tough.
Still if it was done properly and killer was actually terrifying to go against but beatable I think that might be the coolest power ever.
That would be interesting but unfortunately I don't think that's what he meant. I just interpreted the "kill or be killed" thing as, you can either play Killer to "kill" or you can play survivor to be "killed".

It doesn't do anything so there's kinda no point. If you're a streamer then you could do it as a public show of good sportsmanship. Otherwise it's basically pointless, lol.

If you really misinterpreted what "just do gens" means as a counter to camping, you need to stop talking and educate yourself on why killers camp. You clearly don't have a clue.
I knew exactly what you meant. I've seen the exact same argument literally dozens of times. My point is that you cannot counter camping if you're being camped. At least if you're being tunnelled, there's a slim chance to outplay the Killer and escape. If you're being camped then you're just dead. It removes any interactivity to the gameplay. In solo que, people just kill themselves on hook if they're camped in my experience and I honestly cannot blame them. After all, why should they waste their time unnecessarily just so strangers can win in a game? Anyhow, if the killer decides to camp then it literally just stops being a game. It basically just becomes a cutscene and a tremendously boring one at that. Awful game design in my opinion but the Devs said they won't address it so I don't even know why I bother, lol.

@Huge_Bush said:
I don't think there is a problem with it. The game isn't balanced around swf on comms so I don't blame any killer who doesn't want to play against them. It's no different from players DCing when they see a hidden offering or suiciding when they get downed at the start of the match. Devs really can't do anything about it since they can't force people to play.
If they want to fix the lobby dodging they should be working on fixing core issues such as tunneling and camping from the start of the match to how fast generators get completed. They can also balance the game around communications or at least buff killers and solo to be on par with swf. They should also do it without band-aiding everything with perks.
Isn’t being downed early usually the survivors fault? Unless you’re talking about the killer spawning like right next to the killer. DCing because of that is still scummy but whatever. People DC for literally anything these days.

Except for the new recolour coming in the next rift. Some of the laziest recolours I’ve ever seen in that rift. Even more of a slap in the face when you consider that they recoloured his most recent skin, rather then recolouring one of his older skins. The struggles of being a Jeff main.

P.S i remember about a Q&A where they said they couldn't do it, but it's still not too late.
If I remember correctly, they didn’t say they couldn’t do it, they said that they wouldn’t do it. There’s a difference. They simply don’t want to. It’d be too much effort to make and then try to balance so they would rather just not bother. Hugely disappointing but I guess this is just how it is. Huntress main weaknesses are her low mobility and lack of sneakiness. Ending a chase quickly is not that hard, initiating it on the other hand may be complicated.
There are several killers that are entirely focused on chases and downs. You don't focus on gen defense, you just try to kill everyone within a very short period of time you have untill the gens are completed (other killers of this kind are nurse, oni and myers).
Whispers allows you to reliably find people and initiate chases fast at any stage of the game. The most important aspect is the first chase, as you don't have to go to most gens/map corners, relying on the info provided by this perk instead. It saves you those precious bits of time - and you don't have too much of it when playing huntress.
Fair enough. In truth, I’ve become a bit spoilt playing killers with good mobility like Blight and Billy. The pain of taking 20 seconds to go to a corner of the map only to find no one is kind of alien to me now.
-
@TripleSteal said:
Whispers are absolutely amazing on huntress.
PGTW can be dropped sooner or later when you get more experience.
Brutal is ok, but bamboozle is suboptimal outside of tournament games - and even then, not for all maps. Latter one also prevents you from learning how to run some tiles.
Huntress is the only killer that can consistently makes use of bloodwarden, you can give it a shot.
Ruin is ok if you are running 3 gen strats on open maps.
Against top tier SWFs and tournament teams, you can go for stuff like HG+ruin+undying+noed, but that's definetely not a build for an everyday match.
Nurse's is easy to use and sometimes fun, too.
Certain players love discordance and bitter murmur, I personally disagree, but it might fit your playstyle - all of us approach the game a bit differently.
As a fun niche perk, huntress can use coup de grâce - you do M1 on some tiles, but not often enough for the quantity of available tokens to become insufficiant. Another pro is that you naturally lose at least a few gens regardless of your skill level.
I've also seen agitation being used sometimes for more hook protection oriented plays - huntress is absolutely amazing at certain spots, and getting someone hooked there allows you to "camp" it being half across the map.
Why is Whispers good on Huntress specifically? Or why is whispers good generally? It seems way way overhyped in my opinion. It’s nice at the start and it’s nice at the end. Otherwise? It’s quite literally useless as you’ll usually know what to do or where to go by the mid game. Only exception would be if you lost someone in chase and the survivors are being immersed. That doesn’t happen very often in my experience though. Discordance seems like an objectively better perk against most survivor teams. To be fair, if the survivors play smart then they will hard counter discordance but I’d argue it’s still better than whispers.

I believe you’re right. I don’t really understand the nerf myself. I think I’d much rather face a slugging twins player then a twins player who just camps with Victor. I find it really odd that they decided to nerf their slug potential without so much as touching their ability to camp with Victor. Kinda feels like they’re addressing the wrong aspect of their kit.

It's like "run DS", but it's nothing like the other two.
Do gens - a valid counter to face camping. Killers still do it because survivors make it viable. If survivors did gens, it would be less viable.
Doing bones against NOED is also a valid counter, because it's ACTUALLY a valid counter. It literally removes the perk and it can't be used at all.
Ah yeah lemme just do a gen on hook, oh wait...
I like Noed and use it occasionally because it’s one of the few second chance perks killers have. However, in my opinion, the ‘just do bones’ argument kind of just ignores all possibility for nuance. In an incredibly close game, there simply isn’t time to do bones because if you do then you’re just getting your team killed anyways by not doing a gen. Furthermore, there’s never a guarantee that the killer even has Noed in the first place. If you aren’t running Inner strength then doing bones is usually a waste of time. You’re essentially helping the killer if they don’t have Noed. Even if they do have noed, you’re still helping them out by buying them time during the match. Especially so, if you don’t manage to cleanse every bone.

Title. I'm curious too see how some people don't break they're keyboard/controller in half over what this game sometimes throws at them. So what keeps you composed when the game goes south? Whether it's an annoying glitch that costed you a chase, or another player trying to get under your skin?
Personally I tend to just laugh any BS up. And try and see a positive or at the least a logical explanation as to why said BS happened.
You never know, maybe your answer could help a fellow player if they begin to get tilted at the game.
Personally, I calm myself down by reminding myself that this game is broken due to bugs and is just generally unfair at times. It’s a simple thing but accepting that the games broken kind of helps to remind me that there’s no point in being upset. This game will always be riddled with bugs, this game will always be unfair at times. It’s an asymmetrical game so balance is literally impossible. Reminding myself that sometimes, things just aren’t my fault, can help relieve the frustration. It doesn’t always work. Sometimes I still get really upset if I’m robbed of a hit because of Blight’s broken Collison or the stupid hatch bug (Which they still didn’t fix, even though they said they did in the patch notes for the newest chapter). Reminding myself the games broken still helps most of the time though. For others, this could simply exasperate the frustration so this definitely wouldn’t work for everyone.
-
I would take literally any new game mode as long as the objective isn’t just watching a ######### progress bar go up. That ######### bores me to tears. A multiple killer mode would be fantastic but the devs have said in the past they aren’t doing it.

Playing a horror game with dark and scary graphics? Nope I'm try hard.
Low settings to watch killers moonwalk, totally not an exploit.
This game stops being a horror game after you hit like 10 hours of playing.
Last I checked, low graphic settings doesn’t give wall hacks. Do you actually know what an exploit is? Because using intended mechanics to gain an advantage is not an exploit. PC players being able to lower their graphic settings is a feature added by the developers themselves.

I personally think its funny to be teabagged by survivors. Yea the intent is different with each person but honestly I think a lot of people that do it mean no harm by it. Its funny to teabag with a ghost face for example or when you teabag a killer from a distance and they shake their character no at you. Those instances are just harmless fun and I'm sure both sides are getting a good laugh from it. As far as hitting on the hook, the only context I see there is a killer being toxic because you played the game better than they wanted you to.
That's all well and good but it typically isn't just harmless fun is it? I basically never see someone tea bag unless it's at an exit gate which is as much of a middle finger to the other side as hitting the hooked person. Teabagging at the gates is basically telling the killer "Haha I've escaped because you suck! Gg ez, baby killer". I'm desensitized to it but I know it can be upsetting for many after a rough game. Particularly, people who are learning killer. Toxic behaviours should not be banned unless they cause genuine harm e.g. Saying slurs in the post game chat and things of that nature.

Which isn't truly and really related to whether the game itself is actually scary now is it?
OP was referring to the updated graphics, change in art style, and overall visual presentation of the game, and whether or not that affected the horror experience / how inherently frightening the game was or wasn't.
Saying "Oh yeah, I've played over 1000 hours of the game, I've seen every single killer, every realm, every map variant with said realm, and have memorized nearly every single perk such that nothing truly surprises me anymore in this asymmetrical experience and I act properly and accordingly given whichever circumstance" really doesn't answer that question now does it?
Yet every time people ask the question "is DBD scary?" or something similar like "is DBD an actual horror game" that exact response or something in the same family of responses comes up as the most common answer. "Yeah, I've played 200,000 hours of the game. This is baby #########, and if you think the game is scary you're just a new player or a complete baby *spits*".
I don't mean to rip on you specifically, I know you did comment a little bit on the changes made to maps, it's just so tiresome to see Dead By Daylight as a horror experience constantly get a bad rap because of players who have been desensitized to it. As if how much you play and how that affects your psychological expectations and fear response is somehow within the game's power to change or do anything about. Or that it's somehow the fault of the game, or the devs who are making, that you or anyone else are no longer personally and individually scared by it.
For example I'm Terrified of the Outlast franchise. I think I've played through the first game maybe two or three times, the whistleblower DLC once, and the 2nd game I recently finished maybe a month ago. But I've no doubt if I played through each game 10+ times back to back to back I'd end up memorizing every single scene, jump-scare, I'd know pretty well how the AI acts and reacts, and some of the quickest and most efficient ways to get through different parts of the game. Somewhere along the line, it wouldn't be scary anymore.
Dead by Daylight is absolutely no different.
To be honest, even when I was new to the game, I still wasn't all that scared. I'm usually a total wimp when it comes to horror and I don't remember being very scared at all. In fact, the only killers I can remember genuinely frightening me when I first started playing was Doctor and Hag. Hag predominantly because of jumpscares and Doc because at the time, the whole madness mechanic startled me. My overall lack of fear could come down to the fact that I played predominantly with friends at the start and games were relatively easy. (My friends were also new FYI, the game had just come out as that month's free game for those with PS Plus so there was a huge influx of new players). Does the maps being darker and more atmospheric make the game scarier for new players specifically? Maybe. It'd be hard to prove that was the case without conducting some kind of experiment. Would I have been more frightened if I'd played solo? Maybe. Though I probably wouldn't have played in the first place if my friends didn't all play it at the time.
